real-time social listening product that's built for retail traders.
Every time you have a token that you're curious about or you plan to buy or sell it,
instead of just doing it blindly, you can now come to Alpha to check what everyone has
been saying about it across time and even in the last few seconds.
We also use AI to analyze what is happening on-chain and also what's happening in the
macroeconomic environment
so that you have better context to make a better trading decision.
Hey, Loomdar. How are you?
Hello, Xu. Yes, I can hear you loud and clear. How am I coming through?
Great. So hi, guys. this is your host shubit
and just like you saw i work for alpha and alpha is a social listening tool just think of it as a
great trading platform where you can check what people are talking about that certain ticker
check the macro news and also some part of ong data and today for this video i was so i'm so
honored to have lumdar to be honest it's like such a figure. And personally, I'm really
bullish on what he's been doing. And, you know, he's the CEO of
ByWazi, and I'm a holder of ByWazi. And I've been like doing
some user user interview for him. And we just came down to this
why don't we have a streaming together? And why don't you
explain more about what you've been doing so i get too much hi lumbar please say hello to us hello hello everybody and
yes shu thank you for having me gosh it's been a while since i last like streamed with my face
but yes we've been in my i call it like dungeon goblin mode for the past year just building out
I think myself are really, really cool.
Hopefully everyone sees them in the stream
and is like, wow, Loom, this is all so cool.
Then I get some pats on the head.
And yeah, I just want to take you guys
through everything we've been working on.
I mean, dude, I thought you were very anon
because you barely show your face.
And is there any reason why you came out with your real face
and talking to the audience with like your own product is there any like thought process behind
i mean i wouldn't say entirely anon like i've been in two public boxing fights the first one
where they made sure to dox me as well as possible but i mean i have a lot of physical stuff to show
and it's kind of hard to show i
mean i could wear a mask but then it's like a bit weird and you know i so much of loom lock is kind
of you know retail facing more like just general consumer product world where you kind of have to
show your face and the concept and product needs like a figurehead
and i'm far not edgy enough to do that with mask on it's just easier fair and people were going
to believe you more so i'm so glad that i can you know i can face to face talk to you and because
you just talked about those physical boxes i know that's part of loomlog can you tell us about like loomlog uh yes of
course although your background kind of makes it look like you're streaming on like a street which
is very interesting okay anyways yes sorry that was a bit of digression gosh where to start with
loomlock it's been a multi-year journey to say the least but we're finally at a stage now where
oh this is the bad boy the beauty where the loon lock itself is kind of finally done there's going
to be a few months of just getting the mold ready for like mass production and then you know if we
want to make 10 000 or a million of them it's like a few week process of doing that but now that like the
physical side is done done we've really started engaging in like more kind of mass market
partnerships collabs and I guess I'd call it like the media push or the like hey guys you know this
thing is real it exists it's something we're working on push starts now what better a place to do it with than starting off with my dear shoe
got it um so so what i know about lumlog it's it's coming from by wazi nft collections what's
the like correlation between by wazi and lumlog yes so effectively when we did the nft drop back
in 2021 we were pretty well aware of the fact that like i mean
not as aware as we should have been but physical stuff takes a very you know there's a lot more
processes involved with doing something physical and we wanted to have something that could kind
of keep people entertained engaged while that like process was going so that's when we embarked
on like the by wassies collections are kind of i mean throughout this stream i'll show a few things that will benefit by like loomlock
but we kind of trialed them and tested them out on the bywassies front first like some initiatives
some different ways of users engaging with stuff especially on chain which i'm pretty excited to
talk about in like probably about an hour is when we've scheduled it in right she was giving me an amazing timeline of like hey loom you must say exactly this exactly
this time she's pretty scary but yes and kind of something to you know keep the community engaged
and tied in yeah I mean like like you and me we are such a believer for NFTs because NFT can be anything.
And I can totally get it that from the NFT community, who is like very dedicated for the idea,
if you start something, you can build something way bigger with the core fandom.
And like, what is Loomlock exactly? How does it function?
Let me tell you the story of like why the concept of Bloomknot came about.
So effectively, as a kid, I realized pretty early on that I was very susceptible to distractions,
especially in my case, it was like MMOs.
And what I used to do for a while is I had a pretty nice router that would let me basically be like,
all right, between this time period and this time time period I just didn't have access to the internet with the
idea of all right you know between 5 p.m and 8 p.m I don't have any access to the internet which
means I have to just you know like I could focus easier on working and studying. Eventually realized
that for a lot of stuff you kind of needed that access and i couldn't just
blanket turn my router off because you know like i it wasn't just me in the household it's my
parents everything as well and it was it was getting kind of problematic so i needed to find
another way of just having like a focus period where i could fully fully zone out and like not
have any distractions so i started this multi-year journey of effectively trying out
every product already existed on the market that would suit my needs and over the course of three
or four years tried out everything and kind of realized that like there was stuff that suited
the purpose but just like wasn't it wasn't given like enough love and
care like someone came up with a product that kind of worked for like time locking and then
just left it like not real much innovation was done and was like all right i dream one day in
my life that i'll be able to build something for this very specific use case that is what I myself would want to use.
It's always nice building something where you yourself are the first user, the first customer.
And then, yeah, so effectively, I guess that hasn't really explained what the Loom Lock is, but
it's a... I don't want to say the term padlock because we did a few things that make it very much not a padlock.
But it's effectively a device that uses time as its method of locking.
So you go in here, you can set if you want to lock for an hour or a day or 10 minutes,
you set your time using these two buttons and then just lock it.
And the idea is you can lock stuff that's like i guess just distracting
to you it works on a few different science concepts which i will get to just after i show
everyone the boxes but yeah it's we wanted to keep it as simple as possible because it's becoming more and more of a trend now but even back then
like six seven years ago when i was trying all this stuff out myself there was a few software
versions of it like hey you know you can block this application for this period of time the issue
with the software stuff was that it gets finicky and there's always ways around it like you know you can block the instagram app and then
you can just open instagram on your browser and the more complex these systems get the just it
actually the distraction becomes all right i've blocked instagram for an hour to focus on work
i'm not going to spend an hour trying to unblock the app or delete the app or like figure out how
to get around it which and
i mean thankfully you know i was the first user for all of this stuff so i just basically built
it in mind of all right what would loom dart try and do to bypass this and how can we stop that
and kind of came to the conclusion of like look it's a very you know it's a physical lock in the
digital world where you set the time and it locks and there's nothing with it that you can really reason there's no like distractions from the product itself it's like
everything's so online and technical nowadays that having something that's literally physical
can't be bargained with reasoned with i think made sense as like the solution to the issues
I mean, I really get it. So attention is limited resources. And everyone try to extract that
limited resource, which is attention from the user, us. And we have really hard time,
you know, focusing on one stuff. I also like one stuff. I want stuff. I really, I also
suffer from that, especially when I try to go bad my phone is ringing especially when I post
my selfie my Twitter is burning and then I just want to check it right so popular not popular but
this is like crypto world like 90% here is male you know they just like my selfie a lot and I got
like a lot of dopamine here but I just really want to some somehow really um put
myself away from all these distractions but really software I also tried like few things like there's
one thing I like one of them was I was able to make a forest if I keep the rule if I don't look
at the phone for the time that I promised in the beginning. So that after having my own garden very well, like, flourishing,
then I feel the sense of, like, successful feeling.
Then I can also show people that I was focusing for this much
using the screenshot of my garden.
Like, it was good, but like, there are so many distractions,
not just that, but maybe iPad or whatever.
And so Roomlog, this product is for you because you suffer from
the distraction issue adhd i can tell you're like i say you are very um very typical crypto bro
aren't you oh wow typical crypto bro i i did not come here to be insulted no you are because you
are like you are very good at focusing i mean it's
god i mean this is a bit of a digression but like there's a big push nowadays of like hey guys you
know stocks should be traded 24 7 we shouldn't have like weekends off and i i think that will
doom the like that will spell the doom of humanity like we humanity this chase for efficiency and this chase for like you know we
need to be able to access as many things for as much time as we can is just very very draining
and i think crypto was a good like early example of just how damaging to people's psychology
and people's mentalities being perpetually plugged in can be because like one of the biggest issues
in i guess crypto and like
i mean it's not really an issue it's like a feature that's also a bit of a bug is that you
know there's always something going on it's not like localized like all right you know crypto is
american thing or crypto is an asian thing or crypto is a european thing it's a global thing
which means there's kind of always something to do at any time.
Like there's always someone DMing you, someone talking to you, even if it's like 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m. your time.
And like it's, you know, it's the world in general is getting more and more connected. And there's just more and more distractions and more and more like little feelings in the back of your head of like, hey, you know, I should check my phone.
you know, I should check my phone, I should just quickly check, maybe I've got an notification.
I should just quickly check. Maybe I've got a notification.
And actually, a big part of Loom Lock that we're looking to dive into, we were at the final stages
of getting into a collaboration with like a Colombian university and having like a neuroscience
PhD, overview everything. Diving deeper into the whole concept of the term is phone proximity
and it's this relatively new concept but studies and general people's academic awareness has
really really skyrocketed since covid because like covid was such a pivotal time in like
everyone's life in terms of like hey you know for the one or two
years that it was like a big big problem everyone was kind of stuck on their phones in their homes
not really much to do and that now that you know covid is kind of somewhat past and people are
outside and doing everything again a lot of people haven't like fully woken up to the fact of like
you know you can do other things other than be on your device
and so the academic fields were like okay we should kind of look into like why this is occurring what's occurring with this and so the concept itself is called phone proximity and it's this
field of research into the concept god i said concept like eight times i'll say one more time
into the concept of just having your phone near you not even turned on has a legitimate
impact on your cognition and the way we're kind of viewing it is like just imagine there's it's
not a loud noise but there's this perpetual little hum in your head of like like hey you know you
should check your phone you should check your phone And the phone doesn't even need to be turned on. Just knowing that it is something that you can
access, like that has a detrimental impact on just your ability to concentrate. It's been shown in
most of the studies that have been taken in that realm. But we wanted to kind of help lead the
charge in that area and start doing some studies ourselves.
It's the academic process is very, very interesting. And I'm super excited to like dive into it deeper and have some stuff that, you know, has like our badge on it and kind of shows why we exist and why we're building what we're building.
Because one one common bit of feedback we've gotten is like hey you know just don't go on your phone like
you don't need a device to help accomplish that for you and it's interesting where like you know
from the phone side all of these companies are spending billions of dollars in r&d and research
and consumer marketing to ensure that you spend like an extra 10 minutes just scrolling on tiktok
like interesting example is if you remember
YouTube like 15 years ago, you know, you would, okay, I want to figure out how to paint. You
search how to paint. It shows you a video. You're like, okay, sweet. This video taught me how to
paint. YouTube nowadays is like, okay, I want to search how to paint. You search for how to paint.
There's like 50 different videos.
There's a video that's going to auto play.
It's just very, very well engineered to ensure that you're as distracted as possible.
And then on the other side, which is like, all right, maybe we should be building stuff
that is helping counter these distractions.
There honestly really isn't that
much yeah back in the day when we were a child mom helped us and teachers too they just got our
like they just took the cell phone away from us and kept it with her and gave us back when we achieved something, when the time,
like maybe like some time passed
or if we do something good, they gave it to us.
But after growing up, no one is really can say
what to do or what to not to do.
So I was like, oh, like I have to have a very
like determined to make decision to not to look at cell phone because no one is telling me
what to do and they cannot tell me what to do. So Lumlo can be a mother and I just like you,
like I had an experience when I just lost my cell phone and my concentration level was like so
higher. Like so I am also craving that sort of emotion and situation again.
And I really like it because it's a very simple idea.
So there's a physical lock that can lock that is distracting me.
And I also like the idea that you have many boxes, maybe.
There's two things you mentioned I'll quickly cover because they're very interesting the first
of those is so there's a concept called pre-commitment which is like trying to condense
the amount of time you need to do something use your willpower on something into a shorter period
of time as possible and I love this example because like people understand it very well
which is like look if you want to have a day where you know you just drink some alcohol something you can do and this
shows pre-commitment very well is just you pour out the amount of alcohol you want when you're
sober which is a time of you know strong willpower strong mental fortitude and then you lock the rest
up for like 24 hours and then later on where you've drunk some alcohol
because of the choice you made early on
when you had strong willpower,
now you're drunk and you have weak willpower,
but you've managed to like take that willpower then
and have it stand for like the whole day
because you're drunk and you want to drink more,
but your alcohol is locked up.
And like pre-commitment, we're're not thankfully it's like a separate field of research and there's like already a lot of
academic stuff done there so it's not something we're going to be focusing our research on
but it's definitely one of the like underlying pieces of psychology that like impacts loomlock
and is something we've like built on top of but yes the little piece i said
at the start around like building this product for myself one big other problem i realized with
the existing things on the market was one they would all be like one size fits all like hey you
know this is the time locking container it's the lock and the box in one unit which
it's the issue of like you know people and we saw in this through like going through just consumer
studies and like seeing what people were using these products for there's like over a hundred
different things people were using time locking containers for and you know each of these things
are different sizes different shapes and it just felt like all of the existing products weren't really doing justice to like design.
You know, they weren't making something that you could put on your desk and be like, hey, you know, it should be like a staple piece of your home where when you have friends around, you can show off to them like, look, you know, I clearly take care of myself.
This is a tool I use to work better, more efficiently.
And it was just like honestly
kind of ugly so the cool thing with the lulock and something i'm super excited about is by
separating the lock from the box itself so this is only half of the equation the second half
of these boxes which i will bring in in a bit is that you can have something that's
aesthetically suited for your kitchen, for
your office, for your desk, for a school room, and it just makes it far more modular. So,
you know, someone who's going to be using it to lock their phones in. So this is a box
that we made for phones and it just works pretty standard. You just lock the lock on.
and it just works pretty standard you just slot the lock on
you know a phone lock is going to be different to let me get some boxes
oh i love these designs so much you know like you want something bigger to put more stuff in there
should be pins there but the pins are in the other boxes it looks like a nike shoe box yes it's it's
the exact same oranges and like shoe boxes we kind of realized just after we made it like okay maybe
that's very actually trendy like hip I like that and then also like you know stuff should look
nice stuff should be beautiful it's all obviously very very practical but like this is one of my favorite box designs so far that's by wazzy yes this is the slime by wazzy
and then like it all works kind of no no it's slime he's dripping
maybe he put an eyeliner and he cried a little no no he's melting it's too hot melting yeah the
plastic was so hot that the plastic melted it's it's a design but then you know like it all works
the same it works with the loom box so you can have stuff that's aesthetic that's and functional
got it can you open the box too i want to know how you open it. So they all have different open-closing mechanisms.
We're exploring a bunch internally to find which ones work best.
But this one, for example, kind of slots open.
There will be little shelves inside.
And then it slots closed.
And then when you put the lock in here, it locks it shut.
with all these different box designs is for some of them it's kind of a case of like hey you know what would i use the loom lock for i myself i mean i think nicotine pouches are one of the greatest
inventions ever nicotine is an incredible nootropic but ites are one of the greatest inventions ever. Nicotine is an incredible nootropic,
but it's also one of the most addictive substances in the world
and possibly something that you shouldn't be taking past like 6, 7, 8 p.m.
And it's like, well, look, you know, this box again works with the luloc.
And you can open it and put your goodies inside.
And it's just like a little visual demonstration
of like, what would I use the Loom Lock for?
Well, you know, here's one that you would use for Zim boxes.
I like the color, like purple and light green.
And what I just realized is if there is hinge and you replace
that hinge with room lock then one size fits all like on the hinge like it's a it's taken a very
long time to make it as modular as we desired it to be but like now that all of the pieces are in
place you know we can get very very creative and one big part of them like i
want to have is like a 3d design printing community where you know even though we'll have a lot of
different boxes and stuff available there's going to be people that come up with new mechanisms for
their own use cases and it's honestly relatively simple for someone to kind of be like hey you know
i made this specific design print it out and like integrate the pins and test it and then you know if any of those designs do really really well we can work with that creator
and like taking their design their concept into something that's mass market gosh got it so you
like i see many space where people can do customization. Maybe they can come up with their own box design,
or if they are tired of that,
they can just color it as the way they want to do.
And for the brands, like for example, for Alpha,
if we want to have a side event,
and if you want to give out users
or people who came to our party a good memorable souvenir,
then why don't we give out Loom Lock
and brand it with Alpha IP.
I think that will make a lot of sense. Have you thought about that? Doing some collaboration,
just like Chips. They're doing nails and they're doing amazing collaborations. I love that. Loom
Lock, I see great potential there. Like any collaboration, like it's an upcoming collaboration or...
Oh, that's a very, very good question.
And actually something I'm like personally super interested in and passionate in.
But I think we may have been rugged by Twitter potentially.
Yes, I got DM'd at the...
Oh, it's not working? On a Twitter?
Oh, we're rocked by Twitter! God!
X. View on Twitter. Let me see.
The number of... What? Why? Okay, let me do it again.
Oh, from when why did this
happen now it never happened to me and now oh my god
okay Elon's after us Elon is after us for real um edit no
i would just drop more boxes when we get back
but yeah i'm i'm super excited to talk about the
yeah let's go back to the
it's so interesting why this is happening like? It never happened like this.
Like still, it's not working.
Let me restart. Let's restart.
And stream and let's restart.
Life gives you lemons, and all you can do
is make amazing lemonade.
Have you ever made your own lemonade?
No, this is deep concentration, Shu.
