Music Thank you. Thank you. what's up homies happy wednesday it's been a long week we didn't have our uh friday smoke sesh
it was the 4th of July.
It's hard to get back in the swing of things.
I feel like I'm still on vacation.
How about you, Pablo?
Did you have a great 4th of July?
Do you still feel like you're on vacay?
Let's go, homies.
What's up, Lauren?
Yes, it's been a long time since I feel like I can be in the...
I'm going to tell you right now, homies, not in the complete spaces mode.
I don't have Flip Hottle Pass for you today,
but we do have some great stories of 4th of July and the past week and a half or so.
I'm sitting looking over the Munising Bay in Lake Superior,
which is on the top of the Upper Peninsula.
So I do feel like I'm still on vacation, Lauren.
How was your 4th of July?
It was great.
I did nothing.
I hung out in a pool most of the day, basically.
And just, yeah, hung out.
And then had to be home with my friend because they're dogs.
You know, the dog barks and it's crazy.
And people were popping off.
And thankfully this year, it seems like they had it under control because there wasn't a lot of people letting off fireworks past one o'clock in the morning.
one o'clock in the morning. And we had police driving around in our neighborhood because
everybody likes to let off fireworks. And we thought for sure people were going to get in
trouble. No, they were just patrolling through the neighborhood with the fireworks. It's the
first time I'd ever seen that happen. So yeah, it was very fun, adventurous. And then just hanging
out. It got really hot. So when it gets over 100 degrees, I tend to just stay inside and try to keep cool.
How was your holiday? Did you get to see some fireworks?
Over the backdrop of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.
With the Mississippi River.
Right there too.
So it was quite the experience in a big park.
Called Boom Island.
So it was definitely name checked out.
Lots of booms going on.
There was some spectator fireworks as well.
Of course legal fireworks in a lot of states.
Now here in the United States of America.
So yeah. It was a good holiday, July 4th.
I was in competition that day as well in the World Championship of Disc Golf held by the PDGA in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Super fun.
You're talking to the 107th best disc golfer in the world.
So yeah, it's pretty fun, pretty cool.
You have to be invited to the tournament.
You have to qualify and stuff.
So super cool people meeting different people from all over the world.
And all the states were represented.
And I was in line for check-in next to one of the most famous disc golfers shot in history.
He made an incredible shot from way out into the basket to tie
and then go on to a playoff to win a championship.
So it was pretty cool.
He was very, like, introduced himself first name only,
and then, like, 10 minutes into the conversation, I was like, okay,
who's your son? You know? And he told me,
and they're showing us pictures of him and his family as they're just hanging
out at their land.
And they have like places for like people to come on stage and do like folk
music. This is an experience you don't get everywhere for sure.
So it was absolutely incredible week with the competition
and the views from these courses are absolutely incredible some of them are very iconic through
the sport as well so i had an excellent time uh you know expectations for yourself and competition
are sometimes a little bit higher than you can achieve, which I think is good. I think people
in sports always are pushing yourselves. If you're not pushing yourself in your field,
whether it's sports or work or your hobby, that's cool. Do your thing. But what are we doing it for?
Do we want to see the enjoyment of just doing it? That's great. If you're looking to see how
good can I get at it, how much enjoyment can I get out of something depends on each person. So, um, for me, it's,
you know, where, where do I stand necessarily at this time? And am I still having fun while
I'm doing it? So there's definitely a line, you know, how much competition versus how
much fun you're having. So, um, absolutely great. Looking forward to states coming up so uh yeah the adventure continues i'm
driving back to home base here across the united uh the upper peninsula michigan which is like its
own quote-unquote state of its own so really untouched as far as like development and uh
housing businesses and stuff like that it's pretty pretty raw nature. It's really cool.
Pictured rocks are right here,
like off to my right.
So that's a national lakeshore.
Lots of tourists around as well.
I count myself as one, I guess.
That's really exciting.
Definitely sounds like a lot of fun.
Do you do like competitions often? Is this the first time you entered into a lot of fun. Do you do competitions often?
Is this the first time you entered into a competition?
The first one of this caliber, it's called a major tournament.
I've played in A tier tournaments, B tier tournaments, C tier tournaments,
A being the highest until I just played in this major tournament,
which is four days of competition.
If you make the cut,
there's a percentage of players and scores that they take on to a fifth day
of competition.
So I only had the four days of competition this time around,
but there's still lots of fun.
Got to smoke with some guys from California and Kentucky.
Met some guys from Indiana, North Carolina.
So yeah, it was quite the blast.
Got to go to dispensaries.
Check them out a little bit.
Nothing too crazy.
There's nothing in Minnesota really except for on the tribal land right now.
Which if I was Minnesota and I voted for this,
it's taken them...
They're saying maybe August
they'll start having retail locations.
That's two years after they approved it.
So, man, I hope they get their stuff together
going there from Minnesota.
So it's not legal at all in Minnesota?
It's only legal on the reservation?
It's the only place that I could find that is a retail location.
It's legal, but they just haven't got the retail locations open,
whether or not that's due to legislation dragging its feet or whatever.
I don't know.
That's interesting.
I'm going to be in Minneapolis next month. At the end of the month, I'm going to
a concert. Crazy. Um, my brother and I, I'm so glad though. Cause like we go to Deftones concerts
all the time and we just went to one earlier this year and they, the tickets went up for sale and
they're going to be, um, they're going to be traveling and touring with Fantogram, which is like another really cool band.
And then I think like a week ago, they started teasing that they're coming out with a new album release.
So I think that I'll be in Minneapolis at the Target Center getting to hear some new tracks from their new album release. And then I'm going to try to
make it out to the Minneapolis state fair. Cause I've heard that that's been a really, um, fun
place to visit. Like I have a lot of friends that go to Minneapolis. I love Minneapolis. I've been
there so many times. I used to work with a company that was based out of Minneapolis and we would go
every single year, but it was always in October. Like when the leaves were
changing, it's so pretty up there. Um, I love it. How did you like it? Other than the fact that you
couldn't find any retail for smoke, how did you like, how did you like Minneapolis? And did you
think, cause I haven't been there since 2018. Do you think that they have like Web3 tech type of communities out there?
Like, you know, when you go to L.A. or you go to New York, obviously they have like the NFT NYC, NFT L.A.
Did you see like visually, you know, any like Web3 or crypto style art or people maybe?
Good question. art or people maybe good question first of all minneapolis is very nice this section that i stayed in it was like lowry hill like kind of east southeast lower you know lower
east side uh it was it was real nice i mean there was some real nice houses and land of lakes for sure there is lakes
all over the place like isle of the lakes i went and saw the giant pencil it's like in someone's
front yard and he shit and he like carves it the tip he like sharpens the tip every year and it's
like a big thing people come out and he like gives the shavings away to people and stuff
uh so anyway the world giant pencil is um you know you could definitely make a bigger pencil
is what i'm saying but anyway it's in his front yard and these yards are immaculately landscaped
i mean there's six bedrooms easy a lot of them so but a lot of them on this lower east side
or lowry hill it's called that minneapolis um multiple family homes now but man are they huge uh so yeah very cool coffee shops around
lots of little coffee shops really cool stuff um but record stores really in that kind of vein
i think i was over kind of in like the um lgbtq community area as well and minneapolis downtown not very far from like insomnia cookies which i
did find which are good i like them way better than crumble cookies and they had like uh flags
on the digital billboards down there during like near the minnesota target, it's called,
where they play their basketball,
and they had a WNBA playoff game there while I was there.
I didn't go to it, but yeah, it was in a different vibe.
So I wasn't really looking for the tech crypto stuff.
I definitely guarantee you it's there
just because of the different types of demographics
that I was running across in different parts of the city. So the one disc golf course was about 40 minutes north of my location and the other one was like
20 kind of west and south a little bit. So I was able to get a good part of the city and check out
all different stuff. There's a really nice art museum with a sculpture garden there you can walk
through. A really iconic one is a cherry on
a spoon and it's like a water feature it sprinkles out over everything it's really nice there's some
really cool stuff paths every very good public transportation clean streets uh yeah i was in a
i'm pretty sure i was in a real nice part of uh minneapolis but i will say i had a great time there i think you'll find uh it's
it's really welcoming people are really nice um you know so didn't have any any problems stayed
in a nice airbnb in a apartment building there so it was really centrally located for what i was
looking to do there so yeah good times as far as the tech stuff, I guarantee you it's there. I
just didn't really run into any of it. I was having this conversation with a friend of mine
the other day because I use chat GPT a lot. And I don't do it for, I do it for strange things. Like I do it now instead of Googling. And, um, we were like
talking about like, uh, cause I primarily use a lot of chat GPT for cooking and like cooking ideas
and like trying to get like exact calorie type stuff, whatever. So my friend and I were talking
about it and we were at, I was asking her, I was like,
do you recognize like when people are using AI now? Because I see it all the time. Like I,
it's weird. And one of the things that I brought up was when I went to that Wu Tang, um,
that Wu Tang, um, show here when they did the, they have like a, a little, um, I can't think
of the name. What do they call them? Oh, like they had like a run of shows here at the they did the, they have like a, a little, I can't think of the name, what do they
call them? Like they had like a run of shows here at the, at the Hard Rock and a residency. And so
we went to, I went to like the first one and I think I told you about this. They had AI images
that they created on the back screen. And the only reason why I could tell
that they were the AI images right away
was because a lot of the people in the crowd
had like six, seven fingers.
And at the time, we were still progressing
with like mid-journey and different like images
that we could create with AI.
And they didn't quite have like the, the hands down right
away. And so I think like a lot of us knew like, Oh yeah, they look creepy and they've got like,
you know, an extra finger that's totally AI. Um, but yeah, they had used those images and I
obviously was one of the only, probably one of the only people that recognized right away, like,
Oh, that looks like a mid journey. Like I know that
wasn't a real photo. Um, and she was telling me that, but, um, she has been starting to notice,
uh, like through content that she sees, like answers the way people answer. And she's like,
sometimes I think it's like bots answer. That's my favorite. Like there's a certain age group that's like primarily my age,
older, but everybody's bot related. It's the bots. It's the bots. It's the bots.
But it was so funny to kind of like make these comparisons. And now like going around and
navigating, I always almost think like, was that real image that was created? Did they, you know, take the time to pay somebody to make that new art?
It's really funny.
So like also billboards, right?
Like driving around Vegas, like seeing billboards and whatnot.
There was a lot of actually, surprisingly, there was a couple of Bitcoin billboards that
I saw around here.
People are still doing billboards here in Vegas.
But I'm always
trying to like, see like, who's going to be the first to do like a crypto punk or, you know,
pudgy penguins is the big thing. Like what's, you know, would target center advertise the pudgy
penguin, use a pudgy penguin to advertise, um, you know, like, and then like thinking like,
well, which one of these NFT groups is going to be a new mascot for a new baseball team of some sort?
So I'm always trying to keep my eyes out when I go to new places too.
But I'm excited to spend some time in Minneapolis and see how much has changed.
The Target Center is one of my favorite places to go.
I enjoy seeing concerts at the Target Center because everything is connected.
And I usually stay downtown and you can just like walk through all the buildings.
And it's a really cool place to be.
And like you were saying, Pablo, everybody is very nice.
I've had some people experiences, but I have to say that the nice people and the people who work in the
businesses outdo the negatives. Yeah, absolutely. Definitely just a welcoming, you know, I'm from
the Midwest, so I think it's well known. I reside most of, I mean, some of the time in Michigan. So yes,
I'm used to it a little bit per se. And then Texas, you know, I've been down there,
but you see it, you know, people definitely take notice when I'm in New York, right. And holding
a door open or thank you, you know, you're welcome and a smile and they're like, what the
hell's going on? Purple beard also kind of breaks down some barriers, but yeah, you're going to have a great time, Lauren. The weather was absolutely crazy.
It was like 90 something like that.
Oh yeah, it was pretty warm everywhere. We've just had some weird weather, I think too.
When I was in California, there apparently was like the storm of the century here
in Vegas. Light poles were falling down. There's like 60 mile per hour winds. I missed all of that.
Then they had like people, I think it like flooded a little bit here on my way back.
And then the stuff that happened with Texas, terrible flooding in Texas. There's been flooding in New Mexico.
The weather's just been crazy.
And then yesterday we had 109 degrees here in the valley.
I'm like, oh, it's going to be an interesting summer.
So I can't wait to get out, though, because I know.
Well, hopefully it's not 90 degrees in Minneapolis when I go.
But I've never been to the lakes.
Have you been to any of the lakes or any of,
I've only been to like basically downtown Minneapolis.
So I went around Lake of the Isles.
And so there's a few, it's a really nice road.
I'm not sure, you know, what your situation is,
if you're gonna be renting. I mean, if you're going to be renting.
I mean, if you're going to just be down at Target Center, you're like pretty centrally
located, like to everything, like you said, and it's all connected.
I love that.
You feel kind of like a little bit above kind of, you know, you're just like, you're physically
above everyone, but like walking through there and like, yeah, I'm going to my room, going
to the show, don't ever have
to go into the sidewalks or anything outside uh but yeah so i honestly couldn't tell you some of
the names of lakes but i will say i was talking to one of the guys from minnesota he's like yeah
we're land of thousand lakes he's like and only about a hundred names he's like you'll run into
like 200 mud lakes and like we have five blue lakes and like this and that.
So the ones that I was around when I had time when I was off of competition, Bryant Lake was actually the one at competition, which is absolutely gorgeous area and a park there.
And then the other park on Lake of the Isles, there's lots of recreation going on.
Paddle boats, sailboats, not so much jet skis, but like kayaking, canoeing, things like that.
Some water sports that don't involve the motors.
And then I'm currently on the largest Great Lakes, Lake Superior.
So, uh, very cold water, but it's been some amazing views.
Cause like I said, you you know some of these lakes
that are adjacent to the great lake have like zero houses on them or one house it's like i don't
you know see that in um suburban areas there was some like that in minnesota as well so it's nice
to see that you know just just nature doing its thing still and it's such a contrast too from i
was in new york right for nft nyc 2025 shout out tricky buddha what's up buddy um definitely great
time and what a contrast i'm going from there to the upper peninsula of michigan and around lake
michigan and down through wisconsin and upper minnesota so yeah super super crazy um I suggest you know always I'm just that person that's always
like trying to get some nature touching grass as we like to say around here so definitely
encourage you to get one of those if you just walk on Lake of the Isles uh Parkway you'll you'll
walk right past you know some lakes and some really cool houses too. It's nice architecture, excellent landscaping,
mix of new and old there too.
I found some fun content.
I just wanted to throw up there real quick.
I don't know if you guys
or if anybody has tried any of these silly caps, um, it's pretty funny up at the top.
You got Cheech and Chong both wearing these mushroom little hats, walking around with their
silly caps. Um, I saw this first on Instagram and I'm not a big person on comments. I usually,
I skimmed through comments real quick, but the comment
section in the Instagrams were so wholesome. Everybody was just super excited to continue to
see them. A lot of people were like, there's a lot of confusion going on in our world. And it's great
to see content like this that still makes you laugh and smile. So I decided to find it here on the X platform and share it with everybody
because it is really funny. We definitely, you know, Pablo and I definitely work in social media
and we definitely see a lot of different content. And I think it's so cool to see both Cheech and
Chong continuing to make video content and staying active and showing us that they're still around. And for those of you that haven't seen the movie,
their latest movie is actually out now and you can watch it streaming.
So I just wanted to throw that out there.
They're really funny.
It's just funny when you watch him walk and he almost loses the little cat when he's walking.
It's being genuine
too, right? And that's just being funny.
They know what's funny too, so I love it.
Yeah. I actually ran
into some eighths of Cheech and Chong's
bird in dispensary,
love machine,
and a couple other different ones. They're around
$30 an eighth, so
homies, if you've got a better price than that, let me know in the comments.
$30 an eighth.
That's in the very, very tip of the Upper Peninsula called Ironwood.
Where basically Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan meet.
Definitely caught my eye.
I was like, ooh, I know that.
So, yep. They made it, Ooh, I know that. So yep.
They made it all the way up to here.
So they're definitely up and around everywhere.
Saw some natural weed in its environment on hole four at Savannah dunes.
I was playing in competition too.
And I was, my, my, my, my disc had went close to it.
And so I'm looking for my disc and I found it and I'm like, okay.
And I didn't realize the furthest person from the goal from the basket in disc golf goes first after you throw, right?
And so it happened to be me at this interchange, but I had stumbled upon a plant that I've seen many, many times.
And I was like, there's no way this is going wild right here by like in this fairway I'm off to the
left I'm like no way I'm looking at it I'm like oh sure as hell it's weed and so I'm taking a
picture of it next thing you know I look up and they're all looking at me and I'm like hey yeah
did you guys see this they're like oh it's your shot I'm like oh shit so in a major tournament
here I'm trying to take a picture of we playing it it's so funny uh but they're they're relaxed
still you know this is uh you know division that has people that have been playing in disc golf for many years.
So it wasn't like they're, oh, dude, you've taken too much time to get to your lie and take your shot.
But they're like, what's going on?
And so as I take my shot, then they proceed to start taking their pictures of it.
So it was just funny.
It was like being able to see it in its natural environment.
So I think it's being able to see it in its natural environment so i think
uh it's always it's always fascinating to see that i hope homies you touched some grass this
weekend we do have kahoot going on friday and we also have on thursday which is tomorrow we have
scribble so be on the lookout in the discount for for the Scribble link. It does take you outside of the Discord to a safe page that we've been using for years in the Discord.
It's Scribble. It's a cross between Hangman and Pictionary.
Fun times. Usually Cat Curious, a good member of the Discord, has an AI-generated song list that goes along
as we just kind of sync up at the beginning.
Everybody's kind of listening to tunes, you know, drawing and laughing at everybody's
pictures of what's supposed to be a gorilla or a guitar.
So jump in at 3 p.m. Eastern.
That's 12 noon PST.
And then don't forget on Tuesdays, we'll be repping back up with the name that tune
I got hot off the
press the new Beeple
Beeple X post
it's actually really cool it looks like a crypto
punk that they put on top of a
robo dog's body.
gotta leave it to people.
He always comes up with the creative crypto art ideas.
he's still rocking his dailies,
which is really cool.
Something that was one of the first things that really started getting
mainstream's eye when that sold at Sotheby's. Was it South B how we want to say it but uh lots of money so also pump that fun
check it out homies looks like you may be able if you've been degenning in that casino
pump that fun is going to be giving back some tokens some token action. So take a look. See if you call high.
Check that out.
It's been kind of crazy with that pumped out fund.
First they got taken down.
Then they got put up.
Then they, you know, got told that they're ruining the crypto space.
And now they're coming in hot with an airdrop let's go i'm glad i at least bonded one coin out right i mean you kind of got to go through like those phases right in any kind
of project you got to go through the hype phase where everybody's like yeah then you got to go
through the like not so hype phase but then people are like no this isn't real and then you got to go through the like not so hype phase but then people are like no this isn't real
and then you got to go through the hype phase again it's just like it's the waves that go
and those of us that have been in the space we definitely know how those waves travel
dang right and speaking of waves who we got up here we got tricky buddha what's going on brother
it's tricky buddha from d5 space donkeys powered by weed on solana get yourself a bag of weed
or just hit me up with the dm i'll send you some how's it going lauren uncle pablo good to see you
empath and uh i keep hope you're all doing great today.
I got a meeting in a little bit, but I figured I'd pop in.
See how the homies are doing.
Get a little caught up with my smoky smoke.
I've been smoking this headbanger.
It's like a headband cross.
Oh, man, it feels like I'm wearing a goddamn hat.
I love it.
It's super bizarre, but it's so good.
Yeah, there's a sure banger around here somewhere.
I actually picked up some different strains.
Permanent marker is not a different strain for me, homies,
but it's one that I know that I have definitely promoted here.
Check out Sweet Junkie and permanent marker.
I love the taste and the effects.
Violet Fog, I haven't tried it yet, but it has that grape gasoline and Khalifa mints in it. it here check out sweet junkie and permanent marker i love the taste and the effects violet
fog i haven't tried it yet but it has that grape gasoline and khalifa mints in it the grape gasoline
i've spoke about before and that would be included in the apples and bananas strain so if you want
to check that out i highly recommend that and then super booth which is everyone's favorite the last
couple years and i have to be growing about four of those in the backyard so i'm looking forward
to get back to those what edibles you've been on right now, Tricky?
I like that super move, by the way.
As far as edibles, I've been making my own.
So I got some pretty good extracts that are like,
if they're higher in terps, like over 10%, I'll smoke it.
But if it's like 4%, 5%, then I'll make a good edible out of it.
Just take a whole gram and put it in a little bit of oil and then make a whole batch of brownies with like a gram.
Actually, the other day, I made a whole batch of Rice Krispie Treats with a gram.
And I ate like the whole thing.
It was so good.
But yeah, that was a quick gram.
Totally worth it.
Like 750 milligrams of THC with with some other cannabinoids.
It was definitely a good buzz.
I have a high tolerance for edibles.
But I did get to try that bubble gum, finally, from Homegrown.
I was disappointed I couldn't get more stuff.
Yeah, same.
I definitely enjoyed that strawberry lemonade at the event there.
It was very tasty and effective.
For those of you listening on the recording,
and you need to replay and rewind what Tricky just said
as far as his terpene count for what he turns into an edible nut,
yes, yes, this is the first world problem.
If you run into Terps at four to six that you're throwing in the edibles.
Right, because that's what we want to smoke.
So that's what comes out in the popular extracts, right?
But yeah, it gets that spiciness if it's got too much Terps.
You want it there for the high, but yeah,
anything over like
five starts to creep up on you and the spices i'm like allergic to everything green so like that's
when those allergies start to really like come out i started to notice yep it's definitely green
all right yeah just wanted to clarify for those that you know may not even see anything that high in terpene content so uh just wanted to
you know say yes homies okay it's okay i have a 15 percenter of turps
it's concentrate but like i mean that's wild yeah it's so beautiful i feel like it doesn't get you
as high just because so much turps in it you know what i mean but it's a good buzz though it's very unique i got some valley delight here
let's go speaking of unique don't forget homies we have 10
thousand 420 pieces of unique nfts my home is by teaching chong main artist jermaine
NFTs my home to teach and Chong main artist Jermaine Rogers in the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame always for doing this posters check my 16 one of ones in the
collection of cold they're on aetherium and you can definitely check those out
and open see looks rare multiple XY if that's still so many different platforms up and down open C
has converted over permanently to its version 2 so if you are not familiar
with that or you haven't seen that make sure you get over there and familiarize
yourself with the options in the way that it looks because it is a different
UI slash UX like Windows versus Apple you know like at first everything seems backwards but
it's not that complicated it just takes a little getting used to it didn't like it at first didn't
like it at all but now that i've been forced to use it it's all right there's no problems with it
the photo quality isn't there like uh i um occasionally like i have a whole file of our airdrop posters and there's one that I,
for some reason I don't have uploaded. And I went to OpenSea and I hadn't been there for a while
to just screen grab or whatever, take, to take the photo off of there.
And it's like super yellow. Like the photo doesn't have, it's not the same color quality, which I think is great.
Because obviously, why am I taking the photo off of OpenSea to use, right?
Like that's not what we're supposed to do.
And like I said, I have all of the files.
I just didn't have this one on hand.
And so I'm like, this is what I get.
And I think it's great though, because trying to screen grab that photo and I'm like, this is what I get. And I think it's great, though, because trying to screen grab that photo and I was like, whoa, this is not what normally would look like. And then I realized, oh, the upgrade must like show you the photo in a different like photo, whatever, like folk, not focus filter. It almost looks like there's like a filter on top
of it. So I thought that was actually really cool because, you know, a lot of the times back
when we first started, people would say, and they still probably say, well, can't you just
screenshot it and use it? Nope. Actually you really can't as much anymore. And the more we
progress and the more people start to understand the difference between what digital art is and physical art and there's a value to it.
I think there might be more websites that do, you know, kind of discolor some of the images.
So that way people try to copy them.
They won't be what the actual real image is.
You can right click save my PFPs all you want.
And you're not going to get any utility. And you're basically just marketing for me.
But you're allowed to do it.
Yeah, I'll give you guys rights to this.
I'm going to have to check, Lauren.
Log in and see which posters.
If I can see them clearly for me.
Versus just not logged in.
Or not owning it.
And then see if it affects it or not.
I like that option, honestly.
If it's blurring it for anybody trying to screen capture it or put a filter on it, I like that too.
It's a good progression for what we're doing.
We're collectors, right?
And also considering, you know, OpenSea paid the royalties at first and then pulled the royalties which was
very much not a fun experience for a lot of artists and a lot of projects that you know
work with artists so yeah hopefully you know maybe other people will catch on or maybe it could just
be that image i don't know but i definitely was like something's different and then the back like
the the it's all black.
Is it, does it appear black to you, Pablo?
Yes, definitely.
Black down.
Which I don't, I don't know if I like,
I don't know if I like the having the black background.
Yeah, I think it just depends on the art.
I mean, some different stuff looks better on it.
But yeah, I agree.
I like a dark feature on an app or a screen for sure,
but I'm not sure either.
I see what you're saying there.
so lauren question um i believe you did mention it but the band you're going to see
the deftones
yeah deftones so how many times will this be that you've seen them and are you looking for
them to play any specific songs like you're like yeah this is my jam i can't even tell you how many
times i've seen them uh this has been like i want to say probably the first time i saw them when i
was like my mid-20s which is like mid-2000, I would say, because I wasn't going to a lot of concerts when I was younger because it was expensive.
And I had moved away from home at 23 and like paying for concerts.
And I first of all, I wasn't buying merch either.
merch either. It was a while to where I luxurially purchased merchandise. So like getting to that
It was a while to I luxuriously purchased merchandise.
level of concert going has always been like something that I've wanted to attain. And now
my family and I, we do VIP. We do like, like I go to Minneapolis a lot for concerts because I enjoy
the Target arena. I prefer going to concerts in hockey, basketball arenas versus stadiums.
When it comes to the music, a lot of the bands that were around in the 90s,
it's really purely just being like a fan and a proud fan to know that their music still is, is everlasting and speaks to young
people because ultimately like the music, I love it. And then the lyrics, there's like kind of a
message behind it too. Right. Um, and then seeing like younger people enjoying the music, but very
differently than how it was when I was younger going to these concerts. Like the last Deftones concert I went to
wasn't as wild as I expected it to be. Like I thought there would be more like people interacting,
like pushing and shoving like it was before. But I kind of feel like the crowds are just not as
aggressive as they used to be. So certain songs they stopped playing.
So they didn't play a lot of their songs off of their first and second album because it was too
hardcore, especially their first album. It was very much a different, I think they were calling
it, trying to call it new metal music. So it was a very much shift in the way people were listening to music and the sound. And now that like the younger,
younger fans and people who are discovering their music for the first time,
they go back to that original album because they're like, Oh,
it's so much more hardcore than their newer stuff.
So now they're starting to play a lot of those old school songs, which,
which, which I absolutely love because they,
they went through a whole eight year hiatus where we didn't hear some of
those songs off of the first album. So it's cool.
And then a bonus is like I said,
they're coming up with a new album and this is the,
this is the part where you get kind of like, Oh,
it's just age and time.
You want to support the band from the beginning as, especially when you're young, because they're like grassroots,
they're garage bands, they're starting out with no fan base. And then there's the question,
are they going to sign to a label? And if they sign to a label, are they going to sell out?
How are their concerts going to change? How is the fan, how are they going to interact with their fans? And specifically with the Deftones,
they, um, there was an accident. They had a bus accident while they were on tour and one of their
bandmates was in a coma. So they brought in a different bass player from another band,
which his name is Sergio Vega, which we've actually met through the
Web3 world and Mumbot. He also has created some music NFTs and got involved in Web3, which was
really cool. They brought him in as a replacement. And he's an amazing, amazing artist, has a very
different type of style. He played on two albums and helped create some of the music
on some of their latest albums. And he was just in as a filler. And time came, and this was the
hardest part as a fan, because this is the reality of it. Times change, and the band revisited the
rights and the royalties. And, um, because this bassist
wasn't a part of the original band and he came in to step in for the guy that eventually passed
away from his coma. I think he was in a coma for six years. Um, uh, when they, when they finally
redid the contract, they didn't write him in as a band member. And that was really hard to take as a fan
because, you know, you're like, wait, I thought it was to support the artists. So that was kind of
when the shift of the deftones changed a little bit. And I still support, you know, but times
change, the industry changes. He eventually departed from the band. It was a quick departure
and then they replaced him. And then all of a sudden the Deftones blew up and it was because
of festivals. They started their own festival in San Diego that they do every year. And in addition
to that, they started doing more festivals. And I think that festival exposure got them like a lot more eyes
on them so like that the guy who was the bassist who's no longer the bassist it was kind of like
if you didn't know then you don't really know the story now because they're so big again like they
just they a lot of these 90s bands are huge so when you go to the concerts and you're like so
into the music and you love it and then you see younger people enjoying it, you're like, Oh my gosh, this is,
it's timeless. And like another example is Ozzy, like the Ozzy Osbourne concert they just had,
I think it was in Birmingham. Um, or yeah, Manchester, they had it and they had all
different bands coming in and singing different songs it was
just like a huge celebration and there was a lot of people crying and having like their
you know their favorite band is no longer going to tour so then you know the collectors are like
everything I own is going to go up in price because, you know, no more Ozzy. So it's fun being a fan,
but after a while, it's becoming a fan. You just are supporting the other fan base too,
because you want everybody to enjoy the experience like it was when they first came out.
Obviously it'll never be that, but I'm excited to hear new music from them. And I'm also really excited to see Fantagram.
Fantagram is a band that I have never seen play live.
And they're more like kind of industrial sound music.
And it's a girl vocal.
So that's exciting.
And then, of course, my eyes are always going to be out for like Web3 NFT.
I'm waiting. I know that, um, Avenged seven fold, they're really the
only big like rock band that I know of that, um, has their own VIP tier, uh, membership through
NFT. So if you own a death bat, which is part of their collection. The lead singer is very much into Web3.
They even have some of their merchandise that has those NFT tags on it. They did a couple of those a few years ago. So I'm always looking out to see like, when is the Web3 like going to pop into
like basically the merchandising area? It's fun. I love going to concerts. I can go to any concert and be happy.
I've even seen like country shows where I'm like, I don't really care for this. But then,
you know, after a while, it's like about the experience and the people that go. And, you know,
for, you know, an hour to two hours of the time that you're there, you're enjoying music with other people too. And that's a whole on a whole nother level. You know, like, I'm sure I never got a chance to experience
any of those like Pink Floyd, Floyd laser light shows. I would have loved to gone to one of those,
you know, those are so cool. I remember when they were so popular. And I know like friends that
would go and they'd be like, it's so much fun. You take your blanket and everybody's just having a good time. People are like dancing in the lawns because
they would have it at our college in like the dome area where they play the football. Oh yeah.
Have you been to any big concerts? I know you went to the ACDC, Pablo.
Yeah, that was my biggest concert. My biggest headliner i've ever seen honestly acdc
at the at&t stadium that was sold out it was absolutely electric uh the energy the
the band itself i mean angus is absolutely amazing at 70 something or whatever the hell
i mean he was doing everything he did you know in his 20s and 30s, it looked like from what I've seen.
So it was wild.
I was absolutely impressed.
The people were cool.
I mean, I was on the floor.
So, I mean, it was even better, right?
So it was incredible.
I have been to like a kid rock show.
I've been to, you know, some fests,
like whether it be like Riff Fest or Fox Fest or, you know,
radios put them on and
there's like usually a big headliner and like three or four other you know medium bands or
whatever so i've seen like kid rock uh five finger death punch um zombie rob zombie uh
a couple others that you know you would recognize if i could remember names it was horrible at names and uh names of singers if i know the song i can give you a couple of my
lyrics for it and then uh i can usually narrow who is down but i'm not like one of those like
here are two notes and like bam get it like a couple of these people in the discord that play
name name that tune i'm like bro you got to use like your off hand to type with one hand uh so yeah but that is the biggest band i've ever seen yeah rob zombie is one of my favorites
to see live um i got the chance when i was younger to see white zombie and then when they broke up He became Rob Zombie. That man is probably one of the most fit rock stars I have ever seen.
That guy is like a vegan. He is like so strict with his routines. He's a runner. And if you ever
see him on stage, he never stops. He's like jumping around. Like he has so much energy.
stops. He's like jumping around. Like he has so much energy. He's just like super fit. Um,
and we would laugh when I was younger. Cause you know, like you, when you're young and you're
looking at some of these eighties bands into the nineties, a lot of them were drug users.
And like a lot of them died of heroin overdoses in the nineties. You know, a lot of them were, um, had really depressing grunge music at the time. So your,
your impression, my impression sometimes of the rock star wasn't that of a fit vegan,
uh, straight edge man running around on stage singing, uh, crazy double music. Right. So
to see that you're like, I mean, maybe aside from the lyrics and what they say as a
person, he's definitely a healthy man. Definitely puts on a great show. The pyrotechnics that White
Zombie and Rob Zombie does in their shows is amazing. Like you feel the heat coming at you.
Yeah. Like when anybody says they go to him, that's another one that my family,
my brothers and I will always try to see. And then Danzig. I don't know how, how and when,
but we all, we all go see Danzig too. And that's another like eclectic, different kind of crowd.
Yeah. I've been to a few different types of concerts. So smaller venues or just not any well-known bands.
They're just local bands that are really good, but they don't tour or anything like that.
I've been to a lot of those kind of situations, like a jazz club or over here at this bar that's known for having live acts, traveling across, you know, different states.
My dad took us across traveling a lot too. So just run into a park, you know, or having lunch
or whatever, or there's a lake here, let's go relax here. And there's like a concert going on,
you know, things like that. So one of the most ones that stood out to me recently in the last,
you know, eight years or so, I went and saw Ziggy,
and this was actually only like four years ago or something like that, with Ziggy Marley, and he did
all his dad's songs. It was like his birthday or something, and that was at a place called
Interlochen, and it's a school for music, and it's in the northern, like, Traverse City area. So if
you look at, again, homies know me from talking about Michigan,
the back of your left hand looks like the state of Michigan.
The left corner of your pinky would be like Traverse City,
the tip of your left pinky.
Yeah, so it was a really cool amphitheater.
And that is where I saw someone with a homie's shirt on,
the same homie's shirt that you could get in Hello Merch.
As a homies holder, my homies in Dreamland holder, you get 10% off.
So I'm not sure if that t-shirt is currently in the store,
but it was the Munchies t-shirt with the munchie on it, the acid munchie.
And I couldn't even barely stay in my seat i'm like this guy has a homie
shirt and i go on talk to him and he didn't even know about the homies it was great his buddy got
it for him or his wife got it for him or something like that um it was super cool so i was able to
you know geek out and really sound like a crazy person when i was talking to him about the nft
part of it because he didn't even know what the hell it was.
But it was so cool to see a homies shirt in the wild.
So yeah, remember homies, if you are a My Homies and Dreamland holder, Hello Merch has My Homies and Dreamland.
Yes, merchandise.
So check it out.
You get 10% off.

So stay calm, homies.
I have a question before we close the room.
Does the Rick Simpson oil, does it always come like in a syringe?
No, I have it in gummies right now.
Okay, so it's not like it always, because okay, a friend of mine who does the Keith drinks, those Keith soda drinks, they started doing Rick Simpson oil.
And he brought me in a sample of two of the Rick Simpson oils. And I was like, that's really
cool. I thought it was a pre-roll. When I opened up the package, it was a syringe. I'm like, what?
And that just threw me off a little bit. I was like, I don't know about the syringe,
even though I know like there's no needles or anything, it's just, whoa, a syringe.
And then he goes, oh, be careful because the oil will really stick to your teeth.
So I thought, all right, I'm going to consult some people through Hanging with the Homies before I try the Rick Simpson.
Because it just looks terrifying.
And it's like black.
It looks like black tar.
So it sounds like you have the real deal.
It's in the syringe so you can be overdosed yourself on it.
No, I'm just kidding.
I'm kidding.
You will pass out.
That is what will happen.
Usually they recommend the size of a grain of rice to try out first.
they recommend the size of a grain of rice to try out first. I'm going to say this is probably the
most powerful cannabis product that can be out there. This is stuff that they've used that people
have documented eliminating cancer. So yeah, this is like the medicine, the actual medicinal
product of cannabis in my opinion. So yeah, the size of
a grain of rice, people will put it on toast. Yes, it does. You know, a cracker, something that you
can, and the best way to do it is in a capsule, you know, then you don't get it on your teeth or
nothing like that. But yes, it sounds like you have the legit stuff. Be careful
or you'll just be passing out in like 45 minutes. Okay. So I have to say thank you because I was
not aware of the rice grain size. It just says on the instructions, like one millimeter or whatever
that's, that's done. I'm like, Oh, geez, scary. I mean, I just like to eat stuff. I don't want to have to like serve it up.
So I obviously I'm probably going to do it on a night where I don't have to work the next day.
But definitely I'm going to try the Rick Simpson. And they came out, I believe I'm going to find out later today.
I think they came out with a lighter version of the soda. Because I was telling him,
I said, I really like the soda, but 120 calories is a lot of sugar. So it's like, you know, I don't
drink the sodas all the time. And he said that they were coming out with like a light version.
And I'm really interested to see like, what kind of sweetener they're going to use because that was always
something where I'm like does like the monk fruit stuff is that going to taste good with
cannabis so I'll keep everybody posted on these new edibles that I found that my friend shares
with me and thank you for hanging out with us homies I hope you have a great Wednesday
and smoke them if you got them.
Stay calm, homies.
