Hello everyone. Welcome. How's it going? Hopefully we end up with more than four. No. It's good. Yeah. Yeah. I just posted it.
Yeah, I don't eat much candy, but we live Take it away from the kids
gravel from the near public paid see
That's amazing. Oh, we don't get anything nothing at all. Hey, if later on
If you guys have already been out, will you let me know that I'm getting rugged by my internet provider and I'll switch over to just doing it over my mobile plan? My connection here isn't always the most stable.
Sounds pretty good so far. So far so good huh?
Where yeah, I mean it was a little unclear because we
We changed it to the last second. Yeah, I'm in Los Angeles. Okay. Yeah, I think it you were. Did you get that tweet out? Can we attach it to the spaces here?
I tweeted it.
How do we attach just a few minutes ago? Yeah, at the top. Are you on your mobile?
I can do it again. I'll do it on the page. Hold on. Yeah. On the space this page, just you're going to share VVIP. And then it should pop up at the top of our
We're gonna have to work something into the storyline.
doors look like they're 25.
like crumple into people.
[TAKE VO]
Say that again, you cut out a little bit. Well, they're going to have to write something in the story that they all look very physically fit and
Yeah, I mean if you if you look at because you look at comics they kind of set everyone the same age
But that is valid. Yeah. No, that's true. I'll add some wrinkles. I think I can.
I think they're gonna look good with wrinkles.
Hey, wrinkles. We'll sit here for a couple more minutes, but I'm hoping that we get our story submitters here because I'd like to ask them to read their stories aloud. Both of them are short and are interesting, I think.
I think maybe this last minute changed everything from our Halloween. Gaff is maybe going to limit some people we've got here. Yeah, well, we're going to have a, I think on Thursday, we're going to have a nice big crowd for that spaces. So I'm going to once we get off
with this, I'll get on the teams channel and share some stuff with everybody, but that looks like it's going to be nice. And it sounds good. Hope to get somewhere around 30 to 60 people in that one. Awesome. Jillian, did you get it shared up? I still don't see it.
Yeah, I posted it. Did you see it? No. I'll share it on the team's page. My. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I was thinking about sharing it onto the onto the onto the spaces.
page. I'll grab it. This is something I recently learned that you can do. Yeah I'm not sure how to do it. Here we go. Here we go.
Come to the link.
Now I have to type there.
All right, now let's see if this works. If I learned how to do this correctly,
and it's entirely possible that I have it. We will soon get
At the top of the Spaces page, a picture of beautiful Javanna.
So, well, why don't we start out, we'll start talking about this a little bit. If people haven't seen, if it's not showing up at the top of the Spaces page, if you go to Will Jackard, and I think also the actual Legend X Twitter account, that's a good one.
Yep. He's going to see it for comic into one. Still a backing color. And Will, if you can explain a little bit because I've seen you go through variations on how you get to
between the previous stage of this one. Yeah, you are cutting out pretty bad, so I don't know if you can switch over.
Yeah, you're spotty your spotty for sure, but yeah, I I generally follow Go ahead anyone I can hear me
I can hear you. No one can hear me. I can hear you. We could hear you. You can. He's in the hills. All right. Will, can you hear me? Yes, I can.
I hear you. You will can't hear me. That would
Will can hear you but he can hear you but you're breaking up. Ah, okay. You're more experienced than me now. You perfectly. Huh. Okay. I can hear him fine. But he doesn't seem to be able
I'm here. He's yeah, he needs to like disconnect and hop back in. Why don't you disconnect?
and come back in. It appears that I have been completely rugged, so I'm going to leave very briefly and come back. I apologize for that. Someone's going to have to re-ad me as a co-host or as a speaker. Sorry. I was bare with us.
(keyboard clicking)
If you guys can tweet out the link and get some people in here, there might not be too many tonight because we had to change it from last night. But we're going to be having another Thursday, right? Do we have the time yet? I think we're waiting for him to set it up.
with red line to lock that in. But that should be a good one. I think we're going to try to collaborate with them when it comes to launching the digital comic because they have a platform which they've done that before. So that's a
promising collaboration. Nice.
I'll regatta you back in here
We're just gonna wait for one minute until Yutani's back in with us. I see him in here, but he's uh...
Doesn't seem to be present So Jillian, how was your Halloween? It was pretty good. She got trick-or-treating with the kids. Yeah, hello guys. They got way too far. Sorry about that. Can anyone hear me again? He's back.
We got you. Sorry, I have no idea what happened. It's the the joys of living in a rural area. No, so I don't know how much you heard, but we've shared hopefully that one link or people can go out and see it anywhere. They can see it on the discord. They can see it under Will's Twitter account. They can see it under the official Legend Dex Twitter account.
And this is lovely Javena, our head archivist at the Citadel, which is where the sentinels all hang out in between going out and having their missions. But the question I had for Will was, I've seen you go through various stages on how you draw these panels.
And obviously it starts out with some text and things that you and I have talked about and then you draw something and then you end up with this and this is the last if I've got it correctly the last stage before Being colored is that correct? Can you explain how this all goes how this all works?
Yeah, so I sketch it out. It's all digitally done, but I sketch it out in digital pencil, which is a rough iteration of it, which you can see if you go into the comic pages, you'll see the kind of first rough draft. And then I go over it and clean it up with some ink lines.
which that'll show in the final version and then the color goes underneath those inclines. Okay, so I mean the initial sketches that you did though are really detailed. So I mean do you change things at the end when you when you get in and you do these
final int panels. What's the thought process? What's the you as an artist, creative process, or the craftsman in you? What's the craftsman process that does that? I think a lot of places would have taken your pencil sketches and gone, "Awesome, we'll stay here."
Well, I mean, that is an option to have a little sketch here of a look, which there is something about that that's a good idea.
healing. But generally when you open a comic book you'll see that the inclines are very much like ink, like a
like a dipped pen is is how the old school artists did it right and so instead of having what looks like pencil lines it's a very clean black ink okay and that's that's the reason for doing it and that's that's the typical graph
Yeah, that's that's the typical American comic look where and and this is why there will be teams of three artists that generally do this. You'll have a pencil artist and inking artist and a colorist and it goes in that order and the pencil
artis draws the entire thing out then the inking artist comes over and and inks over all of that pencil erases the pencil from underneath and then the colorist comes in and digitally colors it yeah you know attacking it a three-man job
by myself, you know, it's a challenge for sure. It's a lot of work. Well, you know, it means now you run a project, you have a full-time job, you are doing the pencil work on the comic, you're doing the ink work on the comic and you're doing the coloration of the comic that's at least five vats.
Yeah, it's quite a bit and then I'm also gonna gonna have to you know, lay the late the text blocks in and Position those around the text bubbles everywhere and that would be the that would be the fourth person in a normal That is that is actually generally another person's job who does that too. So yeah, generally on common
It is a team of people working on it. I've been so busy honestly going out this weekend was the first time I've been out in a while is really refreshing and I'm glad I got to do it. I just don't like an idiot. Which particular idiot were you doing?
stuff that's me and a couple of my friends win his tourists so we basically just look like goofballs all right we made we made little cardboard cameras and we had like our socks pulled up and khaki shorts is it was not flattering but big cargo shorts yeah
Yeah, we'll wait for a picture and discord. Yeah, it really makes fun of those cargo shorts until they want to ratchet set. They're handed all those big cards. All right. Well, Jarrett said
is given a thumb down on that. All right, so we've got, I think we've got enough people in here to start talking about what a weight a little bit until we get into the story times because we've got two kind of cool stories and if we can get the original submitters in here to read them aloud.
to us. I'd like to do that if we can. But I thought we'd talk a little bit and ask what people ask questions about where the comic is and how much time we think it's going to be before we can start releasing the digital version of it.
So just to give everybody an idea of where we are, Will has started to ink these panels. This is not the one that we share today. It's not the only one that he's inked. So it's moving forward. The first episode, of course, is all of it in written. The second episode has been written in
And may go through some little tweaks. Generally, as Will starts to draw the panels out, we talk a little bit and maybe change the text just to make something a little bit easier from a drawing perspective or make the text block a little bit smaller or something
like that. But I think this first episode has been a lot of fun because Julia, do you know off the top of your head or will how many, Julia would know how many characters to be vote on, even including my poor city who died instantly, insta kill.
Oh hold on I'll have to go back I want to say there was I think so. I want to yeah and so that was that was a lot of fun. I want to make sure that everybody knows that in addition to the characters that are being
community voted upon and entered into the comic. We also are going to be including every one of one in the comic. Not every one of one is going to be in every episode of course, but the plan is absolutely to have every one of one go into there. Some of them may turn out to be larger characters
a larger part in storyline than others, but everybody who has a one-on-one is eventually going to have a character with lines and a repeating role in the comics. They're going to be major people that are out there in the universe. And the idea is that as we create this universe and start talking
all of the story together, these individual ones are going to become center of their own story. We're kind of going about it, the backwards of what the Avengers did, something like that, where you have all these individual comics to get brought together and then
and suddenly you have this massive crossover stuff that's going on. We're starting out with a whole bunch of them. And then as their storylines and their characters develop, they're going to go out and run their own little worlds. And they'll be plenty of crossover to bring them back, but that's the idea. So in episode one, we have
One. In episode one, we just have us. Well, we have we have two. Javella is special. Javella is going to be a one of one, but she hasn't been issued yet. So she's going to be she's going to be kind of a special thing that Will's going to keep in his back pocket and sometime in the future. We may do
an event where jvenna is given out, but jvenna definitely we shared here today she's definitely a one-of-one and then july who is in the in the little bin yet that i that i released um they're in my in my covid burst she's
So that she's another one of one. Other one of ones I won't talk about where they're coming at right now, but definitely in episode two you're gonna see a couple more. One and two. One, two, three more. I guess it's going to be. And we're gonna have a bunch more characters.
that can go in for community voting. Community voting characters are going to be bit characters. They're going to be like my poor Sivy, essentially extras who just get, you know, somebody has to die in the awful train crash that the superhero goes in and rescues the rest of the people.
people from. But the idea is that as we bring these characters in, they may not appear again or they may not appear again often in the comic strip series, but since we share the IP, everyone's going to be able to go out and build something on their own from that. And maybe
Maybe it's as simple as a tavern owner or some sleazeball guy who is fencing hot items in modern days and/or or maybe it's just a police detective who interfaces with them on a regular basis.
character, you get to do things with that character that you normally wouldn't be able to do because you've got a share of the IP. So we're really hoping that people buy into that concept and do everything from, you know, create merch, you know, whether it's a
throw cushion for your couch or hoodie or a coffee mug whatever it is that you want to make you can do that with your character and then also hopefully go off and write stuff about them because I think that's the coolest thing that we can do here right? Yeah, I agree and if your character dies you can always
Right the pre the prequel to absolutely we're killing him out Right and then the fact that so so city's prequel would be this this beautiful young lady who slaves her entire life and wanted nothing more than to be a Sentinel only to die Yep, but the tragic the tragic
the tragic ending right? We can't always give what we want. That's the moral. But I think she was I think she was I think she was the prettiest legend in my collection and that's saying something so anyway rest in pieces, Seedy. Yeah. She died.
I was actually, you know, at the beginning, at the beginning, when we did the vote, I wasn't going to submit any one of my own. And then, you know, we talk, 'cause like, all right, I'll just submit it to vote for everybody. And then, and then as I was winning, I was starting to think, well, you know, she is going to die, 'cause I'm, there's only a couple#
the vote happens, right? Well, and I was like, "I guess she's gonna die, so I guess that's appropriate that my character wins and dies right away." I don't know if we've established it yet, but we were considering that any character that dies gets an automatic battle of Warren upgrade. Yeah, we definitely... No, I
I think that was something we talked about and once your workload dies down a little bit, I think we can do that. Yeah, I mean, I've definitely been shipping away at it. I have the bulk of the battle-worn art up to this point done. And then I don't know if we want to talk about the other incentives
we were considering for our top holders. I liked the idea of offering a battle worn upgrade of the top holder's choice to the two top tiers. So anyone who's gold and orange would be able to submit one of their legends
for an upgrade. Yeah, and I think that's I think that's a great thing to announce today since the right at the beginning of the month. Anybody who has gold or orange and I forget what the actual status it's legendary and some elite. I'm pretty sure it's a elite in legendary. Yeah, legendary and elite then.
admit a character that you hold during the month of November and you're going to get a free battle worn upgrade to that character. So we'll put a time limit on it so that we get people to do to act on it right away. Yeah, we don't want to have you have too many things on your plate as you go into the Christmas
years all it is. Yeah and also because of the state of the development we have to implement these in batches so that deadline is is when we will be adding everything all of the battle worn up to up to that point. Right right right. No I think that's that's a good thing to talk about. It's you know
being involved in this community has been so much fun because everybody who is around and participating, I mean the people that are here today, the people that are in the Discord every day, you know, just even saying good morning or GM and you know, adding to the storylines and all that, that's what makes these, that's what makes this community so much fun.
fun. But to get to the storylines, I don't know if anybody else has gone and looked. We got two submissions to the storylines and the timeless stories. Oops, sorry. Now my computer just rugged me. Okay, that's not good.
Wonderful. Well, so, but we got we have two stories to that and I was hoping that the people who submitted them would be here today because I was really hoping that they would read them aloud and since this is the first week, everybody
If people here who are listening don't know the background on this. If you go to Timeless Stories channel on the Discord, you'll look at a pinned message up there that has some instructions. But you submit a story and it can be as simple as a dating bio.
as a Jillian put into general as an example or a little vignette, a little background story on somebody or a full-fledged chapter novel, whatever it is you want. And every week Monday through Sunday, we're
going to be taking submissions and then we'll lock down the submissions Sunday night, Wills time at midnight and we'll make a decision and sometime over the next few days we'll announce who the winners are and the winners each get a free legend. So this first week
We decided that everybody who submitted was going to get a free version. So we got two submissions and my computer has so I'm on mobile right now. I can't get Wi-Fi going. So if someone can tell me it was Tycoin crypto and
And Jack Burton. Yeah, and Burton. So they're each going to get a brand new legend decks on the next batch that we release. So congratulations to them. I was going to, if they weren't here, I was going to read their story aloud, but I can't get
access to my computer right now because I'm only on mobile data. I guess I can do it. I can access it on my phone both times. So if people haven't heard it, I'm just going to read these two aloud because they're both of them are quite short. They're both very different, which is exactly what we were hoping for.
And yeah, I think you know all of this stuff also just feeds into the ideas that allows us to help build this out even better. So yeah, absolutely awesome if you want to read those. Yeah, so the first one is from Tycoin crypto.
Tykon Crypto, by the way, if everybody doesn't know this, he was very interested in setting up a story early on. And because of the limitations on what the project can do all at once, we actually decided to
you know, ask him to hold off on what he was doing, but he's got some great ideas. And so here is his submission. I'll read it now. Charlie never wanted to be a legend, but then again, she couldn't remember a single choice she freely made either, or at least that
That's how it felt now that she knew what was really going on with time travel. Still, there wasn't a better opportunity to be a part of the solution, so she signed up for the program, and like everything else she did in life, she excelled at it, asing every test, mastering every weapon, and winning over every teammate.
Every one of them, of course, except Athena. Athena didn't trust anyone, and naturally they were going to be partners for their final training job. "Should be fun," Charlie said to Adam, her favorite mentor in the program, rolling her eyes as she put on her helmet.
He smiled that classic grin, she'd come to know and love, should be interested, should be something, he said. So, you know, here you get this little, it's definitely the start of an episode right here, kind of a thing, because
this jumps not going to go well. You can already tell. Right. So he attached to character that I'm assuming is Charlie and actually I can feel Charlie from her. She's got great color combo actually. She's all purple.
Yeah, that was a good story. Yeah.
And then Jack's is this. It's 4.59 am. The cycle is about to repeat again. It's freaking freezing out, but that doesn't matter anymore. What matters is that I find my way back home off of this desolate race line. It's been nine days since the disaster. It feels like nine years. My squadron
was on a routine reconnaissance mission in the outskirts of Sector X-13, FJ-7. Normally, I don't venture this far out of my sector, but Rodriguez went so little too hard the night before and was a no-show that day. What started off as a shitty day was about to get a whole lot shittier. We encountered a few hostiles and decided to engage.
Unfortunately, it was a trap, and we were flanked hard from both sides. Our only escape was hit a portal back to Xandora and wait for reinforcements. I don't know exactly what happened next, but the portals didn't take us home. It somehow malfunctioned and set us somewhere else. We are stranded on a remote world, but
not just any world, a world stuck in a time loop that is preventing us from leaving it. My name is Lucy. I'm an elite legend ex and I am desperately searching for a way home. So, I mean, he's got the beginnings of not just an episode there, but
a whole storyline and he's also attached to character Lucy to this and you know this is exactly the kind of thing we're looking for with timeless stories you know something something that is an offshoot of the legend X universe but they can totally stand
on its own. And this is fantastic stuff. It is. They're written well too. And your voiceover ability is great. You can sufficiently read books. You're probably going to have to have a story that you can read us the comics when it's different.
Yeah, you just read us to sleep. Yeah, only if I can do the what's the one and what's his name, the guy from the guy from Oh, shit. Now I can't even remember the will not what not will Jackson. Oh my god.
Oh, motherfucking snake's on a plane. Why does his name say me little Jackson? Sam no Jackson. You ever heard him read the the children's story? Yeah, every every pages now go to the fuck to sleep. I have it. I have it, but I'll have to look it up. That one's absolutely fantastic.
So I read it to my kids every night. Have a shot. Have a shot of this year. Now go to sleep. Well, good. So we'll have to let them know, I guess, on the discord that they each want to legend X. And I want to
encourage everyone that's here that submits something. It's worth it. We want to see your creativity. We want to take ideas and if we get a really great one, collaborate on something. I mean, as long as there's bandwidth, and that's always an issue, but as long as there's bandwidth,
There's always a way forward. And I'm willing to sit down and talk with people. You know, once it gets to a point where it's necessary, we'll definitely get will in to talk with people. And I think we could do some really fun stuff with this. So that's all I had to talk about. Will, did you have anything to
you wanted to talk about today? Not necessarily just plugging along, trying to get all of the different pieces done. And we are looking into bringing another artist on board. I think that's a really important step. I need
I need help. There's a lot of work to do on the art end. So I think that's a big hurdle that I'd like to figure out. Right. Yeah, no, and just everybody knows Will and I are looking to bring somebody on. Obviously, I can go out and help contact people.
Will's the one who has to decide whether they match the style and have the quality level that he can accept. But getting somebody on is all about increasing that bandwidth I just mentioned. Well, Jillian, did you want to add anything? No, I don't have anything to add for tonight.
I think you guys pretty much covered it. Do you have details about the Space on Thursday or was just post that in Discord for everybody? We'll post that on Discord. I can give people a teaser here. So there is another project out there called Gods and Titans.
by another DC Comics artist. And I want to be reached out to them. They are interested in doing a joint spaces with us. And that spaces is going to be hosted by Red Lion, Red Lion News. So if you guys don't know about Red Lion, you should go and type in red lion.
news and go take a look at them. But they are the longest running NFT news group. There is. And they have a section within Red Lion News, which is called Red Lion Studios, and they've actually released, I think, its six comics at this
point from different artists. So they're really into the comic space. They know comics, they know what goes into making them. And Zegadak is a host and we'll both be on there. And that should happen Thursday night. East Coast time, Thursday late afternoon, West Coast time. We're just trying to
We've got three different parties in three different time zones and then there's me in a fourth time zone. So we're just trying to make sure that we get that all coordinated before we announce anything eventually. Yeah, that sounds great. Yeah. All right, then anyone else, anyone here, have any questions or want to talk? Raise your hand. We'll give you the mic and off you go.
All right.
Well, with that then, I think we'll wrap up tonight and we're gonna try to make this I don't think we'll do it every week, but maybe every two weeks if we start getting tons of stories then we'll definitely do every week, but we'll try to do this and
build up the family. Let people know about Legendex. This is something really special I think that we're doing here. All right off. Absolutely. Appreciate you guys. Yeah, appreciate you. I'm signing off. Thanks a lot. Talk to you later.
