And Jesus saves You need answers No hello and welcome to another episode of No Cap Gaming. We're now on episode 11 and
we have an absolutely insanely stacked panel today.
It is crazy. We've got people in the house from all over the world and all over the space. So
let's get it on and start sharing this and start getting down to it. We have a
ACT session today with KOL vs. Creator. It's growth hashtag session.
And yeah, let's just go through some of these lovely,
wonderful audience members.
And yeah, say, for example, let's say, are you a KOL?
Do you identify with KOL?
Doug, what do you think?
Are you a call?
Oh, is that a question for me?
Yeah, it is.
Yeah, it is. Whoa, okay.
Am I on the screen too? Yes, I can see myself. Okay, great. Yeah, is that a question for me? Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is. Whoa. Okay. Am I on the screen
too? Yes, I can see myself. Okay, great. Yeah. You know why I'm a KOL? Because I'm spreading my
influence all over the place. We're streaming on so many platforms. I'm on my phone right now.
We're in Twitter spaces. I'm streaming in the arena. I already have about 30 people like
immediately show up. The thing is that like a KOL is key opinion leader. It means
that people want to listen to what you have to say. Now, my real work is a content creator. I
create content, but because I create the content and engage with people in a meaningful way,
as far as what I perceive, then people want to listen to me for other reasons. Now,
so I'm both of those things at the same time sir oh that's fantastic
and um we're happy to have you um kol and influencer um yeah who who else do we have in
the house we have these sexy breads who is uh just drinking so i'm just gonna call on you are
you a call are you we need to pull him up on stage first I think he still has to join on the panel. You are not on stage, Preds. I'm inviting you to speak.
We need to connect via X, Preds, please, if you can.
Because we're not taking the sound from here, bro.
Anyway, let's go over to the Shaolin while we wait for Preds to connect.
Yeah, I might get a little disconnected if I rug.
Please bear with me.
But, you know, I think this is a super interesting topic
because when I first heard of KOLs,
I actually think the term was utilized mainly in Asia.
And those were, you know, a lot of those people
who built their communities, you know, with WeChat and Tencent.
You know, a lot of these people were, you know,
basically influencers with, you know, activ of these people were you know basically um influencers
with you know activations people who could actually sell things so you know and and sell
them in the in the thousands i don't know if you've ever watched some of these videos but you
know they're basically like kol farms where they're just doing retail talking about fashion
talking about culture and really kind of pushing the narrative of, you know, what people's attention
span were. And so, you know, I think that's a lot differently than content creators, in my opinion,
because content creators do, you know, some production, but I do feel like it's more of
like documentation. Obviously, you know, as more production gets involved, things materialize a
little bit differently. I think the U.S. definitely do things differently than the Asian or Southeast Asian market. But yeah, no, I think this is something that's
interesting for me because one of the things I'm trying to better understand, and this is
kind of a spicy take, and I hope Doug comes right back at me, is if you're going to be a KOL and
you're pushing products and brands and informing people, do you think it's important to actually be
building in that space, right? One of the reasons why I say all this is one of the things in Web3
that I do debate is there's a lot of people who are hosts, spaces hosts, and they, you know,
content creators, but like they actually have never done like Web3 gaming, but yet they're
Web3 gaming hosts. And I'm just kind of like, where do we kind of define the lines and like,
web3 gaming host and i'm just kind of like where do we kind of define the lines and like really
evolve this space and kind of matured in a way that like people take things a little bit more
seriously because people actually know what they're talking about i love this panel because you know
short to say it's like we've all built in something very sexy yeah and very handsome
no but i mean it's a really good point because you know it's like this
a no true scotsman kind of thing it's like everyone comes into the space from all over
everyone loves games everyone loves being part of it everyone loves to do these things makes
make all stuff but it's like me as a trained game designer where do i draw the line between people
who should and shouldn't be allowed to do games because there is no should and shouldn't be allowed to do games. Because there is no should or shouldn't be allowed to do games.
People do, some of the biggest games companies have been made by people who
are not from a games background.
They just create CEOs and they just hire the right people and just get there.
Content creation, influencers, and KOLs.
I think it's really interesting.
KOL for me, when I first had it in Asia, the idea wasn't just, it's like
a different way of saying influencer.
It was like this person, if they think that, then other important people.
It wasn't about necessarily volume. It was about whose opinion.
Like this person could be not particularly famous, but if this person says it, then other important people are going to think similar along similar lines.
the important people are going to think similar along similar lines.
And I think actually, despite the hatred that calls get,
I think there actually is a very good fit for Web3
because we're not talking about volume here.
We're just talking about making those important people
for your project believe, and then that makes others believe.
So let's go around the panel and get some more people up
because we have a sat space today.
I can see plenty of people. Gaspode, you have your hand up are you a call uh i don't know um probably not by intention but i do have a lot of opinions
um and i only kind of put my hand up about it is i think that they can be good space hosts
as long as they know their limitation.
Like I've been doing spaces for three years and I've never built anything.
But I like to think it's my curiosity and not knowing anything that makes it good for a space host.
If I then told you how to build and develop a game outside of, I think this would be fun to see.
I think that's when you start getting
into the tricky territory of Twitter has a lot of opinions from people who have no experience to be
able to share those opinions oh I thought this show was just about who's more handsome me or
Preds or Alex that's the way gas like what for gas is gases double the trouble because then
he's also got a swarthy twin as well.
So you're going to have like two versions.
None of us have a fur coat like you, Doug.
So I think you win.
You guys are doing such a good job on this show.
It's hard to interrupt you and be spicy.
I really feel like that coat is wasted already.
If we put in the pre-show there, all we do is talk about my coat.
And I was just like, guys, what about my handsome face?
I'm sorry.
There's an entire universe of microorganisms living on it now.
It's a protected coat.
Like we can't, you know, there's war crimes.
It gets washed every three days.
It has like its own room.
It has its own closet.
No, I feel like it's like the next MMORPG is going to be in
Doug's Coat
Doug's Coat
I would play a game called Doug's Coat
Doug's Coat
let's find land on Doug's Coat
you know we're KOLs because we can't shut up
we want to talk about, no it doesn't matter what it is
we'll argue over what's the best chocolate bar
it's people that love to talk about no it doesn't matter what it is we'll argue over what's the best chocolate bar right like that's true it's people that love to talk love to communicate but the thing is that like everybody here on this panel preds alex uh ofid whatever yes all these people
look down there all these people hang out and build in their own way maybe they're building
a game maybe they're building um a guild maybe they're building um like pred has like 18 tables
in his like studio like every time i turn on a stream he's got like a different setup and a whole
new production studio you know like everyone here is building and doing stuff and when you do that
other people want to be part of what you're doing at least i do they want to listen to you like i
want to know pred's opinions on things because he cares enough to put time and effort and attention and curiosity into everything he does.
And therefore, his opinion to me is interesting, right?
And so, yes, you have to fucking be here building or doing something.
If you're somebody that only has spent time in abstract and you haven't been in the arena, if you just show up and act like you know everything and don't ask questions, you're not curious, you don't make connections with people, you're going
to just seem like, who the hell is this guy? You know what I mean? And people do that stuff,
not to pick on abstract or anybody, right? It could be anything. It could be from soul or from
like Polygon. But if you want to generally build relationships, you can show up with day one and
host an amazing show, but you really have to lead with building
and caring about the community first.
Yeah, no, I 100% agree on that.
I think you've got to know who you're for,
who you're, like, what you do and what you excel at.
And I think one of the good things is
that everyone has their own unique take,
their own unique way of delivering it as well.
Let's get, I haven't heard from Mr. Consul,
who we have around in the space.
Mr. Consul, how are you doing today, sir?
Big man, big man. I'm very, very honored to be here.
I had to make it to this one because my good friend, the old man gamer, in quotes,
and I show up to a lot of spaces together.
I have somewhat jumped in the middle of this discussion, so I'm not
really sure what the direction the question is, although I can just give a raw take.
Just rant, man. Just rant. It's good. This is what we do.
Yeah, for sure. I believe a KOL doesn't necessarily have to be a creator, right? You can be someone who's within an organization that's very influential and what
you speak is someone taken as law, right? You can not necessarily have curated a community per se,
but due to the works that you do to the organization you work for, so on and so forth, it grants you a little bit of that expertise, opinion, aura.
That's my opinion on that.
I don't necessarily think that they have to be creators
or the two are entwined.
No, that makes sense.
I mean, one of the things that I always think about content creation
versus like, you know, you're creating high quality content
but you could be followed just because you get rich and you make other people rich and like
is that does that make you a creator in that you're actually posting your calls
what do you guys think do you think that people are just posting figures
and saying like are you still active right now can you smoke weed and still be
successful do you see like that brand of 2022 bear market call are they going to come back again
or did they just see it every day i've seen some of them get murdered by like bots um botting and
just got rid of i think we've got more fun people left i'm not seeing the same crap again and again and again so much um after the laudio of course which thankfully off the easier free money comes about they will
come back very quickly very efficient with their energy that's what it is when the free money's
there they will have a lot of effort and as soon as they go to about you but my entire feed is full of that it's all copy pasta i mean yeah you just have to follow more people i mean oh i do matt i'm friends with every single
amazing person in this space it's just that the people that that post copy pasta get like 400
freaking comments on their post it's ridiculous i think that's the hard thing. Like, I mean, I like to follow, like follow people that I'd like to hear what they have to say,
even if they're not creating content. So, I mean, one of the things I'd sort of like to ask everyone
is who is it that you're happy to see on the timeline? Like, glaze your friends, glaze your
friends. Who is it that when you see them on the timeline, it makes you smile. You always like the
content. I'm going to glaze. I see he's probably not in here at the moment.
Hey, do you guys know how I literally learn foreign languages
by watching Preds broadcast?
Oh, bless you.
Like, I don't want to be bored.
When Preds is, like, speaking in a foreign language
and he's trying to, like, you know, talk about a thing,
I literally watch your your videos prez and
i'm just like oh this is like a challenge for me can i understand all the things there's of course
there's like subtitles often but like i fucking love that prez like i've done so many videos
randomly where i'm just speaking in like whatever japanese like yeah make it fucking a challenge
prez i love it thank you do you actually speak japanese i kind of hate that dog is being so
nice to me today because i can't mess with him.
But thank you, brother.
I appreciate that.
One of the things that is in my mission is trying to bring together both spaces, the English speaking space to the Spanish speaking, because I feel like there is a lot of opportunity for both parties
if we can collaborate together.
So that's kind of my mission.
And that's why every piece of content that we do, we do it in Spanish with English subtitles.
Or if I take the risk, like I did like two weeks ago, I make English videos with Spanish
subtitles.
So that's one of the things that I feel like sets me apart a little bit.
I'm not considering myself a KOL.
I kind of hate that word because it puts me in a position that I have to show up for something
or I have to, I don't know, I don't like that word.
I don't know. I don't like that word.
I just like to create things to do our research as a team
and put the best piece of content possible that we can do for the ecosystem
so we can try to push it forward as a lot of content creators are doing.
But also when you do that, Prez, when he does that, you're creating a niche.
Like you are filling a need.
You're creating a niche. It's something you can identify as. And identify as and i go like oh wow here's another cool video of prez
that's actually going to be different than all the other 8 000 boring ass videos i just saw on
the timeline right like and it's specific so it allows me to like you more and cheer for you and
want you to do well and be like look at prez these videos are dope because of this right and allows
me to like get more people to be like look at what you're doing because it's different because otherwise people like why should i watch and they need a reason
yeah 100 i think it's really i like um we've also got alex in the space got ophid with his hand up
we've got a few more people i want to get to as well but yeah it's it's definitely something that
we we need new content we need better content we need more games to live
and uh to get that content um i'm just thinking of all of the all of the content creators or kols i
know playing expedition 33 like absolutely hammering that shit um and they were completely
not coming in for web 3 games so yeah it'd be really interesting to hear, like, which Web2 content creators you guys see as, like, really good.
Like, which ones you're going to look up to, which ones you think are really interesting.
And, yeah, that would be nice.
I really like Adam.
Whenever I see a post from Adam, I smile because he has such a unique take.
This is not his full-time job like I do, like Doug,
but he has such a unique take that I always laugh
when he's doing his stuff in a good way.
And of course, the other person that I always look up to is Icy.
I feel like he's always bringing such a positive energy to space,
which I try to follow, and I try to follow and I try to
do my part too.
And of course,
Dog Hype is always doing crazy
shit that I love too.
love what he does because
sometimes you don't even
understand what he's doing.
But he's putting his step on the ground,
and everyone is watching his content
because you never know what to expect.
And that's what he was just saying a few minutes ago about my content.
I think that he is the one who always does something
that no one knows what to expect.
And that's what I love about his content, always raising the bar.
You know, it's funny.
When I make content,
I'll be doing a video or making a script,
and in the middle of doing it,
I'll just change half of it and be like,
you know what, I'm just going to do it this way.
Because I feel like everyone needs to make content
that just feels real and organic.
Like, Prez, when you do something in your native language,
I feel like you have this aura around you of wanting to connect and upraise that community.
I feel there's a vibe there and something about you that's special and beautiful.
But, like, if someone's just making a random video about a game, I don't get that vibe.
Like, it just feels like a sales pitch, right?
I need a reason to feel you and what's going on.
And we just, you talked about Adom and his posts.
Like, I want to like you and what's going on in a we just you talked about adom and his posts like i want to like you like let me know something about you and like really try
to like show yourself
you don't like me doug that hurts
hey we got we gotta get we gotta get some people up in there we got um ovid gaspode you guys got
your hands up um can you can you say something in my native language to make me feel that you really mean
it? Preferably with sarcasm
because then I...
I have to say Ophid is such a gentleman
because regardless, he's one of the hosts
and part of the team, he raises his hand
and waits his turn.
Me mommy raised me
well, so she did. Such a boomer.
She raised a good...
Ah, thanks, man.
She's like such a... raised a proper
little Irish boy. Speaking
of Irish boys, Web 2 creators
Jacksepticeye. I
remember years ago watching that when
kids were growing up and just thinking
he's the funniest fucker I've ever seen on the internet.
He was absolutely
brilliant and real
and just didn't give a shit but was very good at it.
I'd be controversial from a Web3 side as much as the prick annoys me and he's a bit of a twat.
Anytime Jonah appears in my timeline, I actually enjoy it because you know why?
why i love the drama and also what what's infuriating about it is that half of the time
I love the drama.
you'll think he's he's talking absolute shite and rubbish and gibberish and the other half he
actually makes a lot of sense in some of the stuff he talks about so it's like it's like a love-hate
relationship with the guy you know and uh yeah i think that's the first time i've heard a grumpy old irishman giving flowers for jonah
who who literally said if i told people that i actually had a cute girlfriend um i'd lose my
power as an angry raging virgin nerd um where i have a lot of respect for the guy he's great
i do think some people actually have the reverse where their personality in real life is super nice
um well no that's not the reverse it's the exact same thing with jon their personality in real life is super nice um well no that's not
the reverse it's the exact same thing with jonah personality in um in person is really really nice
and then act like a complete twat on the timeline gaspode are you putting it on or are you the same
gaspode in everyone i'm as disappointed with everyone in real life as i am on the timeline
with everyone in real life as i am on the timeline so definitely the level of optimism and negativity
carries through into real life um i was going to say beautiful for for the web too and it does
definitely tie into what doug talks about that we were doing some research around uh loot boxes
and i started watching this channel called Juicy Slots where
he just plays casino there's no face it's just him yapping for 30 minutes over playing slots
and I started that maybe three months ago and ever since I've watched at least 30 minutes to
about an hour and a half a day of him just talking over the top of the slots and that's what Doug's touching on of
wanting to know more about the person like because he's not even talking about slots he talks about
some stuff he's done for the day stuff like that and to be able to keep your attention while doing
it I think it's really impressive because his videos are like 35 to 45 minutes long and the
retention rate is really impressive so i think is that live streaming or
is that like he actually prepares these videos does he record this or so he literally records
just plain slots i mean like it is edited so he throws memes up over the top of it as well
but it's done very very well um that's impressive yeah so who who else here thinks that you know juicy sluts would also
get a very good retention rate for a stream i mean i've got to admit i've got to admit i do
watch that pokemon guy the should i open it or should i keep it sealed like i just that is like
my daughter loves that crack and he has thumb that looks like diglett which is just hilarious
and he has thumb that looks like diglett which is just fucking hilarious every time pikachu comes
up so yeah um and i also like beauty pie's current arc where he's just a slightly grumbly nordic dad
trying to make things because he hates all technology so he's like making like 3d printing
shit breaking it moaning about it and living in living in Japan in a really weird middle class world where he's completely unrelated to games.
It's like the guy is making tech stuff to try and avoid.
He's become like some sort of propeller head Linux guy.
And I'm like, this is actually the funnier thing.
I can refer this to him watching his gaming stuff.
But yeah, we haven't heard from Alex much.
Alex, do we have you?
Yeah, Alex
Alex got mad at me because he thought I was calling him out
But I didn't do a very good job
Alex, I'm calling you out
I didn't actually think you were
I was just, you know
Yeah, we're doing drama now
Well, that's how you get engagement
On here, right?
We got 225 actual viewers On the arena right now waiting for drama.
All right, so popcorn time.
Popcorn time.
What's your favorite influence of drama that you've seen recently?
Or anyone got any dirt to dish before we reset the ring?
My favorite was when Jonah called out Blub
and then basically just trashed the whole Avalanche.
Like, Degen Network went after him, and then basically just like trashed the whole Avalanche like DJ
network went after him and then he just like left like Avalanche sort of because the thing is like
he was telling the truth of what was going on he showed the screenshots and he kind of made the
Blub team not look that great but also made himself not look that great but he didn't give
a shit you know what I mean like that a level of mutual destruction yeah like I I love that level
of transparency where it's like you you know every time you point a finger of mutual destruction yeah like i i love that level of transparency where
it's like you you know every time you point a finger at someone there's like three fingers
pointing back at you so like if you can have a level of humility and transparency of just like
hey this is you know i'm i i fucked up too like then that lets people like build some trust with
you or they feel like you're not just basically lying to them trying to make yourself look good
it's like fun to call people out or do whatever, but you should also be doing the same thing to yourself.
You should also like, you know, a lot of these guys like you show Ninja and stuff.
A lot of them are just straight up assholes and stuff, I guess, whatever.
But, you know, and they whatever pretend to be nice to people.
But if you can really figure out a way to like be a little bit, have a little bit of charm charm have a little bit of humility and just be a little bit um honest with then people will really start to like want
to hang out with you and feel comfortable with you i mean you say that you say that but i if i
had a coin um that every time an influencer or call was just arrogant as fuck on stream saying
like i gave you this at like 30 million market cap and now like this the amount
of people who's literally if you were to say that in normal human conversation when no one knew you
you would get a slap in most pubs in the uk um i do think there's quite a lot of big headedness
on on the time do you think it's character or do you think it's actually oh what makes you
a call that you actually have to you know i think a little bit i think it's character or do you think it's actually what makes you a call that you actually have to be a little bit off yourself?
I think it's because most of the, you know, it's funny because Tom Segura called these children apps like Instagram.
The other day he called him.
He's like, you guys just are hanging out in children's apps.
He wasn't trying to fuck anyone, but he's just making a joke.
And I'm like, they are Instagram, whatever, Snapchat, TikTok.
It's like in like, look at Mr. Beast.
You guys have to understand Mr. Beast you guys have to understand
Mr. Beast following started because of 10 year olds like every 10 year old on the planet was
watching Mr. Beast it wasn't 30 year olds and 40 year olds it was 10 year olds watching him
like middle schoolers high schoolers were watching Mr. Beast little kids and that's why he's such a
squeaky clean like like uh brand because he knew that now the whole world watches Mr. Beast or knows who he
is but it literally started with kids if you look at TikTok it's mostly dances stuff that like a
10-year-old kid could be into right that's literally what social media is so when you go
on the timeline right now and see all this copy pasta and people just picking at each other you're
like tweaking somebody's lizard brain that basically operates on like, you know, a nine-year-old's like level, right?
And it's really immature and silly and very like boring to me, but it does kind of work.
But like the people that can go beyond that and also appeal to more mature audiences while
understanding the kind of just like fun, basic stuff, that's when you really actually are
a content creator, right?
That's when you're actually are a content creator right that's
when you're actually a kol where you can connect to people and build relationships and do real adult
stuff but like i'm telling you 99 of the people in that timeline just talking trash and being
immature what else can they do other than that they have no fucking skills whatsoever they can
get lucky and get people money look dude if you if you may say the right thing like one, you say the right thing one time and you get people money, they are going to fucking follow
you anywhere. Like just look at some of the KOLs that people have been hanging onto who probably
haven't made a good call in the last God knows how long. Is it like always in prison again?
Is he just being staked somewhere? Like what's happening? Like they're all of those kinds of
crazy KOLs that were massive and
ended up fighting in karate combat really badly like that would be reputation destroying but you
know some people make money so they keep coming back and i i'm gonna wonder it's like if these
people didn't make some people money by being lucky and having a little bit of money to throw
around in the first place and only showing their wins would anyone like them at all what do you think i'm sorry go ahead no i was just gonna say
in general someone shout in down in well like i'm very closely tied to all this stuff especially
bit boy i know all of his friends i've hung out with bit boy a ton but i'm like not his friend like i never liked what he did at all but like if you look at his
company like aj writes crypto j chains adam charles like all and like you know whatever all the people
that used to be his friends or i don't know some still are maybe but i'm friends with all of them
i've hung out with them for years at karateate Combat, also all that stuff. And I was always really nice and supportive of everybody in person and just like, hey,
you know, I'm here just to support everybody, whatever. Even if I think you're a total dick
on the timeline, like kind of bit boy or whatever in real life, he was never a dick to me. So I was
just kind of like, all right, you know, I'll just be cool with you. But I never supported what he
fucking did. I would tell him like, like you know i'm not into i'm not
into that shit or whatever right but like the whole world back then there was not many people
doing that stuff so if you stood out as like um uh a figure on youtube or twitter like there was
no competition so you he like built up that thing really quickly because his one skill he has is
just like he just has immense like uh power
hung he's just power hungry right is what his thing is so he has an on-screen power hungry
he's a good entertainer i mean we could say that much at least yeah but that comes out of his
power hungriness like if you look at him all the crazy he did riding his car it's like oj simpson
level shit right so you know like i know because i'm around it all
the time i see him i'm hanging out with these guys all the time dude like and i told everybody
like when he started going crazy like hey just stay away from him like you can't help him if you
go and support him he's just gonna feel that's like reinforcement for all the crazy shit
you're just enabling him like that because that's what power-hungry narcissists do.
I feel like we should get
the jackass guys into crypto.
This is what it seems like.
We should get some of those
early 2000s proper jackass,
all of those people.
Let's get Bamagara, a token,
and just bring him in
and do crazy shit.
I mean, we've had the la fate kebal right this was
dude i invited the jackass team to karate combat but i didn't offer him enough money i guess
i mean it should have been funny anyway i mean it would be hilarious um to actually see whoever's
left of them at this point i was willing to pay him out of my own pocket to show up and i was
gonna support steve-o's animal. He has like an animal sanctuary.
And I was like, oh, Dana, don't owe us money to you.
Just out of my own pocket.
But, you know, whatever.
I mean, he's busy.
Yeah, no, it's all good.
At least he hasn't turned into that tiger guy.
I can't remember.
Yeah, who was that?
The Tiger King?
He was just on Ashley D. Can and Blonde Broker's podcast like a month ago.
Fuck, yeah.
Like the Tiger King. I mean, dude, there are some seriously fucking crazy people in this space. decan and blonde brokers podcast like a month ago talk yeah like the tiger king i mean dude there
are some seriously fucking crazy people in this space for good or ill and i mean it's definitely
something that money is a powerful drug guys it's really fucking yeah exactly it's it's the thing and
since we've reached halfway through the space it is on me to do the like and subscribe share
follow every one of these wonderful fucking people up here. They are giving their time to you, to everyone.
And we are basically going to the halfway point of this space.
So if you are not commenting, liking,
I'll read out the comments.
I'm not that crazy.
I'm not going to count to 10,000 or something like that.
I think the best take of the night is to find out
that actually Mr. Beast is actually Blippi for slightly older children.
It just broke my mind.
He's basically Blippi.
That's what it is.
Imagine if Blippi had a fucking token.
What would that sound?
You'd have kids there shaking down their parents trying to shiv them with the tiniest knife available.
I'm surprised that he hasn't done it.
The only reason he hasn't is because, you know, they create a program they try to do with like twitch and stuff the league and then they
they found out that there was some blockchain involved like on the back end tech and then
every person was like fuck that i'm never showing up and the mr beast was part of that
and he saw firsthand that like web3 is like toxic to that community i mean but then again if he if
he saw that the token was in talking about influences and talking about like, I'd say influences rather than KOLs.
I think if you look at a KOL, a KOL is that someone that people respect and that they believe.
I personally think the difference between the KOL and an influencer is that an influencer has that mass appeal.
an influencer is that an influencer has that mass appeal.
So I'd say that Trump is the number one influencer,
but not necessarily a key opinion leader because a lot of people fucking
disagree with him.
They just go along with him.
That's influence.
That's power.
So I think in our space, we do have more KOLs than influencers.
It's very rare to find someone who says something everyone's like,
yeah, let's do that.
But yeah, Trump is...
I'm going to disagree with that.
I think there's more...
I think a lot of KOLs,
if people didn't know the kind of swarming
and kind of sheep behavior of Web3,
I don't think they would be...
anyone would really care with a lot of KOLs, honestly.
Would they really listen if they didn't know that
other people would action what they say?
And I'm not speaking about all of them, but certainly
I'd say many of them,
they don't really have a lot to say, but
if they say it and people know
herd is going for it,
then they'll follow.
That's the embarrassing bit
when they go to in real life events
and they're showing off their Twitter profile in the event
to show how many followers they've got.
That's exactly what you're talking about.
That is really embarrassing as well.
I had someone do that to me and I was really surprised
because I don't know whether he was trying to add me on X
or something, but he was like, he was a dev
and he was like, I'm actually pretty known something but he was like he was a dev and he
was like i'm actually pretty known around here and he got out his twitter following and he had
like 2k followers and i was like nothing against the guy but i was just really surprised that
that was important to him you know what i mean to be fair that's not bad for a dev
yeah he was he was also 12 as well um i can't tell like which ones are gen alpha and
which ones are gen z anymore i just generally look at the shoes gen z stop at crocs gen alpha
they just seem to be wearing balenciaga and batiks and uh making more money off ai powered um token
farms than i will ever see in a lifetime um which i think is quite funny in in of itself
yeah we should we should make a British cabal.
It could be called the London Tea Cabal
instead of the LA Bay Cabal.
And then we could just be really bitchy about shit.
But yeah, as we're moving on,
I think it's time that we basically just say what,
try to have some more silliness
as well as some more sustainability.
Do you think that coals are going to eat good again? Do you think it's going to be the time for the influencers? Do you think
there is going to be a second coming of, you know, can you still smoke weed and be successful?
Is it, or is this it? Is this it? Because I remember people blagging on timeline about,
I turned down $250,000. Let's just for the sake of argument,
say what would be your thing that you would turn down
or the thing that you missed out on?
Go for it.
Anyone jump in.
Any of the topics, say words.
I think it will come back,
but I don't think it will come back as strong.
I think the ability to reach everyone with a program like as much as people didn't like Loud, the ability to reach people without needing to engage directly with the KOLs will reduce their influence over time, especially as the Twitter algorithm has also switched to less of a follower based and more of an interest based kind of of algorithm which rewards content people are actually
interested in regardless of whether the person has a thousand followers or ten thousand followers
so i think it's not really weird it's not it's not good content but it's not the same now that
just because you've got a big account you're going to get always get big interactions uh your content still needs to be engaging
engaging isn't always good you bring up a really interesting point there about like
this whole laudio and kaito thing essentially kind of taking away the power from kors because
i saw it from the outside as just being something to literally reinforce the power balance of kols
in space if you're a big kol you get. If you're a big KOL, you get more points.
You basically just have to breathe and you get points.
I mean, and then when you see the people
who are actually actively farming it,
you read their content and it is horribly boring.
I'm like, they're talking about this
is going to bring high quality content.
I literally cannot stand when I see
one of those AI generated slot pieces um just up on
the space does it feel like politics to you or people are just trying to sound smart yes it feels
exactly like that there's exactly like politics where it's all being determined by a very left
wing university council and everyone's allowed to have a certain say but they can only use the
most boring words that's that's what it feels like designed by committee bullshit like i don't know i
just feel like these kaito things and the rest they're literally reinforcing the same shit we
see on the timeline i think discoverability it feels weird it feels a bit of low um i think
we're we're locked into bubbles,
and that's why I like my favorite K-Oils,
because I see them, and I see them as people.
And I don't care what you're tweeting.
I want to know you as a person.
The stuff I like to see on my timeline is the stuff that my friends and people I know are posting,
because I can hear them saying it.
I know that it makes sense, them saying it.
The thing is, I don't like to see in my timeline
is when my friends kind of drop their own personality
to jump on someone else's.
And it's kind of like, dude, this isn't you.
I know you don't believe in this.
Why are you doing that?
It's like when you see someone hardcore
shilling something really crap.
You see someone who's absolutely hardcore,
like inhuman, shilling something that is just so bad and you're like what have you done despite shitting on
everything else you know yeah i know because his name gets brought up a lot when people say like
oh he's real or he keeps it real like people tell me that all the time and i'm like not always i'm
like but he but he is good at pushing that brand
out it shows you how branding is very powerful when you have like an overarching powerful message
or whatever but i think what you're talking about there is the reason that a lot of the private
chats and telegram chats like the wolves like uh friends chat has raised up an activity because
people get pushed away from the timeline and more towards things that
they try to find value out of. So people are pivoting a little bit in their time and attention
and finding things that are a little bit better. The question is, how do we then, you know,
how do we utilize this in multiple ways, not just private chats, but social media and stuff too,
because obviously having a private chat is cool, but you still want to be able to talk to and interact with people on the general timeline
and um we still kind of i think have to figure that out a little bit there's another there's
a next step we have to take you know what it feels like it feels like that point in facebook
when your parents go on facebook and then everyone was like fuck why did i invite my parents to
facebook like i don't know
why we were all so fucking retarded that we did that we're like let's invite the aunties let's
invite the mums let's invite everyone to Facebook and then they were all on Facebook and we're like
we can't use Facebook anymore what do we do so we go to Instagram and I feel like it's getting a
little bit like that yeah but but but Matt you have to realize now that that we're we we are
getting to the point that that's the only way we're going to find out where, who's died.
Yeah, imagine that.
It's just posted on X, just a meme.
What actually is Facebook now?
Is there actually a website now where you can connect with friends
and see how their life's getting on without having to be flooded
with loads of crap?
No, it's the same as it was. getting on without having to be flooded with loads of crap. Because Facebook's that now, right?
It's the boomer and
millennial paradise right now.
you don't find kids on that thing.
Facebook is great for its
marketplace. Well, I fit in
that category because sometimes I look
over there.
It's a bunch of, like, get off my lawn on
Facebook. It's like the same kind of stuff like a toxic 10 year old would post
but it's like a 50-60 year old guy that's like
can you believe what this terrible person did?
you know, whatever, it's political or community stuff
and I'm like, oh my god, literally facebook's worse than x
it's more toxic than fucking twitter is
but it's mostly toxic towards x and elon mask right
that's what I find when I go to facebook it's just everyone slagging off elon mask right that's what i find when i
go to facebook it's just everyone's liking off elon mask even though they've never used his
platform yeah except it's not good off it's not get off my lawn anymore it's get off my stream
yeah no i think it's like we definitely need it's it's crazy like we see you see all the kids on
tiktok and my god that is terrible like i've
noticed that when you're on tiktok some of the videos they actually have a weird dividing line
between them as if they were going to split screen it i don't know why they do that but
it's for copyright it's for copyright they use video that's already been copywritten or owned
somewhere else so they have to get around AI that locates it.
It's a remix.
It's actually genius,
because then you just keep on connecting with people.
The other way that they get around it
is by having every couple of seconds,
I think it's like three, four seconds,
a fading effect that goes over the whole video.
And it will just cancel out whatever AI is trying to pick out, you know, copyright
infringement.
Man, that's horrible because if there's one thing that would really tell you about yourself
more than anything else, it's like if you start a new TikTok and then just look at the
algorithm, it will tell you like within very short time, it will tell you what your deepest
sort of like perversions are within minutes.
And then after a while, you just do something like make the mistake of watch a video on
planets once and that's all you'll get um again then you get trapped you can't escape
it because you watched one video on Minecraft like everything is now Minecraft you know
I'm saying nothing yeah no I think it's really hard to see like with the X algorithm I mean
for us in the space I know that when you start a new X account, you can't
actually, or you couldn't for a while select crypto or NFTs, um, as a subject.
Like you couldn't put that as a subject of interest.
I mean, they took away the, the polygon.
Um, they took away, you know, that, that's the NFT.
NFT integration, all of that shit.
I think if that had stayed, um, we'd be in a different world right now and, you know that's the nft integration yeah nft integration all of that shit i think if that had stayed um we'd be in a different world right now and you know we'd all be living in palaces
and happy happy that nft meant something telling young people to get off our lawns yeah maybe we
should make a new x with with um hexagon pfps um and we won't call it Web3, we'll just call it X,
but with hexagon PFPs,
and everyone will go there.
Can you do that on Arena then?
Can you use your NFT as a PFP on Arena?
I think you can use whatever you want
for your PFP on Arena,
but let me double check.
You can't connect a wallet with a PFP,
at least to my knowledge.
Well, they have badges
for certain
like nfts that you own and stuff on the arena that just go next to your name but for your pfp i believe
you can just yeah upload any image you want i don't think there's an nft connection there classic
right click save there we are it's my jpeg now oh man hey i still i still think that that's the
funniest thing that we actually, we live in a world
where many of us are making our living
off other people's residual buying of JPEGs
that then turned into, we can make a game,
that then turned into billions of dollars
flowing into people who are trying to make these games.
I had no idea about it.
And now we have a whole industry of people
talking about the people who have no idea about making games, for people who luckily bought and sold monkeys at the right time
it's it's great imagine explaining this and uh to yourself as a kindergartner
imagine this like none of our jobs existed um when we're in kindergarten isn't that crazy
i miss running actie Infinity scholarship farms.
Those are the good old days.
I mean, I've met so many people who are like VCs
and they're sitting there and they're like,
yeah, I just played Axie Infinity.
I've met so many people who've been like,
I was really doing really well and then Axie Infinity broke me.
And then other people are like,
yes, and I bought my third Alice yesterday because because i bought three axes at this particular time like our space is
absolutely crazy this is why it's so good um but yeah we we need we need our own way of communicating
with how do we reach these kids doug how do we reach the kids um well you gotta you gotta think
like the like with your lizard brain simple stuff you got to connect to people on multiple levels right like the 10 year olds to 20 year olds want basic like
tiktok dancing and stuff but in reality i make fun of it all but it's about vibes they they just
want to have people that they enjoy that they like like being around and it doesn't you know
you could be any age i mean look at look at um um the gaming grandpa lady that like switched over
from being like skyrim grandma to being Oblivion grandma now.
And there's literally news reports about it.
It's in the fucking news that she switched over.
I mean, it's a beautiful thing.
And literally I watched her stream and she walks around all slow like a grandma.
Oh, let's take some nice pictures over here.
You know, it's literally like what you would expect and it's like fucking killing she's she's literally
just she's not playing it like hardcore she's playing it like a grandma in game as well
yeah i mean i don't know she might be good at the game and stuff but just from what i watched
she was just taking lots of pictures of stuff like like you're on vacation that's the thing is like it's adorable
and fun and and even though it's kind of niche and maybe 10 years ago that wouldn't have worked
but now people are looking for stuff that they can connect to a little bit more because the
timelines become so much more toxic and weird and crazy they want something that feels good
and unique and there's also the grandpa guy that does like he's a great it's like headshots and
he's a former navy guy or whatever and he's a former Navy guy or whatever. And he's like, you know, actually really good. I don't know if the grandma girl is, but there is a spot for everything. If you put the work in and you really care about it, people do connect to the authenticity and that you actually are who you are and love what you do. But you really have to put work into it. You really have to be dedicated and do it and have a vibe about you. And then people want to be part of it because it just feels cool. It feels good to them. And it's hard to say
exactly what that thing is. It's a little bit different for everybody, but it all comes down
to the basic traits of connecting to people, relationship building, and just being a good
person. I think that's fantastic. And I love the fact that nowadays you can literally make a living
as an influencer for anything or a kol of anything
like if you look at some of the things there's literally people who are kols with having
political arguments there's like famous people who just bring people on on their like talk show
um and they just argue with them there's a whole kols of flat earth and kols of round earth which
are just kols of being slightly sensible people.
And they have battles and people watch this
and people are addicted to this.
They're addicted to watching how stupid someone can be.
And then it's insanity.
It's absolutely crazy.
Like I think human subculture is fractal.
And I think if you had to join a random other culture
and be an NFT for something else deliciously niche, what would you pick?
I'm going to just go around the room.
Mr. Consul, if you had to be an NFT of something very random, what would you pick?
Like you were the influencer of.
Right, right, right.
Yeah, I've been listening.
I've been listening.
I'm here dabbling with AI.
AI is just blowing my heart away. And I've been listening. I'm here dabbling with AI. AI is just blowing my heart away. And
I've been taking notes. So let me just give a whole rundown on my thoughts on the discussions
that's been had.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. A whole rundown?
I'll be really fast.
Yeah, you better be.
Okay. Number one, my favorite content creators in this space is Mizzy. I like Leon from Unfungible.
Some other dudes called Alo.
Those guys are OGs.
I think when it comes to KOLs, beyond what you say, it's how you say it.
It's about the delivery.
People really follow the personality to the core of things.
Even if you're being somewhat led into a slaughterhouse if it's by someone you like you're
all just gonna be jumpy and enthusiastic about that concerning whether kols are still gonna eat
yeah i think the size of the dish might significantly reduce because studios used to
work with kols in our space because they were targeting Web3 gamers, but have turned their attention away from Facebook
and it still has the highest monthly daily active users.
More so in certain markets.
For example, if you're running a campaign targeting Filipinos,
you just have to be on Facebook.
Coming to your final question, if I had to get a image or PFP or icon, it would definitely be a goat.
I just, I don't know why.
I love goats.
They're very, very funny creatures.
Yeah, goats are very funny.
I mean, another question, if you had to be an influencer of a brand new hobby or an existing one,
what would you be the influencer of?
You can pick anything, with in cooking sewing arguing with
people online what would what would be your take actually fun fact i have a travel page
it's actually significantly doing better than my mr console content so for me it's just traveling
discovering new places giving that raw reaction and just sharing who I am because I'm very outdoorsy in comparison to the indoors personality, persona type that I have to interact with a lot in this space, especially as a community manager. manager so for me it's it's just traveling man if i could get paid for that which i'm hoping
my channel can grow into oh man adios you need to you need to actually like um put a spin on it so
instead of traveling to awesome places you need to travel to like the most boring places on earth
like just pick a random town in belgium and be like hey i've gone all the way to this
random town in belgium but yeah i'm gonna go around the room breads if you had to be the
influencer of something completely random um a niche what would be your niche influencing
are you muted breads
i'm pretty happy where I am right now.
I feel like I just want to grow more.
And I will say being a content creator in the gaming space
is like a dream come true to me.
I'm still a small creator,
but I feel like we are working hard to reach the goals that we want that
is not uh only about numbers it's about having a uh i would say a wealthy life no worries life and
no no worrying about the money just worrying about creating content and uh adding adding also
knowledge and expertise and helping other creators to accomplish their goals because
i feel like that's something that is really really hard i know i know it because i've been living
a few years through that and uh helping others while at the same time i'm living my dream
playing video games or creating content around video games because because to be honest the less
the the least thing that i do is playing video games i i'm more into the research thing
creating videos and doing all that uh is what takes most of my time and but to be to be able to share the excitement or the fun parts of a video game with our community or with whoever comes to my videos, that's something that I really enjoy.
Yeah, that's fantastic.
Doug just dissed you, man.
He just left.
Doug was like, man, Fred's.
He's not saying anything funny.
He's not the influencer of something.
I'm just getting snatched.
I was like, are you going to be like the influencer of macaroni or something?
I thought he was good.
Preds, you were just too honest and nice and good.
Aero, if you had to be the influencer of something completely fucking random,
what would you be the influencer of?
Honestly, I have no ambitions to be an influencer of any kind.
Just go with it.
If I had to be, I think I'd start up the UK vape cabal and just make loads of money
by front-running everyone. That would be fine. Although I'd rather do it in a way which is
not incriminating myself or abusing my community. But I wouldn't mind just getting rich by being
concriminating myself or abusing my community.
But I wouldn't mind just getting rich by being a pain in the ass on the timeline.
That would be okay if I had to be an influencer.
No, you would go for just being a pain in the ass on the timeline.
Gaspode, if you had to be the influencer of something random and niche,
what would you pick?
Just being negative about stuff, I think.
Just trying new things.
I would join Gaspode. um just being negative about stuff i think if it was okay to be negative all the time i would
quite happily join you gaspard you know guys on that topic there is a specific niche of influencer
that are focused on fadding all the time that's what they do that that's how they are popular
my friend loki is one of them and he's built his whole brand around that.
Yeah, it's true.
Fudding hard.
And also just like,
it doesn't matter if you're wrong when you're fudding,
because if you're right,
you're right about the fudding.
And if you're wrong,
everyone makes money.
So in a way,
fudding is just so good and so easy.
When I talk to people in Google Meets
and just general meetings and stuff,
and I just talk
like normally completely unbridled, they're like, oh man, you should create content like this.
But I can't just rant all day, every day. I want to be a positive force in this space.
We should just rant about stuff. We could do it.
We could do it.
We could do it. Back in the day, we used to rant.
We could do it.
Back in the day, we used to rant.
I think we could have, like, we should do, like, a 24-hour marathon,
just of ranting where various people come in, rant and leave.
And then after we've got it out of our system,
we can just be normal for a month.
If you had to be the random influencer of something,
what would you be the random influencer of?
What's your niche hobby or, a thing i'm severely into gaming
and making fun of gaming and to me the best experience is when you're gaming with somebody
and you're sharing that i tried that uh with chow the other day and we were like having fun
doing a stream uh about a random game that he's working with and the way that i interacted with the you
know different section of the game and commenting what was i felt good or bad about it it was kind
of funny because it was like an organic reaction instead of being something that you just chilling
something i prefer to be real whenever i'm doing something. If I don't feel it and if I am enjoying it,
I will definitely rant about it or make fun about it,
the mechanics of the games.
I think the people want to know the real part of gaming.
You know, they don't want to see all these things.
So, yeah, I think it's in between what Eero was saying.
It's sort of like a rant, but at the same time, I would definitely be focused on the gaming space.
It's always been a passion.
I mean, I grew up with gaming since the Nintendo days, since the Commodore 64 days.
We're going back in time, if you guys remember those.
That is true, man.
It's like, I feel retarded now because i was going to say something kind of funny
i was like i'd like to do um reaction videos to to people making chocolate or something like that
because you see people i literally see people reacting to songs from when i was like 18 and
they're like listening to prodigy and they're like, it's like, oh my God, this just makes me feel so bad.
Can I just be reacting to people doing like walking across the street,
reacting to like reacting to people making chocolate videos?
I'm just sitting there.
And you know, what's the worst, Matt?
Reacting to people, they are reacting to people,
they are reacting to people.
It's like inception, man.
Inception reactions.
We should just do this and then just start reacting to people it's like inception man inception reactions we should we should just
do this and then just start reacting to spaces that other people are having so get on one of
those really terrible like dodginal spaces and just react like it's the craziest thing ever
um it would be dope it would be dope doug if you could be the random influencer of anything niche
what would you be the random influencer of um maybe for like actors like theater actors or something like you know we talk about what is
an influencer and all this stuff really is people that can be creative and fun and communicate well
and like in my spare time i like i'm watching like funny videos or funny comedians or or al
patino talk about his life or whatever right like i I worked a lot in the theater and in the film business my whole career,
and there's just so much more to life and to experience and think about
than just, like, you know, sitting on this social media timeline and stuff,
listening to a bunch of jack-offs, like, say something stupid, right?
Like, go experience stuff.
Way to just trash everyone on the way out doug just like go touch yeah well i
mean dude like if you have any ability to be really creative and entertaining i will fucking
love it like okay here's an example gamified started with sam stefanina kind of just sort
of figuring out what to do and then he started he started doing funny shows
and different things
now the show has become such a vibe
and it's really funny and a good entertaining show
because he nurtured
that element of communication and connection
right and it's
really good the way he does it and I
enjoy it I'll literally listen to the show
just because it's partly
because it's our friends and stuff too
but because it can actually be enjoyable to listen to the show just because it's partly because it's our friends and stuff too but because it can be constantly it can actually be enjoyable to listen to and i just appreciate
the hard work that goes into that it's not easy to do you really have to care so that we need more
of that shit exactly i agree it's one of the very very few spaces um simplified and gamified
very very few spaces that i would actually just actively listen to.
The other one I like is Luke's space as well.
I do like...
Luke is stuck.
Hey, are you wearing your armor suit right now, Luke?
Luke's welded into that armor, man.
Jesus Christ.
You are a spicy, spicy dud today.
This is how I am all the time
You just haven't talked to me in a few minutes
Dude you were like super calm and chill
And saying how you were like the sweetness and light
And now you just want everyone to be friends
In real life yeah yeah yeah
But that's because
If I just walk up to you in person
And start being spicy you'll be confused as fuck
You know what I mean
I mean but you do have that spicy vibe anyway spicy vibes and
fun things around um it's been a fantastic space it has been another episode of no cap gaming
episode 11 next week we will be coming out with a different and fantastic stack panel we will all
be the influencers of some bizarre niche and we'll share our results
as I try to become a chocolate reaction influencer
and we'll see, we'll get updates
on Mr. Console's travel channel
and yeah, and then Doug's career in theater.
I want to see Doug's interpretive dance,
but that is all we have time for.
We few, we gentle few. We band of gaming brothers.
action court speech.
Send that.
Take it easy, everyone.
It's been absolutely fantastic.
Cheers from me.
Cheers, everyone.
Cheers, everyone. Oh, you know, once you blame that's the ultimate growth. It's all bad genes on T and A.
Asking conscience, why and how do it then do it when but now?
What's up?
What's up?
Sweet case. Hey, who's in hell?
Hey, anyway, here, anyway
Girls, they're all easy
What you gonna do, little buckaroo?
Hey, you're right, I said, I said
Hey, all you gotta do, happy food is asking my heart.
