Welcome to a wonderful AMA with Audit.
And as you know, as you know, it's a second AMA with you.
We dropped out last year, we dropped out last year, we dropped out last year to pursue our vision of a more private, decentralized world.
And here we are, and here we are, and here we are, and here we are, and here we are today, which in its current form is a fully private identity verification solution for companies.
And I know that identity, and I know that identity, and I know that identity, and I know that identity verification solutions are now some kind of buzzwords.
But trust me, but trust me, and there are many differences between them, and if you want to be a responsible user in the Web3 space, I think that you need to know, you need to have at least some basic understanding of how different providers secure and store and take care overall of your personal data.
So, that's kind of it, in a nutshell.
So, can you also take the question from the live community here?
Of course, of course, sure.
So, our first question is, can you tell us more about what Audit is?
So, when I try to explain what Audit is, it really depends on the audience.
But right now, I'm going to choose to go with the more, let's say, middle ground solution.
So, I'm going to explain it with a few technical words, but also simple enough so everyone can understand.
So, basically, Audit is an end-to-end private identity verification system.
So, we address the problem of doing privacy-intrusive identity and KYC checks.
I think you know what KYC is, know your customer.
Where not all information is really required by the business verifying its users.
So, basically, what we do, we help companies to reduce cost and data liabilities because they don't have to store your data on their site.
And, in the same time, we shield the user from the risk of identity fraud or over-identification.
And, here comes the example of, and I don't know if you knew about that, but 1 in 10 Americans have their identity stolen every year in America.
So, 10% of all Americans have their identity stolen in America, and most of them never find out.
And, so, that's a pretty big problem, right?
And, this comes from the fact that there are huge honeypots of data, right?
Because, every time you check yourself in order to access a service or to buy a product, and you send your data to a third party to verify who you are, that data remains somewhere stored.
For, sometimes for a day, sometimes for a week, sometimes for a few years.
And, from a more technological point of view, we are using zero-knowledge proofs.
So, we extract, the app extracts attestations directly from the government-issued documents.
So, we work with passports, with identity documents, without the involvement of the third party I just told you about.
And, I think we're going to dig a little bit deeper in this a bit later.
So, we're going to just take it step by step.
While, having this process instant in enrollment, and trustless in nature.
So, you don't have to trust anyone.
I know it looks a little bit utopic, but we're going to figure it out together.
So, that's really amazing.
So, let's switch back to our audience, how our audience hears.
Let me give Tristan Matthews a chance to ask the audience a question today.
Welcome, Tristan Matthews, to the AMA today.
What is your question for the audience?
Now, you are at it at the speakers.
So, my question is, what is your plan in the near future?
Do you have any strategy to attract a new investor to your platform and keep them long time?
So, there is no need for us to attract investors to our platform because we don't work with investors.
For, like, partnership-wise, this is not our target.
We work with companies which need to verify different proofs, different facts about their users.
And, but if you refer to an investment round, just keep an eye on our Twitter page and we're going to discuss these things.
So, we're going to announce some big news next month.
If you don't mind, I have one question.
So, partnership is always an important factor for every project.
Partnership you guys dream is a great one.
So, how can we individually benefit from it?
So, do you mean how you can benefit from us partnering with a specific company?
So, basically, what's going to happen is the first time you're going to verify with our app is going to take around one minute.
It depends on how fast you can use your phone.
And, the more partnerships we have with companies, the easiest is going to be for you to prove different things about yourself because next time you have to prove that you're over 18 or that you are from Germany or that you are who you say you are, then it's just going to be one click away.
It's going to be that easy.
So, the more partnerships we have, the easiest for people will be to prove things about themselves.
May, do you think it's a better idea to keep the questions at the end of your questions?
Because I might respond to most of the questions people have, and then they can ask additional questions.
So, let's back to the questions we got here and then switch to audience.
Yeah, I think it's easier.
The next question is, what are some of the use cases?
So, basically, at the moment, we can help projects with proof of personhood.
So, projects can block bots or second accounts.
So, we're not going to have any more spam in our Discord channels, Telegram channels, Twitter, AMAs, and so on.
Because if people, okay, this is only if we integrate with that specific community, right?
So, I really believe in this use case, because I'm very tired of being spammed all the time.
And I think you are, too, everyone here.
So, I can't wait to see this happen.
Then, another use case is proof of age.
If you want to access a specific service, or if you want to buy something, you need to be over 18 or over 21, depending on the country.
Then, we can also help companies with proof of citizenship.
So, your project can only serve allowed jurisdictions or reliably blacklist others.
Because, in the way audit works, we are also VPN proof.
And the projects can also verify many other specific facts about their users.
Most information which can be found in people's identity documents.
Like, name, sometimes different projects want to know that the name that the user wanted to use on their platform is their actual name from their identity document.
So, we can play around the data we can extract from identity documents.
So, let's go ahead and jump to another question about Advantage.
So, the question is, what is Audit's advantage over its competitors in the market?
Yeah, that's the favorite question of everyone.
How is our project different?
So, first of all, thank you to everyone for all the reactions.
You're very lovely and I really appreciate that.
And coming back to your question, May.
So, the main differentiator from the other projects is obviously the privacy aspect.
And the person who is concerned about privacy in general must understand this major difference between identity verification providers.
Because in the future, in the very near future, you're going to be able to choose what provider you want to choose to prove to a specific company that you are overeating, for example.
You're going to be able to choose between different providers.
And it's important for you to know what makes it, what makes the difference between them.
Because it's about your personal data here, right?
So, you don't want mistakes to happen.
So, what happens is, every time you want to buy a product or access a service which needs your identity, the process itself consists of two steps.
And this is super important.
Onboarding means that, first, the user sends their identity document to a third party, which verifies it, right?
When you want to buy something online and you have to prove that you're over 18, you have to first send a photo of your identity card somewhere.
For someone to say that, yeah, this identity card is valid, this person has the required age, and so on.
This is what I mean by third party.
Someone has to check that your document is okay.
This step usually, in most of the times, doesn't preserve the user's privacy, right?
Because you have to send the identity document somewhere.
Then, that third party issues the user with some certificate, which they can use to prove that they have been verified.
So, this is where the second step comes in place, where you have now, now that a third party verified that you're over 18, for example,
now, the second step is that you have to send to the alcohol company, for example, that you're over 18.
You have to prove to them that you have the age, the required age to buy alcohol, for example.
Many projects add privacy in this second stage of the process, right?
Because they say, yeah, but the users can prove, they can send these proofs to what company they want, when they want,
they can delete the data after that, and so on.
So, this step is sometimes private.
But the problem is on the second step, when someone has to send that identity document to a third party to be verified, right?
So, this is what sets Audit apart.
We found a way to verify identity documents in full zero knowledge without asking the user to send the identity document to any third party, not even to us.
The user simply generates a zero...
Okay, it sounds very complicated, but in the app, it's just going to be a button.
But what happens in that button is, when you press that button, the user simply generates a ZK proof, a zero knowledge proof, that their document is valid, which happens locally on their phone.
So, no personal data leaves the device, it's kept in your phone, like your notes.
Nobody can access your notes, right?
So, it's locally, the data is locally stored in the phone, and the proof is then verified by DAOs, by projects.
Because when you send the proof from the phone, you don't send the fact that, yes, I am Anna, and I'm over 18.
You just send that this user has been verified, and the user is over 18.
Only the information that's required.
So, and another aspect is that most of the so-called competitors are actually potential partners, as we can help them onboard people in a private manner.
So, because usually projects use third parties, more third parties, so we can just be one of that third party, which is not really a third party, because the user does everything by himself or by herself, without the help of anyone.
So, the things actually make all this stand out is the initial onboarding staff, so users don't need to send their ID documents to any third party, but they will do this step by themselves in a more private way, using ZK, right?
So, let's move to another question I got here, and the question is, what as a major achievement target audit is yet to achieve?
Yes, so, well, it really depends.
Right now, we are also exploring a little bit, because sometimes our project, our company is too private for some specific use cases.
So, let's say that the near major achievement for us is deploying our app in real-world use cases, which will happen in around one month from now, and then the long-term vision and major achievement for us is more complex, let's say, but it basically encapsulates things like protecting kids online or removing bots from social interactions and so on.
So, okay, let's move on to the next question, which is also an interesting one, about challenges that you have been through.
So, the question is, what is the difficulty you have been faced during the development of audit?
For everyone who is building a startup or who is part of a startup right now, I guess you know the main challenges.
So, for us, more specifically, let's split the question into the business side and the technological side.
So, business-wise, it was a challenge at the beginning, so a few months ago, to find partners who believe in a world focused on people's privacy as much as we did.
So, I know it sounds strange, but you'd be surprised how many companies claim to care about protecting their users, their users' data, personal data, when, in fact, this is not the case.
So, these companies, they would very easily reduce the privacy aspect for a little bit more of convenience or for a few seconds for a process which is a few seconds faster than other processes.
So, it's very easy, both in Web3 and in Web2, for companies to give up on privacy for almost any other characteristic which users might like.
So, that was pretty difficult for us to understand exactly who are the partners we really want to create value for, because they really care about giving their users a fully privacy onboarding.
And then, technologically-wise, we encountered two big challenges, so this is for the more techie people.
We encountered two big challenges, and mainly trying to get the zero-knowledge circuits to first be able to verify passports, because passport standards are very old and involve very old cryptographic techniques.
And second, implementing these old techniques in zero-knowledge, because of the performance constraints.
So, just to give you an example to understand, imagine that the app had two gigabytes a few months ago.
Two gigabytes is your folder full of photos, let's say.
Or two or three Instagrams, or something like that.
Now, the app has less than 100 megabytes, which is a normal app in someone's phone.
Or, another example is, a few months ago, it took the app like 10 minutes to prove that you are over 18.
Right now, it takes under 30 seconds.
So, it was a lot of heavy research and talking with top zero-knowledge researchers in the world to figure out a way to make it happen in your phone.
Because if you do it on your laptop, your data is automatically sent somewhere, right?
But if you do it in your phone, this is where the magic happens, because everything is stored in your phone.
So, this was very difficult to make it happen.
Yeah, these are the main ones, let's say.
Yeah, the normal startup challenges everyone encounters.
So, we have been discussing about a lot of difficulties you have faced.
So, let me conclude a little bit about business.
So, it's quite hard to find a partner who also focuses on people's privacy.
And about technological, you have been through two-bit challenges about the ZK Circus.
And the second is the size of the pictures, right?
So, basically, technologically speaking, it was difficult to work with passports.
Because in the way they are built, their standards are very old.
So, it was very difficult to use cutting-edge technology.
And then to make all these things happen in the phone.
That would be the resume, let's say.
Anna, do you mind if I switch back to the community we got here and then we finish the rest part?
Show me your reaction that you're here and I'll give you a chance to ask out it today.
You're now added as speakers.
I can see your heard reactions.
What is your question for artists today?
You are now added as speaker.
My question is, what are the main advantages of blockchain?
And do you have any plan to add more blockchain to your project in the near future?
So, did you ask me if we want to add more blockchain to our project?
To be fair, I don't know how we can add more blockchain to our project, but what we can
do is to integrate with more Web3 projects so the people who love the space will have
a more private way of proving who they are to the beloved projects they use in the Web3 space.
I don't think anyone can add more blockchain to their project overall.
Thank you, Tomas, for being here with us today.
Can I ask one more question?
My question is, partnership is an important factor in for every project.
How do you integrate the partnership into your project and may we know what your future
So, for partnerships, it is quite easy for a company which wants to check anything about
It's quite easy to integrate with us.
What they're going to do is, on their website, if you want to access anything, really, they're
going to, the company will generate the QR code on their website.
Anyone can scan that QR code and then you're going to be sent to Audit app to prove who you
And then from the app, the proof goes back to the website and you're going to be able to
The hardest thing in Audit is the tech behind Audit.
But this is already sorted out.
I have the answers to your questions.
Thank you so much for joining us.
Thank you very much for answering my question.
All right, let's go with the next one.
Welcome John Saviour to be a speaker today.
You have a chance to ask Audit today.
All right, you are now at it at the speaker.
My question for the project is that I see on your Twitter that they have a few followers.
So, how are they going to build their community?
And as we know that community is very important in all these kind of projects.
So, is there any kind of marketing they are doing in terms of bringing investors and community
Thank you for your question.
So, we are not really focusing on building the community right now.
Like, everyone who finds what we do interesting and they care about privacy-focused solutions,
they can follow us on Twitter or LinkedIn or they can join our Telegram community.
Our focus right now is mainly on creating more partnerships.
So, because we're going to impact people's lives, not by having 10,000 people on our Twitter,
but by partnering with companies which need to verify who you are.
So, you don't have to send any personal data to anyone.
This is how we help people the most, by creating more partnerships,
not by having a huge community.
So, we are more that type of company which works behind the scenes mostly.
Like, we do the hard work behind the scenes.
And anyone who wants to hear more about what we're doing,
they can follow our social media accounts or not.
It's not one of our focuses.
Because I think, we really believe that the community has to grow organically
and we're not going to do anything which will buy the followers, let's say.
But in terms of what I'm really talking about is that, okay, I get the part.
So, now you're talking about privacy.
We've seen all these kind of companies, all these kind of businesses that say that
privacy of investors is very secure with them.
And later on, they started selling out investors or their members' privacy.
Is it that we have to use VPN in terms of securing our privacy with you
or there's no need of using any VPN in corruption?
So, it depends on how much the company, which needs to verify who you are,
cares about all these edge cases.
Like, if a company really wants to know who you are and where you are located right now,
I'm not talking about audit right now.
I'm talking about in general.
So, that company can either choose a provider, which will do some checks,
but you might be able to fake where you are via using a VPN or something,
or they might use some solutions which are very, very strict,
and you cannot fake it no matter what you use.
You can use the best VPN in the world.
They're still going to know that you are in Germany right now,
For example, they have their technologies in places, let's say.
So, it really depends on the company,
how strict they want to be with people being able to fake some things about themselves
or how strict they want to be.
There are many providers in the market.
Some of them are more reliable.
Some of them are less reliable, depending on what the company wants.
Because some company might just...
Yeah, that need to know is that some companies will prefer to use something that's less strict,
just because it's going to have more users,
even though some of them should not be on their platform,
just because they care more about the numbers rather than following the rules.
So, it depends on how strict you want to be, really.
But for our app, for Audit,
for some cases, we are VPN-proof, let's say.
Do you have any Discord room whereby I can join?
So, to ask some few questions.
We found it a little bit too spammy for our community.
So, we only have a Telegram channel.
You can find it on our Twitter.
Actually, maybe I can just put the link somewhere in this AMA,
so it's going to be easier for you to join.
I'm going to do that right now, remotely,
but we can keep the conversation.
Thank you for asking your questions.
Very interesting question.
Always awesome for having you here, man.
I'm really glad that you'll go ahead and ask some questions.
So, let's go with the next ones.
I can see you join in the beginnings.
What is your question for Audit today?
You're now Audit as a speaker.
Welcome, Jeff, to the AMA today.
So, my question for Audit is, like,
when developing your project,
what are the greatest challenges you guys face
when developing your project?
So, I think we already responded to this,
but let's resume the longer answer I just gave before.
So, technologically speaking,
if you ask for the development itself,
we encountered two main challenges.
to get the zero-knowledge circuits we have in place
Because in the way passports are made,
they work with some very old technology.
So, it was very difficult to combine them with zero knowledge
as this technology is pretty new
and it's pretty advanced.
And then the second problem was
to implement these old techniques
which are used for the passport
to actually work with zero knowledge
because of the performance constraints.
in order for you to prove that you are over 18,
you had to wait 10 minutes.
Right now, after more research
it takes less than 30 seconds.
So, it was quite difficult to find
the proper way to make everything happen.
which is also easy for the users
because nobody's going to wait 10 minutes
to prove something about themselves, right?
So, what is your number one priority
For us, the number one priority right now
and see exactly how our app behaves
depending on the number of users
which are going to use the app,
depending on the number of companies
which need different facts about their users.
So, we're also exploring and learning
little baby behaves in the market
because we just built it for like one year
bringing it to the world.
So, we are curious to see how
and build it even better.
That's really a great project
We really appreciate you coming on and ask.
I think it's time to switch back
to the questions we got here.
to leverage its partnerships?
because we really believe
that via these partnerships,
because we really protect them
and all the other burdens
sending your identity documents
healthy long-term partnerships
in creating a more private environment
because, as I said earlier,
and how they take care of that.
So, we are looking for partners
which have the same vision as us.
And one of our priorities,
is also to focus on fingering out
a more niche market to address.
So, we're trying to build
what is the best market for us
So, I got another question
