Thank you. GMGM will be starring soon when cool people. Thank you. I guess we don't have that intro music anymore, huh?
But always a good time to see all you folks.
I'm glad to see friendly faces of the AppDust community and crypto Twitter as a whole.
Thanks for everyone for coming today. I'm trying something new and using my desktop instead of my
phone for once for Twitter space. So please let me know if it rugs on me or anything that's going on and brand new microphone also because people told me that
uh i was too robotic in the last space i did so hopefully it's less robotic
i didn't know you can join from desktop i always like saw his own like mobile only before. It was. So I started back doing Twitter spaces in like, I think 2022.
And all of 2023, they didn't have the support for desktop.
And sometime in the middle of 2024, I guess Elon decided to tell them,
I don't want to do this on my phone.
And they let them, they added the actual desktop support.
But the real, still is recommended to do it from the phone because it's rugs and has
even more problems on the computer.
But it's great to at least have, like, you know, I don't have to hold a phone in front
of my face or anything.
All right.
Looks like we've got Steve and Elton here.
I think that is everyone we are waiting for today.
Super excited to see everyone here today.
Welcome, welcome. My name is Greg.
I'm the head of developer relations.
I was going to say one of the founding engineers also of Aptus Labs.
I'd love to see all you guys here.
I hope you're all excited to learn about the hackathon that we're kicking off with circle
door hacks, the control plus move hackathon.
So I wanna first go around and make sure
that we give openers and introductions to everyone.
So I will start with Steve
cause he's next to me in the names.
So go ahead, Steve, introduce yourself.
Hey guys, thanks for having me Greg and the Aptos team.
I'm Steve.
I'm the Chief Strategy Officer here at DoraHacks.
We are building this hacker movement and been around for 11 years.
And very excited to actually support another global flagship hackathon of Aptos,
which is a community we really love.
And we have seen so many brilliant builders actively
building in the move ecosystem, and specifically Aptos,
building DeFi products, building cool games.
I do believe there has been almost like hundreds of teams
that we have talked to in the ecosystem.
So really great to work with Aptos team again
and together with Circle team on this great next DeFi
and payment oriented hackathon.
So excited for what's next.
And looking forward to today's discussion with Greg
on what do we expect from this hackathon.
Yeah, super exciting.
It's always great to see Steve.
I mean, we've done a lot of hackathons with DoorHacks
these days, and make sure you show up to the DoorHacks
events as well when it comes to things
like Eat Denver and things.
So it's always great to have you.
And we also have Elton here from circle.
Um, Hey, Hey everyone.
Uh, thanks for having me at those Greg and or hacks Steve.
Um, super excited to be here.
Um, for those who don't know me, my name is Elton.
I do developer relations for Circle,
and I'm based out of APAC.
And for those who do not know Circle,
Circle is basically the issuer of USDC and EURCN,
which later in this discussion I'll
share a little bit more about the products that we have
that some of you may or may not know.
That extends beyond just USDC and EURC.
We have this whole suite of stablecoin infra for builders to just build, you know, finance use cases, stablecoin use cases on.
So super excited to be here.
And yeah, let's kick it off.
All right.
Awesome. Thanks, Elton.
OK, so I'm going to kick off our agenda for today,
and I want to talk about the Control plus Move Hackathon.
So we haven't had a global hackathon this year yet for Aptos.
So this is our first one kind of pushing for a nice global hackathon where we are having multiple activations across the world.
But the important thing here is why are we saying control plus move?
control plus move. So first of all, we wanted a cool name, but second of all, I think the important
So first of all, we wanted a cool name.
thing, so we wanted to focus on finance and payments and building a hackathon that really
focuses on the narrative about Aptos as the global trading engine, the full mission that we have.
So the important thing here being we've
got tons of great things coming through the pipeline
associated with the global trading engine,
with the sponsored transaction.
So the scheduled transactions, order book,
and other features along.
So it's a great time to have people work along with it
on the hackathon.
So the focus here is specifically so we can go and have people
build great things with our stable coins, such as circles, stable coins that are on Aptos,
work with payments. So that way we can have things like cross-border payments quickly and easily with the speed and cost of Aptos.
And also just building a great financial infrastructure,
especially since finance has been one of the greatest product market fits
of cryptocurrencies and Web3 as a whole over time.
So it's a huge opportunity for you folks in the
space to build that. And I'm super excited to be able to support this in a way where you guys all
can get a direct support from us and from a lot of people in the community. And it's really about how do we help people start their journey on building on Aptos and payments and finance as a whole.
So that's it for my little spiel about hackathon and sort of what we're looking at at the beginning.
at the beginning. I will talk about prize pools and exciting things like that later
after I first let Steve talk a little bit about what is going on on the DoraHacks side of Hackathon.
Yeah, thank you, Greg. So
So, Adora Hacks, we have always, you know, tried to carry on our mission and vision since the beginning, the inception of our organization, which is to connect hackers all over the world and help them solve the most critical problems in the world. So that's always been our mission to build this hacker movement,
this global hacker movement.
And the partnership with Aptos seemed very natural
as a lot of our developers and hackers within our community
became fundamentally interested in move itself
when the new language came out and aptos came out as a brand new ecosystem I
believe this was in 2021 2022 and so we have partnered with aptos since then
starting from supporting some of the core projects to building out this community grant program where new startups, ecosystem public goods can actually receive smaller community grants on DoraHacks if they're building and contributing in the Aptos ecosystem.
on DoraHacks if they're building and contributing in the Aptos ecosystem.
And so that effort has been going on.
And most recently, we have been trying to add AI capabilities
within DoraHacks capabilities to actually better help developers and new hackers.
So what that entails is that before, as many of you don't know, might not know,
is running hackathon was very operational heavy, like labor intensive.
It actually requires a lot of resources to run a very successful hackathon before.
And we believe a lot of the efforts can actually be streamlined with AI.
For instance, when you're actually running a very large hackathon with thousands of submissions,
you're actually running a very large hackathon with thousands of submissions, it becomes
tremendously difficult for the judges to review all of them in a short period of time.
So we debated intensively, like pretty intensely internally, that can we let AI handle some
of the preliminary judging. So we actually test out different models.
And we figured out that, hey, we can actually
try to build out an AI Avery or maybe an AI Greg
so that we can learn about how core ecosystem people would
judge the projects based on their submission, right?
How high quality their submission is when it comes to the idea and whether their idea really aligns with the core mandate of the hackathon.
And what is the quality of the product by understanding how good their code was by
reading their github information so all of that is possible right now and also
for launching the hackathon would be much easier than before before you have
to manually confirm all of the details one by one. And right now you can actually talk to our AI.
And our AI can actually understand
the idea of the hackathon with one prompt.
And then it can help you launch it right away,
like all of the details on the page.
So to this step, we tried to make organizing hackathon
a lot easier than before.
So this is the current AI capabilities. And this
is helpful for our partners like Aptos to run more successful hackathons by reducing operational
overhead, but also allowing the team to be capable of running more hackathons. We really hope that
there's like whenever a builder wants to join
the ecosystem there's always a hackathon waiting for them and regardless of the
type of product they're building there's always a program waiting for them so
that's essentially our end goal. So I would just pause here to I don't want to
hijack the Twitter space I really wanted to be focused on the upcoming hackathon.
But essentially, we're very excited to work very closely with both Aptos and the Circle team
to make sure that the hackathon can be executed in a stellar way
so that we can actually all provide a great experience for all of the hackers that's participating.
Thanks, Steve. I mean, it's funny, like, you're talking about AI and making the overhead for
running a hackathon easier. I'm not sure anyone actually knows how much work, like, people think
about how much work they put in to be a hacker on a hackathon. I don't think you guys realize how much work is done in the background. Like judging thousands, hundreds of thousands of
projects and being able to like go through all the data and like judge it along and making sure like,
hey, like how do we ensure fairness so that people who actually made something really good get supported?
How do we make sure that someone who just submitted something that sounds good
but doesn't actually work, doesn't sense, things like that?
So it's great to hear that you're building tooling that helps along with that
and will hopefully streamline that experience
and that experience so we can get more hackers in and get more stuff happening.
so we can get more hackers in and get more stuff happening.
Because my goal out of hackathons is really to help all of you hackers and
people build on Aptos and learn about it in a like incentivized way.
Because, you know, if you want to go sit on a weekend and try to build something
on Aptos, you can,. But if you have a more structured
environment, it definitely helps with that. Great. So now I want to talk about everyone's
favorite thing, which is what does everyone want us to build? I mean, I want to throw
it first over to Elton because I know that they most recently launched their Circle wallet
support on Aptos and what he's looking for people to build on this hackathon. Yeah, thanks Greg. I
guess this hackathon is very aligned to what Circle's objectives and mission is very like
What's Circle's objective submission is very finance focused.
So this hackathon is very strategic and timely, as you said, Greg.
As of last month, Circle launched, or rather, Circle wallets now support Eptos.
So what does that mean is, so we have a suite of Circle wallets.
We have these wallets called DevContraught wallets, UserContraught wallets, and Modular
So there are two wallets that now support a NavTorce, DevContraught and UserContraught.
And as the name suggests, DevContraught means the cost-dood know, is towards the developer and for the user
control is with the user. So depending on your use case that you're building in this hackathon
and beyond, if you're building a, maybe a very backhand heavy use case that you want to spin up
tons of wallets for your end users, I would recommend going with the
Def Country wallet.
It gives you greater control over the wallets.
And for user control, if your user wants to have more autonomy,
more control over their own funds, then that could be an angle that
you could consider as well.
So very timely, just before this hackathon, Circle Wallets now
support Aptos.
And we don't just have those products.
And we don't just have USDC.
We have this thing called CCTP.
So users tend to face problems moving funds from one chain
to another, and they have to rely on bridges.
But Circle has this product called cctp
which is cross-chain transfer protocol that allows you to move native uscc across chains
which is obviously aptos and 10 other chains so if you want to like grab liquidity from other
chains and move it to aptos and vice versa cctp is a great protocol to utilize that value asset USDC,
and it's native as well on Naptos.
So that's great.
This protocol is only available for native USDC,
which is available on Naptos.
And what I meant by native USDC, for those who may not be
familiar with that terminology, is that it is fully backed by cash and cash equivalents
and redeemable one-to-one for US dollars.
So you can rest assured that it is like a very reliable value asset of USDC.
So I think aside from this product angle, Circle Wallet, CCTP, USDC, Steve mentioned a little bit about AI.
I think that's pretty exciting. I think it's still a very upcoming, emerging use case.
I love to see use cases with AI and payments spinning up agentic wallets,
spinning up agentic wallets, maybe solving problems for users around the world through
the use of agentic wallets, which you could use Circle wallets for.
So that could be pretty interesting.
So all in all, my angle, obviously, this is Aptos hackathon.
But I'd love for you guys to think about circa as well to build with our
products as well on top of aptos um with usdc to solve real problems i think that's honestly
what i would you know love to see like solving real actual problems the more problems use like
actual real problems you solve like the more compelling and higher chance I think even the AppTorz team would award you the top prize.
Yeah, I mean, like, usually whenever I think about some random project that I want to build, I think about a problem that I have.
Or a problem that I know that people have, I want to solve. I mean, talk about, you know, even with circle wallets and like USDC,
CCTP and all that you could build something that allows you to pay with
USDC and agentic wallet, like on a regular basis, maybe, you know,
you need to pay your bills or something like that. I mean,
obviously you need the person who's accepting the bills to take USDC,
but it'd be really cool to be able to have
that kind of automatic system
would be an example I could give for combining those.
And one more thing to add, I just forgot.
Like, I'm not to overshine over your Aptos wallets,
because I read documentation.
It's really cool.
We have this thing called Gas Station that is also
supported on Aptos.
So what that means, if you were to use Circle wallets,
you can also utilize the Gas Station
to create a very gasless experience for your end users. So they don't need to worry about paying for gas,
you know, and this gas is actually paid in USDC.
So that's like just one asset.
That's all you need.
Yeah, just want to end it there.
That's actually super exciting
because then you could have a fully,
like basically touchless experience at that point.
That's super exciting, especially
when you're doing things like CCTP, you could be transferring over USDC for maybe another
chain and then you would just be able to use the GAS experience after that so you wouldn't
necessarily need the native token in order to pay for gas. That's super exciting.
Similarly, like Aptos Labs provides a build at aptoslabs.com,
which has a gas station on it as well for purposes.
But I'm sure like CircleWallet's even easier.
I'm sure it's already built in.
And Steve, do you have anything that you were thinking about that you wanted people to build in this hackathon?
Yeah, for sure.
I do believe there are...
I really hope builders can build consumer-facing products.
So I do believe, you know,
Apto's team is actually working tremendously hard to work with larger institutions and like manage to get larger institutions to run their business on the Aptos chain.
So I do believe that part, the team is doing great.
And I do think there's a lot of consumer facing opportunities.
there's a lot of consumer facing opportunities so stablecoin is
definitely one of the biggest utility for all like of crypto this year but
still like you know we're still relatively far away from making a
product that anyone can easily use like easily use as in how people used Zelle, like Zelle or Venmo
or Cash App. And there's two ways of doing this. You either just wait for some of the bigger
companies to just build it themselves and integrate themselves, which is exactly what they're doing,
build it themselves and integrate themselves, which is exactly what they're doing. Or you can
actually build this opportunity. And you don't actually have to start very big. You can start
smaller. You can start with your, just like satisfying the need of yourself and your friends
and maybe just your region, because, you know, it's a very global developer network. Some of them,
some of you guys are in Asia. Some of you guys are in L of them, some of you guys are in Asia,
some of you guys are in LATAM, some of you guys are in Africa. So, you know, I have been waiting for the Venmo on Aptos and potentially using USDC to settle day-to-day commerce, buying coffee,
day commerce buying a coffee you know like just like fulfilling a subscription you know something
simple as thought it is not as simple as it seems as it sounds but you know it's worth it I do think
there's a lot of like interesting opportunities there so this specific hackathon if I understood
correctly are looking for brilliant teams that's especially
building on the stablecoin and payment front that's one side another side is
actually building really I think novel and creative DeFi applications for that
part I think Greg can actually get into more details about the specific requirements,
whether the ecosystem and the foundation are looking for.
But just like personally myself, I think if Aptos and Circle make a baby, what would it be like?
And my personal help is that it's actually consumer-facing because I think that's where the biggest opportunity lies,
which means that if you build something that's meaningful,
there's a very large chance that you will get supported
both from Optos ecosystem, but also Circle ecosystem,
which will boost your opportunity to actually kick this off
as your new next startup.
And just like me personally,
I would love to support your early efforts as well.
So just my two cents on this.
You know, it's funny.
Next time I ever see you, Steve,
or she'll get dinner and we can split the bill
and we'll try to have a Venmo, hopefully,
that we get out of this hackathon.
That would be great.
I think that would be actually really great because given like the cost and
speed is so fast and you would actually use real assets rather than like,
one of the most annoying things for me is I always have like a hundred bucks
in my Venmo account that I forget about because someone paid me back for something and you walk away.
Meanwhile, Venmo is like making the money off the like interest on the money that I've
got in there.
Well, I could have it in my bank account instead.
The great thing about having something like using USDC and using on-chain is you could
actually directly transfer the funds without
necessarily having that escrow middle ground where you have to either pay for an instant transfer
or wait for like three to five days until they transfer to your bank account.
So that would actually be super exciting from a consumer-facing app standpoint.
So the other things that we're looking at is like other things around trading
and market infrastructure and financial products. So I didn't want to go without mentioning some
of the other people, some of the other partners we're supporting on this hackathon. So obviously
we've got Dora Hacks and Circle here, but we also have Ekadin who's doing a Klob, Hyperion,
Kana, they do DEXs.
Kofi is doing liquid staking.
Merkletray is doing perps.
And then also, oh, I missed.
TapExchange is also a Uniswap v4 DEX, I believe. And Panora is a DEX aggregator and the Nodeit,
which is one of our infrastructure providers. So using all these different people to build a
financial application on top would be very helpful for things like vaults or cross chain liquidity or building the ability to do things
like copy trading, social trading. These are all things that don't necessarily exist on these
applications already, but it would be great to be able to create that either in an easier way
where maybe you can copy trade your friends or you can create yourself a micro
strategy strategy where you T-WOP over a long period of time. Things like that, that is super
exciting to see from a risk management perspective, especially in finance, but also just because
more options and there's like infinite possibilities that come with these financial systems.
And building upon already existing things is super exciting or building things on your own as well.
But I think, Steve, you actually brought up a good point about like what's coming up at stake like here. So the great thing here is we mentioned all these things
that we're looking at you guys to build
with a bunch of the partners here,
but the prize pool is a hundred K as a total.
So we've got a bit of price structure
and I have to look it up because, you know,
my brain is short-lived.
So we've got a couple of different tracks here, or we've got one track this time to simplify the process,
as well as a couple other prizes that go along with it.
So our prize structure we worked on is a single track
that's built around the future of DeFi.
So there's a first place,
second place, third place, and then two honorable mentions. First place is 30K, second is 20,
third is 10, and then the two honorable mentions are five. And the reason we wanted to simplify
this way is we've seen hackathons in the past we've run, and there's a lot of different tracks.
And it gets really confusing between the users and the actual hackers, the judges, and everything else.
Because, hey, I have a social category and a DeFi category.
Well, which one does it fit in?
How does it, like, track?
And it gets really confusing because we generally want to ensure that, you know, everyone gets recognized for their achievements.
And having mobile tracks
interact with each other is really confusing. So this time, we're more about providing more
visibility on these tracks itself. And then also, we are going to have new prizes that we have that
we haven't done in the past, which one is for the best tech implementation. So even if you don't make it as in the main track, it's about how can you have
like the best tech and how we can recognize that. Because a lot of people I see in these hackathons,
there's like this one hacker guy and he's been working, I don't know, nonstop for, well, in person one, like three days,
and built something really, really cool, really, really hard, and really, really like technically
advanced. But it doesn't necessarily match with a good product. So it's hard for it to
make it on the main track. So we want to be able to recognize the people who are doing great tech and get them connected to other teams to help them build along their path and make sure that they're recognized.
And then additionally, new for this hackathon, we're also having top university teams.
teams. So we really want to, we really think that university students are, first of all,
I think they're the greatest hackers of all because they are willing to do anything all the
time. You know, they have lots of time in their hands in comparison. And I want to make sure that
they're actually recognized for it. So we have a separate track with a winner of seven grand for a top university team and three
grand for the runner up. So we're trying to be able to celebrate that student innovation that
goes with it and make sure that they're recognized. Now, that's all about prizes, right? Prizes, I mean,
we all want financial incentive in order to do something. But the important thing is what happens after the hackathon.
So we're going to actually have a couple things that lead up after this.
We want to make sure we follow up with each of the teams.
Sorry, my computer went to sleep.
And make sure that they, sorry, my computer went to sleep.
I want to make sure we follow up with each of the teams and make sure that they continue
to get the right experience where they get the support for products that make sense and
that maybe we help you refine your ideas.
That's where the MVP bootcamp comes along.
So we'll have a bootcamp that is after the hackathon
that takes the great ideas from the winners
and from others who have shown
that they have like pretty good ideas
and be able to have them work through a multi-week bootcamp
that helps them refine their ideas, get support, and figure out how
to build it into a proper product. So I'll get more to that later.
So after that, the important thing is how to join. So I'd love to tell everyone how to get started. We have our hackathon website up or you can visit
doorhacks directly for the appless control move hackathon. The important things you need to know
is that it starts on the 3rd, I believe, next Monday, and it ends October 4th. So the important thing there is that it's two months to let you build your products,
you know, vibe at first and get something going.
And also we will be supporting you guys regularly in the Discord.
And I believe we'll also be having support from Elton as well on the CircleWallet side.
Yeah. We'll also be having support from Elton as well on the CircleWallet side.
Yeah, I will be looking around your Discord, Aptos Discord, but just in case I miss any, you can always head over to, I'm not stealing the community here, but we also have our own
Discord channel at Circle. You can go to circle.com backslash Discord.
I'll take you to our Discord community,
and we have our whole global team there to support you 24-5.
I'm not going to overpromise on 24-7, but 24-5.
Yeah, I know.
We sometimes forget that we need to sleep.
We don't switch off, yeah.
That's usually me during these hackathons.
I try to at least look every, I try to make sure that I'm responding to people and keep up with them even on the weekends.
Much to, you know, some of my friends and family around me's demise.
But I just want to make sure that people at least are shortcutted the best they can.
I mean, weekends excluded usually, that they get the support that they need
and make sure that they can keep on moving along.
Because I know, especially if I was in a hackathon,
if you get stuck on something and
it's like three days later, then you kind of get stuck or you kind of forget whatever
the problem was or it slows you down.
So I want to make sure that people are supported.
And our whole DevRel team will be able to support you as well in the Discord.
So it's super exciting there.
Yeah, this is why we're building the AI internally. So spoiler alert, we are building DevRel AI capabilities.
So I do believe Aptos and Circle are
first batch of beta users on that one.
And once it's out, I'm pretty confident that we can actually build an AI Greg, an AI Elton,
so that on the weekends, our AI doesn't sleep, our AI doesn't take any day off, so can answer all of the questions
from developers. And our job is to fine tune it so you can answer the questions correctly.
But it's something that we're working on internally.
Guys, Steve is trying to put me out of a job.
No, he's really trying to make your life easier.
It's okay.
I'll switch from being the DevRel to being the dev who's building the DevRel bot.
And then I will no longer lose my job.
No, it's super exciting.
No, it's super exciting.
I honestly like.
For me, like watching AI become much more useful to people
has been great for short cutting a lot of the extra work,
especially me as I'm an old school developer.
I like the hacker dude.
Sometimes I feel like it would be like coding the dark
and the terminal
in front of me. I finally gotten adjusted to AI and like learning how much it can be helpful. And
like, I'm super excited to see what comes out of that, especially if it means I get to sleep more.
Exactly. Because some of the, I guess some of the questions are more preliminary or entry-level.
And I definitely understand the pain where I chat with a lot of hackathon organizers,
which a lot of them are dev rails.
They usually have thousands of ongoing chats that they have to be responsible for answering
all of those questions coming from partners, new startups joining the ecosystem, new builders that's new to move.
So I definitely understand the pain and we really hope that this AI can be helpful.
And we hope it to like be stronger to know more about Aptos,
to know more about Circle so that it can be a great helper for
both the DevRel and for the developer at the beginning.
Yeah, that's super exciting.
You're right.
I have over a thousand messages on my Telegram right now.
Badge says like 1064 or something like that.
since moving into it, it's been one of the most crazy jobs I've ever done. So it's been interesting.
Yeah. And also speaking of AI, we have a MCP server for Aptos as well, which can help you vibe code your way to building
initial products that you want for your hackathon.
It's worked decently well, actually.
I've been testing it long.
That's why I said I'm an old-school programmer, but I tried in Claude and Cursor and a couple
others to see how it goes.
It does a decent job. Additionally, like our brand new docs website,
we're going to be adding a chat bot too eventually as well
to help people who will answer questions there.
And it's well indexed for something like cursor as well.
So where was I at?
Yeah, like you guys can join through the DoorHacks platform. Make sure you sign
up there. I think one of the things I want to mention is what comes after the hackathon.
So I think the important thing about the hackathon is actually what comes afterwards. So what is it in for you for the future?
And if you're a winner, if you're someone who's well,
your project goes pretty well, or even if you just have a great vibe when it comes to it,
like I mentioned earlier, the MVV camp about building the way for you to be able to learn
how to make your product become a success, as well as providing
support from different angles, whether it be giving some advice about how to work through things,
how to build stuff, connecting you to different groups of people. Those things are things that
can come afterwards for a lot of the top teams. But I would also like to know, I mean,
so then there's also like possibly other things
that come along with it,
as well as like we'll continue to follow up with you
in the Discord and providing that space
for people to work with you.
Steve, is there anything you wanted to talk about
also that Dora provides to post hacker information?
Whatever questions that you guys might have about using the platform,
just like joining this hackathon, about submitting your projects to the hackathon,
there are certain things I guess you can keep in mind, which is don't
just like actually wait till the end of the hackathon to submit the project. You can actually
just like apply early after you have the idea. You can use the platform features to reach out
to other hackers so that you can assemble your own team or if you don't have an idea you can
join other people's idea if you feel like they're building something cool that's all possible and
also uh you can always add it uh edit the the profile of your we call a new startup a butyl
on our platform so you can always edit the the build page by adding more information to it,
add your GitHub link, add your YouTube product demo link,
add your actual demo link,
and you can always better the information about your team
and about the product as you roll out
more powerful features for the demo.
So you don't actually have to wait.
One trend I see is that two days before the end of the hackathon,
there's 100 submissions.
One day before the end of the hackathon, there's 400 submissions.
At the end of the hackathon, there's 1,000 submissions
because people always wait until the last day to submit.
So when you submit
early the judges can actually see the mentors can actually see your submission early and maybe they
can actually reach out before the end of the hackathon offering some help you know why don't
you try integrate with some of the really powerful features that aptos offers and also like their
circle team can actually reach out
to see how they can better support you as well.
So I would encourage you to
get your visibility there first
after you already have
a really good idea and just like building it
during the two months course
of the hackathon. And
always reach out like whatever questions that you have,
reach out to us.
We're three parties here.
There's the Aptos team, there's a Circle team
and the DoorHacks team.
But also we have amazing partners
that are all earlier Aptos core ecosystem projects
and their founders.
They're all very, very great builders and they have tons of experience building startups in the ecosystem.
They have a lot of know-hows on how to actually build a new project, especially a lot of them are DeFi founders, right?
So they have a lot of like previous experience building a robust product. So do leverage all of those resources in this hackathon
and don't be afraid to reach out
and we'll just be there for you.
Yeah, and I know you guys had an event at East Denver
that additionally had a couple of the teams
from previous Aftos hackathons were there.
So that also comes, I'm assuming you guys do that on a semi-regular basis as well, right?
Yeah, yeah.
And the last hackathon, I see that as a very huge success.
I mean, like the 2024 Co-Collision Hackathon is one of the first global flagship hackathon run by the Aptos team.
And it was also one of the biggest and most successful hackathons that ever happened on DoraHacks. We got 600 submissions
worldwide. We really liked one team which is called Panana Predictions which is one of the
first prediction markets in the Aptos ecosystem. There's multiple, you know, after Polymarket become popular,
there's multiple contenders in the ecosystem.
But Panetta Market came out from the hackathon,
and we really liked the team.
We liked them so much that our team
decided to fund them with our own money
to continue to support them in their,
like further their journey
building this project in the Aptos ecosystem.
I really want them to be successful in the future.
And I wouldn't say they have, you know, secured a lot of funding,
but the team is very active and they continue to ship.
So I do believe that there's very, very,
there's very good builders in the ecosystem
just building all different fronts.
And that's really the beauty of
running a very successful hackathon
and attracting builders
that maybe didn't actually build a startup
or build anything in Optos before,
but leveraged this opportunity to join the ecosystem and left their corporate job to actually build
something that's really cool in the ecosystem. So really looking forward to good teams coming
out from this one, and we're more than happy to support you guys
with all the resources that we have on the Dora side.
Yeah, Panana, those are great guys.
I've met them a few times, given them some help along the way.
There's also been a couple other teams that,
not necessarily the Dora Hacks hackathons,
but have come out and built great products like Panora
and a couple others that I can't remember off the top of my head.
So it's definitely a path forward after hackathons when it's really we're trying to help people
build their products onto AppDOS as a whole.
Last couple things I want to mention before I give final thoughts.
There's plenty more tooling and things to be able to build.
Said we have toolkits for create Aptos DAP, which lets you help create websites off the go, attached to Aptos on-chain assets.
Additionally, like I mentioned, the MCP actually runs that for you.
So if you don't want to figure out how to run it, go and tell the AI to do it and it will
do it for you.
And a lot of other pieces as well.
You can check it out for more information about lots of the tooling and associate things
as well as on the hackathon website as well.
The one thing I want to mention is this runs about two months. So at the end,
I believe we are looking towards probably bringing people to the Aptos experience in October, which
is our yearly conference that's for Aptos. So bringing them there and having possibly an award
ceremony at the event, which would be nice in New York this year,
as long as it's not as hot as it's been.
It'll be good to have people and see them in person for that.
And I think that's it from my side.
So I want to go ahead and leave it up to you guys
to give some final advice from the guests
and because steve and i have been talking a bunch i'm going to let elton go first
sure um actually just a just a quick step back to us like post hackathon i think youtube been
talking great things about um post hackathon because builders shouldn't just be thinking about what to build in the hackathon and just let it collect dust after.
But it's very important to think beyond that if you're already serious about building.
So beyond Aptos and the great incentives that you guys just shared,
Circle also have our own pool of resources that we gladly support builders who also build on our tech stack.
So you can have the best of both worlds building on both Aptos and Circle.
So for those serious builders building on top of our tech stack, our Circle wallets, our CCTP, USDC,
we have this thing called a Grants Program.
We run it on a rolling basis.
So I think you can feel free to go to our Discord
and just message any of us when I'm looking in Apple's Discord
to learn more.
But feel free to apply for it.
I recommend applying after you've done with this hackathon.
And maybe consult us for some advice.
But yeah, there's also an additional incentive
that you guys could consider on the circus side of things
beyond Aptos.
But just advice for me, I've been looking at hackathons
for some time, and I really like a good demo,
clear documentation, and a working MVP.
So if you have these three, you want my heart.
And what I do look for, if you are very serious about building with Circle with Aptos, especially
with Circle, if you really want to get those grants, for example, but of course, you provide
more support than just grants.
I'm very interested if you guys think very finance use cases.
If you think about payment use case, just think about Circle.
I know Aptos is also very finance focused.
But we want to paint that vision because we already
have this stablecoin infra with the USDC, the wallets, and all.
So you don't really need to reinvent the wheel.
You just focus on the use case that you really
want to build for your end users, for those real users.
Just ship it with our tooling and Aptos tooling.
And yeah, and then show us what you have.
And that's it for my side.
Yeah, super safe.
I mean, I can't even think about payments without thinking about
USDC stable coins. So I'm super excited to see that as well.
And my final thoughts, I'm sorry to everyone who has had their hand raised today. Please,
you can reach out on the Discord or reach out to me and I can come back
and answer some questions for you. I apologize because I guess we yapped too long. But if we
have a couple minutes at the end, we'll see if we can answer maybe a question or two as well.
But my whole thing is for my final advice for the guests is if you're building on Aptos,
check it out, sign up, try out the Vibe coding tools, get working, sign up for the Discord
as well, and we can get you some help and feedback there.
And if you have any questions, our DevRel team will definitely be able to help you.
Steve, any other last thoughts?
I think we touched on most of the things
in the past 15 minutes,
but the best time to actually build in crypto,
I would say is always like yesterday, but the next best time to actually build in crypto I would say is it's always like yesterday but the next
best time is actually now so so there's a there's really a lot of like interesting opportunities and
and we really want to encourage builders to actually build I do believe there's still tons
of opportunities low-hanging fruits in the ecosystem right now and I do believe there's still tons of opportunities, low-hanging fruits in the ecosystem right now.
And I do believe the team will be very happy to support you if you decide to run your startup in Optos ecosystem.
And there's multiple programs that we didn't touch today.
There's LFM program.
There's, you know, happy to see there's multiple startups
when all the way from the, like, very small to relatively bigger,
and they're on track to be even more influential and meaningful.
And the next one could be your startup.
So really looking forward to this one.
Pretty much every project that is on Aptos looking forward to this one. Yeah.
Pretty much every project that is on Aptos has come out of a hackathon or an accelerator
or some sort of intro build session.
So it's great to see a good reminder about the LFM program as well.
Just great to see like builders and builders be able to make their startups on Aptos
and be able to grow over their time and the space.
And I think that's it for me.
I'm super excited and I've been very thankful
for both of my guests here today.
Did we have any other, I don't think we have
any hands raised right now. So I'm going to do a quick sign off myself. And then if you
guys want to say anything as well, please thank you everyone for being here. I can't, you
know, App does nothing without the ecosystem, without the community, without the builders, the hackers, it's only from the community and those who are building it.
Can you create a great ecosystem?
And I'm glad to have been surrounded by all of you, especially like the regular listeners that he see here today for all of mine, including, you know, fun.
that I see here today for all of mine, including, you know, fun people on the Aptos team around
like Alex and Angel and Sneezy, but then even like some of the Chinese community that I
see that are still up, like Dr. Wolon, thank you for staying up so late.
It's almost 10 p.m., I think.
And everyone and Kikachu and TTV and all the people all around the world, thank you for all showing up and listening to us chat for a while.
Any last thoughts, guys?
All right.
It's evening time and I'm based out of Singapore. So good evening to those APEC listeners.
Sorry to keep you up.
Hopefully you can get some sleep soon.
Thanks for having me.
It's great.
And I'm going to have to check out and see if I can make a Circle Wallet extension myself.
Awesome. Thank you, everyone everyone for listening to us. Gap on about the hackathon today. I hope you guys
go and register for the hackathon, check it out, interact with the, interact with all the stuff
that is on the discord, please let us know.
And thank you. Bye, everyone.
Yeah, thanks for having me. Looking forward.
Thanks, Steve. I'm super excited for you to replace my job as...
Next, you have to replace my job as Twitter moderator to being a RoboGrey Twitter announcer.
The AI can never replace you.
It can just try to make your life easier or better first.
Bye, guys. bye guys Thank you.
