Hello, hello, can you all hear me?
Give us a, uh, that's unclear Chris. Fantastic.
seeing lots of thumbs up. We're going to give it a couple more minutes to let as many people join as possible and then we'll get started.
Can I see a show of purple hearts who who's already minted their their GM stickers today?
Incredible. Oh man, I'm seeing lots of them.
We have some exciting news to share in a couple minutes when we get started.
All right, let's get started. GM everyone.
It's great to have everybody here. This is a--
last minute Twitter space that we decided to do on our official Genesis Mint collection mint date, which I'm sure everyone in here knows was today. It looks like many of you had a chance to mint. For those of you who are tuning in and are not familiar with with what just happened today.
So Dialect is a Web 3 messaging experience. We are the best messaging experience in all of Web 3. We are live today on iOS and Android and we'll be launching on the Salonimobile DAP store on day one. We have a couple really unique things we do
But let's just get right down to business. One of them is NFT chat stickers. This has been what I think our community is most excited about, about what makes WebThruMesturing unique. In Dialect, and in WebThruMesturing in Dialect, we have NFT chat stickers. They are chat stickers like any other stickers you'd use in Telegram, WeChat,
and other major messaging platforms, but what makes them unique and dialect is they are NFTs themselves. This lets you own your voice in Web 3 in ways that you cannot in other more traditional Web 2 messaging platforms. Everyone has been incredibly excited about this over the last couple of months, says,
we've turned as we brought this tech online. Today about what are we, it's 4.30 Eastern time, 3.5 hours ago we officially turned on minting of the Genesis Mint sticker pack collection. And this was dropped to a large portion of our early access users
a week or two ago, time is a bore. I'm not sure when we initially dropped these packs. And based on some heroic work by Salonal Labs, Metaplex, and major RPC providers such as Triton and Helius, the technology behind Chat Stickers
which is called compressed NFTs is finally online. It is live as of the last couple of days. And then somewhat more miraculously, we got our iOS app store approval. So as I mentioned, we're live on iOS, Google Play, we will be live on Saga's line of app store on day one. This technology has finally come
online and we launched minting experience for our users just a few hours ago. So everyone in the audience who had a chance to mint, it's great to see you here and what we want to do is run an AMA and have folks ask us questions. But first I want to give a big announcement and that's that
Everyone who owns the Genesis Mint sticker pack has now been listed to Mint. So if you've been looking for a way to mint and you haven't yet been listed to mint, I'll explain a little more about how we went through this. You are now listed to mint. So going down
By elect, either from the collections tab or from your profile tab, find the genesis min sticker pack which you should already have. And if you haven't yet minted, you should be ready to mint now. So thrilled to turn that on for everybody. We'll get into a little bit more of the detail on how we ran this over the last few hours.
Just repeating that the Genesis Mint collection, if you have that pack, you are ready and listed to Mint now. Maybe I'll first start by describing a little bit about how we did this. While I'm doing that, I would love folks in the chat.
to tweet @Dialect or mention us in the chat and ask any questions that you have around the process that we just went through. The goal of this AMA is to talk through what happened today and what's coming next. So we just launched and our users just started minting the genesis
But you probably all know that we're working with hundreds of other artists now to make incredible content for Web 3 Native messaging. So coming back to what happened today, as you probably have all seen over the last few years,
couple of days on Friday or on Saturday. It's all kind of a blur now. We announced that minting would start today. Started at 1 p.m. and what we introduced was a one of a kind minting experience that was embedded directly in mobile and directly in chat. And to test the new technology, we
We first turned on minting in phases. So we started with just a handful of users in the genesis mid chat. There's now an actual official token gated chat based on your ownership of the genesis mid collection and we'll be turning on these chats for other collections soon. And as we started to see things go smoothly there, we then
and turned it on basically group chat by group chat. So this is like a one of a kind social chat based mobile first minting experience. We think unlike anything that we've ever seen, certainly unlike anything we've ever seen in Web 3. And over the last three and a half hours since that started,
Many thousands of users have been listed to Mint and have successfully minted. And as I mentioned, just a few minutes before this space, we listed the rest of the pack holders. So I'm going to pause there, Mark. I don't know if you want to add anything. And then let's just keep an eye on the questions in the chat.
No, that's great. I think that in the experience today was entirely powered by compressed NFTs, which is a huge, huge milestone for us and for the space in general. And what enabled what we think is one of the smoothest
minting experiences possible. And so that I think we'll get into with the folks at Triton and Helios and Metaplex and Salona, if and when they join. But that is what enabled what we think is a truly seamless, frictionless experience that you guys got to have today.
There's actually one one follow up on that the amount of inbound to dialect right at 1 p.m. Eastern time, which I was 5 p.m. UTC was even more than we expected and so just wanted to thank everyone for your patience. I think for the first 30 minutes or so we were suffering from
some load capacity issues. I'm not even sure how much we scale the infrastructure, but it was meaningfully more than we even thought we would need to. But once we scaled that up and then we have a special mid-ding service as well that was managing, basically making sure everyone's mints were successful.
Maybe 30 or 40 minutes to get that all ironed out. I think since then it's been relatively smooth. One other quick note on that, I think we've been seeing this in some of the group chats and tweets. This is just like explosive load on our infrastructure. And so if you're getting notifications for messages that were from earlier in the day,
Just be patient with us. I think our notification service just got like completely obliterated by all the demand. So just we're thrilled that everyone was able to successfully mint. We haven't seen any serious failures and other aspects of our infrastructure are definitely under an unprecedented amount of load.
Let's see what we've got in the chat here.
Nice seeing a lot of kudos and requests to join group chats. We currently have a 500 person group chat limit. We are scaling that to a much, much, much bigger number. I'll have a date on that soon. Right now it's 500 people, but the team is working around the clock to make it
So during our next group chat size increase, we will have just much bigger groups. So that gets to another maybe good point. In dialect, if you have the genocism in pack, you'll see from the
the collection view that there's a join chat button. And I think that group is tapped out right now. It's called the Genesis Mint chat. And we'll be turning these online for every other collection over the coming days. And we'll keep everyone posted on that. And they may even turn on before minting happens. I'm pretty sure
many of you saw that the genesis mint chat turned on several days in advance. I think we announced it Friday or Saturday. And so this kind of token gated messaging experience, whether it's token gated chats, that's not restricted just the stickers. We're going to be turning more and more of these features on
online in the coming days and weeks. So very excited about that. Cool. I'm seeing a couple more questions here. Maybe we start with Diego. So Diego, I think you asked, can you talk to us about sticker rarities? We can share a little bit of information
information right now, the Genesis Mint Pack was dropped a couple weeks ago to Early Access users. This is a subset of all dialect users who got Early Access in and can chat and join groups and message each other. That number, we're not exactly sure what the full
into size will come out to. This is a single sticker as a part of this collection, but it's well over 10,000. So the genocism in sticker we want to be a commemorative sticker for our early access group. One other point to mention about this is this very
sticker collection has just one sticker in it, but we will be expanding that collection over time. And there's maybe too much detail for now, but individual stickers, their supply will remain fixed, but collections themselves could be 10, 20, or 30 different kinds of
stickers, each with its own supply. And so we will absolutely, I think we tweeted about this a few days ago, we'll absolutely be growing the Genesis collection, or sorry, the GM collection, over time to include more art from more creators and those will all be of their own rarity.
Does I I hope that makes sense to everybody so the way to think about a collection is there's maybe 10 or 20 maybe 30 different stickers in a collection could be as views five or three every single
single sticker then has its own total supply. And so we could do more drops of genesis min packs that will have new stickers in them as we expand the collection.
And then in terms of overall rarity, we've talked about this before, I believe. This is something I'm really excited about.
Chats, stickers, and other kinds of like collectibles in the way that dialect thinks about collectibles, they operate on an entirely different concept of supply and abundance and scarcity than your typical PFP collection. And what we mean by that is we
expect and would like the total supply of the most popular and most abundant chat stickers to end up in the many millions. One thing we're excited to do is give artists a new platform to get discovered and to bring their art to market.
and to give their art to users. And so there's no question in our mind that the most popular chat stickers will end up minting the millions. On the flip side of it, we've got artists who we will be announcing soon who are going to be doing extremely limited, very
And so what we're excited about with this new collectibles experience is the extreme variance of the spectrum like from extreme abundance down to like mythic or legendary scarcity and we want to see all of it.
And with the genocism collection the 10 plus thousand that we expect here will likely in hindsight feel pretty small Relative to what we expect in the future. So very excited about that. I think the whole spectrum is possible so Diego basically to answer your question the sky is the one
of here. We were insanely excited to see that huge new level of accessibility. Part of the reason we are most excited about on the abundance side is we think it broadens the pie and makes collectibles like NFTs more accessible
to new entrance into web3. So if I'm web3 curious and I'm just found out about dialect, a friend invites me in and they get me early access and I'm playing around, I could potentially get stickers for a very small amount of initial money or maybe because I link, you know,
So do some things inside the app. I may end up getting air drops and packs, as I'm sure many of you have been. And so we're just excited to have that lower barrier to entry that you don't have to spend several hundred dollars or many thousands of dollars to try out your first taste of Web 3.
Chris has the question, can you please speak about what is next after this first mint? So the genesis mint kicked off our minting schedule. I think many of you know we are now working with hundreds of artists to create incredible, well, I should say they are creating incredible art and content.
and stickers for dialect. And I think, I can't speak to the exact numbers right now, but I think we have ARC for many dozens of them already and many others are in the works. And so this over the, like, I think there are a couple more technical problems which I
Actually, this is a great segue to the second half of the talk of the AMA. There are some technical problems that we're solving. I'll describe two of them real quick on compressed NFTs that we're working with various RPC providers, Solon and Metaplexon. And that is on number one to be as clear as possible.
Right now, many of you have minted your first chat stickers. These are NFTs like any other. They're just powered by this new compression tech, and transfers are not yet online. So that means trading and transferring, sending and receiving. All of that is not live yet. It will be very soon.
And then second to that, some of the more complexments where when you open your pack you might get three to five stickers. We're working out some last details there on that. And so that's actually a great segue. We have, let me see who's here. We have Brian Longf
from Triton, who is an RPC provider. He's already up on stage. Brian, welcome to the stage. Brian is, I believe CEO at Triton and they are the RPC provider that we use today. We're working with two RPC providers, Triton and Helius. I think Brian can talk a little bit about
services they provide, what's so incredible about compression tech, and what's next from a feature perspective. Yeah, so Brian, go ahead. Yeah, thanks Chris and congrats. This is really exciting. It is fun to see the new tech get off the ground. I did post a picture in the chat.
about loving it when a plan comes together at the last minute because this was definitely one of those plans. The where where we stand right now is that Metaplex last Friday pushed up another commit
that we think fixes a few of the bugs for the compressed NFTs and the metadata in particular. We're currently testing that right now in a Dublin location in Dublin, Ireland. And I'm trying to validate that. Hopefully that's validated by tomorrow. And then
We're good to go. We at Triton 1 are currently running the READ API in two locations, Pittsburgh and the US, Dublin and Ireland. We're one of, I believe, two RPC providers that are able to run this API.
at the moment with Helios Labs being the other one. Fantastic. Yeah, yeah. I think we have some folks from Helios in the audience. Great, go ahead. Go ahead. Great, great. Yeah. I mean, that's fantastic. We've both been working really hard on this. To make it work. And it's glad to see that everything kind of came together right at the end.
So yeah, you know, there was enough that came together to help you guys out today and then more happening literally as we speak and so that's all pretty cool. Personally, I'm excited about compression tech because it takes
It takes NFTs well beyond JPEGs. You've got one start here where you're adding a lot of extra functionality to a compressed NFT for a simple sticker. But I know that you guys have in mind that it goes well beyond that.
Yeah, so anyway, super, super excited to help you out and super excited to see the tech coming together. Yeah, thank you, Brian. And you hinted at this all reemphasizing also in the audience we've got multiple folks, I think, from the heliist team.
And they are having technical difficulties getting up on stage. So let's give that another couple minutes. I was up to hear from them as well. Just going to reemphasize a couple things that you said, Brian. We've definitely the feeling that I've had working alongside you all.
along with salonalabs and metaplex and other major contributors in the ecosystem is like that you're building the bridge in front of you while you're driving the car and sometimes it felt like we've only had like a foot or two of bridge in front of our moving car or building and so it really is incredible
I think when we decided to pick the mint date, which was originally going to be Thursday of last week and maybe many of you remember that in the last minute our initial approval on the iOS app store got revoked and so we ended up spending
a day or two trying to get that ready and thankfully got it re-approved. But that was Thursday and I'm pretty sure on Monday or Tuesday you and Helius like had your tech basically come online as I understand it. And I think we had basically publicly committed to the mint date before
for all of the bugs had been ironed out. So it was really like, like very much flying by the sea of our pants or driving on the bridges, like pick your metaphor, but it was really incredible. Amazing to see the tech come online, like right in the nick of time.
Just in time software development. Literally just in time. I'm looking at the folks who I think we still don't have anyone from the heliist team up here. It seems like they're running into some issues. But yeah, just want to like reemphasize. So just a quick thing on compression of T's.
Metaplex created bubblegum, which is this program that allows you to create mint trade. Basically, everything you would do with normal NFTs is 100% full support, but at dramatically greater scale, lower cost than you would with traditional NFTs. It uses a piece of tech created by Salonal Life.
which is, I think, called account compression. And account compression can be applied to anything at all. And bubblegum and compression of T's are just one instance of that. So for example, if dialect wanted to move its full messaging infrastructure on chain in the future, we might use something like account compression to do that.
It really can be any kind of data. So this was like a massive Herculian effort on the protocol side by both Salonal Labs and by Metaplex. But then there's a third critical piece here, which is what's actually stored on chain is this very dense, compressed, like, mercury-based proof of, like,
This is the true decentralized source of truth about the existence of certain entities. But that is not easily readable. And so instead, when you go to browse the chat stickers that you have and dialect, we are making calls to services that are run by RPC providers.
They are basically like indexers who make the blockchain available to interact with for anyone who's not familiar with that. And there is an entire third piece of the puzzle, which is a reason I think a fairly large code footprint for like how you actually index and understand and make
readable by applications, the NFTs that exist, compressed on chain in the Mercoltries. And this is just as big an important part of the protocol and the infrastructure as the actual part that's on chain. And that has been, that's like, right now I think with transfers, with
some of the more complex mints that we want to do with our chat stickers in the near future. That's where most of the last work is being done right now is in this indexer and Triton and Helius are leaning in a very big way to own that part of the infrastructure. So it's incredible to have you here. I wish we could get someone from Helius up here.
I don't know why I think they're just having technical difficulties. And just like these are teams that are not just implementing things built by other people, they're now leaning into really own and drive the development. So this is true kind of like decentralized tech and decentralized communities leaning in to build and own a lot of this infrastructure moving forward.
So Brian, I'll just say it one more time. Like thank you for all the incredible work you've done. Shout out to the Helius team as well. These two teams specifically have been leading the space in a really big way. Yeah, thanks, man. Always happy to help. This is really exciting. I'm a little behind.
If we have any other questions here.
Let's see what we've got here.
I think a lot of screenshots of the art that people have.
I can talk a little bit. I think we're about 25 minutes in. I can talk a little bit about some of the art that's coming up soon. We've got some amazing artists who have already produced some early. This is actually from late last year into January.
special edition sticker packs by artists such as Joyce Liu, No Legs, Spooky Diacom, and a bunch of other really incredible artists. If you just browse our Twitter, there's a lot of material there, and we will be sharing as soon as we can. Once we can do more
more complex mints where like you open the pack and you get several stickers at once, we will be ramping up and doing mints on that front as well, but that's currently in development. So expect at least a couple more days before we do that. We'll share more.
as soon as we can. Also one note on the collectability. So this is a single collection with a single sticker in it. We'll be expanding that over time as I mentioned. Some of you may see now in the collections tab that there is a one of one collected
As sticker collections come online and get launched with multiple stickers in it. So for example, I think Nolegs has over 10 incredible like claymation stickers that he has made. When users open that pack, you will
get a random subset of the total stickers. So if it's like a 10 sticker collection, you might get three to five of them, depending on their rarity. As we mentioned before, different stickers may have different rarities. And once transfers and trading comes online, you'll be able to hunt around and
And so this collectors experience we talk specifically about dialectic basically we're turning on a marketplace in the very very near future, but we like to call it a collectors experience more than anything and we think this is really a great way to
where the collectability of stickers just really shines compared to some other kinds of NFTs around being able to know what you've collected, what you haven't collected, finding and DMing holders in order to collect more and completing collections. We've got some amazing experiences coming online there. So that's all like
Probably another big piece of the puzzle is this transferring and trading experience is very likely going to be difficult to get into the iOS app store. So we will be working as hard as we can to get that online for Apple devices. We could run into some of the
and trouble with Google Play, but on both fronts, we have plans on how we can get this experience into as many users hands as possible. One workaround is obviously desktop. So there's already been a huge amount of demand for a dialog desktop client, and that is a very big part of our roadmap.
So we'll have more to share there soon. So it might be that you end up engaging with users on mobile, but when it's time to make the trade at least in the near future, you might need to hop over to desktop or hop to Solana mobile to the software phone where every single feature that we ship around all of these
exciting new experiences in Web 3 messaging and in this Collector's experience, every one of those features is going to be live in SAGA because SAGA was built from the ground up for these kinds of Web 3 experiences. Seeing a couple more questions here, Chris B is asking when and then in encryption, Chris B it's good to see you.
I'm glad you're here and I know you asked this question basically on the every Twitter space. The answer is soon as we start as we phase out of private beta, we want to we have that tooling in our SDK and we just want to we want to turn it on as soon as we can.
seeing any plans to drop more packs. The short answer there is absolutely. We're working with hundreds of artists now and every artist is telling us what they want to do. The best way to think about dialect is as a platform for artists.
That means if artists are interested in doing drops, they're going to do that. If artists want to do pavements in the future, we'll be turning that on. All of the above is possible. So we're really excited about it. We have a couple more folks in the audience. We might have another guest speaker or two.
It's gonna give that moment what it's confirmed. Looking at who we've got here.
[Clock ticking]
Any other questions on
We've got here a couple more. I've got a quick question Chris. Yeah, absolutely. So, um, let's see, you just had the app store approval from Apple and yes, but it sounds like not
all of the features are there due to Big Brother or some other conspiracy, whatever you choose. So, and since my saga has not yet arrived, what am I missing out on?
So we got lucky this time and every user on iOS, on Google Play and on Saga have the exact same experience, which is that today you can mint these stickers and use them in
chat from, and we will be turning on many more collections in the very near future. All of this has been given the green light by, obviously by Apple, Google Play as well, and of course on Saga. What we'll be missing in the very near future, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of
experts in this audience and people trying to build mobile Web 3. The right way to think about it at a high level is anything that involves trading or paying to mint. So if you want to buy stickers by an artist, if they're doing a mint, or you want to trade and negotiate with another user,
and offer some, you know, let's say, you know, paying USDC or Sol or whatever token you want. It's very unlikely that that will get accepted into the App Store. That's really the hot button issue is commerce. And for context, this is broader than Web 3. This is
And I think it's still a little bit of a gray area. It's not exactly clear on a case by case what Apple will approve, but it's not clear on the case by case.
Suffice it to say actual commerce and actual liquidity users trading users buying mints like basically like doing pavements All of that is very likely to be a contentious issue So we're doing everything in our power now. It got some really fun ideas of our sleeves on how we can bring the best
And as we turn those features on, we're going to be building them over the next few weeks. They will get shipped to saga for sure. No question. And so that's where you'll have an incredible and absolutely like bleeding edge experience.
On Google Play, I think they are usually a little more flexible. And then iOS, Apple App Store is the most restrictive. So the differentiation between what you can do on Apple is about to diverge from what you can do, for example, on Saga.
Great. A couple more questions here.
I think Sabi, one of our favorite community members, asked the question, "So the packs that folks have claimed to date will those be free or paid?" And at this time, all of them are anticipated to be free. The thing you will pay for is getting the pack. You can think of
Just like collecting baseball cards, magic the gathering cards, Pokemon cards, really any of it. Getting the pack is what you pay for, and then opening the pack doesn't cost anything. And that's the right way to think about it. So if you have claimed the pack already, it's overwhelmingly likely that you will, that will be a free mint.
Okay, next question. Can anyone in the future do a sticker pack? So I think Diego from the audience has asked, can anyone do a sticker pack? Diego, I'm interpreting your question as can artists submit sticker packs? And the answer is absolutely yes.
And you can also DM us on Dialect, you can DM our Twitter, any of the above. And we love working with our
We've got an enormous amount of inbound. Show us what you've got. We just want to help and celebrate and highlight the best web 3 talent creative and artistic talent. And then seeing a message from Max virus.
It's a question around scams.
If, for example, users can trade to collect, how will we create a safe experience for our users? This is an amazing and interesting topic itself. And I'll keep this very brief. To date, and for the foreseeable future, artists in order to create collections for dialect to
will have to work with dialect. And so we want to make sure that the content like users in our community engages with undiallect is trusted and verified and the safest possible experience. That's point one and then point two is in terms of the actual trading mechanism itself, we're building experience
is in the dialect that use infrastructure that just guarantee that when you engage with a user, you don't have to trust that user. You just have to trust the dialect infrastructure and the dialect experience the dialect app. So that, like, for example, if you're on Magic Eden or hyperspace, when you accept an offer, you don't have to trust the user who made the
offer you just have to trust the infrastructure you're using, which is hyperspace, magic even, or other platforms. Same exact thing with dialect. It will be using infrastructure and trading experiences where if a user wants to make you an offer, they have to use that existing protocols and infrastructure.
Another question, I think Diego you're asking when you'll be able to do memes. Let's find out. Engage with us. I already in touch on dialect and if they're really good memes, we'll get a launch. I think in the longer run and we have figured out exactly when.
And making it a fully open platform is absolutely on our roadmap. We just optimize for quality and safety to start. And so we really want to make sure this is a new NFT category. It's a new way of thinking about how you collect NFTs. And we want to make sure we bring the best and safest possible.
experience online in the near term. Another question is when SAGA, meaning Solana Mobile, Sticker Pack, and we'll have some news to share on that very soon. Very, very, very soon. I don't think I can say anything about that right now, but it's a great question.
Another question around getting notifications. I know this is on everybody's minds. The like making sure that you find out about a backdrop when it happens. We'll be building better and better features around that very soon. You can think of group chats and
dialect as your way to engage with great content, great artists, great Web 3 creators in general. This is just the beginning. And so finding your interest groups, finding the artists and the
that you love, all of that is going to be moving more and more and more into dialect with a rich set of features around configuring and being able to respond to timely notifications. That's a great question. Cool.
Let's see what else we got here.
Great, I think that's everything right now.
Maybe I'll take one last minute.
Give any last couple questions, but just maybe now's a good time to wrap up. I think we're already 30, 40 minutes in.
Thank you everybody for attending. This was a fantastic day for us as a team after some hiccups and some infrastructure.
I think it was like maybe 30 or 40 minutes since then starting at our 5 p.m. UTC mint date It's just been humming along and we've seen some incredible incredible stuff And it seems like everybody has had a really great experience So thank you all so much for your enthusiasm and engagement today month
I apologize if I haven't seen your messages or responded to you. It's just been, we've been all hands on deck getting this mint live. Two more points. You will hear from us any minute now. Next couple of days on when the next mincer happening, you heard it from
Brian up on stage now from from Triton. They and Helius are working around the clock to bring on these next features which will unlock the next collectionments. The art is ready to go and we cannot wait to get it into your hands. My ask from the audience is
If you haven't followed dialect, we do a lot of announcements from our dialect account. That is the host on this space. This is at say dialect. Follow us and turn on notifications. And then two, more and more, we want to move how we engage with our community into dialect itself. I know group chats have a limited
right now. But if you're in dialect and you already have early access, then DM me, I'm Chris, what you'd expect, just CHRIS or message Mark, M-A-R-K or Harrison, just message any of us, send us messages. We'd love to engage with love user feedback.
You have early access to that. If you don't have early access, tweet @ourdilectaccount on Twitter and we will do everything we can to get you as quickly as possible. And I think that's basically it. Oh, we have one last question and this is a great tease. Is dialect only
for Salana or our other chains coming. We are Salana Maxis. We love Salana. It's just an amazing blockchain but we are absolutely multi-chain. We will have a lot more to share on that very soon. So stay tuned. All right, I think that's a wrap. Thanks everybody for coming.
Congrats, Chris. Thanks. Thank you so much, Brian.
