Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. This is Kyle Langham from Definity, behind the Definity Awesome Infinity logo. I see we have some very punctual
I really appreciate that. So let's go ahead and get started. So Orlando, we got you, right? You're ready. Are you all hooked up? Yeah, can you hit me all right?
I hear you perfect. Good to have you on board. Ashling, are you able to -- you're ready to go, too? Yep, and I'm pronouncing your name right, finally. Thank you. And then we had Jesse as a speaker. Let's get Jesse back on up here.
I don't know where you went, but this isn't your first Twitter space, so I hope it's not user error. How are you guys doing? I haven't seen you guys in like three or four days. There you are. Hello from beautiful Los Angeles, which is definitely not sliding into the ocean as our planet heats up.
slowly and adaptively. Hey, you're a, you're, you're a forward thinker. You're going to have beachfront property in like 20 years. I appreciate you putting a couple extra years on that timeline for me here. Well, that's a, I think
That's a good segue into today's conversation. So I want to talk today about the Proof of Green initiative, which I absolutely love the idea behind. And really what it means for crypto, what it means for the Internet computer, and really what it means for
the environment. So let me just get started. Actually, let's first do some basic introductions and let everyone know who's on this call. So Orlando, you want to give us a quick 30 second. Who is Orlando? Yeah, I sure think Hi everyone. Thanks for joining.
been awesome just seeing all the sport that's come through for this pro-ronishative over the last couple weeks. I'm the co-founder of Carbon Crowd. I'm sort of more on the business side of it. I have my technical co-founder, Hamish, who does more of the science. Backgrounds, primarily in FinTech and Products.
I sort of turned this thing towards more energy in the last two years. I wanted to try and do something a bit more impactful with my skillset and that's what brought us to carbon crowd. And it's been an absolute pleasure working with the Finity over the last year to build out some of these cool piece of innovation that we're working on and that we're going to speak a bit more about today.
Tell us what is what is the north star of carbon crowd? Yeah, I'll go is to build zero mission technology, so we want to build
We want to build technology that runs without emitting any carbon dioxide at all. So that's not offsetting. That's actually just no carbon dioxide is produced in the first place. And yeah, that's basically what we're aiming to do.
That's awesome. I love the emphasis on not just offsetting, but rather just get to zero and that's zero. So, Ashlyn, give us a little bit of background on yourself and how you're involvement in this project. Sure. So, my
background is originally in cryptography and privacy, but generally I care about not harming people. So anytime a topic comes up where I can try to do stuff that reduces the harm on people, particularly of technology on people or technology on the world, I'm always happy to be
involved. And so Jesse who's also here, who I'm sure will hear from in a moment, was brave enough to be the first person to raise this topic, let's say, in the IC ecosystem by putting a post on the forum on Earth Day as it happens last year. So it's our one year anniversary.
this week. But anyway, this topic passed, I like to go into more of the details on that and take the glory there. But this topic passed and it got assigned to the fit of you to come up with some way to try and actually measure the energy consumption or
or make some sort of verifiable way to back up the claims that we were making. And at the same time, Orlando and Amos started working towards producing a carbon footprint. So we kind of worked together. Definitely did the stuff, the kind of technical stuff that needed to be done with the notes. And the guys did the more
technical stuff outside of the network and we kind of had a very nice knowledge sharing experience let's say over the last while and yeah the more I get into it the more I learn the more I see how big of problem this is the more I see like how much of a global problem it is I see
