First episode of Live from Jeroonsac Gym, a weekly space about Muay Thai.
Jeroonsac Gym is the Bangkok Gym with Mr. J Drunsak, Supergirl and Wondergirl playing the starring
role and of course Supermom.
Drunsak Gym is where Supergirl and Wondergirl trained before joining 1FC and now they have
moved to Phuket and Drunsakak Jim lives on with the manager, Mr. Young.
And I'm sure he will be here very soon.
Well, timing is everything, ladies and gentlemen. We're here for the first episode of Jeroen Sack Gym, live Muay Thai Thursdays.

we'll get things going and try and get this uh muay thai spoken metaverse rolling
It's a spoken metaverse rolling.
Let me just see where Mr. Young is.
I think he's just messaged me.
Okay, jump in, Mr. Young.
Mr. Young is the first generation student
of Mr. Drunsek, Supergirl's father.
And he is scheduled to join us as the co-host. So he's going to jump in in a second.
I'll just hit him with the link. Okay. So here's the story then. Supergirl and Wondergirl
moved to Phuket. Supergirl Jim moved to Phuket, but the original Jim is still rolling.
It's still open, and it reopened in the last month.
Mr. Young is the manager, and I suggested that we start a weekly space to get chatting,
so I'm sure he'll be here very soon when he drops in.
He's messaged me on Instagram, and he's going to come in.
It's a bit confusing going on your first Twitter space.
But I'm sure it's the future. So who am I? Well, I go by the name of Edward, and I'm the, let's say the co-creator of a talent agency that we call Timing and Talent Squared.
Timing and Talent Squared, which was set up by myself
and a mystery partner who may remain nameless for now.
And if there is more to say, I will reveal it later.
For now, if anyone would like to come up, please hit the request.
But look who joined the stage.
How is it going, Mr. Young?
Do you guys hear me clearly
get loud and clear mr young all right awesome awesome okay awesome yeah um yeah just done with
the training um hope everyone is well that's great how did training go today at true insect gym
How did training go today at Turinsac Gym?
Today was okay, not too busy.
We have the same young kids who want to try their first fight.
So we're trying to land him a fight.
Hopefully, if everything goes to plan, then he'll be fighting 26th of April this month.
I think he's probably around his 20, maybe 24, 24, 25.
So yeah, he's still at his peak.
Ladies and gentlemen, Young, the manager of Sit Jeroonsac Muay Thai Gym, the famous gym in Bangkok. We're going to chat Muay Thai and this is the first time we're doing it.
So this will be played back as well that we have a recording available.
Yeah. Young, why don't you introduce yourself?
Tell us a little bit about your history and how you came to be the manager of Jeroen Sak Gym. So basically I've been I have been training at Jeroen
Sak Gym under coach Jeroen also known as Superdad the father of Anna Jeroonsak, also known as Supergirl.
And I've been training here since 2018
and under Coach Jeroonsak as his disciple.
And during that time, Coach and Anna have become won championships.
Anna has been competing in won championships.
And fortunately, they have a chance to move down to Phuket, the well-known Phi Island.
And they set up their gym there.
So me, left here in Bangkok, I want to keep the gym up and running so
i i kind of took over the gym uh under under sit jurun suck and just for the knowledge sit in in in Thai means disciple or students so basically the name means the students of
Jerusalem because I was trained under him for many years and I tried to
I tried to basically teach teach the same style as how Coach Arun used to teach everyone else
and try to pass on his knowledge.
It might not be as perfect as how he does, but I'm trying my best.
Well, you're doing a great job.
Thanks for bringing back this legendary gym.
Thank you for the opportunity as well.
Yeah, I thought that we'd just chat a little bit about Jeroensak Gym,
Mr. Jeroensak, of course, the legendary Muay Thai coach,
who I believe you said may just be the best Muay Thai coach in the world right now.
And we'll chat about that and other things too but yeah what is it about mr. Drunzak that makes him such a special coach
well for me seven years ago when I came to the gym I was just I was just a Muay Thai practitioner.
So I didn't come from a hardship family that I had to train Muay Thai to make a living for myself.
I, to be honest, I train to lose weight and nowadays a lot of people casually jump into Muay Thai for health and business purpose.
And I felt in love with the sport and I felt in love with the training, with the intensity.
But I was training here and there gym,
kind of a fitness, kind of like a small gym.
So the gym that I've been training in the past,
they were good, not to be disrespect to any gyms,
but they didn't push me to my full potential
and they didn't kind of trigger me to do my best in terms of training,
in terms of like Muay Thai in general. So I had been training for a few years I do kind of felt in love with the craft but when I arrived at
Jeroon's gym basically coach Jeroon Superdad he just by training for like a
week he asked me directly he said do you want to take Muay Thai seriously? Do you want to
fight at least once? Just to challenge myself and see how do I really like it? And his question
and it would really kind of like make me want to challenge and improve myself. And he said that if I were to say yes, that I want to fight for real, then he will put
in the effort to teach me the correct way and push me further.
Basically, I was trained somewhere else and during that time but in those few years
i was training in kind of like a kind of half fitness moitai gym and the issue fitness moitai
gym is that they they focus on fitness which is not wrong that's you know that they go and but because of that it does make my moves a little bit
weird and incorrect and not 100% efficient so basically what he's offering
is he said I give I wanna take more high seriously is willing to to help me fix fix my movement, especially so that.
Sorry, that's a good one.
But yeah, so he was just trying to encourage me to do correctly.
And if I say yes, then for a fight, then yeah, he'll be teaching me the correct way of many things, which I was doing it wrong for so long.
And it's actually kind of harder to teach someone who has already learned something incorrectly compared to teaching someone who has zero experience.
Those are actually easier to teach because they are bland.
But for someone who do it incorrectly,
their muscle memory already been taught incorrectly,
So he was willing to put in the work if I was to say yes.
And I did say, yeah, yeah I wanna do a fight like once
let's do this for serious and here I am now yeah so for him the reason he's like the best coach
that I think the key is that he he tried to push and encourage everyone to do their best by not like strict training,
but his words and his questions. And that just bring out the best of the students.
Interesting. And so you're saying that his focus is more on technique, not on fitness. Is that correct?
Yes, yes, that's for sure. Because with fitness gym, their goal is to make sure you sweat your ass off. And I'm not saying it's wrong with that. Nothing's wrong with that, but sometimes they focus that too much and it
gives the students a wrong impression or a wrong technique. And when you do it repetitively,
it becomes a muscle memory, right? And it's something really hard to fix so just for anyone who is trying to like learn Muay Thai if you have
you know if if in your mind you were thinking you want to learn this correctly and you want to you
know execute the move and learn the craft not just for fitness maybe in the future or you've
been training a little bit and you felt in love with the odds, I recommend you stay away from the fitness style Muay Thai because they won't
fix your movement when it's off because their goal is to make sure you sweat, you're tired, and if your kick is wrong, if your balance is off,
if you're not twisting your hips,
if you're not doing it correctly,
or maybe you do it correctly 50% of the time,
That's fine for them already.
But if you're at like a legit Muay Thai gym, I'm pretty sure,
you know, you as the student hold a little bit of their legacy. So they won't let that off the
hook if you're doing it wrong because you're in a way representing the name of the gym so they won't like let you do like a weird kick or because it's
it's not practical to be honest if you were to happens to go into a ring or
even though you know some bad situation happens those those fitness cardio moves won't be practical in real life for fighting.
And yeah, so just a note for anyone who's like just started or have interest or already
training a little bit and they were in kind of like a fitness Muay Thai gym. If your goal is just to lose the pounds, lose the weight,
then yeah, you're not in the wrong place.
But let's say you already did it and you felt in love with your arts.
You want to learn correctly.
I recommend you open for more options
and look around for like a legit, legit Muay Thai gym. Yeah.
Yeah. So Jeroen's that then is the technique over fitness gym,
which is interesting. Uh, yeah, it makes sense.
He certainly not had me doing any 5k sprints or anything like that so far.
Uh, it was just drilling with kicks and knees and playing to my strengths, I guess.
Yes, yes. Another thing about fitness gym is, in my opinion, is that let's say you buy the
course for a fitness gym. The session is, let's say, an hour and a half. And already nearly 45 minutes, they're going to have you do some jump rope, some sprint, some kind of like aerobic exercise, cardio movement.
So, you know, the coach is going to come and you're in a class group of like maybe five, maybe ten people.
And then maybe the coach do some kind of move.
You guys ask the student follows follow the
movement and it's fine if it's your first few times but to be honest you're
paying money to do something that is kind of repetitive and once you do it
for let's say let's say you join those class for like five times or like four times, I think you're going to remember all the moves by that time already.
And on the six, seven, eight times, you don't really need the coach to be there and like repetitively do the same move again and again because you already learn it.
repetitively do the same move again and again because you already learn it and it's not something super complicated
having like a legit coach
see your movement see your style and then you know give feedback
I think that's like the real key to train Muay
Thai because if you're following like a set of move to be honest bro you can
just open up YouTube and do it at home right and you don't have to pay that
much to do those things but to have someone with experience seeing your
movement giving you feedback correcting you those are something that is not something achievable from YouTube or from doing it your own.
They really care about you and it's kind of like a school.
It's kind of like an educational place because each student, each individual has their own
style of learning, of understanding stuff.
When you join a group class Muay Thai Fitness, they're not going to invest their time to look at each and every one movement, balance,
kicks and go to each individual.
Hey, you need to do this more.
So for them, they won't do that.
They just, you're there to sweat and your goal is to sweat. So as long as you
work hard, you're sweating, I think the coaches are fine.
Yeah, so that would be my take on the gym, the Muay Thai business and the legit Muay Thai
But I understand that sometimes when you join a legit Muay Thai gym, it's kind of scary,
Actually, especially when there's a lot of Muay Thai fighters, you know, a lot of masculine energy. Sometimes you go in and,
you know, dudes are kicking back like so hard and, you know, people shouting,
oi oi oi oi. So it can be hard to take in for a lot of people. That's why I think the fitness gym is more approachable.
But yeah, there's pros and cons in both.
But if you love the art, if you felt in love with the intensity,
and you want to know the craft, you want to execute them correctly,
even though you don't plan to fight for real, please open for options and try out like a legit Muay Thai gym
and see it out because it's going to give out like a different vibe and they're going to care
about your execution more than just your fitness. Yeah. Yeah, and especially with coach,
I'm just adding a little bit.
the gym itself and his style
It's very like family kind of vibe
because it's not Jerusalem gym is not like a big gym building
building you know tens of fighters he basically coaches for coach main focus is to have the gym open to run run it for Anna for his daughter so like he's his his main goal
is to have this very nice environment nice vibe so that his daughter can
train efficiently and it's it's not gonna be like a super busy fighter gym where you go in there's like you know 15 Thai fighters
who is fighting fighting every kind of month and and sometimes those team can felt a little bit
overwhelming because there's so much fighters and sometimes the coaches, obviously
the coaches are very experienced.
I'm not disrespecting anyone in the gym in any way.
But sometimes because they have a lot of fighters, their priorities might be set on the fighters
in the gym and if they have a lot of fighters in the gym
then the priorities of the fighters are higher than you know let's say you're a
foreigner who comes to Thailand for a few months and you want to train so
obviously the trainers they because they are familiar more with the Thai and the fighters themselves, they might be more friendly and investing with the fighters. students has to kind of like sink in, spend some time there a little bit, maybe some few
weeks, two weeks, three weeks to the point where the coaches or the trainer kind of starting
to like you and then they'll invest more time or you can just go up to them like hey I really want to buy this and that and I think you know Thai people we are if we are we love it when foreigners are interested
in Muay Thai and we felt the pride and we also are very proud to represent our arts So I think if you are sincere and you go up to your coach in your gym and say hey
You know I've been training and I felt like I want to give it a try just for self-challenge
Would you train me you know real hard for a bite?
I think a lot of trainers, most of them for sure,
are going to be happy for you.
And they're going to invest more time and effort to you
because you showed him, right?
Yeah, so just another point on people who want to sell it.
So I think if you speak it out you show them yes for sure to train
from like a legit fighter gym they will invest the time
on you a lot more yeah as if were you were just to like
train for a few hours and go home
right but if you tell them hey I wanna fire one self challenge
but like everywhere else it takes time
it's a little bit where you were like
fit in and you're you can joke around with the trainer you can you know get to know each other
more yeah so yeah that's that's my take on on like a multi gym that's it's fitness and Muay Thai gym that is like a legit Muay Thai gym slash fighter gym.
I'm sure we'll talk about that more as well at some point.
Would you like to tell us about the current head coach of Jeroensak Bangkok, Mr. Lech?
Oh, yeah, sure. So our head coach now is Kulak, also known as Mr. Ratanashai Sobervin. That is his famous stage name. former WBO champion in his time, I think around like 20 years ago.
So he was a friend, close friend of Coach Jerome.
So we have him at Jerome Saks since before Coachon left for Phuket.
And Gulek has a really, really good energy vibe
And for anyone who has been training Muay Thai
for a while, I think each trainer
kind of has their own like style and vibe to it but Black is special because he's always energetic and he's always positive when he's doing the pads so he's always like energized he's always make sure you put in a lot of volume, a lot of power.
And he's built to handle guys who are 90kg, 100cm tall.
So he's built to take in big guys.
Some trainers are, because Thai people are not built that big sometimes, if you're a foreigner and you're like super heavy, you're super big, sometimes when you pair with like a small trainer, it can be a little bit hard for the trainer to take in your force your blood force your power but
he has no problem with that at all he can take big guys he and and even with
like tough big guys he always make sure the student puts in the volume and puts in the power so like with his style um
me training with him for a while i i do i do know that like uh when i train with him then
i can increase the volume of my practice a lot more and especially him coming from
So he used to be a Russian Muay Thai Stadium champion and from what I know is he accidentally
kicked an elbow of his opponent so his feet was off feet was off for four years and that made him kind of like
a bit uh muay thai for a while for a very long time because um when your your feet is is um
you know damaged a lot it's really hard to heal so from what I know is after that
accident he was kind of out of the Muay Thai picture for a big while and then
somehow there's an opportunity for him he was already like back home somewhere
far from Bangkok doing like farming stuff and then I think one of the
promoter was calling him like a you know you want to box
they will fight they're trying to find him like a
by something like that and he
he kind of like a jump back in to boxing
and when he was in the States, he become a world champion.
And I think he was the underdog.
So no one was thinking that he's going to win.
They're going to not just bring this not really famous,
just normal Thai fighter, former Muay Thai champion but
in box but surprisingly I think when he go on to the world stage in boxing he
he win the champion and he become I think two weight class in the VO as well.
So yeah, he shook the world with his boxing style and when you do the pass with him,
he brings out your boxing style so if you're looking for
I didn't know that he was out of Muay Thai
and then they called him back in that's really interesting
great to get that story off him maybe we could interview him one day and get his story uh from
his own mouth because that's really interesting because he was world champion in two weight
classes and now he's the head of training at runesack gym i guess so what a great story yes yes yeah and like
when with with another train of a great trainer is so to to be positive and to be full of energy
i think like everyone would understand,
like when you're with someone who is quite lively,
who is quite lively, energetic,
it brings out your energetic side.
We're social animals, we're social creatures.
So when you're close to someone who is energetic,
positive, then you absorb it naturally.
And if I have to define him, that's basically him.
When you hold the pads, it just makes you happy and you push in more. Sometimes the trainer can be sloppy, sometimes the trainer
can be lazy. I mean, you know, we are all human so I'm not pointing fingers but he
absorbs things like unintentionally. But with him he's always lively, he's always smiling, he's always joking around, he's always laughing.
Yeah, so that's his best trait for me, I think.
How common is being positive in training? Is all Muay Thai training positive? Or is it just? Is it quite rare? Is Mr. Lekker an
I would say, I would say it's, it's like a good fundamental
trait for a lot of trainers. Most of them has to have like a
I a bit about a positive this to you know
and energy to do me now the
student because obviously yeah morning at them and their
and they should be and not to be the one but they should they should give you
like the the urge like you more
or on one more one more and and and
a lot of care of trainer aren't like that but Blake he is is special because he it comes out
from his his smile and his laugh sometimes we got got a trainer who was kind of like scary
and they could be like, one more, one more.
They could be a little bit threatening,
but him, he's always like bubbly, he's always smiling.
And he doesn't look threatening,
but it's the energy and the positiveness that he brings
that it kind of push you in a positive way.
Sometimes trainers motivate students with a little bit of threat. They look a bit scary, they look a bit strict, and they shout.
I mean, obviously they have good attention.
It's not like they want to kill you and stuff like that.
But yeah, with Kulek it just come out naturally, I think with his personality and that's his style.
And it's come out effortlessly for him as well, I think. Just because that's how he is usually. So when you name him you always kind of have to feel lively, you're okay.
It's not stressing, not threatening, not fearful, but you want to put the energy in because
he's putting his energy in.
So that's my take on him.
I know you're obviously one of the top trainers at Sit Jeroonsat Gym, Jeroonsat Bangkok.
What's your history of Muay Thai?
You obviously have had fights now.
What's your own story of your own fights in muay thai
well i'm i'm myself i'm just 31 years old so i wouldn't compare um myself as like you know
legendary trainer with a lot of experience i'm still i'm still uh i consider myself i'm still a student of the arts myself, but I came from a little bit of a newer generation,
I would say. Traits that I am a little bit more polished than other trainers is that I try to look
things in a very systematic and practical way. So I try to read, analyze and explain things quite clearly.
So I would tell anyone who's learning on when to use this move, why.
So the reason, I kind of explain a lot of theory,
because I felt like if anyone who's learning anything new, when they understand the picture very clearly, meaning, which I think is a lot, it
is kind of like traditional, I would say for like a Muay Thai trainer, they would just
repeat this a thousand times, you know, like kind of like conservative style.
And so when you're new to learning learning you might not understand why do i have
to do this you know so repetitively why do i have to um stand like this why do i have to do this
and the trainer they might not be um willing to explain to you that much because they they are
taught that way they they're not taught to like questions and they're just like do it do it do it do it
to until your your muscle memory like learns it by heart and then by that time
I mean if you're if you're if you're like if your whole life is dedicated to
Muay Thai then maybe that's the good rule but if for people who just you know wanna
get into it, learn the craft, understand a lot of stuff, I think by my style of training
I would explain theory first and make sure you are the person who learned it understand when why how and
then once you understand all those stuff you could go do it you could go do it
in practical on the back and just and you wouldn't and you wouldn't and you wouldn't be confused. And once you understand the theory behind it, then you
can apply it more freely. My style is technical, so that would be, at least for me, when I learned things, I want to understand when, how, why.
And then I could polish the moves with the heavy bag.
And then when I practice by sparring, then because I understand the theory, then I would apply it. And for
me I felt like that's easier for me or that fits me well. And I think a lot of people
would feel the same. They would want to know how to guard, when and what kind of guard is good for which situation.
And when they understand this stuff, like the when, the where, the how, the why, You become more technical, you become more diverse in your style.
You have varieties because you understand a lot of things.
You don't have to stop with one set of moves.
You don't have to stop with like, oh, you know, this is my cow.
I'm going to be a knee fighter.
I'm training to like, I'm training to be endurance, but
I try to be, I try to teach a little more on technical style so that the person can
feel like, if I wanna be this style today, then I'll be this style. If I'm facing someone who is
If I'm facing someone who's
technical, they like to be on their
back foot, then I change.
behind your back and to understand
then you have a lot more arsenal in
in your craft yeah so that would be my my take
interesting love hearing your take and i've never told you this before but your english is fantastic
it's really good oh thank you thank you thank you yeah so that might be another strong point
so for anyone who is like
deeply not just practically
you're listening back, ladies and gentlemen,
and you would like to train with great trainers of technique
and also great English and Thai,
then Jeroen Sakjim Bangkok is where you want to be.
So how do we, I know the answer, of course,
but how do we find Jeroen Sakjim?
Yeah, so if you happen to travel by the train, BTS or MRT, we are located at Bangwa BTS and
also Bangwa MRT is basically is lucky it will fortunate that
the we are close to both the MRT
and and the BTS because in this one location
is is a combined of the SkyTrain and also the MRT which is kind of like half
so if you happen to live anywhere along
those lines maybe you in Ramah 9 I'll
let's say to compare Tom law
or like sat on BTS and you could hop up
on the this the train and come straight to Bang Hwa station but you need to exit the BTS station.
So if you come from MRT that's fine just go to the BTS platform and then get on the exit number five
There will be like a little skywalk just few minutes like five minutes
It will cross you across like a little river
When you pass the skywalk on the way down you see a bunch of
Motorcycle taxi and you can just come down tell them
hey I'm go I want to go to Muay Thai gym in Sawai Thay Thay 59 or you could just
say Muay Thai gym because I think we're the only one here and they would they
would take you straight to our gym and it costs only 15 baht on the motorcycle taxi.
And you reach up by them.
That easy if you're close to the BTS or MRT. taxi or bike, basically tell them that you want to go to Thay 59 and the taxi will take
you to the spot when you come into the alley, just go straight, it will take you to a temple called Wat Ko Non and from there it's a little bit
tricky you have to go a little bit into the alley and you will reach the Muay
Thai gym but I'm very confident that once you at the temple Wat Ko Non you
can ask any local Thai where's the more time gym and they're happy
point you out the direction or another way it just
dead there is a you can DM me
on Instagram and I can send you to location of the map or you could
Google are sit during suck on google maps and that will also show
our location on google maps as well yeah i think on google maps it may currently say jerunsak
not sit jerunsak so if people are searching for that it's jerunsak bangkok uh is sit jerunsak
gym it may get updated on Google Maps in the future.
But yeah, it's very easy to find.
It's like a 10 minute walk from the BTS, I think.
Very nice 10 minute walk from the MIT as well.
Get those muscles loose and then you're
ready for the trading a few minutes later.
Basically, if you foreigners love to walk, for us, we're not too much.
But if you guys have no problem with walking some distance, then that's fine as well.
So from the BTS, you just walk down this train, follow to Tide59,
probably take you about 10 to 15 minutes, no more than 15 minutes.
And yeah, it could be like a little warm up
to watch the gym already.
So please check out young Sitjarunsak's Twitter page
and you can find his Instagram page.
I think it's pinned at the top
and that will show you the map as well.
So people, once you find it,
you won't have another problem.
So we're going to do regular spaces
or drop them up every so often,
hopefully get some people in and spread the word by voice.
So I did send an invite to Mr. Jeroonsak.
He's got lots of students.
So maybe we can get him for another week,
maybe next week or when he's free, we'll find out.
But yeah, this is the Jerunsak official Twitter space for Muay Thai.
So I've really enjoyed chatting.
Thank you so much, Edward.
I appreciate you having me on as well. And yeah, and thanks for this awesome show.
And you're a great host as well.
I've been doing it for a while.
I've done it for a couple of years in the blockchain space.
So I'm honored to be hosting one in the Muay Thai world.
Yeah, we could do it more often for sure. Yeah, great. Let's do it.
I'm ready maybe to have my first fight. I think I'm ready. There's someone called Rod Tang. I think
I'd like to fight him next. I'll admit you, I'd like to chew off, but yeah, I'm confident. It will be a very entertaining fight.
And who is your dream next fight?
To be honest, I'm focusing on the gym right now,
but if there would be an opportunity once
it comes, then yeah, I don't really mind as long as it's fair, same weight, similar
heights, and that would be good for me.
Yeah, well, that's great.
And, yeah, before we close off, what's the next Jeroen SAC event?
I think you mentioned it early, but I'll just do it again.
So if nothing goes wrong, we have one of our students fighting on 26th of April.
And it will be like a local festival in a temple near Onnut.
So, yeah, hopefully if everything went well and smooth,
we will have some footage to upload and by then, yeah.
Okay, well, that is brilliant yeah that's a great thing to
end on with teaser coming up ladies and gentlemen 26 of April and we've got
tiny year coming up what next week now so song Karan is coming so happy song
Karan to you mr. young yes to YouTube. And to everyone who's enjoying their time in Thailand,
please enjoy the Songkran, enjoy this wet, hot kind of vibe,
and this crazy vibe of how we celebrate Songkran every year.
So hope everyone's enjoyed themselves and don't get too drunk.
It's definitely the world's best drinking water festival.
It is chaotic and fun at the same time.
Young, I know that you're off to your business now,
