E aí It's quite interesting, really. um
so all right so welcome mr philippe we are actually already live on this one and um
there are already like 14 people viewing this right now or 15 right now
that's the way then with a dummy and i'm going to you yeah nice to meet you as well yeah um well before
before before dummy comes in i want to ask like um how long have you been in tech? Like, how long have you been doing, you know, tech in general?
Startups, building, you know, everything.
Yeah, I think this is the sixth month, sixth year.
Yeah, it's been a long time.
um yeah actually almost seven years but then building different products um around ai automation
um then started crypto uh 2020 yeah that's that's when i dived into crypto now then um for hurupee um we've been working
you know i've been working on hurupee for um three years now uh since 2022 though we've had a couple
of um pivots um here and there but it's been a long time wow that's very interesting um let me see that being isn't in yet
okay let me get this going okay um purpose of 2020 so you would have uh you would have experienced the massive
nft and uh the craziness around that era and then all the boom and bustle ftx and all the
uh blue nander is right were you affected by any of that um yeah um luna caught me um FTX no but then you know FTX affected every market you know everyone
in the market but um you know for Luna it was more like uh losing money in crypto then uh all
the FT craziness um yeah so I think for me I've been I've been in both I think this is my third cycle now um you know there was that 2021 2020 deep then 2022 and
2023 and then at least right now 2024 things are kind of getting better so it's only mostly for
Bitcoin right now but then um you know 2021 2022 that's when um most of us lost money you know
NFTs going to zero uh crypto tokens going to zero uh it's
it's been crazy and then lunar cash terra you know celsius and so many okay okay okay i remember
that era too um so ftx didn't get me um luna i remember okay so in 2020 um i think during uh march there was a particular dip that
happened in march march april major um when the pandemic started right i was in a class teaching
about trading and then the dip happened and i just so happened to be teaching about shorting right and so i made a very good amount of profit
that day right so that was in 2020. ftx happened in 2021. lona happened 2021. i didn't get burnt by
the initial drop in the price of lona right it was you know oh people were sitting with my
come up might go down so i bought in things so you're going like ah i get it it couldn't possibly you know die more but died more it's i actually lost money
at the end of the day on that so yeah it's quite interesting um we have 41 viewers here we're still
having uh technical issues with dummy i don't know why okay okay okay cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
okay let's welcome on stage mr dami mr dami
like only one me this this this has been a hell man like well yeah um hi guys gmgm everyone um nice to be here i'm dami
all right so let's kick this off um so everyone watching um thank you very much for coming to
this our first stream um please retweet or record share uh because we're going to be talking about
something very amazing today right so we're going to be talking about something very amazing today, right?
We're going to be talking about Urupay.
Urupay is a very amazing app platform.
I'm going to allow Mr. Philip to explain everything about what they are doing.
But if you've been around the crypto tech space in Nigeria and Africa,
you'd have heard, you know, one number being thrown around,
you know, 2 million USD in volume.
You know, so many things like that, right?
And it was done by Hurupe.
And today we want to talk about how they did it, you know,
their motivations for building Hurupe and so many other little discussions
So let's share, let's push on WhatsApp, let's do everything possible,
you know, and let's really just have fun and interesting discussions.
I'll be checking Twitter as well for comments.
If you have comments regarding, you know, what we're doing or regarding Urupe.
If you have questions, just drop it in the comments on this particular broadcast.
And I'm going to put on the stage the Urupe landing page because obviously we need to do that right
such a beautiful sexy landing page yeah we are cooking so uh in the next one or two
yeah you're gonna have way better better
nice this is a design focus done and so first team but in any case we've wasted a lot of time
we say we're going to start by six o'clock but we're starting 625 let's get our head with it
or let's get going with it right so without introduction let me do let me do introductions
right mr philip is the ceo of ropey and mr. Dami is the West Africa lead for BASE at the moment.
He's doing a lot of wonderful work and you'll see all the work in the next couple of weeks, right?
So to get started, I'd like to ask Mr. Philip regarding Ropey.
What was the idea like? How did idea you know come about what was the pain points that you felt regarding this application and the reason why you built it
yeah so um as I was telling you earlier on um you know we've been building europe for this is the third
year actually and um how we started is very different um so we started as a um you know
cross-border um money movement up so doing you know payments across borders within africa and
at that time i was living in ghana uh went to study in ghana and so i had this issue of um you know transferring money
between kenya and ghana and kenya and also receiving money and um that's where the first
our first idea came so you know um i was in crypto before and i was thinking um i think i can build
something around you know that can help money movement.
So basically, you know, if I'm in Ghana, you know, how can I transfer money?
If I'm in Kenya, how can I also transfer money?
And that's how we started Hurupe.
So just to fast forward, we started as a money movement, you know, within Africa.
And we used to use stable coins um and um in the early
days it was pretty scrappy so what's what we used to do we just have this app where people make
orders i want to send let's say 2000 k shillings to um to ghana and you know or kenya or and vice
versa and then we would collect the money uh using Momo and M-VSA numbers and
then we finance through the conversion and then send to the end recipient particular discovery
but then later on we automated the whole process and then run that for the next uh almost two years
uh before we pivoted now you know usd banking for everyone and um this came from the aspect
of you know it's very it was pretty hard to scale the business you know umd banking for everyone and um this came from the aspect of you know it's very it was
pretty hard to scale the business you know um i think when you're building africa you have to take
care of all the different payment systems we have you know kenya has mpesa west africa has mtn and
each of them is actually different you know the mtn ghana or the momo in ghana won't primarily be
the same as the mtn or momo in south africa right and so for you
to scale you have to really incorporate so much and um also it was just very hard to scale you
know uh scaling outside the borders you know now trying to capture um for example cross-border
between us and africa or uk uh you know you're just meeting a lot of competitors right everyone
is doing cross-border and um it was just getting to the point where when you're just meeting a lot of competitors right everyone is doing cross border and um just
just getting to the point where uh when you're trying to get new customers you're like i have
like five or ten people who are also doing cross borders why should i use you so there was a lot
of friction and uh we didn't see are we were going to be unique even if you use the book ones because
the whole idea was you know the person with the lowest fees wins right and so for us
competing with fees um wasn't going to be good because it's like a risk to the bottom because
if now someone goes even lower now you go lower it's like all of you are just crushing the market
and so within this time now this is 2024 after i moved to the u.s um and we had actually opened
u.s to africa cross-b that's when we're like hey um i think
there's something we can still do um around more consider pretty unique and that's where the idea
of you know dollar accounts that are backed by stablecoin came in so uh stablecoins were actually
growing pretty fast um 2024 was you know when there's a lot of this thing about US potentially, you know,
alliance, stablecoin, crypto.
And so there was like a growing heat of new startups coming in and
they blast infrastructure and all that.
And that's when we also talked to some of the customers, like, hey,
you know, we love what we pay, but then is it possible for someone to actually
receive dollars directly?
Because most of these remittance apps, they allow the person sending to send the money in dollars but then the person is receiving their
currency and so there's a lot of sometimes value or fees lost within the transaction and so that's
when we came up with the idea of dollar accounts that are backed by stablecoin so if you are a
remote worker if lancer or you
know an individual living outside the us you can get a dollar account and then you can
receive payments directly via ach or wire and all these are second to the coin uh reasons
for using stablecoins because one able to give these dollar accounts to a lot of people
because some dollar accounts are provided only maybe like within those in the us right if you
move to the us or if you're physically here that's when you can get it but then combining stable coins
uh it means that we can offer these accounts to multiple people we can move value or money very
fast and also you know reduce the whole overall operational cost because even today there are
people who provide dollar accounts but then people have to pay like a monthly fee you know the account and all that and so we've been able to create this um
dollar accounts launching euro accounts as well this coming weekend gbp where you can get the
same experience as you get on wise or people and you don't have to pay money if it's way cheaper and it's for everyone yeah that that's a whole lot like you just covered everything right and um it's quite interesting i
i yes i love the story the way you took it from you know the problems that you faced and so now
you're talking about you know the necessary steps for you guys the innovation that you faced and so now you're talking about you know the necessary steps for
you guys the innovation that you guys are doing something caught my something caught my attention
while you were speaking right and i think this is where i'll throw to dami um mr phillip you mentioned
about um cross-border uh transactions in africa being difficult understand right um uh so that mean can you
give some explanation or some you know insights on that
so i think yes yes of course um chief thank you so much destiny and thanks um philip so you know
i am philip i've actually been working together for like three months, four months,
and I've never heard of like this story that I actually told.
But one thing that actually struck me was he mentioned the reason why he actually got into crypto
was because he found it very difficult to move money from Ghana to Kenya and Kenya back to Ghana.
to move money from ghana to kenya and kenya back to ghana and i also schooled in ghana for four
years and i think that was that was that was really what also made crypto make sense to me
because so my parents were in nigeria i was in ghana and then they would have to send my school
fees and also send pockets money to ghana from nigeria and before, I think this was around 2014,
and then I had like the Nigerian
ATM. And so there was this money
into the Nigerian bank and then I'll use the
ATM card in Ghana. It was working.
But in around 2015, 2016,
the CBN cramped the clamped down
on um foreign foreign transactions so that means you cannot use your naira card outside of nigeria
so that was that was where my ohala started like that was really hopefully i started and it goes
to a time that i had to always go back to nigeria to take money in cash and come back to ghana to pay fees and also like
use some for pocket money so it was it was very crazy and so when i actually knew about crypto
it made a lot of sense because of course they could just transmit money for me uh and i could
use it i didn't use it when i was in school but after i finished school actually knew about crypto
crypto but um to actually answer your question destiny there is the problem of sending and
receiving money across countries in africa and it still persists even till today the only thing that
has helped is crypto but even that there is still like a friction with that because like not everyone
actually knows how to use crypto so for instance my mom my dad they all send me money i know about
crypto but they don't know about crypto they don't know it then about binance or buybit or
or base blockchain or usbc or usdt and so it's it's hard for people like them to actually grasp
all of that even though i know about crypto and so that is that is really what we are facing
crypto solves the cross-border remittance issue but it is in in in most cases not all parties
so not the two parties involved in the transaction know about crypto so it's that
one person knows about crypto the other does not or the two don't know about crypto at all
so that is the most um common case and so that's why what group is doing is actually very phenomenal
because if i want to receive money from someone in the us the person does not need to
know about crypto just send the money to me like you're sending it to a us bank account
and then i receive it in usd and i cash it out from other violence by bits or directly from
google pay i offrank it to my bank account do you understand so she doesn't answer the question
the problem is still there. We cannot directly send,
unless both parties know about crypto
we cannot still send money easily
to someone's bank account directly in Ghana.
I also feel like sometimes it's sometimes not even within Africa you know
even for when it comes to these global payments that people are trying to change
um you know for example right now most employers in the US you know some of them don't know about
crypto at all right and it's gonna be very hard for example for a company like Google
to go to their crypto wallet and then send people money right some of these things gonna just be stuck but the people outside the u.s really want crypto because you know it's a liquidation like
if you look at the rates you can get on finance or usdt or any other crypto exchanges they are
really fair um you know and so that's like what people want and so the best way is if you can
allow this business in the u.s not to know that they're using crypto but then the person in africa will probably get it in crypto right so that a company just sees
a young person in a sh or a transfer but then the person in africa or the person in
america is getting exactly what they want and that's like stable ones
all right thank you very much i actually understand this program quite well. I had a situation whereby my junior brother, right, is a pro designer, a pro designer as well. And it works for a client. But getting payments was difficult. I understand, right?
stand right um my junior brother just accepts crypto payments because uh i put him in a crypto
way and so getting payments was difficult i was exploring okay can i do gray or pioneer or these
or that you know compared to the ease with which uh stable coins for example would allow you to receive your money instantly and without stress
and most importantly maybe um fees attached to it right so with all of that said um
uh philip you you you while you were speaking you mentioned something you mentioned
um you know there are like five six seven eight mentioned, you know, there are like 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 different, you know, solutions
trying to solve this particular issue of sending and receiving money globally, right?
So, and you don't compete with price.
Now, I'm not asking you to obviously reveal your secrets or your secret sauce, no.
But what I'll just ask you is, the existing solutions and europee what's the difference
what's what's the difference there yeah um so i'll just start with the most common ones you know
everyone talks about paypal wise and the rest you know um so um most of these um solutions are
actually not available in most parts of the world and um
when we started we were getting mostly customers who have either they can't access people um for
example in tanzania or uh they don't have they have just have challenges with the services right
today maybe they they can access tomorrow there's limitations. And so there's all this like annoyance or like situation
where there's no reliability, right?
You can't rely on this service
because maybe this month it's gonna work,
tomorrow it doesn't work,
tomorrow it has locked your money and all that.
And so that's the first thing you're able to change
where we are able, like right now we are available in,
I think about 60 countries can access our services, which is pretty crazy.
And we're just getting started.
And so, you know, this is, first of all, how you're able to get this accessibility, right?
Apart from that, the other players, I don't want to mention names, who maybe they only provide their services to just one country.
There's one big player everyone knows in Nigeria.
But then their services can only be accessed by those in nigeria right but if you look at european you know in
south africa you can access the service you're in ghana you can access the service you're in
south america you can access the service and so we're able to kind of again um that availability
or that um aspect of you know providing the services to more people,
Then, of course, the aspect of stable coins.
So a lot of these players, you know,
but then when they were building stable coins,
it was still not a thing, right?
Greg just started working in stable coins recently,
but most of the other players that also, you know,
the normal dollar-dollar accounts and not stablecoin-based and all that.
And right now, that's when they're like, okay, stablecoin is becoming a thing.
It can actually make our services more efficient or cheaper or increase accessibility.
And that's when now they're diving into stablecoins.
And so for us, there's also the idea that we are building at the right time when stablecoins
They are going mainstream. There's a lot of that we are building at the right time when stablecoins are becoming a thing, they are going mainstream.
There's a lot of infrastructure for you to build.
And so this means that the product you're going to build is actually like two steps or three steps ahead of everyone else.
And as you keep more innovating, then you become, you're kind of increasing the gap between those who are here before and those who and you right and um apart from that the fees um so in
as much as like you know our fee is not the best um we still feel like we are still within the
competitive edge uh because um just the other day i was sharing her like how how the fees from
different platforms cost uh so most of these platforms one they may not charge you you know
money in and if you're getting the money out right some of them uh there's of course the fuel you're
getting the money in and let's see when you put the conversion within there right because now
you have to convert a dollar to let's say a nigerian naira and someone has to take the dollars
right but like i said if you look at the way we are utilizing stable coins it means that
one the the demand for it is so big that uh there's a high chance that you can actually
even the pool are willing to take the stable coins and people they have a currency there are so many
um you can use exchanges you can use different liquidity providers and all that um there's also
being able to cash out stable coins for free because now you don't need someone to take us
the money within the app and then the other person money out because um for example today
if you are to take uh if like this platform in nigeria that offers the account and they use the
actual dollar right it means that it's very hard for you to convert that dollar to take it to your bank
you know and so they'll have the conversion for you they kind of it's like a code system where
you need to cash out you can only cash out one way which is the local currency
like you got rupee you know you receive dollars it's stablecoin
the dollar and you can actually get it out right and uh apart from that there's just so many other
services we are offering or we are looking
into launch such as cards you know people being able to purchase online and the kind of cards
we're providing they they are more they work good they work well let me just say that because uh we
have this issue of sometimes some of the cards being provided by local banks or even in other
markets they don't work internationally yes so
if you try to purchase online it's not working it's on decline yeah it's it's a big issue it's
a big issue because like um literally for this streaming uh this stream yard we're using i tried
making payments i used like two different cards they were not working i had to resort to cheaper cash and cheaper cash is very expensive for me right uh uh dummy like the the amount that was paid is more than the
amount that was sent let me just leave it at that for now but yeah so this is really a
positive use case for me yeah yeah this is a positive use case for me
but yeah uh sorry for continuation go ahead yeah so those are some of the things we are willing
we are really working on changing uh offering cards that actually work let me say that because
sometimes they it's not even a matter of you offering a product that um you know that has a
difference with the other person you can offer the same thing but you have
something that works something that's reliable right and so cards offer uh that are stable coin
based they can work everywhere because some of these cards we use there they the money is in
local currency and so sometimes those conversions there's no you know there's just a lot of you
know failures with your card pain online but if we're able to
provide these stablecoin based cards which is like a dollar it means that you can work literally
anywhere um yeah apart from that it's just um um also the customer experience um there's something
we did recently which we haven't really announced which is like um uh integrating ai into some of
our services uh for example we have this agent called Pups.
It's an AI agent which can help you, you know,
with different services on Hurupe.
We are launching it this coming week.
So if you have any questions you want to ask,
you can ask this agent, hey, for example,
What are some of the things I should keep in mind?
You know, how do I connect my PayPal with Hurupe?
And so this is something we're actually pioneering in the industry right now. should keep in mind you know how do i connect my paper with huru pay how do i do all that and so
this is something we're actually pioneering in the industry uh right now we are able to also
integrate like good ai like air agents that can actually help people perform different tasks
within the app or even ask questions and um you know those are some of the unique things we are
that are only on hurubi and so sometimes we might use them to justify our costs but uh we are
still trying to also still remain with being affordable costs for everyone yeah
that that is very interesting like it's it's it's it's oh how do i say it now right it's interesting because uh we always talk about the power of stable points
and you know uh it's very helpful in this regard it's very helpful in that regard but unless it's
it's plugged into a platform like group for example i've made so that's what it's like
either card or reducing fees or you know so many of the merit of cases that you've mentioned um
fees or you know so many of the merrily cases that you've mentioned um people that are not in
the crypto space won't understand understand i'm using the word understand quite a lot but in any
case um sadami i would like to now come over to you right um corp has been on base right and so uh it's been viewed the team has been building
you know um gotten some sources uh i'd like to throw a question to you sadami which is uh what is this doing regarding you know stable coins and supporting products like
who pay for example coming up from africa what is this doing in that regard
interesting thanks thanks so much for that question chip and i think one thing that has been quite clear is how big BASE is betting on stablecoins
and not just the existing ones, but also local stablecoins as well.
And I think we can see how aggressive BASE has also been in pushing stablecoins and stablecoin related to one of them is Rupi. Another one that is worth mentioning is AZA.
Please let's stick to Rupi for this session.
One major move from Biz is the local stablecoins initiative.
And the reason for local stablecoins is because...
So most people actually come in and say,
so Danny, what was the use of local stable coins is because so most people actually come and say so dammit what was the use of local stable coins for instance what's the use of cnj and what's the
use of brz the brazilian currency what's the use of idrx indonesian currency and like one thing
most people don't know is when it comes to last mile of ramping it is very very difficult yeah
last mile of ramping it is very very difficult yeah unless unless you actually have like
this local stable coins and that's what they try to solve and so i'll give you a very good example
so for instance you um i'm going to indonesia today you understand and um all i have is usdc on base in my wallet in my coinbase wallet
and then i actually fly to indonesia and when i get there i have two options the first question
is to find a bdc blue change in the indonesian airport and then if i don't have a physical
dollar it's not possible.
So I would have to have traveled with physical cash from my physical cashiers and dollars from Nigeria to Indonesia and then change it at the airport.
That is the first option.
And now the second option that BASE is trying to unlock is if I have USDC on BASE in my Coinbase wallet and I get to Indonesia,
I do need to go and find the Google change.
I can actually change my USDC on base.
I convert it to the Indonesian local stablecoin
called IDRX in my Coinbase wallet.
And then I framp using a local off-ramp partner
that's actually already connected to coinbase wallet
and then i get my indonesian ruper and add up my own indonesian bank account or a friend's
indonesian bank account do you understand so that way i'm not touching cash at all
do you understand and then number two i'm traveling life-free. There is no risk of someone coming to steal my dollar from me or me misplacing my dollar in the airplane or me trying to find where to convert my physical dollar to Indonesian rupa. I've actually been cleared off because of a new invention called the local stablecoin,
So that is like the game plan that BIMS has.
And this is trying to unlock globally.
And so you can actually just approach this to not just Nigeria to Indonesia, but Nigeria
to any country in the world.
Same as, so for instance instance i also want to give
a very good example there are actually a lot of people that are actually living in nigeria now
particularly using the student's roots and they're going to do their masters in the u.s
they understand and now when they get to the u.s they want to pay their school fees as an ingenium
we both know if you actually want to get a dollar you need to go through the central bank and you
need to feel something called a form e and now it is not everyone that gets access to form e
because when you go to meet the bank the bank can tell you we don't have enough forex reserves
and so we cannot issue you dollars what do you do then so then this experience will now have to go
through the back door through different bdcs get black dollar and then send that to their kids.
But what if this parent could actually send their kids USDC and the kids can actually...
So the parents can actually convert their Naira to CNGM, from CNn to usdc send it to their kids the kids on coinbase in the us and
actually from usd to usd in their bank account so like what they're trying to do is we're just
trying to make sure this local stable coin solve the last mile of ramping problem because it's
still very very hard and now in nigeria in kenya it is very very soon easy it is very difficult in places
like central africa so places like mozambique places like southern africa like lesotho places
like central african republic it's very very difficult because these guys actually have
they are they also need usd the same way we also need USD, do you understand?
Well they can't get enough access to it because they don't have enough sophisticated infrastructures
like we do so we have fintechs that actually help us out but these guys in central Africa
they don't do you understand? So one of the things that can help them out is this local stable coins
because then they can actually get access to easily convert these
look out stable coins to usdc and usdc back to local space but the goal one of the things that
this is trying to unlock is a local stable coin so just solve that last mile of ramping problem
that's number one and then number two we are also trying to um um push stablecoin products by like giving them um um resources one thing that i actually love
um guru pay for is i i i don't want to say this but i think uh philip you'll actually forgive me
philip has actually never gotten any financial incentive from this for everything they are doing yep yep and so i'm actually saying
this live they've actually only just gotten marketing support and that marketing support
has unlocked a lot a lot of volume for them for the past three months and so that is something
that base is actually trying to do and better not paying people to come and build or just giving them grants, but actually unlocking
distribution for them in different parts of the world. And so that they can actually get
to get enough volume and enough revenue to keep sustaining themselves. So in a nutshell,
to recap, number one, BASE is better than stable coins through local stable coins
and then number two which is also better on stablecoin products by actually pushing them
out there unlocking distribution marketing and also um connections where possible that's it
that's that's that's that's amazing that's interesting i love the parts of um moving
money the indonesian is not who you give right so moving money from uh you get to indonesia
and you don't have access to the local fiat currency uh using the stable coins you can easily
get access to the currency either into your bank account you open there or through a foreign bank account right
um this next part i want to ask is to to mr phillip and dami you mentioned something about you know
um in i think in nigeria in kenya in ghana it's easier to do to basically receive money right or to do cross-border
transactions and everything but you mentioned it's difficult to do that in
places like Central Africa Republic and so many other places like that. Mr.
Philip can you piece all that issue there by getting USDd getting first into countries like that yeah so um like dami said uh it's pretty easy
in those countries and that's where like we offer direct you know withdrawals you know like like
dami said there are so many fintechs uh willing to you know you can integrate and and work with so
for example right now uh withdrawing in nigeria with joining kenya with joining in
ghana it's straightforward and very easy um but then when it comes to these other countries like
them is saying there's no infrastructure right um for example if you wanna let's say add a country
like mozambique or malawi or lesoto right you need let's say a partner who maybe can take the stable
coins and give you their local currency but then that's where the missing part is and so often it's always banks you know big players who
first of all they don't want to hear about crypto you know the system are kind of closed
and so they're gonna start requiring our licenses and so if you if you're like a builder who is just
getting started you don't have a million dollars on licenses right and so it's also
discourages like builders actually focusing on those markets because they are stressful there's
no infrastructure and so why not just focus on markets that are at least easier to just get
things started um but then like Danny is saying i believe like with more local stable currency
it's gonna make this process easier uh and something i wanted to add was to mention when
for example now that we have um indonesian local currency or nigerian right is philip if philip is
a builder i don't need now to go out there and start looking for integrators you know like looking
for payment providers in in in nigeria who take naira and do all that, right? All I need is, first of all, I can get all these players in the ecosystem,
For example, I go to Coinbase and I ask, okay, which countries do you,
among these countries, is there anyone offering local stable coins, right?
And so I can get all of them together, get the code, integrate quickly.
And so it means that I don't have now to go to indonesia to start
looking for who's the payment provider should i am i supposed to work with here right and so right
now it's all about um like i feel like the whole goal here is kind of um the only way stable cons
are gonna go mainstream is having to not worry about off ramping right whereby um
all of us um can actually use stable coins in our daily use cases and so there's no need for
you to start doing the whole off ramp again how do you convert uh like for example uh usdt to
kenya shillings and because there's a lot of friction there and uh there's someone on twitter some months ago i saw
who said that the future of of of offram is not offram you know that's like the best way we can
look into this whereby if we have local stable coins it means that all the swaps are going to
happen within the app right and so i have usdt on hurubi i want to get naira right i just do a quick swap of converting to
you know nigerian stablecoin and if this is accepted in stores in shops then why do we need
offram right and so that's like the best way all this can go off ramp where the future of having
the best of ramp is actually having no offram battle. And that way we just have all these stablecoins within, being integrated in the apps where
I go to Kenya, on the HuruPay, I swap to a Kenyan stablecoin, I'm able to purchase,
it's able to work like MPSA.
And that's like how you bring everyone online, on-chain.
i want a future i want a future where because from all the discussions now
sure we've been mentioning the big countries kenya ghana nigeria
south africa egypt maybe morocco tunisia or jerry all these you know countries that already already have the
infrastructure that we only use daily but I want a future whereby we have okay
like 40 50 countries in Africa have stable points and it just makes
transfer money so easy like moving money from Nigeriaigeria to togo and then from togo to
to mozambique you understand but yeah why is it so difficult like why is it so difficult i
still don't get it i still don't get it so so i think i think i think for that uh first and
foremost the government of which country have to like have to have they have to allow
you see what what the cng guys saw before they could actually get the provisional license from
said man it was here so actually so you see building stable coins is the easiest part like
the technical part is the easiest part then The technical part is the easiest part.
Then the most difficult part is like integration with banks.
For that one, the government has to allow.
Because if the government does not allow that, there's no way they can integrate with banks.
That is problem number one.
Now problem number two is the government also has to also like accept that stable coin as a legal thing
so what that means is you can spend this table coin as currency in the country
yes so for instance in nigeria we cannot spend cng as a local
you cannot go to the shop and tell them you have to pay them in cngs
because we cannot go to the shop and tell them you have to pay them in cng
so for it's just those two problems number one the the the government's giving access to this
stable point view that's or issue as direct integration with banks so if that is there
someone that wants to integrate that wants to expand into a country.
You don't need to be looking for liquidity markers
or payment service providers in that country.
All you just need is an API gateway
from the local stablecoin,
which is into your product.
So that is just one problem.
The second problem is the central bank
people coin as a legal tender. And I think there's actually a lot of progress on that
front because I will not spill too much, but like some countries that we know, they're
actually trying to, the central banks are coming together to talk to themselves and
hopefully it works out. But let's just see how things go, to be honest.
This one that you're saying the countries are coming together,
I hope it won't be like, what's the name of that centralized currency
that was launched two years ago?
Is it in error or what is it called?
Like, you know, the fact I'm saying, right?
Like, on some level, I think it's better that a team that is, I would say, already in the cryptocurrency space, already understands crypto and doesn't have any ulterior motive or cannot be easily shaken by a government handles this kind of things right like cngm for example i know they are they are very compliant with the governments they are very compliant but they are still their own team in some sort of way right
and so if you can have individuals like that you know popping up in different countries that's
setting off stable coins and convincing the government like you guys have rightly mentioned
convincing the governments of those countries to you know um, to accept stablecoins. I think it's going to actually go far because, um, okay.
I don't want to mention it, but, uh, a group of my friends went to South Africa recently
and, um, there were some issues with, you know, uh, what I'm talking about is actually
the fact that our government simply don't, don't collaborate in Africa. That's what I'm talking about is actually the fact that our governments simply don't collaborate in Africa.
That's what I'm talking about, right?
They went to South Africa and then just traveling between countries, there were differences
like, you know, visa stops, checking this and that.
Where are you going from?
It's just so annoying, right?
It's just so annoying that we don't collaborate in Africa, right?
Look at AFF, for example, expensive within Africa.
We still require visas to visit ourselves within Africa.
And so if we've not even solved that basic aspect of like,
okay, let's collaborate in some sort of way,
how can we not expect, you know,
easy cross-border transaction between countries?
Like I said, again, you know easy cross-border transaction between countries like like i said
again you know major countries are already doing this but i think we need to do it africa-wide
because it's going to unlock so many things it's going to unlock once once money is moving quickly
between countries right we can settle things whether it's trade or so we can settle it more
quickly and progress can move faster abby or am i talking
nonsense exactly so because they are like see all of these students so we have students that
actually sell stops in schools and most of them use whatsapp like nice of them use whatsapp they
use whatsapp to sell their stuff so you see your so so perfume
like they are still they are still entrepreneurs are just and they're just giving like entrepreneurship
the shots but imagine if they can sell their stuff to different countries and get paid
immediately to be honest i like it's one lot a lot a lot of things for so two things
cross-border payment and number two
logistics as well because of course how the how the goods get to those people so like
cross-border is like one of one of those beautiful things that if you can if you can unlock it it's
actually unlocked like a lot of swift fast trade within africa let's just let's just see how it all
goes is what we're actually counting on
in terms of the money movement part yeah but like you're saying um right now like for example you
know um a kenyan for example can't go to nigeria or ghana and then you you know without you hearing
that the immigration process is like it's like they're moving literally out of Africa right some
countries within Africa still require visa which doesn't make which makes no sense right
some of them for example um I saw this aspect where if some if a country is landlocked they
can't access like the ocean and all that uh so you know the goods have to go to another country
right so if you have like four countries in between your country then you
can just imagine all the tax because this country is going to take a share yes move to the other
border they take a share they move and so all this friction means that uh honestly as a continent
you're not progressing or if you're progressing you only have like three winners right you have
you have three winners who have a lot of money and then anyone in between is
three winners who have a lot of money and then anyone in between is really the gap is really wide
really the gap is really wide yeah well in any case oh well it's it's just I
wanted to let that off my shirt because it was getting tiring I think a few days
ago there was someone else that was oh it turned it on Twitter now we turned on
Twitter so was locked at the airport somewhere in Africa for a few hours.
So I think 24 hours or thereabouts.
Going to do the airports.
So many nonsense like that.
But in any case, we will prevail.
Oh, for actually, we already discussed a lot of what out of the box to be honest but in any case
what happens if central banks push back
if central bank i didn't get the last word okay so you know there's been a lot of attack on you
know cryptocurrencies from several governments over the years, right?
If a government, for example,
okay, let me ask it this way.
If a government says, we don't like what you're doing
or we don't love Cibiccoins,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, how do you
handle that kind of situation?
and a tricky one very tricky one yeah and a very tricky one right um so one there's there are two ways you can deal with it uh one you can fight which is like a never-ending fight because you're
gonna fight for like six years or ten years you know uh for example recently you saw the cases of repo uh coinbase and all those exchanges who have been dealing fighting with the government
for the last like seven years right back and forth right it costs money because you have to have
lawyers every time and a lot of things and so um then the other option is for you to pivot right
there are companies who are like okay this is not working there's something still we can build around um stable coins you know that that can be another route you can take
and so for me right now um to be so honest um we would fight i don't know how many resources
um one thing i love about crypto is like how supportive people are i don't know if you guys saw when by bar by bit got hacked you know all the xd yes giving them loans to ensure that we protect our
customers right instead of saying that hey leave by bit it's been hacked come to binance no it was
like an effort of hey uh by bit uh binance sorry okay x all of them they're really supporting this
you know player to ensure that he
also gets back on it because it's like um when you attack one person you're actually attacking
the whole ecosystem because if someone can get hacked on by bit what prevents them not get hacked
on finance right what's the there's there's no like protection or anything anyone can be hacked
anytime right and so one thing i love right now about crypto is that there's this there's a lot of
support uh there's this movement i think it was started by convince called um yeah what was it
called stand with crypto yeah stand with crypto right and so we saw a lot of players you know big
players like circle you know even exchanges all of them coming together and actually fighting for crypto and uh you know
happy to see that right now you know uh the other day i saw the um us discussing how they are going
to start you know crypto regulation especially around starting with stable coins so soon stable
coins should be if i'm not wrong legally go to end in the us uh because you know they're increasing
the dollar dominance they're also making payment very easily
so there's a lot of good news coming around stable coins blockchain itself and you know
seeing the president himself buying crypto and being an advocate of crypto it's pretty good
and i feel like all these other countries will fall into place so there's some good news coming
but just to answer your question again i think right now there is there's not
looking back it's just looking forward and saying you know what we're gonna fight the good fight
um we trust that there is support we're gonna get and uh yeah we're gonna win
all right all right i like just just to add a bit to what he has said um currently uh
to add a bit to what he has said um currently uh the way the rupee works it's it's actually
i don't want to say this if you're a government official here in this place i'm so sorry but like
the way rupee works it's it's not it's it's still very kind of government resistant because of course
they don't really deal with fiat that that that much if you want to off-ramp into your bank account yes they have that option
but most times if you also want to just go from usd from the bank from your from a us bank account
so usdc in your in your wallet that is what they mostly facilitate and so they are not touching or
dealing with fiat that much so i think they are still very very good um and so actually just buttress philip's point
of stable coins like stable coins is currently getting legislated like the stables the stable
coin acts as fast like the first house second reading in the us and you know the us is where
most of these african countries look up to so once that is happening yeah they would also follow
so once that is happening yeah yeah they would also follow suit yeah so this is the golden age to build
a stable coin related or cross-border related or payments on an offerum related products right um
okay okay interesting interesting all right so i really don't have much again to ask you guys. It's been a very small time. I think the last thing I want to understand from Urupe is like, because I wanted to understand what you would react if certain things occurred.
Again, you've spoken a lot about some entities.
But yeah, who uses or which type of individual do you use for a pain?
Yeah, that's a good question.
Wait, you keep saying, okay, maybe it's your accent, sorry.
You keep saying, yeah, like it's like a g so i keep hearing no i'm actually saying yeah or yes okay yeah like i'm agreeing yes okay let me
just say yes um that's a really good question that we've been getting you know even when you're
talking to investors they're asking who is using burpee right who is your ticket uh customer marketing
and um i wouldn't lie when we started we were mostly focused on remote workers and freelancers
that was our new pivot um you know from last year to january uh it was more of like helping remote
workers and freelancers get paid and um you know as you grow as a company you know so does
the vision or where you want to actually be in the next uh 10 years or five years and so right now
where we stand is exactly what you saw on our website homepage is like a global bank for everyone
which means that we can now be used by everyone whether you are a remote worker whether you're a
freelancer whether you are just an individual or
a business you want to get a global you know bank where you can receive payments send money or save
or do a lot of things that's our big vision where you're becoming like um uh let me just say stable
coin bank uh you know the way we have like uh different dollar banks and all that i want to be
like the stable kind bank of the world where you know different stable coins on the way we have like different dollar banks and all that, it's gonna be like the stable coin bank of the world where, you know,
different stable coins on the platform,
we can give the whole world, you know,
access to dollar accounts, euro accounts
and all those kinds of banking services.
And so, yeah, like for example, right now,
like I said, from the start,
we are available in so many countries.
And so we can't even say that we are focused
on Nigeria or Africa, you know, cause we also have demand from other countries. available in so many countries and so we can't even say that we are focused on nigeria or africa
you know because we also have demand from other countries and so we can because you know most
people might know nigeria because of freelancers and remote workers but because of you know we
have even other countries like ghana and south africa and other countries why is it who pay for
different reasons right and so um to just answer your question again uh we are for everyone and uh we are building
the bank for everyone all right all right all right interesting uh i love your response um
it seems you are focusing really hard on distribution uh because you said you're not
just you know focus on nigeria you're also trying to get out there and you know really being so many
places not so many places but being in key locations as quickly as possible and i think
that's that's that's not interesting i've used the word interesting like 10 times now that's
the right direction to go right because when building products distribution is very key
like you need to get it into as much hands as possible,
hands of your users as much as possible, right?
Because number one, there's competition out there.
But number two, if you don't distribute quickly,
you could end up, how that was, where it was,
Let's just say it like that, right?
Sorry, go ahead, Mr. Dami.
There's something that Philip also
didn't mention. Maybe Philip is trying to be modest.
actually blow his trumpet for him
who will pay in just three months as far as like 2.5 million dollars in volume
and they also have like more than 5 000 active users and so that is something that
you don't really see often um so if you are watching this you're an investor you need to be speaking to rupee um if you also
want to partner with them in any way just reach out to philip and actually get get get speaking
because you don't see this kind of growth um and like this group just um validates what they are
doing the the the solution they are providing to people because to be very
honest if i actually want to receive payments from the us today the best option is then because i
know that i can actually get this in usdc and then i can i can i can just get it into my into my into
my wallet either my coinbase wallet or into my finance or buy it so yes that's just what i wanted
something else to add um you know since now you're you're giving me the room to speak um we are also
looking for ambassadors um so not just investors who want to reach out uh we are actively looking
for ambassadors so if you're here and you can really do a good job in terms of ambassadorship
or if you are an influencer um my DMs are open on Twitter
or you can also send us an email, hello at hurupe and say that hey you're looking for
Ambassadorship and all that. There's also a form we've shared on our Twitter page, hurupe
app, there's a form to fill for Ambassadorship. We're looking to go big and uh i'd rather take this chance to really invite who
want to grow with us um yeah i've been very fast we're available in so many countries we are seeing
press volume like jamie's saying uh about 2.5 million dollars within three months which is a
clear um indication of how uh you know big this is becoming and uh how big the demand for stable quantities so that's exactly there uh that is sharing that's our
twitter page uh we pinned a message if you are looking if you're an ambassador if you want to
join our ambassadorship program uh please apply uh and um yeah
you've heard it go and join the who ambassador program if that's up your alley go ahead and do
it's going to win you'll be joining an amazing company you'll be joining a company that wants
to grow with you understand but now we've been talking about you know okay and stable coins and
uh it's it's it's on a whole lot of official official official if you
listen to podcasts in general i show them to really be like that then get starring just
discuss about all the time yeah so so so but i think i want to keep the discussion around
cryptocurrency and blockchain technology right um so to everyone listening as well i think we all
can learn from this particular thing i'm about to ask
will crypto replace banks or would they be a merge into like some sort of hybrid monster system
because if we if we think about it the the the master the figure by which we all came into the crisis with satoshi nakamoto amazing guy uh wish i met him uh if you read some of his articles he wasn't really a big
fan of banks um i think on the blockchain network there's this newspaper about the 2008 uh financial
crisis lehman wait is, is it Lehman?
Lehman Brothers Bank or something, you know, crashed and all of that, right?
So we in the crypto space, we are not really big fans of banks.
So will crypto in general and stable coins and all these new infrastructure,
Because obviously so many, like, banks are pretty pretty opaque they're powerful but they have to
pick do you ever see any replacement like that or would they be some sort of major like you know
private you know blockchains using used to run black banking systems or or private digital yeah um so
i can't 100 say they're gonna replace um stable coins are gonna replace banks one because
um banks are now some banks for example in the us they're already thinking of launching their own stable coins right and so what this means is that instead of them getting replaced they're
actually either building their
own stable coin or integrating existing stable coins so that they can also remain competitive
right but then on the other side there's also a growing uh it's like a trend in tech you know how
things happen um for example if you look at africa there was uh the age where it was just banks
right anywhere you go it's just banks but if you
look at Kenya for example M-Pesa grew so fast that banks had to actually work with M-Pesa
to ensure they don't get replaced you know because M-Pesa took like the whole market
you know everywhere you go M-Pesa even where people are keeping their money M-Pesa right
and so there was this um um time where the banks were like you know what this is becoming so
much so big people are putting their money in mpesa and not in banks and so the banks actually had to
find a way to actually work with the mpesa either have like a savings um or lending programs with
mpesa and that's like how they have been able to find a balance uh in the other sense also was uh
the bank started operating like mpesa in the sense that they opened
different a lot of branches to ensure that they're getting the market fast they launched apps they
are sure that they are giving the same experience as Mpesa app and all that right uh but then you
know sometimes things change and you find like uh there comes a time where something completely get
replaced like right now I can't remember the last time I ever walked to a bank I only even when I have issues you can just call them right and so only maybe money you have
to physically work to the bank right because you know it's annoying you have to go there queue
you know talk to someone who maybe is in the mood or some a lot of things happening right
but then on the flip side there's also the growing increase of stablecoin wallets which are working like banks right because I think more than ever right now people care about
um privacy a lot people care about control and so you never know what might happen in
banks right uh or with you know government issued money and so people like right now I
I hope I don't go to jail but I can finally feel better using using my wallet than my bank uh i only put money in the bank only when i
like only when i when i really need to you know i'm fully into crypto and um
launches the virtual cards then i'm completely off banks because with the card now i can buy
anything uh anywhere i don't think i'll be using a bank my bank anymore because i can receive salary with my hurupe uh i can receive payments i can send payments i can't really why do i need a bank
but these are some of the things banks don't like uh people talking about but uh i feel like yeah
they they probably won't get replaced entirely they're gonna integrate and move fast as well
uh but then there's gonna be a huge competition it's gonna be like it's either it's gonna be like banks versus stable coins you know because
the wallets right now are so many and they are doing so much more yeah all right what about you
uh dummy no no so i i actually just go with what um philip philip said to be honest like stable
coins replacing banks on their own
but like i just feel bound to actually have to work integrate stable coins then use that to like um replace their peak system that would be much much better for them they'll save more
it's much faster the only thing that we can just see is some of these banks particularly the biggest
ones they would they would want to launch their own stable coins because they would want to so stable coins are like the most profitable
companies in the space they make more money yeah that's true usdt makes around 18 million dollars
in a day usdc makes around five billion dollars in a day so So there's no, if you go to Defi Llama today,
there is, it's just USDC then USDC.
So like they are the most profitable.
And so banks can actually see that,
especially the biggest ones, the ones that have distribution,
they can see that and they're like,
let us launch our stablecoins,
so we can make money like that.
But smaller banks don't have to integrate
that USDC or USDc if they get compliant
and then just work with that
you mentioned some big figures just now that's very exciting five million three million
why don't we just launch our own stablecoins and then integrate suits?
I would love to launch a stablecoin.
I'm yelling between us right now.
It's just to get a developer.
Obviously, it's not just to get a developer.
But that's got a lot of money, to be honest.
What was I doing when USC was launching?
The distribution is the main thing, of course.
USDC had a very big advantage
because they were the first mover.
And so they worked with Tron.
Tron worked with Binance.
Gave them that distribution.
USDC is doing similar thing with Coinbase.
So like getting that distribution is the hard part.
But yes, if, and as I was saying,
it will be the biggest bank.
So for instance, JP Morgan,
they actually have good distribution.
And so if they want to launch their own stable coin,
they work with almost all of the central banks in the world.
They can actually do that.
And so there's no need for them,
unless maybe they get into an agreement
where they start to split revenue with either USBC or USBC.
If not that, they would want to do their own thing.
But if you are not JP Morgan,
if you are central bank of Nigeria, you suffer.
That's what distribution keeps coming up.
A lot of people don't realize it, but that's
probably the superpower that you need to understand
navigate. Not navigate, the superpower
to push your product out.
And I think communities, not communities,
communities and platforms like these provide sufficient,
provide sufficient platform.
Sorry, I'm looking for the right word and I'm no Google
and I won't be ashamed to use what i
yeah so platforms like b is provide sufficient platform for you to distribute your applications
i think b is a very great place to build uh you build applications on b and uh i know b has
supported a couple of projects coming out of africa i really appreciate that a lot of work is being done by dami in particular i really like in the last five i think this is
like the most active biz uh he's like yes yes exactly is it's a is a woman uh army on his own
And this, being, of course, in the US,
I'm linked to Coinbase a little bit,
gives you the platform to distribute more easily.
Not obviously if you are being a shit product.
I'm not going to get any distribution, obviously.
But like, if you are being a product that is useful to people within the base, yeah, I think base can help you.
It is a bit of marketing and distribution, as it has been said, that Europe has been, you know, getting some support, not financial support, by the way, not financial support.
So what if there's a marketing distribution, marketing distribution advice connections and so on and
so forth so yeah um if you're listening you're building a product uh you can build on base
and even much more importantly this month base is having something called base batches where
you can view the products oh dami is it out already yes the entire from the entire let me know yes yes yes
this is having these batches right and so break it down very simply you view you view the products
during the hackathon it's really tackathon from the 25th so i think the 11th of me 25th of april
to 11th of me during the hackathon, there will be in real life
obviously being the Chinese, we have
workstations, in real life workstations, we'll be bringing individuals that have built successful applications, big guys. I won't mention them. Come to the real life section and you get them, right? strategy operations uh same formation and so on and so forth they will show you how to properly
set up your your team and build a well-working application now this is the sweetest part let me
remove my glasses right this is the medicated by the way this is the sweetest part
team that successfully build products that are well designed and aesthetically pleasing and
solve problems some of those things
will be selected for an incubation program now yeah this is not just an ordinary incubation
program this is going to be an incubation program that is global right you'll be in the seats with
some of the biggest brightest names building from around the world.
Come on, that's amazing, right?
And if you scale through that,
you would then get funding.
I'm not going to mention the amount.
You can go and research about base batches.
Just go type base batches and see it.
But yeah, that's about it for BASE.
That's about it for Rupay.
it's been swell having you guys here.
And to be honest, I didn't know how this would go.
When me and Dami were discussing it, I was like, okay, let's see.
Dami said, let's test it.
And this has been a very amazing session.
And I'm sure the people listening also loved it as well.
just saying um yeah um but yeah to wrap it all off uh i would like to ask you guys a question
for 20 years or would you rather have your money in stables
i don't think we should even ask uh you know what
bitcoin always whatever happens bitcoin yeah it's true because like yeah we can hear you okay so i'm saying like there's higher probability bitcoin in the next
20 years will be more than more than even more than even one million per bitcoin so like
the upside for bitcoin is way way higher like for that time frame yeah it's hard to believe that um yeah you know 10 years ago 14 15
10 to 15 years ago it was just a dollar and right now we are we are talking about a hundred thousand
dollars bro right and we haven't even gone mainstream so you can just imagine 10 years
from now and banks are okay to hold bitcoin people are okay to hold bitcoin
and um no one was it's gonna be like holding a space rock super super yeah
people don't still understand it yet it's so crazy right like okay i think i was really
okay i think i was reading something talking about it i don't know what this guy is naval
and let's watch the guy one of those guys yeah he said something like the u.s is losing its position
to bitcoin as a reserve currency right or rather the u.s is at risk to lose its position to bitcoin understand the usd rather
sorry not the us and it just got me thinking like yes how many billionaires do we have in the world
currently how many millionaires do we have in the world currently if everyone wants to vote one btc
there's not enough to go around exactly it's not enough to go around. So because of when countries start putting their results,
not even like everything, let's just say 5 to 10%,
from banks to countries to hedge funds to everything,
5 to 10% in BTC, what happens to the price?
And then you can now take advantage of the fact that
Bitcoin is built on a blockchain, meaning faster and more global transfer of money and progress around the world can times two or quadruple or double anyhow.
In any case, sorry for taking your time.
So it was real swell with you guys.
I want us to do this again.
Thank you guys very much, Mr. Spillip. thank you very much mr philip thank you very much
dami for being in this session really love it uh do you guys have anything else to say or anything
else to say before i end the stream um dami you wanna go first okay um to me i i, I'll just say, to be honest, it is not easy.
We actually did this to actually just show how hard it is to actually build a product that people use, to be honest.
Because from outside, you'll see the whole numbers.
But I think with this one hour session, you'll be able to see that.
You'll be able to see where Philip was coming from,
he and the team, and where they are today.
And so, to be honest, it will not be easy.
The journey will not be easy.
If you've tried to build something before,
you know it is definitely not easy.
But all we're just saying here is try to find,
even if you don't want to choose base,
try to find an ecosystem that can support you
that can push you and then actually try to align with them as well so like you can actually just
grow so try to build something that solves problems number one and then try to find an
ecosystem that can support you whilst doing that and then there's one thing that there's something
that we also say in africa and i did if you want to move fast
you move alone or if you want to go far you go with people and so just try to also find like-minded
people that that can support you because you see and that's one thing why we actually used to say
our goal for bees in africa is building an ecosystem of successful builders because you need
people to go along with you in this journey
you cannot go alone even if you have the grit of 1000 people you cannot do this thing alone so
just try to find a set of people that you click with instead of people that can always unlock
help and support so even you need it and just try to form a good bond with them. Oh yeah, that's it from my end. Philip.
Yeah, that's amazing, Dami.
I remember when we first connected
and all the support you've come,
Distribution, I think that's the key thing to take from here.
Distribution wins in as much as having a
good product does um because you know a lot of people can build but then getting the product
into people and having people to use it that's the hard part actually building is easy and even
right now with ai is even easier but then getting your product in the hands of people uh getting it
up there uh it's the head it's the hard part and so you know Dami like we said he's an
ecosystem of on his own a whole whole team so thank you so much maybe I've never said this
before but what you're doing is really amazing supporting builders around the world you know
and you know just keep it up it means a lot to us honestly knowing that hey what we are building
someone is there to support us with distribution with anything that we need connections and all
that also for hosting this call it really gave me an opportunity to talk about what we built
also inspire builders out there even me I just started from here you know listening to people
talk about their products got inspired and today you know i'm here so can see a product of view so to all our listeners um
who are listening to before you know just know you can do it uh just the first step is just to
get started and then you have all this amazing support um you know from dummy from the ecosystem
from builders like us are willing to help you also get your idea out there.
Lastly, about Hurupe, like we said,
we are building the global bank for everyone.
So this is a product where we're not just building for Africa.
I know more than often it's been, you know,
if you're an African from Africa, you know,
African descendant, you have to build a product
But I won't realize that sometimes we don't go global. we don't show the world what we are capable because all we are
focused on is you know philip is going to build for kenya that means going to build for nigeria
but for us in as much as we are trying to build a solution we also trying to show the world that
we can actually be you know we can also build something that can be used by the whole world
right uh if you look at the way americans build their startups they actually build for the entire
world right if you look at most of their product they are they are used everywhere and so it's kind
of the same thing trend in the narrative where we can only build local instead of also building
global for the whole world to actually see that hey you know we also have super talented people
amazing people and uh you know this is one of them and there's just so many more like me out there
this global bank for the world whether you're a business whether you're an individual anywhere
you are you can be able to uh get a dollar account or your account or a gbc account receive payment
save and get access to cards you can purchase things online and many more um apart from that
like i said we have opened a form for those who want to join our
You can access the form on our Twitter page.
You can find me anywhere, philip.hurupe, anywhere you go, philip.hurupe.
And thank you so much, Destiny.
Thank you so much, Dami, for this call.

thank you so much all right thank you um so i just want to share something uh regarding power distribution uh while we're talking uh jesse retweeted uh this uh this our session and we jumped from 590 something views to 812 13 keeps going up
that just very very crazy
well just about ending in any case but yeah if you're just joining if you're just checking us out
checking what's reading out um this is builder's corner uh where we want to talk about you know
people really building things out there um it's a brainchild of sir damilary and i'm here as the
host hosting it and um we'll be doing this concurrently we'll be doing it consistently uh this first session is

said, this session was had
Senator Melari, the West Africa
I already said Africa twice.
But in any case, we've come to the end of the session
with a max of 874 eyes that have seen this piece.
Wow, and it's the first one.
Twitter is weird with the accusations of all these things.
So I would just temper my excitement a little bit.
But I do know that there are people listening very well.
Thank you guys very much.
We hope the next session is amazing for you.
If you enjoyed it, maybe leave a comment.
I think in the next couple of months, hopefully, it hits 100K.
