hey thanks for having me
hey everyone welcome to our spaces we'll just get started in a minute
okay sounds good
Hey, everyone. Thanks for joining in. Today we have with us Antonio from Sveron. In this
session, we will go through Sveron's developments, roadmaps, and their mission for 2024. So, Antonio,
tell us about yourself and your project, and I hope I'm pronouncing your name right.
Yeah, close enough. Yeah, so my name is Chris Antonio, and I'm a developer advocate at Spearon.
Yeah, so if you'd like me to go ahead and dive in. So basically, the mission at Sveron is we want
to offer, you know, a really streamlined developer experience for running decentralized compute and
storage, right? So one way our mission aligns with shardium a lot is we really believe in
putting the power in the community, right? So if you want to make community ownership a reality,
we have to lower the technical bar to deploying infrastructure such as nodes, right? If you need
a whole DevOps team just to deploy, you know, a validator node, that's not very inclusive,
that's not very accessible to the community, you know, so we're all about, you know, lowering the
technical difficulty and just really streamlining the process of being able to run that essential
infrastructure, you know, that web3 needs, you know, for various protocols, you know,
you know, validators, sequencers, indexers, all of that stuff. We're just trying to make it,
you know, get simple, single click, couple minutes to run. And yes, having a centralized
physical infrastructure network, and that's basically our mission.
That's really interesting. Could you take us through the process,
like how easy it is to run a node through Sveron?
So at its core, Sveron is a really composable platform. So you have like this basic method
would be you go onto the Sveron web application, right? And the way you onboard is you use your
existing accounts, such as like GitHub, you know, one click, create your account. And then from there,
we have a product called Marketplace, right? So the Sveron Marketplace is a feature where basically
we take all the hard work of spitting up a node, you know, the configuration, all the various
commands that you have to run, you know, from a DevOps perspective, and we abstract away all
that complexity, right? So basically, you take what's called a Docker container,
which is basically just imagine like, like a lightweight virtual machine. But basically,
it's just a portable way of running software. So we have this Docker container,
that's pre configured, it's all set up already, we pick the exact right node with, you know,
the right RAM, the right CPU, the right amount of SSD storage, we do all the hard work, all the heavy
lifting for you, it's all pre configured. At that point, you basically just need to click a button,
right? So you go out spear rod, you go to the marketplace, you select the node you want to
run such as a shardium validator. And then yeah, we do the heavy lifting for you.
Now that you've put it that way, it sounds quite easy for me, me being a non tech person.
So how did your team come up with this idea? And how long ago was it when you started building Seron?
I mean, I'd like to say we came up with this idea. So I'd be like, if we rewind the clock back to,
let's say 2009, that's when, like, cloud infrastructure started being popular, you know,
at one point, you know, people ran their own data centers, and that to make it easier,
we created the cloud, right? And over time, the cloud has grown more and more complex,
you know, you basically need a certification to even deploy anything on Amazon Web Services,
for instance, you know, so there's a little bit of a backlash against that.
So there's been like, you know, there's been like some firms like Heroku, who like,
they kind of draw this idea for that should be simpler. And then I guess Spiron is the next
evolution of that idea. So basically, what we do is we take what was the idea of the cloud,
you put it on a decentralized physical infrastructure network, so that you don't have
a single point of failure anymore. And then you take all of the complex technical steps,
and you kind of hide it behind an abstraction, where we do all that work ahead of time for you.
And, you know, in addition to the web UI, we also have a telegram bot, you know,
because Spiron is composable, the Spiron backend could hook into anything, a web UI, an app,
even a telegram bot, and you can deploy a node with just a slash command, you know,
just by typing in a command into telegram. Did they answer your question?
Yep, I think that did. And the second part of my question was when did you start building?
Personally, or, or is there Spiron in general?
So, okay, so for personally, for Spiron, when did you start building on shardium, let's say,
and why did you choose shardium?
So, one of the, there's a lot of things about shardium that we love, you know, especially around
your mission. Like, there's a couple things, like, from your mission that we really like,
like, for instance, you refer to the community as the CEO, you know, I really love that. That's,
you know, it's really walking the walk and talking the talk that a lot of
organizations and web three, they say they put the community first, but they don't always do that
in actuality. So if you look at shardium, and your actual, what you actually do,
how open and transparent you are about your, about your decisions, about how you democratize
information, and how you empower the community, that just really aligns with, you know, the true
philosophy of web three, but also with our mission here at Spiron. That's great. So how do you plan
on leveraging the shardium community on Spiron? So, yeah, we have a couple different avenues to
approach here. Like, obviously, like, first and foremost, having like a really robust network of
validators is really important to the security of a protocol, you know, you don't want, you don't want
like a minority to be able to like a minority group of users or validators to be able to execute like a
51% attack, for instance, you know, so, so I guess the first priority is really getting a large
network of validators, primarily based in the community, up and running, running stably, running
robust, resilient nodes and stay up that are really reliable. That's kind of the foundation that you
build, that you build your network on, right? And then, you know, the next step is like supporting
D app developers and, you know, various, you know, services that run up on top of that foundation.
Absolutely, absolutely, Chris. So what would be your top highlight so far?
Pilots, I mean, I could go over some of our milestones from last year, you know, this year is
just getting started. But, you know, we've we've onboarded over 8,000 developers into the spirit
on ecosystem, we've served 42 million API request, you know, we founded web three reinvent, which is a
play on Amazon Web Services reinvent, but for web three, and for decentralized infrastructure
platforms. And we have four nines up time, so that's 99.99% uptime, you know, so yeah, we were
really proud of those achievements. And, you know, another thing is we're adding data centers in
different regions, you know, because that's part of being, you know, globally inclusive, you know,
you want people from from all regions of the world to have equal access to, to the opportunity of
being involved in running the infrastructure of web three, you know, it's a global community,
and we're part of that community. So be fair to say that 2023 was an incredible year for you.
And I hope that 2024 would be even bigger. Absolutely. Yeah. It's got on off to a little
bit of a crazy start. But yeah, yeah, onward and upwards, you know, the the rocket ship emoji is
is the token emoji of web three. And yeah, that's kind of we hope 2024 embodies the rocket ship
emoji. But for all of us in web three. Absolutely. So do you have a message for young founders who
are listening right now? How do they go on building their product?
Well, yeah, so I guess my advice would be to define platforms to find techniques to use things
like like AI, like chat, GPT, like platforms like spear on things that like abstract away the complexity
of of running technology, so that you could laser focus on what's most important to your organization,
you know, as a young founder, you want to lay their focus on your product, you want to lay their
focus on understanding what your users need. And also, you want to focus on building your community,
you know, so yeah, so my advice to founders would be like, like use all the tools out there, use
whatever you can, so that you can absolutely focus on your product and your community because
that's what's most important. That's what differentiates you. And that's how you're going
to have the most impact in web three and, you know, be in technology in general.
That was some advice for everyone. Anyone who has a question, please drop it in the comments,
we'll have it answered. In the meantime, Chris, would you like to share your web
three mission 2024? I know you've already shared it, but for the people listening.
Our web three mission moving forward, yeah, so definitely, you know, when you are, you know,
chasing that world-class developer experience, you know, it's kind of it's a constant iteration,
you know, it involves, you know, really understanding and listening to your users and taking that
feedback back into the product. And, you know, it is constantly streamlining, constantly improving,
you know, interface can always be more intuitive. It can always be more user-friendly. And,
you know, we want to meet the developer, we want to meet the user where they want to interact,
you know, if you want to deploy your infrastructure from a telegram bot,
then we should do that. If you want to deploy infrastructure from your Apple watch,
you know, that's where we're going to meet you, you know. So, yeah, so it's really all about just
really understanding what the community wants and what would really empower them in a way that lets
them, you know, build out this infrastructure that forms the foundation of their communities
and their products where they're really going to make that impact.
And, yes, like you said, onwards and upwards from here.
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I hope it's to the right, you know. Yeah, you got to defy gravity.
To the moon, I think, is the common saying.
I'm sure it's going to be a great year for all of us.
So, we don't have any questions so far. So, Chris, do you have any parting words to say to all of us?
Um, so, yeah, so I guess, like, as we enter in this new year, like,
one thing to focus on is to not get distracted by, you know, all the speculation and the meme
coins and all the news stories and, you know, the ETFs being released and, like, all the narratives
flying around. I think what's really important is to just, like, focus on building, you know,
is just to focus on, you know, those core aspects of your product and your community, you know.
You know, drown out all the noise and the circus of Web3 and crypto in general. And
let's remember that, like, when it comes to attitude, we're just building products and communities
and we're trying to build a new system for the global community. And that's what matters the most.
Correct. And let's build Web3 all together.
Absolutely, yeah. We're all on the same team here at Web3. We're just trying to build a
better system for everyone. Yes. So, that brings us to the end of our session.
Thank you so much for joining in. It was a very insightful session.
Yeah, yeah. Thank you so much for having me. Yeah. And I'm so excited to partner with an amazing
organization like Shardium. And, yeah, let's keep this party going. Yes, let's keep this party
going. Thank you, everyone, for joining in. Okay, yeah. Thank you so much.
