Chris, can you hear me?
Hey, sure.
Let's start the AMA today.
We have a lot of people in the house today.
So, good afternoon, good afternoon, good morning and good evening, everyone, wherever you are.
I hope everyone is doing great.
How are we doing today, Chris?
Yeah, I'm so good.
It's now 6 o'clock, it's now 6 o'clock p.m. here and I feel like I'm very excited to be here and then excited to like share a lot of things here and then discuss with you guys.
Yeah, we're very happy to have you guys here as well.
So, we have another exciting AMA today.
My name is Shin and I'm the Community Manager at the Arbitron Foundation.
Today, we're very happy to have Chris from Gumball Games to join us for the AMA.
So, why don't we start with a short introduction first, Chris.
Could you tell us a bit more about yourself and Gumball Games, please?
My name is Chris and I'm CBO of Gumball and overseeing the business sector at Gumball.
And before the starting Gumball, I used to work at Google for about 7 years, providing a lot of consultation services to over 500 gaming companies.
So far, and then previously, I have also experiences in establishing the mining companies in Kazakhstan and China, so conducting the Bitcoin mining operations.
And finally, I joined Gumball, a web3 journey from scratch.
So, the Gumball Games, Gumball is a casual game developer and it's a blockchain spin-off of 111%.
So, 111%, 111% is the name of casual game company, which is one of the biggest casual game developers in Korea and APAC, well-known for Random Dice Defense and Bibiton and Lucky Defense, etc.
So far, we launched more than 230 mobile casual games in the last nine years.
So, when you do the mess, it means that we launch one new game every other week.
So, we're very famous for fast development and then launch right away in Azure Culture.
So, we're now leveraging those track record and Azure Culture.
We aim to bring 2 billion real casual gamers into web3 by offering easy and familiar mobile casual game experiences.
So, most of our key developers and designers were directly transferred from our previous company.
And then, so, last but not least, we've attracted successful investment from Binance Labs, Spartan, Animoca, iOSG, Foresight, Shima, etc.
Yeah, that's it for myself and my company.
Nice. Well, one new game per week, that's a lot.
We all know how much it goes into developing a game.
So, kudos to you and the team for working so hard and delivering all these great games for the community.
Like you mentioned earlier, Chris, so a lot of teams come from one of the, I guess, one of the most largest casual game developing company in Korea.
So, what would you say is the vision and the mission you guys have for the web3 world?
Like we started the hour or the previous company 2015, early 2016 and late 2015.
And then, we had a lot of experiences on mobile casual market.
And then, we've seen a lot of movement in the web3 from 2021 mainly.
And then, we saw a lot of gaming, including X Infinity, as you all know.
And then, we found that any of those games, to be honest, not very fun.
So, because like our motto and then our vision is like always has been developing and releasing the fun core games.
But, none of the web3 games, to be honest, it's not very fun.
So, that's why we thought that why the game developers need to go to the web3.
We've been considering, contemplating that like for a long time.
And then, we set up the mission and vision with the three things.
So, our mission can be summarized in three key points.
The first one is onboarding fun and engaging web2 mobile games onto web3.
And so, like why this is, we aim to transition popular and enjoyable web2 mobile games into web3 spaces.
So, making them more accessible and appealing to the broader audience while leveraging the advantages of blockchain technology.
And then, psychological aspect as well.
Because when we develop the web2 mobile game, casual game, we're always thinking about users and people's psychological aspect.
And then, one of the key parts in that like gaming design, game designing is when people feel fun and people feel satisfied.
Then, one of the key parts is the frequent feedback.
So, in web2, also, we can design a lot of like frequent and then proper feedback on the games.
But with the web3, there's a lot of more attractive ways to provide the instant and then proper feedback to the users, such as like with the tokens or NFTs.
So, that's why we thought that based on the already fun games, we can add on more fun element on top of it with the web3 elements.
So, that's why our first mission is like engaging, like bringing fun web2 games into web3.
And then, second one is like creating web3 protocol that rewards engagement and contribution in gaming, as opposed to like traditional gaming platforms.
So, our focus is on developing a decentralized protocol that incentivizes and rewards players for their engagement and contributions.
This approach contrasts with the traditional gaming platforms, offering more benefits to all contributors in the community by their diverse contributions, measuring that like everyone can contribute.
Like, you know, in web2, we have been, we've seen a lot of like voluntary fan groups from all around the world, but they didn't get any rewards, but they're voluntarily supporting us.
So, they created a lot of videos and a lot of fan letters, but in web3, we want to just reward them with the token.
So, in web3, it's very easy and then it's fair to say they're providing a lot of contribution to the ecosystem.
So, it's fair to say we provide them with some rewards.
In web3, it's easy.
So, that's the vision number one.
The final vision number three is gamify everything across web3, including even DeFi.
So, we envision, we envision a future where gaming elements are integrated into various aspects of web3, including, you know, DeFi.
By incorporating gamification, we aim to enhance all user experiences and drive greater participation in the web3 ecosystem.
Yeah, so, we had, we had a lot of things in mind, but I try to summarize them into just three things.
I think all those three visions are definitely very great and important, whether it's, like, gamify everything across web3 or to bring fun web2 games to web3 users.
They all ultimately really lead to more users using, transferring from, like, the web2 world to web3 world and using the Arbitrum or, like, the Gumbo ecosystem, which is great.
But, but, speaking of that, just curious about what type of, because you mentioned just now, Chris, right, you guys do a new game, like, every week, launch a new game every week almost.
But, what are some of the products that the Gumbo team has been currently building right now?
Yeah, so, now in web3, we're experimenting with various approaches.
So, as I mentioned earlier, we will continue to explore the best method to bring 2 billion web2 casual gamers into web3, like, this space, while also creating engaging games that, like, web3 native users can enjoy as well.
So, there are two different paths.
Although, those two paths' goals might currently seem a little bit different, but we believe that they will eventually converge, eliminating any boundaries later.
So, first one, like, the web2 games.
Among 230 games we've launched so far, and the one currently live as well, we plan to release some of them on web3 soon, continuously driving the influx of existing gamers from web2.
And we'll also be remaking some of our highly popular web2 games for release on web3.
So, one of the games coming out this month has shown excellent performance in web2 before.
So, we're very excited about that.
So, that's our path one.
And another path is, like, in addition to this, we're designing games that web3 savvy users can easily enjoy and have fun.
So, we're offering immediate financial feedback.
I mentioned already that feedback is very important in designing the games and incorporating game-like randomness and the fun and a lot of gaming elements on that game.
So, that's path number two.
So, like, Gumball is excelling in formulating this hypothesis and quickly creating products and testing them in the market.
So, we'll use this approach to build a successful casual game protocol in web3.
So, like, we need to definitely discuss about Treasure Hunt.
We launched recently.
So, that's, like, in the, like, leather part, the second path.
So, I really look forward to how, to Gumball Games turning all your popular web2 games to the web2, web3 version of that.
So, yeah, really excited for that.
And as you mentioned just now, Treasure Hunt, can you tell us more about that?
How does it work?
What is it?
Yeah, sure.
So, Treasure Hunt is a fast-paced and then high-stake puzzle game, I'll say, which combines strategy, speed, and excitement of blockchain technology, I think.
So, you can play on 15x15 or 20x20-greed tiles.
This game challenges players to flip tiles in search of hidden rewards, chest, and the ultimate prize, which is treasure chest.
It's very easy.
So easy-peasy.
You can just flip the tile.
That's it.
But you just need to use your gold and then strategically select a tile, which you need, you want to flip.
And then you can flip at most five tiles at once.
So, you need to carefully just choose your, your tiles.
And it's a very speed, speedy game.
So, if even you just choose some tiles, you want to, like, flip, but if others take that tiles more fast or faster than you, and then just make the transaction before you make the transaction, then they will take that tile.
So, it's a very speedy game.
You should be very strategic at the same time very fast.
So, there are some game elements on that.
So, there can be also, so, and in any tiles, there can be some treasures in your tiles.
There are three rewards you can expect from the tiles.
First one, most important thing is treasure chest.
The final in-game prize that, like, contains all the gold points spent in the particular round.
So, many other people, they flip the tiles and there's nothing.
So, the gold they invested is flowing into the treasure chest.
So, the final winner, we get them all.
So, like, also, like, also, plus any rollovers from the previous round are also flowing into that chest.
So, so, treasure chest is very important.
But there's not only treasure chest, but also other rewards as well, which is lucky draw tickets.
So, in one round, there are several lucky draw tickets in the, in the tile as well.
Lucky draw tickets are hidden on the map by Gombu team.
And these can be claimed through our web portal for a chance to win the G capsule with the lucky draws.
So, there are gold, shareable, and bronze, and iron G capsules.
And it can be claimed for our G token at TGE.
So, with the lucky draw ticket, you have chance to win the G capsule.
And G capsule will be claimed for the G token later.
So, it's very also some, a lot of feedback there.
Also, the last but not list, our NFT Space Keys Wild List, you can get it from this game.
So, Space Keys Genesis Collection Wild List, available as boosted rewards until August 10th.
So, the treasure hunt has two reader votes, both of which will be rewarding the top performance with that, like, NFT Wild List.
So, why don't you just visit Gombu.io to dive in and explore your, the chest and the tickets.
Oh, that's really nice.
Yeah, guys, remember to visit Gombu.io to try out their games and also to follow them on Twitter.
You can see them also in this space.
They have the gold tick right next to their name.
So, make sure to give them a follow.
But, yeah, Chris, speaking of which, so, you mentioned about how, like, the treasure chest, like, the winner takes it all.
So, for any users that want to, let's say, become the winner, how do they boost their treasure hunt journey through, like, different items such as Captain Wills and LDTs?
Can you maybe share more with us about some of these?
Yeah, sure.
So, there's a lot of other outgame components, like, outgame meaning there's a core game loop, and then the other contents are the outgame contents.
So, Captain's Will is one of the most important outgame components.
So, with the Captain's Will, it's a roulette, which gives you a chance to win rewards daily, and then it offers various bonuses, including batteries for the use in lucky draws.
So, also, retry tickets, which give you another chance to draw the lucky draw.
And also, mysterious space dust, adding an element of surprise and mystery.
So, with the Captain's Will, there are a lot of things, like, batteries, retry tickets, and lucky draw, and mystery space dust.
So, every day, you can just freely spin the Captain's Will.
And then, every time you flip the tile with the gold, you will have one new spinning chance in the Captain's Will.
And also, there are a referral system.
So, if you refer others, other users, your friends, and then if your referred friends, like, flip the tile, then each attempt will count one new Captain's Will chance.
So, you will have another Captain's Will chance whenever your friends enjoy the games.
So, there is a lot of chance to have more attempts to the Captain's Will, and there are a lot of chance to get another content from it.
And also, LDT, I already explained a little bit.
So, there are exciting chance to win the LDT, a lucky draw ticket.
So, we plan to allocate a significant number of LDT to the Captain's Will.
So, don't miss the chance to get the lucky draw ticket.
So, and also, you know, Captain's Will recharges every 24 hours.
So, but, yeah, but, like, seeing is better than, like, my explanation.
So, just visit there, and it's very easy-peasy, so just try out.
That's better than my explanation, for sure.
Yeah, for sure, guys.
Make sure to give it a try.
And you say that Captain's Will renews every 24 hours, right?
So, then, every 24 hours, there's a chance for our users to win something.
Yeah, and also, you will have more chances to spin the wheel if your referred friends play the game,
or you flip the tiles, and you will get more chances to spin.
Nice, nice.
So, Chris, another question for you is that, so why did the Gumball team choose to launch on Arbitrum,
choose to launch Treasure Hunt, particularly on Arbitrum, out of all the gaming ecosystems out there?
Yeah, we've been thinking of this agenda for a long time.
To, like, to be more, to be honest, like, in our previous Arbitrum event,
we've done some experiment in other main nets, and then, I don't want to blame them.
It was successful as well.
But we want to just expand our ecosystem, and also, we want to just meet other ecosystem users as well,
because we believe that each ecosystem has a different user base.
So, for example, we thought that, in Arbitrum ecosystem, it has a large number of active users in Web3.
It's true, I think.
So, more specifically, it aligns with our potential user base we are targeting for our Web3 gaming game directions,
which consists of users already familiar with various Web3 products, like DeFi or other Web3 products.
So, we decided Arbitrum for this game launch is, you know, there are a lot of Web3 savvy users here who are familiar with DeFi.
Also, because it's a little bit different, but we're a gaming project, but we want to gamify everything, including DeFi as well.
So, that's why we think that this is the perfect ecosystem we can work with.
And also, Web3 games we envision are not very different in their fun element compared to Web2 games.
Typically, when playing games, there should be a special goal, challenges, and sense of achievement,
and with feedback provided at the appropriate intervals to make the game enjoyable.
So, Treasure Hunt, although it's very simple, but it has a strategic element,
and it allows anyone to easily participate with the, you know, anticipation of rewards such as gold, wireless spot, tokens.
So, from this perspective, we designed the game to offer attractive feedback through opportunity to earn tokens and NFTs via with the competition.
So, we want to find potential user base who would find this most appealing and then enjoyable.
So, we thought that Arbitrum user base, ecosystem users was the best fit with that.
So, after we launched this game a week ago, more than a week ago, we've already listened to you guys' feedback, your feedback,
and we're preparing for an update version soon.
So, with this upcoming update, we'll address some of the small inconveniences and also provide even more enjoyable experiences.
So, stay tuned.
So, we'd love to get more feedback from you guys.
We're going to provide more enjoyable content going forward.
So, we're listening to your feedback because this is all the stage.
So, we're ready to change everything to make the better games.
So, your feedback is always welcomed.
Nice, nice.
And it's also nice that you guys take feedback and, you know, improve the product based on community suggestions.
So, I think that's great.
And I hope you guys are enjoying so far in the Arbitrum ecosystem.
And, Chris, so, just wanted to go back to something you mentioned earlier.
So, you mentioned about one of the NFT collections that the Gumball Games team has launched called the Space Kids.
We didn't really go that much deep into it just now.
Can you maybe tell us more about this collection and how users can maybe obtain it?
Yeah, so, NFT collections here is very important for Gumball's long-term ecosystem building.
So, we have two NFT collections.
One is OG Spaceship.
Another one is Space Keys NFT.
So, OG Spaceship is only 100 pieces.
So, 100 pieces only.
So, it's a kind of most important player in Gumball's ecosystem.
So, we're doing the auctions for this OG Spaceship now.
So, all raised token and raised money by this auction will be 100% going into our DAO ecosystem.
So, the auction participant, their contribution will play a key role in building our early stage of Gumball's DAO.
And then, so, the OG Spaceship is like auction-based, like the DAO contributor.
And then, Space Keys is similar but a little bit different.
Space Keys is free mint NFT, total 5,555 units.
So, over the past six months, we have promoted Space Keys NFTs as one of the important part of Gumball's DAO and provided a lot of opportunities to earn wide list.
But we're grateful for your interest.
And finally, the wait is almost over.
Space Keys are coming soon as well.
You might get them sooner than you think.
But there are still ways to get your Space Keys.
First, there is a way on our Discord channel.
The more activities you engage in there, the more points you accumulate.
And then, you can enter the weekly NFT wide list raffles with that point.
So, like there are a lot of ways, like participating in some games and making a Twitter suite thread and making a Gumball ID avatar.
I could see some listeners here with the Gumball avatar in their profile pictures.
Thank you for that.
So, there are a lot of ways to get your first Space Keys NFT wide list.
So, just join that.
And then, so, our Space Keys, like 5,555, will have the voting rights in our DAO.
So, in Gumball DAO, they have a lot of rights to decide, rights to like build our, the community together.
So, every time we have something, they have a voting rights and then buy their contribution and voting and then proposing everything.
So, we're going to reverse that with our DAO treasury.
So, the Space Keys has a lot of rights and then contribution part.
So, don't miss that chance.
So, I hope you become one of the lucky winners.
And then, also, the another way you can get the wide list is from our treasure hunt.
So, in our treasure hunt, there's a referral system.
So, there is a leader vote for the referral system.
So, high rankers will get the wide list as well.
So, also, the last chance you can get the, our Space Keys wide list is from our next game.
So, we recently launched the treasure hunt and we're now doing the auctions.
But soon, we're going to launch another game.
That's our speed, how we fastly develop the new game.
So, in our next game, there will be many opportunities to earn the NFT wide list in that game as well.
So, stay tuned.
But for this week, just focus, let's focus on the treasure hunt.
So, just to summarize what you say.
So, SpaceKid gives user voting rights.
And then, the OG Space Auction, on the other hand, the profit from the auction would go inside the treasury, where the SpaceKid holder gets to vote and decide the use of those profit, right?
Is that how it works?
Sounds great.
And let me add on a little bit more.
And OG SpaceShift holder will have three, five SpaceKids NFT as well.
So, they have five voting rights and plus a lot of, like, airdrop tokens.
So, speaking of OG Space Auction, though, I do see it on the Gumball Games Twitter pin post.
So, if anyone's interested, you can just click inside their profile to learn more about that.
But also, just wanted, maybe, like, can you explain more to us, Chris, about what, like, the exactly what OG Space Auction is?
And tell, and let us know how, like, the users can participate in it, how they can win the auctions.
So, we just started this auction.
So, we're very excited.
So, as I mentioned earlier, there are exactly 100 OG Spaceship, and then they will play a critical role in Gombo DAO moving forward.
It indicates high contribution potential and significant rewards for the participant.
So, current auction is our second round with 20 OG Spaceship offer graphs.
And then, so, top 20 bidders will win the NFT.
So, and then auction started approximately, like, 28 hours ago, I believe.
And then, now, 20, 32 hours remaining.
So, currently, top bid stands at around 2 Ethereum, and with the flow price around 1.5 Ethereum.
So, expect it to rise higher further.
So, like, it's chance to participate now.
So, as for the rewards for this, each OG Spaceship will initially come with, you know, as I mentioned, five Space Keys NFT plus also G-Token airdrops.
Because, as I mentioned earlier, the auction amount will go to our, the DAO treasury.
So, it's their contribution, they're playing a critical role in boosting the ecosystem earlier, contributing to the Gombo DAO.
So, there will be a substantial G-Token airdrop planned for those OG Spaceship winners.
So, that's the brief intro of this auction.
So, we still have 32 hours.
And then, there are 20 OG Spaceship for this auction.
So, we did the first round of OG Spaceship auction a month ago, and then it was, like, 10 units.
So, now, it's more chances.
So, we have 20 units for this auction.
Nice, nice.
So, since this is the second round, right, I'm just curious, how did the first round go?
So, first round was, like, very great success with over 570K U.S. dollar value raised, totaling, like, 1011 BNB from 10 auction winners.
So, our 10 first round auction winners will receive 4.55 million G-Token.
It's about 0.5% of total token supply.
It's a huge allocation because the auction funds our DAO treasure, as I mentioned.
So, the GOMBO DAO is a mission-critical ecosystem component where the community attention and support matter.
So, this allocation rewards winners for being a first contribution to the DAO.
And then, auction winners, early support is very important for our growth and sustainability.
So, I'll say it's now your turn to become early contributor to the GOMBO.
And let me tell you a little bit more, another exciting aspect on this auction.
So, it's only 20 units.
So, you might be very, like, cautious about, like, it's hard to get the 20 slot, any of 20 slots.
So, even if you don't make it into the top 20 final winners, there are also great rewards just for participating in bidding.
And the auction participant will receive auction participant badge NFTs.
It will be converted to G-Tokens at TGE as well.
So, badges are available for 1 bid, 5 bid, 10 bid, and also 50 bid.
So, additionally, a certain amount of gold for the treasure hunt will be airdropped for each auction bid.
So, there are two additional rewards only by participating in the auction.
So, like, at least you participate in the auction, you will get the participant badges equivalent to our G-Token, also the gold for the treasure hunt.
So, now is the cheapest time to participate, get your participant badge, and for sure, if your Bs fall out of the top 20, it will be automatically refunded to your wallet.
So, yeah, it's still, there are a lot of chances, and our first round went well.
And then, I cannot disclose the exact amount of G-Tokens airdropping for this round, but you can just benchmark and refer to the first round, how we think very seriously about this OG space supporters.
Nice. Congrats on the success of the first round, of course, and hope the second round goes well as well.
And if anyone wants to learn more about the second round of the OG space auction, feel free to just go inside Gumball's Twitter, and you can find more information in their pinned post.
So, yeah, today, last but not least, before we wrap up, I actually want to ask you, Chris, so, maybe can you tell us more about what users can do in the Gumball ecosystem?
Is there any future plans that you can share with us today?
Anything you want to share with our audience, feel free to say it right now.
Yeah, so, you know, like, I emphasize that Gumball, we're developing a lot of games, and we have a lot of games in line.
So, please remember that Gumball isn't just a game studio launching one or two games.
We're building, you know, participatory, like, protocol that allows gamers and even game developers globally to easily access Web3.
So, many gaming companies in Web2 now struggling, they're struggling with profitability due to the platform fees and intense competitions.
Often, they're prioritizing revenue over the intrinsic fun of the games.
So, like, you know, from leveraging our nine years of experiences, we believe that we can find a solution in Web3 and create a community-driven protocol with the Web3.
So, our G-Token will play a key role in that protocol.
So, all of those games onboarding our protocol will use our G-Token, and then all the contributions from the community and you guys will be rewarded by our G-Token.
So, G-Token is very important in our ecosystem.
So, our goal is to empower game developers to seamlessly transit their games to Web3 and conduct the marketing and distribution through a community-centric approach rather than traditional platforms.
So, essential to all these processes is our G-Token.
So, by next year, we're planning to onboard over 100 games, including our own games and third-party titles as well, onto our ecosystem.
So, G-Token will be integral across all these games, rewarding users who participate, contribute to this.
So, what I'll say, what sets us apart from others is our commitment to testing our ecosystem with our own games first, with over 230 games, and then currently generating, like, 40 million downloads monthly from our umbrella.
So, we aim to validate our ecosystem and onboard other developers soon with our hypothesis.
So, if you're excited about our vision, join us now.
It's a perfect time to get involved.
So, yeah, and then also, please follow our Twitter and then Discord because we're going to launch and then announce a lot of games more and more, over and over.
So, I don't want you to just miss out the opportunity.
So, please just, like, participate in our community and enjoy our treasure hunt and participate in our OG Spaceship Auction.
That's the first step.
And then maybe next week and then the other, the next week, we're going to launch and then we're going to announce another fun things.
Nice, nice.
I think we pretty much covered everything today.
But, yeah, guys, like what Chris said, make sure to give Chris and Gumball Games Twitter a follow and also join their Discord, check out their games.
And really appreciate that you guys have been building and shipping for the Arbitrum ecosystem and for the whole, like, gaming community.
But, yeah, so happy to have you here with us today, Chris.
I think that's it for today.
Yeah, thank you so much for having me here.
I'm very much looking forward to, like, playing more with Arbitrum ecosystem here.
Thank you so much.
Thank you, guys.
