Hi guys, the speakers are joining. I'm going to pull you up so that you're invited. Check
that you can join. Inviting you to speak. Baritone, I'm inviting you to speak. JC,
I'm inviting you to speak. Bear poker, I'm inviting you. Okay, request. Baritone. Okay,
actually, I think you guys should request yourself to speak, maybe. I'm going to try to invite,
but hopefully you can hear me, by the way. Who can hear me? Okay, speakers. We have,
okay, baritone. Yes, excellent. Can you hear me? Can you guys thumbs up if you can hear me?
For some reason, I'm not hearing anything.
So I guess just no one's speaking yet.
JC, would you mind going in and, okay, okay. I'm going to prove you to speak.
Okay, I think there's a little bit of a lag.
It takes like a couple seconds after.
Would you mind unmuting your mic so we can hear
Hello, yeah. Yeah so we can hear when you speak? Hello? Yeah?
Okay, so we have Verapoca here too.
This is such a big, bad spaces.
Okay, so Bear Rodman is now a speaker too.
I think we're just missing.
We can always pull up Play Friends as speaker.
Okay, Percat approve. speaker. Icy Bear.
If you could request Play Friends and Joy.
Let me contact Dagan from Joy.
I love that there's so many speakers.
This is how to do a Twitter spaces.
Even though it's hard to make a graphic with so many people, projects, it's
better because we can actually have a turnout today, I feel.
BMBM, this is Icy coming in from the Baritone account, but I've also just joined on my personal
so that, you know, it helps amplify it more.
Yeah, yes. You're such a personality. Welcome. Thank you for joining.
Thank you for having me. Yay. I feel like you're such a legit
personality. So perhaps like a Twitch streamer, like a famous Twitch streamer or something.
I'm a little nervous to have you on. Oh flatter me i'm literally just a girl um well um we also have perch on here perkats
And I'm going to talk about Dora.
And also, I also joined Baritone Discord today and going to join the book club.
We're going to be reading Howl's Moving Castle as our first book, and we're starting this weekend.
So I'm really excited for you to join in.
So I've started a book club in the baritone community to help Beras read.
So we are choosing books based on polling from the book club members. So we're
starting with a fantasy genre. And I think next we'll probably do sci-fi because that was the
second most polled genre of book. But yeah, we're going to have like little asynchronous book
and then at the end I'll host a movie night where we watch Howl's Moving Castle as a little
celebration of finishing our first book that's so cool it's joy too Chelsea, I needed a good reason to watch. Well, first of all, I love to read.
But in terms of Ghibli movies, I needed a good reason to sit through a whole one because I did
when I was a kid and I was obsessed with them, but I have a very low attention span now.
So I really want to sit through a Ghibli movie again.
Oh my gosh, I would love for you to join join whenever we host movies in baritone it's like really fun
because we'll just chat like in the text chat while we're watching and make jokes and just like
you know goof around while we watch so it's actually like really fun and immersive
so hopefully you have time to join us that's awesome thanks for the invitation and for everyone else here too perhaps you'd want
to join as well really cool it's a really good idea like creating a book club
how did you think this i see because we were talking about this like talking about reading
a book in my space i I made a full moon space
yesterday and Tyler Poon mentioned that you have a book club in the baritone.
And I decided to join like after learning it in the space.
And I just wonder how it's how did you think about this?
Yeah, so it was actually kind of an inspiration partly from Sailor Poon, who's like one of my besties.
Her and then also Witcher have both been getting more into reading.
And that inspired me to get back into reading because I haven't read like an actual book in quite some time.
And I used to love reading so much as a kid and so I had this idea
of like well why don't we make it you know like a community thing and like it helps to kind of
motivate each other to stick with it if you have people doing it with you as well
so that's kind of where it stemmed from. Nice are you gonna have like are you gonna do weekly spaces about
the book club or with discord meetings too or it's gonna just continue in the chat uh I haven't
exactly decided yet because I am quite new to the concept of doing an online book club. I would really like to be able to schedule
maybe like some VCs to discuss it. For now, because so many people are just all over the
world in so many different time zones, I'm going to structure it like each chapter will have a
thread. And that way you don't run the risk of running into spoilers if
you haven't read as far along as other people. But I would love to have those like VCs or those
spaces to be able to synchronously talk about it as well. But we're going to kind of like
test it out as we go. It's definitely an experiment in the making and we'll we'll see you know kind of what works best for the structure of the club
yeah that's so cool well I'm really excited that everyone's here and this was a tidbit of
information that I wasn't aware I would learn today. So I want to join a book club.
It's been a while and you slow down and smell the flowers. So read a book would be good.
Well, thanks everyone for joining. We have everyone here now. We have quite a lot of speakers
of Full House, but I think that that's awesome because it means that we can get a community from everyone.
And perhaps you guys can share it with your Telegram groups or your ex-accounts too to amplify it.
We really appreciate that.
We're going to open it up so that everyone can introduce themselves and their
project. But first, I'll introduce Deke. So we're the host today. Deke Network, it is a secret fi
app that allows people to spill and leak secrets for financial rewards. We're built on Barachain.
We're really close with the Barachain ecosystem and builders.
And now we're working on a new MVP, so a little bit of alpha.
And we will have some product launches coming soon.
And this is going to be in more of the prediction market and gaming sphere.
You might have saw Smokey was tweeting about us the other day.
So we're all really excited about what we're about to go live with and keep up to date with
us and our updates. But also today, there's all these really, really, really cool gaming projects here. And we also have a couple of non-gaming
projects too. And we have Kodiak Finance, we have Bear Poker, Baritone, Joy, Dora, Play Friends,
and sorry if I missed any on, I don't think so. I think that's a list, but these are our guests.
And since we have so many of these speakers, I wanted to just step back for a second and give you guys this first part
of the conversation to introduce yourselves, not just introduce yourself, but what you're building,
what you're working on. So I'll go ahead and I'll just pass it over to Kodiak. So I think Kodiak
was the first person that I was talking about having a spaces with,
and then all these other cool people hopped on board.
So, Bear Rodman, would you mind giving us an intro?
Thanks for having us and myself.
Very big fans of Deke, a few of the co-founders, some of my favorite people, so could not miss this.
And yeah, we're the native decks to Bergen.
And so we have, you know, a full suite of trading products and kind of, yeah, I mean, full suite of trading products, including like kind of the core decks, the Kodiak Islands, which are automated managed positions for users. We also just recently
introduced the Kodiak vaults or Kodiak bolts and these are auto compounding vaults that leverage
whichever barochain LST has the highest premium at the time. So if you are deposited into one of
these vaults you don't actually have to be like opinionated in
terms of like where you mint your your bgt this um the the kodiak vaults actually go out of their
way and kind of search for the best yields and optimize for that um we also have some meme coin
products so we have the panda the panda bot um that's been developed with with our friends over
at ramen and i would actually if you guys
aren't following the panda bot account I would go follow it as we have some like a pretty significant
update coming pretty soon here we have the panda factory as well go launch some tokens
and a few other kind of fun experimental products but I think that kind of covers it for the most part.
And thanks for the intro.
I'd like to hear a little bit more as we talk further in the conversation,
especially about how maybe some of these other projects or games could be partnering or working with Kodiak.
Thanks for telling us more.
Also, we have here today we have we have kid um do you guys know kid he's super friendly super cool guys from bear poker
um do you like to introduce yourself what you're building
oh yeah thanks for having me today i'm'm Kid from Barapoker. Do you guys hear me?
Yeah, please do thumbs up if you can hear me right now.
So once again, I'm Barapoker.
The, you know, collab poker partnerships and stuff like that um so far over 70 projects
we've collabed with and then more than 300 poker events happening on bear chain that we posted
and yes one of the rfa project as well and yeah thanks for having me at this perfect time and
because we're having this upcoming nft
along with our new season coming in and also our new game launch all at the same time so
um i do believe you know this are nft things we have consolidated with a lot of campaigns around
it so ready to like down to share some alpha here. Thanks for having me today.
And yes, we're excited too.
Deke was posting about it also, the whitelist and NFT.
So congratulations on that.
Daigen, it's been a while since spoken with you.
Can you tell us a little bit more about Joy?
Hey, yeah, amazing to be speaking again on this space.
Thank you, Chelsea, for organizing.
Also, we have all these amazing names up here.
We had a tournament with Verapoker last week,
and we've done a lot of cool stuff with Verapoker
and Kodiak and everyone else here.
So really, really cool and
honored to share the stage um i'm dagan the founder of joy we build web free gaming consoles um we were incubated by builder bearer um our console is like a steam deck so you can play your
pc games your web free games um your epic game store games so like your fortnite to your like
avalon to your baritone to your bear poke on the device
as well as trading in d5 later on um and yeah we love gaming we work with all the games in the
space and we can't wait to chat a bit more about liquid games and all the other good stuff cooking
in the baritone ecosystem awesome really cool and you partnered and worked with a few of the projects here already
that's pretty cool and Icy Bear welcome back up to the stage um tell us more about well you could
talk about the book club and also tell us more about baritone please give us an intro yeah
BMBM thank you so much for putting this space together and having all of us up here. It's an all-star cast of super bullish projects. I'm Icy. I'm the community lead for Baritone. cozy game being built on bear chain where you can expect crafting farming fishing combat adventure
and a whole lot of very adorable and rotund bearers you will get your own island farmstead
which is specific instance to you very similar to animal crossing or stardew valley that you can
build and nourish in the way that you want. And also it is going to be
the rest of the world as an MMO. So you're going to be able to play simultaneously with all of the
other Beras and do questing, go on adventures, lots of sailing, and lots of mini games and fun to be had. So we're really excited to be here. Our first playtest is live for
holders of our Founders Sailcloth collection, and it will very soon be opened up to holders
of our Baritoners collection. The Baritoners is our newest addition to the Baritone ecosystem,
addition to the baritone ecosystem and they are really cute pfps but also will operate as in-game
avatars and fully rigged 3d vtubers so for anyone who wants to stream and create their own content
but prefer to remain anonymous that is the perfect solution for you and we do have a book club, as Chelsea mentioned. So if you would like to get more into
reading, check out our Discord server. We have a channel called Choose Roles, and you can use
emojis to react to give yourself the book club role, which will open up the book club chat and read along with us.
That's super, super, super cute.
And I feel like I've learned so much about all these projects already that I didn't know.
One big question I had for you before Icy Bear,
and you mentioned it just in the introduction,
is that do you stream baritone?
Because I know you have a Twitch.
Yeah, I have admittedly fallen a bit off of the streaming because I've just been so busy with baritone.
I am slowly making my way back.
I do have a Twitch, and I also am really keen on getting more presence on Baritv.
Got to support the Barit ecosystem.
But yeah, I do lots of streaming of various games and 100% we will be encouraging everyone to stream Baritone with their Baritone
VTubers. We're definitely going to be having, you know, ambassadorship programs and highlighting our community that does do streaming
as well so if you're interested in streaming or you already do stream there's a lot of opportunity
for you to make new friends and have a lot of fun with baritone that sounds super fun I always dreamed of being a streamer, so maybe one day. Thanks for the information.
And we also have another game here today, Play Friends. And JC is a co-founder. So if you'd like
to come up to and introduce yourself in the project. Hey everyone, thanks for having me. So, well, we've been around since 21, but we're relative newcomers to Baruchain, so I do appreciate the warm welcome of everyone here.
And our first iteration was a game discovery platform that was used by telcos to distribute games to their subscribers.
When the Play2Earn market crashed in 22,
we had to pivot to something else,
and there we came up with PlayFriends,
which is our product right now.
PlayFriends, the easiest way to think about it
is that it's a platform with always-on Twitter spaces,
which are managed by groups of creators called guilds,
which we took from the play to earn guild model before.
These guilds are able to monetize through virtual gifts sent on the platform.
They are also equipped with scheduling, community management,
and engagement tools out of the box in order to optimize their operations.
The beautiful thing about Playfriends is that
most of these guilds that we have on the platform
are comprised of creators from varying regions of the globe.
So they can be a mix from people from Venezuela,
Philippines, Southeast Asia.
And then we're able to bring them together
through crypto payment rails
and automating their revenue splits and making them run as a business.
That's really interesting and cool.
I checked out Play Friends, and I see that the game,
it looks really well made.
It's just taking a look at it and looks
really cool and good UI. So, um, also it's on Barachain too. Um, so represent and, uh, yeah,
it's, it's really neat. I would love to hear more about that. And thank you for the introduction.
I think we have one more. Yes, we do. Yes, you know know i'm sorry i there's so many people here but it's
awesome it's good to hear about all the cool things you guys are building we have per per
that's who's missing per chan up on the stage i know you're not with the game specifically but
you're just as cool of a big player so yeah we're a space we're a we're a like platform that you can discover the
popular games what is popular on specific chains like bear chain and other chains but mainly we
are multi-chain block explorer so you don't need to go different block explorers to see the transactions and everything. You can just go to the ondora.xyz and just type the address or contract address or anything,
and you can find out what's happening on that specific chain without even going to the chain
You can just search for it. And on top of that, we are also providing what is trending, what NFT collection
is popular on a specific chain, which coin is trending. And we also updated our homepage
recently, last week. And we have trending tokens, trending collections, trending vaults and different things.
And we are adding more things about like for someone who is just onboarding
and just getting involved with everything,
they can discover everything on what's happening on chain from Dora.
So yeah, we are like a place,
a platform that you can discover
trending collections and platforms,
and also a multi-chain block explorer.
And thank you for sharing.
I know you mentioned that it's multi-chain so
bara chain represent cool cool cool well thank you i and i am guilty i added another speaker
uh linda did request herself um so if you guys know linda l's done some work with some collabs with Deke in the past,
and she's been a voice in the crypto Twitter space for a long time.
Yes, so we have a lot of projects here.
We're speaking a bit about gaming
and most of these projects are from the Barachain ecosystem.
I did want to kind of open up the floor a little bit more
to give space for Kodiak, since I know it's
not specifically gaming. It's not a gaming project itself, but I know they've worked with a few of
these games here. So Rodman, I wanted to ask you a bit more about proof of liquidity and how this benefits consumer games
or consumer crypto like games too. So perhaps you could tell us a little bit more about that
or specifically just about how Kodiak's been working with some of these games or could be
working with some of these games. for sure um and yeah i mean
actually so i i've spent like quite a bit of time just within like i guess like gaming and and and
like in-game economies right and i think like proof of liquidity is pretty cool because like i guess
like i mean it's still it's still very theoretical just because I think with the games and especially like the higher quality games, like the lifespan and development time is just so much, it's extended, right?
So we haven't really get to see this like to fruition yet.
But essentially, like whatever you have in marketing, right?
And like whatever actions that you're planning to incentivize and kind of build around as
like, I guess like your core loop of the, of the game, right?
You can kind of leverage those within proof of liquidity.
And so like, if you have like, I don't know, let's just say that you have like some onboarding
funnel where you have, you know, you have like a new bonus or like a bonus of in-game
currency for, for new players
once they complete these quests.
You can kind of subsidize part of that with like BearChain's proof of liquidity system.
And so you can essentially take like whatever marketing budget that you have for that campaign
or for that quest, whatever it is.
And you can basically bribe with it and get back, I don't know, 30% to 40%. Well, that's where it is right now.
At one point, it was like 200%, 300%.
But you can get back 30% to 50% in addition to whatever you had budgeted for marketing.
And I think this is just really...
I mean, this is pretty interesting for
games because I think when you have like, whether it's like mobile or desktop, you have to just
perfect the kind of like engagement loops and really like the call to action or the,
like the things that really boost retention. And I think Bear could be like a pretty fun
fun way to experiment and try around that.
way to experiment and try around that.
And thanks for picking on that question.
I was actually thinking, okay,
maybe I'm putting him a little bit on spot,
but interesting, interesting.
You also mentioned a little bit
about the auto compounding vaults.
I was interested, does that,
do you ever do any integrations with projects like
games for something like that? Yeah, I mean, certainly. I think, you know, we're really
trying to be home for, like, any tokens on Bera, and this means games too, and I think, like, the
most, like, high-level thing, or, like, level thing or like i guess like high level thing that
we can do is is just help around token launch um incentivizing and growing that liquidity base but
in the future really hope to see like kodiak like integrated in some of these virtual economies and
virtual environments and so that might be like trading within a game itself.
It's super cool the way that we web-freeify the games.
And I think you mentioned Dagon.
I hope I'm pronouncing your name correctly.
I think you've corrected me in the past.
Dagon. Okay. Dagan. Thank you. I think you mentioned that you've worked with Kodiak in the past. Not directly, although somewhat early on. Kodiak
had been super helpful when we were giving away a whitelist for the initial, like, when we were
going to sell the Joy consoles,
but we've been cooking stuff behind the scenes
and we're going to have a nice Kodiak XJoy video
And yeah, we eventually want to have DeFi integrations
So imagine like you're playing, I don't know,
you're playing baritone on your little Joy Genesis console.
And then suddenly you've earned some tokens because you've done some cool things and you then want to do some training with them and buy some meme coins.
Maybe you want to buy G was it BM, which was the first meme coin I bought in Kodiak and Panifactory when Baruchay launched.
We hopefully would enable people to do that.
So you could actually access DeFi applications directly through the console.
And then you just go from a game,
maybe you play poker and you win big,
and then you want to go into Kodiak
and change those tokens into something else
and then stake your bearer with it or whatever else.
So I think Kodiak would power a lot of that
kind of behind-the-scenes tech,
and it's something we're kind of exploring with Joy,
Because at the beginning, we want to really optimize it for games and get that right and then once
that's delivered and out there then we look at defy as well and those sorts of integrations
so yeah we've kind of spoke with we've workshopped with everyone not everyone half the stage um on
what we can do with their project and joy as we get to market and also a lot of people here have
actually seen the console and felt it in their hands because i brought it to all the different conferences recently
um and yes icy react yes we took a picture in person um with the console and little um
tony uh the bear so yeah really really excited to do more stuff with kodiak and other people on stage
and viva la Barachain Gaming.
Let's get more and more Barachain games out there in the hands of players.
And we hope we can be distribution for that.
So that's kind of why we exist and why we build here.
I want to see the console.
I've actually just pinned to the space the picture of tony playing on the joy
device it feels really really good in the pause and it was really awesome to get to see the product
in person amazing team tony for life. Tony's cute.
Well, that's really neat.
And I'd love to see it in action.
So thanks for telling us a little bit more about that. I guess who here hasn't yet started collabing with Joy?
If you haven't, make sure to connect with connect with them after
the spaces today um super cool i will bear a kid kid um you are building bear poker which um we
already know that bear i see poker is really, really, really, really big in web too.
Sometimes not allowed in places in the world, but I know it's different.
It's not just poker. It has a different spin to it.
So I was wondering if you could tell us a little bit more how bear poker has more of like a web 3 spin
and what you're doing different.
Oh, yes, absolutely. Absolutely.
So the game right now we have, so one is like the normal poker, like Texas Hold'em.
And another game is called Gacha.
It's like the pure lottery.
Like it's a little like poker related, but it's like pure luck game, right?
And so the tokens we integrate are like not just Vera, not just Honey, but we accept a lot of meme coin betting.
So we names ourselves as like one of the meme coin casino, I'd say.
So yeah, so you can bet any tokens, including like BM from Kodiak, that's possible.
And then having a lot of integrations, like we've announced the partnership with Joy.
So our game would be on the Joy device.
And as Dave told me, as Dave told us, like we can play the game on Joy.
And then also, like, actually we had a space with IC yesterday and talked about like having maybe the 18 plus casino inside Baritone.
Yeah, so a lot of integration in terms of like tokens
or like existing games here also the prediction market we can cook a lot of things together with
so yeah starting from like mean coin betting we're doing a lot of integration inside this
web3 community also like club functions that we're preparing right now. So anyone can basically host a game with your favorite token,
and then you will benefit by affiliates
or like rakebacks and stuff like that.
So that's how we leverage everything.
And then for the upcoming NFT,
we would leverage everything that we have right now.
And it's really cool to hear how a lot of you guys are already
doing things with each other and for example to have bear poker on the joy council that just blows
my mind so that's really really cool and um so so you have the nft coming up. Is there a bit of preview announced for the art?
So, yeah, we've announced the art, which is very cute,
which each NFT has its own, like, poker hand.
So, like, aces, ace-king to, like, six-nine-up suited and stuff like that.
So each hand has their own, yeah, design.
But it's, like, a late reveal. So we would yeah design but it's like a late reveal so we would
we would like it's random right so if you want to get your favorite hand then you might want to
like participate more to get your like good hands so that will so better hands would give the boost
to their our like new new game like play to earn thing um and the bear you know bear airdrop and yeah like
stuff like that i see cool cool that's that's exciting that's fun and
okay well um perhaps in the future we can we can all play each other's games.
So we can actually get our hands dirty ourselves.
Yeah, that sounds really cool.
We also have PlayFriends.
That will be so good. Oh, yes, absolutely.
We've been doing the poker streaming with Playfriends so many times as well, actually.
I didn't know you guys are all friends.
We're doing poker with Playfriends.
It's a really good concept.
Yeah, Purr's really great at organizing too so um if we're looking for uh
someone to get something going per i feel like she would be the one to get a poker night up and
running play some games game nights game nights like game nights but weekly game nights will be really nice or like teaching poker oh yes for sure
girls will join that i know yeah does anyone here not know how to play poker
girls we gotta do bear a poker academy that's what we've been talking with icy yesterday with Icey yesterday, actually. Definitely. Please do it. Yeah.
with Playfriends, I mentioned
in the beginning that I checked out
the game and I checked the
website and it looks really cool, really cool
UI. I wanted you to tell us a little bit more
about it, the features, how it's social cool, really cool UI. I wanted you to tell us a little bit more about it,
the features, how it's social,
any cool people who are using it.
Just a little bit more insight into what the gameplay,
what people could expect.
Okay, so Play Friends, first of all, it's not a game.
It's a platform where creators can stream themselves
And then, like Kid said, we've been hosting their
Bear Poker Nights on PlayFriends every Friday,
and that's been a huge success on our platform.
A lot of people that really enjoy it.
So it's a platform where creators can offer companionship services,
gaming companionship services that guests pay for. So that if you want to play with someone
who is your type or someone on the platform, you can give them virtual gifts.
And then you can book them for playtime.
You can also just listen in on the lobbies.
They're live all the time.
And like I said, it's different from Twitch because Twitch is mostly like solo creators, right?
So in PlayFriends, the experience is that when you go into a lobby,
which is ran by a guild, it's a different streamer every hour so it's
rotating so the experience is very different from something like twitch or these other streaming
platforms so it's really optimized for people to meet other people and meet people to play with
and like i said we have guilds that are focused on playing games.
Those are some cool features.
And so Bearapoker, for example, they have some streamers on Playfriends.
Our creators actually stream while playing Bearer Poker.
So Bearer Poker hosts the events, and then our creators join in.
And most of our creators, 90% of them are women.
And we all know that a lot of the audience for our games are men.
So it's a fun time when everyone's involved,
like both men and women are involved in activities.
Nice. I actually heard a stat like that,
but I didn't do my own fact check,
that most of these mobile games are being played by women.
Do you think that that's a true stat?
Most of the casual games, like not most, but around 55 to 60 percent of casual games are being played by women.
But we all know like Web3 games are a different story.
Most of them are played by men.
Sure. Sure. Yep. That would. Sounds about right.
Interesting. Well, that's cool. So who here besides the bear poker communities,
any other communities from these games been showing up on PlayFriends too?
Yeah. We are hoping to collaborate with all of the other games that are on here.
It's a fun time when our creators play your games on PlayFriends and showcase them.
We have over 900,000 users on our platform, mostly our Web2 people.
So we do, our hosts do onboarding for them.
They help them create their wallets and help them get started with crypto.
That's also something that we do.
Cool. That's really neat.
Well, I do like the look and feel of PlayFriends,
and I think it's a nice touch, too.
So thanks for telling us a little bit more.
I feel like I have a lot of games and apps to try now.
Really, really, really cool.
So I guess I wanted to just open it up more for casual conversation and kind of take it back.
We learned a lot about your apps and what you guys are building.
a lot about your apps and what you guys are building, but more about what your communities
are like and how you guys are building community. So more about like the users and the players.
I guess I could pull up one of the speakers, but is anyone here just heavily involved in like
community building? I think Icy Bear, you're definitely,
you would definitely perhaps fit that bill from what I've seen. So what's so unique about
these Web3 communities? Like as JC said, it's like sometimes a lot of men, but baritone on
the other hand, it's an Animal Crossing like game, which is, I would say, is quite a game that a lot of women love and they're raving about.
So what's your experience building community and getting people excited about the game, whether it's just about Web3 or marketing?
I know that it's fun in itself. It's a game. So are you actively, I guess, are you actively playing to yourself with these communities?
And so what does it look like for you to get involved in the community building for a game?
for a game? Yeah, that's a really great question. So in terms of community building in general
Yeah, that's a really great question.
within Web3, I was a community manager for an NFT project prior to joining the Baritone team.
So I came with a bit of experience in terms of building a comfy, cozy community that people
want to be a part of. And I think like one of the big focuses
is just genuinely building a space that is welcoming, that, you know, shows support and
appreciation and celebration of the people who make up the community. And, you know, doing
everything you can to like give people opportunities to have fun, whether that's movie nights, game nights, meme contests, or just a really fun and lively chat.
Especially within Web3, I think the advantage there is that we all do have a shared hobby or interest already
by being involved within Web3.
And Web3 Gaming offers this really cool niche
where it's obviously made up of people who are gamers themselves
who are also interested in the crypto applications to gaming.
And so it offers this really neat opportunity
to blend those two joys or hobbies or interests.
And so for me, not only do I focus on what I mentioned before about building a fun and welcoming space within the baritone community, but I do also put a lot of focus on expanding myself to other gaming
communities and communities in general within Web3. I think that one of the most effective
methods of onboarding is to just be a genuine person and, you know, make friends and chat with
people and be involved in the space, you know, whether that's in the trenches or in other projects. It really
helps for organic community building, which I think is at the core going to be more impactful
than any like super huge marketing campaign, because those are people that are, you know,
real, they genuinely care. And when people genuinely believe in support
in a project, they're much more likely to share that word of mouth, which is one of the best ways
to market organically. So that was a bit long winded. I'm also literally like on my treadmill
right now. So sorry if I sound a little winded.
No way. Yeah, those are some of the methods that I incorporate as a community lead to not only build the baritone community, but get myself involved in our partners
and other communities as well.
communities as well. That's awesome. And really cool. I'm sorry if I actually lost you. So I
didn't hear a large part of what you said, but I hope that the rest of the audience was able to
hear your message. Okay, cool. It sounds like people are reacting. Okay, good, good, good. Well, I'm nice. Well,
that's really cool. Does anyone else have any thoughts too? Sorry, I didn't catch what IC
said. My face audio was breaking up. So does anyone ever have any other thoughts on their
mode of building community? Not so much on myself but questions um a ic
is really good um i had a lot of fun in your discord when i came in that one time to do a
little space um but the bear poker disco is really good uh these guys are cool uh very active very
engaged um big fan i'm my questions for jc like how the hell did you get 900 000 people streaming
on your platform? That is
incredible community building. So please tell us how to do it. And not only did you get 900,000
people, but 90% are women. This isn't unheard of in Web3. What is the secret?
Oh, no, no, no. So we have over 300 creators on the platform and over like 900,000 users that are listening in for these creators.
So we haven't opened up the creators part yet.
We don't let everyone stream.
We're not an open platform like Twitch where everyone can stream.
As you can imagine, whenever we open up applications for creators, a lot of the applicants are guys.
We try to keep more women on the platform than men.
Fair enough. That makes a lot of sense.
So how did you get the 900,000 users?
Well, it's really the power of our creators.
A lot of our creators are veterans from other platforms that we onboarded into our platform.
So we spent months really scouting and getting in touch with these creators and having them bring their audience
into the platform. So aside from a little marketing spend that we do on Web2 platforms,
we also rely a lot on our creators to bring in these users.
Gotcha. Yeah, very impressive. Really cool. I hope to see more of you guys in the space
um i'm sorry for taking over the mc spots i'll hand back over to chelsea
no no thank you thank you that's a good question um it it came to my mind too uh to ask jc um
sorry to put you on spot but i was I was curious because when I was checking out
Play Friends myself, I too saw that there was a lot of creators from like the web to space.
And I thought that was really cool. And so I guess, yeah, how did you guys, how did you guys
approach them? And what's, so what's, what's that like, Are they coming from mainly Twitch or Instagram?
It sounds like Twitch would be a good place where you,
like a marketing campaign, are you actively reaching out?
What does that look like?
I can see some of our creators in the audience right now.
Nessa over here, she's from a platform called Bego.
It's a very big platform so we got streamers from
different platforms and how we do it is that we try to onboard existing talent agencies as guilds
and when we onboard them they bring in a lot of other hosts or creators into their guild.
So they bring in not only themselves, but other creators as well.
And we, of course, give them the tools to manage their guild
and give them a split of the revenue.
That's why they're incentivized to do so.
We love our incentives. That's awesome. Well, thank
you for the onboarding efforts of bringing people on to the Web3 space. I'm excited to
hear more about that going forward and I want to see that I want
I guess mass manufacturing it um so we are doing a build to like build order um model as it's a lot
less risky so once we know exactly how many we need to make we're going to go to the factory
and say hey please make them um our manufacturer like CTO has been in the web 2 console
He was AMD for 20 years and has manufactured
those hard-earned mining equipment
and worked on Xbox and PlayStation chips.
So a lot of experience in building stuff.
And yeah, we think the best way is
don't build lots and lots of supply
and then try and for sell it, see what people want and then make it for the people so yes we have a bunch of prototypes and
we are still kind of iterating towards but the hardware is mostly complete we just want to add
a camera on the back into the final version so you can scan qr codes and send and receive payments
imagine scanning a qr code and sending some money for Kodiak would be fun.
And so other than that, hardware is there and software is still a work in progress,
although people have played around in alpha versions, but there is a ways to go before
it is silky smooth and buttery fun.
So yeah, that's where we're at.
Yeah, I said silky smooth and buttery fun.
Yeah, well, that sounds fun to me.
So is that something the Joy team is actively doing, is prototyping a console?
Or are you guys more focused on your...
So right now we're focused on distribution.
So that's getting like the community.
Partnerships, building what's behind the computer, or are you guys actively
having meetings on the console with the whole team?
So in the early days, so we were in Stil for a good year. We were in Builder Bearer, much like Kodiak and Baritone here, and we were working with them like every year and a half.
Can you guys hear me? I was breaking up earlier oh no yeah am I breaking up or are you breaking up
I can hear both of you to be honest
yeah I think it's perfect yeah perfect so what was I saying we were in stealth for the first year we only came out of stealth
in January and the first year was us basically prototyping buying manufacturers checking where
we can actually make these we ended up running into one of the biggest handheld gaming manufacturers
in China in Shenzhen and they agreed to make the for the first unit. Well, either way.
I'm having technical difficulties.
I'll sit back for a minute
yeah you can send me the um questions you want to ask and i can help you to moderate if you want want okay i'm taking over let's go dora yeah let's go let's go hey
okay i can reach out to her through telegram so we don't have any problem so yeah please if you can go on yeah sorry i'll keep
your flexibility we appreciate um we were manufacturing first first year and then second
year we're focusing more on distribution partnerships and software um so yeah
on the topic of i'll moderate quickly for a little bit on the topic of, I'll moderate quickly for a little bit, on the topic of communities,
Kodiak built a very very big community early on, oh we've lost Kodiak, damn, I was gonna ask how
they did it because they've been consistently here from the very beginning, but as they're gone,
anyone else want to take the stage?
I think we, who haven't explained, because I know that we have so many products in here today I think everyone everyone talked about the projects right Linda do you want I think she's just listening
see if you want I can chat
rubbish about anything for any period of time.
Yeah, you're really good at yapping too.
We can chat about liquid games.
That's the title of the space, right?
Yeah, what is a liquid game?
Is that liquidity in games, like assets and items?
Or is it games of water in them?
Tell me, what's your interpretation?
I'm personally inclined to believe with absolutely no bias whatsoever
that it's actually a psyop to encourage hydration while
gaming yes baritone loves hydration i've got the sticker still
i kept a few for myself and i like put them on my laptop and stuff i love it
um but i i also do think that it probably ties into liquidity within gaming.
And I think especially because BearChain is, you know, POL based, it does tie in with that.
So if I had to put on my detective hat, obviously the first meaning is to be hydrated while gaming.
But I think a secondary meaning could reference directly
the concept of POL within gaming.
Yeah, I think you might be onto something there.
I normally have one of those hats on with the straws at the side,
and then I'm just drinking water while I'm playing
on my little Joy Hanna console.
It's the only way to do it.
Cody, I had a really good point at the beginning
on proof of liquidity, on how you could actually
incentivize people to basically hold your token and then end up using it to provide liquidity
doing activities that you want them to do on your platform. We were considering having a thing where
if people log in every day or if they're like staking Joy token or using Joy with a pair with
another project, they would be rewarded with bgt governance tokens for doing like basically
coming back and playing on our console on a daily basis we're still workshopping this through and
pls still going through lots of different improvements and i'm not a defy uh incentive
master but um i really think you can create some cool strategies with BOR and it basically allows the protocol platform itself
to incentivize different actions
and it really helps out the applications on the chain.
So I think that's very cool and it's very liquid
and it brings player liquidity
because it keeps them coming back.
And more games should have those sorts of features.
So I'm really excited to see how they materialize
in the Verachain gaming ecosystem
over the coming months as we build and build.
So, yeah, that's my take on liquidity.
Yeah, I've for many years now long been bullish on the application of crypto in the gaming industry.
crypto in the gaming industry um i and i'm really excited to see that game fi is being developed
more and more as the years progress because as a lifelong gamer myself i've many a time throughout
