Music Music GMGM, let's give it another minute and then we will get started. Welcome, welcome everyone.
I'm kind of having some Wi-Fi issues, so I'm sorry if I cut in and out if I get a little rubbed. Sorry about that.
But welcome to Friday's shill and chill space. We're giving you guys the opportunity to get on up on stage and share information about your project. OSS program or the community rounds. I also see we have a community round operator here,
so if you want to shill it forward to any of the projects that are participating in your round,
go ahead. My name is Day. I'm the grants program coordinator at Gitcoin,
and let's go ahead and get started. Needy, I see that you are up on stage, and also come on stage.
I don't bite. It's a little early. My caffeine is still hitting, so I might bite a little bit, but it's all love over here. So come up,
come up on stage. Needy, let's hear from you first. Hello. Hi, Di. Hello, everyone. Hope everyone's
having a good Friday. I represent VoiceDeck. We are a platform that rewards impact.
Mostly we reward journalism that has had impact on the ground.
And that's what we've been doing.
We partner with nonprofit media outlets across Central India and Western India.
And we launched last year in October.
Since launching we have had four to five stories up out there. These are stories that have had
tangible impact in villages in India and we've been able to raise a few mounts in some good news uh the OCCRP which uh publishes the Panama Papers is also interested
in getting their stories on chain now and we are in the process of doing that so uh really hoping
to you know if you have a penny to throw at voice deck please do we've also helped inspire a lot of a new outcome-based funding model
in the Gitcoin round as well.
I mean, in the Ma Earth round as well.
So it's very exciting that this model of outcome-based funding
is being adopted across Web3 and beyond Web3 as well.
So yeah, hoping for your support.
Thank you so much. So exciting to hear about everyone's project d sire i see you're still getting up on stage if you're ready to speak go
ahead and speak hello guy i wonder if you are talking to me. This is Maria Freitas behind the Desire profile.
Great, great. Because, you know, the line was just broken.
And this is Maria Freitas. GM, GM, GM. I'm calling today from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I'm calling today from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Very hot in here, almost 30 degrees.
Just came from Athens, Greece.
It was chilly there.
So today I'm here representing my project,
the D-Site Journals.
This is an initiative for scientific publishing.
The scientific publishing industry is a broken
industry, $26 billion generated for an industry that does not pay a penny for the knowledge
creators. We scientists, better saying these scientists, because we do decentralize the science,
we not only do not receive anything,
we get expropriated from our copyrights.
100% of our copyrights go to the publishing houses. We have to spend a lot of money to publish,
2 to 15K for one paper.
It just cannot go on like this.
So we are creating an alternative, almost entirely funded by Gitcoin.
It is an amazing, amazing achievement.
And we just love to be part of this community. I have discovered the crowdfunding
from you and I've been here since GR15. It was the first time that Gitcoin added this sign, I mean, they centralize the science as one of their rounds.
So now I'm also a community operator for DeSignGitcoin.
But this is a hat I'm not using today.
So I believe I just explored all my minutes here.
Thank you very much for the time on the stage i would love to
have your contribution i'm on daps and apps and also part of the design community around
the links are part of the desire profile so guys please help us to build this incredibly
to build this incredibly, incredible new world.
Thank you, Dai, and thank you, Gitcoin.
Thank you, everyone.
Thank you for the audience here.
Thank you so much, Maria.
Always love hearing from you.
With GT, I see we have you on stage.
And also, anyone else come and request to come up on stage?
Hi there, yeah. So i'm from orbit db i'm one of the core contributors um i think um we were on the last um shill and chill
i'm just talking about our peer-to-peer decentralized database system built on ipfs
decentralized database system built on ipfs using ipfs and libp2p for the db sync protocol
our platform is um or our solution is built for um those wanting to look at building a
decentralized internet um focusing on data ownership, privacy, and censorship resistance.
The previous caller was, or the previous participant,
had an interesting story.
My background is academic and scientific publishing,
and what brought me to OrbitDB was um the concept of an open source
decentralized peer-to-peer um digital asset management system for academic and scientific
papers and um that's just one of the examples of what orbit db can offer um next generation
of decentralized applications.
And I'll be looking to reach out to that person because what they're talking about is really interesting
and really important.
And there could be some synergy between OrbitDB
and what they're working on and what I've worked on in the past,
which is open source academia and open source scientific publishing.
That's incredible. I love the synergy there.
Elephant Room Climate Communications. Let's hear from you. Hello, this is Ben West coming to you from inside of a different account. How are you? I'm doing great. How are you? I'm good. I figured
I'd join today from the account that is actually running the project that I'm supporting,
which is the Have I Been Wrecked platform, which is part of the pretty good OSINT protocol.
The idea behind this set of tools is it's basically an AI-assisted open-source intelligence investigation tool
that preserves privacy and can run fully offline.
So this is useful for, as the name suggests,
like doing investigations into, you know,
if your wallet has been compromised or looking at grantee applicants
or many other use cases for both on-chain and off-chain investigations.
A friend of mine, a researcher, said that this was kind of like having Zach XPT in your pocket,
which I thought was a lovely way to put this,
having the power of some really amazing investigation tools that, truth be told, many of the bad guys use,
but we don't necessarily all have them at our fingertips and they can be a little complicated
to use. There's many different tools. One of the other nifty things about this is we're making it
possible to publish on-chain, which makes it immutable, and also redact information using
zero-knowledge proofs with some help from our friends at Holonym.
So yeah, that is the project that I am supporting.
Would love support from others in the round.
It's really fun being a grantee for a change
after many years being on the grant program side.
Yeah, and if anybody's got any questions
or is interested in getting involved,
it's an open source nonprofit project.
Would love people's input or our contribution. You can find our GitHub, you know, link to through
the builder page. So I will share that in the thread and let folks know. I can also
shill my wife's project if time allows. Is that right?
Let's get to Coconut Network and then we'll come back to you.
I would love that, though.
Sounds great.
And much love to everybody.
Hey, Coconut.
Hey, Coconut Network.
Let's hear from you.
Thank you for the sluts to shill my project.
I'm Wasabi.
I'm based in the Dominican Republic.
I'm building for the people.
The whole point and the whole vision of Coconu Network is to build community-owned everything.
That's why we take that community-centric approach to everything we do.
In a nutshell, what we're building is a distributed network
co-op powered by
trees and people. That's what
I wrote in the bio for Coconut.
You know, in order to build
unlimited, scalable,
perpetual nature
back assets. And what
I mean by that is that
I'm going to
share a program that Bill Gates tried to do in Africa,
and that's just product market fit for what we're doing. Because the problem is that
middlemen and bureaucracy forces that are not in control of the community are the main blocker for community assets to bloom
for stuff like that is more like community centric. So that's why we are building the
coconut framework in an open source way. So we can empower communities and help lower the barrier of
not only to design and deploy assets that stays within the control of the
communities, but those assets to be engineered to be cash flow positive, be it net and future value
positive. And in a way, traditional finance, they love real world assets.
And you can use them as a hedge against everything pretty much.
And by leveraging syntropic farming,
you are able to grow food and grow a harvest all year alone.
So you are, we are market-proof by design.
You know, when you are growing a syntropic farm
and this farm is owned by the community,
that means that the farm and the community itself,
they can optimize for the needs of the community.
Even though the framework is going to also help them optimize
for the wants of the stakeholders, providing the liquidity or the funding, the whole idea is to have a framework and a system that is neutral, they want to provide liquidity with for-profit outcomes, you can
still leverage the framework to optimize for the needs of the community.
Because by default, you create green jobs and you foster local development, no matter
if the source of funding is for profit or without a profit incentive,
like, say, a grant.
So because that's how you solve a systematic problem.
You need to decide with every stakeholder in mind.
So you don't back down on a deal because, oh, they want to make a profit with this project.
Yeah, you can still embrace them
because at the end of the day,
every grantor or every investor,
they want to have an upside into what you're doing.
So yeah, that's why supporting us is a win-win scenario
because we get to improve the framework,
we get to empower communities,
but also we get to improve the framework, we get to empower communities, but also we get to lower the barrier of funding for flowing from global organizations
into underserved communities and everyone else under the zone.
So yeah, check us out. Thank you.
Amazing. Thank you so much, Wasabi.
Ben, let's hear about your shilling it forward for your wife.
Would love to hear that.
And sooner or later, she's going to do it herself, I know.
But I am happy to be the forward shiller.
So there is this interesting project that some of you probably know about already called Holonym.
And Holonym is like this privacy preserving kind of KYC alternative, proof of clean hands,
which will actually pass AML checks, but does not store all your data in a big open honeypot database.
It uses a combination of AI and zero knowledge proofs
to take your data and store it.
So the idea is a browser extension
that combines HoloNIMS open source tools
with AT protocol,
which is the decentralized social media protocol
behind Blue Sky.
And from there, this verification framework
could be used on, you know, everything from Lens Protocol and Farcaster to even Twitter and elsewhere across the social web and beyond.
You know, it's kind of an antidote to surveillance capitalism, a way to do identity verification while still protecting your data and your identification documents.
So, yeah, I'm very excited about this project.
It's also open source.
You can see the account PrivID app
in the room right now as well.
That's the name of the project.
And yeah, it's super exciting.
Go check it out.
Would love your feedback, your support.
And again, it's also an open source nonprofit project. So, you know, if anybody wants to contribute or has thoughts, feedback, ideas,
you know, would love to collaborate. One of the coolest things about these rounds is
not just the funds that can get raised, but the relationships and the connections between people
that could be built. So, you know, if you're interested in these projects and you want to
get involved in some way, please don't hesitate to reach out and yeah thank you for the opportunity to show it
forward all the best to everybody here best of luck in the round happy gg23
amazing thank you so much ben love both of those projects
um i brought you up on stage, Refi Fangan.
Go ahead and tell us about your project.
Hello, hello, everyone.
Well, let me try because it's the worst moment,
but I'm going to try.
Yeah, we are trying to build
the full circle recycling facility on Kopangan Island based
on precious plastic designs.
The problem is actually huge because tourism and local development overwhelmed the island
waste infrastructure and it's leading to plastic pollution, illegal dumping and harmful open
burning which threatens the marine ecosystem and air quality
and actually our health.
So we're proposing the solution which maybe doesn't make sense in the advanced economies
that are really focusing on waste reduction, but in our place this localized small workshop
really makes sense as a first step.
So we're planning to integrate with existing composting and waste reduction efforts
and lay the foundation with this center to kind of start building something meaningful.
And we are asking for the first stage and foundation. We are asking for funds to acquire essential machinery,
which are four types of machines.
And we found a local partner, TAI-based,
so it actually reduces the cost on taxes and delivery.
And we are planning to produce the Nogles mold
so we can integrate as well with the Nounstow
community.
And the first stage also requires a lot of legal and compliance requirements and brand
awareness and community building as well.
We're planning to order the machines and test them on the spot and ask for local investors
from local investors additional
Yeah, since we are integrating with the NounsDAO, we're planning to produce the Nogles as the
first product, which will make sense for our party tourists and the beach tourism as well, and hoping to decrease the waste and bring some upcycled products and
create this kind of circular economy for our island, new economic opportunities,
and strong community awareness. Thank you. Amazing. Love that shill. This shill space is
only 30 minutes long, so we have a few more minutes to
possibly do two more so don't be scared come hop on stage would love to hear from everyone
on this beautiful friday um and also if you're on stage or if you've been on stage and want to
again feel free to would absolutely love to hear from you guys. We have no POAP today, but there will
be another POAP on Monday. Okay, I am adding Refai Cartagena. I've been practicing that all night.
Refai Cartagena, please go ahead and chill your project.
Hello, hello everyone, Gem Gem. We are ReFi Cartagena. Thanks for coming today. And we
love to be here to show our project that's related with ReFi Financias Regenerativas
in Spanish. And we are doing some activities, cleaning beaches and mangroves that it's terrible to see
that what is happening in cartagena that maybe um people who lives in there is not conscious
about that and the importance that we have to protect that the environment so we have a partnership with some
other projects in Cartagena that we are growing together showing another face to Cartagena and impact maybe some tourists in the beaches that may when we are
cleaning the beaches they come and join us that is fun but it's amazing to work together
and you can support us as well and thank you love. Love, love, Desi. Love you. Bye.
Thank you so much. And we have Decentra Code. Looks like you're going to be the one to take
us out today on this lovely Friday. So go ahead and chill your project.
Yeah. Hello, everyone. My name is Kakosa from Decentra Code. And yes, Decentral Code is simply an initiative
in East Africa where
we transform
Web2 Builders to Web3.
We have an on-site
boot camp that is running for four
months, meaning that builders
come here, they stay here
and eat and drink and sleep and
stay here for 60 weeks.
So we're on week nine.
And yeah, we want to, you know, take it to the campuses
and make sure that, you know, students from campuses right here in our country
can literally transform from web 2 to web 3 in the smallest time possible.
And also to see that these builders, the products that they have come with
from, you know, the boot camp, yeah camp can be further, you know, upgraded.
So it's exciting. It's good. You can really support us.
I've shared with Carcosa. So if you feel, you know, this is something that you would love to support.
Yeah. Otherwise, I'm excited. And yeah, thank you.
than what. Otherwise, I'm excited. And yeah, thank you.
Amazing. Thank you to everyone who came up and shilled today. We actually do have time for one
final show. So if there's anyone, anyone at all, speak now or hold your peace until Monday.
No? Okay. Well, I want to thank all of you guys for joining me on this lovely Friday. I hope you
all have a wonderful, wonderful weekend. Let's grow. I see the tree gens in the chat hearten it
up. Love that. So yeah, everyone hope you have a wonderful Friday. Don't forget, keep sharing your
projects. If you guys don't have the marketing asset kit for whatever reason,
message me on Telegram and I'll go ahead and send those files over to you. Oh,
Jimmy, you hopped on stage as a speaker, or I think that's Jimmy behind the account. Is that you?
A GM GM. Yes, tis I, tis I, it's me. Okay. So I have been talking nonstop because, you know, we're doing 24-7 spaces.
So I'm not going to chill tree gens.
But I see Green Pill Kenya in the audience.
I don't think they've spoken.
And I had the pleasure of going to ETH Safari.
And I know they're building eco-villages.
And we're actually planning some mangrove tree planting, hopefully, this East Safari coming up.
So please grow to Green Pill, Kenya, and grenade to their grants.
I'm pretty sure they're in the regen coordination round.
So check them out, Green Pill, Kenya.
They're a really cool Green Pill chapter.
So I just want to shill it forward, get that ball started, and yeah, much love.
Back to you, Day.
Love how you came up on stage.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for shilling.
Shilling it forward.
See you guys on Monday.
