Thank you. Thank you. Hey guys, welcome to the Stax Campfire 3 Spaces.
Just going to do a little mic check there.
Jack, can you hear me?
Loud and clear, bro.
How about me?
Yeah, fantastic.
I think it's the first time out of the three that we've done
that we've both been able to hear each other off the bat.
So fingers crossed for the rest of the space
because we have got an absolutely stacked lineup,
a lot of different guests, a lot of judges.
We're talking all things Biddle Battle.
We're going to announce the winners and the final winner as well,
which is super, super exciting.
I'm personally very, very excited about this space.
I don't know a lot about some
of the projects, so it's going to be really cool to hear about what's going on and some of the
challenges they face, and yeah, a lot to get into. Agreed. You know, this is massive. The amount of
building that just took place in a Stacks ecosystem, how could you just not be completely bullish right now?
ecosystem, how can you just not be completely bullish right now?
Yeah, absolutely. I'm excited to see what they've built.
You know, and it's a huge amount of people that took part in this.
And we'll obviously, we were just waiting for Adam to pop up and kind of go into the process.
I don't want to go into it too much. I'll let him do the honors there.
But yeah, very, very excited to get into this one.
Just waiting for Adam to pop up and we'll dive right in.
I think while we wait for Adam to pop up, we'll do a quick intro of the co-hosts.
So I'm Rubes, for anyone that doesn't know.
I'm the co-founder of Stacks Tools and Leo, and I'm joined by Jack.
I'll let you do the honors there, Jack.
Yeah, I'm Jack.
Honored to be here. Long time in the Stacks ecosystem. You know,
founder of Rue, representing Hermetica. And yeah, we're going to have a great time today.
There's Adam there. Amazing. Welcome, Adam. Hey, guys. Thanks for having me. Good to be with you
again. Yeah, I'm excited to dive right into this.
So obviously we've had the biddle battle.
Do you want to give us an overview of, you know, prizes, challenges, you know, the whole process?
Let's dive straight into it.
Yeah, sure. So lots of stuff to go over today.
So we've launched officially, I think the last time I joined was
at the end of February, and we were teeing up. We were about a week prior to the launch of Biddle
Battle. So if you fast forward a few weeks, what's transpired since then is we launched a two to three
week long Bitcoin competition that's featuring the Stacks blockchain as well as the ICP blockchain.
And these are different protocols, obviously, but the DFINITY Foundation was one of the
partners in this. And so we did have specific opportunities for builders to build on ICP
as well as Stacks. And as a result of that, we had over 400 people register for this competition,
which is way higher than any competition
that we've done in the past.
And then 220 people were actively building
on the DoraHacks platform,
which is where this competition was held.
And at the end of it, we had 96 total submissions,
of which 81 of them made it into the Dora
Hacks Gallery.
So I can share the link for anyone who wants to see all of the final projects.
But they're live, they're up there, and they're really good.
And I mean, yeah, some other fun statistics.
We did about seven hours of workshops on week one.
Week one was all focused on education.
And so we brought in experts from different protocols focusing on different things that they can teach the builders and how to get started and how to utilize their tech.
And we had seven hours or more of workshops.
or more of workshops, we used the DoraHacks platform
to stream these workshops,
and we had over 12,000 views collectively
across all these workshops.
So I don't know if that's 12,000 developers,
but there was 12,000 people tuning in
to watch these workshops all over the world
between YouTube and Binance Live DoraHack channels.
And that was week one.
Week two was all about mentorship.
So we had a variety of different mentors from the Stacks ecosystem,
the ICP ecosystem,
the AWS ecosystem,
also another one of the partners.
And yeah, it was great.
We had a lot of people getting help,
you know, on-site,
one-on-one, one-to-group settings
for people to get their questions answered, help them get over
any challenges that they might be encountering, and ultimately just put them in a position so
they can keep moving forward building their projects. And then week three, which is, I guess,
we're technically wrapping up right now, was dedicated for the judges to be evaluating these projects. And that was a process
because we were not anticipating the results that we had.
As I mentioned, we had just under 100 submissions received.
And for context, we did,
I believe the Stacks ecosystem held six,
maybe five hackathons throughout 2024,
virtual and in-person. And so of those, the most submissions we've had for any hackathon that we've done was somewhere between like upper 40s,
low 50s. And so for this one, 50 was a good, this was one that we put on ourselves, right? So it's
a little bit more of an undertaking there. And we have to do a lot more work to get the word out and to get the reach. And we were very pleased if we would have
gotten 40 to 50 submissions. I would have been floored if we would have gotten 70 submissions.
I never in my wildest dreams thought we would have gotten close to 100 submissions. So when
that came in, that was incredible. And then we basically have to rush the judges through,
hey, guys, we're on a timeline.
We got to get some feedback.
We got to get these evaluations done ASAP.
But with anything, you know, we didn't quite make that timeline.
So we did have to push things back a little bit. We pushed back the announcement of round one, which I can quickly give an overview of in a second.
And then, you know,
round two is where we're basically coming to an end of right now. And so I'll give an overview of round one, and then I'll pass it back to see if there's any other discussions we want to have
before we announce the winner of round two, because that still hasn't been announced yet.
But so, sorry, before I go into the rounds we had the
way that the um the competition was structured was that we had these four themes for the
stacks ecosystem that included uh the bitcoin defy 3.0 digital economy real world utilization
of nfts and ordinals and then the last one was infra and tooling. And including the partners that we had,
each of them also offered a challenge. So the DFINITY Foundation was one of the partners.
They offered an ICP challenge. Amazon Web Services, one of the partners, they offered a
battle with Bedrock challenge. Bedrock is their AI agent platform that they have
that a lot of builders were using
to build out their agents.
And then AI BTC was also a partner on this
and they had their challenge.
So lots of opportunities.
Obviously, this was one of the keys
to reaching so many people.
Lots of opportunities for builders to come in
and participate in something like this and really kind of like expanding the playing field of different types of
projects, different types of ways that different builders can get involved and get going with this.
So last thing I think I'll say before I pass back to rubes is um i'll quickly go through
the results of of each of those themes and then um uh the challenges themselves so um for the uh
we'll start with the bitcoin defi so of the i don't know how many total projects, I think there was roughly around 20 to
25 for Bitcoin DeFi. And of those, there was a few honorable mentions that came in. So again,
I know I'm kind of going all over the place. I'm not sure which order to do this. So before we go into the round one winners,
I'll include what the, like the wild, there was a wild card round that we did. So the way that we
go from round one to round two was of those four themes, we had two winners per theme. We had two
winners for the ICP challenge. We had a winner for the AWS challenge, and then we had one wildcard winner.
So the wildcard winner was basically the top team that the judges selected out of all of the
honorable mentions. And so those 12 teams is who advanced to round two. So with that said, those
12 teams, starting with Bitcoin DeFi, the honorable mentions that came from the Bitcoin DeFi track
was a project called Craxel and Bolt. And then the second place winner of the Bitcoin DeFi track
was a project called BitForward. And first place was a project called BigMarket. So we announced
those on Monday or Tuesday, Monday. And so these teams
have already been informed and they've been preparing for round two. But then also for
moving on into the next theme, which was the 3.0 digital economy, the honorable mentions that we
had there was a project called SkullCoin, which folks who
are listening in, you know, SkullCoin is definitely one of the community favorites, very well known
in the Stacks ecosystem. And then a project called TipCloud. Um, and then the last honorable mention
in the 3.0 digital economy was a project called Creators Web3 Economy. Um, and for folks who are,
or are aware of deorganized media, that was the crew that runs Deorganized
Media. Their platform, Web3 Economy, was really well done, presented, and put together, and they
made it to the honorable mentions. And then for the second place for 3.0 Digital Economy, Culture
Fund. And then first place for 3.0 Digital Economy was StaxTube. So congrats to all those teams moving into the real world and real world utility of NFTs and ordinals.
The honorable mentions from there were a project called, sorry, I already mentioned those.
So second place for that theme went to Truth Chain. And first place of that theme went
to Offers and Counter Offers. And then for the last theme, second place went to Proof of Transfer
or POX agents. And first place went to Blaze Protocol. So that's how the round one finalized and panned out. The overall winner
of those honorable mentions went to the Bolt Protocol team. So what that means is all of the
teams that advanced on to the second round were, I'll quickly go through, Big Market, BitForward,
Culture Fund, StaxTube, Truth Chain, Offers and Counteroffers, POX Agents, Blaze Protocol, Counterparty, which was the winner of the ICP Challenge.
Sorry, second place of ICP Challenge.
CK Boost was the winner, first place winner of the ICP Challenge.
Stax AI was the winner of the AWS Biddle with Bedrock Challenge.
And then the winner of the wildcard, which was that 12th team moving on to round two,
was Bolt Protocol.
So that's how all of round one
and the first three weeks of this competition played out.
And that basically is what brings us here to today.
But I don't want to take the whole stage.
I think I'll pause it there, Rubes,
and pass it back to you.
That was a fantastic overview, Adam.
It doesn't sound like you've been up to much work, to be fair.
So, you know, just talk to the next time.
If you can just double that, that would be great.
But, yeah, definitely well-deserved of maybe a little bit of rest now
because that was a hell of an overview and a fantastic one as well.
So I think it leads on nicely to the challenge hosts.
So we have Varsha from Amazon Web Services there,
which is the Bedrock Challenge.
Welcome, Varsha.
And also, actually, I've just been requested
if Moritz could accept the speaker,
that would be helpful as well for the next one.
But yeah, welcome, Varsha from Amazon Web Services
if you want to go through some of the challenges you set,
what you were looking for,
and how you came to the conclusions you did.
Hello, Moritz.
Okay, while we wait for Varsha, we'll go to you. So you're from DFINITY.
Yes, thank you.
And same question to you, actually. So Adam's kind of explained some of the different rounds there.
If you want to kind of explain your background, some of the challenges you set, what you were looking for.
um yeah any standout submissions how you came to the conclusions you did
Yeah, any standout submissions, how you came to the conclusions you did.
um so yeah first of all um i'm i'm a developer relations engineer at
affinity affinity is the main contributor to the internal computer protocol which in case
you haven't heard of it yet is basically kind of a decentralized cloud with some built-in functionality or
primitives that are quite nice to build on top of bitcoin and for example we have a bitcoin
direct integration so we have the full utxoset from bitcoin available in a smart contract that can be called by other smart contracts to,
for example, get QTXOs for an address or the balance of an address or block headers or the
recent fees or transactions on the Bitcoin network and a couple of other things.
And we also have a technology that we call chain key signatures, which are basically threshold ECDs A and threshold Schnorr signatures.
And what that means, if it sounds weird,
is that basically smart contracts running on the internet computer
can control Bitcoin assets natively.
So they basically have the ability to sign with a dedicated private key.
And yeah, so you can send Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network to a smart contract running on the internet computer
and that smart contract can then control the funds.
That as a quick overview.
So regarding the challenge, I think it was already
mentioned. So we decided to put our challenge into the BTC file track.
And there basically we asked participants to play around with the technologies that I just described.
And I think we had around 15 submissions for that bounty.
And actually we had really nice submissions.
So I wish we maybe had
like a third place
because we only gave out
the first and second place.
But the quality was really,
really good.
I think I also said it
in the winner announcement.
So those were some of the best
hackathon submissions
I've seen in the past three years.
So basically,
since I joined the
DFINITY Foundation. So yeah, we are are all here very very happy with the outcome um especially of
course with the outcome of the two um winners of the bounty ck boost and and counterparty icp was
already mentioned um so yeah very overall very very happy um some happy some really good
conversations we also had with the
two winners already there
now as part of their
prize also receiving
a developer grant so we have like a
grants program here at DFINITY
that you can apply to if you're building
things that you think are worth supporting
and as part of
the prizes here you basically get like auto-approved
into the into the grants program so we are really looking forward to kind of like enhancing and
polishing the the hackathon submissions um i'm not sure if i answered all of the questions um
if if not please uh can you remind me what else you wanted to know or to talk about?
No, that was fantastic.
It sounds like the response to the Buildathon was just absolutely amazing.
What really struck you about the amount of entrance and the quality of the work
and how overall how do you feel about the prospect of building on bitcoin and and how people feel
about it right now based on what you saw during the course of this build-a-thon so what what i
really liked about the submissions is the fact that so usually for a hackathon right the amount
of time depending on the format but usually the amount of time you have to build something is quite limited.
So usually as a developer, you want to build something quick and you might not necessarily want to spend too much time on like the intricacies of the protocol or some like core protocol feature right you just want to get get something out there and ideally win a prize but for the submissions we've seen and that's also due to the fact that
this this bitcoin direct integration that we call it and the janky signatures
they are i would say more of a advanced feature of the internet computer so yeah usually not a
lot of people touch those because it's not so easy to work with right you have to have a good
understanding of bitcoin to be able to leverage them correctly.
And what really struck me was the fact that it seemed like the people that were submitting to this bounty were actually able to digest the information that they needed to build the products that they now submitted.
now submitted. And I mean, both winner teams I haven't seen personally in the ecosystem.
And I mean, both winner teams I haven't seen personally in the ecosystem.
So I assume that they were made aware of the Internet Computer and capabilities that I just
described through this hackathon and that they were able to digest the information correctly,
use the technologies in such a short amount of time. To me, it's like really like mind boggling.
amount of time to me is like really like mind-boggling um and yeah regarding building on top of
bitcoin um so right now here at the kind of like the finiti headquarters we are located in zurich
we have an icp lab uh called icp lab chain fusion icp lab is basically like um an event where we
invite builders from the ecosystem and usually those builders
belong to a specific vertical right and this time this vertical is chain fusion and the chain
fusion vertical basically includes teams that build on top of the Bitcoin direct integration
and that also build on top of the threshold signature so threshold ECD say and threshold
Schnorr so right now i'm in the fourth floor
so the ground floor people are eating pizza and drinking beer because the chain fusion
icp lab kind of like wrapped up and so we have like i don't know like 15 teams currently here
and they are basically half of them are building in the in the btc file um space so when we first
the BTC5 space.
So when we first launched threshold ECDSA
and the Bitcoin Direct Integration,
I think it was like two years ago
or probably, yeah, roughly two years.
I think at that point in time,
there weren't ordinals yet.
And also the BTC5 space wasn't like
as big as it is today, right?
I think in the past two years,
there has been like almost like a Cambrian explosion.
So a lot of attention, a lot of new meta protocols
and in general, a lot of projects building on Bitcoin.
And that was really cool because back then
when we launched this and we kind of like talk to people
like, hey, look, I don't know,
Canisys can create ECTca or nowadays also schnor signatures
they can hold bitcoin they can inscribe um and runes or hedger ordinates and people were
looking at us in kind of a weird way like okay yeah cool but um why would i do this what what
what what what can i build with this and then of of course we had our kind of like thesis
on what you could do with that.
And, but it took quite some time
until the first projects really started
like leveraging this technology.
And it feels like today where it has been shown
that builders in the BTC fire space can make money
and that there's an interest from the community to use the products that they built, that changed quite a bit.
So there was like one, I think, to give credit, right, there was like one project in our ecosystem or one team that built there since Genesis.
Back then they were called Tonic Labs and they were playing around with nfts in
our ecosystem so they had like an nft marketplace and a launchpad um later on they discovered like
this bitcoin integration and they started playing around with ordinals and they had like an
ordinals marketplace built on the ic together um also with a launchpad and then they were like okay
we we need to kind of like create
this Bitcoin native user experience.
And they set out and tried to
optimize for basically
UX speed and also
creating like this native
I use Bitcoin right now experience.
And they launched Odin.fun.
this was, I don't know, probably
some people in this space are aware
of that project, it's basically like
Pump.Fun but
and they were quite successful
with that project
and Bob, the CEO
in the ecosystem on the bitcoin or the btc5 ecosystem for for quite some
time so he's well connected there so basically long story short of the success of odin um people
asked him like hey how do you achieve this right how do you achieve this kind of like native bitcoin
feeling so what is the underlying technology is this all centralized or is it decentralized?
Like what tech stack do you use to enable this?
And of course, he told you those teams.
So now we have like, through this success, we have a couple more teams trying to leverage
this technology that the IC provides to build us,
to deliver this almost like native user almost native Bitcoin user experience
so yeah I'm personally really really really excited about it so I'm very happy that more
and more people are kind of like flocking or more developers are flocking into this this vertical
and it's it really is it's it's impressive how much space has grown in such a short period
of time as evidenced by you know just what we're talking about here today and all these wonderful
builders and judges here and speaking of that i believe we have varsha back from amazon web services
varsha are you there?
Maybe not. Publius. Hey, how about you give us a little insight on what was going on? Yeah, can you hear me?
Oh, yes. Yes, we do hear you. Hey, how are you?
You coming in loud and clear?
Hey, Barster, are you still there?
I don't think she can hear us.
Oh, I think there's a bit of a delay.
These spaces can get a little quirky.
Yes, but I think there's a bit of a delay.
I tell you what, try just logging off and coming back and we'll go on to Publius next and get a little insight and we'll try to bring you back up if that's okay.
Assuming that's okay.
Jim. Yeah yeah good morning
Cedar up here with me
pretty front and center
and trying to push
our sort of
track along in the hackathon
just so he can follow up with whatever I miss.
But yeah, AIBTC is basically a platform that is being built
to allow AI DAOs to finally be a thing.
And we're building on Bitcoin using the Stacks layer.
And the general idea is DAOs, decentralized autonomous organizations,
have been anything but autonomous.
And we see AI as a way to slowly, maybe not so slowly,
but to start to integrate autonomy into DAOs.
So, for example, you as a user can propose something very specific.
You as a user can propose something very specific, and every person that has an agent holding that DAO's token can have the DAO automatically vote on whether that proposal gets approved or not.
And eventually, the AIs will be generating the proposals.
the AIs will be generating the proposals.
So you'll have a fully end-to-end autonomous organization
where agents control tokens and can build
and kind of propel any DAO forward.
So they have their own Twitters and stuff like that.
So we've been moving very, very fast.
We have like five or so people working on this project,
mostly technical.
And before the hackathon started,
we had a sense that we could potentially launch
on mainnet the first AI DAO that's actually autonomous, which was called FACES, which is an AI DAO token that aims to get Bitcoin FACES, the PFP that Cedar and I are rocking right now to be like the number one PFP in the Bitcoin space.
So just like a simple sort of mission, maybe not easy, but simple mission.
And just kind of like, it's a hard hat area.
There's going to be falling rocks.
going to be falling rocks. Let's just test this out on mainnet and see how it goes. We were unable
Let's just test this out on mainnet and see how it goes.
to deploy to mainnet before the end of the competition, so we didn't get to actually run
the competition as we would have liked. It does look like mainnet for this is going to be
launched. We're estimating not this coming Monday, but the following Monday. So that should be pretty
exciting. But if Cedar, if you want to sort of add anything to that, I kind of just wanted to give the
overview of what AIBTC was. Maybe you can give an overview of what the hackathon was going to be
during the time allotted and just let folks know that we can and will sort of still run the hackathon
just after the date we had expected.
So apologies on that.
But it's going to be very, very exciting.
And I think people are going to be surprised by the experience.
yeah happy to chime in and I would say a huge thank you and props to Adam, Ileana, everyone on
Yeah, happy to chime in.
the organizing team because what I was able to see from not just what was happening with other
projects but the interest we were getting as well despite not being able to be ready to onboard people in was just amazing.
So I think this was a great hackathon from my vantage point.
So, yeah, as Publius mentioned there, we're aiming for just over a week from now.
And we'll share some updates on our main handle, which is at AIBTCDev. So whether
you're interested in participating or just hearing updates, you know, that's a good place to look for
updates. And it's going to be a hard hat area. It's very experimental. So what we're looking for people to do as part of our challenge
is going to be submitting proposals to this first AI DAO.
And that's going to be, it's going to be pretty big
because what we're working on launching right now
is agents being able to autonomously vote, conclude, and execute on these proposals.
I'm not sure I'm the only one here, but I can't hear Cedar.
Can you get?
Oh, Cedar, you're back.
Oh, you're back.
Sorry, I don't know how much you missed there.
But yeah, we're really, really excited to have people in the DAO and just experiencing kind of the magic of submitting a proposal that agents will autonomously vote, conclude and execute on.
Amazing. Amazing. It all sounds very, very exciting. We are on quite a limited frame here, so I'm going to have to rush straight on to Varsha. I'm sorry, guys, but it's super exciting and we'll definitely keep an eye on the AI BTC handle there. Welcome Varsha.
Can you all hear me now? Yeah we're determined by hook or crook to get you on but we can we can
hear you loud and clear. Okay wonderful. So yeah I'm Varsha from Amazon Web Services, and our challenge was the Biddle with Bedrock.
There were about five submissions, I believe.
It was, you know, this is the first time we're doing something of this sort with Stacks.
and the one thing that I would have liked to see was the fact that not all of the submissions
actually used Bedrock so it would have been nice to you know have seen more projects with
Bedrock I don't know if there was a bit of a confusion between some of the other tracks and this one.
But yes, the winner was Stacks AI for the Biddle with Bedrock Challenge.
However, there were a few projects that we were impressed with.
However, you know, Bedrock wasn't used.
And so but yeah, Stacks AI was the winner from our challenge
amazing thanks for that uh there Varsha um so Stacks AI I think will be popping up a bit later
on to discuss their project there um we're going to go straight to Kenny to discuss
the Stacks Challenge. So welcome, Kenny. If you want to go over a similar theme here,
what kind of challenges you set, what you were looking for, any standout submissions
from your end for the Stacks Challenge?
Yeah, so I specifically was looking at the DeFi category within our Stacks Challenge.
But overall, with any of these Stacks challenges,
we're always looking for, the main thing is,
what's something that you can do with Bitcoin with Stacks
that you wouldn't be able to do without Stacks?
And that's kind of a guiding philosophy that we use
to look at all these submissions.
And so depending on the category, for the developer tooling,
that might mean that you build something that makes Stacks easier to, for either developers, users, all that kind of stuff.
But I'll quickly speak specifically to the to the DeFi side of things, because that's that's one thing that really got me interested in stacks in the first place.
I like to see a lot of DeFi applications because there's two there's two real things that I like to like people to see building.
And one is, you know, is, what are some traditional finance instruments
that we can bring over to Bitcoin
that we wouldn't be able to do so without Stacks?
And then also what are some existing proven out,
DeFi use cases maybe in other ecosystems
that would work even better
brought over to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
And the top two spots for DeFi for me
really hit both of those, BitForward and BigMarket.
BitForward bringing a well-known investment vehicle, for DeFi for me really hit both of those, Bitforward and BigMarket. Bitforward bringing
a well-known investment vehicle, finance mechanism, futures contracts over to Bitcoin
is really cool. So I really like seeing use cases like that, where we can utilize stacks to
basically build a better decentralized version of financial systems that we already know work
and that already exist. When you look at the fact that two thirds of the world doesn't have access to like robust financial infrastructure when we can bring things that we
know work over to Bitcoin so that anybody can access them. That's always something that's
really exciting to me. And then on the flip side on that with a big market, what I really liked
about what they did is they took a proven use case, specifically prediction markets, and they
brought it over to Bitcoin, but they did it in a really interesting way, which I want to
call out both to just give them a shout out, but also as like a piece of advice for anybody
submitting, you know, hackathon projects or working on any project in the future really is
they did it in a way that you don't actually need to touch stacks at all. If you don't want to,
you can just interact with Bitcoin and they're using stacks under
the hood in order to do that swapping functionality so that we can still have that decentralized
version of a prediction market on Bitcoin.
But you could just be a Bitcoiner and use it.
You don't need to set up anything separate.
And they use catamaran swaps, which is a technique on clarity to do swaps between stacks or SBTC
and Bitcoin.
So I liked that a lot.
But then the second half of it that I was really impressed with is
one thing that you'll notice when you're building out projects like this is
sometimes halfway through, you realize there's some other tool
or resource that's missing in the ecosystem
that you need in order to get your project up and running.
And so rather than using and seeing that as a roadblock, the big market team
just also built that and they built a tool to kind of get Merkle proofs from Bitcoin
transactions, which we can use via clarity to verify that a transaction actually happened.
And so I thought that was really cool too. And just a good one, a good boost for their project.
They were able to do that. They also included a tutorial with it, which was great, but also just
something for other builders to always kind of go through this idea maze as you're building things
out where you realize oh i need this to exist before i build this and you can either treat it
as a roadblock and give up or you can actually then solve that problem too so i was really
impressed with the with that team for doing that but really liked all the submissions
all the submissions. No, that's fantastic. And you're right. This is ultimately why we're here.
You have the majority of the world's population who don't have access to financial services,
and we all believe that Bitcoin's for everyone. And being able to give people that access and that opportunity that that's the most noble mission that i can
think of by far um snazzy let's go on to you how's it going um good to see you again brother what
you got for us today hey can you can you hear me okay loud and clear ah good yeah sorry i actually i actually pressed the speaker button by mistake so
so i wasn't i wasn't quite sure why i was up here uh to be honest but um yeah no just um
just amazed at how many incredible uh builders there are and and um yeah we were just we were very fortunate to uh to be
the winners of the um the nft uh track so um so yeah you know uh myself uh and eric we've we we
founded bns1 which is um the ultimate sort of all-in-one tool for BNS,
where you can manage, you can register, transfer, renew,
and trade your BNS names.
And yeah, I mean, we're four months in.
We're really excited to just continue building
and seeing where we can take this.
But, you know, I mean, I've been in the BNS community for three years now.
I'm part of the core team, so I'm one of five in the core team.
And, yeah, just really excited about the potential of BNS.
I think it's a complete hidden gem and I really want to see
where we can take this. As I say, super grateful to be the round one winners as well. Thank you,
Adam and Kenny and the judges for selecting us, I'll leave it there.
Thanks, Snazzy.
Just so we haven't got that much time on these kind of projects.
We've got, I think it's like 12 to get through.
So where's the best handle to get you guys?
Just because I think everyone in the crowd needs to follow these new projects
coming up and make sure they keep in track with you guys.
Is it the BNSNS handle Snazzy? What's the best one to get you on?
Yeah so one underscore BNS and the website is bns.one. Fantastic, that's definitely everyone
in the crowd needs to get on and follow all these projects coming up.
So you can stay tuned with our updates, the future plans.
All very talented guys and girls that are doing great work here.
And with that, I'll bring up Culture, Culture.fun.
Hey, awesome.
Thank you for having us out.
Yeah, no problems if you want to just you know talk through your experience what you built any future plans and where to where to
catch you for for anything upcoming yeah so the the experience with this hackathon was great
and it really just goes to show when people come together and are inspired what they can persevere through.
So the problem we want to solve is all these rug pull communities on Telegram, Discord, X.
And we started off in a Solana AI hackathon back in January or February, hosted by fundraiser.com, promoted by Andrew Tate.
And eventually, no winners, all sorts of shenanigans.
And I always knew and understood that Bitcoin is that bastion of nobility in my sense.
You find stronger communities.
You find people with a bigger desire and purpose.
And maybe it's because they remember the ethos of what Satoshi brought us here.
So this hackathon was just so well organized.
We're very grateful for all the workshops, the mentoring sessions,
and just the overall organization experience
and the ability to work with clarity, get closer to Bitcoin.
Because what we see is a huge amount of DeFi existing in Solana with the utmost amount of scams.
Bitcoin is the strongest ecosystem.
I'm calling it another chain.
And at the end of the day,
I'm just going to go with you.
Because in the Bitcoin space,
they're celebrating two years.
I think that's monumental.
And it shows what around Bitcoin
is going to bridge that gap
with censorship-resistant chat
and staking and DAOs
implemented into these chats
so that people can really revolve around their cult.
I think that's where I'm at.
Yeah, no, you're 100% right.
You know, there's a different ethos in Bitcoin.
It's noticeable as soon as you enter the ecosystem and the builder space. And we do need to move past some of the shady, short-term practices that have plagued crypto, and we're getting there. And, you know, projects that are building for the right reason,
those are the projects that are worth the support and community is the backbone of all of this.
And if you drive your community
away, what do you have?
Universal,
if you want to come up and talk a little bit,
we'd love to hear from you.
GM, GM, how you doing?
Doing fantastic. How are you today?
Good, really good. Here talking to you from Spain with a sunny day. Everything is perfect.
Yeah, if you want, let me introduce briefly the project we did. Basically, we've been working for a couple of years now in counterparty protocol. For those that don't know, counterparty is the first place where
NFTs pop up, the first tokens on Bitcoin. The problem was that liquidity is really fragmented
because there is no possibility to use a DEX right now and most of
the solution are are fixed so in order to use a ECP technology that after a big research of all
the possible solution for a scale up Bitcoin it was the strongest because first of all is already live, it's not in testnet.
And second of all is the one that is more secure if you compare the validator's nodes,
quote unquote, of the other solutions.
So it was so funny that after we decided, okay, we want to build on ECP.
It was this challenge and this hackathon, so it was kind of perfect timing for us so what we build is the
first step in order to achieve that and it's a motoco module that retrieves all the information
from counterparty in order to be able to access data about the users the assets and so on and
right now we are building the adx to be able to trade with the first tokens on bitcoin ever
that before it was really really hard and for really tech savvy to access so that's basically
what we're doing and if you want to follow us our our project you just can follow this this account
universal slash io and we will be sharing some new software projects.
That's great, thanks for coming up. I've just followed you myself.
Recommend everyone does the same just so we can keep up with what you're building there.
Thanks for sharing that. I think we've got Ronald from
Bolt if you want to come up and discuss what you built for the
Biddle battle. Tell us about your project then any future plans that you've got there.
Participating in Biddle Battle was great.
It was amazing to connect with 10 community members
and see innovative ideas brought to life
in such a short period.
And the recognition definitely motivated me to continue working within
the stacks ecosystem well I have 15 years working as a soft engineer and
recently I decided to stop everything to dedicate myself for full time to blockchain and was what attracted me
and stacks was because it's uh l2 of bitcoin so secured by bitcoin but when i started
and stacks i was quite frustrated because i was expecting to pay transaction fees with BTC and I think a lot
of people in the community who does not understand stacks has the same frustration so I saw a lot
of people asking for this feature on stacks then I decided to create the Bolt protocol that allows users to pay for transaction fee in stacks with
SBTC instead of STX. And I think it provides the usability of the blockchain. Also,
this the blockchain also uh another feature that i add in the boat protocol was because i love
lighting network but i think it's very hard for new users to open channel it's a huge friction that we have in Light Network.
And I saw we could solve it in stacks.
So in both protocol, I use a smart contract
to allow instant transfer with SBTC. bitc and i think it could uh help a lot of the on board of new users and to to help the adoption
of bitcoin and stacks blockchain so the both protocols main goal was to enable existing O objetivo principal dos protocolos foi permitir que os portugueses existentes, como Ledger, Express e outros portugueses,
That's kind of the key to unlocking mainstream adoption is getting rid of these pain points that crypto natives are used to.
It's fantastic to hear from you today.
We're almost out of time here.
Would bring Adam back up.
So, Adam, what do you have for us in terms of parting thoughts?
Well, I guess for parting thoughts, we should announce who won this thing.
I'll have. I guess for parting thoughts, we should announce who won this thing. I'll have,
I guess I have
two things to go here.
So for one, for the builders, for the
participants throughout this competition,
we've been leaving
little breadcrumbs and clues
of some surprises
that were going to be taking place
this week.
So if you haven't noticed yet, if you haven't checked your wallet in the last maybe day
or two, for the participants who submitted their wallet, their Stacks wallet, you should
be looking at a commemorative NFT for the Biddle Battle competition.
So that's exciting.
And the second thing is when we look at, when we
zoom out and look at the bigger picture of these competitions, what's the, what's the main goal is
like, we want to connect builders. We want to encourage builders. We want to do everything we
can to empower builders to consistently build their projects and give them the community, the resources, the support,
the mentorship, the network, the funding opportunities. We want to create as easy of a
path as we can because being a builder in this industry is really difficult and it can be lonely.
So we want to provide resources to help people make it easier for them.
And so that's surprise number two. When we look at what's next, we have this program that's
rolling out starting tomorrow. It's being officially announced today on this space,
first public announcement of Stacks Ascent. So for people who are participating in this competition
and they're wondering, what can I do next
stacks ascent is the answer for that so you can go to stacks.org slash ascent to
learn more and you can see what this program what this program includes and
all builders of Biddle Battle are invited to participate in Stax Ascent.
And so let us know if you are interested.
Let us know if you have any questions.
I'm really, really, really excited for the launch of this program.
And I can't wait to see what happens for these projects with a supportive program like this,
an ongoing program to help builders make their life easier and help them get the support that they need
and get over any challenges that they face.
On top of what's next, there is a really awesome initiative that Hero is putting together called Hero Hacks.
This is their regular monthly challenge.
builders who are part of Biddle Battle, if you are or anyone really who's on this call looking
ahead and you're looking at May, late May, and you see that Bitcoin Vegas is taking place and
you want to be there, Hero is sponsoring travel to Vegas for the winner of the March Hero Hack.
So highly encourage everyone to check out the Hero Hacks, participate in that, and let us
submit your projects there and increase your chances of getting to Bitcoin Vegas on a free
travel scholarship from the Hero team. We will be sending out information on the Hero Hacks as well
as Stacks Ascent in our Biddle Battle Telegram group, as well as the emails. So keep an eye out for those. With that said, I've already spoken enough
about how things played out for round one and how this competition is structured. So I'm going to
push fast forward and just get right into the moment that we've all been waiting for. The
breakdown of the results for round two and the overall winners or winner of Biddle Battle. This
was really, really tough. Again, we're pushing judges. We're trying to get the answers. And on
this scoring system, the results came out so close. I'm actually going to list the top four
projects because they were all very, very, very close. This was super, super competitive. You
can probably tell in my voice how excited I am because there's just so much. But in fourth place, coming from the ICP challenge,
the fourth place winner, the fourth place completion goes to CK Boost. So congratulations
to the CK Boost team. In third place, coming from the Bitcoin DeFi theme, goes to BitForward. Congratulations to the BitForward team.
Second place, coming from the Bitcoin DeFi theme, goes to BigMarket.
And so for all three of those teams, congratulations, you've gotten so far, you've done so well.
teams congratulations you've gotten so far you've done so well um but for round two this was
clearly articulated in the rules there was only one major prize for round two so on top of the
prizes that was won uh in round one for this team the winner and of first place of round two also gets $5,000 paid out to them in STX tokens.
And that goes to the first place team is of Biddle Battle.
The champion of Biddle Battle goes to Blaze Protocol.
Congratulations to Blaze Protocol.
Congratulations to all teams.
And I will yield the rest of my time because we are really short on time.
I'll pass it over to Mick to give his piece and go from there.
But this is Adam.
I'm signing off.
Thanks, everyone.
Thank you, Adam.
Yeah, happy to have been a judge here and uh check out all these amazing projects i was uh you know
just blown away by the quality you know and and the number um of teams that that participate in
the middle battle um we we also collaborate uh with with stacks and icp very closely um just a
quick intro i'm the program manager for uh the bitcoin fi accelerator um so we
we really focus on bitcoin defy social fi infrastructure and uh we have our next batch
coming up so we're a six-week builder program uh comes with 150 000 in funding and expert
mentorship and go-to-market engineering engineering, legal operations, fundraising.
So, yeah, I just wanted to invite any Bitcoin founders
with a vision to apply.
It's really the last call here.
Tomorrow is the last day to apply.
But the batch will run from the 14th of April to the 23rd of May
and open to any Bitcoin builders
building in the three verticals I mentioned.
Amazing. Thank you for sharing there. Mick and you heard it, guys. Deadline is tomorrow. So,
you know, if you want to sneak in there, make sure you do give Mick a follow and the Bitcoin
Fire, the team there, give him a follow and make sure you sneak in there if you're going to do it.
Also, big, huge congratulations to Rosar of Blaze Protocol.
It's one of the few projects that I'd kind of seen a lot on X beforehand and seen a few of the
demo things on some of the de-organized things. Very, very exciting what you've built there and
very, very excited to see what the future holds for that because I think the opportunities there
are potentially endless. So, yeah, huge congratulations.
Yeah, I think Rosa has actually come up on stage if you want to have some thoughts on that, Rosa.
Yeah, can you hear me all right?
Yeah, all good. Congratulations.
Okay, yeah, I'll keep it brief
because I know we're short on time.
But first of all, I just want to thank... here can y'all hear me because i can't hear rosar yeah i think we we lost right rosar i've kind of
got the the first bit of the the thank you speech but mr miss the last bit uh if you want to drop
off rosal and jump back on if you if you can, it would be good to hear from you there.
But if not, yeah, I just want to thank everyone for coming to the campfire space.
Congratulations to Adam and the Stacks team for kind of hosting this.
All of the judges, all the amazing projects.
I'm sure it's incredibly difficult to actually narrow it down to just 12 and then 1.
I'm sure it's incredibly difficult to actually narrow it down to just 12 and then one.
But yeah, hopefully with the Stacks Ascend and the Hero Hacks,
there's a lot more opportunities to be had in the Stacks Eco.
Jack, have you got any closing thoughts?
Yeah, you know, this is just so bullish.
And big congratulations, Rozar.
Rozar has been killing it for so long now
he's a pillar of the community
and he has just worked
so tirelessly to
with one mission in mind and that's just
to level up stacks
and level up the people in stacks
so well earned sir
I want to invite everyone
here to come to
Deorganized whether you're a builder, whether you are a judge and you want to talk about this, whether you're part of these accelerators now.
We have a stream. We stream all day long. We have dedicated shows. We'd love to feature you and help you get the word out.
would love to feature you and help you get the word out.
So yeah, just, you know, if you haven't had a chance to speak today
and you want to come speak, you can reach out to me.
You can reach out to peacelovemusic.btc, gpsc.btc.
Did you organize handle on X?
Just, you know, reach out.
We'd love to have you on so you can talk about your stuff.
Guys, I came into this call bullish, and I'm leaving even more so.
I just don't even know how else to explain it.
Absolutely.
The next campfire space is the last Thursday of every month,
so it'll be the last Thursday of April.
Thank you all for tuning in.
Thank you to all the guests.
Thank you for all the speakers.
And yeah, we'll, we'll let this one play out and we'll see you next time.
I think we have Rosar back.
So Rosar, can you, can you, can you speak?
Yeah, we, we can try this again.
I might get rugged any second.
So I'm just going to say like, if you this on stacks uh i see it like i appreciate it
everyone sees it appreciates it just please keep what you're doing doing with doing clarity
collective all these meme coin leaders deorganized you know the grants just i appreciate everything
you all are doing so thank you so much for continuing to grind and like push the space forward. That's it. I'll keep it short.
Amazing, Rosa. I'm glad you got up for the speech as well,
because it was well-deserved.
Facts. It just goes to show the winner got rugged.
You can always count on at least one good rugged in an X space.
Thank you all for coming today.
We look forward to the next Camp Fire Space.
Just keep doing what you're doing.
See you all next time, guys.
