Okay, am I here?
You are indeed that little ditty it catches me up every time. How are you, Shadows? All right. Long time no doctor.
Oh, so true. We did a new thing on Creative Work Hour.
What was that? Well, we saw that our Gretchen was doing a sketch and watercolor.
And I'm like, I kept squinting to see it because of course we're all set into zoom, right? Right. And I'm like, oh my god, I'm an idiot.
spotlight her because she had the camera on that sea clamp that's over her desk. So we could see exactly what she was doing with the watercolor and how she would like. She would wick the water and the paint off the brush.
If you just kind of see her little workflow there and I'm like, "Oh my gosh, she makes that painting look so doable." I should spotlight that. So I did. And so then everybody had a full screen of her working and it was like, "Ah."
She was down with it. Are you kidding me? She's great. She does not have a problem getting in front of people.
- There's the truth. - Yeah.
Okay, so she about to be coming on momentarily and we don't know exactly at what point we will see Jennifer, but we will see her.
Yep. Oh yeah, she won't be happy if she misses this.
No, she won't. Oh good. Hey FQ, nice to see you here. And very effectively written profile. Bullshit artist, love it. See we can say that because I'm not
And he left. And he left. And he left.
Oh, yeah, so just coming right exactly out of two hours of creative work hour. I'm like, oh, please hurry up hurry up. I gotta get on the air. Yeah.
There's FQ again. Where is she?
I bet Shoeble will be along soon, but I am just going to take just a moment.
Hiya! Take just a moment and send him a DM with a link.
I tag them in this court as well.
Okay, so I'm coming right back to us and...
Hi FQ. Yeah, thanks for coming. We're kind of putting the show together here. How are you? I just sent you a microphone.
It may be a time of day, but it's not great to be speaking in one's full voice. Hey, FQ, can you talk? Hey, I know what's up. There you are. Yeah, good to see you. So I see that you're a broadcaster to
that also mean that you're a podcaster? Oh God, I never got around to podcasting. I wanted to for the longest time never did. I don't know. I've never been able to do it. I get what I also
because I'm probably just lazy even you know. Hey, let's hear it from lazy. Why? Lazy rocks I tell you. Yeah, hi, Bobbi. Good to see you guys. And also when you when you do video for a long time
you get addicted to it and then not talking without a face kind of becomes weird. Well, what do you define a podcast? I think it's a matter of what you would call a podcast. Well, some people are kind of, it's not
be an interview and it's got to be on the audio and other people like if you want to do
video and you want to just talk on yourself that's okay so 10
Because most major audio podcasters have started releasing a video with it because I think just listening to an audio I don't think podcast really became as powerful as cut-off and you know all the big ones are now I've
are releasing videos as well and they get seen more in terms of in shape of reels and you know short pieces or even long pieces. So yeah it says it's become quite muddled some when the middle.
You may have to you may have to work that magic that you work shadows when your voice goes wonky. Oh, you mean leaving them back because it's way too
I was trying not to say, "Hey shadows, how about you, Steve?"
You just have to go to listener and come back. Don't have to leave.
Oh, we've been through this hundreds of times. Is it an ongoing problem with that? Oh my goodness, it is. It's not the fun problem, is it now? Are you a regular partner?
Castor over you cast her I don't what's right term is for that. Well, that's why I'm like I'm with fq because you're like yeah, I'm kind of lazy. I'm like me I'm kind of lazy for me it is now easier just to turn on this live show and
Exactly. It's one one button away bunch of people. Be as long as you're ready for a while and go to sleep. Yeah, but the thing of you. Here's the thing. There she is back. Let me throw her her pull up her throne her throne seat.
There we go. And Jennifer got caught on a client call and I'm like, you mean people pay a new money? Get preference over me. But what I can say about the issue of
podcasting, live casting, video casting, whatever casting you want to you want to categorize. I do find that when I have done podcast episodes, solo,
there's a different persona.
that takes to the mic and it's a very intimate.
really intimate sound that I never have anywhere else.
And so I think that's just one of the tools my toolkit. I talk about the monologues. Yeah, as in monologue, but as if being an audience of people listening, that it's just one person who may be who may be
like, you know, they're done with the day, stick them with a fork. They can't do anything else. And they're just not having a problem. I'm good at doing five, six, seven, eight, 10 minute monologues with a video. I mean, on TV screen, but
God doing an audio monologue? I've seen people do it even on spaces. I don't know if I could wing it. You know you could. I could but I don't know if it would sustain an audience. Like it might not be fun at first. What? I'm not.
I can go on granting I'm so full of myself I can do it forever but the thing is that I'm absolutely aware of it I have no issues admitting to it either but I don't know if an audience would sustain
That's the only thing. It could be like, the thing in the wind. Nobody there. Excuse my French. I didn't hear it.
and we're not multi-castings, so you're, you're a-okay. Oh, I keep saying hi to Gretchen, but then I don't give her any powers. It's hard for you to answer that.
What's that shadows?
That's the voice by the way.
Not much of an improvement, I'm afraid.
try something
So while she's trying that, I'll tell you I'm amused by the subcomments. The word podcast. I'm a word-argering person. As you said, it's involved with the truth.
I view it as any kind of audio video or both community of one or more. And my community is in this song, that's cool.
That is cool. So what kinds of things have you tried, Bobby? Well, I like the gentleman there. You know, I have given some serious thought. We even started to outline my first podcast that I still intend on doing.
But for now I jump in, I've co-hosted. I, uh, you know, I said, "Jump in, go a lot of them." As you noted, you jump in, you, you, you read the room and, you know, at some point, you decide to jump out or dance.
And I view it as you're just similarly at least initially without the audience.
and audience decides if the topic or whatever has value to listen. But I do come from a completely different perspective. Sure, I love making money.
But I'm at a point where this does not have to generate revenue for me, what I do. And I find that very releasing.
and very liberating.
So, yeah, I get to dabble on my own nickel.
And that's a nickel I could spend.
That sounds very perspective.
And Luke who has showed up, Shadows, it's Stewart. - It's on that. - Nana. - How's the sound?
Still choppy. Okay, I guess I'm gonna have to leave him to back again that looks like Twitter is
walking up again. Yeah. And you heard it here folks. And absolutely too. Just look back on the journalist comment. This issue we're dealing with and others have radically surged since the new owner took over.
and his actions.
Oh, and there's Fratial. Yeah. Look at that. Fratial. Hi, how are you? Is it just blisteringly hot in your part of California?
on British. There's a little bit of I'm I'm pretty sure I was gonna say I didn't know she connected yet. So go ahead Rachel. Oh hi hi guys. I saw that you were hosting Ellisandra and Shadow. So I came in here and I was like, ooh what's going on man.
No, it's actually beautiful. It's in the 70s right now. Oh, that's lovely. I'm actually not in Venice, California, but Venice. Oh, nice. I'm so jelly. Is it beautiful?
Well, it's beautiful, but let me tell you I can't tolerate that kind of heat in an intense sunshine. Like I just will I will in a heartbeat. I saw something that said that Europe was having like a you know a heat wave and most
homes don't have air conditioning. I imagine hotels would, but that's got to be really tough for people who are used to, you know, whether or where they can go out in it. You know, when it's hot and humid like that, it's just really hard to find.
So sending you cool thoughts. I really do. We did we did two solid hours of creative work hour before I turned on the open sign here. I'm glad to be here.
Rachel, I know it's been too long since we've seen each other. Oh my gosh. And we even text. I mean, it's really interesting how you become such good friends with certain people. We've never met in real life. We've, well, we have zoomed. I've seen your face in real life beyond an avatar.
It was very fun. Love you, girl. Yeah. And you know, and what I tell the people that that that we know the creatives that we know is don't worry about the link. Just go to Twitter and if I have a yellow yellow what if I have a purple a purple kind of glue
lowly gradient line around my avatar and poke me in the face and you'll come to the space. Yeah, I think the thing that most people don't understand is that they can't speak unless they're on, you know, mobile. And so for whatever reason, you know, I think you figured out
pretty quickly when you're listening to a space and you're not able to request the mic, but for some people that it's very confusing and they're like not super tech savvy anyway, so they get a little freaked out by it. Weird. Yeah. Yeah. I wish they had it on on desktop. Maybe that's coming. I don't know.
I wouldn't hold your breath. I know. Have you heard anything? The person I ask is Madeline Sklar. She runs the Twitter Smarter Chats on or spaces, I guess on Thursday.
She was doing both the online writing, you know, typing chat as well as the audio space. And so after a couple of years of this, she's like, forget it. I'm just doing spaces now. And I get it. That's what I do.
I switched my two weekly chats to spaces, mostly for that reason, but whether it's going to be on desktop, I don't know. I would ask Madeline what she's heard.
Yeah, Madeline's great. Is really she's really wonderful. She's on top of everything.
There's usually three of us co-hosting this thing together and Jennifer is still with a client. So she's working out something there and she'll be here soon. But the question is, "Shabby, do you think Shoev is?"
So are you asking me? Oh, I was asking shadows of she. Have you met Shub yet? No, hi, Shub.
We're trying to find out. I was like, hey, no, I've not met him.
Well, yeah, he's a hoot. He's a real hoot. And he's an idiot, so we move the time to hear. I wondered, because I usually don't see you on in the mornings.
No, no. So shadows can we do a sound check for you again?
can I have to ask you Rachel, what is this tiny blue dot? Not the blue check, but the blue dot that's by shadows, um, roll. I don't know. I don't see that.
There we go. I think it's oh my god, I've answered my own question. She's like, can I be a co-host again? Thank you. Ah, so she was requesting. That's what you had to grant the request. That's what that blue dot is. Ah, okay. I didn't know that.
Okay. - Shadows, can we hear you now?
Are you kidding me?
Do you want to make me co-host? I'll be quiet. If that's helpful to you.
You don't have to be quiet. You don't have to be quiet, but I will.
Okay, all right. That is getting to negotiate with whatever pride ideas that she has to bring herself back. Recently we've had really, really good luck, good luck with her account being able to in full voice, I forget how to say that in Italian, but in full voice
being able to participate all time has been wonderful. And yes, Stuart, I'm so glad that you're here. When we move it earlier, then you're not tempted to get up in the night and then get on Twitter spaces. So
Yeah, it's daylight where we both are for sure.
and Gretchen, how did you feel about being spotlighted?
on Creative Work Hour.
Oh, I don't think she has a mind. Hey, sorry. I switched from Wi-Fi to data and it killed me. It booted me from this space. Weird.
Yeah, is that normal? Well normally I what I didn't know I was gonna jump into the space, but I saw you and I was like ooh, I'll send her so I jumped in but normally I would turn off the Wi-Fi on my phone and just use data for the duration of the space and I have my own space today in a little
And so usually what I do is I go in and I see if there's an update and I manually push the update through and then I switch to data and then I've stopped for the most part having issues with spaces doing those two things. Yeah, Ali.
There we go. I see Stuart now. So tell us about Italy.
I haven't seen much of it, but I can tell you that I got erotic on the way here from London. I'm so sorry. No, son.
And then the only way to get to Marano is by boat. And then I so I got I got see sick. Oh Lord. I'm sorry. It's like you. It means trains and automobiles just to get there. True, true. Because I was on a train from from Rochester. I spent the
We get RIT in the color science lab. And so that was a seven hour ride from Rochester to New York City. And we got -- I got to meet another one of the creatives from Creative Work Hour, Dr. Melanie. So that was fun the next day. On Saturday, I get the flight to London on Sunday
get the flight. I meet up with Devon, we get the flight together to Venice. And where the boat let us off was in, we'll just say boat Jack nowhere in on Marano and all of the heavy bags. We had to
Okay, all of my heavy bags, we had to lug from the far end. Now, this is a good problem because we were along the canal. So yes, it was beautiful, but it was hot and I needed to hurl, so it wasn't that fun.
I haven't made up with the canal quite yet. I remember there was one time that I went to Napa Valley and it was hot like that. It was like an August hot heat.
We normally don't have that humanity that you get on the East Coast or in Europe. And it was brutal. And my daughter and I both became heat sick. So that's no fun. I'm sorry you had to deal with that being air sick. I'm okay.
there's nobody don't feel sorry for me. I know but it's still no fun. Yeah. Yeah. So now it makes sense why you live in the desert in Spokane because you don't have to deal with any water and it's
dry heat, not humid. It's it's true. And let me tell you the intensity of the sun is like five times greater. Well, yeah, here. Then it's okay. Washington shadows. Do we have your sweet voice?
Well, you know what? I'm thinking of doing.
And I know this may be, but I'm thinking of calling it.
Is that out of the question? One of our co-hosts is not here. Our featured guest is not here. We can't hear from shadows at all. So I could easily call it. I could. It's the same.
Summer Solstice. They have us doing, you know, the universe wants us to do some other things. I think you're right. I think I'm just instead of like, oh my god, and I think we just
Call it and we go off and do something else like Gretchen says the universe has something else in mind. Go find out what our bliss is elsewhere. Yeah, so I will change the title to something that she
I want to see it say something cheeky. I want that to be the title. Well, I do have Depp in here who is the king of cheek. No, it just needs to say something cheeky.
Literally. Okay, my sweet friends, my loves, the update on the title is coming to you and we're just going to keep this recording right where it is. We'll see you later. We'll see you next week. Bye.
