Music Gracias por ver el video. Thank you. damn i just wanted to go make a tweet and I'm going to make a little home base.
Okay. Thank you. all right we shall let people funnel in get it started i technically have like six more minutes right yeah yeah we don't we're just gonna
we're technically live right now but uh we'll just let people follow in okay Thank you. you Thank you. All right, we're looking good.
We're looking good. Thank you. I definitely gotta
get some music for this beginning intro.
That's legit. I love the jam. Music Thank you. Music Thank you. All right.
Just reached the 100 person mark. I say it's about time to get started.
Welcome home and welcome to BASE everybody. We're here with Huampi from Talent Protocol.
Really glad to have you today and would love for you to share a little bit about yourself.
Thanks for having me here.
Actually, I love being on camera, to be honest.
Yeah, my thoughts, like talk, like literally my work is talking. So it's great to be here.
And of course, it's related to BASE.
But yeah, for those who don't know me, I'm Juan P.
I'm leading developer relationships at Tenant Protocol.
But most importantly, I'm a builder.
And I'm mostly a base builder.
At least most of the things that I do are on base.
And that's really important.
So yeah, excited to be here.
And he was not paid to say that, just so you all know.
And it really helps to have...
You can share it to my wallet.
Yeah, yeah, I already sent it.
So I'm really glad to have you here.
Really glad that you're a base builder.
And I'm really excited to hear about some of the on-chain uses use cases that
we're going to go over today so first i'd like to start with asking you a little bit about how
you got into crypto and why and what really interests you oh that that's a long story
actually but i got like on 2014 my uncle told me about bitcoin. I didn't vote, of course. I wouldn't be here.
At least I knew there was magic money flowing around the internet. Then when I finished high
school and I was searching for a career to study at the university, I also started to look more
in-depth into financials like trying to save money,
I'm from Argentina, by the way.
So we have like a lot of crypto adoption and a lot of economic problems.
So they go hand in hand, right?
So yeah, I discovered like crypto and I started like buying my first Bitcoin, my first Ethereum.
And then it was like the pandemic.
So everyone was locked in and I had like a lot more time to dig in.
And then you had like the DeFi kind of summer, play to earn, NFTs, all these huge things
So yeah, I was learning more about the technology and getting in love with it.
And yeah, it was like a big, big snowball.
And now I'm here talking with you.
Honestly, there's no better person to talk about on-chain use cases
than somebody from Argentina,
because obviously Argentina was one of the first
to really adopt crypto in a very real way,
especially for payments, for stable coins, etc.
Did you interact with Tron before Ethereum by any chance?
Most of the people here in Argentina, the P2Ps that we call,
so basically you go to, you have like USD cash or pesos.
Pesos is our local currency.
And you want to get a crypto stablecoin, USDT most of the cases.
you go to a P2P and most of them only use Tron and that's because they are they don't really
You go to a P2P and most of them only use Tron.
know about crypto I mean their job is to exchange money for other and get a fee so their way to go
for them was Tron like I assume the first people that started to say like okay you have to do on
Tron so everyone was copying them and they don don't know about Ethereum or Polygon or whatever.
Now, with all the adoption, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
there are more people that know about other blockchains,
so you can probably send USDT on base.
And now you also have exchanges and crypto cards here from Argentina,
and you can just directly swap inside their app,
so you don't need to go to a B2B.
It's amazing how easy it is and how many people really are already crypto native.
When I run a residency for artists and developers called Kismakasa.
And when we, our very first Airbnb that we hosted at, they asked to be paid in Tron.
And I was absolutely dumbfounded.
I was like, hey, can I send you ETH instead? And they're like, well, if you do, you need to send us 20 extra dollars for gas fees.
So I was like, please, like, please let me send you extra $20 for gas fees to not let me have to
touch Tron. You know, that would be incredible. But you know, Justin's son just happened to be
first. And, and compared to today's scammers, honestly, Justin's son looks like a good person.
So it's honestly the work that he did.
I think that there was real value because it did actually showcase, you know, why on-chain matters to so many people in Latam and specifically in Argentina.
So it seems like most people are switching from Tron to more L2s like Bayes specifically, which is why I think this conversation is very important.
But it's been really interesting to see sort of, you know, that level of adoption and how more and more people are becoming more educated and how they as they become more educated, they move away from Tron towards Ethereum and towards Bayes.
So is there any any last thoughts on on that little that little piece?
Is there any last thoughts on that little piece?
So, I mean, yeah, I mean, the most...
Crypto is used the most here in Argentina for, like, payments and mostly for savings.
So, yeah, people save on USD here in Argentina.
Of course, then you have, like, the people that actually invest their money,
but I'm talking about saving they they save on usd because our currency is super volatile now yeah well now with
melee is kind of like steady coming stronger i'm a melee supporter of course i vote libra and of
course i lost in libra that was fucked up from his car to be honest i'm uh yeah i'm not blind i say the good
things and the bad things but overall i think he's doing like a great thing with with economics and
all that but uh yeah so we use um usd for saving and the easiest way to get usd right now actually
is crypto is usd and use the serious table so most people use it for that. And when I say payment,
it's like most of the people that work for the 4inch, like for example, myself,
they get two options. They get paid on crypto, but that's kind of like a niche. You actually need
to work for a crypto company or do some illegal shits on the internet to get paid on crypto.
or do some illegal shits on the internet to get paid on crypto and then the other way is you get
usd on a local bank account that accepts usd but it's super shitty to to get that cash out so a lot
of people use these crypto apps like for example i don't know lemon you have a bello those are local
ones and then you have like third-party. Like for example, our friends at Moonwell,
that they are like one of the biggest lending
and borrowing platforms on base.
They are like now opening like a feature
that lets you open like a bank account on USDs
for people from LATAM that's really useful.
So you get crypto there or like other business pay you on usd but you receive crypto so for
example you receive usdc even a one-of-one change and that's amazing and then you can do whatever
you want with that usd you can change it to pesos if you want or use usdc and pay with card and you
get shares of of your crypto card with usd that's the main use cases. And I actually use it every single day.
That's how I pay for my things.
In this case, with Moonwell.
but right now I'm using Moonwell most of the day.
I booked for a plane to Mexico using Moonwell.
And every day I pay my coffee on chain using Lemon.
And you got the physical Moonwell card. using moonwell and every day i pay my coffee on chain using lemon and that's
and you got the physical moonwell card no no i just prefer to use apple pay i don't like
having a physical wallet with myself i always lose it so i prefer to go with my phone and do like this
it's more of it i mean i work in tech so yeah i need it's more modern it's more seamless for yeah it's yeah all right so yeah
i think we hit on like the most important use case i'm glad we started there too with with
payments stable coins and savings uh two very very important or three very very important use cases
in crypto and and by far the most important especially to people who like need crypto for
its actual use case you know not uh not americans who want to just invest
in crypto to make money uh rather than actually use it so um now outside of those important uh
necessities um and those very very poignant uh use cases what else is exciting you and it doesn't
necessarily have to be on base but i guess bonus points if it is okay what excites me right now about the
current meta of crypto of course it's um i mean i'm a huge fan of web free social or socialfy or
consumer krypton i don't know it has different names right now i prefer consumer crypto i think
sounds more fancy yeah but yeah that that always was my vertical is where i
i find the most interesting things um well as i as i mentioned i work at talent protocol and we
are working with own chain reputation so that's also a field that i think it's amazing it has a
lot of use cases people would think it's only on hr and of course that makes a lot of sense because
you want to see the reputation that their data is not fragmented all behind one's identity and
verify transparent blah blah blah but also has other cool use cases for so for example in finance
we are seeing a lot of under-coronatelized landings there are some guys building on base actually
of under-collateralized landings.
There are some guys building on base, actually,
that they are like free chain.
I think it's called their platform.
And they are like working on under-collateralized landings.
And their first MVP actually was with our reputation data,
with our builders going around with data pods.
I remember Jesse was super excited.
Right now, I think they are like pivoting
and using like other, um, sorry.
How was the data used exactly? Can you go into that a little bit?
Yeah. So for example, they were like checking if you fit certain criteria that was our,
in our API. Like, so for example, I don't know if you participate on a base bill at
on, or if you had certain amount of transactions on ethereum
and your builder score how high it was and based on that you could access um like a amount of
credit based on your social reputation and not only money that you hold and i i think that's
pretty cool i think that's a a huge thing you are going to see later this year, probably.
I'm bullish on that. I could actually talk about undercollateral slainting a lot, but I will leave
it there. Another use case that is super interesting, based on on-chain reputation,
is governance. So I'm from Argentina, and this is like a hot take, but I don't think everyone should be allowed to vote. Believe me.
Well, I can see that from being from LATAM.
I understand the sentiment, especially because the political environment feels very similar to the 1970s in the U.S.
So it's like, you know, there's a lot of education and a lot of, there's a lot that still needs to come to light, I should say.
and a lot of, there's a lot that still needs to come to light, I should say.
I mean, here, in the past, they were like giving actually free hot dogs to people just
to vote for them and vote for them.
So yeah, we were super fucked up.
So what if actually the highest qualified people in the society, the ones with the highest reputation, the most knowledge, could, I don't know, maybe their votes are valued by 2x, maybe, or actually the people that are not so qualified has, I don't know, half of their voting power?
That could be really interesting in governance solutions, for example, for DAOs.
Well, it's because if you have real reputation, too,
you'll be able to make it very specific to that person.
So if you know this person is very high quality in some areas,
but not others, you might be able to weight their vote accordingly.
And the person might even be able to suggest
what their vote should be weighted.
They should maybe even be able to say, hey, i don't participate in politics and don't know anything but like i still want to vote um so like i should vote but my weight should be less
and i know that you know so like maybe having individuals actually participate and decide like
hey like you know my vote or maybe yeah or maybe a doubt, there's a proposal that is like super technical
and nothing to do with marketing or sponsoring an event.
So you don't want normal people to vote.
You actually want literally developers to vote.
You are something from marketing that an introvert dev doesn't know anything related.
So yeah, he doesn't need to vote.
That's an interesting one.
Then like I'm a fan of social media.
Like I spend most of my days on Twitter and of course on Farcaster and also sometimes
And for example, I'm a huge fan of custom feeds, custom algorithms.
I really like the algorithm from Twitter, even though sometimes recommend me weird things that I can't say.
But yeah, that's kind of weird.
But for example, now with open social graph, permissionless social graph like Lens and Forecaster, you can create your own algorithm where it recommends you the people, I don't know, with the best builder scores out there
or with certain data points. For example, you want to create your own base feed. So you can
search for on-chain data related to base. We have like base build that's on, base winner,
base builder reward. We have a lot of data points related to Base,
and you can create your own custom feed,
and other people can add it and can use it on their own social media feed.
And that's really interesting, actually.
Speaking of, I'll put a shill in for mbd.xyz.
I'm not sure if you use Embed,
but Embed is actually a way for users to be able to create their own social feeds.
And the product is currently being positioned for orgs to be able to create their own social feeds and i i the product is currently
being positioned for like orgs to create social feeds but uh i mean if you're a really savvy
individual you can start to do it yourself i will try it yeah for sure i'm not super i mean i'm more
real than dev so i do more like dd rather than actually coding i'm mean, you still don't like me on the camera. Yeah.
Yeah, it has to be the case.
But my builder score is big enough.
We've gone over underclateralized lending.
Of course, the real use cases of stable coins,
payments, savings, governance, and now consumer apps like social fi um is there any other on-chain use cases that because we've sort of covered most like uh consumer focus defy etc so if there's any
other on-chain use cases that uh that come to mind i have i have one, but feel free to think of something real quick
I mean, I could really go into creators
and how NFTs and like own chain are helping them.
Yeah, I mean, in other life, I was a content creator.
So in other life, I was a content creator. Let's start with that. My frustrated dream was to be a YouTuber or a successful streamer. That for sure. I ended up on tech. So yeah, pivoting on life.
content creators near to me are struggling a lot like say for example i had like a a friend that
she was like a super famous model here in argentina and she worked based on instagram
and one day instagram like literally delete her account and she was like devastated because it
was actually her her weapon for for the work and other people that are not making money not making
enough money thanks to a media revenues or whatever.
And yeah, if you think in actually, in theory, because in practice, I want to be honest,
and I don't think it's really working that much.
But in theory, content creators could benefit a lot of on-chain because, yeah, 100% of the revenue is for them.
They have like a lot of different um distribution
channels such as for caster sora even twitter if you want to use some tools they are and they have
like their social graph of their most loyal fans where they can reward them etc etc etc so yeah i
think content creators could be like 100% better with entry tools.
Yeah, this is an important topic because I mean, not only can creators be rewarded, but also builders as well.
And maybe we should get into a little bit about what Talent Protocol is, what builder rewards are, and how people can participate in like the current collaboration between Talent and Base.
So yeah, let me share my screen for Talent Protocol. I think we have a cool thing that
we say that is show, don't tell. So I'm going to show. I'm sharing my screen.
Yeah, I think I'm not lagging anymore.
But for example, this is my talent
profile. Basically, talent protocol is like an on-chain repetition protocol. We aggregate data
from different sources, on-chain and off-chain, and we aggregate all that data in one profile.
Why? Because nowadays, information is fragmented across the internet. I have like an account on LinkedIn, an account on Instagram,
on Twitter. And there are also some people that perceive me in some way and others in another way.
So my reputation is kind of fragmented. So we aggregate all that in one place. And another
huge problem is that reputation nowadays is self-reported. So I can go to LinkedIn and put
that I'm CEO of Google if I want. People wouldn't believe it, but you get the point. So here, of course, thanks to blockchain, we have verified data and transparent data. And that's really cool. So yeah, no more theory. Let's go to practice. This is my talent profile. So for example, this is my builder score. I have 178. And I'm in this rank position. I think it's pretty cool considering there are
like 20,000 developers on on chain ecosystem. And yeah, I can connect all my socials. So have it
all only one place. And here you can see like different sources of data points. So for example,
a base bill earnings on chain summer bill that, bill that I can participate, and I was a participant there.
That's really interesting.
And yeah, like data from Twitter, from ENS, if you complete bounties on BountyCaster,
We are super deep into GitHub, so we fetch a lot of data there.
If you want like a global hackathon or if you are a finalist,
et cetera. You see the point. So based on all that information, we give you the builder score,
and the builder score can get everything you want on chain, like for example, access a group
based on your builder score, and all the use cases that we talked before,
based on your builder score. Then we have like cool search that this is kind of like
an interface of what our API is capable of doing.
We are powering most of the well-known brands
in the ecosystem, of course, including base and Coinbase.
And yeah, for example, our interface,
you can search based on different filters, for
example, builders that have minimum and builder score of 85.
And I don't know how outgoing transactions on base and have some, I don't know, own
And I don't know, a lot of different reputation endpoints.
And you can search for them and we'll give you the creative list.
And the cool thing is that then you can export it as a CSV. It's really interesting, actually.
So yeah, that's basically all what Talent Protocol is about. It's not too much science. It's a
reputation protocol. We aggregate data. Boom, you have the builder score. That we want to be the standard for all ecosystem,
not only base, but for everyone.
Let me stop sharing my script.
So I think a good place to start
after talking a little bit about what talent is,
is how people should use it
and what the best way for people to start using it right now
if they've never interacted with it before.
So the best way to use talent, I mean, talent is a protocol, not an app.
The app you saw, of course, it's an app we built ourselves,
but this was mostly to give like one place to have a fancy UI where you can actually see your reputation physically.
But we don't build actually use cases.
And this is where the cool thing comes.
Other apps or protocols or ecosystems start building on top of our rich reputation data.
And they can build different use cases and different apps, as we mentioned before, free chain for finance. There is a guy that is doing a matchmaking based on AI and using the
talent API to full his LLM. So that's pretty interesting. I think it's called ViewAI.
Then you have Etherscan. Etherscan is also showing talent protocol reputation for for their accounts and they can
all build on top of our reputation data so yeah uh but something that we can have highlight is
what we launched with base literally last week that is called builder rewards so yeah interesting
interesting i mean rewards everything that has the word reward would be interesting. Devs can get paid.
Yeah, people can get paid, right?
The concept behind a builder reward is like basically base and talent protocol wants to reward all builders that are contributing to the ecosystem.
The thing is that there were several experiments
I don't know if you guys remember rounds,
base build, it was called,
where each people needed to post
what they were building that week.
And there were like, I mean, it was great.
I think I was in the top 11 historical
base builds earnings so that's pretty cool i made an income with that and i got a lot of spotlight
and i was helping other builders also get a lot of spotlight so it's a great initiative yeah the
problem is that first of all there was a lot of fake submissions so you could present something
you build like a month before.
I remember, I think it was Kabir that he, poor Kabir,
he needed to enter every week and start creating and liking thousands of posts.
And of course, it's really difficult and it won't scale.
And also people needed to actually go there and post on BaseBuild.
And it was kind of a friction, right?
Now with Builder Rewards, what we wanted to make is literally this.
You build, you get rewarded.
It's so simple that looks like magic.
So how do they even submit, for example?
There's no platform where they need to go.
You don't need to sign up anywhere.
You just build and get rewarded.
But going a bit deep on that is that we track your GitHub activity and your smart contract activity.
For example, how many volume of addresses are using your smart contracts,
how many money you are generating, I don't know, amount of gas fees generated,
or basically on all your smart contracts, your contributions to specific repositories,
commits, et cetera, all GitHub activity.
Basically on that, we analyze that week by week.
And also, basically on your builder score,
you get a certain amount of points.
And that points are translated into Ethereum.
So at the end of each week,
everyone that is building on base in public,
because they need to be public repositories,
but this is like a privacy thing.
I mean, we can't access your private repositories.
So yeah, if you build on public,
you get a slice of that Ethereum. There were, today we distributed the first batch and there were a lot of people that they didn't
even know they gained some Ethereum and they were actually qualifying. And it's pretty simple. To
be eligible, you just need a base name that most of the people have. A human checkmark on Talent
Protocol, this is due to legal aspects.
I mean, you will always have like a little, little bit of friction.
But it's super simple because we have like a lot of options to get the human checkman.
So that's pretty, pretty interesting.
And a builder score above 40.
That now with the builder score B2 that we released, that is a new scoring system.
It's super easy to get the builder score about 40 i mean
super super easy can we actually talk a little bit about how um the score is calculated and uh
what metrics you guys you guys currently hit on and how you calculate uh some of those weights
oh yeah we i mean i mean this is because this is just like you know it's no secret that in
reputation like this is the hardest problem to to solve is like how to choose which metrics matter and how to weight them.
So I'm just very curious how you guys are thinking about it.
So each data point we track has like a different weight.
We have like different categories.
We have like credibility, identity, or I think it is now called humanity.
Then we have like skills, then we have activity.
And inside of each category, we have, again, more filters.
So for example, if it's financial activity, if it's social activity,
if it's et cetera activity, if it's for creators, if it's for developers.
And basically on all those filters and categories that we make,
weights for each data point. It's literally like that. Based on that, you will get some points.
And at the end of the day, the sum up of all those points is your builder score. We are also
looking now with the builder score b2, one of the main things that we want to make is that it's more dynamic.
So, for example, if you are a more reputable builder based on other metrics,
maybe you have boosters and more weights to data points that other people have less weight.
And that completely makes sense because it's your reputation.
And we will add also new scoring.
So you will not only have like your builder score,
but maybe your creator score or your designer score. That's super interesting. And the cool
thing is that that's 100% permissionless. Our API will be able for you as a builder,
you use our API and you can create your own scoring system. So maybe you want to do home-based
to do home base score, you could definitely make it with a time protocol API.
score. You could definitely make it with a time protocol API.
That's really interesting.
So let's ideate through if we want to make a home base score.
Everyone who's currently watching this, go put your base name into the chat right now.
If you don't have a base name, put your ENS.
If you don't have an ENS, put your Ethereum address.
So your base name, your ENS, put your Ethereum address. So your base
name, your ENS, or your Ethereum address, go put that in right now. So let's assume everyone who
puts in their base name into the comments, let's assume we add these all into one segment. We
connect with the Talent Protocol API and we mark these as like home base individuals, right? Then we can sort of
like make a directory of all of these like home base participants, etc. and create weights and
scores depending based on like talent protocols waiting. Exactly. You can, for example, I don't
know, as you say, you get all the base names put on the chat, you get an Excel, maybe you create an attestation if you want them on chain or whatever, or maybe you airdrop them something or whatever. And then on the API for those addresses, you create a score. It's only available for them.
level for them um and yeah then you can select if you want to include data points that we already
have or maybe add your custom data points that's really cool and yeah you just like you select
your own weights i didn't have to use your scoring system for example i mean we give you the the
structure and we give you all the data points so for example we have like more than 70 data points
maybe you want i don't know, only base rewards
and base build-out-on-participant and base transactions.
So you add them to your scoring system.
You give them the weight you want for all the base names
that you already specified and you create your creator score.
Just note, this is not possible right now.
We launched Buildercore B2 literally last
week, but we are launching new unlocks every week, every month, and building your own score
is something that we already publicly announced that will be possible. I mean, our API is already
ready. Our infrastructure is already ready to handle it. We just need to ship the first agreement.
I think it's really, really interesting, actually.
And I would love to even test it out.
Whenever you're ready, let me know.
We'll hop on a home-based live stream
and we'll create a home-based builder creator score
or participant score, contributor score, maybe.
visual, you know, make like a dashboard, maybe a heat map, you know, something just to
visualize, you know, all the people and how they interact with each other.
Statue, I gave me a similar idea earlier today. So I think we can merge these two ideas into one.
Yeah, she's a huge idea girl.
Yeah, idea queen for sure.
But the best ideas and the best one to execute on them.
So glad to have her in our corner for sure.
is there anything else before we move on?
Is there anything else from Talent Protocol
that you'd like to share about what
you guys are working on, what you guys are building, or any more
about the collaboration with BASE?
Maybe even a link or socials?
I don't know if this link will be
watching this, but you can go to talentprotocol.com
and that's our landing page.
You can then click on launch app
and go to the app. You can follow us
in Farcaster. That's a clean handle actually
talent on farcaster that's real yeah it's really clean man um yeah i mean again we launched this
builder core b2 so if you were an og on builders core b1 you can go to the platform and see your
new builder score it will i'm 90 99 sure it will be higher and And if it's lower, I mean, it's your fault because you didn't build enough.
Yeah, and we are launching like new things,
new aesthetics, more apps building on top of our ecosystem
that are going to announce soon.
We are having a lot of different campaigns,
builder rewards with base right now.
Again, build and get rewarded.
And literally, there's no call to action.
I mean, just do the things you do every week,
but now you will start getting paid.
Only if you have a base name
and a human checkmark of talent protocol.
So yeah, make sure you have that.
then you will get free magic money on the internet for free.
And yeah, thanks to Base on Talent Protocol.
Probably more builder rewards coming
with other ecosystems and protocols.
That's probably, I don't know.
Your score, yeah, that's great.
Yeah, I don't know, I don't know.
And yeah, new scores coming.
A lot of things are going to happen.
So yeah, but I don't like to tell I like to show
so I will of course share everything once it's happening um I don't know this is the ending
should I say my socials also uh yeah give your social there's one more thing I want to talk about
but uh you can share your screen share your socials uh show yourself get everyone to follow you and then uh
and then i want to talk more about base names so everyone keep sending your base names keep
sending your eth addresses keep sending your ens keep sending yeah i mean you can search me on on
twitter as juampy that's not my handle but probably i will pop up juampi.if so yeah same on farcaster huampi as my name you can see here
and yeah follow me because social media is the most important thing on my life more likes more
follower is more dopamine to my brain it's it's funny i mean it's really important uh you know
crypto social is really important when we talk about on-chain use cases.
So I'm glad it came up. I'm glad it's taken the center stage here.
But yeah, what do you want to talk about base rewards?
I want to talk about base names.
We should show people how to grab a base name if people aren't familiar,
because it seems like people need a base name for talent as well.
So we both have incentive to show people.
Do you want to show your screen or my screen?
Do you want to show your screen?
I'd love for it to be the guest rather than the host.
Just make sure you see phrases.
So you just need to go to base.org slash names,
and you will be to the base name landing page.
It's really cool, really good animated.
So, yeah, you have, like, all the benefits here.
Basically, it's powered by ENS.
It's really, it's actually an ENS subdomain.
It's a way to have your identity, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And you can go here and search for, I don't know,
let's see home base, probably it's already taken.
Yeah, it is unfortunately.
We didn't even get it. But I could get OX Homebase. And that's
available. And I should pay 0.15 cents. That's actually super, super, super cheap. But this is
the cool thing. If you go here to learn more and you fit any of these criterias,
including if you have a builder score
get the base name for free. So you save
just for being a builder. That's really
didn't know that. That's cool as far. Yeah,
that's super cool. And yeah, you
can register it. I'm not going to register, but if you go here and you super cool and yeah you can like register it i'm not
going to register but if you go here and you click blah blah blah it's asking for my my my
password and i don't have it here i mean your register do uh if you're not if you're not signed
in no but i'm i'm signing so for example with this wallet i'm the owner of jump all the pace of course i have one pilot base and other base names but in this world i have a jump all the base and if i go to my
profile this is really cool this is thanks to on chain kit but yeah but yeah shout out to
on chain kit of course but on the past if i here, I could actually go to my dashboard if I'm wrong.
Well, I don't know what happened,
but if you do like this and go to names
and go to Juanpi, for example, slash your actually base name,
you can go to this page where you can manage
all your things related to base name.
So for example, you could see your base name. Maybe you can link some your things related to base name so for example you could see your base name
maybe you can link some socials here you can put your skills so i put all these ones you can see
your own chance score that this is different from the builder score and it's a bit messy but the
cool thing for you to know is that the only score you see the builder score on the back so yeah
builder score at the end of the day is the meme of God handling everything on the wall.
So that's a Builder Score.
Yeah, actually, you can see it here on Builder Activity.
And yeah, you can explore different things
and you can put mini apps here embedded on the base name.
So yeah, get a base name, basically.
Get a base name. So yeah, get a base name basically. Get a base name.
Nice. All right. So is there anyone who's currently in the chat who still is unaware of how to get a base name? I hope everyone here already has a base name. If they don't
have a base name, they know how to get one.
And if you still don't know, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter or WarpCast.
And then you better get started on Talent Protocol right after.
Especially now that the Builder Rewards are here and they are ready for the taking.
So if you are building on base, you better pay attention.
You might be getting some ETH.
Yeah, there was never a better time to be a builder than now.
I mean, especially on base.
Especially on base, yeah.
Today is always the best day to build on base yeah still day one as jesse would say
that's a cool thing we need to make like a ranking of the most cringes phrases on base
probably still one would be the first one just build it could be the second one
yeah and a lot of other cringy phrases who better to do it than talent just build it could be the second one yeah
and a lot of other cringy prices
who better to do it than talent
yeah I probably will do it one day
I think this is a little side project
I don't know you need anything else
I'm super happy actually I'm having a great time
yeah I mean we have about 10 minutes Anything else? Is that all? I'm super happy, actually. I'm having a great time.
Yeah, I mean, we have about 10 minutes until I want to start preparing for the next session.
So if there's anything crypto-related
that you want to share with our audience,
so everyone here is preparing for the base batches build-a-thon
coming up in about two weeks.
So if there's anything that you'd want to share with them
to prepare them for their base builds,
especially if there's a way for them to tap into talent
We are working really close with the base build-a-thon team.
So Talent Protocol will be in all build-a-tons.
Actually, when you make the registration,
I think you can link your Talent Protocol profile.
Every submission, if you participate
your builder score will increase
because we track buildatons participations.
the higher your builder score,
if you win, your builder score will be even higher.
I mean, I don't think it's a little
because I think it's already
on the article-based launch.
But yeah, that was going to happen for sure.
I'm going to be a mentor and doing workshops
for the LATAM region, Latin America.
So yeah, hit me up if you have like something cool to build.
Maybe Talent Protocol even puts a bounty on the side
I'm not sure if that's going to be allowed, but it's allowed maybe we we do it to for the talent api uh but yeah it's a
great opportunity like participate on the better speed at all i mean the only thing you could lose
is a bit of time but you will learn a lot what is uh something that uh that talent protocol would
put up for a bounty what What are things that builders...
Yeah, maybe it's the use case of our API
if you build something creative or useful.
Is there anything specific that you're looking for,
that you're thinking of, that you really want to see?
I have a wish list, but not right on my hand right now.
To be honest, I can't think of anything i mean just
surprise me if you do a cool ai agent or something under collateral lending or governance you have a
lot of verticals to build so yeah speaking of i guess that's a good place to cap off this
conversation regarding uh ai agent reputations and how you see ai agents using talent protocol
reputations and how you see ai agents using talent protocol so this is super curious because uh there
was a team that contacted me literally two days ago they are building an ai agent and they want
to have a profile on talent protocol with the builder score we were always against organizations having profiles because we want profiles to be attached with humans or persons.
But we are experimenting this of AI agents.
We are talking with them.
We are trying to see which is the best way for them to connect wallets and githubs of the agent to the platform so we can track all the reputation of that agent.
We are also seeing other opportunities
to make specific related AI kind of data points
So everyone that is building on AI
could get their reputation higher.
So yeah, still nothing to find,
but we are for sure exploring that interesting yeah i i
understand like the need or the want to uh have most reputations be humans uh makes it a lot easier
and it's going to be a real reputation but giving reputation to to bots into companies is like it's
the same way i think about the leaderboards on Warpcast, right? Like,
if we have companies competing for the same rewards as individuals, then, you know, there's
like a small discrepancy, right? Like, it doesn't really, it's not really the same competition,
right? Like, my, like, let's say Talent Protocol's profile is the top earner on Warpcast leaderboards,
you know, why would Talent Protocol be competing with, you know,
individuals who are just like casting about, you know,
their daily life or what they're building or whatever, you know,
like these are two separate things.
It's like, it's almost like it's not the same as like comparing like mini apps
to like the Warpcast leaderboard, like the mini app leaderboard is truly different.
But, you know, there needs to be at least like
two different segments within this one leaderboard
because like these accounts aren't humans.
It's either a group of humans or it is a bot.
So it shouldn't be like treated the same
as individual Warpcast accounts
that actually are real humans, you know, not bots.
Yeah, yeah, I completely agree.
It's kind of like a gray space, but we are trying to work on that.
I mean, it's kind of new, so yeah.
Yeah, I mean, it's very new, of course.
It's not something I definitely expected to be solved already, that's for sure.
We're going to have to do the hard work and solve it ourselves.
But yeah. But this is why we love crypto right you know yeah i love crypto man uh
uh yeah i mean literally i'm wearing all crypto merch right now so yeah stand up what are you
wearing we can't see this is like a an nft ticketing platform from argentina yeah and
they are like super cool.
They're like electronic party.
Well, that's another use case on chain for ticketing.
They are like literally the biggest platform of ticketing for electronic music.
All the DJs in the world that come to Argentina use that platform.
And they're using NFT on the back.
And no one knows they are using NFT because
they don't shield it. They did the things right. They use blockchain without telling they are using
blockchain because at the end, no one cares who the fuck is using blockchain or the chain. No one
cares. No one cares. So that's cool. Then this is like a is like a... Yeah, it's like a
beer. So it's like some guys
thing called Pinta token.
That is a token that you can
exchange one-on-one for a beer.
So you go to some creative
beer stations here in Argentina,
and you can pay with that, and you give one token, they so you go to some creative beer stations here in argentina and you can pay with
that and you give one token they give you one beer uh someone's asking in the comments what
is the name of the ticketing platform bombo b-o-m-b-o bumble yeah yeah that's oh here are the
comments i they were like hidden all the time for me i didn't see
i didn't know there were there was another tap for the comments okay so probably missed a lot
of the comments but yeah love you all thanks yeah that's hilarious uh no worries yeah argentina
really is the the crypto wonderland yeah it's taking it makes a lot of sense but do you do you know ox designer on
twitter workcast yeah yeah so they casted uh and tweeted about how they can't remember the last
time they used their wallet and i replied was like hey like i know you received workcast rewards last
week like so you did so you did your wallet did get used you you know, and they never responded.
I mean, usually they do and I like reply or whatever, but they didn't respond.
And I just thought to myself, like, this is the future, right?
Like, you don't even know where you're going to be using a wallet, right?
You might like think crypto is dead because you're not touching a wallet, but now your wallet's being touched in ways like you never even thought.
And it's being abstracted away in such a special way like you know what made me think about that is when you said this ticketing
platform is using nfts on the back end in a way people probably don't even understand don't even
recognize don't even care about yet but in five years you know when they go back and say holy
shit i still own like the the access that i got to this very special concert you know so when i'm in these
circles people actually appreciate you know this sort of credibility this sort of provenance etc
um like that's real value uh and even though people might not see it or care about it today
like it's still there it still exists and it's still solving a problem yeah yeah that's true
i actually fun fact i used to work in an nft ticketing company like
three years ago or or more or less and so yeah i i have that use case on my heart
it's uh it's a really special one i mean even for like playbill for my my brother is a uh a playwright
um he writes for broadway so for Broadway. Even doing ticketing for
Broadway shows, for productions, etc.
I love that they nailed down
EDM and those sorts of musicians
who are coming to Argentina because it's such a
really should be using this tech.
Yes, yes. Totally agree yeah you are all invited i mean you will probably see everything on devcon on november because
it's happening on argentina hell yeah baby i'll see you there i see you there man can't wait
devconnect is gonna be amazing yeah all right well thank you so much for your for your time and effort um
uh we can start preparing for the next session here it looks like just about everyone is joining
in uh for our next session um so i'll start getting them prepared and swampy thank you so
much for joining us really appreciate your time uh and your effort no problem man super great time
Just ping me whenever you need a guest another time.
I'm sure that will be soon.
That was our session from Whompy.
Really appreciate you all for joining us for it.
Our next session is going to be
our base builder highlight i'm bringing on zach right here who is going to be our host for this
uh this next session and next i'll be adding on our the rest of our panel
all right so as people come online online, we will get chatting.
If you have not put your base name in the comment section, please comment your base
If you don't have a base name yet, put your ENS or your Ethereum address.
And if you don't have a base name yet, feel free to ask in the comments for some help
or to DM me and I will help you as well.
Zach, feel free to give a little introduction of yourself and as our other speakers come online,
Audio seems a little lagged. Добавил субтитры DimaTorzok E aí Let me put on a little music while we prepare for this All right.
I can hear you perfectly.
It looks like Zach is having some technical difficulties.
So we're going to, we'll just do a little intros without him and hopefully we can have him join on here once he is ready.
Awesome. have him join on here once he is once he is ready cool awesome
okay uh you want a little introduction then yeah yeah tell us a little about yourself uh what
you're building who you are and why you're here so uh good night to everyone or evening a day
whatever you are i'm carlo i'm one of the co-founders of Rives. We have this super cool arcading platform that's
And the cool thing about our project
is that it allows you to actually verify the gameplays.
So we don't use the on-chain part just for the economics
or the scoring and stuff, but all game plays are actually
verified, which is super cool.
And the arcade we have has this retro vibe, which is super nice.
And we have a really cool API that's easy for everyone to use.
So our main objective is just allowing everyone that
has some cool idea to just make a game out of it,
share with friends, have fun, compete.
And yeah, just build on chain right that's that's the purpose
that's why we're here baby awesome um q wingo are you guys here by any chance hello i'm here how are
you amazing how are you not too bad myself man. How do you pronounce your name? Is that Luciano?
Luciano? Nice to meet you guys.
So it looks like Zach is here from his phone, but I'm going to go ahead and yap a little bit here.
So name is Wings. Very nice to meet everyone here.
Base morning, base night, wherever you are from, I'm from Canada.
Base morning, base night, wherever you are from. I'm from Canada.
I am one of the leads and co-founder of Fox Area,
a pixel platform game that we are currently developing.
It's about communities where they go and compete
through on-chain avatars, just to keep things simple.
Am I allowed to share my screen or present?
Actually, go for it. And then we'll go back to Carlos so he or present? Actually go for it.
And then we'll go back to Carlos so he can present a little bit about it before
Zach hops on so everyone can give some context about,
a little more context about what they're building.
So if you see there's a present button that you can click,
click share screen and then I'll add it to the session.
Let me just move the stream away.
I think you guys can see it.
Yep, they can see it now.
So this is just a beta version of Fox area.
It's currently off chain, but we are working on our next version, which is going to be on chain.
It's currently off-chain, but we are working on our next version, which is going to be on-chain.
And we are going to be doing a mint on a platform, a little tournament game,
where we'll be giving away a lot of prizes.
So just check us out if you guys want to follow along.
And on Farcaster, it's FoxArea.
So a little bit about the game.
We have the campaign mode, the event mode, and maps.
Although I can't show you guys the maps right now.
The campaign mode is what I will be able to show you.
And it is a speedrunning game.
So if you guys like leaderboards, tournaments, prizes,
it is a game based off speedrunning.
So any percentage, 100%, those type of games
where you try to complete the game as quick as possible,
you rank on the leaderboard,
and you try to get one of the diamond badges.
So just to make it more simple, each of these are considered a level.
This is chapter one, so it's more of a game, solo level game, where you come in and practice and see how well you are doing.
So just to show you guys one of the levels, maybe two if we have time.
So there's a little pixel character here,
and there's actually an on-chain avatar.
This collection is called Crypto Foxes,
which is our main collection that we minted out in 2021 on Ethereum.
Classic. That was even before Beacon.
Yeah, it's very, very and you know since then we kind of
trying to find our way uh to see what we're trying to do not sure if you guys can hear the music it
is a little loud to be honest but uh no oh you guys can't i don't think so okay but yeah this
is level two so the idea is the campaign mode is a very introduction to the game. I'm currently using my keyboard, so I'm not as quick. You can use your controller if you like.
Yeah, so the game is really based off the idea of speedrunning.
Is it optimized for a controller?
It is optimized for a controller.
Oh, that's funny. That's good.
Oh, that's funny. That's good.
And I'm just going to go back to the menu.
Obviously, as you progress through the levels, it actually gets harder and harder.
And the idea is that we have over 100 maps now that we haven't shown yet.
And we have an event game mode where it pieces the levels together.
So we wanted a competition with 15 levels.
It goes through the 100 levels pick 15 levels
randomly uh and then a tournament will a little leaderboard game event game will will uh proceed
uh one of the things that we're currently building on obviously this is not working at the moment
uh is that through the on-chain avatars we have profiles so the idea of the profiles is that we want to it's very early
stage in terms of what we're trying to do but the idea is that you can collect medals create a unique
profile of yourself uh track your stats your gameplay stats how many death by fireballs and
spikes and you can collect badges like in the future we are planning to do more unique badges so you can
actually build a reputation for your on-chain avatars something yeah uh and in terms of the
event games if you win a trophy that's what it's all about being the first place you get this unique
trophy on your profile and you know it's something that we're trying to develop long term but it's
a lot of moving pieces and a lot of work and the idea is that uh we're trying to develop long term, but it's a lot of moving pieces and a lot of work.
And the idea is that we're trying to build a reputation identity thing for your actual avatar itself that you can represent.
And then Talent Protocol will be able to take that data and add it to their API.
Yeah, they could technically.
That's the general idea like we want to
reward skill players uh and it's a competition so in the next version what we're trying to do is
we're going to have like a free leaderboard and a pro leaderboard if you're good at the game you
can actually stake usdc or something like that and then fight against other foes on the leaderboard.
There's also other things, right? So one of the things we're releasing in the next two months is
called Shadow, which is the base avatar. What these guys can do, it's going to give you an entry to
the tournament. All the assets here, they are interoperable, meaning if you are a shadow or if you have a different character.
I wish I had a screen where I could show you guys.
But we were partnering with over 10 meme communities where we take the IP.
The shadow can drink a potion, let's say Toshi, and it will turn into a Toshi avatar.
There's 15 skins and you'll get a random Toshi avatar, blue, pink, whatsoever.
And it becomes an identity of that IP.
Yeah, it's a really interesting way to do it, actually.
And there's other IPs that we're trying to onboard.
It's going to take a long time because there's a lot of arts that we have to do.
And you can pretty much dig out your avatar with a bunch of assets.
And you can wear it across all different type of avatars that we have.
So 15 plus communities coming on board soon on base.
So it's going to be a wild time for sure.
Somebody in the comments said, love the controller compatibility.
Haven't seen much of that in Web3 Gaming, which is true.
I haven't seen any of that.
Then of course goes on to say,
are you going to drop a token?
Oh, and then they also said,
Drive interface is awesome, works well on mobile too.
Super. Yeah. One of our UI person is really cracked.
So yeah, thank you about that.
Token, not sure yet, but yeah, we have different things on the platform.
I'm just going to speed run this real quick.
You can re-spin your assets as well with this little slot machine.
And here's the inventory section where you can have loot boxes, open them, get different assets, and they have different rarities and stuff like that. So, yeah. All right. Thank you so much for sharing that. That was
super cool. Carlo, if you'd like to share a little bit of your game, I think that'd be a great idea.
And just click the present button, click share screen. I'll add it up and then everyone will be able to see it. And then
we can sort of compare the difference in games maybe. Sure. So this is our home screen. So as I mentioned, Ribes has like two target audiences or two personas, let's say. One is the one that
expresses themselves, the creator. So if you click here on create,
you just have our documentation. As I said, the API is super simple. And since our arcade runs on
a deterministic virtual machine, it also runs inside the browser. What's really cool about our
documentation is that, for instance, this tutorial for creating a snake game, you actually have the
code snippets starting from just drawing a title screen and evolving that.
And on each step of the way, you can actually run a cartridge
with this code and see it on your browser how it works.
So the first one is just a title screen, doesn't do much.
But then as you go on, you start drawing some stuff,
getting the game to start, And you start drawing apples,
and then you do a moving snake that doesn't grow yet.
So let me play a bit here.
So as you can see, you can eat,
but it just doesn't grow because you don't have the code.
And you evolve up to the point
in which you have an actual complete snake game
with sprites and everything.
It's been a lot of times on people watching me play, right?
And then if you go on playing, you actually have the platform in which you have the cartridges.
All these cartridges, they're submitted on chain, so you can check the transactions in which they were submitted.
I do like a lot this one, which is a super cool platformer.
And you can play on your computer.
On your phone, you can just play if you have an external controller
But in here, I'm going to play with a controller, for instance.
So it has some really cool aesthetics,
kind of like the Mega Man reminds me, especially because you die
if you hit this spikey stuff.
And what's cool about Rives is that we
have a lot of customization, right?
And we really want the community of the games
So whenever you build a game on Rives,
it receives inputs that customize the game.
And also, the game exports some metrics,
which the community can make new stuff.
So Anticopter, for instance, if you define a tournament in which
you say, hey, what's important on your score is speed,
then it becomes a speed running game.
But if you say, no, precision matters and not dying,
all this stuff, then instead of just going through the level
as fast as you can, it just becomes
a precision and skill game.
And you can do the same with any game on the platform.
So you don't have to be a developer, you can just create new ways of playing the game.
The community can explore new stuff around it.
So this game here, the default rule, which is the one I'm playing, has a lot of lives.
So I'm just going to leave here.
And whenever you're done playing, you can just submit it on chain.
So this one is a tape that was interrupted.
And I don't think you guys are going to see, but I'm confirming the transaction right here.
Yeah. This is the transaction on base that sent to the gameplay.
You see? So if you check here,
you're going to see the payload.
So this is actually all the encrypted movements that I made while playing.
And that goes to the Rive app chain, and it's verified.
Now, whenever you're done on that,
you can share on X and just show something funny you did,
something stupid, or something epic.
And all these game plays as they're on chain,
you can just come here and just rewatch them.
So as soon as the appain processes them and verifies,
they're going to appear here.
So here you have all the gameplays from previous players.
Yeah, that's our objective, like making a decentralized Steam,
right, allowing everyone to just come,
to their game communities, and get value from that.
We're about to start the economic stuff in here.
And the idea is that forever.
Let me give you just a simple example of Minecraft.
So I have a kid that watches all these Minecraft streams
And the streamer obviously get a lot of money
out of partnerships or funding platforms.
But the guy that does all these mods in which they play,
So our idea here is actually enabling everyone
on the gaming community to make money and get value
So it would be lovely if people join our Discord
and help us on this mission.
And as I said, all the cartridges, all the gameplays,
everything is just on-chain, so it's fully transparent.
Yeah, go throw up the Twitter one last time,
let everyone go take a look.
And then Q, get get ready you're next okay so yeah uh this is just an
overview of the platform hope you guys like and enjoy later carlo thank you so much really
appreciate it love it i'm glad that we have uh games on here as well definitely naturally at home there
pretty much a daily gamer on my side um but yeah just for a little bit of an intro i'm the founder
i'm q the founder of lumino labs we are a venture development studio currently just focused on
building enterprise solutions to bring the world on-chain. Very simple focus, trying to work with Web2 and Web3 enterprises
to optimize all their on-chain activity.
For a demo, I think the best thing I could show would be AcceptUSDC.
This is an initiative that we're working in tandem with QuinnBase Wallet,
primarily focused on onboarding merchants to accept USDC at brick and mortar stores.
So expanding the base footprint IRL.
So this is the accept USDC website recently was just remodeled.
Essentially, like I mentioned, the main focus is hitting brick and mortar.
So very heavy on in-person IRL conversations.
We have team members going out daily, weekly, meeting with
stores. But this is pretty much serving as a directory and an information hub for any merchants
that want to accept USDC and get on chain. So right now we're almost over a hundred stores
across the world. We have a ton of locations here on the directory and we have sign up links as well
on the site. So if you want to register as a
merchant for example you can do that if you want to check the directory or register as an ambassador
you could do that as well but yeah that's a little bit of a gist on accept usdc generally
we're working on five to ten projects at a time so it's pretty much just a matter of internal
versus external partner versus only internal Luminode project.
Yeah, happy to be here. Nice to meet everyone.
And thank you so much for joining us.
Yeah, I tried to bring in some builders from all across the industry.
There were supposed to be a couple more DeFi builders with us today,
but it seems we over leveraged on the gaming side.
So our DeFi folks weren't able to come by, but that's okay.
We'll have more panels in the future with more use cases.
So the general gist of this panel is about on-chain use cases
and highlighting what builders are currently building.
So I'm really glad to have you all today.
Drux, if you are available,
I would love to have you give a quick introduction about yourself if you all today. Drucks, if you are available, I would love to have you give a quick introduction
about yourself if you're here. All right, yo, BM, BM everyone, BM Wingo, BM Luciano, BM Carlo,
BM Quay, BM Zach Pretor, like, okay. I am Mohamed, I am a based global leader from Africa. I'm happy to be here.
global leader from africa i'm happy to be here thank you thank you so much for for joining us
today um zach and you're the last one yeah so howdy everyone uh i'm a base builder and i'm also a
developer and also minorly non-developer uh i've organized about 13 base game jams, about four different base hacker houses, five different
game nights. So that's why we have a few different, that's why we're game heavy for this call.
But I'd love to ask a question specifically to Q and Carlo, if that's fine. And I'll phrase it
in a really cool way. Q, you're really focused on in-person brick and mortar
and onboarding Web2 people into Web3.
Carlo, you're focused on bringing the 1.3 million Twitch games
or itch.io games into Web3.
What's that process for y'all bringing those people from Web2 into Web3?
Carlo, you can take it first.
So it's really challenging, right?
Because what we're trying to do is something that appeals to core gamers.
So we want to fund games that they're excited that they can play with your
friends, have challenges, express their own games.
I mean, AI is here for you to vibe AI your own game, right?
But the way that blockchain was intro'd to traditional gamers
is kind of like yet another microtransaction stuff, right?
So if you talk to most of the traditional gamers,
when you talk about blockchain, they have this bad taste in their mouth, right?
Like, I'm going to buy my game and then I'm going to buy an expansion.
Then I'm going to buy a DLC.
I'm going to have to pay my transactions.
And now you want to stick NFTs on me, right?
So, yeah, we're trying to do something that's different, right?
Like, for instance, Dota.
It moves millions every year.
You have Dota 2 on Steam, which was developed by Evolve.
You have multi-million dollar championships in there.
But it all started with Warcraft 3 mod.
And the guy that created it, he didn't get anything out of it.
So we really want to show to the traditional gaming community
that we want to do this in an open way, in an inclusive way,
in which everyone can bring their own ideas, create value,
and actually get what they deserve
out of it and not just uh having someone else getting rich and uh just getting a bit of glory
or recognition that's it right so i think that's the main challenges that that we're facing no that
was a really good explanation uh i'll hand it to Q next as it's a big gap.
Yeah, it's definitely an interesting place to be within the market. I think it's pretty much in one
of the most important areas. As everybody acknowledges, one of the most critical parts of
any consumer layer is how many consumers are actually on the layer using apps and
doing things that are productive in their daily lives. And specifically for payments, because that is one of the few places
that we're focused on, there's obviously a ton of fintech web to infrastructure that we almost have
to just put side by side on a spreadsheet and run all the numbers against basically showing every
merchant how they can benefit. But it is an odd scenario because most of the time, like Carlo mentioned,
the assumption when they hear, oh, let's accept crypto is like,
oh, why would I want to accept the meme coin that's going to go down 90%?
Or why would I want to accept Bitcoin and I don't know where it's going to go?
Most people don't even know what a stablecoin is.
And so a big part of this is just informing the Web2 audience,
informing the enterprises the users the
merchants at every level we need more information and education but once they actually understand
the baseline knowledge they know why an ethereum l2 can save them money versus ethereum mainnet
costs it's pretty much always a smooth transition as soon as they have the information in front of
them it's like oh why wasn't i doing this sooner
that's true that's a really good way to phrase it you know and uh i'm probably gonna have a list of questions i hope that's fine uh luciano do i get a do i get a thumbs up for my questions
yep yep no you're all good to go zach is gonna be your host for for this panel um the last thing
i'll say is if you haven't sent your base address in the chat yet, make sure you go send your base address. If you don't have a base
address yet, send your ENS, send your ETH address, and I'm doing my best to help everyone who needs
help to get a base address. So do that the best you can, and then I'll let you guys take it from
it from here. I'm going to turn my camera off, but I'll be here if you guys need anything.
here. I'm going to turn my camera off, but I'll be here if you guys need anything.
Sure thing. So I obviously have a list of questions. And since we started off with how
we're onboarding builders and just kind of the process for that, after you've onboarded
either an institutional client for Q or a game developer for Carlo,
or a game developer for Carlo,
what is that process of making sure
that they're comfortable in base?
What advice do you have for new builders
coming into the base ecosystem?
And I'm probably going to hand this off to Wing
as he is a new base builder.
He's building, launching, and scaling his own game.
So Wing, what advice do you have for new builders?
What advice I have for new builders?
Honestly, the best advice, honestly,
is probably just to connect with the base builders.
Anyone who's on the base ecosystem, join a community, whether it's Telegram,
it could be an NFT community, meme community,
whatever you're interested in,
maybe you can find a community
that has a specific interest
that you're looking to develop on
and just join the community,
learn a little bit more about what is happening
And yeah, just go from there have that would be my best guess
all right can I hand it hand it off to drugs drugs what uh what advice do you have for new base
builders all right for me I would say like stay bullish that like um for starter newbies coming to base,
first thing that I'm going to like on my own end
or on how I get started with bases,
at first looking through the ecosystem
I feel like for like some days or some weeks
to check out the base ecosystem works.
Then later on I went through the SDKs,
the tools like smart wallets on chain kits um
mini apps and the likes so like i mean i was not like around back then but i tried to like
go through everything that's that it's about the building part that is on that base then after
looking into it then i started thinking of some that's a want to build and from there
i started contributing to every post every literally every post made by every base builder
i tried to contribute to it like so that i'll be known and i'll be known by every base builder that
way they will believe in you they'll believe they are not just yet to like to collect the money but
you are here to contribute so i'll advise advisory base build out there to like connect with any base reader that you know like they should like they appear that timeline should
be based post very based post like now it's based on your interaction based
so you're going to see time is based on based post people like statute like states where it's like
i salute that she she's one of the best out there when it comes to me,
when it's coming to base.
I salute people like her,
you know, Cocoa Coats, Gcash,
when it's content and the likes.
So I would like you to like stay bullish
and engage on every base post.
That's how you get started from.
Just contribute to every post
and it's going to help you get started with base
What advice do you have for new Web2 gamers coming into Web3,
specifically coming to base?
Well, I'd say there's a couple of things, right?
So communities, let's say, way more important, I think,
So keeping in touch with the community is crucial.
There are a lot of things that, well, we got to figure out better solutions, right? How to make it a simpler experience, especially for people that never touch crypto.
So wallets are challenging, all this stuff.
Sometimes you have to compromise a bit to get better usability, but you shouldn't compromise too much on security. Do get on the communities
all the time. Unfortunately, we have a lot of scammers. The best way not to be caught on a scam
is just to talking to other people, sharing experiences.
The community keeps itself safe, right?
And in order to do that, you've got to be there.
You've got to share what's going on.
And you should rely on others to help secure you as well.
And when you connect to others, when
you collaborate with others, well, all the projects
they grow together, right?
In Web 2, generally, people see each other as competitors.
And in Web 3, I think all the projects see themselves
a bit more like partners, right?
So there's a shift in mentality as well.
So I guess those are my two cents.
That was a really good overview.
And then someone I'm really excited to hear from next is Q.
Q, how do you onboard the Web2 brick and mortar stores into Web3?
And yeah, what advice do you have for people trying to build those payment rails that you say that we need?
Yeah, one of the biggest things, and Carlo mentioned, is just staying resilient.
They will definitely tell you no.
You have to get comfortable with being turned down.
But the biggest thing that we can tell them is really the raw benefits,
just tracking exactly what their experience is currently
and at which turns being on base is better, more efficient, more supportive.
Generally beyond brick and mortar for builders or individuals,
one of the biggest things I recommend is just getting on Farcaster. The base community on
Farcaster is extremely wide open arms, happy to help any builder find any information they need
on that. But yeah, the biggest thing is just be loud. People will help support you and you'll get
all the information you need. I like that. I like that. And I feel being loud kind of goes for any builder in any ecosystem or any market.
So I think we've talked about a lot of interesting things for new builders that are coming.
I'm sure you all have seen Twitter. There's the base batches that are being launched.
There's a new base build-a-thon
that's gonna be coming soon.
What are some applications
that you'd like to see people build on base?
What are some things that you think we need
And to hand it off, I'll hand it off to Wing again,
Wing, what would you love to see
in the base ecosystem for new builders?
For new builders, what would I like to see in the ecosystem?
It can be anything from new games or specifically new tooling that you think people need, such as Unity SDKs and so on.
I mean, it would be nice to have more toolings for Unity,
but in general, having a little bit of a blank here,
but there's probably a lot of applications that is needed.
And I know the on-chain dev kit,
there's a lot of things on it that offers easy onboarding,
the Coinbase wallet. Just blanked out a little bit. You can come back to me maybe in the next
next speaker. Drugs, what about what about you? What are some things you'd love to see people
build on base, especially for the next the next build-a-thon?
base especially for the next uh the next build-a-thon
oh okay like for me like there are a lot of things but i don't have much ideas for now
but when it comes to the mini case course on the island on stuff we have the mini-kits track, the Anodax.
So when it comes to the mini-kits,
no, mini-kits FCO like with video for Castler frames,
so you can interact with applications on for Castler
and adding the stuff to your for Castler profile.
So like I would say like for you,
there are many items of ideas for mini apps to be built.
I saw that, I can't remember the person that posted this stuff,
but I know that there are a lot of suggestions from,
his name, DWR, find out DWR.
You guys, can you guys like, okay, that is DWR.
I think he posted like, was 30 30 to 50 different mini apps
you'd love to see i think it was yeah i think it's like 70 70 plus wow he must have been really
bored one day that's crazy yeah so like there are tons of mini mini apps like yeah they probably to
help builders i would try searching for it now during the code and I will paste it in the comments for builders to check it out. Yeah, please do. And to hand it off to
someone that is probably a little bit busy, Luciano, you've hosted a plethora of gaming
or a plethora of hacker events. You have your own hacker community. What's something that
you'd like to see be built on base?
So what I, and I actually was going to bring this up earlier in the on-chain use cases session,
but we kind of got carried away with what we were already talking about.
But what I really, really want to see is more public goods allocation tooling.
I'm working with a local government in Japan right now to allow these citizens to allocate some tax dollars to local public goods and to local impact. So we need more
on-chain mechanisms that actually allow this sort of allocation for real people, for real goods,
real life common goods like public parks, community gardens, playgrounds, you name it.
This is the real, like, this is the shining example of what crypto solves.
And outside of like the necessities, like payments, stable coins, savings,
I think like this is the real use case of crypto.
We bring the next billion users on chain, quote unquote, by actually solving real problems for them.
And I believe that's public goods funding and building real allocation mechanisms that people actually use.
I love that you brought that up.
Have you looked into Jesse Pollack's, was it Oak City 3 for Oakland?
It's really cool. So Q, I'm curious what you think about the public goods
funding. Yeah, it's funny. I was actually going to say I want to see more things happening like
Base Builder Rewards and the Talent Protocol partnership with Base. I think right now that's
just barely touching the surface of what we can do when a massive on-chain economy comes together and has funding
available for builders results oriented which is most important i think we've obviously been in the
early stages of the industry we've seen some issues with dow's proposals getting through
that aren't necessarily in good faith we need more results driven rewards and i think talent
protocol is definitely leading in that sector for sure.
And real quick, speaking about rewards,
like, I mean, most of the people here
are familiar with Farcaster to some extent.
So how do they, how do the Farcaster native builders
feel about Dan and the team not giving any sort of grants
to the ecosystem, but now doing like the leaderboards for not only casters,
but now mini apps as well.
Very curious to hear people's thoughts on that.
Yeah, personally, I love it.
It's been a very interesting thing for me to also use
to onboard people to Farcaster,
which I've been trying to do since I got on early last year.
It's just a hard thing to convince someone from what they're used to,
And then once you tell them,
oh, you could actually be earning from this
and get this stake in a decentralized community.
It's a perfect example of what we want happening on chain,
in the real world, on your phone right now,
download Warpcast, use it.
It just feels really, really good to be a part of for sure.
I kind of have to agree. I feel like it's a,
it's a different type of ecosystem itself at the, at the last game night,
we had a, an amazing builder, the, the founder of Farmville.
He was presenting his application,
which I believe is probably one of the top 10, if not top one,
top five applications on, on Farcaster. And it not only
provides a distribution platform, but it provides a different way for for builders to kind of get
that excitement. And monetize too. Yeah, yeah. Drucks, what about you? Have you been building on farcaster at all drugs would you like to share
all right so like um like i've been hooked up lately but um i started the i started building
the around the world game where it's like i use who knows candy crochet candy crush
like i use who knows candy crochet candy crush yeah it's like candy crush and but i use images
of beast builders like these builders like the matching theory stuff if i can share my screen
can i share my screen to present yeah yeah go for it okay yeah click present and share screen and I'll add it to the stage.
Can you see my screen now?
Like, I see I have a lot to do.
I'm welcome to Feedbacks.
Build me in public, baby. Yeah, just click match.
I'm using this video that's here.
And it's giving me a platform.
so you're going to have to join the gaming night sometime.
Although I'm waiting for Lusiando or Satuit's photo to be on there.
They'll be there eventually.
So since we're on the topic of Farcaster and, you know, just kind of the distribution,
Carlo, I know Rives isn't too big on Farcaster yet.
What's your thoughts on building on Farcaster versus building on Twitter?
It's really kind of a different marketing monster, but it's the target audience for every Web3 dApp.
Yeah, Twitter definitely has more reach,
but if you think about Web3,
then Farcaster is more accurate, right?
You don't get anyone that doesn't know how to use a wallet
Like everyone is basically cryptonavid in there. You don't get anyone that doesn't know how to use a wallet or anything like that.
Everyone is basically crypto-native in there.
So I think it's easier to get a targeted web-free audience if you're aiming for a forecaster than Twitter.
That said, I still think there's a lot of improvement that should be done, especially on onboarding.
I mean, I'm a crypto-native and I had issues because I had to pay with a Warpcast with a credit card.
And then Google Pay wouldn't accept it here.
So in the end, I could only join Farcaster
when someone donated the subscription to me,
which is kind of crazy, right?
Because I mean, I should be able to just get some USDC
or something in there and just pay for it without having a centralized
payment gateway saying no because this is suspicious, this is getting from some crazy
place or something like that. What's here and there, I think it's great. It's always evolving
and it's evolving really fast. It's getting a lot of new features that help integrate with your web-free application,
Kind of gives it's giving you the vibe of the Telegram mini
apps, right, in which you just stay there, you do your stuff,
and you sign your things, you act on your applications.
I think at some point, it might be even the main entry point
for crypto people to interact with your application.
I can kind of agree just because seeing not only the growth of Farcaster,
but how easy it is to distribute tokens and rewards to your users on that platform,
it kind of makes it the perfect community for memes, such as DGIN.
going to wait and see whenever
Farcaster app store, you know,
with flooding it with new games.
I think that would be cool.
Yeah, looking forward to it, too.
Wing, are you on Farcaster at all?
Yes, I just joined this year, actually, early on this year.
And so what do you think of the platform?
And as a founder and game developer,
what do you think of the benefits of Farcaster versus Twitter?
Well, for Farcaster and Twitter, Carlo raised many good points.
But I used to be a very good advocate Facebook, Instagram user.
And back in the days, you don't get paid for making content.
You don't get a dime, even if you have a lot of followers whatsoever.
It's based off external links, your merch or whatsoever.
you know, the meta is actually changing. Facebook is trying to do paying people through views and stuff like that. If you're monetized or if you're on the paying program, but for Farcaster,
you can just jump right in. You can do play different games, interact with different frames,
win some tokens. It's a completely different ballgame, and it's very interesting to see how things like that develop.
People or companies are probably now paying attention to stuff like this,
where how do you reward the people on your platform and make them actually use it
and make them feel good and come back and actually contribute to the overall ecosystem.
So I think times are changing, and I've been on the social media platform for a long time,
not just Twitter itself, like Twitter itself has been a huge improvement or X since back
Their focus is completely different.
And I feel like all of these social giants are changing the way in terms of how they
And I think rewarding creators is very important.
And rewarding the users on it is also important.
I think we have an anonymous KOL in our group.
No, I used to be a big gamer.
Well, for a specific game.
have one last question for everybody.
I'm sorry to annoy you all with the questions,
see base batches going on.
We're having an event in almost
every region, every country
globally. I think there's anywhere
high-end 60 events that are going to be
going on for the next few months. It's really easy for people to be connected, join the base
community locally, host the events, different things like that. Base matches is leading up to
on-chain summer to where it's an online hackathon to where people can kind of build whatever they
want. And last on chain summer there were
a lot of amazing projects that came out there and i saw a lot of people build something for on chain
summer and then launch it and scale it into a company after such as based mc which came out of
on chain summer instantly built their product built a community launched the community got distribution
what advice do you all have for these builders that are joining this online hackathon
to just keep building and then actually turn their hackathon idea
into a legitimate product for people to use?
And I'm going to hand it to someone that I've personally done a hackathon with.
Carlo, what advice do you have for hackers coming out of a hackathon
how do they how do they get to where you are well i guess it's a lot of sweat a lot of cursing and
a lot of uh i don't know happiness once things work right because when you do a poc uh you
basically ignore everything that makes a product, like stability, like all the crazy stuff that people can do.
You say, yeah, I'm going to deal with that later, right?
But then when you actually have a product, it should work.
People cannot lose their assets.
You have a stake in there, right?
And that it's a lot of work, a lot of frustration,
And it's a lot of work, a lot of frustration.
but also a lot of happiness when you see people using it
and having fun and doing all this stuff, right?
So I think the Hackathon is like the place in which you have
that initial spark of creativity and you get enthusiastic.
You might pull one all nighter or two,
but the grinding really comes when you build a product,
because that's when you must acquire a community, which
is super hard and super important, keeping the community happy,
hearing them, getting feedback, all this stuff.
You've got to be flexible, because what you think is the best,
it's the best probably for you.
And when you're building, you're building for the best, it's the best probably for you.
And when you're building, you're building for the community, not for yourself.
So that's a super important thing to keep in mind.
And yeah, it's a bumpy road.
So you should just stay on course, stay motivated, and go for it.
That's really good advice.
And quick lore on me and Carlos' hackathon in the past.
It was the ETH Global hackathon.
Friday night, we probably stayed up till 4 a.m.
Saturday night, we probably stayed up till 4 a.m.
And then Sunday, we probably maybe missed submission by one minute or the youth global website crashed
it's it's not a real hackathon unless the the submission website crashes
and the internet doesn't work let me guess they didn't uh they didn't let you guys submit
no they they still let us submit. Still, we crashed after that.
All right, I'm going to hand it to Luciano next.
You've done a plethora of hacker-focused events.
You've worked with a series of founders.
What advice do you have for hackers to make that leap from hacking to founding?
I have won enough public goods tracks at ETH Denver to know that
the grind does not come without sweat and blood, just as Carlos said. And the outcome is fun,
you know. So at the end of the day, it's all worth it. But it is a lot of blood, sweat and tears to
get there. But I will say I'll echo pretty much one trope that everyone here said today,
and this was also a big theme of yesterday, was just get in touch with the base community,
get in touch with more base builders. If you have any questions about what to build, how to build it,
what tooling exists, just start reaching out to people, start asking people for help,
go into the base community and just ask everyone, ask anyone. These are
people, we are people that will answer any question about anything and we're happy to do it.
So like there are people willing to help you. A lot of people, especially like founders and
builders, like, you know, like Q, Carlo, Drucks, you know, all the people here today, Wing, Zach,
et cetera. Maybe these people don't have much time because they're grinders they're
builders and you know they're they're heads down building almost 24 7. but there's a lot of people
within the community even even strong high quality builders that that will work with you that will
collaborate with you and even if i'm busy today zach will be free today and then i'll be free
tomorrow when zach's busy so So just keep reaching out to people
until somebody responds and somebody answers your question in the way that you were looking for,
because somebody will. And even if I don't today, I probably will tomorrow. And that's true for most
people in crypto. That's so true. And I have to admit, I'm not necessarily big on Farcaster,
but doing these different events with the different home-based community, every single day, they're willing to shield me on Farcaster.
Every single day, they're like, cast something, post something, let us retweet something, let us do something.
I've yet to take them up on that offer because I'm not on social media.
But I have to admit, the entire home-based team, they really are the home of the base ecosystem.
And if there's any founders that are looking for a community to get connected with,
I think that's the immediate home.
Next, I'll hand it over to Wing.
Wing, what advice do you have for people to jump from hackathon to founding their own company?
I know that you've been building since 2021,
so I imagine you have a plethora of advice for people.
Yeah, and it's a very full game.
So, like, yeah, don't leave me out.
Well, first of all, I started out as a lead for the project
and kind of worked my way up.
But yeah, there was a lot of, you know, when meta comes and meta goes,
there's a lot of things that you have to realize.
There's long-term builders, there's short-term builders, right?
So there's a lot of things where you want to put the pieces together,
what's important to Web3 ethos, like for ownership,
whether it's like digital asset ownership or on-chain avatars,
There's just like for us, we tried a bunch of other things
and we kind of worked towards what Web3 core is,
where it's like ownership, the idea of owning digital assets,
the aspect of financialization so you
playing to earn rewards or something along that lines uh socialization uh so we're trying to
piece everything together it's it's kind of like a trial and error i would say it takes a lot of time
and to build the actual community that's that's whole different ballgame. You need to put in a lot of effort.
I'm trying to wrap up the idea of, you know, speaking a little bit more, getting to know more people, talking to the communities, leaders, whoever it may be.
I'm kind of, like, more open to the idea.
important things that we have missed because you're so heads down building and thinking about
like what could be the next thing or um what could be something that you could build that kind of
scales how do you get web3 native users that is not like a hundred dollars per user in a sense
right uh versus how do you bring that to the web2 level you have to kind of like target a specific
niche in my opinion so that's why we're
going around the idea of speed running there is an audience in web 2 but how do we get them to web 3
that's that's the whole ball game uh but i do think ultimately you have to start at web 3 native first
uh and kind of work your way towards you know onboarding through the idea of the financial
like winning rewards from being a good gamer,
like just something simple like that or owning your actual avatar
and earning something, a part of it could be a badge.
It could be being recognized, showcasing them on Twitter
or a forecaster about their accomplishments and stuff like that.
So that's the way we're going towards it
and hopefully it works out
and there's a lot of work
put into it and shout out to the team.
They have been in the space for a long time
working on a lot of projects.
here today and hopefully we can
Luciano, did you have something to say before I hand it?
I was going to say the Midas touch.
And we also do have two questions from the community.
And so if you haven't answered the question that Zach posed, feel free to do that as well.
But one more question that we need to pose is
Asante asked how much of the state is saved on-chain
for most of these on-chain games.
And then Q, you got a specific question about
if you've been able to make any headway with
larger big box merchants, except in USDC.
I know, and they also prefaced that question with,
I know that's a big undertaking.
Yeah, we'll go to Q first. I like. So yeah, that's definitely on the table.
It is also a large undertaking.
So it's much more of a corporate partnership conversation, right?
Longer term rather than right now, physically targeting, for example,
a taco truck where you can go on the side of the street.
You can talk to the owner directly because most of them are owner operators, some of them are,
and you can actually get that direct connection. So we've definitely had conversations, some still
ongoing. But right now, the biggest that you could go to would be pre-existing payment solutions
rather than what we're building is accepting USDC directly on base right so it is
slightly different although both of them generally are accepting crypto at checkout um yeah for us
right now we're focused specifically on small businesses for now I think that's too yeah the
the next question is going to be for Carlo and wing I I'll probably hand it to Carlo first.
What or how much of the game state is actually saved on-chain
whenever people play your game?
So in our case, as I was saying before,
pretty much everything is on-chain.
So what happens is that when you create your game,
you submit your cartridge on-chain.
So when you enter Rives.io and you want to play a game,
what's happening is you're downloading that cartridge
that the creator submitted on chain.
And it's being plugged into this deterministic RISC-V virtual
machine running in your browser.
And it's running in a fully deterministic way,
logging every single input you provide,
like you press right, you jump, all this stuff.
Once that's done, we compress this in a very efficient way,
and we submit it on chain.
So anyone can just pick up the cartridge, pick up the gameplay,
reproduce it, and should achieve every single bit of competition
And yeah, what happens is once that happens,
we have our app chain from Rives.
And one of our validators will pick it up.
We'll process the entire match that happened on your browser.
We'll check, oh, OK, cool.
You ended it in 50 seconds.
And it's going to play on the ladder in there.
So yeah, everything in Rives, everything is verifiable.
Everything is transparent. Everything is there.
Is there any piece that's not
app chain is theoretically off-chain,
right? Because you have an external
in our case, our app chain is backed by
So it's still disputable on base, right?
I'd say technically everything is on chain.
It's just cool because most times you have to ask games like,
hey, which part is on chain?
And here it's like the opposite.
Like, hey, is there any part that's off chain so it's really no no in our case everything is on change which
is why it's it's super challenging making it yeah yeah super cool all right next is for next is for
wing how much of the how much of the game is actually on chain yeah i would just like to say
man having everything on chain is actually really challenging, probably. So kudos to you. But for us, you know, we started off off chain to try out the MVP product. So we did host a competition in 2022. We gave away a lot of money. And then we kind of worked away on building the actual platform itself. So right now it's still off-chain, so we're still working towards making things on-chain,
but we're looking at the idea where the assets,
we're trying to not put everything on-chain yet.
We're trying to figure things out,
and then we're going to put things on-chain.
The leaderboard, the competition, the reward system,
The skins, yeah, the potion types,
the shop, and stuff like that. Those
are going to be on-chain.
The player movement, though, I'm
But we will, you know, work our way towards
releasing different parts
on-chain. I think that's what we were thinking for now. But we will work our way towards releasing different parts on chain.
I think that's what we were thinking for now.
It's incredibly challenging.
I can't even believe Carlo can compress it enough to put it on chain.
Yeah, it sounds really difficult.
A quick reminder for everyone to send in your base names as well.
If you haven't sent your base name or your ENS or your ETH address, do that now. Send your base name or DM me on haven't sent your base name or your ens or your eth address do that
now uh send your base name or dm me on how to get a base name yeah i gotta say uh wing it it makes
me excited for uh the the future of fox area you know like uh saying that everything is coming
fully on chain or and it's it's exciting yeah so uh if you have any questions,
feel free to send them in the comment section.
I'm going to keep rambling.
And yeah, feel free to ask questions.
Q, I've got a question for you.
What advice do you have for people
that want to go from hacker to founder?
With the upcoming hackathon, I'm curious.
You say that there's a lot of payment rails
for people to be able to build.
What advice do you have if they want to challenge themselves?
One of the biggest things I would say is just quickly sprint to an MVP.
In all the projects that we've worked on and had success with,
the biggest benefit comes from user iteration
and actually having something
tangible that people can touch use break and just give you feedback on so quickest one-liner is
build an mvp quickly and shipped updates to that regularly um quick shout out for a team that i
think does this really well the icebreaker team every single week jack is posting updates about
what they recently built what
features they added things i i send them a request or find something that was an issue
they look into it they respond just be aware of what your users actually want
and build more things for them
it's really well said uh drex do you have do you have any advice on
on builders turning into founders or yeah
okay all right for me i would say like i've participated in a cat on squads of akatons and
like uh let's like uh we we are my team we that perspective of making building this into a startup did like
the idea where we're going to talk to each other and say like don't let us abandon this project
if we win this money let's keep on building this project like we have that perspective but after
we win the money we just the team will just scatter and like that's that's common among many
builders out there i know most of them have the perspective of building it further but
it's just it's it's like it's a trend people just like leave the project and draw another stuff
pass in other videos and other patterns so like one thing one of the best like method is incubate incubation program and that
is what base budget is doing i i the idea of base budgets like i know when it comes to projects like
participating in that catwalk and you want to like build something like a startup if you didn't
like start the project like you are you don't you don't have the perspective of participating
in an account and you want to just spend your money and you can be able to build the mvp and achieve the products damage you are not
participating in the inside and hackathon or something but you have the you are using your
own money to do that but if you have the perspective in participating in build that
and the likes it would be it would be good for the build that tone to have maybe an incubation program for projects
to keep on building so and i think like that what base batches is doing this time around i know the
best thing we might have it should i run and think of what better way to help builders keep building
and this the the incubation program is one of the best for me that's well said and i i agree with
you that base batches is doing it perfectly
because after the hackathon's over there's a there's a incubation program and it's not just
any incubation program there's a massive prize for it as well everyone's going to be demoing
uh i think it's an amazing opportunity for for anyone including some existing founders that
would have claimed that they're building something new.
Who knows? I might even join. I do have one last question just because I know we have to wrap it up
and we have to wrap it up on a good note. Why are you building on base? Like what's,
what's so special about base to you? Is it, is it your home base or is it just,
Is it the ecosystem, the people?
And I'm going to hand this off to the home base founder himself, Luciando.
I'll rattle off one really quick thing that Jock said about just communication among the team.
That was such an important point that most people really don't focus on. But if you have solid communication between your team,
I mean, you guys will be able to do anything together.
It's when you stop iterating and you stop communicating
that everything falls apart.
So building MVP and iterating on it is super, super important
But if you don't communicate with your team,
you'll never even get there.
So I really love that point from Drax. But yeah, Zach, I think we went over this in extent
on the last session yesterday, and most people continued to come back to how valuable the
base community is and how the network effects here are just something that they've never seen anywhere else. And it's true. Base really has become the home for most people within the Ethereum
ecosystem, not only for cheap transaction fees, but also just for community and for participating
in a community that has amazing vibes, has amazing momentum, and really does make you enthused about
building for the future. And when you're building something for the future, you really want people
to be excited about it or else, you know, you feel like there's no reason to build it.
That's so true. So true. Wing, I'm going to hand it to you next. Why are you building on base?
Why am I building on base?
Why am I building on base? Because base is base. As simple as that.
Honestly, well, you know, when we first looked at the ecosystem, we saw base.
And we saw how active Jesse was, how active the leader was, how many faces you actually see in the ecosystem.
I think there was a trust built in there, right?
And then it slowly expanded. And then it just went, like, built in there, right? So there's, and then it slowly expanded and then it just went like kind of crazy, right?
I think the value there was immense.
Just people connecting, even the communities
when you entered NFTs or mean communities
is just a little bit different,
maybe because it was new, not exactly sure,
but just seeing a lot of leaders showing their face,
talk about things, making the smaller people feel welcomed,
bigger people as well, obviously.
And just the amount of people that they keep onboarding,
There's just new things coming out every time on base.
It's like they ship a product, they make it better.
They ship a product, they make it better.
Just for everybody that is on base.
So that's why we kind of started, you know,
shifting our attentions to base.
And when we did that, there was also not a lot of L2s building.
And they were, okay, there were, but Bass was the loudest one.
And we're just going to keep getting louder.
Drugs, why are you building on Bass?
Okay, because Bass is home.
And it's bringing the next global and the next global economy in Unchain
like what Jesse says like me coming to base I came from the Solana ecosystem always like
but after the Unchain summer uh after pasting Unchain summer I had no way in the Buildathon
but I just like I don't know what like I didn't just stop interacting with this
and Twitter and the likes this just because whenever I interact with them I
get a repost from them I get replies from them like it just felt like home
it's felt like this the real deal I just kept building I guess building getting
response from the founder himself getting followed by this itself like it
was like something new like I
felt like this is home that's why I kept speeding on this and I whenever I had to go to other it's
I'll attend many it's a theorem events with other chains there but I'm big talk about base to like
to onboard new people to base cause like I don't know probably but it just this like as if it's something like
experience that is making me just keep on building it's because of the support from the base builders
from the base builders out there like they are not proud they are not they just support everyone
and i love the mission of bringing the next global energy economy global people on chain
I like it. I like it. And I think everyone building on base has the exact same mission as base, bringing everybody on-chain, building that global economy that we all wanted it to be.
Not to rant a little bit, but let's hand it off to Q. Q, why exactly are you building on-base?
Yeah, I think the alignment is really the biggest thing. Like you said, the same exact mission of bringing everybody on chain helps the chain itself grow a lot when the builders and the team running it actually have the same mission and are very aligned.
On that, just the recognition is a huge one.
The base ecosystem, the team and the builders won't hesitate to put you in the spotlight
if that's your time, if they have the option to, if they can.
And that's really something that's very uncommon in this space.
Everybody's just very selfish.
And I'd say base is very much so the opposite.
It's extremely selfless community.
Everybody is ready to help in any way they can.
it's been home since day one and it's a natural fit for everything we're doing.
To build community and to actually show that you care about people, you have to give before you
take. And BASE is the only org that has shown that they're willing to give before they take
something from people. And it is very different from most other chains and, and it is shown. So, I mean,
Wang, Q, Drux, they all brought up the point of how not only was Jesse super active and, you know,
that's one of the main reasons that base is attractive, but he actually supports builders,
you know, like individually, personally, outside of his position at base, he will happen to call
you, he will shoot the the with you in the dms
you know like this is the mentality it takes uh to actually build a real ecosystem build a real
community so true and a quick quick shout out to uh satweet as well she's uh she's pretty built as
well you can't huge shout out the the base mom come on all right carlo you're the last one why exactly is rise building on base
well we want to build a great project and to build something great you need a strong base right
so it's a great it's a great community everybody's curious and they they're willing to experiment new things.
There's a really strong sense of community.
And everyone wants to cooperate, wants to try new things, experiment, give feedback.
Transaction costs are low, so you can onboard everyone.
You don't have to spend a ton of money just to interact with applications.
Anyone can just afford a couple of cents and do whatever they want.
And also, it has a great onboarding for people that are,
let's say, getting into Web3 from buying some crypto.
There's Coinbase that bridges super well to base as well.
So you get from someone that knows nothing,
just purchase a bit of bitcoin and
instantly they're able to onboard on the applications and get into this massive world which is
the base ecosystem right well said well i think uh i think i probably went about two minutes over
i hope that's fine uh luciano do you have any any closing comments or should we just shout out homebase.love?
I'll say one last time, welcome home.
I'm so glad that you all could join us today.
Absolutely amazing session.
There will be recordings as well.
So if you want the recording, just let me know
and I'll shoot it to you.
And once again, thank you all for being here.
It's been absolutely amazing.
Thank you, Zach, for hosting and you're all incredibly base builders yeah thanks for having us thank you
bye-bye stay based everyone stay based have a good night stay based everyone stay based
