As the people pile in, thank you guys for joining us today with Gombel.
So this is going to be a fun one.
We're going to chat with Gombel about some different things today, learn a bit about what they're up to, as you guys know, as usual.
Thank you for taking the time to join us.
We have Chris from Gombel joining us.
We are two minutes over the hour, so let's just go ahead and dive right into it.
Chris, thank you for joining us today.
Would you mind just kind of giving us to start maybe a brief introduction to you and a bit of your background as well?
Yes, for sure.
My name is Chris CBO.
I'm one of the co-founder of Gombel.
And I've been in the gaming space for about more than 10 years.
I'm not that old, but more than 10 years.
And I used to work at Google for seven years before joining this company.
And then I provided a lot of diverse business consultations to over 500 gaming companies.
and started Gombel's Web3 journey from scratch with the wonderful team two years ago.
Yeah, that's about me and background.
Very cool.
So being in that industry for like 10 years, you mentioned, and working with Google,
what kind of led to the switch, would you say?
Yeah, like, long story, but long story short.
So I worked with a lot of gaming companies, and then I learned a lot.
And I was kind of very curious about what's going to be like if I do my own business with the gaming industry.
And also at the same time, I was very interested in the Web3 and the blockchain things.
And I had, I, when I was in Google, I tried some kind of a side project in blockchain.
So like, like, it's like, it's a, it's a combination of those things.
Okay, cool.
No, I like that.
I, I think it's nice to, to sometimes make a change, especially into something as interesting as this.
And now you mentioned, obviously, you have a team with you for the last two years.
Could you tell us a bit more about the team behind Gombel as well as yourself?
Yeah, for sure.
So, like, so somewhere you guys can see Gombel and somewhere it's Gombel Games.
So there are two different names.
So let me be clear for, clear for this first.
So Gombel is, the Gombel Games is our official entity name, company name.
And Gombel is our brand.
So either way, it's fine.
So please remember anything.
So, so Gombel Games is a casual game developer, a blockchain spin-off of 111%, which is the, one of the biggest casual game developers, well known for Random Dice Defense and BB10 series, etc.
It's one of the biggest game, casual game companies in Korea.
So we're like a blockchain spin-off.
And then so far, we launched more than 200 games in last eight years.
So we have pretty much big experiences in the web too, like with a lot of fun games.
And so when we do the mess, like 200 games in eight years, it means that we launch one new game every other week.
So we're very fast in terms of the game development and ideation and execution, everything.
So leveraging those track record and agile culture.
So we aim to bring real gamers into Web3.
So most of our, and then also most of our key developers and designers were directly transferred from our parent company, 111%.
So, and then the, and then we attracted investment from Binance Labs, Spartan, Animoca, iOSG, Foresight, SEMA, et cetera, Creep Ventures as well.
A lot, a lot of like great investors backing us.
So yeah, there are a lot of things behind us and supporting us.
I mean, yeah, that's quite the introduction.
First, yeah, I, I, I did see the, the funding announcement.
Apologies.
I just wanted to say congratulations on that as well.
It was quite, it was quite the list of, of backers I saw in the image as well.
Was there any particular like moment or, or response or like backer in that sense that really had you like, oh, this is very exciting.
Or was it all just, uh, it's same level of, uh, excitement and hype all at once?
Like, yeah, it's, it's the combination of two different rounds, by the way.
So like, um, the, their sentiment and they're like, um, the, the biggest important, their, uh, highlight points.
It varies by, it varies, but still a lot of like key, uh, important points that, uh, they love, they liked us.
Like, like the most, um, uh, one of the important thing is we have, uh, we are very fast.
So they understand fully how we develop the games, how we, uh, usually do, uh, like, so, so let me explain a little bit, little bit about this.
When you do make the new game, we have like, uh, a few days of ideations and brainstorming.
And then if we have a very good key rules of the game, then concept, then we just, one developer, one designer, just write, develop, and write designs right into it.
And then it takes about one week or a little bit more.
And then we just have, uh, our MVP version.
Then we, uh, just launch it in the Google Play and the App Store to see the user's first reaction.
Even though the, there should be some little bugs or the design itself is not that perfect, but still the key rules of the games are, if it's quite fun or it has a potential, then it shows the great numbers in terms of early retentions.
So that's how we do, uh, uh, we have done for last eight years.
So including the prototype, um, we have more than about like a 400 or more, more prototypes.
We killed a lot of games.
So after we just, uh, uh, uh, launched the MVP version, then if the retention rate is bad, then we killed just, or pivot right away.
So, but we don't, we don't get this disappointed because it's like, uh, in the process of the finding a successful games.
So, yeah, we need to try a lot of times.
That's one of the thing many investors are like, uh, they like it.
Yeah, I, that really is an interesting perspective, at least from what I've seen, maybe in recent years and, um, the kind of game world and people that are creating games.
That's a very interesting outlook on the process.
I I've really not seen, um, this kind of format before, at least from my perspective.
So this kind of focus more so directly on, um, just shipping, right.
Getting something out.
Is it fun taking that simple question into fact?
And if it's not fun, it's gone.
What is that metric of retention and how do you kind of, uh, get that understanding of was this fun?
Is it just based on like the feedback from users, uh, you know, reviews, uh, or is it like how many people are just consistently playing it?
Like, cause I know you want to keep those numbers simple to know if you're going to kill a game or not.
Uh, I was just wondering if you could kind of give us more of the, of that, that formula that you think is something worth keeping.
That's our business secret.
Just kidding.
But we cannot share everything, but the thing is it varies by the situation.
It depends.
Some like, but the, the one thing we, uh, the, put the most important importance is the, uh,
early retention rate, like, uh, day one and day three and day seven retention that tells everything in terms of the, uh, for the, uh, early, early stage game or MVP version.
And then also, um, there's a lot of, uh, like other metrics, uh, to, uh, figure out the, uh, their stickiness and potentials and others.
So it's all combinations, but, uh, definitely the early retention is the most important.
It shows everything.
Um, yeah, I, I agree.
I, I know I definitely can't give me all of the information, but I appreciate that.
Um, it's just such an interesting take.
Um, was it always this way for, for you guys, or was it something that you found over time worked well, or was this kind of the idea from the start?
So our eight years of history, um, it's not only the simple way.
Uh, we started from very light hypercasual games because like, uh, our co-founders, like our, the parent company, they're all like a university, a college student, friends.
They started from like, like a college and then dormitory, not literally dormitory, but like that, just like that.
So they're not rich, they don't have enough funds.
So they try a lot of things, uh, without any money.
So it's, it's one of the key secret factor, uh, success factor, I think at the end of the day, because they tried a lot of things, uh, for example, a lot of buyer marketing, uh, effort without any like paid marketing things.
So, um, um, yeah.
So like, I, I'm kind of like, um, like I forgot the original questions, but like, it was kind of, they try a lot of different things and keep going and keep doing it.
So they, uh, successfully find the, uh, find a way, uh, how to, uh, get success, make the successful hypercasual game first, and then how to like drive the cheaper user acquisition cost with the buyer marketing effect.
So that's the early stage success factors.
And then later than that, um, the casual game is big industry starting from very light hypercasual to, uh, like more hardcore.
I, I cannot say like hardcore, but it's course casual games as well, like a hybrid casual games.
So, uh, our parent company started to, um, uh, they'll dive into more, uh, hybrid casual games.
So our most successful games, which is random dice defense is, I would say, it's not light casual game.
It's more strategic casual games.
So, uh, you know, the, the hyper casual games, the, uh, 90% of revenue usually coming from ads revenue, but the, uh, strategic or hybrid casual games, um, it's like a more, there are more IAPs in a purchase usually.
So our most successful games, which is random dice defense.
So, uh, uh, like a, more than 70 to 80% of the revenue, uh, is coming from in a purchase IAP.
So we evolved from the light, light casual games to more, uh, hybrid and hybrid and core casual games.
So the, the, the, the recipes and success, key success factors, and all the, the factors and elements are different, uh, between the light and core casual games.
So if we have more times, then we can, uh, discuss more, but yeah, let's, let's meet or have another time.
Yeah, no, that's definitely, uh, a much larger topic for sure.
It's, it's really an interesting area.
I think, uh, not a lot of people when they think about the gaming industry and gaming and even web three gaming that they think about these different statistics and, um, interests around, you know, obviously casual games versus, uh, you know, what most people would think the gaming industry is, are those big triple A's, et cetera.
Um, for the most part, right.
Um, it's definitely an interesting space, um, especially with what you guys are doing.
And so I'm curious, um, in most of your games, and this is a quick question.
Um, so obviously releasing 200 games is quite a lot, right?
Do all of these incorporate web three in some way, or just, uh, more so like here and there, they'll have different statistics or is there a different kind of mechanic within Gombl that works into the web three spectrum?
Very, very good question.
Um, so, um, like, uh, those 200 games are not in Gombl yet.
Uh, it's in, uh, our other subsidiary company, affiliate companies or parent companies.
So all spread out.
And then, but, uh, so the one, the, our first step is we already launched our own 12 games.
So when you search in Google play or app store, you will be able to find 12 games from the Gombl games.
So we, we originated 12 different IPs already, uh, by ourselves.
And then that's our first step.
We want to test everything about the web three with this, these games first.
And then later, uh, we're gonna, we're gonna gradually migrate, uh, like our, uh, affiliate companies games, which is like a 200 and more and more.
Because like our total group companies are driving 40 million monthly downloads these days.
So there are huge things coming, but, uh, we're gonna gradually migrate them.
So there, but, but we're gonna start from our own games, 12 games first.
So like, uh, uh, we're, we're gonna start, start, start small, start from small.
And then, uh, we, if, if, if, if we, uh, find the evidence and find the solution, then we're gonna gradually expand to the other games.
And then that's our step two, uh, like, uh, like, uh, uh, uh, the, uh, migrating our web three component on the, our affiliate company's game, all the games.
And our step threes are, uh, uh, more about the publishing business.
We're not only working with our own umbrella company's games, but also we're gonna, uh, help and support, like, developers who have no idea about the web three.
Uh, so we're gonna help them to launch web three games with our own specialties and all the systems with the Gombu Connect.
So that's our steps, number three.
Yeah, I know.
I think that makes a lot of sense.
Um, and yeah, I was actually on, uh, I like to kind of scroll the pages, uh, check out everything while we, we chat as well.
I was looking at some of the games on, uh, Google play as well.
And merge line a hundred K plus downloads actually is pretty, yeah, it's pretty crazy.
That's a, that's a really big one.
You should play.

Um, I'll give it a try.
Um, I, I, I'm pretty, I, like my whole life I've played video games, right?
Um, I never realized how fun some of these like mobile games can be.
And then like every now and then one will get me just like addicted for a while.
So, uh, yeah, nature is, nature is totally different, but definitely you, you'll taste some of the, uh, fun, fun factors from that casual games, mobile casual games as well.
Um, but nature is, um, yeah, no, I appreciate that.
Um, so yeah, they're very exciting and a hundred K is huge.
I just want to say congratulations on that as well.
Um, you know, you guys, I think that it's very admirable in this viewpoint you have where shipping so much product to learn for users in the industry.
I think that's super important, especially when it comes to, um, you know, like you mentioned, the kind of onboarding and mixing up the two industries, the casual area, web three, uh, you know, hardcore gamers, et cetera.
Um, it, it, it's all a lot of work, of course, and so a big portion of this as well will involve, uh, you know, building a larger online community around Gommel as well.
Rather than just a player playing the game, seeing the, you know, it was created by whoever and moving on with their day.
Um, you know, obviously a big, a bigger part of this is, is working on these communities.
And so that kind of, you know, leads us into perspective as well.
Uh, my next question for you was, you know, how did, you know, you kind of end up thinking through this process of, you know, working with us and, you know, how has this process been so far?
So, um, really like it would be a very advantageous from, uh, us in terms of, especially marketing perspective, but also the everything, because like building the committee is very important for our stage.
So, um, we started to build our Web3 community, uh, uh, aggressively from last December.
It's been about like four months and then, uh, thanks to, uh, your, your support, um, it boosted a lot, uh, when, when we started.
So, uh, like, uh, about, like we estimated 40,000 users have connected to Gommel through Galaxy, which is like, uh, awesome.
So, um, so thank you so much.

And then we're pleased to meet many users through Galaxy and look forward to attracting even more users in the future.
And also, uh, we really enjoyed the Galaxy's.
You guys are proactive communications and cooperation throughout the collaboration process as well.

Um, and obviously, you know, you mentioned, you know, the marketing perspective, the 40K users, et cetera, you know, obviously there's, there's many more users exploring the Galaxy on, you know, a daily basis.
Uh, what kind of different products or, you know, pieces of Gommel that you maybe specifically want to, or have been guiding users through Galaxy?
Oh, so before jumping into that question, just have a one question.
So how can I pronunciate this?
Galaxy or Gals?
Which one is the right pronunciation?
Just out of.
Just, just Gal-X-E.
So Galaxy.
It sounds like Galaxy, but okay, Galaxy.
Yeah, yeah.
It's technically Gal-X-E, but you can just say Galaxy because it still rolls off the tongue the same, right?
You guys, uh, thought about it a lot.
It used to be originally, um, over almost two years.
I mean, at this point we were Project Galaxy and it was spelled G-A-L-A-X-Y.
Um, but yeah, through long process, we became G-A-L-X-E, shorter, easier to use Gal-X-E Galaxy.
little bit of history for you yeah thank you thank you for that so we gombo has the same similar
not similar but very unique um the origin but let me let me cover that later and back to the
original question so the product part i want to emphasize today is there are a lot but there are
stake and auction and there are the three key elements for now so remember stake auction and
there stake there and auction any any order so gombo is currently building our uh
dow for effective marketing in both web 3 and web 2 and uh we're gonna build uh our treasury so
we're raising funds through staking and auctions uh auctions in as well so we managed to raise about
100 000 usdt dollar value uh through staking with the deposited funds amounting to approximately
10 to more than 15 million staking amount so stake is just stake you can just visit our website
our air drive event website and then just stake either bmb or usdt usdc then uh like uh these
yields and interest will go to directly go to our uh marketing dow treasury uh so so that like our
ecosystem will will leverage those funds later for the ecosystem growth and then in return the
participant will will be able to get the our mystery marble which is our um the airdrop currency and
then it's very um similar equivalent to our token later it's pre pre-tg yet but you can you can expect

yet not yet so i'm supposed to promote this more and more in the following questions but let me highlight

and i lose a lot of time i lose personally i lose a lot of time so it's a very fair fair game even i'm
i lose a lot of mystery marvel so and i'm definitely gonna give it a try myself yeah and then also

nfts and tokens and there will be also chances to earn nfts and tokens through gombos quest schedule as

and then one thing i want to highlight more is that you know i already told you that staking uh the yield
is going to our treasury uh the market marketing dow treasury and then you will get the mystery marble in
return and then currently uh the uh i'm not sure i can share this uh but here or not but i think let's
think is think this as a alpha today so the uh uh the interest rate uh for the mystery marble with the
stake is so high now uh to be honest okay so okay we we cannot we cannot uh estimate the uh the exact
number yet because we're not uh we haven't finished our airdrop event yet so we cannot decide how much
mystery marble will be the final numbers and then so we but we already announced that uh our um
marketing shares in the token economics so and then you can calculate you can estimate the uh the
expected value if and then um you know you guys can uh find out our total supply and then our uh marketing
shares and then so so if you you are good at mass some some of you guys can do the do some research

meaning that um now currently the apy or the yields for that is very very high so it's still time to
join and then also we're now working closely with a lot of kols and then if the kols coming in then
but now is the the the chance before more more people coming in if you join earlier then it's more
chance for you guys yeah that's something that i want to highlight no i i i appreciate that a lot
that's definitely a little bit of detective where it goes a long way i guess right um yeah especially
with the with the math um no for a lot of people that that don't understand that yeah that when
you're getting yield like this the less people the better and the longer you wait yeah the more people
the yield will dry up uh we used to uh funny enough during like the last bull market we used to find
farms and we tried not to tell yeah before they uh everybody would come in and then take all the
yield then we'd have to leave but yeah that was a crazy time so yeah this is very important alpha for
today yeah that's a that's a that's a big alpha that is i i appreciate that a lot but uh it just shows
that users of galaxy get the you know the the inside scoop the best way to explore and with that i just
want to appreciate everyone for taking the time to join um chris i want to say thank you to you as
well it's been super fun discussing all this about you um and everything going on at gombo i'm also
yeah i'm definitely keen to hear more um about gombo's take on uh casual games etc that that was
definitely an interesting area as well so i appreciate you taking the time to kind of divulge into that as
well um and my last question for you with that would be kind of is there just anything else you
wanted to share with us just to end off the day what can we expect um you know for the rest of the
year is there anything particularly exciting maybe in the latter half of the year that you could let us
know yeah sure um i feel like i could go on for over another three hours just discussing about this
plans and roadmap for today we have a lot of a lot of plans for this year and next quarter this quarter
so we have a lot of ambitious plans to expand gombo's ecosystem throughout the year the primary
goal is to establish diverse use case for thriving web street gaming ecosystem and aiming to deliver the
immersive gaming experiences so this could involve like launching multiple games and establishing dow
launching tokens and nfts and actively trading on like major exchanges and then in in the short term
the participate participant in the the gombo airdrop events will get the taste of what what the
ecosystem is going to offer so those who actively participate in our airdrop season one and two
