Yo, GM GM legends!
Oh my god, American Ape is like, what's going on here with the music what changed since
the last time I was here but
guys we still have two more minutes or
three more minutes of intro drop a GM
in the comments retweet the space we have
hype guests today we have American
Ape I also see Boris here already
we have Boris and Richard Wagner
oh my god such a such
amazing people so retweet the space
we will have a lot of fun.
And also American Ape is probably only our guest that has his own intro music.
We gotta get into it, but let's go to Paradise City. Let's go, baby! Shit, isn't the Ape Fest Party City?
I think so. The grass is green and the girls are ready. Oh, won't you pick me home? Thank you. I'm out. Oh
My god, everyone is vibing so much
Let's get some Snoop Dogg. Let's cancel Snoop Dogg for the Ape Fest and let's bring Guns N' Roses
That would be cool, but
Guys, we still have like 30 seconds
So I think it's time to actually play the intro
for American Ape because
if you know, you know MF1 is between the space
so more people can join us
Tino, are you scared? Hell yeah, that's Grateful on Wheel of Pain. Let's go everybody! This is Grateful Show 375!
GMGM everybody, I'm so hyped to be here today. Oh my god, I missed Spaces so much. I listened to Garga today.
here today oh my god i missed spaces so much uh i listened to garga today uh we also had amazing
tournament on saturday uh which i was eliminated in the second round it's not great it's not great
i was i did a lot of shit talking before so it's embarrassing kind of uh j bond got me but we gotta
get into it i want to say hi to tino and then to our guest. Tino, how are you doing today? What's good, man?
GM, GM, GM. All good, all good here.
Super excited about today's show.
And yeah, I can wait.
So you got your ass beat even though you were full of words before, as always. So how did that go?
What happened? What exactly happened, Grateful?
Bro, in the first round, it was so easy. I had Captain against me. I beat him.
I was really scared of him, so that was great.
And then I got J-Bone, man. I don't know what happened there, but he got me.
He got me. He eliminated me in such a crazy way that it was embarrassing.
So everyone was laughing at me. I had to leave the stream, and that's it, bro.
I sold my mental tower that lost.
I sacrificed him.
Did you win him?
Okay, okay.
That would be strong, though.
That would be super strong.
Anyways, I'm excited for the show.
And, yeah, super cool.
Man, anything new from your side? I drove by the Ape Street Gallery, man. Every time I see that, I'm so hyped about it, man. Until now, it's basically been very rainy and the weather not that much of a summer vibe,
Man, anything new from your side?
but it's getting there.
And the outdoor venue, which is right down under the Ape Street Gallery,
will be extremely crowded in the next weeks, mainly in the summer months.
It's literally thousands of people, if not tens of thousands people each week
because there is a big soccer football stadium nearby and after each match it's it's completely
full here so i think we got a pretty good exposure i'm trying to get the
the expansion as well so let's see how that goes.
We need to get some funding for that.
And let's see.
Let's see.
But it also makes me really happy every time I walk around it,
which is basically every day.
And if you went through my phone gallery,
I literally take a picture
every time I go around there. i have like i don't know
millions or thousands or hundreds whatever pictures and videos of it love it love it man
uh also what's really cool man that uh that amazing prompt uh you probably guys saw it like
yesterday or two days ago man i posted that i don't know if you can pin it up. It got like 40,000 or maybe even more right now.
It was crazy.
I love these prompts, guys.
So I think we should create more, maybe even daily.
Also, I commented on Windows tweet,
fill in the blank, bring back.
And I tweeted Windows XP and it got also like I don't know 17,000 views so
I don't know what's going on with Twitter. One more thing before we get into our guest today
I did a poll and I asked people if they use dark or light mode and 13% people actually said that
they use light mode and Tino I know you are one of. So can you share why? I'm an outlier, bro.
I'm always other than the others.
So I do enjoy that.
I like that.
Many times I switch to dark mode for screenshots.
So whenever I need some kind of screenshots
or for presentations or whatever,
I do that at the same time
because I know it looks better.
At the same time, for the user experience,
I do believe that the white time for the user experience i do
believe that the white color uh for x is is much better and uh i'm the i'm i'm on this side so i
i don't know i don't know what to tell you 13 man what's going on with you guys yeah uh probably
the fans of new ios 26 right? Those 13%, they already installed it.
Yeah, I can imagine.
So guys, if you want to join us on stage, request, I'll bring you here.
I'll start with Boris.
Boris, how you doing, man?
What's good with you?
Good morning, good morning.
I'm just, you know, thankful and grateful to be here, man.
Thanks for having me on the show.
Just excited to share more, man.
I can't wait. I can't wait. I have to check when
it was the first time when we hosted you guys, actually, because I checked when we hosted
American Ape, and the first episode was
July 7th, 2022, which is almost
three years ago. It's crazy how time flies. American Ape is 100% OG here.
I was going to say, didn't you interview my brother? Wasn't he the first one before you
did these spaces or something as a podcast? Yeah, I think he was one of the first for sure
on the podcast show, which did actually crazy numbers back in the day. Man, I have to check
it out, but the numbers were so much more
than all spaces that are happening right now in Web3.
So it was great.
It was insane.
It was insane time.
I think it was 2021, right?
So yeah, different times, 100%.
Different time zone.
Yeah, yeah.
But many bullish things um i don't know if you guys saw the um the u.s securities
and exchange commission that they said basically that defy and the america that key points from
chairman paul atkins remarks today at defy and the american spirit um you know that defy is
basically the future and it's not a securities which is really
really bullish that's something that garga talked about that the environment right now for uh crypto
companies is so much better uh i think we'll touch that too today so yeah squiddy what's up man and
then we get into american ape and what he's been cooking squid Squiddy, how are you doing, man? How is it going with FIFA?
Oh, moving along. I am pumped about that. Busy week. I'm here to represent the,
support the Apes here, man. I'm pumped for this space. Another Grateful Show. Episode 375 from the legends. Grateful and Tino and everybody else that has ever been a part of or associated we're
building out the fist list and getting ready for a fifa launch man busy times in squiddy land
pumped oh we're gonna be drafting soon too gotta get my first drafts it's on my list
i actually do have a list where i try and cross things off i love crossing things off
do have a list where I try and cross
things off. I love crossing things
off. One of them,
get my first
Boil Banana Society drafts
because I am the best American
football player. I am
the greatest fantasy football mind in Web3.
Good that they shut that down.
Once he said that,
Twitter's like, yeah, that's not that's not actually true. So
Squiddy, you still here with us or you rocked?
Oh shit, Squiddy's rocked. But yeah, I hope in Squiddy because I also crossed my my portfolio off from 2021.
I loved it. I love that. I love that.
Feels great.
I also bring Luke and quickly say hi,
and then we get into what's American Abe been cooking.
So, Luke, how you doing, man?
Tino, am I ragging or?
Oh, my God.
No, you're not.
You're not.
No, you're good. You're not. No, you're good.
You're good.
I'm scared.
Twitter is crazy.
So, Squiddy, you back?
Yeah, I have to finish this trash talk.
I'm sorry, Luke. I am the greatest fantasy football, American football player in the Web3 space.
No, Boris, this was not Elon no elon was not fighting me right
there we had technical issues uh and there's only one way to prove it well there's two ways to prove
it but the main way to prove it is just to flaunt my flaunt my draft so i'm really excited to put my
money and my my time and my drafting where my mouth is there. And can't wait to hear more about it.
These guys have been doing some great stuff in the fantasy space.
And yeah, man, stay tuned.
I've got a few people in there as well.
Again, Captain Chris, I'm going to be reminding you too.
There's some Dynasty stuff in the works.
Neither here nor there.
But that's an absolute must.
Especially from a content side.
But we're here to listen
to them about fantasy football. These guys are true fantasy DGens, and I'm pumped to hear more
about it because best ball is the platform. I've been personally doing these best ball contests
in general for a while. I was part of the original best ball on Underdog. I was pretty big in that
contest. I've been doing it so, and to to make it web three fantasy and web three is just a perfect combination.
And then these guys are crushing it.
So can't wait to,
it's going to be up here.
Hang support,
talk some shit,
I know probably,
That's probably the only team I know in American football.
I'll do quick chat GPT.
don't worry don't worry
when we get a boris on stage or on his main slot today talking about sbs so yeah guys i'm so hyped
to have american ape here because we also gonna be talking a little bit about apecoin dao uh it's
very hot topic right now garga was in coffee with captain today talking about the next steps they
are they are planning with it right there is gonna be vote I think it's coming soon if we gonna kill the DAO or not we'll see it's
gonna be very very interesting and great chat today in Coffee with Captain
yeah I'm bullish also for the other side damn can't wait to get in June July
guys bathroom blitz probably the first experience so it's gonna be dope but
let's welcome American Abe here American Abe so hyped to have you here
today oh my god long time since the last episode I think but you've been here
like 11 or 12 times so that's amazing man how you doing today GM GM brother
it's been a while yeah I'm good'm good. I'm good. Just still grinding, as always, since the first time we chatted on the show.
And it's absolutely wild.
I think it was episode 21 or something like that.
So, oh my God, we've had so many guests and experiences since that time.
It's absolutely wild.
And it feels like it was 20 years ago.
Not gonna lie.
It feels like it was so far ago not gonna lie it feels like it
was so far away oh my god yeah but man how you've been um we haven't talked uh for some time so um
i don't know if you if you could share what you've been working on uh what's going on man
that would be amazing yeah absolutely um well it's been a long journey. I think everybody knows that who's been building head down in the space this whole time. So it's been interesting. I've definitely been watching and, you know, talking to people behind the scenes, but mostly keeping my head down outside of X as much as possible.
X as much as possible. It definitely got a little crazy on the platform for a bit.
You know, the 2021 was such euphoria. And I think we all kind of filled our feeds with anyone and
everyone who was talking about Web3 or crypto or all that crazy stuff that some of us are still
doing now. But I had to clean up the timeline a bit. I had to kind of step back from actually just kind of being active on the platform to focus on building.
You know, a lot of people know that I started with American Ape and have launched a couple different projects outside of that.
And everything's still moving, man. It's been pretty crazy because a lot of what I did was kind of leverage the success that I had in Web3 and bring that back to a lot of my what some people call Web2 relationships.
So I've been behind the scenes pretty much, you know, doing negotiations and trying to educate a lot of people on the potential of Web3 native IP and really just kind of overcoming the insane amount of
hurdles that the space has presented. You know, there was a whole meme coin run, there's, you know,
ordinals, there's all kinds of crazy stuff that happened since I started. And for better or worse,
I think that all that had a definite impact on Hollywood in particular and gaming companies,
you know, and of course, the general
public that kind of took it a little negatively, not really understanding the power of the tech.
But as you mentioned, you know, the tides are turning and it's now becoming much more acceptable.
People are starting to understand that the underlying technology is what's important.
So that's helped a lot. And so, you know, obviously we got funded with the, with the
Dow granting us, you know, it wasn't what's interesting about that whole process was,
you know, I asked for a certain amount and then literally two days after we got, we finally got
our, our, our money from that the, the price of ApeCoin had dropped significantly.
So we didn't actually get as much as I had hoped.
But I've been able to successfully leverage that success to be able to finally negotiate.
So I've just been grinding on that end, continuing building out the comics and actually working on the development of a couple games for some of our other projects.
And we're on the verge of closing a deal for the full season of the American Ape animated series. So I've just been grinding on that end, continuing building out the comics,
So Wife of Warriors and Savage Alchemists are going to have a game coming out.
Can't say when yet because we're still in the development stage.
But we at least have a lot of partnerships in place that I'm extremely excited about, man.
I mean it is
it's been a rough journey I think during the bear really almost killed me in more
ways than one but but you know we're starting to see the light on the other
side of the tunnel and things are going really really well right now in terms of
all that so yeah I mean just been building non-stop behind the scenes as
much as possible man you were one of the first actually who talk on the show about ip i think and about the whole
journey and your experience from from web 2 right and even maybe even the first one yeah maybe even
the first one because i i also think that maybe it wasn't episode 21. I think maybe you were also part of the earlier episodes.
And it really opened our eyes.
And then after that, you know, after sometimes Made by Apes happened, right?
And you see so many people building around their IP, around their apes.
Peter talked today in Coffee with Captain about what he's been building.
And a lot of people putting a lot of effort into Made made by eight so um it's it's very very interesting also with
mid division i remember all the amazing art and and comics so maybe i would start there before we
get into the into the aip and that pilot and where we are right now um yeah absolutely uh i mean all that's continuing so
you know a lot of the ip uh that i've been able to create and work with these amazing artists on
um it still has life so behind the scenes i've been continuing to edit and create these books
pretty much preparing for physical distribution as well as digital distribution. But I'm also bringing a
lot of the things that I've learned just on the tech side to come up with creative ways of
literally saving the comic book industry. Because for those that don't know, the comic book
publishing industry is going through some insane changes. And there's a lot of companies that are going under and getting
acquired. And, you know, a lot of these big studios no longer even want to have comic book publishing
arms, just because it's not as profitable as other things like gaming and even entertainment itself.
I mean, or I should say movies and TV are not as profitable these days.
Lately, there's that entire bubble that's happening
on some of these larger tentpole franchises.
And so I've just been kind of bringing a lot of my experience
and what it takes to build a story out from the ground up
for multi-platform storytelling and doing some consulting
and talking about that stuff while still at the same time,
creating the worlds that I want to bring to not just traditional media, but Web3. So, you know,
I've got a center island that we're going to be building out for other side. And a lot of that's
going to feed into the American Ape story and then just this larger world. Because you're right,
I think I was probably the first person on the show
to really talk about how we could use IP.
And it was cool to see just over the course of three years,
all of the founders just kind of fell behind that
and started to understand the power of storytelling and IP
and what you can do with that to build a franchise,
whether it's making toys and merch or T-shirts or whatever it is, it has to start with, you know, the core foundation. And so I've just focused on
that. And my experience in Web3 with all of you DGENs has really helped me just to be able to
educate people in traditional media about that. So I've been going to the licensing expo, you know,
the last few years and going to a lot of trade shows and conventions talking with studio
execs about how to really build in that space and so yeah we're we're still building man it's been
it's been a few years of just grind for me you know unfortunately that took a toll on
my personal life but but I think in the end it it'll all work out for the better. And so for right now, I've just
been focused on kind of solidifying the strategy for distribution for a couple of these different
projects. And so I'm at the American Ape Comics. I'm in talks with a comic book publisher, a really
big one, actually. And there's a big investor that's come on board to help finance a brand
new studio. And so that studio is going to be positioned pretty well to take a huge chunk of market share
from some of the big ones that we've been watching since we were kids. And it's really just because
a lot of these old studios don't understand where things are going. They're kind of chasing trends,
whether it's short form content, you know, you see Netflix now kind of trying to
catch up to YouTube. YouTube is actually one of the biggest, most successful, I guess, studios,
you could say, in terms of viewership, and, you know, content that's being watched. And so a lot
of these studios are starting to kind of pivot and chase what they think works. And, you know,
I think there's a couple of people on our team
that really have understood the whole evolution of media. And so I'm just lucky to be able to
have the opportunity to tell these stories, American Ape, Orangarock, you know, all these
other collections that I still own, you know, PFPs from, we're going to start to kind of bring those
to the forefront because the biggest obstacle and hurdle has always been like, well, it's brand new, nobody really cares about it. And so I think that was something that's been
talked about a lot with the DAO in general is like, how do we create some noise? How do we
make people aware of what's going on here and why it's important? And just with the evolution of
DeFi and now with the US government starting to say look this is the future of not just you
know not just the technology itself but of finance so people are starting to understand that like the
rails are built and there's a lot that's gonna need to kind of go on chain and so everything
from real-world assets to finance all of it you know these are the conversations that I'm having
now that I think set me apart from some of the other creators
that just have an idea and want to get it turned into a show
or a movie or whatever that is.
Man, one of the biggest lessons for me was first
that building IP takes a lot of time,
that you cannot do it over time.
And the second is that what you mentioned just now
is that no one cares about you so you
really need to build a story and um you know share it for a really long time uh so people
understand it's funny we were me and tino we were in one event and we talked to a guy
and he was like yeah i have just a new character and i just printing like 1000 of comic books and
i want to sell them
and we're like bro like I don't be negative here but no one knows that character it's not that easy
to sell it right you you need to build it because from our experience we know it takes time right
even like you have Snoop Dogg and other celebrities showing apes but man I think that's something that
other side also have a huge potential from the gaming side that people see more and more byc ip because it's so much easier to share content from the other side but
tino you were unmuted go ahead i think you're right we had a long discussion about that last
week because uh it's it's also i i run the kids brand uh clothing brand and we have this character
there and when you are fighting against all these studios, all the franchises that
that are basically screaming all over the place at the kids, you you're nobody.
Nobody, nobody really cares, even if you if you land a really good distribution
somewhere, people just don't buy it.
So how do you approach this American A?
Because you said you approach it differently.
You you you build it a little bit in a different way. So how do you approach this in RKNA? Because you said you approach it differently. You build it a little bit in a different way.
So how do you approach this?
Yeah, I think that a lot of that has to do with strategic alignments, right?
There's a huge shift happening in Hollywood.
And I mean, we've been talking about that.
I think the last few times I've been on your show, we've talked about it.
I think the last few times I've been on your show, we've talked about it.
You know, the traditional media landscape, the way it exists or has existed for years
is pretty much dead.
I mean, you've got huge studio lots all over LA that used to be bustling with TV shows
and movies and all this stuff.
And, you know, what's made it even more challenging for that model is the emergence of AI.
And I probably won't talk too much about that yet because that's probably a whole other show entirely.
But it's becoming much easier to create short form content, you know, with a micro influencers audience than it is to, you know, launch the next, you know, I don't know.
You can just take a look at the numbers. I mean, you look at the last couple of big Marvel movies and if they, you know, don't
bet correctly on the right aspects of that next big film, uh, then it flops.
And it's not just the tiny flop.
These are flops that cost them hundreds of millions of dollars, if not, you know, billion
Um, and that's not sustainable for any
studio. So they've kind of gotten to the point where they have to make these huge gambles on
what they think are, you know, sure wins, just based on the knowledge people have of the IP,
the awareness and the fan loyalty. But if they misstep and they cross that, you know, fandom
and piss off the fandom, then all of a sudden they're in the hole and they can't sustain the rest of their business model.
And so, you know, a lot of this has to do with strategically kind of putting yourself in the right place in terms of how you plan to market, how you plan to really just bring enough to the table that the studio is not taking on as much risk as it would be with some of their other projects.
And so that's what I've been working on.
I mean, I've been really working on that since even before I got into Web3. american ape and really just get the support of of people like you all of you in the audience all
the apes that kind of rallied behind me and supported me on that um project when we launched
um from the first comic book mint to the dow approving our AIP you know all those little
wins add up and show that there's some community support and then you just have to work out the
sort of leveraging game because that's what
entertainment really is. It's like people can't just walk into Netflix, which I've done, you know,
I've walked into Amazon, you know, I've pitched, I had pitched things before even web three and
gotten really good feedback. But at the end of the day, when it's something brand new that no
one's ever heard of, like you guys said, there's a lot more skepticism. There's a lot more risk involved for whoever the financier is. So for me, the focus was always, how do we take
that risk away from the distributor and take the brunt of that ourselves, knowing that we can,
you know, create our calculated bet through just the content, the production itself and the
marketing. And so that's what I've been building for the last, man, seven, eight years is just the content, the production itself, and the marketing. And so that's what I've been building for the last, man, seven, eight years, is just the systems that I needed in order to go from zero to
100, and then present it on a platter for a distributor and come up with the right terms
that are going to make sense so that we can actually get the eyeballs that we need, but at
the same time, attack it from another side that the risk is really the eyeballs that we need, but at the same time attack it from another side,
that the risk is really on us because we're that confident
in the way that we're going to approach it in terms of technology
and blockchain and audience engagement and just the interactivity
and touch points that we feel we're going to need
in order to make it sustainable.
I know a lot of people bought Mutant or Ape
because they wanted to utilize the IP, right?
And we talk about it,
you've been in this game for a long time.
Could you share where do you see the major benefit
of owning like Web3 IP
versus building your own from the ground?
And what were your biggest learning challenges
and mistakes on the journey
that you wish you haven't done
and that people could learn from that?
Because I still feel that the IP that we own,
I believe it's amazing
because you can utilize it for digital stuff also, right?
Like we saw MiBits,
they drop amazing digital wearables
or it wasn't from MiBits, it was from Ready Player Me,
but you know, the wearables
and you can build your brand on social media,
you can sell physical products,
chocolate, for example, et cetera.
So what were your biggest learning
and what would you recommend people,
you know, how to start with building their IP?
Yeah, that's a really good question, actually.
It's probably a loaded question because there's a bunch of moving parts to it.
But first, I'd say, I think it is really strong to be able to have, you know, an NFT asset
that's a character that is tied into a strong community.
Because ultimately, you know,
that's your first market, right? That's your first test market is the other holders of the IP who
want to experience whatever you're trying to create. And, you know, I think at first that was
at least what I thought the DAO was going to, you know, kind of be focused on was supporting of
the community and then it got separate. So I'm actually really optimistic about where things
are going right now if that new AIP passes. But it's got to be creator focused, right?
If you're going to create something and hawk a few t-shirts, sure, you can make a good amount of
money. And this is the thing that I learned just working in the space over the years is like, there's still to some degree is no brand loyalty because
there's not necessarily a story around it, right? I mean, sure, there's the brand story itself,
specifically with BAYC, you know, which was something that came out of nowhere and achieved,
you know, massive success based on how engaged the community was. I mean, those of us who were there in the first few weeks,
we know how active we were and how much we drove
and whether it was Pranksy giving out free apes
or any number of the big whales
that were promoting the brand and giving them out
and people were running contests and giving out apes
and we were up there creating our characters and just talking about all that stuff right um all that had a lot to do with its
early success um and you know i think that that there were a couple missteps there was a disconnect
with you know thankfully it's all coming back around now and i think everyone realizes like
the founders and the community have to be um you know step in step in order to
make something really break through the the noise and and make a mainstream splash but that's really
what i learned was you know ultimately uh having an uh a picture of a cartoon character right
doesn't mean anything but if you have a community that supports it, that backs it, that's great. I mean, in terms of my biggest lesson in this space is I probably wouldn't have reinvested
so much of the gains back into building at the expense of just like my personal life.
I probably would have taken a little bit more aside to make sure that my life was sustainable
and not just my brand was sustainable.
And that's definitely probably the most expensive lesson of the last few years.
But besides that, you know, it's really just ultimately like you have to stay connected with the community, with the people there, because that's really what's going to help you get to
a certain point. And then once you've accomplished a couple of milestones like we did, I mean,
we're still, I think to this day, the longest running Web3 comic book series in existence.
And so I'm hoping to continue that as we transition over to a more traditional distribution model, you know, getting into stores and having people be able to access the comic that maybe don't know about Web3.
And so, you know, that's really what we're working on uh for the next few years what's
up buddy sorry my kids around here um yeah i got you don't worry um so that's really what what it's
been for me is just like sticking to the reason that i got into the space which was building out
the ip connecting with other people who want to build with this ip and the most important thing
for anyone who wants to build with the ip is making sure that you have that story foundation for your character. It can't be about merchandising
right away. I mean, it can, but at the end of the day, like I said, you can hawk a couple of shirts,
but if nobody knows who you are, nobody knows what the story is behind it, or they don't see
the potential, then trying to sell collectibles about
something that may not be really around in the next few years is kind of pointless um so that's
part of the reason why i'm actually kind of uh starting to offer something for for creators that
i wish i had when i first started and so that's sort of the next chapter for me while we continue building in the production capacity behind the scenes.
Man, one point,
and Tino, I say I'm muted,
one point that it's so true
that you need to keep going
and you can keep going
because you can sustain it, right?
You have money for your own life
and you can live like decent life
because if you end and quit, it's over, right?
So it's better, I would say it's still better
to do maybe a little bit less, but keep going
than put everything that you have right now
and then suffer for years.
So that's a hundred percent also lesson for me.
And I tweeted just before the space that,
you know, that nothing is granted in this space.
And even the spaces that are happening like 24 seven around BAYC, you know, I see Baka,
I'll say what's up, you know, in a second. We have so many spaces around BAYC, ApeChain,
ApeCoin and the whole ecosystem. And we really should be grateful that they are happening
because they are bringing people together they are you know educating showcasing new projects
etc and it's not for granted right and i can i can mention few of the brands like for example
9dcc i'm still in shock i know it's business right so sometimes you can do anything else than just shut it out but man 90cc that was something that i never imagined that it will go like that it'll
shut down uh and you know i really enjoy it i i loved connecting those uh collecting those points
and and those slot machines when you tap the chip uh we have Artifact, you know, they're also shut down and so on and so on.
So this space is really brutal. If I look in my database from 2022, like so many people
are gone, so many projects are gone, right? So we need to support each other because it's
not easy. And yeah, Tino, you wanted to add something and then we say hi to Baka.
you know you wanted to add something and then we say hi to baka no beautiful set uh i i think uh
you are right because uh timing uh makes uh makes a very big portion of the success uh because uh
of course you can start big and we've seen it before we've seen it on the show uh hosting
people who who were having uh big eyes and trying to to do the splash. And obviously if the timing is right,
but you just need to continue and just go on.
And if, as you said, if it's not sustainable,
if you don't have a business model,
that's why we kept asking some of the projects
about their business model,
about the recurring revenue, et cetera.
Somewhere, you know, not very happy about those questions because they were tough questions.
And they were the reality where we are living back in 2021 and 2022 was a little bit different.
And it was a bit weird when now looking back.
But I think it gets back to the real business.
Business is business uh
business is is about if you are able to pay money to uh if you pay pay bills if you are able to pay
your employees to have a decent team etc etc so i think uh this this is a very strong point for sure
and yeah let's say let's say hi to baka and then let's continue with American Ape because this is cool. What's up Baka? How are you doing?
Am I rocked?
Oh shit, man, I was muted
And I said I said I said such a crazy great stuff, but I'm not going to repeat it.
Baka, welcome here.
If you're still here with us on stage, how are you doing today?
Okay, maybe Baka is taking chill, but Baka, he's hosting spaces, like 10-hour spaces,
five-hour spaces.
Oh, my God.
Absolutely crazy, crazy.
Yeah, so he probably doesn't have a voice anymore.
Yeah, yeah. Anyway also i'm sorry i'm
sorry go ahead yeah also you know looking back into 2021 it's insane how world changed since then
me and american ape he helped me to put together amazing art pieces and story for my ape and i've
been sharing that you know since you know a few times a week in my GMs
and a lot of people reaching out to me
and they're like,
which tool did you use to create an art?
And I'm like, bro, this is handmade.
There were no tools like that
to create such illustrations, right?
And now you see all these copypastas on the timeline
and I believe that you can generate solid stuff
with AI tools
that you can use, I don't know if for
comic publishing, but
at least for online, you know,
if you want to share your story and you don't have a budget
I think it's enough, right?
If you want to share short stories here on Twitter
it's better than nothing
Obviously it does the job, it's not than nothing for sure. Obviously, it does the job.
It's not, it will never, you know,
replace the real artist and the real art.
Of course, the real artists also use a lot of AI as their co-creator.
But I think I was listening to a really good podcast today
with Simon Sinek.
And he was actually saying that he believes that the art, the handmade,
and exactly you are saying the same thing,
this kind of stamp of handmade or created by a human will be pretty rare in the future.
And I really have a very strong uh uh outcome from from the the
whole podcast because uh i wrote a book and writing a book is a process it's not about the
finished product because uh you can never basically finish a book you can only publish it
and creating and writing those nights and and spending all those days of editing and going word by word, that taught me so much about myself, about what I want to say and so on.
If I was doing it right now, it would be, of course, much easier for the final product.
But the journey itself made me a much stronger as a business person, stronger as uh as the writer much stronger uh
as you know and and this is this is uh so strong in this uh i don't want to go philosophical in this
uh era of ai but it made me think a lot so maybe american ape uh you already mentioned something
about the the product that you uh that you're, which is really cool for all the creators.
And maybe also if you want to touch around this whole IP,
because I saw your thumbs down and these topics.
Yeah, yes, yes.
No, the reason I was giving a thumbs down
is just because there's still a lot to be figured out
in terms of regulatory rules when it comes to AI and what's
copyrightable and all that kind of stuff. So I think we're still going to see a lot of that go
through some form of litigation before we end up being able to just generate AI and like pump it
out. Because there's a lot of sort of restrictions and rights and you know there's the artist community is still fervently
uh heated when it comes to the use of ai because you know it's kind of like we were the first
some of us i know because a lot of you are my age um but you know we were a generation we were like
the last generation that didn't have uh cell phones in high school, right? Like a lot of us didn't have social media until college or later,
right? So we're kind of the witnesses of the end of the old age. And so AI still has a little bit
of, you know, shakeout that's going to have to happen with all that. And a lot of the old school
artists that have been, you know, training and practicing and drawing and sacrificing their entire fucking lives to get to a point where they're, you know, they're happy and they get paid for their work only to reach their, you know, 30s, 40s, 50s, whatever.
And then all of a sudden they, you know, they're competing with AI for jobs.
I think that's a big challenge for just entertainment as a whole. So it's still a little tricky. But I mean, if you're, you know, one person who wants to create, you know, something to show people or pitch or whatever, things like that, there's definitely ways to go about doing it in an effective and ethical way. So, you know, I'm a big proponent of that.
I think that's a big challenge for just entertainment as a whole.
And yeah, that's a lot of the stuff that I've been putting together over the last couple months is I've been creating coursework for people to kind of make that.
Because I know I've talked a lot about it, but I was so heads down in the trenches the last few years that I was not able to really kind of add this educational aspect to IP and how to use it and how to leverage it and how to get in and talk to a studio and how
to pitch it. And I know there was a lot of other apes that really wanted to do that very early on.
And they just didn't understand, like, there's gatekeepers, there's a way to do it, there's
relationships you have to build, all that kind of stuff. And so after, you know, what is it now,
four years of building in the space, I've been able to put together
a course, basically, to help people who have an idea, they want to see it as a franchise,
they want to turn it into a game and a comic and an anime and all these other things,
but they still have no idea how to actually practically do that. I'm not as guarded with
my information anymore. I feel like I'm in a good place and I've reached a level of success where I don't really see it as competition anymore. I know very early on, um, you know, there are a couple other apes and we butted heads cause you know, there was a little bit of underlying competition of who's going to do this first or who's going to do this the best. Um, and I think I've been able to graduate from that so now my goal is really just to help other people who want to build
on that trajectory
to be able to do that, to be able to take their character
to the next level and figure out
how do I make an animated series out of this
once I have this story, how do I
pitch it, how do I get it to a studio
all that kind of stuff
and because of the structure that I'm now tapped into
we may be able to structure things that they can pitch to us and we can help elevate projects. or, you know, a video game, indie devs, all these kinds of people who just want a community or want
an outlet, want to know that they're not just going to get hit with the gatekeeper when they
try and go to Netflix or try and go to, you know, any other big company. And I'm creating sort of the
strategic, you know, play by play on how you can do that yourself. And so I've created a course, it's called the IP Empire Masterclass.
I also wrote a book called the Story Framework Formula. And so it's really just to help people
to get started with the foundations of storytelling with their characters so that they can scale it up
and learn how to build a franchise. And then of course, you know, for the people that have a
little bit more money
or they're doing well in crypto and they really want just more one-on-one consultation with me,
I'm going to be offering just part-time consultation. I don't even know how long
I'm going to do this for because production is going to pretty much kick off by the end of this
summer. So I know my time will be somewhat limited. So I'll probably just limit the amount of people
I'm working with. But while we're kind of waiting for these deals to finalize and sign the paperwork at the end of
this month, I figured it was a good way to just kind of open it up to people that want to see
their characters or their projects. Even if you're a founder and you created an NFT collection,
you want to turn that into a story world. I just want to help people understand how it works
and then hopefully empower them to be able to see more wins in the space and see more creators
actually get deals because i think people just really don't know how to structure deals or set
up deals or how to pitch and that's what i'm really hoping to teach people how can we join
the master class and where can we get a book yeah i think uh the website's
actually going to go up on friday and that's like the big launch but you know all of you have been
you know big supporters of me along the way so the fastest way to get on that list is just to dm me
and then um i will get your email and then when we launch i'll just shoot you guys an email
um within the next couple of days.
And anyone who wants to sign up, if you're a holder of the NFTs, you're going to get a nice discount.
And then when I go public with it to people who are maybe not Web2 or just like comic book creators or video game creators or Kickstarter people,
they're not going to get the cool NFT holder discount that you guys would.
So it's going to be fun.
But I'm excited, man.
I just think this is sort of like a way for me to just put everything I've learned over
the years into one system and hopefully help somebody really leverage it.
Like maybe they have meetings they can set up with Netflix, but they don't know how to
approach it, right?
I can help empower you to be able to make sure that you go into the room strong.
So that's kind of my goal here.
How does the course look like? How many hours? Are you working with some kind of platform?
Or how does it look like for people who would be interested?
Yeah, so it's actually going to be a video course with weekly Q&As. So it's going to be something
that you can do at your own pace if you want to, but you're going to have time video course with weekly Q&As. So it's going to be something that you can do at your
own pace if you want to, but you're going to have time for the people that just want to do the course
and are not looking necessarily for the one-on-one coaching or mentorship. It's just going to be like
a six-week course. It's basically, I'd say about six hours, I want to say, in total. And that's all really just like strategy and tactics and
examples. And, you know, there's a big part of it that's storytelling and how to really refine
your story and make sure that it's structured for scalability, right? There's a difference between
telling like, you know, a one shot indie story that doesn't really make sense to try and scale
out into a video game and a comic book. And so I go over those basic principles and then, you know, we get into the
tactics of, you know, how do you get the relationships? How do you leverage what you
have? How do you structure a pitch? And there's going to be templates of pitch decks and all
kinds of resources that I've used successfully to either sell a comic, get stuff licensed. I mean, at this point,
I've successfully sold or licensed 10 of my projects. And so I'm really just taking all of
that and putting that into a system to help you guys. But in a way that's like approachable,
I don't want to overwhelm people because I know a lot of people don't like to read. I think we've
established that everyone in this space, we don't read. Apes don't read. So even though the book is powerful and you should read it, if you want to write,
you should read. But I'm incorporating things in there as well regarding the AI and how to
properly use AI for storytelling. Because I think the mistake that a lot of people can make and are
making right now is they're just plugging ideas into ChatGPT and having ChatGPT spit out your story or spit out your ideas. But there's a whole chapter
about how to prompt and how to really get it so that it's still your work and the AI just functions
to help you make your work better as opposed to just getting the answers spit out by someone else
or by the machine. And so, yeah, there's a lot of that stuff in the course. And it's a video course. I haven't
decided on which platform. I'm looking at a couple different platforms right now. I know there's
pros and cons to all of them. And that's why we're going to launch on Friday. But the whole idea is
really just that people can do this at their own pace. And then for the next six weeks, I think the course is supposed to start on the 25th or the
26th. I can't remember. It's in about a week and a half. But I'm going to be there every week on
like a Zoom call answering people's tailored questions. So if you have a specific question
about your character or story or you get stuck on something or you've already blown through the
material and you have a question about it, I'll be able to just kind of tailor everything to that. So that's how it's going to work. And
then the one-on-one coaching, I probably will only open it up to maybe five or six people.
And really just for the next 120 days, for the next basically four months, just help coach you
through how to really at the highest levels, navigate Hollywood, navigate pitching, navigate finding investors, right? All of that stuff is what the like one
on one coaching is more designed for. Let's go, man. I have one more one more question
related to the AIP. You wanted AIP 279, right? Bored, apestorm, Hollywood. So I would like to
know how is it going
when we can expect something?
Or maybe it's already out, I'm not sure.
Because, you know, there's a pinned tweet, guys.
You can check the animation, which is awesome, right?
So how is it going with the AIP?
Yeah, so I actually, I made a statement
maybe last month, I think, about it.
And when the bear hit, we lost a lot of interested parties. So I think a lot of people were really disenfranchised with apes and Web3. And they were like, Oh, it's just a bunch of meme coins, right? And so that kind of set me back, but it allowed me to kind of find the right partners. And so for the people that don't know,
you know, we had partnered with, with IP3, which is a company whose CEO is, is David Usland. His
father's an advisor in the company. His father basically helped build the Batman film franchise,
starting with like the 1989 Batman. And so they're still fully on board and I'm actually now, um, a part of that
company. And so they're bringing me on to help, um, basically develop a lot of the other IP
that, um, is not just mine, but, uh, but, uh, but other people's, um, but for the AIP itself,
we've included that in a pretty powerful slate and that's, what's allowed us to be able to basically get this financing for the full series.
And so it's almost been like a staged process where initially what I had intended to do was
just take, you know, 300K and kind of bootstrap the pilot ourselves with a couple of key people.
But again, when the bear hit, first of all, I didn't get as much money as
I had hoped from the time that we submitted the AIP to the time we got approved. For those of you
who were following that process at the time, I had to advocate for rewriting the contract because
ApeCoinDAO was trying to take ownership of it. And there was just a bunch of different
legal things that had to take place, which the process so that part of the process was definitely super challenging
and then by the time we ended up um getting the 300k ape the value of ape had dropped i think down
to like almost a dollar and so we didn't get as much as like i had planned for um so what i did
instead is we're able to utilize some of that to get through some of the development of it. me, we've been able to get to the point
where we're almost about to get that money and start full-on production on the whole season.
So we're going to do it all at once. And so I'm still stacked and ready. It took a lot longer
than I had anticipated, but we're in a good place. And so I don't know exactly when I'm going to be
allowed to release anything from it because
we're in the process of kind of signing all the paperwork for the full season but i think people
who have been following it closely and who backed it are going to be very happy when when it's done
and when we are able to at least release the pilot so i'm really stoked i i just can't wait to be able
to talk more about it and actually share some stuff.
But we're pretty close. So I'm pumped, man.
I mean, there was definitely a two-month period where I was really concerned and was like,
fuck, I don't think this is going to work out.
I may have to figure out how to just give back the money and just keep moving on something else.
But no, things have really turned around.
And it's been an amazing learning process for sure.
Anything else that you are really looking forward to this year?
Anything big on the horizon that you would like to share
before we get into the American football,
which will be wild with guys here on stage.
I know they're already scared.
I think ApeFest, man.
ApeFest in Vegas.
It's crazy.
Tino actually went to bank to ask for a line of credit.
So we are putting everything on red.
Yeah, I think we're going to have to, like to borrow against our crypto at some point soon, right?
So I would get $10?
Yeah, you and me both.
No, I'm pumped about that.
I think that it's a good shift.
I think the community of OGs and the new people that have come on board and
really see the potential, like we're, I think it's going to be a good rally, man. I can't wait.
And I hope that this sort of restructuring of the DAO with a focus on Yuga Labs ends up happening
because I think that's the best thing that could happen for people who are actually creating in
this space and not just, you know, taking one-offs or, you know, doing some Ponzi or who knows what else.
I mean, it just became a political thing.
And I think if we can get back to the core thing of, like, how do we build the Ape brand and everything around it,
I think Ape Fest is going to be a lot of fun.
And, of course, this summer is San Diego Comic-Con and I go every year.
So, you know, some of my largest holders are
going to meet up with us there. I've already got some free tickets for a couple of our
holders. I know some of you know Reaper and I'm hooking him up with passes for him and
his son. So it's going to be a lot of fun, man. I mean, I'm still, you know, even though
I've been very quiet lately, I'm still very supportive of the community. I love, you know,
everything that everyone's doing. I'm watching from the shadows.
Still a big fan of what everyone else is doing with their IP.
So yeah, I'm just hoping that we can all sort of continue building together
and just take this to the next level, man, because we're close.
Now with everything changing for crypto and DeFi,
it's going to open up a lot of opportunities for
everyone yeah it's changing every day it's absolutely wild uh i think vegas will be
absolute it will be insane guys i'm really scared um yeah it will be too crazy i'm happy that i
don't drink that that's probably one thing that i'm really grateful for. Exactly. Exactly.
Yeah, man.
Roman, all the best luck with all you've been doing.
I really am looking forward to seeing what comes next from your side.
And I just have a very important note for the end because often on Grateful Show, we hear all this stuff about Aquamarine and Orange orange but i would love to uh guy uh just to let you know guys what's richard doing on stage
hey hey stop it stop it right now uh the purple background the creator's background
uh you see boris you see american ape uh you see winsman guy you see brong, you see Winsman guy, you see Brongus, you see Gene, RDL. These are the builders,
these are the guys who don't have time to worry about the wars, about the background and I just
wanted to say that out loud and thank you for the attention. I also have purple background ape so
yeah I can agree. I know you do. I can agree. Damn, if I knew it, I also have the same background ape as captain,
so I'm good there.
But Army Green...
That's why I wasn't scared to say it out loud
and you wouldn't kick me off the stage.
Army Green is the one that I'm missing, 100%.
American Ape, anything else that you would like to share?
Maybe something, how people can help you
or what's the best way to connect with you?
I mean, look, my DMs are always open.
So, you know, if it comes to IP, anything building in that space on any platform,
I mean, I've worked in video games, I've worked in animation, comic books.
Like, this is my thing.
I've been doing it for a long time.
So I'm happy to help people in any way that I can.
And, you know know we're getting
ready to make some big announcements here very very soon and I'm stoked to hopefully see everybody
at Ape Fest and if anyone is at San Diego Comic Con let me know I'd love to uh meet up with you
chat you know I'm usually around the whole week so yeah I'm just I'm in full-on builders mode right
now as usual so anything uh any anyone who wants to chat about that kind of stuff I'm uh I'm just, I'm in full on builders mode right now as usual. So anything, uh, any, anyone who wants to chat about that kind of stuff, I'm, uh, I'm
always available, brother.
Amazing, man.
Good luck.
And I have one message for all of us guys here.
Uh, I quickly bring Squiddy, uh, and the message is simple.
I played this during that, uh, Mintoar's tournament and I played here again, guys,
because we all, we want
and we will and we have to
What are we waiting for?
Take this!
Let's fucking go, baby.
Yeah, especially Horder.
I know he's running the stairs in Philly.
I know he's been doing that
since day one.
So yeah, American Ape, thank you so much for joining us today,
for sharing all the Alpha.
That was really 12th episode here with us.
So really grateful for that, man.
What a journey, man.
What a crazy journey.
Appreciate you guys, as always, man.
And I'm looking forward to seeing your characters come to life soon then it's gonna be good hundred percent man and see you in in
Vegas or in the other side definitely you'll definitely see me at both I hope
I hope to catch you in Vegas can't wait thank you so much bro guys I'll quickly
refresh the room if you have any questions drop them into the into the comments
uh also please retweet the space so more people see it uh we have amazing amazing topic i'll try
to rename the space uh we have boris and richard bagner here uh damn like richard is such an
amazing artist he won grammy can you believe it? He won Grammy, I actually have one
favorite song since 2021. Get the fuck out man, it's your brother man, so even if I'm lying,
like you should be like yeah yeah yeah, but I don't think I lie here, so I love this song,
I'll rename the space and we start in a minute. Let's go.
I am the architect of my life. I build this foundation and choose its contents.
Today I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy. My body
is healthy, my mind is brilliant, my soul is tranquil. I am superior to negative
thoughts and low actions. I have been given endless talents which I begin to
utilize each day. I forgive those who have harmed me in my past and peacefully detached from them.
A river of compassion washes away my anger and replaces it with love.
I am guided in my every step by spirit who leads me towards what I must know and do.
My relationship is becoming stronger.
Oh bro man, I think I bought the first music NFT from Richard on Rival a long time ago.
And the music is amazing.
So guys, welcome here, Boris, Richard.
How are you guys doing today?
What's up, what's up, everybody?
Thank you so much.
What a freaking throwback.
Thank you guys for having us.
Thank you for playing my song.
It means the world.
Excited to talk some fantasy football if anyone's out here playing fantasy football these days.
Thanks for having us.
I don't know why I give him a thumbs up.
I always give him a hard time, man.
But, you know, shout out to my brother.
You know, he's amazing.
We're literally on this crazy journey together for so fucking long
first you know we we literally were in a band together then i uh managed him musically then we
joined the space together then we created this company fantasy football company together i mean
it's been it's been it's been crazy so we literally argue every fucking day but i wouldn't want to do
anything you know i wouldn't want to do it without my brother
so it's been awesome guys i have a i'm feeling like tnt on nba nba on tnt or shit like that
with all the crazy stats today right uh richard you are here with us on grateful show number four four march 17 2022 that's fucking crazy holy shit oh my god it's like 20 20 years ago it's
absolutely wild so yeah you also been og with us here if i ask you what has changed since
that's probably everything did everything man I even cut my hair. Everything.
So, yeah, it's absolutely wild, right?
I think Tesla Model 3 wasn't even introduced.
Oh, it was, right?
iPhone 5, yeah, that's how you get it.
But super happy to have you here, guys.
I'm also happy that Squiddy is here because Squiddy is, he said, probably the best football player in Web3.
He's probably the only one.
So that's why he's the best.
But super happy to have you here.
You've been doing an amazing job.
Love your music, Richard.
Also love what Boris is doing, not only with SBS,
but also with Yuga.
That's something that I wanted to share
and then we hop into SBS
because now we are talking about ending ApeCoinDAO,
but I think the big move and everything that happened,
of course, Garga taking CEO role,
but the other stuff was that
you guys started working for Yuga
and you are from the
community and you understand Web3UL and you are in space and in spaces and on X 24-7 and you really
have a finger on the pulse, right? And I think that's so important to be in touch with space.
We've seen that many times that, you know, some CEOs, they were in touch with space
and you can see it, you can feel it.
So big shout out to you.
I also saw Baron here before.
I don't know who else is here.
But, you know, looking into the audience,
oh my God, so many legends.
Captain, oh my God, we have such a beautiful selfie
with Winsman guy from the other side dachi the legend
who actually organized the mental tower school so i mentioned horror he's been running those stairs
dr dave coin nba memo etc joe's rdl i cannot name all i probably create ai agent that will be able to quickly read all the legends here in this
space uh that would be amazing dario uh yeah now i know you might be pissed that i really didn't
read your name but read it in your head i saw you so i'm super hyped that you're here and i'm
grateful for that so guys i don't know if everyone is familiar with what you you've been cooking i
know you've been on the show for a few times, but Tino, shouldn't we start with a little overview about SBS?
Because, of course, it's Spoiled Banana Society, but Boris works for Yuga, so I think it also means share big stuff from Yuga behind the scenes, right?
So we get both worlds here today.
You guys want the alpha, right? Fuck it. The alpha is... I want to keep my job, you know? So like maybe later. Maybe like later when I don't work,
you know, I can give you guys alpha. But no, but you know, it's been incredible.
Like, you know, so funny enough, like I, we created a spoiled banana
society, SPS, um, you know, basically around the time I, um, I joined Yuga, I think it was like
even right before it, but the name spoiled banana society happened and came about, you know, I was
I was thinking like, dude, it came about and inspired because of Bored Ape Yacobo.
thinking like, dude, it came about and inspired because of Bored Ape Yaku. I'm like, okay, boring,
I'm like, okay, boring.
What's going on?
And then, you know, spoiled banana.
It kind of hit because literally if you look at a spoiled banana, it literally looks like a football.
So it was like fucking, it was genius.
Like being, you know, when you're bored, you become spoiled.
It just hit.
I'm like, fuck, this is genius.
You know, of course, I ego pat myself saying it's genius.
Maybe everybody hates it.
But I mean, it's been a fucking insane journey, man.
Like, since 2021, we had our first product, you know, sold millions in prizes.
The first year, we gave out a Bored Ape.
It was worth, like, $500,000, $500,000, even more.
It was like a grill, like a blue grill ape or something like that. And
since then, I mean, yeah, you know, from the bull to the bear, you know, we just kept building and
kept building. And then three years ago, we were like, okay, like, this is cool. This product is
cool. But no one's the draft. Drafting is the best part of fantasy football. So we're like, hey,
let's create the first on-chain fantasy
football drafting product. Right. So people can get to draft and, and there's, and since then,
you know, we're still the first and still the only ones to be able to do that. And it's been
really cool, man. The first year we kind of launched super, super late. Um, so, you know,
we were like, okay, we don't really know if people like this product. And last year we 5X that. And then, and then this year we have so many new features,
updates, and we can get into it. But like, dude, yesterday the contest went live and we sold like
over $8,000 in mints and basically over like almost 20% of what we did the whole year last year,
you know, and we still have three more months.
So, I mean, we're just so grateful, so blessed,
and we truly, truly, really believe that on-chain fantasy football,
like fantasy football is like the way to bring people into the space, you know.
You know, we'll add that we teamed up with Third Web
to allow like cross-chain on-chain
payments you know you can pay with ape you can pay with with with solana i don't know if anybody
holds solana anymore you know what i mean but i'm just kidding um you know um you can you can
purchase with a debit card you could uh you know social login x gmail you know like no one knows
that they're playing on chain and then you know once
you do draft and then you're like oh okay well like what's these cool features they have yeah
you can you can buy and sell teams now that you can never do on regular fantasy football so
i mean the the cool shit that we have going on and the cool features and stuff that
we've been cooking this year and uh you know we teamed up with 14 other communities to add to the prize pool.
You know, we have 69. We have 27 ETH prize pool right now are over 69K plus around 6.9K additional to that worth of NFTs from 14 other communities.
First place is about over $20,000. And, you know, the way our contest works is if we hit that guarantee it can get bigger
So it could become 200 300 400 500. I don't see why it can't be a million dollar prize pool. So
You know, that's the short end of it. We can get into it more and Richie if you want to add anything
No, man, that was great, especially the Solana joke enjoyed a lot. I
Just missed the the Pengu. Can it can we pay with Pengu? Oh, shit, man. We're getting in trouble
here, man. But they can fly, you know. Yeah, no, I think maybe. But I'm, you know, a marketing
guy kind of. So when I was announcing the spaces, I wanted to ride because of the wall
chain, right? I wanted to ride SBS on Ape Chain,
but I'm not sure, guys, are those NFTs on Ape Chain?
Will those NFTs be on Ape Chain or how that work?
And how that works, actually,
because I know, I remember I bought a pass back in the day, right?
Last space.
So how does it work?
How can we participate?
So, I mean, like right now, it's still on ETH mainnet,
but like if you can purchase it with Ape and
On on secondary you right richard like you you enabled like go ahead if you want to add that
Yeah, no. Yeah. I mean, thank you know open shadow open see they make it easy. Uh, you could um
Buy and sell with ape as well and usC and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah So like it's still the price pool is on ETH mainnet
but like we want it to be we're like, you know, no matter what platform you're on a you know
I always want to support a people of course if you can purchase with a you can
You know, you can still have fun and and you know enjoy all of our perks and stuff like that
But it's still on ETH mainnet the price pool
So Boris you you mentioned that that you grew quite a lot uh is that growth also coming from
outside of web3 or are we talking more about uh people coming still from from our ecosystem
yeah so so um so funny enough so for the first two yes, I would say it's more so web three people,
like more and more people found out about the product, enjoyed it on, you know, you know,
figured out, okay, these are the interesting added features because the thing is our, our
contest is best ball. So, I mean, you got, you guys are like, we don't even play fantasy football
yet alone. What, what is, what the fuck is best ball? So like most people are, are, are used to
doing a redraft right a redraft basically
is like in august you go and you do a 12-man league and you just draft a team and you're set
you do a couple of those with your homies and you're set the the thing that we did which we
which is like the fastest growing format right now it's called best ball so you go you're able to
basically have a contest going for three four five months five months. And it's an actual contest.
So you go in and you draft as many teams as you want.
And you don't have to worry about in-season management.
So a lot of people don't have time.
So usually when you draft and redraft, you're like,
okay, I have to pay attention in the season.
Oh my God, I have to make lineup changes.
I have to trade.
I have to do this and that.
It's like people don't have time.
So with best ball, you join a draft. You enter a draft, 10 people, 10 people join a draft and starts right away.
Then when the draft ends, the team becomes an NFT. You can buy, sell, whatever. Right.
But the cool part is there is no in-season management. You draft and that's it. You
forget about it. There's weekly and season long prizes. You can do whatever. And you just draft
as many teams as you want. And then you can just see how well you do.
It also just allows for like a massive prize pool.
It's like a contest as opposed to just one league.
So basically just explaining this to the community.
So I think like it's still like it's not new, but it is new best ball, right?
Like it's the fastest growing thing.
But it's like having to explain to the Web3 people, okay, guys, like this is how best ball works. This is why it's awesome. This is why it's it's the fastest growing thing but it's like having to explain to the web three people okay guys like this is how best ball works this is why it's awesome this is why it's amazing
and the more people that see it and and you know view our thing they're like oh wow that's cool so
like yeah it's been like a gradual thing and this year we're finally having a lot of like i have like
over 100 dms of people in web 2 wanting to finally try our product so i think this year is finally gonna like be able
to happen where you'll finally have that immersion of web 2 and web 3 people playing it
so can people buy also with credit cards so debit card yeah yeah they can buy debit card yeah yeah
yeah not credit card i guess they don't like when I said credit. I was thinking about Tino, you know, going to Vegas. Sorry. Yeah, I think, man, sports, it's so popular. And I'm hyped that you are
building it on, you know, on blockchain because it has a lot of benefits. Where do you see that
you are ahead compared to fantasy football that is not on blockchain that is a traditional web two-way. Rich you want to hit it? I just feel like I'm talking all
the time sorry. Yeah no sorry yeah I mean I think that you know and like the
reason we believe that it's such a dope you know thing to bridge fantasy
football into web 3 is because like two reasons number one is i would say like the
crypto aspect because the prize pool is in crypto like um you know somebody was also mentioning this
like when you go to play on draft kings or stuff um they kind of doubt that like all the money
people are depositing for like season-long stuff is just sitting in draft kings account so they're
not like touching it and like making a percent off of it. And so the cool thing with crypto, the price pool being crypto, is, like, it can go up.
It can go down, too, for sure, but, like, it can also go up.
So, like, last year, I think, when the season, when, like, the drafts ended, there was about, like, 80,000, I think, in the price pool.
But then by the time the season ended and people were, like, supposed their prizes for winning the prize pool was at 110 000 so like not only are you making a bet on um you know your fantasy
football skills but you're also betting on crypto if you believe in it in a sense which you know a
bunch of people playing do and then the other biggest thing i would say like the biggest thing
is like the buying and selling option um you know kind of like when you make a bet on draft kings
right and they offer you like a cash out option if you don't want like when you make a bet on draft kings right and they offer
you like a cash out option if you don't want to like let it ride all the way this is similar but
it's like peer-to-peer in a sense so it's more fair and um it's really cool because in these
best ball contests when you get to the finals you know let's say there's like a million dollars for
first but there's like a hundred teams um so like and let's say like you're
guaranteed to win $5,000 but you can win a million and you don't really want to
like sweat that out you want to just sell your team for like 10-15k and give
it to someone who can sweat it you can easily like kind of realize the equity
of your team and on the flip side someone can buy if they like missed the
you know all their teams got did bad they can buy into the finals and still kind of get that sweat.
Epic, man.
I'm just checking the site.
What's the best way for people to actually participate right now?
How can they join?
Yeah, so I would join our Discord.
I would follow us, SPS Fantasy, on Twitter. But basically, I would follow us sbs fantasy um on twitter but basically
i would check out sbsfantasy.com and you can check um you know you can you can join you can
basically sorry buy a draft draft pass and then you enter a draft just so you guys know like when
you buy a draft pass it's around 25 for a draft pass 0.01 eth um so we made it cheap you know
that's how that's how these contests work um you know when you enter a draft just, .01 ETH. So we made it cheap. That's how these contests work.
When you enter a draft,
just make sure to know that
once 10 people join it,
it starts right away.
And we actually, for this year,
have a draft bot.
So it tells you.
So we have a Twitter bot
and a Discord bot.
It tells you, okay,
5 out of 10, 6 out of 10,
7 out of 10, 8 out of 10.
Or if you put notification
on that draft bot, you'll know. So you won't be sitting there and be like, oh my God, six out of 10, seven out of 10, eight out of 10, or if you put notification
on that draft bot, you'll know. So like, you won't be sitting there and be like, Oh my God,
fuck. Did I miss it? Am I, am I in the draft? Am I going to have to auto draft or whatever? So
like we've created a system now that's way better for people. And, um, and yeah, so yeah, I mean,
you just, and then we have, you can go on our site. You can see like all the contest rules.
We have these cool promotions that we can get into, features, all these cool little features.
So for example, a draft can become a jackpot draft.
A draft can become...
So like that's the thing.
We're gamifying.
So like fantasy football people in these best ball contests, right?
Like they're like, okay, we're going to have a contest with like a crazy amount of price.
Well, yeah, like of course that's lit.
But the way we're doing it is like we're making it on chain and we're also adding like insane features to make it like really
degen like, so a jackpot, a jackpot drop, there's 1% of drafts can become jackpots. So if you win
that league during that season and you're in a jackpot league, then you skip the first two weeks
of the playoffs and go straight into the finals, which is a crazy amount of perk. like to be able to just skip the playoffs and go straight to the finals is insane like if
you get into a hall of fame draft you get extra on the jackpot one you're skipping like a thousand
people like close to like a thousand people to to make it to the finals of like 50 and dude what we
degenized it i mean is we added a slot machine, dude.
So like when you enter a draft now, there's literally a slot machine where people were
it's like, oh, did you hit that jackpot?
Oh, did you hit that Hall of Fame?
And then you enter the actual draft.
So like we're just degenizing things and making it fun and just feeling like, you know, making
things on the blockchain and and
gamifying things well just we're coming for the big dogs man we're coming for the big dogs so
i love that man i love to hear that uh i believe you have a leaderboard right
could you name some of the legends if if it's possible who are doing really well
if there are like known apes here or anyone who's
oh is that squiddy yeah yeah so so right now the contest hasn't started like the action so right
now for three months you're drafting you're drafting as many teams as you want then um you
know first week of football starting that contest kind of ends and then the contest actually begins
and then there's going to be leaderboards, weekly, season-long.
Last year, Squiddy did play.
Baron did play.
We have on our team, we have Justin.
A bunch of people.
Yeah, we have Justin Herzig on our team,
who's part of the founding team.
Basically, he...
Not founding team, actually,
but he owns a percent of the company.
He was just voted as the number one fantasy football player in the world actually
by Forbes. And so he's worked with DraftKings, he's worked with Underdog and, um, you know,
he's been helping us with that. And he, funny enough, he, he actually hasn't been on the,
on the like top, top leaderboard, but he's, he's drafted with us as well. You know, he,
cause he is on our team. He can't like actually't actually win prizes. But yeah, we have a lot of legends that play
it for sure. Captain,
he plays as well.
I'm usually in first place.
Boris is usually the last.
But anyway, if you are not the first,
you the last, right?
So Squiddydy always lost right
so guys the the you mentioned that we have three months to actually draft teams so every one and three four zero point one is one team so i can i can be drafting more teams if i want to spend more
eat is that exactly exactly like someone like last year for example like literally drafted like 250 plus teams so yeah that's the cool part
about best ball right like you're you're a lot you're gonna just do the funnest thing you're
just gonna draft you're not gonna worry about oh my god i drafted 10 teams now i have to do
in-season management and all this stuff so all the way up to like the beginning of football starting
you can draft as many teams as you want just you know the more you do technically you have a lot of chances
to to win a lot of different more prizes and stuff like that and you want to be like okay like for
example why you want to draft early compared to mid compared to late is like there's just different
advantages right you're like okay i believe in this specific player um is gonna do good and maybe some other people like people don't see that see that value yet so you want to draft early and
then you also want to draft when everybody else is drafting too because that's when things get
heated and find out all these crazy news and there's trades and stuff like that but yeah i mean
it's really exciting you know best ball is definitely a lot of fun if you haven't tried it
You know, best ball is definitely a lot of fun if you haven't tried it.
Man, I think this use case is amazing for Web3.
Also, betting and parlays like Clutch Market is doing.
I think this is, yeah, it's so good for Web3.
People love sports.
People love betting.
People love competing.
It's so good.
And also, it's interesting to see how actually, you know,
we're talking how world changed
and now I go just to chat GPT
and talk about what the best ball is
and compare it to classic fantasy football
and you can immediately see.
It's crazy, man.
It's absolutely crazy.
I'll get a ticket and I'll try.
I'll try to play.
I'll try to do something.
Can we win prizes if we are outside of US?
I know we couldn't probably back in the day.
So can we or you can say, let's say.
Let's just say you can buy and sell teams.
Yeah, that's a great answer.
So I sell the team Squiddy
to Squiddy for 20 ETH, right?
There you go.
Let's say it's worth one ETH,
but you just sell it to Squiddy for 20 ETH.
He won't know the difference.
It's fine.
He'll get the money.
Wait, who hacked Boris's phone?
This face is recording, right?
So that's actually one of the things that I...
Hold on a second.
That's actually one of the things that I, hold a second. That's actually the,
one of the things that I,
I do love about it too,
because maybe there's certain guys where I see some value,
baby go onto the,
go onto the marketplace instead of like drafting a team and spending that
time drafting a team.
I spend that time seeing,
all right,
who actually drafted a good team,
but they don't even,
but they don't even know it,
but that's usually not the case because most of the time after drafting a squad,
you're like, I just drafted the Millie Maker.
This is the one.
This one's guaranteed to hit no ifs, ands, or buts.
It's a flawless line.
But then you remember it all it is is about week 16.
That's neither here nor there.
But the concept of being able to buy, sell, and trade,
and especially throughout the season too, it's holding the ticket the ticket right that open marketplace is someone who's been you know
as a player as a user i like to think on the the cutting edge of fantasy and that's always been
like one of the appeals here that element too of being able to kind of like take some risks
and buy lineups when they're on the marketplace is, uh, is fun. And it's something I I've never really explored as a seller.
Uh, but you know, cause it's all just all the bust and I'm that cocky about the overly
confident about the drafting and I'll never sell one if I think it has a chance.
Cause you know, it's always going for the biscuit.
You don't play for, for 18th place.
No, but that, that concept concept too you see some winners you see
think some things are undervalued you're able to kind of act in season and that can if you have the
itch of doing like in-season transactions that would be it not like the trades the buys and
whatnot but you're still able to add to your quote-unquote portfolio and add uh you know
eagles running back stock uh to to your kind of portfolio there yeah i mean i
would say i couldn't agree more and the reason and the way we literally knew that there was like
i mean we knew that secondary was huge and it made a lot of sense right for fantasy football but like
when we had like a hundred k sale our first year on secondary at the at like the in the finals we're like okay like this shit
makes sense yeah like me and my brother as deejons as well like we're never gonna fucking sell that
shit at the end like we want to see if we can win that you know million dollars or whatever but like
they're it like having the option to to get equity off of it like is is lit you know what i mean well
i just well i think you know as the price pool you know grows back up and like gets to where it was when we had that other product and stuff like
then i don't know if you could say we would never sell because you know if the offer is 100k it's
like i don't know about that true what was the price for the first year well we know first was
like you know 500k right i mean i think it was over a million yeah it was like, you know, 500k, right? I mean, I think it was over a million. Yeah. It was like
over a million dollars for, for, for the price. Well, right. So like if right now it's like,
you know, set over 70 K 80 K price pool, you know, with all the NFTs 70 K or something. So
like if it gets to a couple of hundred K or like a million for sure, like I, I'm assuming people
would want to do that. Yeah. I mean, just in perspective last year we hit 110k i guess already set up but
um so yeah that's doable i think guys i think when you're creating a team or when you're drafting a
team the social aspect is important right so do you have any like live streams or group chats or
anything when you shit talk and trash talk and yeah yeah that's a that's a great
thing so um so we have a lot of cool things that we're doing this year you know with like
kato kicking ass and everybody you know being like engage engage engage we have an engage
thing happening too so if you engage on you go on our discord you know connect your ex and engage
on x you can win prizes.
You can win basically drafts every single day to do that.
And so what we did this year, we haven't even talked about it,
is we added a banana wheel.
So the banana wheel is fucking insane.
So you can win up to 20 free drafts, 10 free drafts, five free drafts, a jackpot, a Hall of Fame every single day.
So we have so many promotions
you can win it. So, for example, for the engage on X, you know, two people get to spend the
banana every single day engaging on X. We also have, you know, promotions for minting. So so
if you like mint like for the next 48, I think 24 hours now, you know, every 10 you mint,
you get to spend the banana. And so when you
spend the banana, you guaranteeing to get one free draft. So, so we have that we're also doing like
space. You know, we have spaces, we have live, we go live on x doing founder drafts. So we did a
founder drafts yesterday, and we usually do it every Thursdays. So founders draft is basically
like, we do a draft where me and Richard do a draft with
you guys. And if you get into that draft, so it's kind of crazy, right? In best ball,
there's no like schedule drafts. So you kind of have to get into a draft. And then as soon as 10
people enter, it starts right away. So the founders draft, we started at 6 p.m. PST at the
dot. We like look at time and we
start it. And so yesterday there was like four drafts starting at the same time trying to hit
that draft. Because if you're able to get in that draft with us and draft with us, every single
person in that draft gets to spin a banana wheel, which means you can win up to 20 free drafts,
you know what I mean, which is really cool. So we have a lot of... Oh, go ahead, Rich.
Well, let me ask the Gratefuls question.
Yeah, yeah, you could talk shit.
So in the actual draft room, there's PFPs.
So you could change your PFP, you could change your name and stuff.
And pretty much everyone's just talking shit on Discord, honestly.
There's some Twitter group chats, and as Boris was saying, we also go live and we're gonna add twitter spaces to the live so we could actually hang out
with the people uh talking but i would also in the future uh boris had a pretty genius idea i don't
know if i should say it but um but yeah pretty much like doing it to where you can actually like
um kind of we of we just shout out
Baron we did like a poker tournament with the apes and it was a really cool platform
Where like you could show your camera and actually talk while you're at the table
So like doing that in a draft room would be pretty crazy
I would say but as of now people just talk shit on the discord mainly at Boris because he sucks so much
Yeah guys Discord. Mainly at Boris, because he sucks so much. Yeah, guys.
It seems you are brothers, right?
So good. Yeah, it seems
like so much fun. I'll try to join.
You know, with CGPG, it's so much easier for me
to understand football rules
and everything. Who should I pick, right?
it should be it should
be much easier oh my god yeah i wonder i wonder behind me what's going on there did you hear that
slam door what's that man you're getting shot on a second no no i was just gonna say i wonder if uh
chad gbt will be able to like because, because it's team positions instead of players for us.
So I wonder if ChachiPT would kind of get the concept.
I'm sure it would.
ChachiPT is getting up there.
But like instead of drafting like, you know, Patrick Mahomes, you draft Kansas City quarterback.
So like it has to do a little bit of a jump, but it would be interesting kind of to see its analytics.
Yeah, Grateful has now a sound clip ready.
I don't know what that means, but it's provocative.
It gets people going.
It's really interesting that Tino is really quiet during the second part of the space
because I know, Tino, probably the American football is something that you are not an expert in.
What are you talking about?
So I literally spent a year in Tampa when they won their first Super Bowl.
I was there.
Look at him.
Look at him.
I went to several home games that year.
The Super Bowl when they won.
I was celebrating there.
For one week, there was no school.
It was crazy, man.
So I'm like, no, no, no.
Bro, you're a diehard fan now.
You've qualified.
If you've been to a parade, you count, bro.
You're in.
But we'll take grateful as an Eagles fan, but you're a Bucs fan, man.
There's nothing you can do about it.
And that's a fun team to root for, man.
Florida's hot.
Hell yeah, man.
Hell yeah.
And I also have a funny story.
I'm this lucky guy.
Because also I used to be, or I am an ice hockey fan,
and I used to go quite a lot for Tampa Bay Lightning for their home games.
I had a guy taking me there.
He had an amazing seat.
And it was so funny because the year after after i uh i i left uh they won the
stanley cup so the so the year after uh after super bowl they won the stanley cup and the
funniest part was uh that in my hometown i was still studying at high school and one of the
players that played probably like only two games but he he played for Tampa Bay Lightning and he actually brought the freaking Stanley Cup
to my hometown of 20,000 people in the middle of nowhere.
And of course, like not that many people cared as much
as in Tampa, I wouldn't be able to touch it,
but I kind of knew this guy
and I was able to hold it above my head.
I still have a picture in my jersey,
Tampa Bay Lightning one, and I was sending it to it above my head. I still have a picture in my jersey, Tampa Bay Lightning one.
And I was sending it to my homies in Tampa
and they were completely in shock.
It was basically impossible.
So this was hilarious.
This was pre-social media.
So there is not that many proofs of this,
but I do have pictures printed.
Guys, Tito really sounds like forest gum when
he was on that bench talking all those stories that he bought that's true talk from some fruit
company right uh yeah such a crazy story tino um next time i'll go uh to my parents house i'll find
that photo and i i yeah it's it's pretty easy I'll prove it I
want to see the photo man I want to see the photo I know it's gonna be black and
white but I want to see that oh no it's gonna be a drawing
but guys if people want to join so they can go and draft right now
and they have three months before the season starts, right?
That's the best way.
Then they can go to the Discord and shit out there.
That's the probably best way.
How can they join, right?
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Yeah, you have, you know, draft whenever you have time,
you know, when you're available,
the drafts are happening every single day
until football starts, you know, join our Discord. discord you know you can get into some of our group chats
on on x and you can ask us any questions and you know we appreciate coming on the show and then
we truly believe on chain fantasy football is the way man this is it's gonna help on board the
masses let's go and i would say if you if you're like what where do I start to read the rules and stuff, I would recommend FAQ on our Discord or the contest details on our site.
It's a good read-through.
I'm really happy for you guys.
I'm really happy that you are around still, right?
Because as I mentioned earlier, a lot of projects disappear
and you guys are killing it still.
It's great to see that.
Maybe this would be interesting for other apes.
What were your biggest lessons and mistakes that you've made along the way that others could learn from?
Oh my god, how many fucking lessons and mistakes we made.
It's like lists um i mean the no the first thing that happened
was bro it was insane like uh when so the way this all happened was um i first created leagues
for just board eight people for board apes and we were in the board ape leagues playing fantasy
football and then me and my brother were like dude like how lit would this be to play an on-chain
fantasy football thing right like this would be kind of lit like let's go try to go play
those games and we're like oh it's not really available so so we're like okay wait maybe we
should create it so we can play it and then once we did that we started talking to people in that
league right like in that league we were playing with ap. And somehow there's a lot of apes, you know, interested. And we're like, wait a minute, let's just create this whole thing with all of these
people. So instead of it just being me and my brother, it was like, let's create this company
with 10 people. And so what happened was like, these, like, it went from like 10 people,
literally, or like eight people to all the way down to like two people, which was like me and
my brother, basically. And that's
because I know it's the craziest journey, dude. It was it was nuts. It's you know, it's because
like, no one's no one was like as committed. No one was like, wanted it as much as us. No one
believed it in as much as us, you know, you had to like put so much hours yet to work on it. So
like, I think like, number one would be like, you know, getting in getting in with people that like,
you know, that are vetted that you know, like believe in the same you know, getting in, getting in with people that like, you know, that are
vetted that, you know, like believe in the same things that you believe in. Cause I think it is
important. Cause that could mess you up. Like I know for even my wife, like she had issues with
like a partner, for example, you know, like when she had her business, when she started this. So
I mean like finding out and vetting who you work with is important. And, and knowing that like,
dude, if you create anything it's hard man you're gonna
have a lot of lows you're gonna have to put in a lot of time like you know we had we literally
went through like five or six devs and you know the first two or three four devs like was really
really difficult we spent a lot of money like we had a lot of a lot of bugs and stuff like that and
so we just it's like if you believe in what you're doing,
just keep going, keep going, keep going. Because at the end of the day, like good shit can happen to you, man.
But yeah, it takes like five,
I think it takes like five years to be profitable as a company.
So man, you probably answered the question that I,
that I had ready for you.
And that's quite opposite, right?
Why didn't you quit?
Because it's easy, right? Like you you quit because it's easy right like you delete
this app uh you say fuck web 3 and you didn't right so why didn't you quit because i think
i think it's easy to talk about stuff right like you you see this this stuff on Instagram 24 seven and you read it and you, but living through it is a different journey, right?
I always remember, man, I always keep this in mind.
I see Tino's brand everywhere.
Really, it's crazy, man.
Like we had some event during the weekend
and a lot of people had his brand.
And I'm like, how much time, effort, et cetera, et cetera,
it took to spread the brand like everywhere
right and it's always easy to quit right like you can always say hey fuck it i'm gone so why didn't
you what's the lesson there for people that are trying something because you get into the point
that you don't see a way out sometime right you are like fuck man is it worth it yeah i mean that's a great
great question again i think we've wanted to quit many times it's crazy because the first year we
started this right like i just had my first kid and i missed out on like that helping my wife for
that first year because like i started yuga i started like this contest like it was nuts and
like you know every year we go through the situation of like, oh, my God, is it worth it?
Like, you know, because I working at Yuga sacrificing time with your kids, like you just have to ask yourself, like, is this something that you love, that you're passionate about, that you think like brings value to the space?
Because that's the thing, right? Like no shade on a lot of people like a lot. There's a lot of amazing builders, a lot of great builders that are apes.
But are you bringing interesting value to the space?
Is it going to change things? Is it bringing something that people are going to be like,
It's just going to be different and stuff like that.
And so we just believe that this is it.
No matter what, even if we fail the first couple of years,
it's something that me and my brother have been playing fantasy football for so long that
like, no matter what, even if we want to quit, you just, you just keep fucking going, man. You
just keep fucking going. Like, this is just, this is just how it is, man. I don't know.
And also I will say that like no investors, you know, like, you know, all bootstrapped. And, you know, it's hard. But,
you know, again, like no one's going to do it for you. You have to do it yourself. You got to just
hustle and make it work. So and I would say the biggest thing that, you know, keeps us going,
I'd say is, you know, when people actually come in, and they're like, holy shit, like, this is,
you know, what you guys build is amazing. And they're like, Oh, this is you know what you guys build is amazing and they're like oh my god i tried a draft and it was so fun and you know just getting the love from the community
is is definitely the biggest thing to um you know how could you give up no yeah how could you give
up when people are like i think that's the biggest one i think my brother hit it because like i think
like last year we were going to be like okay like realistically we want to see how this product does
right like if it actually like shits bed, if people don't like it,
maybe it is time that we move on
and do something else potentially, right?
Because it does take so much time to do it and balance life.
And seeing people being like, holy fuck,
this is one of the sickest products in Web3,
we're like, yeah, we want to continue
because that's how we feel in our
hearts as well so damn that's amazing man it really reminds me uh when we had uh basketball
camps that you know after like a week of crazy crazy training and everything and you know maybe
you had to run like in miles it can be like seven eight
mile run right and after like six miles you are like shit man I would love to quit you know I
would love to give up but on the other hand you know that you can't that you have to finish that
right but the feeling inside is telling you man it would be so awesome to just pretend that you
sprained your ankle and then it's over but then you are are like, no, I can't do it. I have to run faster. So it's really
interesting to see people in this space that keep pushing no matter what. And really being through
such a low lows and high highs, it's really something that you have to experience. It's
something like the early times in 2021. It's really interesting. you have to experience. It's something like the, you know, early times in 2021.
It's really interesting.
I think, I don't know if there's like one piece of advice,
but I think you just go step by step and you make it
because I'm really grateful to see you around, guys, really.
Like, you know, it's an amazing journey, you know,
with Richard being part of the podcast
buying the NFT music and then your
banana pass, etc.
I love it.
Was I muted all the time?
It was a great speech.
Oh my god, bro.
I was so muted. I was like, oh my god.
I wasted my speech. But, yeah. Like I saw muted. I was like, oh my God, I wasted my speech.
No, that was awesome.
What was I going to say?
Oh yeah, you asked what the biggest advice I would say is, you know, shit's going to
Shit's going to hit the fan.
You know, you just kind of have to buckle down and kind of go through it.
Like, you know, you'll get a solution.
Like people might be mad for a second, but, you know, you'll figure it out.
They'll forgive you eventually.
And, you know, you just got to hit, you know, go with the punches in a sense.
And like, you know, of course, shit's going to go wrong.
Like with anything you do, it's just kind of like that Rocky speech, right?
Like life's going to knock you down.
You got to get back.
No, I agree. I agree. Like you're going gonna fail a lot right like it's expected it's it's okay to and
i think it's also okay to like experiment a lot and not all of it will hit but i think being on
chain and in this web3 community i think a lot of people there's a lot of people that might not
understand it but a lot of people do understand it. And I think, you know, we have been very, very, very grateful that our community has been very understanding and they've been amazing through our whole journey.
So, yeah, I think just just keep pushing and be OK to fail.
I think before this company, though, like I was really scared to fail.
I think I would like anything I would start.
I would like quit very fast if I didn't get everything perfect and stuff like that. So I think like this has
really taught me so much about being patient and, and, and working hard and, and, uh, you know,
doing awesome stuff. So grateful you play basketball. You want the smoke?
grateful you play basketball you want the smoke what you talking about bro
you're saying bro my brother my brother thinks he's the bet literally guys no no no no no no
he thinks oh my god five foot seven uh basketball player on oh my god
oh my god oh my god i know my god. I know what's coming.
I know what's coming. Let's do
101 and we can bet on the clutch
market. I'll bring my basketball shoes.
You on my first. We're doing it.
We're doing it.
But we have to say that officially until this
moment Grateful Abe
is actually the winner of
the first and probably the last
of the what was it called
nftba yeah by peter fank uh in hong kong he won it he actually did win it i was there i wouldn't
believe him if i wasn't there and uh yeah so i i think until now he's still the champion among the
board a black club so i mean he just got lucky I wasn't there. But was it a three-point contest?
And I also can confirm, too.
I thought I got the matchup with Richard.
It was a few times in Miami.
I think it was like a year or two ago in Miami.
I'm like, all right, I'm fucking putting in some work in the post.
Bro's testy down there.
Bro's got some game.
Respect to Richard's game no but I suck
I was trash back that I've been playing every week you know LA Fitness so I've
moved on to pickleball oh shit we have that LA Fitness
there are runs LA Fitness is the home of runs baby okay guys i i was in miami 2005 uh you know by the way i watched the
life in american airline arena the what was that conference final uh between miami heat and
detroit pistons game seven right if miami made it they would be in the finals but they lost it and of course I started my LA fitness
career uh there too and I saw the level of guys there Richard if you are on the LA fitness level
I think we good you can guys bet on me uh you just went to the wrong LA fitness man you gotta
come to the one in LA yeah let's put it on one clutch let's put it on one clutch what but let's
put the thing is I'm way better on in a five-on-five, you know, point guard.
I thought you were going to say
I'm much better on PlayStation, right,
when I play NJ2K.
I'm just saying, like, he gave me an inch.
I'm five-six, like, one-on-one.
It's going to be tough, right?
But if we run fives or threes, you know...
Two dribbles.
I can't play two dribbles easy, bro.
Easy, easy. That'll make it fair. King of the court in Vegas, baby. Two dribbles. Yeah, I'm down with that. I can play two dribbles easy, bro. Easy, easy.
That'll make it fair.
King of the court in Vegas, baby.
Yeah, he's basically... Also, I'll never forget...
Hey, I'm just on the second phone with Tim Grover.
I see Captain down there, too.
And shout out, you know, you guys mentioned the NFTBA Association.
That was the first time I met captain.
And that's when I had the first ever coffee with captain.
So fun story of how that all kind of like loops around seeing Captain Chris down there.
Yeah, dude, was the first ever coffee with captain.
And then we walked to the NFTBA.
We got our shirts and I should have won three-point competition.
But Paul Wall was so butter.
And he didn't miss.
I was right there.
But we were co-champs.
We were co-champs in the three-point contest.
But he got us.
And he got me in pig.
He got me in pig.
But that was a great time, man.
But that was a great time, man.
That really set off a lot of great relationships that one day.
Man, during NFTBA 2022,
I think it was NFTBA in Columbus Park in New York,
I actually saw Franklin for the first time.
Dude, I was emceeing that event.
I was on the microphone.
Did I know you back in the day?
No, I don't think so.
No, but I was on the mic,
and I kept saying,
fuck, who's the one guy who's got an account, but he wasn't actually there.
And it was a ringer.
He always said he's a big GM guy.
He's been rocking the ape that isn't his anymore.
He sold the ape.
But it wasn't him.
It wasn't him.
And I knew it wasn't him.
But I kept fucking around.
I was like, oh, T-Moz dunking.
Like, he was, bro, dude was going up and, like, doing put-bad dunks and shit.
And I was cracking up.
And I was, I forget who I was emceeing with.
One of these, like, twins or sisters.
But, yeah, dude, I was in the microphone that day.
That was a fun time.
T-Moz dunking.
Richard, Richard, I tell you one more alpha.
So you have time to think about it till the Ape Fest.
But instead of LA Fitness League, I was in IMG Academies League.
So I don't know if it's better than LA Fitness one.
But it was kind of cool.
Listen, we play with past NBA players.
Let's run it.
Clutch market, where are you at?
Put the line up. This guy tells me every day, Boris, you don't understand NBA players. Let's run it clutch market. Where you put it
This guy tells me everyday Boris. You don't understand bro. Like I am so good. I make every fucking shot
Okay, Jesus You know, I got no I was okay. Okay. Okay to be fair the Miami NFT BA thing
I think I was off like four hours of sleep. I puked after that. It was like at 8 a.m
in the morning that was not a that was not the best you know showing of my skills
But um, yeah, I'm in for I love that MF for like he's waiting for the perfect time
right the temperature has to be
You know, right
To be right the opponent has to be right, you know
Everything is to be perfect to win. I understand, Richard.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
Guys, guys, guys, guys.
Before we go any further.
So, Rich, Boris, how can people support you guys?
What can we do to support your project, what you are building?
Because it's really amazing to have you here.
Still being here.
Still fucking killing it.
So, how can anyone in the audience or listening to us as a podcast,
how can they support you?
Number first, just give us a lot of money so we can get Richard into the NBA.
Because Richard needs to be in the NBA.
Yes, he's the best.
And we need to get him in there, guys.
So everybody can watch him and then add him in their fantasy basketball leagues.
What the hell, I'mfan curry no but uh you know the best way to support us i i'd say you know uh check out check out our website check out you know follow our our main page sbs fantasy on
twitter check out our discord you know you know you don't necessarily have to go buy a mint pass
for 25 i would say just you know check it ask questions, see what our whole contest is about, see why we think it's so awesome, you know, and why some of our community members do as well.
And just, you know, chat with us because, you know, if you're into fantasy football at all, we definitely believe that you'll enjoy our product.
Yeah. Also, if any of you guys, you know, never tried it and want to try
and you play fantasy football,
first one's on us.
So, you know, definitely we'll hook you guys up to try it
so you can see if you like it first
before you actually put any of those hard,
cold dollars that you were going to bet on Grateful and Me match.
You know, you could put it on this.
Oh, this is going to be so awesome, man.
But I don't want to talk about it because we can trash talking, you know, we can this oh this is gonna be so awesome man i i'm but i'm i don't want to talk
about it because we can trash talking you know we can do special trash talking space um i want to
say one more thing um and then when i when i when i traveled to miami and i i don't know how i ended
up in la fitness too man it's crazy but i thought it's pronounced like, because I love Pulp Fiction, right?
And they called the Big Mac, like, La Big Mac.
So I was like, oh, it's La Fitness.
So I thought it's La Fitness.
It's French.
Yeah, yeah.
I thought it's French.
That's fucking hysterical, dude.
We're going to La Fitness!
Where are you going?
To La Fitness.
To La Fitness.
Yeah, and I actually said that to a few people and everyone was laughing at their S
and didn't tell me that their pronunciation is actually LA Fitness, right?
So, yeah, that was a funny story.
But, yeah, big shout out to you, Richard and Boris.
You've been killing it.
I love it.
I'll get my pass I'll
try to win of course but the
biggest game will be
in Vegas right it's gonna be crazy
we can do live betting there also
with cash we can do a lot of crazy
stuff there
I'll bring my sneakers bro I'll bring
some cool ones probably Jordan
14 last shots right so
so you know who bro you're gonna make him quit he's not even gonna I'll bring some cool ones, probably Jordan 14 last shots, right?
So you know who you... Bro, you're gonna make him quit. He's not even gonna come to Vegas now. I'm just gonna bring my slippers. I don't even need sneakers.
By the way guys, I have a live footage from Hong Kong after I won that contest.
Let me quickly play it so you know.
I just wanna say one thing to my wife
who's home.
Yo, I did it!
That's a true story, guys.
It was wild.
But what a great show today.
Oh my god, I had so so much fun i also learned a lot
i i love this episode guys i really hope you gotta kill it you have a lot of people playing
and you know if you have any news just hit us up so we can share it uh yeah tino anything from your
side this uh even though half of the show i had no idea what you guys talking about
but i i started searching for that photo but it was 2004 i believe so it's very hard i need to
go through my old hard drives which is even harder because they don't work on mac
but i'm gonna do that i'm gonna make sure sure to thank everybody who's on stage over here.
I have a beautiful hairstyle like this. It's cool. You love surfer Tino from his 16 years old.
And anyways, this was a great show. I did enjoy it. You guys are killing it.
Thank you, American Abe. Thank you, Boris and Richard for being here with us.
Of course, Squiddy, the fucking legend. and all of you guys there in the audience. Thank you for being with us. Thank you for vibing
with us. Thank you for tuning in. It means the world. As I mentioned before, we also released
this as a podcast, so you can listen back on your favorite podcast platform, Grateful Show,
and of course, ready for Thursday. Grateful. How about you?
Oh my god, me too, me too.
We're gonna be hosting Spark Ball,
which is a game coming to Somnia Network.
And also Dario de Siena.
He's dropping new art collection, so he'll join us.
And I think we have one available spot,
so if you want to join us, hit me up in the DMs.
Man, Somnia is dropping so many games it's absolutely crazy
there are more and more games coming to somnia network it's insane um yeah i think it's gonna
be a good one and also guys i forgot to ask you and that's that's my last question are you planning
something for other side with sbs uh that is a great question.
are we planning anything
for OtherSide on SBS?
nothing. That's a really good question.
Off the bat, I'm thinking
it would be cool if
in OtherSide,
you could literally do a draft
to where everyone could be there
and kind of like talk shit as we were saying to each other um while you're in other side do it
and you could actually click the players in other side that'd be pretty crazy
bors i don't know if you have anything other stuff yeah yeah yeah i mean i think i think that
would be it'd be awesome i think you know it's always been a little confusing not like confusing but like you know a little weird because just I work at Yuga right and then
I also have this SPS company so I mean like you know whatever makes sense of course we would love
like anything to deal to do with with Yuga with with with Ape Chain with um with other side like
we would love to we would love to be part of it, of course So I think it would be it would be lit. Honestly, I actually found a
Highlight of me winning the NBA finals really quick
Just wanted to play that those
Was that like a COVID season 2020 or what was that
it wasn't 2020
it was like 1912
we can ask Tino about it probably
it was the season after he got 100 points
but you know there's no footage of anything
but there's footage, you know, there's no footage of anything.
But there's footage of, you know, me somehow.
Yeah, but the guy who made 100 points definitely wasn't 5'7", right?
So, probably fake news here.
Probably 7'5", honestly.
Yeah, exactly.
Oh my god, guys. We have to organize.
Please, can we do like a sports space or stuff like that
where we talk about NBA?
Squiddy is football because Squiddy represents football,
but different one than you guys.
And the same one.
Don't forget about NFL rivals.
If I do another plug here, we're cruising with that one, man.
We've got the NFL license.
I'm going to try and get some of our NFL community,
get some to do some drafts here too.
But we've got the footy community, the sports stuff.
I'm absolutely in.
And I think we've got a couple D couple space hosts here who know,
who know their sports stuff too.
So I don't think we'd be lacking when it comes to
direction and movement. I'm all about it. I know I tune into Captain's Sunday one whenever I can.
I know he does some game day stuff, but yeah, we cook something up. I'm in. And again,
Again, we got the grateful too.
we got the grateful too. Grateful, if someone were to be representing, again, hypothetically,
If someone were to be representing, again, hypothetically,
the grateful show in American football in a fantasy league,
who would it be?
Who would be the grateful representative?
You mean my favorite player or you mean like?
No, like someone.
Okay, we need someone in the grateful community,
the grateful show community to be the general manager
of a fantasy American football
team? Is there anyone there that would like fit the bill? I would go with Showbiz, man. Okay,
interesting. Definitely not Dr. Dave Cohen, he's from UK, you know, his favorite player is
David Beckham. Yeah, and Rooney, right right but I want to say one more
basketball thing guys I met
one person over
the weekend and
from US right and
whenever I meet someone from US
and she was like guess
where I'm from based on my accent
so I was like can you give me a hint
is there any NBA player famous NBA player from your state guess where I'm from based on my accent so I was like can you give me a hint is
there any NBA play a famous NBA player from your state and she was like no and
she was from Virginia and by the way Ellen Iverson is from Virginia I was
like are you fucking kidding me no man he was born in Virginia, man.
I know everything, bro.
Yeah, he was a Redskins fan growing up.
Yeah, even you guys from US, you don't know your stuff.
I'm just joking.
I mean, I was just practicing, honestly.
That's the first thing I ask any women that I meet, too.
Like, hey, who's...
Do you know if they're an NBA star from your town? Richard's talking about practice. Like, hey, who's this? Do you know who's an NBA star is from your town?
Richard's talking about practice.
Bro, Richard, I'm a franchise player, you motherfucker.
You talking about practice?
You talking about practice?
I don't know.
Oh, my God, guys.
What a wild episode.
I had a blast.
Guys, support Boris and Richard.
Get your passes. Let's draft our teams. It gonna be fun i'll do it i learned a lot with chat gpt along the way uh you know
shout out to american ape and tino anything from your side oh i'm super excited thank you for
tuning in and let's go let's go everybody this was great for show 375
and we're not done yet guys we gotta be clipping our heads Everybody, clap your hands. Clap your hands, everybody.
Come on, clap your hands.
Come on, y'all.
Y'all ain't tired.
Say, I'm not tired.
I'm not tired.
I'm not what?
I'm not tired.
I'm not tired. I'm not what? I'm not tired. I'm retired.
I'm not what?
I'm not what?
I'm not what?
If bands are father to son and ascend to the earth in the middle of the universe,
then why is this first coming six-time rehearsed? For freestyle, look for the Ronda Black Sons.
Beneath the screens controlled by the fiend.
What have they been? All the shit I'm seeing. Let's go everybody have a great Tuesday see you on Thursday and Richard say hi to guys in LA FITNESS let's fucking go everybody!
