All right, good morning and welcome to the lucky lead. Today is Monday, April 17th. It is tax day here today. Hope you paid on
If not, you've got it just a few hours left. It is a miserable cold day here in Chicago after a beautiful spring week that might be a good summary of what the NFT market felt like this weekend. I'm excited to break it all down and also explain why we were playing that new song here as the intro
this morning. I see some friendly faces out there, Russia's score. Thanks for joining us. As a reminder for any new listeners out there, we run this show every weekday Monday to Friday at Tinney in Eastern. It's a 30-minute show covering all the major news in crypto, web3, and NFTs. This show is meant for those interested in discovering
Remembering the space, those actively buying and selling in the crypto and at T markets and those here just doing research. I'm your host Tyler D. I'm joined today by three amazing co-hosts. We've got Emily loves crypto, a Web 3 security expert and co-founder of the foolproof app. We've got Logan Hitchcock, Reppin the Lucky Trader account. He is our editor.
reason sunny for a straight week and now we've got snow on the ground. So pretty crazy here in Chicago. Indeed it has been. Well, we've got big show here today on the docket. We're going to talk about Adidas leaning into utility and with our new alt project. We're going to talk some AI and pop culture news. The Pepe mean
Bitcoin going nuclear as Bitcoin cools off, Pixel monrocketing and then NFTs seeing some recovery after a bit of capitulation. Before we jump into those though, a few housekeeping items goes if you want to read those off for us. Yeah, as always, Tyler does a great recap every morning in his morning minute newsletters. We've got that pins at the top there. If you haven't subscribed already,
please give that a subscribe. He works hard on it and it is great info for the NFT space. And then if you are interested in AI, we're going to be talking about this a little bit later, but we have a new feature here. We have that pins on the top as well. Powered by OpenAI is ChatGPT4. So that's our lucky lens product and it's like ChatGPT for Web3.
So check that out if you want beta access the announcement is pinned there to the top so like that retweet it and comment beta if you're interested in that Ghost thank you for that and we are definitely at the point where you have to stay up to date on all the breaking AI news Are you risk falling far far behind? All right folks, let's get it
into our top story is a DDoS major brand in the NFT space doubling down on utility. So while NFT holders are getting fed up with some of the typical utility from our mainstream PFP projects, there seems to be one brand doing things right and that is a DDoS and they'll begin to catch some steam here.
I want to talk a little bit about the ALT program. It was described as an evolving NFT journey from a DDS combines elements of PFPs, interactive storytelling and a healthy dose of utility. Essentially, ALT holders will participate in a series of steps to evolve and generate a PFP with certain
traits that they can choose which will dictate specific utility within the Adidas ecosystem. So here's a quick breakdown of how it works. So all it will involve in the PFPs via some holder decisions and engagement. Each PFP will have some universal utility within the Adidas program, then alter egos which are the
first set of traits will be able to choose or receive some custom utility down the line. So there's effectively a baseline of universal utility that everyone in this NFT project will receive and then some custom utility based on which traits folks either choose to evolve
or are lucked into the other participation into the program. So what are some of those features? So the universal utility features include exclusive access to bespoke physical and virtual products, physical and virtual experiences, co-creation opportunities, and token gated community channels like Discord,
performance is also specific. So there are eight different trades here that will provide that custom utility. They relate to different types of shoes, sports and gear, all with different rarities ranging from 17% to 3%. So for example, the Hoops trade is a 16% rarity trade. So 16%
and holders will have this one. This one provides access to a deed is basketball and other US sports athlete experiences. Then the most rare traits that the decos and drips trait, they're both 3% may offer access to co-creation opportunities and specific fashion experiences. It's going to make sense with that drips title. A quick quote
from Erica White's Ned, who is the VP of a data studio, also bringing the entire breadth of a data system as a sports lifestyle brand into the digital space, token holders will get special access behind the velvet rope. And we've seen some solid market demand as this program is rolled out with all its holding a 0.4
$1,000 across their $17,000 NFT supply. That's not the quick overview. I want to hear from our speakers, get some thoughts about this major brand, bringing some new and perhaps refreshing utility to the space. Maybe I'll start
with you. Have you been tracking the Adidas program closely? Then do you feel like this might be kind of a new wave of utility or force? I wouldn't say I've been tracking it closely. I had a Adidas NFT a while ago. I got my Adidas track suit, which is still sitting in its packaging, I think. I wasn't thrilled
with that purchase. So I think I sold my Adidas NFT after that. But honestly, I'm really happy to see that they're having success. I saw the price go up and I wasn't really too clued into what was going on. So I got a lot of insight from your morning, minute this morning. But it's nice to see a big brand coming into Web 3 and
kind of executing and actually doing things that make sense because we see so many of these brands that clearly just outsource the work to a firm that might not know what is going on in the space or really doesn't have a good boots on the ground field for what people want and you can tell and I think that with these announcements and kind of some of
these utility features, I think that these whoever is running the show here really feels like they have good insights into the community and have a good idea of what makes a good NFT in terms of utility. So I'm happy to see that they are having success there. Yeah, I tend to agree. I mean, I think about what a hardcore fan would want.
early access or exclusive access to shoe drops, events and gear seems like pretty much top of the list. So it seems like they're kind of really nailing the crux of what their fan base might want. But I'm also curious for what Logan Emily
I think so looking at all of you up first and then we go to Emily. Yeah, I don't think actually the utility listed here is anything revolutionary. It feels very much like many utilities that have been at least tried to pass down to holders. I think the the stark difference is that a deed is can do it, right? Like they actually have something
that people want versus just some nascent NFT project that can offer the same types of things like exclusive access but exclusive access to what. And that's the really stark difference, at least in my mind about this and it seems like a super easy slam dunk.
for a company like Adidas that has notable IP and notable fans to want to try to capitalize on. It's interesting to hear you say that and I want to come back to your comment there about how you know other other brands have done this. I want to revisit which ones may have done it successfully. But before that, Emily, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Yeah, I appreciate that they're getting a little bit more creative and how you can kind of decide how your European people evolve. That's like a step above what Nike did so far, right? And that would be their direct competitor. It is at least in the in the normal world.
I did go to their event at NFT NYC and it was a very hard to get into a popular event and they did
like a little treasure hunt there where you have to scan QR codes in different rooms in order to get your your swag bag and it seems like oh sorry
It seemed like there was maybe something tied to that as well. And they had one of their artists doing like a limited edition, IRLP's plus that Ft there. Like I agree with you that they seem a lot more intuned with the
culture. But what I haven't seen and want to see is something where they really are using this decentralized user management that they're building and maybe don't even necessarily know it. I come up with a really
really cool experience online for when you connect your wallet to Adidas.com to start shopping there with your web through wallet and get some special experience. So I'm still kind of waiting for the major brand to start doing that.
I hope I see it. Yeah, I got it. So you feel like some strong stats, but there's still a lot they can do. I am curious specifically how was the energy of that event? To me, I wasn't able to 10, but it felt like one of the top events.
and the NFT and YC slate. It was really cool. It felt like, you know, some sort of special exclusive getting to a store thing they had. Some, they had like goody bags with like Adidas merch. You got like a
All the influencers were there, which I guess says something about it.
It was definitely hard to get into and I snuck in. So well congrats on making it in. I do have a bit of FOMO. I wish I would have been at this one, especially now as I'm learning a little bit more about that. The ALT program, which I was behind on, Logan, I'm gonna come back to you. So you mentioned maybe not revolutionary.
I think when I was thinking about this Adidas program, I was writing up the story this morning. I was comparing it to Nike. And I feel like, you know, we know Nike is launching DotSrush and our Force ones, but it feels like they're still kind of ways away and pretty early on in their roadmap. So I think my question is, is Adidas beating
Nike in Web 3 right now. I definitely think so. At least at this point in time, in terms of how close they are to the finish line, of course, which will continually move further and further out. I would say yes. Yes, so.
I don't expect that these benefits are going to really seem too different than what Nike is going to provide with.swush and down the road and other programs from other companies. This seems to be the lowest potential hanging fruit between connecting NFT holders and these brands that they
and accumulating and consuming for years and years and years. So I don't think those things are going to change too much, but in terms of the execution, that's where you're going to see the people really stand out and those who understand the demographic of users in Web 3 and those who may not. And that's where I would say, yeah, I think Adidas is doing a slightly better job at present time.
There are others as well. We talked about metaverse fashion not that long ago, but Dolce and Gabana is trying to do something similar in nature, not quite as customizable, not quite as much empowerment for the holder of the NFT. But they're providing that exclusive access to products that of course we know people want.
Web 3 community want to participate in. Yeah, I think that's a fair statement. I cover this space full-time and I couldn't tell you the ins and outs of the DNG in a tea project. So I would say that is probably a problem. Ghost, I want to hear your thoughts, and then we'll move on. Yeah, I just want to say I'm curious to see how much this gets marketed to like a more normy brand or
more of normy community of people like of the Edidas fans because I think that this stuff is all great. But I think most of the people that were holding the NFT from the beginning were mostly looking at the price go up and just speculating on the NFT itself. But I think that a lot of these utilities are things that would really appeal to the broader audience that might not be in
will meet the road and they're going to have to start executing and run to see some exclusive products and some real exclusive events. That's going to be the test of how strong their product actually is. But it's going to be exciting to watch. I want to get into our next topic and start talking a little bit of AI today. But before we do that, let's read the news. Today's topic
headlines powered by a lucky trader. Trading volume came in at 18,000 a.m. on Sunday and one of the lowest volume days since blur farming began. OpenC Pro did capture 8% share with blurr down to 58% as it has some intermittent bid and listing issues last night. Leading NFTs saw some solid green on the board this morning
after several days of bleeding last week and calls of capitulation. Pixelman lead top movers surging 36% to 1.15 each at least 1.4 at peak as spirit now has seemingly jumped in full ahead steam on that project a FIWA one of one bittersweet sold for 90%
$290.8 yesterday or $210,000 and the Campi Pandas outlined a new dynamic rarity system using Panda points and featuring some new rewards. Around Web 3 and crypto, crypto market fell yesterday Bitcoin down 1.4% at 29,900 now below 30k even at 2090 the pep
a meme coin stole all the attention it jumped over 800x in a few days. It was third in volume on the Ethereum blockchain yesterday behind just a Bitcoin and USDC. Leading calls that alt season has begun and then a CS GO scan sold for around $400,000 yesterday a new all-time high for that game.
And then as some AI news, a couple big pop culture headlines from yesterday, the NBA included AI and chat GBT in an ad for the NBA playoffs yesterday. And then an AI generated song featuring Drake in the weekend went mega viral. So I want to touch on those here in a bit, but ghost anything that
I know we'll talk on the second here, so I'll leave that conversation for a little bit. But the CS go skin for $400,000. Those sales always blow my mind. And they make me think, how can anyone be bearish on gaming NFTs or NFTs just coming into that space at all when you see skins like that?
that are selling and they don't really have any utility outside of the game. And there's really no great way to sell it like a marketplace, it seems. So everyone's just kind of doing it over the counter there. So imagine if those get seamlessly kind of introduced into the game with like a nice UI that is easy to trade on. That's what every game or wants. And I don't think that they'll care whether that's an MFT or not#
I agree. It's also an interesting price point. 400,000 has been kind of the ceiling we've seen for some major PFEs like apes and crypto punks. I saw some discussion. Is that going to be the new ceiling for some of these skins or do they have more room to run? So that'll be interesting to watch.
Again, PixelMont is looking a lot more attractive knowing that SpiritNow is in the mix as they are one of the biggest market movers out there right now in this current environment. I want to quickly talk on AI. We don't touch on AI too much on this show, but it's becoming too big to not talk
about. It's now hitting mainstream pop culture. One quick personal anecdote. My mother came up. It was Grandparents Day at my school, my kid's school on Friday. It was also my birthday this weekend. And then as she was up here, she was asking me how to use chat GPT to help her in her current corporate job.
And I think it's an indicator that AI and specifically chat Gbt are becoming more and more mainstream and now this weekend we see major music and sports news starting with this MBA ad which features Jack Harlow asking chat Gbt a question What does AI know about the playoff some extra games?
to play it just so folks in here that haven't.
I'm saying this AI is supposed to be this all-knowing, super intelligent thing. But this doesn't tell me much at all. Yeah, this guy's not a genius. You know, it's exactly what he got. They want me to test it. I want to know what the AI has to say about the playoffs. Let's do it. Playoff. Energy. Different than regular season.
I'm not going to play the whole thing. It's a full two minutes and 45 seconds. But that it starts kind of going into the playoff energy and he's asking it for the best moments in playoff history. Ghost, I'm very curious for your reactions here. Someone who covers the NBA, a big sports fan, is this an
indicator that the MBA is bracing AI, are we going to start seeing some MBA top shot and so where chat GBT ads? What's your reaction? I mean, the MBAs have always been very forward thinking, I think under Adam Silver, who's the current commissioner, I think that they've done a great job of kind of being forward thinking in both technology and
other areas. So it's not surprising to see that, but I've said this before and it's always interesting to me. I feel like the NFT and crypto sector, I feel like we get exposed to things very early. So I feel like we've been using chat to you, to see a lot longer than the mainstream has kind of just started stumbling onto it. So it's always
is really interesting to me to go from the infant stage of this and then seeing these gigantic ads suddenly start popping up and now chat to you, BT is everywhere on TikTok, on Instagram. So it's just always funny to me to see how we're a little bit ahead of the ball just by being in this kind of small niche that we live in here.
I didn't agree that we there's a lot of overlap and we're getting a lot of exposure. Um, and it is insane how quickly things are moving. I just saw like a weekly recap yesterday of the major headlines, um, and brands making splashes, you know, new products from this past week. And it's just so much. It's almost becoming a full-time job just to keep up with.
all the ongoing developments. But another part of pop culture here is music. We saw that Kanye AI generated song from a few weeks back. Now things are getting a little more interesting. So this song I played at the beginning of the spaces. So if you want to hear it, go to the replay. We played the full thing.
It's called Heart of My Sleeve featuring Drake and the Week in featuring in quotes there. This thing went mega viral on Twitter. I think I saw 12 million views. It's already got 250,000 streams on Spotify, which I think is one of the biggest metrics that we've seen here for any AIG.
generated music here. So my question is, our music artist has done for now in this era of AI generated music and where do we go from here? I think it's going to be similar to what we've seen with the divide in art where some people feel really strongly against it and then there's some artists that embrace
And I think that say you're an artist who uploads a bunch of like track vocals like bass track vocals and I'm the weekend or something like that and I upload my vocals and then a bunch of fans can create songs around my vocals and maybe I have a platform where I can get a cut for that and then they can create songs and if that
that goes viral, then they get a cut as well. So I think it empowers creators more, but I do think that there will be artists who would be like, oh, I don't want any part of this and will be completely against it. So I think it's definitely going to be an interesting conversation around ethics and who feels strongly that it can empower them versus who feels like they're being kind of ripped off there.
I think it's awesome.
I don't have the answers as to what those conversations are going to lead to from the legal ramifications of IP and infringement of utilizing somebody's voice if they didn't allow for it or whatever. There's probably a bunch of headaches to sort through there.
like want to be creator type side. I mean, this is absolutely incredible. The unlock that you have as somebody who, you know, loves or enjoys music, but couldn't sing or, you know, something like that now being able to lean into a lot of these things. It should just lead to an explosion of awesome music. And it brings me back and I'm not sure if it was milk rose.
or another outlet that had provided something similar to this during the AI conversation recently that just an anecdote from like a paper long long ago about music being incorporated into like silent films or you know something along those lines is just one of those next innovation steps and all the people that were in the old school
we're speaking out against how blasphemous this type of thing was. We're going to have the same type of conversations with everything in relation to AI, but just something that has me thinking about this right now. There are going to be artists who are ridiculous, right? This isn't real, it's not true. And then you'll have those who lean in and embrace it and make awesome stuff.
that we'll all end up enjoying over time. Yeah, I certainly understand them not wanting the public to be able to use their likeness to create their own music, which seems very fair. To me, where it becomes a superpower is for those artists who embrace it and create essentially exponential content using, you know, their
vocals, their pre-recorded songs as is. That feels like the huge unlock to me and of course, the general public unlock as well. Ghosts, more thoughts, no more. Yeah, I mean, I just one use case that I was thinking of when I was reading about all of this was for like musicians that might have passed early or just are there estates now run their things.
like imagine if you uploaded the bass tracks for like Elvis or something who had passed and his stake in continue pumping out new music and if they have a great producer or something behind it you can create a whole new revenue stream or new content from an artist who might not be alive anymore so I thought that was a kind of an interesting way that we could see the AI kind of hit things going forward.
Yeah, I actually haven't thought about that. That is, there's a lot to unpack there and definitely a controversial direction or use case. But, man, there's also a huge unlock. Well, it's going to be exciting to see where this goes.
and maybe we'll start loosely covering more AI content on the show as we move forward. Well, I want to hit the Pepe coin or a few other headlines, but Ghost, why don't you take us through the top NFT market headlines from yesterday? Let's do it. Here are some of the top headlines from the weekend powered by Lucky Trader.
Mimlan tees a new GM show coming soon with a McDonald's looking billboard image on Twitter this weekend. Chimper's introduced a new arcade contest called QuackQuest. Chimper's that play the arcade game will be eligible to enter a raffle for rewards from a pool of NFTs.
Proof announced that a second set of artists for its upcoming Diamond exhibition, which feature Hideki Sukamoko, Ipskech and additional artists there. There was a Himongus Izuki sweep this weekend, a fresh wallet funded with 797 ETH accumulated 32 Izuki and 192 beans over the weekend.
X-man Comet, which I think we can all feel a little bit there. Alongside the pixel-mon resurgence was another comeback story with NFT worlds back up to a 2.4-E floor. The gaming project, which was originally building on top of Minecraft, saw floors as high as 14-E, before crashing, following Minecraft's anti-NFT stance.
goes thank you for that. Certainly as dookies are looking as strong as they have in the recent past since the whole Zagabar fell out from months ago and those look like they're going to continue to surge into that June Las Vegas event. I think the bigger headline from this weekend is definitely Jimmy dumping his apes his mid-tears
into those blurbids. He did kind of come out and say it was for tax reasons and that he didn't have any floors. So this is what he was forced to do. I'm curious if you guys are buying that as an explanation. I am not buying it whatsoever. I'm just the fact that he done just a few hours of or he's just really lazy.
just doesn't care about the money that much. But with just a few hours of effort, just kind of posting on Twitter, "Hey, I'm going to liquidate these grills here in the next 24 hours, send me your top bits." I mean, he probably gets another 50-EAT at least. So I don't know, I'm not totally buying his explanation there. And then now we've got to
bit of a trend here with with matchy sold off a huge amount of eggs Franklin sold off a huge amount of eggs. We saw Mando and OSF famously dumped their entire bag. Now Jimmy's selling some some mid-tiered rails. Is this cause for concern? And of course there's a lot of you know individual reasons in each of those use cases but it's
a pretty clear trend in my opinion. So Ghost does a former APOLE and I'm curious for your thoughts. I don't think it's that big of a concern. I think that there's a perfect storm of things for NFTs to go red right now between taxes being due, EF surging, which always causes NFTs to go up. And then you've got blur farmers like Machi and Franklin
kind of dropping out there, which is kind of a shopped system initially at least. So I think that's kind of a perfect storm there for people to dump NFTs. I don't know if I buy Jimmy's tax bill, but I don't have a reason to think that he's lying about it, but it does seem a little weird that he would have done that research. And one thing I was thinking about this weekend also is like, I feel like the#
So I feel like there's a lot more reactivity on the space now because we see everything on Twitter and we have a lot of things to do.
of people that are just ship posters that are posting negative comments or negative graphs there. So I think that it's become a little bit more negative in general, which causes people to feel a little bit more fear as opposed to discord where people are more likely to just vibe and build the community. Yeah, I mean, that's very true. And that's how the
timeline felt, you know, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, it was interesting coming back from NFT and my see where the vibes were solid in person and then you look on the Twitter timeline and it is just 100% doom and gloom full capitulation mode. But it seems like we've seen a little bit of recovery. I clone X was down to 2.1. It looks like it was knocking
on sub two, it's back to like 2.6 and again, this is a mountain green on the board. So it'll be curious now if this crypto run has stalled for Bitcoin and ETH, well that mean a gentle recovery here for some of the NFTs, PFP and R-Wise, certainly we'll
see. Just a couple minutes last we got quickly talk about this meme coin Pepe and went absolutely nuclear over the past few days. I don't even know what the total multiple is at this point. I saw a tweet last night that someone bought in for 0.0178 and turned it into 14. That was on 8
123 x and then it went up even more last night. I don't know if anyone's got the the market cap. I heard it was at 20 million, which is fairly absurdly high for a meme coin that's just a few days old. We talked about it being the highest volume coin on the Ethereum block
to have this Bitcoin and the USTC. So I'm curious, quick reactions. Does this one have any legs? Is this the next Shiba and part two is this the beginning of altcoin season? Go, so I'll tell you about this one. I do not get into this at all.
I just started seeing it on my timeline on yesterday a little bit. I don't know. I don't like jumping into those coins. They scare me. I feel like you're gonna get dumped on it any minute. It does have good meme potential with the Pepe. Everybody loves Pepe's. But I don't know how much like this has before people start dumping there.
And I know you've got some history in the altcoin space. I'm curious for your thoughts right now on either Pepe or is are we in for an altcoin run here? It does seem like we've had the right conditions to get an altcoin summer in play. The thing about altcoin
coins that I think NFT folks are inexperienced with is that they think it's entirely based on social media hype and you can actually use a lot more of those charting techniques on
all coins and this is due for one in absolutely enormous retracement and liquidity pool is not grown with the size of the market cap which makes it super volatile.
So, I mean, I myself have very strict rules on altcoins. Like, I would never enter an altcoin after a pop like this. It definitely needs to come back down. And I never stay in an altcoin beyond a 20x.
for a single trade at least like I may re-enter it if the conditions are ripe. But this one, I mean I, I'm shocked that there hasn't been a pepe alcoin before that hasn't gotten legs like this. I know there must be some other pepe alcoin but do
Just be incredibly careful. Make sure you understand how an automated market maker works before you get into an altcoin. And also, if you do something like join a telegram, use your regular
your regular don't get had social media skills don't get fished and they they only show you the good stuff when it comes down to it right like get on its cool that's going to show you the cells as well as the buys and yeah just just give yourself a little primer on i mean market makers if you're
or not in the experience, Chiquitter. Yeah, all all great advice. There are a lot of different factors at play, you know, when buying an NFT like Nakamegos or outlaws or the Dejan pump of the day when compared to altcoins. It's a different pool of people. There's a lot more going on.
than you might realize. But it seems like we might be in that season. So something to pay attention to while the empties are a little bit more quiet. All right folks, that is it here for today. Before we drop, what's on the docket? Mittwise, so we've got code.lawless that happened at 10 a.m. Eastern. We've got the memes by 6 5 2 9.
their back at 11am DK motion. Cooking off season three. We've got NBA Topshop Playoff packs coming at 1pm. Jason Bales over on Lucky Trader has a great primer for that new burn redemption and those playoff packs over on Lucky Traders and check that one out. We've got Sense of Spring by Florian Zumbron coming at 1pm.
It will show how much demand there still is for this ecosystem. The NBA Top Shot is introducing a new mechanism. We're actually doing a Spaces Live at 12 PM Eastern to break that down with Peter Jennings and Jacob Eisenberg. So join that if you're interested in the NBA. And then the Mythics claim long awaited. We'll kick off today. That's going
be a major test for the Proof Ecosystem. All right folks, that is it. That is our show for today. We will be back tomorrow at 10 a.m. Eastern. Thanks to our listeners for tuning in. Next to my co-host, everyone, enjoy your Monday. Let's make it a great day. Bye everybody.
