Chilling with the Pudgy Penguins. When you see stay together to invite your friends in, chillin' Pudgy penguin, when you see these the best, I forget to mention, chillin'
Pudgy penguin, no trouble in the house to invite your friends in, chillin'
You know, I forgot to do, I forgot to quote tweet the space And say, uh, come chill
Ah, rookie mistake, brother
You do it three times a week
Unbelievable, how could you be forgetting
That was supposed to be
That was supposed to be a great segue to you
But I don't
Oh, we're getting into that, PP
Well, now you've ruined it by identifying it as a segue.
You heard it here second, guys.
Bottom right-hand corner of your screen, the little purple chat icon.
It's all we ask you to do during these is, quote, retweet the space.
Tell everybody to come chill.
Just, quote, retweet the space.
Say, come chill.
And let's recognize the people who understood the assignment.
Justin Lewis, Dow Jones, S.T. McFly, Mr. Schmeck, Gristle Whistle,
Agents, big shout out to Agents, Saucy, PeePee McGee, and Krogues.
Fantastic lineup tonight. Great lineup how you living pp
good man um i got a lot done after our show on monday not a lot of people showed up but the ones
who did really got a lot of alpha and realized that this bitcoin pump was going to happen
so uh yeah i think uh these are the type of movements that you see.
I think that retail actually starts paying attention.
So I know I've talked to you about it before, but it's like, I don't think we'll start seeing actual retail come into the space until Bitcoin hits like 120.
So I think we're on the way.
So once that happens, I think the the cries of altseason
Will probably be true
So I'm excited. Oh if only if only there was one coin that existed
every single place that people might enter crypto if
If only that one coin, that one token, that one coin above all coins existed.
only that that that one coin that one token that
Is there any coin that has all major listings, starts getting onto exchanges that you forgot even existed?
Or you're like, oh my god, that place does crypto now?
Does a token like that exist? I'm looking.
I'm pretty sure I bought Pingu at Steak and Shake the other day.
They're doing something with crypto.
I either bought Pingu from Steak and Shake
or the guy who said he was giving me Pingu for what I gave him was lying.
Yeah, listen, that's actually great.
The Steak and shake is awesome, but I don't think the job's done until four-year-olds are getting a QR code with Pangu inside their pizza Lunchables.
Or is it a feastable? I don't know what the kids are into.
Or is it a kid's cuisine, agents? I know me and you have talked about this, but imagine the penguin takes over the kid's cuisine mascot, which is also a uh kids cuisine agents i know me and you have talked about this but imagine the penguin
takes over the kids cuisine mascot which is also a penguin which is not near as cute as ours
yeah we did talk wasn't there something like it's a lean cuisine versus kids yeah i said lean
cuisine then somebody corrected me he said no it's a kid's cuisine i was like oh yeah you're right
yeah kid's cuisine is the penguin. Yeah, good.
It's a wide blue ocean of opportunistic places to place the penguin.
The meme will become reality. You wake up, hit snooze on your pengu alarm clock, go into your kitchen, pour a big old bowl of pengu oats.
Oh, burk oats.
Pour some penguin milk on top of the cereal.
Can't forget the penguin milk.
And then you turn on the news, and guess what they're talking about?
Talking about pangu, and you know it's going to be a good day.
And you go downstairs, and you get in your car,
and you know what your car is?
Your car is a penguin.
They put an internal combustion engine inside of a
penguin and you'll take that to work and you'll get on the highway and you'll go through a toll
booth and the price on the toll booth will be 10 penguin pengu and you'll happily pay it and you'll
say wow ten thousand dollars for a toll that's expensive but i have a lot of pengu and then you'll drive down the
highway which is paved
entirely in pengu
penguin pelts and you'll
smile and look up at the sky
and you know what you won't see the
sun there's going to be a
penguin there
that's the future I believe in
how about you
definitely I wish bitboy could hear this honestly give him some hope That's the future I believe in. How about you? Definitely.
I wish BitBoy could hear this, honestly.
Give him some hope.
Let's go to some hands.
Dan, how you doing?
How you living?
Do I have your attention now?
Are you not entertained?
That's what I thought.
Dude, agents.
I just want to come in on the tail end of all of your like of motivational
you know pengu pumping speeches and then do the bit boy do i have your attention now
and then give it that pregnant pause hey you missed it dude we played chilling but the the og
um i normally spice it up a bit but i don don't know, tonight felt special, so I switched back to
the OG chilling. Oh my god, dude. And you know, sometimes moments call for that nostalgia,
lore, some might call it, but we've come a long way. I mean, the most consistent space
on Twitter, I mean, you gotta mix up the catalog when you come in with the intro music,
because there's so many spaces, there's so many shows. I know. That it's like, you gotta mix up the catalog when you come in with the intro music, Pete, because there's so many spaces.
There's so many shows.
That it's like, you gotta spread it out.
You gotta mix it up for the listeners.
Pave the road with penguin skin.
That's pretty gnarly.
That was crazy work.
That was crazy work.
Go ahead, Moon.
A moment of silence for Ben Dottie.
Ben Dot, Ben.Eth. Ben.
Just hush.
Let it play out.
I think you're mistaken.
It's not Ben.Eth that's in jail.
It's the other Ben.
It's not Ben.Eth that's in jail.
It's the other Ben that's in jail.
What do you mean, the other Ben? IE that's in jail. It's the other Ben that's in jail. What do you mean, the other Ben?
I know a guy in jail.
Yeah, I've been in jail before, too.
What do you mean, Ben?
Who's in jail?
Oh, yeah, BitBoy.
Wait, BitBoy's in jail?
Dude, are you kidding me?
When did this happen?
I was just chilling with him in Miami
two years ago.
Well, there's why he's in jail.
Dude, check out the
pin post. It's a...
You know, I had to meme it, but
you'll appreciate
it, agents. Go ahead, Darren.
He kept asking me, like, where's the booger sugar?
Where's the booger sugar?
And I'm like, dude,
I have diabetes on both sides of my family. I can't have sugar.
And he's like,
it's a crazy
time. Go ahead, Dan.
I hate when he does that. He's like,
it's a weird reply.
He just growls. It's very guttural
and animalistic.
Dude, that picture is crazy.
Holy smokes, dude.
I thought I had a current depiction of where BitBoy was at,
and I didn't think it was that bad.
All right.
Things have taken a little bit of a slide.
Let's hope he figures that out.
I'm not surprised the law has stepped in, though.
That's going to happen from time to time.
Question, though, actually quite pressing question, agents, for you.
Directed right at you.
What's going on with this Miami development, dude?
I've been poking and prodding some of the group chats,
even my own pudgy records, and I'm just seeing eyes.
I'm seeing shush emojis from particular individuals when I bring it up.
It seems like it's a a pretty touchy
subject i want to know preemptively it's early december's a long way away but i want a plan dude
canadians it takes a lot for us to get out of this country and if i do it i want to make sure
it's for a good time agents what's the read on the mi situation, if any updates? Are you talking about Pengu Hotel Takeover?
Dude, dude, I wanted you to say it, not me.
I wanted you to say it, okay?
Well, there's a couple things going on here.
First, I guess, I need to be so, we are early, Dan.
We're months away at this point.
But things are in motion that cannot be undone.
I will tell you, they're progressing. I met with the events team. They're going to go and try and negotiate a block of rooms. But since we are months out, I have to be abundantly clear
in this industry, in this ecosystem, in this space, there is a tendency for people to lean towards flex culture and,
you know, all this stuff.
This is not the hotel that you're going to flex that you're staying at.
I think calling it a hotel is maybe a misnomer.
It's totally a motel.
Just want to put this out there. It's totally a motel. It's totally a motel. Okay, just want to put this out there.
It's totally a motel.
It's totally a motel.
But at the intersectionality of price versus convenience versus quality
versus am I going to have a good time,
this thing is far and away up and to the right.
Dow Jones can attest to this.
So the plan is, for those of you who missed my, uh, missed my.
Just so you know, I'm down.
My wife is shaking her head.
She's like, I'm not staying there.
Yo, PP, do I need to pack my own sheets?
Is this the type of place?
Like I got to pack my own sheets and shit.
Listen, listen, listen, listen.
I discovered this place three years ago.
I needed a last minute hotel.
I was sick of Airbnb and there was nothing in Brickell.
And I'm like, all right, at least this place is close to the office.
I loved it.
I had a good time.
It was convenient.
Tacos in easy reach.
Ubers everywhere.
Super easy.
The room was clean.
The staff was nice. And then I ran dow jones and kyle riggins they stayed at the sinbad um which you don't want to stay at or was it the
sinbad or the shallamar one of those don't want to stay at those the red rash in agents i believe
it was the red rash it was no and i said doubt what do you do and by the way we're
not naming the motel on this space now just so you know but i said what are you doing come over
to the spot check it out he's like agents you got a pool here there's a starbucks a block away
this is the biggest tell of a good location there's a starbucks a away. So this is slept on. We're getting in there early. Right.
So the next year I was joined by Dow Jones and and some other people.
And then I think the year after that, I lose track of timelines.
What do we have now?
Fifteen people there last year.
I'd say at least that's the highlight of it is there's always
penguins and cold beers.
You're talking kids cuisine. Come drink beers
with your penguku jeans at the
pool. However, they
need to get a heater so Stupid can stop peeing
on it to warm it up. Listen, this is the
only reason I'm hyped on it this
year is because once we reach
critical mass of penguin holders,
like the new oh i almost
said the name this motel almost became an event in of itself what are you doing tonight oh i might
just go back to i might just go back to the hotel someone will be sitting there drinking beers in
the cabana lounge and we can get active right so. So that was, it was like the highlight of the trip for
me. It was actually chilling and hanging out with everybody late night. You know, that I really felt
the real community bonding that, that gave me the early Basil vibes. So I'm like, you know what,
let's go bigger. Let's bring more people. Let's just be abundantly clear that it's not the Ritz-Carlton.
Okay, let's, I, it is not the Ritz-Carlton, but it is a fun time.
Pippi, I'll... Yo, I'm 100% shacking up for one reason.
I'm going to be very blatantly clear about it right out of the gate.
I've never downloaded Uber application on any device in my life.
So I'm going to be definitely hopping into all the ubers just
to go back to the motel and you know i'm down to pitch i just have this thing where i like won't
download the application um so i'm gonna be friend buddying system with like yeah this is
this is also another huge bonus there's always an uber coming or going somewhere once you reach
enough people miami has another app that's cheaper than uber i forgot going somewhere once you reach enough people miami has another
app that's cheaper than uber i forgot what it's called but i'll try and find it and pin it in the
next most consistent space dude now if it's grinder i swear to god if it's grinder app i swear to god
dude uh yeah but dan uh to answer your question go ahead and start planning i don't know like
go ahead and go to your uh with the magistrate to see if you can come into the States.
I don't know what you do up there,
but, like, make sure you can get...
What do you want more money?
What do you want more money?
From where?
The internet money.
Town council of elders.
I think I actually have to tap in with the queen herself. I know it's like
they literally do some like seance and like pass the grave check in for each individual Canadian
if they're able to pass the border at any given time. So I'm going to start the process now,
PP. As you said, it's a royal consulate type thing. So I better get those wheels in motion
sooner than later. But dude, I'm excited already. And for the record agents,
I've slept in a $40 motel room in Scarborough, which means nothing to anyone here, but let me
just tell you that that's about as low as you can go. So I'm brother. I love, I love to hear that.
and this is why I try to make it abundantly clear because people haven't had our life experiences.
And this is why I try to make it abundantly clear because people haven't had our life experiences.
I lived eight months on a couch in a high traffic living room when I was 17.
So eight months I slept on that couch.
I used to have to keep people out and be like, yo, like, you're sitting on my bed.
You're sitting on my bed.
Like you can still chill in here, but I kind of need to stretch out.
Yeah. You can still chill in here, but I kind of need to stretch out. Yeah, so vibes.
If you've ever lived the bohemian lifestyle or you want to relive it.
Is this during the pit era or like before?
Nah, this is when my parents were getting divorced.
I was like, screw it.
I'm just going to go live at this colony of hippies.
It was a hippie commune.
A couple other kids were there.
Yeah, that's your lore.
You have so much lore.
It's unbelievable.
He really does, man.
Can I just say this for the public?
If you're not considering staying at the particular establishment that Agents is describing right now,
describing right now consider the amount of lore you're gonna miss out on on those night those
consider the amount of lore you're going to miss out on,
nightly heart to hearts that are gonna happen when you're you know about to tap out on beers
there's one white claw left in the fridge you end up splitting it which is kind of weird in and of
itself and then those stories flow and i feel like agents is gonna be an open book okay and i'm ready
to read all right i'm ready to listen i'm to observe. I don't know whose hand was first.
I'm going to give Kate the honors.
Ladies first. What's up, Kate?
First of all, congratulations,
agent, on your house.
It's wonderful.
Congratulations to you.
Or was it a joke?
Kate, that's Michael's
mansion from Grand Theft Auto.
I was about to say.
Dude, I had a double take.
I'll give it to Kate.
I was like, dang, I almost texted you.
And I was like, wait a second.
But I love you.
I love you for that, Kate.
My house will be much, much nicer when I purchase it.
There will be two couches to sleep on in my living room.
Wonderful. Wonderful.
Wonderful.
And let's see.
So, two things is this hotel thing.
I'm all in.
I was deciding whether I was going to go this year.
And I'm a little bit older than most of you.
And I want to feel protected and safe.
And I just, yeah.
So, I'm looking forward to that. Yeah, there will be a lot of feelings there. Okay, well, feel protected and safe. And I just, yeah. So I'm looking forward to that.
Yeah, there'll be a lot of penguins there.
Well, the protected and safe.
It is on Biscayne Boulevard.
That's okay.
But you can get a full size.
I'll be surrounded by all you people.
So I'm not sure.
Yeah, no, you'll be good, Kate.
You'll be good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then I just want to, like, great job with the penguins.
So here's an idea.
I sent this to Steve.
And you were talking about Steak and Shake,
which I worked at one time, but here you go. So children, and I used to manage all the friendlies,
so children's placemats, placemats, paper placemats. I think we could rule that. And not
only the family entertainment centers, but an incredible marketing message. I have somebody
design the front for the
kids to color on and draw whatever they come up with. And then the second thing would be on the
reverse side would be for the adults to learn about crypto, the QR codes, et cetera. And then,
of course, putting the claw machines in different restaurants. So I think that's an incredible way,
in my humble opinion, to get in there um i don't know if anybody's ever thought
about it but i think it would be amazing i mean i you know we did so much interaction with people
in the restaurants and as they're in a family entertainment center um so people are are eating
in the dining room there and they'll have the placements and say hey here's a coupon to try our
well you know machine yeah you got the right person if you're uh if you're if you're
tapping steve he takes any of these ideas seriously and tries to connect the dots with people yeah i
got i got a good steve start sorry kate but just i gotta highlight this guy one more time um
steve my brother my brother told me about some kid's video game console that's really popular in his kid's age group that I never would have known about.
And it's doing well.
It's an up and coming.
And he's like, dude, this would be great.
Let's put Pangu on there.
We have all these games coming out.
Something could be ported for it.
I sent this message to Steve.
No lie. six hours later six hours later he texts me back he's like oh i have a meeting with them on wednesday they're
super excited awesome six hours yeah six hours he is a absolute shark i just shot him a text
if he could hop on here but yeah yeah i tried Yeah. I know I sent him something in a reply thing and I sent a video, so he probably hasn't looked it up.
But, yeah, I'd like to speak to him directly or DM or however to get in touch because I think this is a very cost effect of the crayons.
There could be like a limited number of placements, collect all the placements, all that type of marketing around there inside restaurants.
And then do the flip side with the crypto.
You want to buy Pango?
Just hit this QR code right here.
Boom, you're done.
So buying Pango at Steak and Shake or whatever restaurants.
There's tons of them.
One of the best marketing tools that restaurants have had over the years.
I remember fellow people in friendlies being like,
I don't want to buy a case of the placemat.
They told me the grand. They're too expensive.
That's why we're up
39% in sales and
you're down in sales. But anyways,
that's it.
That's strange.
I know we're shouting out Steve. I think we should shout out Kate.
Not only a wealth of good ideas,
but a wealth of knowledge,
experiential knowledge
i'm 70 dan and that's that's a without saying it not that that's a bad thing but like that
experience is super valuable and i don't think a lot of people necessarily consider that that like
you're not just talking out of ideas you're you're talking about ideas you know work and like an
overlap with the penguin that could get really interesting.
And I think the placemat, again, even to the more modern mind, they'd be like, ah, kids are on iPads.
But they're not.
Like if you went out and observed, I think in like a restaurant setting, those things are still heavily, heavily relied upon.
Like placemats, you know, like a grab bin or like a little loop bin
at the end of an experience those little things for for children go a long way so i know we got
steve up here on the stage kate and i know you wanted to maybe mention the idea pp i don't know
if you want to intro steve yeah i'll give a little intro to steve but uh steve we're talking about
uh pudgy partners and
everything and i was like i'm just gonna text him see if he can come up here and give a little quick
intro these are the guys that show up every monday wednesday friday to our space and uh yeah
welcome steve uh gracias uh thank you thank you uh it's been really fascinating to meet some of you in person, to meet a lot of you guys digitally, to hear your ideas, to see how passionate you are about this brand, about this community.
And there are business tactics and opportunities that are emerging from these conversations almost immediately. Some within the community of businesses that y'all own and are friendly with. Others are, you know, just kind of conversation starters that are motivating me to go out and find somebody on LinkedIn or, you know or ask a friend in the industry to go and connect with.
And I'm having a lot of success out there. Let me put it that way.
This pitch is being embraced. It is being received. People are galvanizing around it.
Yeah, yeah, it's fascinating.
So excuse my, you know, I'm still trying to like learn and do as much as possible.
PP's been an amazing mentor for me in the community space and just learning this brand
and knowing what the community
is looking for.
But I am definitely all ears.
Thank you guys for the opportunity.
And what's your background, Steve?
I don't know if Luca's actually told people, but where are you coming to Pudgy from?
Yeah. So I got my first job when I was 16 at a toy company in Los Angeles called Funrise Toys.
And the owner, his name is Arnie Rubin. He's in the Toy Industry Hall of Fame.
And I learned a lot from him. And I didn't go to college. I just fell in love with the industry.
I didn't go to college. I just fell in love with the industry. I worked for Fundrise for seven
years, and then I moved to Dallas and worked for an agency. I was the CMO. I was in charge of
product discovery for an agency focused in the toy business. And toys specifically are an interesting part of consumer product goods
because the end consumer ages in and ages out every single year. So it's constantly moving.
There's always trends and fads and evergreens and licenses and hot things that are driving the conversation. And so I spent 12 years at
that agency. And then I moved to Austin and kind of, I wanted to go on on my own, but I fell into
it. I fell in love with this product called Gel Blaster. I found it on Kickstarter. It's an
amazing product. We created a category. We went up against the 800-pound gorilla in Hasbro and their baby Nerf and really carved out a space, created new business. was an early investor in Gelblaster, and he came in to run our marketing. He was our CMO.
So him and I worked really closely. I was head of sales and really focused on driving Walmart
and Target and Shields and Academy and GameStop. Yeah, so we worked together. and then when he left to go all in on Pudgy, I've been at the very least cheering him on with every single thing he's done.
And oftentimes just checking in and offering retail advice as I had a few years on him in that space.
But yeah, he's an amazing leader amazing wow yep go ahead okay
uh one quick yeah one question i had for you steve was like the one thing when you came to work for
pudgy that just kind of completely blew you away i think you mentioned it to me before but it's just
like finding this finding a brand this new with this kind of backing
and love behind it is unheard of.
And I would love to hear your take on that.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, the shift in the toy industry over the last three to four years,
COVID had something to do with this, but this trend was already incubating where
adults were buying more toys for themselves than they were of any kid category. So now
adults are the biggest consumer group. And so some brands that emerge are usually using some kind of hook and gimmick to get kids into something.
Think of like Silly Bands, right?
An awesome fad that takes over and really permeates society.
And then just as quickly has an exit where it's not a soft landing.
It's really like a landing in the landfills
because that's the only way these retailers can do something about a trend.
When I joined Pudgy, I knew we were loved.
But because we flipped the script where a lot of our most passionate fans have a financial incentivization
with the success of the IP. Y'all are more than customers. Y'all are more than community.
This is like the ultimate evolution of the net promoter. I have people that I'm connected with that are creating marketing assets for me that I'm sharing with Walmart and Barnes & Noble, sell sheets, cheat sheets, compilation videos.
I feel like our marketing and sales efforts are exponentially multiplied by our customer.
And I put that in deep quotations because I think we all need a new word for it.
When I went to my first abstract event,
actually when I was at the licensing show,
Kevin, who runs our events, invited me to a dinner where it was like 20 people, and I was really the only one that was outside of Web3.
And at this dinner, I saw these folks.
They're like, oh, my God, if it wasn't for Pudgy, none of us would be here.
We were like the supreme of Web3.
There was this deep love for us.
And it's because these events have created two-way commerce between our community and our product slash IP.
These parties, the social calendar that Pudgy has provided and created and did all the hard work is actually what people have gotten for buying an NFT or being a Pangu supporter.
There's a lot you get for it.
It's no different than a country club membership that some old timer paid $50,000 for, and nobody would ever question that. It was, oh, you get to rub elbows with high society. No wonder you pay for this kind of country club. so much greater than I could have ever fathomed that after that event
and after going to the Abstract Party in New York
with PP and just meeting a lot of the people in person
with the extension of like,
I got to play with the Vibes crew
and really saw what our TCG game was about.
It hit me.
It hit me. I now knew what i was dealing with how
hot how big this brand can be i love that let's uh we don't want to see it's a legend dude i just
want to say steve's a legend i put it in the comments but not that i expected anything
different but i've only been like like most of us reading Steve's like written communications.
And that's been fire. Seeing some photo, not much video, but to hear Steve speak well spoken.
And again, like no surprise from what you found out early on, Steve.
Legendary community here. Dude, glad to have you part of it.
Yes. You've heard the Pudgy Penguin songs, right?
Like all the ones that we have.
I'll send them to you if you haven't.
But that's Dan the Lost Boy who just said that.
Oh, yeah, yeah, Dan the Lost Boy.
Dan, I got a buddy in Austin who's releasing a new song.
Maybe you can help pump it up.
I wanted to introduce you guys.
Dude, let's go.
Absolutely.
Anything I can do to help you, Steve, just like you've been helping the huddle
uh absolutely and steve can i jump in now go ahead kate yeah so so steve this is uh kate and i uh
thank you for all you're doing and i did read your background i can i kind of came into the uh
uh my touch point coming into pudgygy Penguins is really the choice.
I own NFTs, but I love toys.
Yeah, so I like to be able to give them out.
And you probably know I have a friend who I haven't talked to in a while.
I think she's actually president of, what's it called, Asmodee Toys and Games?
You're probably familiar with it.
They're huge, right?
Asmodee, yeah.
Is her name Julian, by chance? Yeah, Julian Sharp yep oh i know julian really well actually okay cool i
actually yeah we uh yeah we converse we've known each other on facebook for uh a long time i'm
sure you know her background and stuff too so i was actually i was uh yeah i reached out to her
recently about about something but we'll talk but anyways here, here's my – I sent you a video.
I'm sure you didn't listen to it, but here's my thing about distribution and placements.
So, of course, you've been talking about the entertainment centers, the world of that,
and you started making me think back to the restaurant days.
So hear me out on this.
Placements, children's placements, paper placements, and adult placements as well.
So I started like just kind of doing some brainstorming.
And I see these placements.
One side is for kids with the pudgy penguins or whatever it is.
They might even be limited edition of collectible placements, 88 of them.
On one side is the kids to color.
On the other side is for the adults to
learn about crypto, right? So it'll be Pengu on the one side and just imagine Pengu with a dollar
sign. So while your kids are playing this, let's teach you about crypto. And somebody does a walk
through and get this QR code to buy Pengu and then have a machine in the restaurants.
It says a claw machine for the restaurants.
It'd be family entertainment centers.
Have a coupon on one side to go play the game once we get it into the game, which I'm going to get it into the place right by me.
Come hell or high water, Steve.
So it's a lot about that interaction.
You even have a pudgy penguin night.
I see all kinds of
stuff and it was one of the top in their restaurants I always ordered the fries with
friendlies for many years and yeah had multiple units and uh yeah and we used to people say I
don't want to buy a box of and even have the restaurants pay you know who knows how much
you could go to and you do it out.
But, you know, pennies for the dollar get tremendous reach.
Have people gather and talk about crypto, have people come on off night, talk.
Yeah, all kinds of stuff.
So that's just a branch out of whatever I can do to help with that.
I'd love to.
Thank you for sure.
Also, I think ST and then Wade.
Yeah, what up, everyone?
Yeah, I was going to piggyback on some of the stuff Steve was talking about.
Steve, nice to meet you too.
I know we've been talking a bit on DMs.
I think one of the coolest stuff about everything we've seen you do
since you joined Twitter and kind of started talking with the community
is like, you know,
NFTs in general is awesome.
The fact that we can see teams build in public,
but then when we have such amazing track record of getting such cool
partnerships and unique items,
being able to kind of like follow your page and see what we're working on.
Like currently is a ton of fun as a community member.
And, you know, I just, I don't know. I have a ton of fun with it because a lot of people
know me as, you know, I write a lot of posts and threads about like upcoming news and all
these things happening in the ecosystem.
And I love following your page and I love just seeing everything you're working on.
And, you know, so many new brands out there that are just like just starting up, you know,
and they're trying to get viral and gain a new following.
They don't have a community like we do.
And like you said, everyone has a financial incentive.
And I think this is such a unique area that we can,
as community members, can help the team.
I told you in DMs, and some people don't know,
but I used to work for record labels.
I had lots of connections out in Los Angeles. And there's so many community members in Pudgy
Penguins that have connections. And I think when you make posts saying like, hey, send me your
ideas and where are you guys shopping and stuff. I mean, so many of us can be involved in this.
And I think that's really cool. And I appreciate that you're allowing that to kind of come onto conversation with everyone
because it makes us really feel like a part of everything.
And that's like the most fun to me in Web3 is being able to like, you know, be in communication
with teams and just be a part of it because, you know, you go buy products in stores and
you don't get to talk to the team members and get to share your opinions and ideas. I think this is amazing.
I just wanted to give a shout out to you. Send your flowers your way because it's been exciting
just getting to know you a bit. Hopefully, you'll make it out to Art Basel. I'm definitely in
agents, by the way, so count me in. Dow already showed me the hotel, so I'm in.
Amazing. Let's go. What'd you think of the hotel oh no it's fine you know i i get the vibe um i said it's fine i just
want to know what day of the week is the main event because i got a book i want to book my
flight i'm like ocd that's that's why i have to be cryptic about timelines. Everything revolves around when our event is, and that
doesn't get set until a month out. We'll make it happen.
I definitely intend to be at Art Basel, and I also believe that Art Basel could be a strategic
convergence, a nexus point, if you will, between all of our different initiatives.
I intend to bring some of our licensing partners and really set Art Basel to be this
new age yearly meeting. I really think it could be the Pudgy Penguin Summit as a moment for new media and community, of course.
You know, to really allow the convergence of all these unique worlds, you know, a night or a few days to kind of to be together.
And yeah, I look forward to brainstorming with you guys and meeting
a lot of you at art basil definitely come through oh yeah uh one thing i'll do too i would love to
document it too i do photography as i'm sure you've seen some of this stuff but um you know
doing an event like that and getting everyone together and like a summit like you said i'm down
to document that for sure we want you there to have fun first.
That's how I have fun.
Dude, you find me at an event.
I'm dying to have my camera on me.
I mean, you know.
You did videography.
The first few events I had, I was begging Luca.
And I was like, dude, let me come shoot.
I want to shoot.
I want to shoot.
And they're like, no.
No, you're here to have fun. I was like, dude, let me come shoot. I want to shoot. I want to shoot. And they're like, no, you're here to have fun.
I was like, okay.
And I'm so glad they made me do that because, dude,
you just want to talk to everybody.
It's a giant family reunion.
That's why I worked the door, man.
First one that you see, that'll be me.
Go ahead, Wade.
Man, I just
actually got to be here for a chill-in.
wanted to say I love you,
PP, and I love you, agents.
I love you too, brother.
You're breaking up real bad.
I'll be right back on.
You were saying something?
Yeah, it's better now.
You were saying something nice about me?
I was saying something nice.
I'm actually, PP, I'm passing the
go to church or the devil will get you sign
right this moment.
It's an Alabama classic, dude.
Let me guess, right after is a billboard for the lion's den?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, something like that.
But yeah, I'm like the worst huddle member.
I never make it to chillin'.
Always doing boring, you know, government-ish things.
So I wanted to hear it. Well, we're here every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, man.
I know, right?
And I just never am.
But I just wanted to say I love you guys.
But then Steve came in and dropped this thing.
And y'all, Steve buried the lead and y'all didn't pick up on it.
Steve told us the story of there's a guy that actually existed named Arnie Rubin and he was a toy mogul for Funrise
Toys in LA. That's like a Zach Galifianakis character. Like there's going to be a feature
length movie written about Arnie Rubin of Funrise Toys. I, and I'm going to go see it
because that's hilarious. I can't believe.
Yeah, I can't believe that guy exists.
So, and like Steve worked for this guy.
So I know Steve's got to be a legend.
That's awesome. He kind of, you know, today he kind of looks a little bit like Zach Galifianakis.
I can see it.
I can see it.
I want to see this guy's life story.
I'm reading his biography.
I am like, I've never heard of this guy until this moment but arnie rubin of fun ross toys it's yeah
there's uh if you guys scroll uh through my feed i i actually i took uh my family to uh park cities to Park Cities because Arnie had a little bit of a mini reunion for the team and the folks that
kind of nurtured my journey, my ability to kind of come up in the toy game. And, you know, seeing
him a week, you know, maybe two and a half weeks ago, two weeks ago, still really reinforced some of the key lessons that he instilled in all
of us, where the customer may not always be right, but they're the center of everything you do.
And the evolution as I'm staring at all of these faces, all of these penguins is,
the evolution of that lesson is that the community
is at the center of everything we do. If we make community focused decisions, retail will follow
because they want to adhere to what the community wants. They want to evolve. They're getting
crushed by Amazon. You know, they have to give people a reason to come through and feel like they belong. And partnering with brands like us
allows them to make the right bet because it's quantifiable. We know how to articulate it.
We can show it in beautiful 2D or 3D animation. Like we are a technology company
who launched our own currency.
You know, just the layers,
the multipliers that this brand provides
from a storytelling perspective.
You know, on July 14th,
I think that next Monday,
I have a meeting with Walmart
and this is in their entertainment aisle, July 14th, I think next Monday, I have a meeting with Walmart.
And this is in their entertainment aisle, which is think of like where the vinyls are, where the books are, TVs, where Funko is, Popsockets, that whole section, you know. And we're meeting to talk about the evolution of Pudgy Penguins going from like a, you know, a pseudo, a toy, sure. But we've evolved so much where we're really
more of an adult collectible that has an aspirational, you know, toyetic nature to it.
But the discussion will be, should we be merchandised in the adult collectible aisle
as a go forward strategy, you know? And my hypothesis is yes, resounding yes.
I think we are much closer to Funko than we are, you know,
Roblox and Minecraft.
And, you know, if, yeah, yeah, I want you guys to know that.
I want you guys to know that some of the stuff that you guys submit to me
is going into the deck that we're presenting.
If anybody has some inspiration, you don't have to flood it, but feel free to share it with me.
But I see a future home in entertainment for Pudgy for 2026 and 2027.
for pudgy for 2026 and 2027 and um and and it makes perfect sense because like you guys probably
know a movie is is very much something that we have have been working on and some of those early
pitches are going extremely well even better than i could have even expected so uh to be in the entertainment aisle now to kind of prime the the customer uh
shopping pattern um with pudgy party coming out like just again i i hate to ramble but like i feel
the story is just so deep and it just has so many layers that um yeah hey steve i just want to ask one question that i'm gonna have hop off
i feel like tell me how high how much higher would the ceiling be for pudgy penguins if
arnie rubin was in the huddle that's all i'm gonna ask. 2X.
Immediate multiplier.
He's the man.
Unfortunately, he's retired in Utah doing charitable
But yeah, let's get him.
Also, Steve just comes on here and just drops all sorts of
alpha, so I hope you guys are paying attention.
No notes from that
ST, please. Steveve may i ask a quick
question yes absolutely yeah so so i'm off i'm gonna be going to the celebration station with
my seven-year-old needs yes yes and i said i will talk to the manager but you know so um yeah so so
how do i pitch and uh yeah like what do you suggest i gotta be honest i'm not an arcade person but yeah tell me that's okay tell me what to say that's okay i i i haven't i have an ask
um go to your local family entertainment center just like kate is hers is called celebration
station one by you may be called main event or Bolero or Chuck E. Cheese's Arcade Initiative that they just launched.
And ask for the manager and say, hey, have you heard of Pudgy Penguins?
They just released a really cool arcade machine.
And it's in stock now.
the company's called touch magics with an X and you tell the,
The company's called Touch Magics with an X.
and you whip out your phone and you're like,
you haven't heard of pudgy penguins and you just show them the Instagram and
you're like,
this is hot and this machine is cool.
And you can just show them the picture that I posted and that's it.
Just all the,
the way to sell is,
is similar to the way you farm.
You plant the seed, you water it, and eventually you get to pick the fruits.
So the seeding is something that I see the community being a huge part of.
Just implant that idea.
Say the word Pudgy Penguins.
Make them follow us on Instagram instagram get it into their brain and the brand will do the watering for us wonderful perfect yeah
um i like to show yeah and i and i sell but yeah just kind of show it shut up listen and let them
let them go from there yeah perfect thank you and ste you. And Steve at PudgyPenguins.io. Like if you really, if they're like, I'm so ready,
who do I talk to? Just send them to me and I will walk them through all the things.
There's no additional work. You guys are amazing. Steve at PudgyPenguins.io is my email. Give that to any FEC owner, manager, decision maker.
Sometimes there's even a person who's in charge of arcades and attraction decisions in a chain like Andretti's.
You just never know who may be in the building at that time.
Yeah, exactly.
That's perfect so like he had the bigger
corporations but now I think back when people come into individual stores we
would bring it up to the to the corporate owners so perfect I'm ready
thank you I love the I love the line you plant the seed but let the brand water it. I think there's a... Dude, seriously, bro.
You're spitting, bro.
Absolutely spitting bars, bro.
That is bars.
That's a quotable.
I hope I'm not jumping the line.
I have had my hand up for a sec.
Yeah, you jumped the freaking line, Dan.
Well, agents...
They don't have lines in Canada.
I'm going to tell you right now.
Penguins always waddle in a line, agents,
but sometimes they rearrange
okay sometimes there's different leaders sometimes you know and that's what we're doing right now
penguin shifting go ahead you backed it up with sources so i appreciate it i had receipts a few
things i wanted to say i'm super bullish on like not that we weren't already as the huddle and the brand you know entertainment focus just
super bullish to hear it's like you know a targeted focus even like in in pitching and like retail
uh i guess organization where we actually fall into the stores and stuff bullish af because i
think that's a much broader thing that penguins can attack and fit into so many different niches.
And as a musician, entertainment falls into that.
And I know even with the recent K-pop stuff on Abstract,
we're just seeing development into different parts of entertainment.
And I think that's bullish.
Mention a movie, that's crazy, Steve.
But I did want to just commend one thing specifically about you, Steve,
and broader with the team but you're
kind of being a great example of it now is this like open door not only like an open door policy
or open dm but the way that those things are actually taken seriously and immediately pounced
upon like it's not just like like a typical boss boss at, you know, maybe a nine to five.
Yeah, yeah, send me your ideas. And they never look at it. They just throw it into their junk mail.
It's just kind of like a sound good statement. I've noticed not only like, again, there's the open door DM, but we got weapons on the team, just like Steve that immediately walk towards
that idea or the suggestion, or at least walk towards the suggestion
and how it could fit in.
And that's super bullish because the recognition
of it being a community focused thing is huge,
but weaponizing that is really, I think, even bigger.
And it's perceived to be coming in and seeing that already.
And other teams have been in Web3 for years and years and years, and maybe that's part of the problem and are not recognizing that, it's just another thing to commend about Steve and, again, the team as a whole.
access to you while you're around a focused idea that i think i'll make a post about to double tap
but just to put it on the radar now something i saw on ig that i thought was incredibly bullish
maybe for penguins and the pudgy asia sector is from what i understand in taiwan their metro
passes like what they use to get in and out of like subway system, you can actually use something different than the card.
So like in Toronto or New York, it's a Metro card.
All you can do is like have that Metro card,
put it in maybe a cool case that's, you know,
it's a cellophane or see-through,
and then you could scan in or do what you need to with it.
But from what I understand in Taiwan,
you can buy like different items like you could
literally have it as a pudgy penguin or a different anime ip character that you're really into and you
can kind of program it to be your metro pass which is very unique for kind of like a societal thing
but i just wonder if that's a market we maybe want to look at approaching because it is such a day-to-day uh front of
mind you know people are seeing that all the time and maybe hey where'd you get your metro pass type
deal i just wonder if that's something that you've already seen steve or again if that's something
maybe we want to put on the radar it's definitely going on the list um I've witnessed it in Hong Kong. I think it's called an OctoPass. And I did see a promotion a couple of years back where K categorically a new opportunity for the brand.
You know, licensing, there's a buzzword called slicing because IP owners are looking for
different categories, as many unique ways to define contractually
a licensing relationship, you know, and very, very seldomly is there new space in licensing
in general, you know.
So this, those kinds of wavelengths and thought patterns where you're actually witnessing,
patterns where you're actually witnessing, identifying a new space, a new category of
trade is very powerful to identify early and beat, you know, some of the slower, but currently
more powerful IPs than us.
I love it.
I'll add it to the list.
I'll explore it and figure out who's making that and who's in charge.
See, that attitude is what I was talking about earlier, Steve. I just feel so confident that
you will because we've already seen some of those results. And like I said, I'll make a post about
it. I saw something, the idea wasn't really mine. I saw something on IG where someone was like,
maybe even selling their versions of it, but I was piqued and thought, you know, this is a great place for penguins.
So I'll kind of put that into maybe a post
just to put even other people's eyes on it
and get other people rallying behind the idea
if it's something they're interested in
and obviously tag you in that post as well
so you can get eyes on it as well.
But thanks for listening, dude.
I love the can-do attitude.
Legendary.
Throw something crazy.
Steve, Paji Penguins on the Cristo Redemptor statue in, what is that,
Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo?
One of those.
Look into it.
Make it happen.
Look into it.
Put it on the legs, Steve.
Put it on the legs.
My man. I like that idea. Maybe we'll just make a Look into it. Put it on the legs, Steve. Put it on the legs. My man, I like that idea.
Maybe we'll just make a meme of it.
The physical product.
Some things are untouchable, but
dang, that's a good idea, agents. I like it.
No, how could
I compare to the Octopath? That is
creative, Dan. And it's a good market
for us, too. I don't care
what anyone says. you got great ideas
dude thanks and i i never thought of it before we move on i just never thought of
it the way kind of steve framed it is like and maybe i'm wrong in my thinking here but you're
almost like integrating a licensing deal with like a whole like you know town or city or you
know area or you know maybe not government but it's it's a different approach
to that old ip licensing deal so i think it's it's cool to maybe even at least consider so
glad other ears are open to it so one of the things that uh he brought it up earlier telling
kate what to do when she goes in these arcades but these guerrilla style marketing attempts
where we can really just empower the
community to help us i just pinned to the top um steve he asked me and burko to check this out
but right now uh you can buy the new pudgy penguins book that's coming out later this year
barnes and noble for 25 off if you haven't bought one uh do it all you have to do is just sign up
for their rewards program with like an email or burner email and get 25 off do it. All you have to do is just sign up for their rewards program with an email or a burner
email and get 25% off.
If you don't do it, recommend tweeting it and get some sales in there because they really
take notice on stuff like that.
By the way, they're blown away by our numbers, guys.
They are blown away.
We're not counting the total revenue.
It is a $9.99 book.
What they're actually counting is total book sales.
And because Barnes & Noble is obviously a bookstore, but y'all have been in them, they
carry an amazing toy and collector section.
collector section. They've built a lot of brands. So now all of a sudden we go from being looking
They've built a lot of brands.
good with the book team to now escalating that up to senior management and saying, guys,
look what we did for the book department. The Barnes and Noble rep for Penguin Random House,
that's all that person does all day long is They sell Penguin books, two books, two Barnes & Noble, I mean,
said to us that this was a top non-celebrity children's book
in terms of total pre-orders.
That's nuts.
Like, y'all did that.
So now, with that ammunition, I'm able to go to the toy team, the TCG buyers who are not on the book team, but obviously share a boss, and say, guys, maybe Fall 25 doesn't look like just the book at Barnes & Noble.
entire table dedicated to Pudgy Penguins merchandise. Because you should buy TCG. It's
super hot. You should buy our new blind bags that are coming. They're going to have a redemption
code towards Pudgy Party. Maybe there's a little bit of plush that we can do that's a little bit
more high end. But we have enough to make a small but mighty statement at retail for this fall and then really kind of
launch, you know, version 2.0 of toys with full integrations into Pudgy Party, into Pudgy World,
you know, that are a lot more representative of the success of Pengu and Polly, you know, as kind of the relationship couple, you know, another thing
that I'm seeding and watering is Valentine's Day 2026 being our second Christmas, really the
celebration of Polly and Pangu. And that reads really well to a buyer because one, they buy things specifically for Valentine's Day. And two,
we can pre-fill Valentine's Day themed corrugated displays that they could just buy one SKU of,
and it has an assorted 12 or 14 different blind bags and plushies.
And it's a separate budget at retail.
Kate, what are you thinking over there?
You didn't like the Valentine's Day idea.
No, Kate pushed the wrong buttons.
I'm pushing too many buttons.
Okay, okay, okay.
I want those hearts.
I want to know your opinion, Kate.
Any toy lovers and if you have a big toy collection, show it to me, you know, and if it, you know, a few of you have, but like, just know that the smiling faces of our community, the smiling faces of your families, of the people that you're bringing into our space
are often the sales and marketing assets
that we're using to show the humanity behind the PFP
to our retail buyers who just,
it's a cold, cold world out there, right?
Like you just wanna feel like you belong
and our buyers are no different and
you know you guys warm up the the presentations yeah exactly do like doing video too i'm trying
to well we'll see when i walk in i'll probably video the whole thing but uh yeah we'll get smiles
uh you know it's funny steve we We already have Barnes & Noble lore in Chillin' before this.
Nah, nah, bro.
It's his first time here.
Nah, dude.
Nah, Steve.
I took him to Comedy Cellar.
He can handle it.
He can handle it.
I respect you for waiting.
It's preordained, agent.
Just deal with it.
25 minutes to bring this up.
We don't want Barnes
and Nobles to find out.
This is how you get to know people.
This is how you really get to know people.
What's the store number?
I did not sanction it.
I did. Go Dow.
Now Dow has to explain it
himself. Yes, yes, he does.
I'm with agents on this.
It's on you now, Pepe.
I knew the tables would turn when he had to confess it himself.
Listen, Steve, we'll just say that...
I don't use people as props, Pepe, unless I don't know that.
I'll just say that some brass in Barnes & Noble's have dealt with penguins in the past.
It has not been so well-received.
Dow shit himself running through a Barnes & Noble
is what he's trying to say.
That's not the worst part.
The running of his legs
helicoptered it like some bipedal
hippopotamus marking
its territory.
Oh my god.
That's why he went every floor
to ceiling, side to side.
Do you want me to take Harry Potter off the shelves or not, agents?
I'm proliferating the Penguin.
Get over it.
Have you been to the – what Barnes & Noble was it?
The Manhattan store?
One of them?
It was in Queens.
Oh, my God.
Well, that's good to know.
Thank you for making an impact.
I love it. I love it. Yeah, yeah.
I love the book channel personally.
I think that in mass, it's sometimes difficult to go from zero to Walmart and Target.
to Walmart and Target, but Books-A-Million and Barnes & Noble sometimes have a lower
barrier to entry, but their success can be extrapolated to the nooks and crannies of
America. So if you're successful in those stores, you can walk into Target and Walmart and be like,
yo, here's real data.
This is the units per store per week of this item selling it.
If I extrapolate that to your 3,700 stores, you should be able to sell 275,000 units a year at $9.99 at a 27% profit margin.
You basically just run the whole thing for the buyer and take away all risk versus speculating that, you know, my shit's hot.
You should buy it.
You know, like you could get lucky, you know, they might like it.
But if you can deliver real data from a relevant retailer like Books A Million or Barnes & Noble, it just helps the whole, it just fuels the whole pitch with data and makes it so much better.
And that's why I'm often talking about Barnes and Books a Million internally and externally,
because I know if we can build the case study there, we can really gain a lot of leverage over
Walmart. Walmart's the most important lot of leverage over Walmart.
Walmart's the most important account, but over Walmart and Target.
I think you got Dan ready to run through a wall.
But, ST, I'll let you close this out on question,
and then we'll call it a night.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
I had a couple things.
But first, Steve, I don't know if you've even seen,
when we got Walmart toys the first time too, the community rallying behind going to the physical stores
and sweeping up stores,
I already plan on doing that with Barnes & Noble
and all that stuff.
I already pre-ordered my book,
but I'm going to get more when we actually go to the stores.
And that's going to add more social content that these brands are going to see.
And they're like, holy crap.
Not only are they pre-ordering, they're all sweeping the floors.
They're not going to use that term because they don't use that web too much.
But that's going to be fun as hell too.
I did have one other question though.
I just wanted to touch on that too.
But when you were talking about going to businesses like Bolero or entertainment places and for community to kind of like pitch that idea to managers,
how does that kind of work? Like do places like that rent that from you? Do they buy that from
you? I'm just trying to think like if I go to talk to someone, kind of what kind of background
I have to like tell them how that works so so we have three um components
of of of a redemption program number one is the polar um polar express or polar polar challenge
polar challenge so the polar challenge arcade game from touchMagix. That manufacturer sells the product to family entertainment centers.
They typically do not rent it.
They typically do not do any kind of rev share model.
And typically, arcades and family entertainment centers
buy arcade machines like that up front.
So there's a one-time fee and they take all of the profit.
The second item is a partnership with a company called Pipeline Games,
and they are coming out with a branded Pudgy Penguins claw machine.
This will be in stock in August. Claw machines are one of the
hottest trends, not just in family entertainment centers, but in America. There are dedicated
claw machine stores. It's like a hybrid arcade, hybrid store that are opening up all over the country. And that vendor, Pipeline Games, does in fact do a rev share model
where they will deliver a machine at zero cost to the enterprise.
So this is a great option for a hotel or a resort or a casino
or anybody else who doesn't, or a laundromat.
It doesn't, anybody can like call up Pipeline Games and say, hey, we get a lot of traffic
through our space.
We'd like a pudgy penguin claw machine.
And they deliver it.
And then they put their location on a route.
And every month a guy shows up and refills the claw machine as well
as services it and that is a 50 50 rev share between the location and pipeline games um the
reason why we went with pipeline is because they are the exclusive arcade rev share provider to Urban Air.
And Urban Air is now up to 200 locations,
and they get about 10,000 young kids through a week.
So it serves as an amazing billboard.
And then finally, we have a partnership with a company called The Good Stuff, which is
a division of a company called Basic Fun, which has the rights to all of our amusement plush.
Amusement plush, slightly lower quality than retail plush, but you're able to get a significantly less price because you are technically giving it away or putting it in the redemption store or in the claw machine.
So there's still a very mathematical profit formula to make money on all of this plush.
vendors should one of those three are, are either they're,
they're probably doing business with one of those three vendors already.
If they are an established family entertainment center or redemption house,
you know? So, um, yeah, that's the, that's the kind of the, the,
the strategy at the moment.
