All right, lovely welcome, mate. Get together in a minute or so, get a few more people in here and we can start off. So aim to start at good
to 403 for everyone to come in. In the meantime, help us out spam anyone you can who you think can be interested in this. Hit like and retweet it well. It really helps to get more people in and get a little bit more spread on the message. Thank you.
Perfect. May you are in attendance. I think we can kick off now if you're ready to go. Yep. All right. Perfect. So thank you everyone for coming through. This is about the Radik Grants program. It's very, very exciting time for us and something we've been working on for
for quite a while now. So as it's all starting to kick off, I thought it'd be good if we could all get together and open it up for questions at the end and have the head of developer ecosystem may just introduce the program to everybody, particularly any builders who might be interested in joining the program or just wanted to look at something they can aim to do further.
further into the year. May to kick us off. Well you just I guess infurse if you can introduce introduce self to me and it does know you and then go into the grants program a little bit and just run it through what the first cohort you're going to be selecting will actually get and receive.
Sure, thanks for having me. It's a great sign that you'll be able to introduce the grants program. My name is Mae and the head of the developer ecosystem at Radix. So providing developers and builders everything to be building on Radix. We decided to launch the grants program
early this year, it's mainly to support people who have been building on redics for some for quite a while. And what we did is that we really looked at other, you know, other grants program on other layers, what seemed to be successful, what seemed to be not
successful and also interviewed a lot of people in the community and also people in other communities, so on other layers who have either received grants or offered the grants. What's super interesting, what we see and what we want to do is not only to support
the different projects financially, but also to give hands-on support as in building a company is hard, building a company in WebTree is even harder, I'd say. You must be some kind of crazy, but the good guy is crazy.
And there's a ton of knowledge in the Red XOR RDX works team which we would like to share as you know Jacob. People in our team have been building for the last what nine years along those nine years has not been like a walk in the park I'd like to say.
several winter, several regulations to buy by several bit of everything, you know, scrapping tank, rebuilding, and all of that. So, and the program is built to have all those people being able to share with the projects that I
going to join so that we can get question and answer all the best questions. It's not too, you're not going to throw a bag of money and then say come back with a dappist. Really a full amount of support. We're trying and we're trying and I'm back of money as well.
But you get the support. Yeah, yeah, no, I think that's I think that's really helpful. As you mentioned, I think a lot of people that I've spoken to going to communities meetups or in events are developers who are not 100% sure how to move forward with illegal or marketing or community management side of what
what they're building or they are the vice versa, they are a sales or market person that has an idea but doesn't particularly know how to be forward with the development side of it. And I think from the look of how this is going to be structured, it's going to make it a lot easier or really increase the chance these these teams are going to be successful. I think you may
And a little bit early when we announced it was based around Pizzer's experience doing wire combinator Can you talk us through a little bit about oh even just generally what what you found in your research into the grants program of what why you've gone? Why you've gone this this this route for the for the Radix wire
Yeah, of course. So like you just said, a lot of it is based on pure experience at the Y combinator. For those who are not familiar with the combinator is a starter program in Silicon Valley. It's also 12 weeks. There's also a lot of massacres.
class and exchange between the different funders. So we really want to take some of the best learnings that PiAS add from there and apply it to our program. Then one thing that's important to note is the first program. We only going to select five teams. And this is for us a pilot program. So while we have best learnings for
you know, PNs experience at the different interviews that we did. We still want to have, you know, not too many people so that we can work together and to finding what's best for each. So the first program is going to be quite a big tale or for each people. You know, we're going to try and we know there's like some knowledge that we can share that's
going to be useful, but we want to make sure to have a good feedback loop with the people who are coming so that they can get the best out of this program. Yeah, okay. Perfect. And the main bit of it obviously mentioned being a big bag of money. Can you explain a little bit exactly how participants actually going to receive the XRD grant or how it's how it's sort of rolled out? Yeah.
So we're going to distribute it at the beginning of the program. It's $30,000 in XRD. We have to deliver it to a company. So it's not mandatory to have a company when you apply. And if you don't, we're going to help you to incorporate one.
And then you know, you're the beginning of the program or when the company is incorporated we do of course We'll have discussion on to you know what you need or you plan on using the money and so on but we're not micromanaging everyone. We're giving you this you pilot your company, so you should be the best to know
and suspended. Okay, that's perfect. That's really, really good. And I mean, it looks like it gives them a good sort of sort of runway. What about the process where applicants receiving any additional funding? Like some of these we've noticed is a bit of scope, create that can go into some of these projects. Some are just inherently more cost heavy than others.
Is there any chance to sort of I guess extend that or add more? So from our side, this is something we will have to discuss further as we get closer to Babylon. But one goal that we have of course is to be able to introduce the different projects to other investors as well. Might it be
VCs might be community or people buying the coins into the project. We will have to see what should best the projects are entering. But definitely, we know that the 30,000 is not going to serve you for years. So our goal is to best prepare the teams to be able to fundraise ourselves.
going forward. Okay, that's actually really interesting. And what about just generally how long does this support last? So as I understand the process, you are onboarding a series of cohorts between now and Babylon. So the first, when was the first cohort? When are we looking to announce
that roughly to put you on the spot. And so the first cohort will start on February 6th. Okay. And applications are closing next Monday actually on the 16th and we have of course planned a couple of interviews right after that.
All teams that I selected should know by Friday, 20th January and then the week after that we're going to announce it, make a public announcement. Perfect. And how many are in the first cohort? So we are going to on both five teams. Okay. And just a bit of guidance for everyone listening.
So if your team isn't in one of the first five selected, is it game over for you by then or do you need to reapply for the next cohort or how will that work for teams applying? So what we want to do is give clear feedback to people. So there's only five spaces so there's more than five.
5 really amazing team building on Linux right now. And so some of them will be, you know, pretty much everyone is invited to apply them for the second cohort. It's better to create probably a new application as you might have progressed with your team. And then
Yeah, I think it's very limited. It's a bit sad for us because of course we know a lot more people than we like to support. No, no, it's unsanitary. I think with it's any more than five and wanting to once again keep this to the sort of wire combinator style we want everyone
want it, RDX works is involved in giving the right amount of love and care and attention to each team to give everyone the best possible chance to be live on Babylon and doing well and successful. My look would be a good metric initially to take in 50 teams that one is probably not the best for the people
involved in the program. Because this is a pilot launch about our program. And like I said, more will be added. How many times are you looking to have run through the program by Babylon or at Babylon?
being Kortitu and Kortitu. So we'd like to have two core hearts and before Babylon and a bit more project in the second cohort, but I can't say much more right now. We'll publish information as soon as we have for the second cohort.
Perfection you mentioned a little bit at the start but can you run through quickly for me? So like what what what what least team member get and what what have access to or what what are they actually going to be so we mentioned 30,000 XRD? Can you go into sort of a bit more detail on on what else I'll be getting?
So the program itself is 12 weeks and it starts with a week with one or two days or so in person kick off. Teams are all going to meet with the Yardierx works.
team as well in Austria and the mountains for a few time together. The idea is really to get to know each other and lay some of the base for the program there. And then each week as a series of different sessions there's going to be master classes. So
team members sharing like best practices on a lot of different things from cyber security, compliance, user testing, UX and all that. And you also will get the opportunity to have some one-to-one with those people from our team. So really did it.
We've created the support and we're finishing the program at consensus. So we invite, we give tickets to consensus for the teams that are selected to be on the booth with us there. Okay, very, very cool.
And I know we mentioned, you mentioned some of the five initially and then adding a couple more cohorts and go towards Babylon, but I guess there's still going to be a few people that are going to miss out or be disappointed. If applicants aren't successful in being picked for the grants program.
What would you suggest for them? Is there anything we can, or they can apply to anything or for they need to wait till it opens back up again completely? So if they're just smaller than them. - So we're working on them.
Yeah, so we're working on the script or challenge, which would be pretty open as well. So people can get maybe some excited from there. And otherwise we'll see how we can do. Apart from the cohorts right now, we're not planning anything.
And just in general, so can you give any sort of tips or advice for people when they're preparing their application? So when they'll the next time the grants program opens up, or if they might be able to sneak in into this one, just can you give any sort of, I guess tips or guidance or things that you're looking for?
Yes, so we're looking for what's important to know is that this program is ready to support teams or projects that are building on Redix. We're not looking to attract a lot of new projects like they are projects we're just looking to get us on
grants from all different. Our goal is really to support people here and not attract a lot of new people. So showing the traction that you had and a lot of people we know that are there and then fill the application to the best we can and we'll get back in touch with some feedback.
Perfect. I think we're open up to questions in the moment. If anyone does have anything you would like to ask maybe about the program, what goes into it, how you can get involved, or anything like that, feel free to raise your hand and we can go over that shortly. So if the killer vote is,
$30,000 USD of XRD is the grant amount and that will be given to each team who can use it as they face as they see fit. Well, sort of anyone thinks of their questions. Are there any sort of other I guess features or better
benefits you've been looking to add to the grants program in the future or any other set of capabilities or where do you as much as you can tell us where do you see it going from here. So for the first one that is really going to be you know direct the work
with the projects that I selected to really see what's the most useful and what they need the most. Of course, there's going to be support from our team, also a bit of promotion from our side, which is going to be useful. And definitely the end of the program at consensus is cherry on the cake. It's going to be amazing to be there with them.
Yeah, that's going to be really exciting time I think for the first time since all this began nine or ten years ago to get all the consistent projects together in one place and have them interacting with the public and showing off what they've done and what they've built.
to be that will be that will be really exciting. For you mentioned just to recap when when the program is closing and how do how do people apply if no one's applied if you're listening in happen to having done so
So applications are closing on the 16th, which is next Monday. Oh God, like this month is going so fast already. You can find the application form and all information on our website developers.
dot relics dlt dot com slash grins. Okay, perfect. I don't think of particularly anything else on mine. Anyone have any particular questions or I think you'd like to chat about while we're while we're all here.
Okay, that's fine if not. May is nothing else you'd like to add.
Oh, sorry. Yeah, I think we can go ahead Wilson. Oh, I had a trick question. Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt is it okay? I go ahead.
Sorry, sorry, sorry. Go ahead. So the first question is, would you consider the number one most important criteria for this election?
Good question, mate. Yeah, that's the most important is to be active in the right-wing community and I've started building a DAP in the community already.
Yeah, I think that's a really good, really good point. So from a lot of the research that the team we've done, the massive multi million dollar developer grant funds, as far as we could tell, didn't particularly have the impact that you would think for that amount of money.
I think we have, as you can see, the founder of Salana makes similar comments recently. So, this all goes back to the esophage that we have at Ardeak Works and something that feels very close to the chief product officer Matthew Heinzhardt, where he talks about this being a move
not a flash mob. So, you know, where that how that relates to this is you pay a huge amount of money for developers to flock to your sort of burgeoning layer one and set up shop and then as the grant sites are one down they desert the place and move on to the next bigger one that's probably huge amount of money and it doesn't really, you know, give your huge amount of value
overall except for some sort of maybe early marketing class. So we started this a little bit different. Started with our community first, which is the people that are behind the movement and instead of building it out from there. Well, so what was your second question? Sorry for that little second question is, it's kind
of a two-part question. So I'm hoping that project called Maya's Protocol got off the ground, right? And so we went into an issue trying to find initial investors, right? Kind of angel or, you know, we see investors. Number one issue was they view radics as a
high-risk platform. So they have a very different perspective than we do for them as high-risk because you know it's kind of new, hasn't been around, so very unwilling to invest. And then I think because of the bear market no one wants to be the first investor. They always want to see if there's somebody else first to invest and then they
They tell us to contact them after we get that first investor. So my two questions coming from that experience are, is do you think something similar would happen in, you know, the evaluation for the grants that you're looking for a project that already has, you know, some time
of initial investment because you don't want to be the first investor either. Definitely not for the Grants program. If you haven't had any investors before, it's totally fine to apply. What we want to see is that you've already started working on a app, maybe published something, maybe
already have a few users on board it, but you definitely don't need to have money from outside. And also, yes, it's the bear market, but also outside of the bear market and outside of crypto, it's hard to get. Like the first investor is always the harder to get. Our goal with the grants is also to be able to
introduce you guys to in this person show attraction. Yeah, oh, that's really cool. I think you jumped into my second question, which was that even if we don't get selected, right, let's say Maya doesn't get selected, you know, as one of the five, would you still be able to help us introduce the team to Redx friendly?
So the goal is to be able to have a platform where we show the different apps that are on Red X for investors to come and have a look. Now the help we can give to people outside of the Grenz program
will be more limited just because of resources and due diligence we can do. But definitely as soon as we have an ecosystem-based running and so on, investors will be able to see it as well. Got it. Okay. No, the last thing I had was if there's any script of developers on the call
listening that would be interesting and contributing to a pretty cool project that's going to bring Bitcoin liquidity mining to Redx, feel free to send me a message and we can talk some more, but we're working for some developers that can help us.
That's some school. Make sure to drop something in the discount and the script that is going to think there is a channel for find a partner as well. Yeah, there is. Yeah, find a partner. It's cool. Thank you.
That's called a regular question. I think predominantly, I think most of the people applying for the grant program aren't going to have large institutional backers or investors or funders again.
something coming from organically from our own community. And I dare say that will make a lot of that stuff a lot easier as we go as we go to the program. Does anyone else have any questions on the back of that?
If questions do come up as we go through, we are all very accessible. You can reach May in a lot of her team in Discord. You will see Clement and Omar and Jake haunting all
of the Rarious Crypto channels along with May herself and you can also reach her in Telegram as well if you have any questions about what's going through. This is a sort of initial intro to the grants program. You will see a lot more content
coming out over the next few months as we go through and obviously as we start to select the the chosen grant participants and invite them in. Mr. Beam one moment
Oh, you can should be at a one on mute now. Hey, um, yeah, I was gonna ask, uh, when would be the next round of, uh, grunts, uh, well, grunt around, I guess.
So definitely after the first program ends, and I think we'll end to open applications within
April, something like this, but we'll have to confirm this later. We'll make sure to share on the developer newsletter if you're there, also on our social media and Discord for sure.
But if you're hesitating, I think it's good to apply for the first cohort so that you're on the radar and then when it's time if you're not think that's one of the first one and you apply again on the second run, it's a good opportunity to show the progress you did in the team buff. Yeah, definitely. I mean, don't
I'm afraid of applying as well, like this, the remembering that we are looking to work with ecosystem projects first and reward those that are making this ecosystem this community a richer and better place. So don't be intimidated if you're like a small project.
add your adj submission we'd love to talk about a little bit more. Anyone else? Yeah so are we audible? Hello? Yeah I got you.
So I have this question like what kind of projects area you guys especially giving our drone from? I'm sorry, I couldn't get the first part That's okay. I think we think we got it is what sort of project to be looking to to add?
Yes, we can also do that.
Yeah, so all sorts of different the one that the five products. Yeah, can you guys say I made? Yeah, I can. I mean that is the question.
So, the reason I'm asking this is because we are building a watch service where in
people can which will essentially watch all kinds of blockchains, especially the EVM compatible ones and provide all the user data, especially I mean the blockchain data to build apps quite easily.
Okay, so it's free for you. So I just want it to be built for Linux or on Linux for sure. Then all sorts of different DFI apps can play. On the grand space, you can see some examples of apps we're looking at.
since it's the beginning of reddix here everything all sorts of dabs that make what's you know the base of an ecosystem is super important but we often do all sorts of different ideas it needs to be built on reddix and hopefully already have some some
kind of users it's not yet still I am gonna give you feedback on that perfect um and another question maze when is the script you're turning off a jigger but I don't hear you question
Sorry, when is the script or course re-launching soon? Very soon. We are working on it to of course adapt everything to and beta net and we are relaunch as soon as possible and Most probably before the end of the month, but you know we are with dates don't take us off on the
this we're doing our best to have it out as quickly as possible. And this is also an important point for people applying. If you are currently moving your app to better net, we know it's not that easy. We know there's a lot of things to do. So don't worry, you can feel free to apply. We know
that some stuff are a bit delayed because of that and we want to take notes on that. Okay, perfect. All right. Caviar should be able to unmute. Yeah, hi, it's all over here from Caviar. I was wondering at the very beginning of the
cool. I was wondering how many applications you've had to date so far. That would be insightful. Thanks. And today we are on the around 20 applications and I've already sent a few invitations for interviews and yeah moving on to
select the first teams. We're reviewing applications on a rolling basis. Also, no of quite a few teams who haven't applied yet. We are going to do it this week. And please do it as soon as you can. It's taking our team quite a bit of time to review. So the early earlier you can do it.
Easier it's gonna be for us. Great thanks. Anybody else? Yes. Danny. Hello everybody. Danny Toro with Lesbano LLC. Thank you for having me.
A question I'd like to ask is for those who have already put in an application for the grant, what is something that us as a team can do to further consideration outside of the application process? Is there anything that you guys look into?
not taking any bribes here so not much we can do outside of the application. We're reviewing it and reading it as we speak pretty much so you should get an update soon latest is of course on the 20th so a few days after
next week when the application starts closing. Will applicants get feedback, May? Yes, of course. Okay, beautiful. And I'm assuming that you're so based from that, Danny, you'll get a good amount.
I can't, how do you get me wrong? Sorry. I keep blocking my people here from my phone. I was saying, Danny, that you will get feedback and have another chance to apply for further cohorts as it goes along.
That's our answer to your question. Yes it does. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Perfect. Have another question from Sebastian. P.G. you should be able to now unmute yourself and speak.
whenever it chooses to connect. There you go, a special.
During the 12 weeks, is it mandatory for all of the applicants, right, all of the members of the team to participate in all of the calls or kind of be part of the team, because we are in three different continents or members, so it's really difficult to coordinate all of them.
Okay, only the time sounds. Good question. Good question. So first it's mainly for founders to add in so people who are part of the funding team and it's not necessary for everyone to follow the full program. However, we like that the people who are coming to the
in-person gathering at the beginning would be the people following up as well. As they will be one to one, barically also meetings with our team, we'd like to have the same people joining all the time so that we can really have the information following is going
not losing time with repeating different information. So essentially the few not all founders have to participate to everything, but those who do should be consistent during the 12 weeks. Is there a maximum amount of people people can bring along may or can if you've got a 15 person
team, 10% team, can you bring 10 people along? It's limited to five founders per team. If you have more founders, then that's quite the case. We haven't seen any of that, but if you have more founders, let us know.
and we'll see you all throughout that. Okay, if you go down the Ethereum route to founding your company and have 16 contributors then get in touch. Okay, perfect. Anybody else? Well, we have a nice attention. Paul, we let her go.
Perfect anyone else does any questions please drop them in discord please drop them in telegram. Before you start to see more information on the grants program as we roll out it's very very exciting time I'm personally very very excited to see the first cohorts released and then follow them along to see what they're what they're being built there's a huge amount of talent in this ecosystem and it's great
to be able to start showing a bit more support. May do you have any final points before we let it run? Of course I do. Just here I don't know what to say. This is really exciting. We're really here to build for the long term and we have this opportunity now to build the values it
our ecosystem and what's going to be there we really want to have the best way possible to support teams that are building today for them to be sustainable and last long we don't want any of those quick coming in for the grants or juice building for it and then leaving this should benefit everyone in the ecosystem really having something
that we're building together for the long one and one exclusive information for the end. If you are selected to be part of the first grants program, you'll have the chance to meet in person Jacob and have a platform and to build a community.
have so many people drop out. If this doesn't convince you, I don't know what's will. I'm gonna apologize in advance to my first set of victims. But very much looking forward to seeing everyone and watching how this plays out. It's gonna be very, very cool.
All right, done, mate. Thank you very much. Thank you Rev. Run for coming through and we'll have more information. This will be a regular session. I'm thinking every month or so as we add more people to the program. So thank you very much, mate. Thank you for tuning in and we'll see you again shortly. - Thanks, Ian. It's great. - Bye.
