We'll get started in a minute.
We'll wait a few minutes.
We will start this amazing to the spaces.
And I will be your person hosting and moderating these spaces.
Here we will talk about the internship program that we will have this summer.
We'll have amazing opportunity that we will be sharing all the roles and what we expect
from you and everything related.
With me will be joining us, Dora Ungerli, Alexa Carr, Joanna, Katie, Ram and many others
So please join me welcoming all these amazing speakers.
So Dora, do you want to welcome everyone?
I'm so glad that you could join today.
Thanks, Eva, for the nice tunes on the Friday afternoon.
It really set the right mood.
Yeah, we're here today to talk about our internship program.
We're running this in the second time around.
We had our first cohort last year.
And we liked it so much and had such a great time with our interns from all over the world
that we're running it again this year.
So the purpose of this two-day space is to have the hiring managers talk a little bit
about the candidates they're looking for and describe the roles a little bit more in detail.
I'll describe the program and what's expected of the interns and what we can offer to you.
And we also have our former intern, Katie, here and our former intern, now colleague, Ram,
who should be joining in a minute.
And we will talk to them about their experience.
And then last but not least, we obviously have time for questions from the community
about the internship program.
So, yeah, that's sort of the outline of today's spaces.
Do you want me to talk a little bit about what the program looks like, Eva?
If you want, I can share a bit about what was last year.
Last year, we had 10 interns.
Correct me if I am wrong, Adoro, please.
Yeah, we had nine, I think.
And those interns came from different parts of the world.
Latin America, Europe, Africa, India, U.S., from everywhere.
And they had an amazing experience working closely with the staff from the Agron Foundation
and exploring different roles that we have actually in our organization.
At the end of the internship, they shared a presentation to the organization where they shared all their learnings,
all the knowledge, experience, and everything they learned.
And it was an amazing experience.
And, of course, they shared this with their student clubs, their universities.
And, of course, we keep in touch.
And a few of them, of course, keep continuing working with us.
And maybe to add to that, we also have all of our interns meet our executive team.
So they get to meet with our chief marketing officer, our head of business development.
So they get an insight in those conversations, what the career path is like, what the advice is that the executives have for the students.
So they meet the whole exec team once a week.
They have a meeting with them and get to ask them questions.
And then each intern also has a mentor.
And that's somebody who's not on the same team.
So you may be an intern in the marketing team, but your mentor may be in the business development team.
And the reason behind this is that we want to offer some additional support.
So not just the hiring manager, but there's also somebody else in the organization that can sort of guide the intern, hold their hand, answer any questions they may have.
And also who gives them a glimpse into other teams' operations, how it works, what their goals are, and so on.
So there's quite a lot of support.
So they, you know, obviously, Eva and me are around for anything that the interns need.
Then they meet all of our executives, and they will have a mentor.
And we also have other programming for them, as Eva mentioned, the presentation at the end of the internship.
And then we also do an orientation.
Our colleague Fred does his amazing Algorand 101, where he explains how the protocol works and the whole ecosystem.
So it's a great learning opportunity.
And then obviously the whole rest of the team is available for connection.
So last summer, a lot of the interns just were able to connect with other team members and just have a virtual cup of coffee and learn about, you know, what their career path has been like, what kind of advice they have, and so on.
So it's really a great opportunity to dive into the Web3 ecosystem and learn a lot about Algorand.
And so, yeah, I think maybe Eva, should we invite Katie to the stage and ask her some questions?
Oh, Katie, I think you can talk.
Well, tell us, who are you?
What are you doing right now?
Can you hear me all right?
I'm so excited to be here.
Last summer, I was a university programs intern working with Doro, as well as I was part of the developer relations team as well.
So I got a really unique position to be able to work within both teams and got to learn about a lot of different things that were happening within Algorand Foundation.
I'm currently still a student at New York University.
I'm studying interactive media arts, and I'll be entering my final year this next fall.
But my past time during the summer with Algorand Foundation was a really unique time for me to get to learn about all this really cool stuff.
I had never really done a lot within, like, the Web3 space, within the blockchain space, and I got to learn a lot of really cool skills.
And I still get to take them and use them with me during my time at university and just beyond that as well.
And can you maybe share a particular project that you work on that you still remember, hopefully for good reasons, but maybe also for challenging reasons?
Maybe you can give us an insight into one example.
One of my favorite things that I worked on this summer was I got to help start Algorand's presence in Pakistan.
So I worked with some of the universities in Pakistan, and we hosted kind of an introduction to Algorand and just an introduction to blockchain in their space.
And it was really cool, even though I was all the way in California, I was able to see the in-person event that we were able to host in Pakistan and all the people that we were able to help get introduced to Algorand.
And we even made it onto the news.
Can you maybe also speak a little bit about working remotely and how you interacted with the other team members and the other interns and maybe give us a glimpse into like a normal life into Katie's day as an Algorand Foundation intern?
And like, what did that look like last summer?
I actually, I think when you think of working like a job remote, you might imagine like everyone's still, you know, on the same time zone.
But it was actually so much cooler on the fact that you're working remote just because we were so global and everyone is in a different country, different state.
And so even I was working with Doro and I think we had a nine hour time difference, but it was able to, we were able to work around that just because, you know, there's so much kind of structure for being able to work globally that it definitely worked.
And so when I would wake up in California, I'd check in with Doro and that'd just be like our first kind of touch in in the morning.
But I'd be able to maybe hop on on different meetings that Doro was on so I could help contribute.
And, you know, because Algorand was, you know, it's on a smaller scale of a company, I was able to really make an impact, I think, and able to talk with as, you know, we would have those meetings with the higher level executives and really feel like I, the work that I was doing, I could see the impact right away.
And it wasn't like it had all these steps to go through, you know, I was able to just see my work out there, which I think was really cool and really rewarding to be able to just see that result right away.
But I'd join different meetings, whether it was with Doro or with the other interns, and I'd have my work throughout the day.
But yeah, I feel like the day to day life would be different every single day.
And that was the exciting part, like, even if I wasn't necessarily going to an office every single day, I still had that experience of getting to interact with other people, getting the chance to, like, socially interact as well.
And we had more, like, fun things as well.
So I would say throughout, like, my day to day, definitely not two days looked exactly the same.
I was able to kind of mix it up and do a lot of different things.
And I think it's what's nice about Katie's role last summer is, although she was in the university program team, she also shared the role with the technical team.
So she had her foot sort of in both verticals.
And that was kind of a nice way to get some technical knowledge and also dive into other areas.
Let's maybe move on to Ram.
Ram, I just sent you the request.
If you can check if you receive it.
He's here, but he's not allowed to speak yet.
Eva, do you want to ask Ram some questions when he's...
Maybe give it another try.
Yeah, I'm doing pretty good.
It's quite sunny in Berlin and good to be here.
Thank you so much for joining.
So Ram, you are a star in the Algorand Foundation right now.
So tell us about your journey here.
Why did you apply that internship first?
And what did you do last year?
And what are you doing right now?
Yeah, thanks for the question, Ziva.
So I was into the Web3 space for the last couple of years.
I was doing a few internships before Algorand.
And yeah, I was always looking at different opportunities
where I can use my Web3 knowledge,
but also a little bit of my experience in a fulfilled way.
So and then I just noticed the opportunity at the foundation one day.
So I just knew when I looked at the role,
it just made a lot of sense because everything I've been learning
made a lot more sense when I just looked at the role.
So and I applied and I didn't have a lot of expectations,
but I received a call first and then it was pretty fast interview.
And then I just joined Algorand after that.
And it has been a pleasure joining Algorand.
And it has been such a journey in the last one year.
I was in intern for a couple of months
and I was working part-time with them after that during my university.
And Algorand is such a unique place to work
because the Web3 space itself is growing and it's ever-changing.
So you get to learn a lot first.
And at Algorand, you also have a lot of responsibility.
In many companies, it's very difficult to make some impact as an intern.
With Algorand, that's never the problem
because even as an intern, you make huge impact.
And there's a lot of autonomy
and there's a lot of, you know, initiatives that you can take.
And people are just so open to ideas.
If you have a good idea, no one is going to say no.
And so if you're looking for a place where you can, you know,
grow and also learn, but also take initiatives,
And I think Algorand is the place to start.
But tell you a bit about your experience during your internship.
You were part of the ecosystem team and you did an amazing job.
So tell us about that journey that you did last year.
I joined as an ecosystem intern.
So I was helping out, map out the ecosystem tooling
and try to fill out the gaps based on the gaps that we found.
And it was very flexible.
And also you have a lot of work,
but it's also quite flexible when you're working on it.
You have quite a lot of deadlines,
but with no deadlines, it depends on you,
how you organize your work.
And every day is quite different
because every work you need to do,
you do a lot of research,
you do a lot of, you do a lot of, you know, organization.
And yeah, basically every day you learn something new.
And I was learning every day something new from,
I was working with Joanna for a while,
and I was working with a few other people in the ecosystem team
who are not here right now.
And everyone is so experienced in their own space.
You get to learn so much from their experience.
And also, yeah, I think that's the best part,
working with people who are very much experienced, you know.
after the amazing work you did last year,
well, something happened.
You were hired by the Agra Foundation.
So how was that for you and your career and your growth?
Yeah, I mean, I always say,
try to do a little more than what you're asked for.
And it always helps and comes back to you in some other way.
And I was trying to always do a little more
than what I was asked for during my internship.
And luckily, they saw some potential
and some use I could be for the foundation.
So I was working with them part-time for the last one year.
And it really helped me because I was studying.
And also, I was working with Algorand at the same time.
It was quite a balance between work and also the study.
The team has been so supportive.
And it was possible for the last one year.
And, yeah, I'm pretty sure.
And, again, it's a growing industry.
So you have to learn a lot more.
And every time you don't just learn in your job,
but you also have to learn from, you know,
external resources every time.
And then you have to come back.
So, yeah, I always say be open and keep learning.
I am very happy to have you on board, really.
It's a pleasure to working with you.
And I'm looking forward to keep working with you
So now, Doro, should we start talking about the roles
I think it's probably best if some of our hiring managers
who are looking for interns this summer
maybe talk a little bit about the roles themselves.
So, Joanna, can you come on the stage
and tell us a little bit about the NFT role
you're hiring for this summer?
And maybe also a little bit about your job
and what an intern in your team would be doing
throughout the internship with you.
And, Rem, hearing you, it's, I mean, you're a rock star.
And it was a pleasure to work with you last year in the summer.
And I'm very excited and can't wait to meet the new group of interns
So, on the NFT side, basically, I am looking for, you know,
for a partner in prime, for someone that is creative,
that brings new and fresh ideas,
that can see other ecosystems
and that has knowledge about NFTs in general
but mostly someone that can be, as I said,
I will talk a bit about, like, what's the vision for this year.
So, basically, this year,
we will focus a lot on the creator side.
Last year, it was more on the marketplaces
This year, we are going more on the crazy ideas,
crazy initiatives to grow our user base
around NFTs and our NFT ecosystem on Algorand.
So, I'm basically looking for someone that,
again, is a creative person.
So, someone that brings ideas of initiatives
types of activities to bring new users in.
And that also helps us mapping the creator ecosystem,
looking at the ecosystem,
finding the gaps that we have,
finding solutions on other chains
or looking at what others are doing
and trying to fit that into our own ecosystem.
So, I think that it basically comes down
to someone that has creativity,
has some kind of project management skills,
as well as someone that understands
the Web3 and NFT ecosystem.
So, I think that European time zones
would be best for someone that is looking
to have more, like, a more closer relationship with me.
So, I'm basically working on European time zones.
and also, Katie, we are global.
So, we are working with people from the US,
and it needs to be someone
that is also flexible with these time zones.
But I think it will be a very funny role
and very funny experience
for someone that wants to learn a bit more
about Algorand and other NFTs.
Maybe let's move on to Alexa.
Alexa, you're looking for two rock stars for the summer.
Can you tell us a little bit more
about who you are, what you do,
and who are you looking for
to help you run your team this summer?
Yes, we are looking for two interns
But I really oversee brand, events, campaigns,
all the fun stuff, I like to say.
But the interns we are looking for,
the first one is a social media intern.
So, at the Algorand Foundation
and on the marketing team,
the channels we particularly focus on
are the Algorand Foundation's Twitter,
X channel, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Also, Algorand developers Twitter and YouTube.
We also have coming into play very soon
some new, a few new influencer marketing initiatives.
So, there's a lot going on in the social sphere
that this intern would get to have
sort of a hand in assisting.
So, it would be things like
learning how to craft effective messaging
that we put out on these channels.
If you have calendar management,
community management, social listening,
so doing like a lot of engagement
with other people who are interacting
finding good opportunities
to insert Algorand into other conversations
that are happening in the social sphere
that are relevant to us and what we do,
doing some reporting and social listening,
understanding what's working,
seeing where we can double down on things.
It's kind of across the board,
but obviously, it's a very visible role.
And to what Katie and Ram were saying,
it's a role where you actually, you know,
could see day-to-day the impact
and see your work out in the world,
And also, if you have any skills
using things like Canva and Figma
to create different assets for social,
that would also be a part of this.
So, that's the first role.
And then the second one we are hiring
is a content marketing intern.
So, why is content important?
This role would be creating content
about Algorand, the ecosystem,
the technology, news, other updates,
and really, the objectives are to educate
readers who already know Algorand
and also who don't know Algorand
about what we're all about,
the technology, what it's good for,
how certain use cases work,
So, things like you saw this week,
Algorand, alongside Microsoft,
in a new accelerator out of Italy
called Frontech Accelerator.
Well, someone had to write the blog post
that we used to promote it
and had to write the tweets
that we put on social to talk about it.
So, that's sort of what we're looking at
when we say content as well.
And then another big part of it
is driving discoverability
So, blogs and webpage content
that help Algorand rank higher
things like real-world assets
So, core responsibilities
actually putting pen to paper,
and actually writing content,
a little bit out of the box.
and curiosity for blockchain
but there's lots of opportunities
under our great content crew
So, that's what we're looking for.
Yeah, we have a really cool
We also have a new CMO, right,
He has a lot of experience
in different technology companies,
one you've definitely heard of
is he helped grow marketing
I'm already learning a lot from him
definitely would get to interface
an intern this summer as well?
Do you want to spill the beans?
Well, it's so much happening,
Super excited about everything.
Well, for the university program,
all the student community,
that thinks about everything
in a different perspective,
in a different point of view,
that brings them some crazy ideas,
some creative, innovative ways
with different student clubs,
different student organizations,
something really innovative.
between someone from community
and someone from marketing.
many things happening right now
we're having Twitter spaces,
we're having different moments
So I am looking for someone
or administrating YouTube channels.
is about connecting partnerships
with different relationships
and institutional relations.
and we need to be prepared
that they are doing right now.
So this is a super fun role
because it's super dynamic.
You will be working with me
and the entire community team,
here in the Twitter spaces.
or you need some guidance
and I will be more than happy
if you want to raise your hand
we have other roles available,
is working on some things
and they couldn't join us,
but they will be super happy
So if anybody has questions,
I mean, maybe in the meantime,
Last year, we had interns
from India, from the U.S.,
We really look for people
with all sorts of backgrounds,
so you don't need to have
a computer science degree.
Like, we're really looking
to have a diverse intern squad
because innovation happens
where you have diverse minds together.
So if you're on the fence,
look at the role description,
Please send us a cover letter
you would then go into a call
would continue from there.
about the internship program.
All roles are paid, obviously.
on the internship program website.
the Algorand Foundation website,
to the internship program page.
And there we put together
the most frequently asked questions.
does anybody have any questions
either for the supervisors
or just general questions
And this will be super fun, guys.
on boot camps and everything.
we will have the ciphers.
So you will be participating
in some digital activations,
and working with different teams
do you want to add something
do we will have a decision
I can share a few more things
One of the things is about
in a very collaborative mood
is inside the ecosystem growth team.
But basically my day-to-day life
is to work with the marketing team
or with the Algorand Ventures team
joining the ecosystem growth
or the ecosystem success team
doesn't mean that you will work
but it means that you will work
So you will have the chance
to work with the marketing team.
because this is how we operate
So I think this is also something
that is worth highlighting
because it's for me personally
one of the funniest parts
is to interact with different people
with totally different mindsets
that's what I wanted to add, Eva.
Working in different teams
is something that is super valuable
and I think that the good vibes
I don't think we have questions.
studying business administration
Get ready to read your resume
because we will take a look
And I think some questions
that we've gotten before,
with your international office.
about your personal profile
if there are any questions.
for some tough questions.
we have a Discord channel.
depending on where you're based.
We're looking for top talent.
We're looking for new ideas
and we're looking for people
and accelerate their career.
if there are no other questions,
and a sharing experience.
