Hello, hello, give us a few minutes to get the other speakers in here and get them on stage and then we'll get started.
Well that was quick David. You usually got to wait a few minutes, but you're ready.
Give it a few minutes let's let some other people filter in and we'll get started that's cool if you guys sounds good
- Oh, good with me. Are we speaking with Chase at the moment? - You are, that's correct. - Cool.
Got a few people requesting to speak. Let us get through, you know, some of the intros and main points and then we'll open it up to community questions after. So just hold on to those requests.
David says we have a few people in here. I'm going to start if you guys are. Yeah, good to go. Perfect. All right. So for everyone listening, my name is Chase. I'm the social media marketing manager here at CERTAG and today I'm joined by David and Fez. So if you guys can go ahead and
introduce yourselves, your role within the team. If you want to, I would like to ask how you got into this space, how that journey started for you. If you want to share that, can, if not, no big deal. Yeah, cool. I'll go ahead and introduce us. I'm David and obviously with us, it's
It's FES. We're probably best known by ICON community members as the hosts of the ILICon podcast. For the past couple of years we've been providing the ICON ecosystem content in the forms of interviews and we
new episodes, mostly FES, I joined in later. And more recently we've come to work closer with the Icon Foundation and these days we're actively working with Icon Communications to, I suppose, help get the work
it out, increased transparency, what's going on, but mostly just talk about the interoperability value proposition that Icon's bringing. And in terms of how we got into crypto, I'm not sure if FES wants to kick in and tell a story on that one.
Yeah, look, standard story like every other person suddenly got interested in it in just before the 2016-17 bull run and Explored made some investment the bull run kicked in. Well, you know, I made it in life.
And obviously you knew nothing about financial markets, anything else. I was like, well, crypto can only go up and harsh reality hit when the bull market ended and it did sell anything. So, but from that I kind of thought, okay, let me look at what
of these coins I bought into that I thought were the best things in the world and that that's what kicked off my kind of passion in the crypto space and once I researched it I really loved what I was learning and got involved initially got involved by my YouTube channel and
where I created tutorials for using DeFi or just interacting with anything in crypto, setting up all of these things like that. And yeah, that's how, as I started then, making connections, got involved in Icon and here I am. That's actually a fun thing.
funny story because these days we host the, amongst other things we host the podcast together but it was actually Fez's videos that taught me how to set up my first wallet in crypto. I was looking at him on the screen teaching and teaching the masses, Fez is a good teacher so yeah that's how I got
Thanks, Chris. Yeah, it's a small world. Yeah, that's basically the same story as me, you know, the true Wild West days. I like to call them the 2016-2017, you know, we had the ICOs where you put money in and hope you get your tokens a few months later is a very interesting space back then. I'm glad to see we've evolved much more
since those days. So could you guys kind of discuss the BTP? Sort of familiar with it, you never did that. Let me pin that spotlight thread as well. But for those who aren't as familiar, could you kind of explain that within the icon foundation or icon team?
Yeah, BTP is Icons native interoperability solution, which is being built by Icons technical partner called Icon Loop based in Korea. So this would be this is an interoperability
the protocol, not a solution to protocol, that on paper allows for chain agnostic transfer of data across blockchains. So, you know, any blockchain that governs smart contracts can
