spotlight space where we dive into conversation with founders from from radix ecosystem
so today we have actually how how do I spell it? Is it Atom?
Hi Atom. Is this the right way to spell your name?
Atombre. With hands, with hands.
Atombre. Okay? Atumbre. With hands, with hands. There is a tongue on the tongue.
Okay, so hello, nice to have you here.
So my name is Farah, and I'm your community liaison and host for today.
And with me is Maria, the social media manager, aka intern.
Not Adam, she is the intern, aka intern. Not Adam. She is the intern.
So, we have a few questions.
I can hear you both. Mm-hmm.
Maybe we were praising too soon, like, space is quality of today.
We can hear you at Ombre.
However, I think this might be an internet problem because of the wish delay.
Yeah, can you hear me now?
I think it was a network issue here.
So, as you were saying, today we have a tombra from what finance on and we're super excited to see what weft finance has been doing what they've been up to and see what their plans
are and if anyone's not familiar with what finance um and you're new here please if you have any
questions and or anything you want to know leave it till the end and the chat will be open and the floor is yours. You can ask him whatever you'd like.
Okay, so now, instead of us introducing you, would you like to introduce yourself in one minute? So it's going to be a one minute pitch where you introduced what Weft Finance is. Are you ready?
So Weft Finance allow users that own some crypto assets some digital assets in the Radix ecosystem
to in the Radix ecosystem to leverage the value without selling them by using them as collateral
to borrow other assets and use in DeFi. On the other hand, users with extra cash that want to
earn the yield on it can deposit them into Weft so that it can be lent out and get them some yield.
So in a nutshell, this is what WEFT analysis is.
You are the first speaker that actually does this pitch in one minute, in under a minute.
So tell us more about Weft Finance.
What's the story behind it?
Tell us about yourself, about the founders of Weft Finance.
of 12finance. What can you say about that?
What can you say about that?
by two Radix enthusiasts,
I can see him in the call.
already interested by the technology
said about Radix was quite different from what we used
to heard, usually heard in the crypto ecosystem as a whole.
And at the point we both participated in some challenges, early challenges.
I think he was one of the winners of Oracle challenges. I was one of the winners.
The DevPost challenge, that was a quite big one
in the special category, landing category.
So it happened that we are both from the same country.
And one day it was a vacation here in Abidjan.
And we shared our same vision, like at a point we need to have a more impactful
participation in what Radix is doing because we think anything that can be done to promote
the technology and also there is some business opportunities that we can take.
opportunities that we can take.
And we noticed also that many projects were preparing the launch on Babylon
because Babylon was on the horizon and we did not get much on the landing site.
So we decided to be the landing platform that could be launched at Babylon.
So that's the origin story.
So I never knew that you actually was, you were one of the Oracle winners.
I think it was, he built an Oracle that can push data from Twitter feeds on
chain, something like that.
So he found it on Twitter. He something like that. So he found it on Twitter? That's where he found it?
No, no. We decided to go with a landing idea.
But if we want one day to tap into a social network or information feed from social network,
I guess he will have the required skills.
Okay, okay. That's nice to hear. It's nice to also hear how you both came together and you
both had the same vision and how you met. Wow, okay. So I guess this is what inspired you to
create Weft Finance, right?
So from there, we felt that we share the same vision.
We felt that we saw an opportunity on the lending fields.
So we decided to create WEFT Finance.
And we bring some friends along the way.
Today, we have a team of eight people that work together to build what we ship.
How did your developer journey start?
So are you a developer yourself or is Yetinin?
I was a developer at the time in my career, but from a career perspective,
I have background from both statistics and economics.
So at that point I was working as statistician and also in telecommunication,
where I lead some projects or infrastructure deployment project and technical support services for telecom company.
I was working for a vendor and developing was more a passion.
And initially in my career, I was an enterprise custom software developer,
enterprise like payrolls or specific demand software, but it was not for a long
time, so development has stayed a passion.
And I think the release of Scripto sparked a new envy of coming back to
development, so I'll start learning Scripto, start learning Rust along the way to build up as a Scripto developer.
Okay, that's what we'd like to hear. You coming back because of Scripto.
Is Scripto what inspired you to build on Radix instead of other chains?
Is there any other reason?
Yes, I think we didn't have much choice till the shift in, I think it was permission
model that was revamped in a good way.
So the fact that we were there at each step, and I think the team at Radix did a good job
on interaction with the community, preparing the launch. I think it's a rose. It has always been very thesis to communicate with developers, to build tools. Thank you.
