Thank you. Hello everybody, just doing a quick test here.
Yeah, we can hear you. Do you hear me?
And can you confirm if I'm to accept Wise Enthusiast as a speaker?
Yes, that's Peter, the founder.
Okay, brilliant. Great. So I'll give a quick intro and then we'll
get started straight away hi everybody it's joe davis from the casper association i'm the community
director at casper and i'm very happy that xspaces have returned we are back to our cadence of xspaces
which you'll see in the coming months, so we can give updates
and stay in touch with our community. It's an exciting time, and I'd just like to quickly
thank everybody for being here in the X-Space. Just a quick reminder that the space is recorded,
so it will be recorded, so you can share after the fact with your friends and colleagues and whoever you think may be interested in the Casper ecosystem. As always you can ask us questions
during this X space so I encourage you to leave your question below this X space in the comments
and we'll do our best to answer that towards the end of the call but even if we don't it's good to
hear what the community is saying and we will take that into consideration.
Without any further ado, I'd like to hand it off to Michael Stoyer, the CTO at the Kasper Association.
Hand it over to you, Michael.
Thank you so much, Joe. Appreciate the introduction.
And it's good to be back after a summer break for these X-Bases. So first of all, let me send regrets on behalf of our CEO Matt Schaffnitz,
who wanted to be here with us today, but he is attending the Token 2049 conference this
week in Singapore, meeting with our partners and exchanges in Asia. We do have a packed
program for you today, lots and I mean lots of updates since we last held an X space.
So I'm also very excited to have a conversation
with Peter Gurr later today about all things WISELANDing
and of course about liquid staking,
which I know is on everybody's minds.
Let's start with some updates from core engineering first.
So this week we are releasing a mainnet upgrade
that already went live on Testnet a few weeks ago.
Assuming a super majority of the mainnet valid that already went live on Testnet a few weeks ago. Assuming a
supermajority of the mainnet validators accept the upgrade, Casper 2.0.4 will go
live on mainnet tomorrow morning. This upgrade comprises several post 2.0
improvements and fixes including around how smart contacts are
versions and called on the network, as well as further preparations
for Casper 2.1, which will activate the new virtual machine. Speaking of Casper 2.1, the core
engineering team met in Rotslaw, Poland earlier this month and worked collaboratively side by
side in the same room for about a week on getting Casper 2.1 close to the finish line.
With much of that work now behind us,
the team is in full testing and preparation mode
in order to ship Casper 2.1 this upcoming quarter
and introduce the new virtual machine to the world,
which will run alongside the current virtual machine
in a true multi-VM environment, which, as we've talked about
in the past, Casper is one of the firsts in the industry
to introduce this capability.
Now let's recap what's been happening
in the broader Casper ecosystem.
Over the summer, we have launched CSPR.name,
Casper's native Web3 domain service.
With this service, companies and users alike
can identify themselves on-chain using a .cspr domain name,
rather than a lengthy hexadecimal string of numbers
More recently, we introduced the ability
to register subdomains as well.
So if you own the domain, for example, loves.cspr,
you can now create Michael loves.cspr, or Matt.loves.cspr, you can now create Michael loves CSPR or Matt that loves that CSPR.
Or if you are a company, you can create subdomains for different departments, functions, or employees within your organization.
In the next few weeks, we'll be introducing the ability to trade CSPR.name domains via Casper Markets, the NFT marketplace on Casper Network.
domains via Casper Market, the NFT marketplace on Casper Network.
Then our friends at Friendly Market launched CSPR.fun, the launchpad for fungible tokens
This launchpad is tightly integrated with the Friendly Market DEX and all tokens that
graduate from the launchpad become tradable on the DEX.
The first such token to do so was CASPI, a community project that has since introduced NFT series, a game, and a whole roadmap of other features for their users.
It's exciting to see how members of the community make use of the easy-to-use tools on the Casper network to launch their projects and how these projects then take on a life of their own.
That's really what launchpads are supposed to do.
We were hoping to have the folks of Caspi on this Xspace today,
but unfortunately they couldn't join us.
So we are inviting them back to the next one
and hope to have a fun chat with them then.
A couple months ago, we announced our partnership
with AmeriCorp to bring their $144 billion a year US
parking industry on-chain.
Since that announcement, our team has been working closely with AmeriCorp
and several of their industry partners,
as well as parking operators in municipal markets,
on refining and implementing the MVP of this solution.
Now, obviously, disrupting a fragmented, century-old industry is no easy task,
but we're making steady progress and still expect to have an MVP out this upcoming quarter.
Our friends at CSPR.shopping have added a whole bunch of new retailers where you can earn CSPR back with a simple activation via the Casper wallet.
So if you're shopping at places like Adidas, Vance, Nike, Groupon, or Lego, make sure you have Casper wallet installed and accept the
cspr.shopping pop-up in order to earn a good percentage of your purchase back in the form
of CSPR to your account. Who doesn't like free CSPR? The folks at Odra have launched a Casper
native Oracle called Styx, which in its initial implementation brings CSPR exchange rates on-chain.
It allows DeFi and other applications on Casper Network to have on-chain access
to the latest price data, allowing them to build smart contracts
that are responsive to external data.
Odra has built this using the attestation service provided by Blocky, with whom Casper
announced a partnership in recent weeks.
Blocky's attestation service is built on top of Trusted Execution Environments, or TEEs,
which facilitate cryptographically secure transmission of off-chain data on-chain.
In addition to use cases like the Styx Oracle, developers can use Blocky to call any off-chain
API, bring its data online, including for use cases like identity or randomness in games
and other use cases that require off-chain logic or data.
Through this recently announced partnership, this capability is now available to all developers
this capability is now available to all developers in the Casper ecosystem.
Then after a lengthy comment period via our GitHub repository,
we also published a new NFT standard called CEP95,
which makes NFTs on Casper network more compatible as well as more performance.
The standard is already used by cspr.name and is recognized by CSPR Live,
Casper Market, Casper Cloud and so on.
Alongside CEP 95, we also published CEP 96, which implements a new standard for smart contracts to
provide their metadata on-chain so that other applications on the network can properly identify
them. Head over to our GitHub to see both new standards in full detail. Of course, we will talk about liquid staking more in this Xspace as well.
In a few minutes, we'll bring Peter of WiseLending to the stage,
and I'm excited to hear the announcement he'll be making.
And then the folks over at Make have been busy improving products across the CSPR suites in addition to their contribution
to much of the product development that I mentioned earlier. So a quick rundown of what
the Make team has been up to. Market data for fungible tokens has been added to CSPR Live and
Casper Wallet and also available to developers via CSPR Clouds. This market data is powered by CoinGecko as well as the friendly market DEX.
Make open source the CSPR.design UI design library, which enables any developer to quickly
and easily develop applications on Casper network using the same design language that's
been used across the ecosystem.
So if you want to benefit from the many man years of designer work that went into this
without having to spend a single minute, head over to cspr.design and get started.
Casper Live recently made huge strides in accessibility.
Not only does Casper Live meet and exceed all regulatory requirements for accessibility, it now scores
a 96 out of 100, making it one of the friendliest blockchain explorers out there for people
who require accessibility features to access the Internet.
Casper Click was updated to include more account and balance information in the top navigation
drop-down, as well as integration with CSPR.name domains.
These features are available in Casper Click 1.10 and up, so if you're a developer, be sure to upgrade.
Then looking ahead from a roadmap perspective, here are some of the highlights of what will be coming in the very near future across the CSPR suite.
Casper Live will launch an overhaul of the account page as well as the homepage, continuing its journey to make blockchain more accessible to regular human beings
rather than the incessant focus on tabular data with tons of hashes
that's so prevalent across the industry.
This homepage refresh will also change the way that validators are presented,
which will no longer be based on sorting validators by stake. After that, expect
releases that deal with displaying stats around burnt Casper, the reverse identification
of contract and account purses, as well as the ability to filter tables across Casper
Live. Casper Wallet is working on finalizing its integration with Wallet Connect, which
will increase the reach the wallet will have across Web3 and open up new ways of interacting with Casper Network. Additionally, the CSPR.shopping
integration in Casper Wallet is being updated for an even smoother way of earning Casper
cash back. After that, the team is focused on finalizing the ledger integration with Casper
Wallet Mobile, a much requested feature.
Then for Casper Cloud, the API middleware platform for Casper Network, they are launching an
updated API to support the overhaul of Casper Live that I mentioned just now. It will improve the
identification and de-anonymization of WASM transactions on friendly markets and provide optimized NFT image previews
And after that, the cloud team will focus on Dex price feeds
The Casper Click team is working on its side
of the Wallet Connect integration,
as well as making Casper Cloud proxies available
to all users of Casper Click
so that developers who are working on applications that don't have a server component,
that they can leverage these proxies rather than having to implement their own backends.
This is really another step in making Casper one of the most convenient blockchains to build on.
After that, the Casper Click team is focused on finalizing the Casper Click web wallets
and the introduction of social logins on the Casper Click team is focused on finalizing the Casper Click web wallets and the introduction of social logins on the Casper Click SDK,
which will allow users to onboard applications simply with their existing Web2 account
rather than having to download and install Web3 wallets.
The Casper Market team is focused on finalizing the secondary market for Casper name domain names,
CEP95 integration, and improved account information standard support,
while also updating the transaction flows that make use of some of the improvements introduced
by Casper Click, such as real-time WebSocket-based notifications for a smoother experience on the
market. That was a lot of updates. We have actually more updates in the work across Casper Studio, Casper Name and Casper Build, to name a few, but we will save those for the next X-Space.
Now, before I transition to other topics, I want to welcome Peter Gehr unmute. We would love to discuss liquid staking as well as other things being worked on over at Weiss.
Peter, welcome to the Casper X-Space.
Yeah, so we are announcing today the live beta launch of Casper Liquid Staking.
And so this is live now. Anybody
can go over to testnet.wiselending.com. And this is, of course, Testnet, not live yet. We are going
to be in Testnet for about two more weeks to let people fiddle around with it. And if you'd like to
get some Testnet Casper, you can go to testnet.cspr.live
and there's a faucet there to get testnet Casper. And then once again, our website is testnet.wiselending.com
where you can access the liquid staking. We also have a feedback form for those people that use it.
We also have a feedback form for those people that use it.
And after a couple of weeks, we'll be ready to put that live on TestNet.
But that is ready now for everyone.
Thanks, Peter. That's amazing. That's a solid announcement right here in the X-Space.
So liquid staking officially in beta today on Testnet,
accessible at testnet.wiselending.com.
So obviously we at the association
are very excited about this launch,
which makes use of the native complex staking capability
that was introduced by Casper 2.0.
And just to be clear that once we hit mainnet,
the association is planning to add significant liquidity to the liquid staking protocol,
while also encouraging some of the larger wills and partners in our ecosystem to do so.
At the same time, we are working with several parties across the wider DeFi world
to open this very compelling offering up to participants beyond the Casper ecosystem,
because realistically having a liquid staking token with a 15% APY is compelling for many users across broader DeFi.
Peter, so alongside liquid staking, I know that WISE is also working on getting its RWA vaults ready for launch on Casper.
The smart contracts for those were recently audited by Holborn Security,
and I believe that we are reviewing their final reports that it should be published in the next one to two weeks.
Just to refresh people's memory and understanding, can you explain once more what these RWA vaults are?
So real world assets, these are real companies.
And in this case, this RWA offering is a telecom company,
an independent telecom company called World Mobile.
And so this RWA offering is a vault where you put stable coins
into the vault and you get 20% fixed APY, which can be compounded or claimed. And what's happening
with the money that's put in the vault is it gets forwarded to the telecom company, World Mobile. World Mobile
uses that to purchase their infrastructure. So specifically those antennas, like the ones you
see on cell phone towers that are placed on top of buildings, that's what's being purchased.
And the money that's put into the vaults now owns those antennas that make up the telecom network.
And then World Mobile every month sends us back our share of revenue that's coming from its 2 million users that are paying for their cell phone bills and for their Wi-Fi bills.
So telecom is a very solid industry.
It's very stable. This is why we were able to
offer a fixed 20% APY on stable coins. That's not going to fluctuate even if the market goes
into a downturn because people pay their internet bills, whether it's a recession or not. So very
stable, very good source of yield
We already have them live on mainnet.
And as soon as we have the infrastructure to do so,
we will deploy them onto Casper blockchain
and then have that available
for anyone who wants to participate
and earn 20% APY on their stablecoins.
That's amazing. And yeah, just like, it's actually interesting because you and I have talked about
how telecom is a very stable industry. Another stable industry that obviously is very suitable
for this might be the parking industry, right? Like people will use their cell phones no matter
what and people will be parking as they have for a century now.
So that might be an opportunity to add to the mix here
in these vaults in the future as well.
But it's interesting, Peter, between liquid staking,
where users can get approximately 15% APY while staying fully liquid,
and the wise RWA vaults where depositors can achieve 20% APY,
you're really helping to bring very compelling DeFi offerings to Casper Network.
So, of course, at the association, we want to help and make sure that these are as successful as possible.
And for RWA vaults specifically, this means better bridging between Casper Network and other networks, as well as better access to stablecoins.
I mean, I think that's some of the infrastructure that you're referring to, which are obviously top priorities that we are working on.
So now before we move on to other topics, maybe, Peter, you can tell us a bit more about what else is on the horizon for WISE lending.
What are you excited about?
So we've got a couple of things to be excited about for sure.
We want to expand our RWA offerings.
World Mobile is a fantastic company, but there's a scalability issue because we couldn't,
you know, if we raised a billion dollars right now and handed it to World Mobile, they wouldn't be able to expand at that rate.
So we have a couple more in the pipeline.
There's a notable one in the solar industry.
Nothing yet to announce there.
But the other thing is also that in addition to the vaults that earn 20% APY, we also created a secondary market for those as well,
which will be available on Casper too.
So that means that not only can you,
you can earn the 20% APY,
you can compound it or claim it to your wallet,
talking about the interest,
but also you will be able to remove your principal as well.
And we're the only partner of World Mobile
that actually has been able to create secondary markets.
So, yeah, I don't think I even knew that was on your roadmap.
Peter, thank you so much for joining us today.
And I really want to thank you and your team for all the hard work you do
to bring really powerful DeFi solutions to Casper Network.
And for everyone who's listening, head over to testnet.wiselending.com right now
or after the X-Pace if you want to keep listening.
And try out Liquid Staking because we are really eager for your feedback and
incorporate it into sort of the mainnet launch that we expect in the next couple weeks.
Thanks so much for joining, Peter.
And we hope to have you back, obviously, in upcoming X spaces. So let's continue with some further updates. So on the partnership and listing front,
so there's a bunch of new partnerships and listings that we have announced
since our most recent X-Space.
Here's a really quick rundown.
Last week, Gate USA announced that they were listing CSPR
in their US-S. regulated exchange,
expanding the ease of access to the Casper network for U.S. consumers.
And this is part of a concerted effort by the association to reinforce Casper's presence in the United States.
Also last week, CoinUp, a top exchange in several Asian markets, including China,
announced that it is listing CSPR in the next few weeks.
And then three weeks ago, Change Hero announced that they listed CSPR,
making it available to their millions of users across the world.
So with three new listings in a span of three weeks,
we are excited to continue to welcome new users and markets
to our ever-expanding Casper ecosystem and
hope to keep that momentum going. We also announced, and I just mentioned, our partnership with Blocky,
which now allows developers on Casper Network to make use of their trusted execution environment
based at the station service in order to bring off-chain data on-chain.
Then infrastructure provider Now Nodes announced that they now support Casper Network, allowing their users to easily access the network with either dedicated or shared nodes.
This includes the ability to easily spin up validator nodes through the Now Nodes dashboards.
Then in July, we announced a competition that sought to find a development
partner for a Casper lottery application based on a fully built set of smart contracts, a
front end and a back end that all make use of the latest and greatest developer tools
in our network. After having evaluated interested parties, we are now happy to announce that
we've entered into a grant agreement with one of them
and look forward to seeing their take on on-chain lotteries
on our network later this year.
And then our partners at Halborn Security
continues to audit contracts and applications
built by our partners throughout the summer,
including the smart contracts for CSPR.fund,
for CSPR.name, the CEP95 contracts, the WISE
RWA Vault contracts, and many more.
We remain grateful for the high quality security auditing we and everyone in the ecosystem
benefits from on a continuous basis.
Halborn is really a fantastic partner.
Then on the event side, since our last X-Space, we've attended a few industry events.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the X-Space, Matt is currently attending Token 2049 in Singapore,
where he's meeting with our exchange and other partners.
Last week, he had an opportunity to attend the CV Summit in Zurich, right around the corner from our headquarters.
We summit in Zurich right around the corner from our headquarters.
And a few weeks ago, Matt attended Future Finance Fest in Vilnius,
where he participated in a panel discussion about algorithmic finance
together with our partners in the Actis Foundation.
And then I had the pleasure to attend Salt Wyoming last month,
where I participated in a panel discussion about unique use cases in a cross-chain
world, but more importantly, had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with many industry leaders
and focus on driving some key initiatives forward for Casper Network.
And I'm excited to share more about these outcomes with you in upcoming X spaces.
And then last but not least, I want to talk about community.
So community is truly our lifeblood.
Between our socials and messaging platforms, there are hundreds of thousands of you in the Casper fan.
We want to do our part in acknowledging you.
And more importantly, we want to do our part in empowering you to be a positive contributor to the future of this project.
There is a lot going on in this area, so pay attention.
First of all, governance votes.
So in the last couple of weeks, we saw two governance votes take place on the network.
One vote asked the validators if they want to activate gas fee burning on mainnet,
and the vote was 95% in favor.
The other vote asked validators if the
network should mandate a minimum delegation fee and the vote was 92% in favor. So both proposals
passed and will now be implemented on mainnet. This is really a good reminder for anyone who
actively stakes on the network that your validators are your representatives in these governance votes.
on the network, that your validators are your representatives in these governance votes.
You delegating your stake to them also means that you delegate your vote to them.
So make sure that you engage with your validators about upcoming votes, let them know your opinions
about pending governance topics, or even participate directly in the Casper forum.
And if you want to see how your validator votes, I recommend you check out eraguardian.com,
a community tool that, amongst other things, does a great job at visualizing the governance
Once again, that's eraguardian.com.
Then we are also hiring new community managers.
You may have already met Richard or Gog, as in Van Gogh, on our Telegrams and Discord.
Henry is also staying with us, and we are in the process of interviewing additional community managers
who will be working directly with Casper Association.
There's a job opening on our website.
It's not too late to apply yet, so head over there and check it out.
It's not too late to apply yet, so head over there and check it out.
Then we are announcing that we'll be launching an ambassador program.
More information about that will be posted on Telegram and X.
The main idea here is that we want to engage the community to create more content about Casper,
tutorials for newcomers, comics like somebody suggested on Telegram, post, and much more.
And obviously, we'll be working and rewarding successful content creators.
So CSPR.fans will be transformed into a community-driven app.
into a community-driven app.
No airdrops, but an app that will allow the community
to engage with our content,
to drive the future of the Casper blockchain,
to propose ideas for dApps,
and to vote for the best applications
that will enter our upcoming hackathon.
Yes, we are going to launch a hackathon
for developers to build on Casper.
We will be working with a network of tens of thousands of Web3 developers worldwide
to attract a substantial number of them to our ecosystem.
And we'll rely on the community via the cspr.fans app
to help decide which projects and development teams move on to the next phases in the hackathon
and ultimately help decide who wins.
So that's going to be an exciting campaign, both on the ecosystem development side as well as on the community engagement side.
And CSPR Advance, some of these activities will be on-chain, which will also be interesting for the network.
Our newly designed newsletter will also be published today.
If you haven't signed up yet, this is the time.
It's the monthly newsletter, end-of-the-month summary.
You can sign up on our website, casper.network.
Those were a lot of updates.
I know we could dive deeper on many of these topics,
but given the volume of updates I had to share with you today
and in the interest of time,
forgive me for remaining somewhat high level.
Now that the summer season is behind us,
our X-Space schedule will be more regular
and we'll have opportunities to take deeper dives
in the X-Space as to come.
The date for the next X-Space will be announced shortly.
And in the meantime, thanks again to you, Peter, for joining this X-Space.
And thank you all for attending.
And I'll hand the mic back to Joe in case there are any questions.
And I appreciate everybody being here.
Thank you, Peter, for joining us from WISE Lending.
Really good to have you on the X-Space.
And as Michael said, we'll be doing more regular X-Spaces going forward.
Now we're past the summer.
So I don't think see any live questions coming in.
But, yeah, so there's no live questions that we can go to.
But remember, this has been recorded.
And you should share this after the fact so we can get as many people you know listening in
and engaging with us on X as as possible it'd be good that we can grow the community some more
okay so we're not answering any of these questions I'm going to wrap up. Thank you everyone for joining.
Thank you to Peter from Wires Lending.
Thanks Michael and the Casper Association for joining as always.
It's great to see the X-Bases come back and we look forward to doing more.
And as Michael said, we'll announce the next one shortly.
We'll see you over on Telegram.
And thank you very much for joining today.
Appreciate you all being here. Thank thanks everyone thank you michael thanks guys
