Thank you. Welcome, welcome everybody to another artsy Friday. Great to see some faces hopping in the room right away.
This is Tezo's Commons Weekly Space and today we are going to have Tito.png up here. Very excited to chat with you.
Let's get the space started with some music. Let everybody trickle in and we'll get things fired up here in just a moment, guys. It's going to be a really exciting day.
Tito is not only an amazing visual artist and illustrator, but also a musician, fellow musician.
So we have some things in common there.
And also into his first season of Test Tones.
We're going to be starting off the space with one of Tito's teammates' co-creations from
the first match of Test Tones season three.
And from there, we are going to dive into some of the artsy, nitty gritty details of everything that
Tito has been doing with art. As much of the story as you want to tell, my friend, we'll get you up
here in a moment. And I hope everybody enjoys. We are about to start the song called Crazy Bunny.
And again, Tito's team for Taz Tones this season is called Zero Time.
And Kryptonio, whenever you are ready, take it away, my friend.
Thank you as always. Don't you know little things make me happy, but it's high where we can't be so smart Baby We're gonna get away from there
Where the body is running through
We're gonna get away from there
fun is to Thank you. what a beautiful, magical song.
And what's so crazy about that, y'all,
anybody that doesn't know about Test Tones,
is that that was made in three hours
with a beautiful visual to go with it.
And we hope you will follow the link
and experience it with headphones,
as we always recommend with anything music
Anyway, we do have Tito.png up here now as a speaker.
And again, thank you guys so much for tuning in
for another Artsy Friday with Tezos Commons.
Make sure to retweet the space
so that more and more people can know
that we are here having this amazing conversation.
And we'll see if we can't get more people
But Tito, how are you today?
Yeah, just enjoying the night.
Of course, and thanks for coming on the show so late.
I'm glad we were able to at least start
an hour earlier so it's not like super super late into the night but um also we'll keep that in mind
and make sure that we don't have the space run too too crazy long today for you oh good uh i already
uh prepared the time uh but yeah i also appreciate it to adjust the time for me.
So I suppose I kind of want to ask you some questions about Crazy Bunny, the song that we just played.
But before we dive into some of the more details of that, if you'd like to give kind of a self-introduction in your own words, I'd love to hear that yeah so uh i'm tito uh i'm a visual artist uh also a musician i'm from
indonesia uh i've been three years i mean in the thesis journey so yeah i'm happy to be here
still running running the journey.
And as far as that goes, it seemed to start with you fairly early. You know,
you caught on towards the beginning craze of the NFTs on Tezos. But was that the beginning
of your overall NFT journey? Or were you already tuned in before that?
So, yeah, about the NFT journey, it's been three years ago.
It was during pandemic when everyone has to stay at home.
And I didn't know anything about the crypto things,
And some of my friends also from Indonesia,
from the art and design community,
just told me these things.
Like, yeah, do you know this new stuff?
like, yeah, do you know this new stuff?
Yeah, they explained to me, like,
you can put your art and you can sell your art.
Somehow that is the elevating pitch from them.
And yeah, it just like before the NFT things,
I used to put my art or music in other platform like Instagram or even Devian Art.
That was a long time ago.
And yeah, it was familiar, like getting to know each other, getting connected.
But what makes the differences usually on the other platform.
The conversation is just ended up with,
oh, this your art is cool and that's it.
But in here, it's a kind of different actually.
So they told me about many blockchains
and somehow I stay in here,
maybe because of the way communicate and
when you can sell your piece your art and when you collect an art from someone and you can
getting to know each other and maintain the friendship even until right now and you can talk directly to people from
everywhere so that is kind of interesting and yeah grateful that that still happened I mean I
didn't think that way before like well I well, I can, uh, getting connected through my art
and yeah, you can know, uh, artists from worldwide, from, uh, Asia, from Europe and
anywhere and from the different styles, uh, from traditional art, digital art, uh, glitch
So yeah, it's really interesting you bring up some good points
and the same reasons that really attracted me initially is this whole concept of it being more
than just a thumbs up and like i actually said it once in an article where it's like if you were to
like be shown someone's artwork in real life face to face and you just looked at them looked at
gave them a thumbs up and turned around and walked away it would feel really really weird wouldn't it
yeah yeah so i do feel like that is one of the special aspects of the space is you get more of
a conversation you get more of a connection through the art and And that's absolutely what keeps me excited about it every day.
Yeah, even until right now, I'm still feel weird, you know, like, you can
very instant talk to someone who from the other side of the world with the
different times and stuff. And yeah, you can learn so many things you can know from many things.
It's been three years and still fun to doing this stuff.
As far as looking back at this journey in the three years since you started, it's first
of all, anybody, it's a pleasure to go to Tito's object feed
and go from oldest to newest and experience that for themselves.
But how do you feel when you look at your progress and what this space has done as far
as inspiring and motivating and pushing you to innovate your own work?
Yeah, it's so weird in a good sense.
It's like open doors and to a lot of things like friends, like knowledge and the opportunity and you can learn. It's
like from the internet era, internet digital era, you can learn many things
from the youtube and yeah
you can search anything you want but it's a different i i think uh when you can talk directly
uh to the people and uh it just feels different so when you go through the uh your
my object profile my own object profile and yeah obviously you you bring up the first one that
that bring me to like some sort of a journey like there is some changes some improvement in terms of the style, in terms of the art style, and even how I write something, how
I write the descriptions.
So yeah, it's fun to see the development, to see the progress.
And also just, I always find it interesting to see artists genesis pieces and like the message behind them
and for you the beginning of your journey you quite literally are like hitting the ground running
with like thoughts of how you can apply your art to the blockchain and that's literally your first
artworks message in a way like it's awesome um so definitely we have that pin to the top of the gem thread
and uh it's one of the reasons i picked it is because it really does kind of
it's it visually like showcases the trajectory for you because you've done fairly well as far
as a tezos artist and like having your work shared and talked about and showcased and
I want to talk more about the friendships that you were saying,
because I know that you've started like a bigger,
like in-person initiative as well.
so many Twitter spaces back at the time.
So I kind of jump hop on hop off from the blockchain to other blockchain.
So yeah, talk to people from Ethereum, from Tezos and from Solana and stuff.
from Tezos and from Solana and stuff.
Somehow I get connected with the friends from Tezos.
From many countries, which is very interesting.
So yeah, I was really enjoying the Twitter space stuff.
So yeah, I was really enjoying the Twitter space stuff.
I can know people very interested in a very instant way and maintain the friendship until
So yeah, really interesting to me and uh again i didn't think that way before uh before this
and um i also was i think i was referring more to the creative studio that you have in real life
and how you've applied that to the Web3 practice.
Oh yeah, so before this NFT journey,
I'm running a creative studio until right now.
So I have other three partners.
They also in the Web3 space,
there is a Mac, he's a pixel artist,
and Spirozi is a photographer and also collector of the
nft and also there is a tiffany uh sisters a little sister's mac uh she is a writer and
Yeah, so the studio is there before the NFT, and thank God we're still running that.
So it's been 13 years ago.
Mostly we are, yeah, we are a of 15 people, mostly Indonesian.
But right now, we are still running as a real life job.
So I'm not, for better or worse, I'm not a full time visual artist or musician.
So right now, we are trying to integrate what we have in the studio, which the Web2 studio
And right now we are trying to integrate the Web3 stuff.
Especially right now we do a lot of stuff for Tezos ecosystem, which is really interesting. And we are really grateful for that,
to do the things to the community that we like.
So yeah, still running right now.
And so far, it's an interesting journey for me and my friends.
That's something that I'm not sure I personally connected the dots with.
And I just want to clarify, for example, we have like communities in the space like Bosque Gracias, where you have a handful of really powerful artists that on their own are doing
a lot in the space, but they're all associated with this real world entity.
And what I think I just connected the dots with it is like you and Mech
and a handful of other pretty influential Tezos names
are part of that same real life circle.
So me and Mech, we are from the university, same university.
We are studying visual communication design, graphic design.
So yeah, our studio is doing some creative stuff like logo, branding, website, apps design.
And yeah, we've been doing that quite long uh and when the yeah
i want to highlight this one as well so when the nfc uh journey uh open so it's like uh giving the door to you know put our uh another creative sites that we cannot put on the uh studio sometimes so
the we are trying to integrate that which is uh dream comes through i I guess. Like we can do that we like and
we can put on the our studio. That is
we didn't think that before.
kind of separate that two things like okay, this is design and this is the art and now it's kind of
This is the art. And now it's kind of able to get mixed.
Like you can put the design stuff and the art stuff and even the music stuff.
That's one of the things I absolutely love that I think that is part of the evolution.
like something that i feel like this experience with blockchain and nfts is offering is is this
like almost subconscious evolution of what we start seeing as art including more and more steps
of the workflow and process to the end result like the fact that we're starting to see calligraphy nfts and poetry nfts and you know all these very
very nuanced like steps within a bigger process it's really fun to see it really is fun to see
people start seeing more and more things as art in themselves. Yeah, exactly.
I mean, Tezos, it's sort of like do it your own way,
or punk movement kind of stuff.
Yeah, I mean, I tried another blockchain,
and one of the blockchain asked for utility and stuff
that I don't really understand back at the time
And so that's why I stay in they just like okay. This is like a free playground, and I love the people and
Yeah, like it's either music or even just
Every Style of art that yeah that kind of things that I fall in love
to right now it's yeah every day it's like you find something else that you didn't realize that
you could appreciate and you know I that's something I'm actually really enjoying about
you know test tones as far as a segue, something
that we're both doing right now.
Um, I'd love to hear your experience as somebody brand new to the, the league.
Um, how has your experience been so far, uh, creating in that environment?
That was my, uh, right the the season is my first season and
i just remembered that actually on the first season uh someone i forgot who is but uh yeah
offering me the uh the invitation like do you want to join uh this event so that that was uh very new but i kind of afraid
uh back at the time because the time zones things and you know i don't i didn't really have uh the
skill to manage the time because I have the nine to five things, the real life job and
the taste on things, which is the have the challenge in the time zone things. But so
the season, I kind of have more confidence to manage that,
even though it's still quite late in my time zone.
And I really enjoyed the format, you know,
with the impromptu making it uh making a piece and i signed up as a musician not a visual artist
uh that that is interesting for me so yeah i i kind of have the playground that i like
uh from long time ago and yeah to collaborate with different people from different country which
have a very uh difference of time zones and different way to speak and that uh that things
you have to mix mix it well in the three hours.
So yeah, I really enjoy the format.
And I also love the keywords of the taste tones,
Those are two things that I love until right now.
especially because if you look at your beginning to now story on Tezos, you had some
cool, really hidden gem collaborations
If you go to Tito's earlier
stuff, there's some really fun
But then there's this long
stage of very, very visual
that we see a lot because it just that's
what this space pushes you towards in a way but then to have that really kind of natural organic
full circle through tez tones that enables you to just like you said kind of have your original
playground back it's really cool and i feel like you can hear that excitement and passion in some
of these initial songs uh and that's kind of what i was leading to asking is like what was your
contribution for example to the crazy bunny uh piece that we played at the beginning were you
the sole uh music artist or who's doing what so So the funny story is on the last match
cannot be able to join the match
because he got sick, I think.
So just me at that match.
So I'm doing both of them.
So I'm doing the music and I'm also doing the art.
So that's why it says in the actual description art by Tito,
because literally it was a one man team that match.
Yeah. Unfortunately I don't have, I didn't realize that.
I didn't have any friends.
Well, that's almost, that's, that's, that's sad to hear in a way,
but also like in a way more impressive even, because that piece
unrushed and collaborative
that moment, I'd say that's a testament
to your ability to handle the pressure
spectrum that you are able to illustrate animate create a
song write a song produce a song in three hours like that's freaking impressive man
yeah i mean uh if a better or worse uh it was interesting experience so when the matches started i just
try not to overthink uh for everything i mean i was thinking that which one do i have to start
is it the art or is it the music and somehow my mind's think about the uh
music so that was literally the first uh you know rhythm the the the guitar rhythm that i think so
yeah when i thought that like should i try another but yeah i don't really have time so i just
Yeah, try another, but yeah, I don't really have time.
So I just put that and yeah, try to, you have zero time.
And while I'm recording the music, I'm also, uh, thinking about what kind of, uh, art that I want to make.
So I, uh, I'm choosing the strategy like okay for the art and just
pick my basic things which i like like the black and white simple doodle kind of things so yeah
hopefully that works it did and it's one of those things.
It's kind of like it reminds me of what I see happening with Zero Contract and how artists are experimenting with the art of minimalism and how to make that constraint actually just part of a workflow in a unique art form.
art form and it's something that i'm seeing more and more within test tones is this
this adaptability and how to make it still feel like organic and raw and real and not rushed
um and it's really fun to see i've written guys i can't tell you enough if you're listening and
you haven't tuned in yet test tones this season is different it's special they've got like
an app that helps you kind of organize and follow along and just recently there's the new full on
loop where you can literally go in and interact and earn points and then redeem nfts that are
uh like uh fantasy league cards uh so like there's this whole loop now within where you can go earn them
that are also on object that you can collect uh and we put one of the tito's cards actually in
the gem thread so that y'all can see that um and if you want go ahead and start building your
fantasy league of test tones artists really wild yeah um shout out to hash Hash that invited me to the Tastones.
So yeah, that's also the interesting thing, Yoshi, I think.
It gives the reason, this journey gives the reason to learn.
You know, when right now you can learn literally anything on the youtube and
stuff but you don't really have the reason or the pressure to to to learn so yeah for example from
the taste stones i discussed a lot of many things with hash brown and with you as well and so uh without you realizing it uh
i can know many things like from coding things from hash or from music things from you I learned BandLab when I joined the Testones, which also new knowledge for me.
And it's kind of different from the software that I used to use.
There's so many features that I have to learn and yeah, and I enjoyed the new knowledge that I have because, you know, I discuss with many people.
of just, you know, searching the YouTube.
And I tend to get lost and lost the focus to stay the knowledge
that I want to learn because not big enough of the reason why to learn.
So, yeah, that is a thing that I enjoy and I want to highlight again
it really does kind of push you in a way that i've never experienced and i'm you know 38 years old
like i've been in this space for nine eight and nine eight eight or nine years and then like
seriously there's so many things about it that are like really just unique
to here um and uh i'm you know i think that test tones really does kind of put it all into a package
where you get to experience all of that and it's really a pleasure that you're joining it um and i
honestly hope that our competition against each other is fun because i know that we're going to be competing against
each other here soon yeah uh thanks to taste stones uh so many things uh to learn also uh
has and face stones uh you know makes me learn how to stay awake.
Until, you know, I want to jump a bit about about my studio because we are trying to integrate the what we have right now to the web three
things which we have, we are trying to expand to the international market
trying to expand to the international market uh stuff which have the challenge uh which is the
time zone like we are in indonesia we are so far away from the uh other countries so
yeah uh that is the knowledge that i get as well to stay awake until 1 a.m. So in other words, it's teaching you how to be a degenerate.
And honestly, I've had seasons, I guess you say,
parts of the cycle, I guess you could say,
where I trained myself to change my sleep schedule
to be more present at the peak times when it when it seemed important
to be around uh like back in 2021 i was absolutely up usually for uh the other side of the world
waking up before i'd go to bed oh i see yeah i mean i'm not the nocturnal kind of type because a lot of my friends from the design and art used to stay awake until 2 or 3 a.m.
But yeah, again, the community, the journey, give me the reason, the good reason to, okay, I can stay awake for something good so yeah uh kind of get used to it
for a good reason you do get used to it yeah and then something crazy happens and changes and you
gotta change and adapt again you know yeah you only everything's always gonna change i just want
to say thank you guys so much this is
a beautiful room i appreciate everybody for tuning in today and just i have to say that like of all
the spaces i know that brit has tuned into i actually see her down there hello brit it's great
to see you great to see you meryl great to see roboown, Dreamer, the Tezos community in the building, MB, Rubisco, Dev, Steven, Resva, Libertaz, German in the building, Tezos event calendar, Paper Buddha.
Thank you for being here, guys.
We got Duo de Musica and Retro Manny.
Didn't mean to miss you there, buddy.
Thank you so much, everyone, for being here for another Artsy Fridays.
Real quick, just to reset the room i'm going to read
through a couple of things just to make sure that we are on the same page for stuff that goes on
every week and then we'll dive back into chatting with tito probably close out here in a little bit
with questions if anybody wants to come up and ask questions but for right now if you're tired
of doom scrolling just to stay in the loop the baking sheet has you covered it's a quick weekly
digest that pulls together Tezos news,
big project updates, and community highlights all in one email.
You can sign up at bakingsheet.tezoscommons.org.
The Tezos Community Rewards Program just announced another batch of winners from last month.
If you want to recognize the people in the space that continue showing up,
supporting others, and pushing things forward, make sure to nominate them for Tezos CRP. You can go to
tezoscomments.org slash rewards to fill out a quick form, or you can simply hashtag Tezos CRP
in the comments. Make sure to let us know what category you're nominating these people for.
So that, you know, go ahead and give them a little compliment. Tell them exactly what you feel like they've done for the space as well. Why not? You
know, it actually helps to give them that affirmative extra. Another thing I want to remind everybody
of is we are reaching time for another article of the month. The article of the month is something
that I'm doing where every month we pick five artists off of a list to feature in a
more detailed way through an article format. And if we can only do it if you guys nominate artists.
So make sure to hashtag TezArticle under any comment, any piece of art that an artist is
sharing on Twitter or X. And we would love to continue getting that list growing
so we can continue that initiative.
Make sure to hashtag TezArticle.
Let the artists know what moved you about their art as well.
It is the final day to vote for the Tezos Ecosystem DAO.
So just wanted to remind everybody
that that is an initiative that is ongoing
and actually being utilized.
Anyway, thank you guys so much again.
I appreciate you hanging with me during that little intermission.
Tito, I do have a few more questions for you, and then I figure we'll let people come up and ask any questions they may have, and then we'll let you go and go to bed.
All right. Sounds good. ask any questions they may have, and then we'll let you go and go to bed.
So one thing I wanted to ask you is during the more heavily illustrative era of, let's say, your object feed,
what are some of your favorite moments?
Like what's maybe like a collaboration you've done that really stands out um if you talk about collaboration uh what pops out on my mind is music collaboration
that is also why i joined this in here because yeah i have the i have a place to put
or even both of them. So yeah,
I almost knew that was going to be your answer
because it's such a fantastic piece.
Keep going. Yeah, that was called
after I joined, he finally convinced to join the club
and after yeah he he also got busy with his collection and stuff we decided to put our
music and he's doing the artwork the pixel art the pixel art for the Ode to Adolescence
and that is a one-of-one. Yeah, that was
my favorite piece of collaboration with him.
a steep, I hesitate to say it, statement, but at least
in the top 50 of all of the artworks I've consumed and visualized and listened to and enjoy it on Tezos over the years, it's up there.
It really is a very, very special collaboration.
We also have a pin to the top guys.
Thank you. We were, we were made that, uh, when we were kita berkata saat kita berbicara
kita ada mesyuarat, seperti mesyuarat
kita sedang menunggu klien
ada band garage I was bringing my iPad and there is a garage band and yeah, we're just doing the music stuff
while we're waiting our client to come and we're doing the presentation and yeah, time flies.
The pieces in the blockchain right now. We're happy for that.
And we actually had Mech on the show a while back.
And actually, I featured this piece in Mech's gem thread.
And that's where I remembered it initially from
and where I originally discovered it.
So if you guys would like,
we can actually have that be an additional thing
we listen to on the outro.
And Kryptonio's got that super pro streaming setup.
DJ Kryptonio will get that going for us at the end.
As far as non-collaborations, do you have like a favorite piece that you've put out on Tezos?
I shouldn't have asked that because I would hate if I was asked that. It would be really hard to answer.
It would be really hard to answer.
You know, like picking up the most personal thing, but I honestly, yeah, it's hard to,
With this thoughts, with this, no, I understand.
thoughts with this no i understand i put you on the spot with a very hard question with the
I put you on the spot with a very hard question.
thoughts collection uh-huh um this is one of those collections i feel like you really decided
to experiment with maximalism um and it's really fun i wish i actually would have incorporated one
of these pieces in the gem thread uh like thoughts from the diner or the dinner okay um like this piece is crazy cool
anyway i'm just i wanted to make sure to any of everybody that's listening the the gem thread
this discussion it's still not all inclusive of the really unique varieties of art you can find
if you go to tito's object. I just want to make that point
that we focused on a lot of the older stuff and a lot of the music, but there's some really,
really powerful middle of Tito's Tezos journey visual illustrations in here as well.
I actually think that we should open up the stage.
Are you comfortable with people coming up and asking you questions?
Yeah, it's not a problem at all.
If anybody wants to come up and ask questions, you are welcome to.
And then I think that we will probably, after that, close out with a couple of songs.
And really appreciate you. I know that it will probably after that close out with a couple of songs and really appreciate you.
I know that it's getting late over there.
Yeah, I'm not sleepy anymore, actually.
Like the sleepy time is already past, so no worries.
You push through to a second wind.
And tomorrow is Saturday.
When is your next match with Zero Time?
So it's Monday night for me.
Yeah, that's so weird for you.
So I have to go to the match until maybe 3 a.m. or almost 4 a.m.
And 6 a.m. or no, no, 6.30 a.m.
I have to take my daughter to school.
So, yeah, that is an interesting life that I am living in.
But, yeah, only for taste stones i i i say to hash brown like
uh usually i reject my hangout request from my friend at night but only for taste stones
i'm willing to do that for the late night yeah so me art my team and your team has like a week off
which is at least kind of nice.
And then we'll be getting back to it on the following weekend.
But I would love to have,
I see a bunch of other Tez Tones people in the room.
I see a couple of other artists that I think that would really,
that actually collect Tito's work.
If anybody wants to come up,
you're welcome to come up and ask questions.
If not, we'll just skip forward and start jamming out some music here in a moment.
And again, thank you guys for coming to another Artsy Friday with Tezos Commons.
We do this every Friday. And a reminder that next week is our community call. The last Friday of
every month, we do a community call where anybody and everybody is welcome to come share what they've been working on, what you've been creating, your experiences as a Tezos artist.
We'd love to hear from you.
And it looks like we do have Ash Brown coming up to speak here.
Hey, how you doing today?
Yeah, just appreciating the space and the tito
appreciation um i guess really quickly one of the things that i think is dope about tito is that
there's like there's there's layers to him as an artist right like at first i was like oh he does
really cool illustrations and it's like wait you do music also and then being able to do a whole
piece like to put in perspective
that that bunny piece tito made that song almost entirely in the first 30 minutes of the match and
then he spent the next two and a half hours doing the animation like he went back and did a tiny bit
of like oh let me mix this a little but he laid down all the tracks of multiple guitars multiple
vocal layers like a guitar solo at the end in like
30 minutes, which I'm an audio engineer by trade.
I ran a recording studio in San Francisco with like two inch tape machine, like legit
It's insane how quick, like the fact that he leads with like the visual art a little,
like I think does a disservice to how amazing he is as a, as an audio musician, but yeah,
um, just been really cool he's
also done the achievement art for the
