Hi, everyone. So let's start. Probably Senna, if you want to just introduce the Twitter
space, and yeah.
Hi, thank you so much, Celine, for that. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening,
everyone. Thank you so much for joining the call. It's so beautiful to see the Hurdow
ladies from all over join us. So I'm just going to quickly go through the agenda for
today. We're going to introduce the new teams. I hope they are here. And then we're going
to give the platform to the subdials to discuss their past events, what they've been up to,
and what their plan is for this year. And then we shall unveil the global, the Hurdow
global roadmap. For those of you who don't know who I am, I'm part of the Hurdow global
team with Vanilla, Mikaela, and Solene. All right, so we're going to, let's just begin with
introducing the new teams. If you are here.
Yes. So to start, yes, my name is Solene, and I come from France, and I'm one of the
founder of Hurdow France since one year right now. And yeah, basically, I just become Hurdow
global governor. And I take part of this team to just pass through the next level with Hurdow.
And yeah, we are really excited about it.
Wow, Solene, you've just really just jumped into the whole fire. Welcome. And also just thank you
so much for being a star. Like, I don't know what the Hurdow global team would do without you.
Thank you, Mama. So who's next? And I'm just wondering if anyone from Hurdow, South Africa,
and Nigeria is in the house. Oh, I see Usunma. Maybe we can offer Usunma the space to speak as well.
I don't see anyone from South Africa, but that's okay. I could also introduce Hurdow, South Africa,
on their behalf. But yes, could we please offer Usunma the space?
Yeah, we were sending an invitation to Turkey. If you can just accept. Perfect.
Hey, Usunma. Welcome. Welcome. Please tell us how was your launch, I think two months ago or last month,
and we have any upcoming plans. All right. Hi, Super Super Hurdow women, Hurdow members and Hurdow supporters.
This is Usunma from Hurdow, South Africa, Nigeria. Yes, we had a VIT meetup in December. It was beautiful.
We had lots of pictures, lots of fun, great food, and also early sign-up membership or opportunity to submit projects
for the Katasi 5P grant. And yeah, everyone, Nigeria is excited for Hurdow, the address of Hurdow. Thank you.
Thank you. We're very excited for Hurdow, Nigeria. I met one of the women. I think she was actually part of Hurdow Global
when I first entered into the foray of Web3, thanks to Hurdow, of course. And she was thinking about starting Hurdow, Nigeria.
And this was in February of 2022. And here we are. So happy to have you ladies on board. Unfortunately, it looks like there's no one
that is present from Hurdow, South Africa. So I'll just briefly talk about Hurdow, South Africa. The governors are Nono from Pretoria and Katia, who I met when I was in Cape Town last year.
She's originally from Germany, but her heart lies in South Africa. They have not yet launched, but they will be launching very soon.
Hopefully in April or May with an event sponsored by Polkadot. And yeah, they have big, big plans. They do anticipate to not only focus on Web3, but also AI.
Nono is very big in AI and data science. So they'll be focusing on those areas. Hopefully next time we have a call, they can introduce themselves.
But that's okay.
Are there any other new DOWs to be introduced or to introduce themselves?
So are we missing any?
No, that's fine.
All right, so now we're going to move on to the sub DOWs to take the stage.
But before that,
yeah, before that, Tracy, the founder, is going to talk about the past two years and what's, you know, how it's transpired and how much, how far along we've come. So Tracy, please.
It's not available right now, but probably, you know, just if you want to talk a bit, I'm going to send you an invitation to talk just a bit about the last two years.
Perfect. I thought I saw Tracy just a second ago.
I can, I can give her with you if Tracy is not available right now.
Can you all hear me? Okay, perfect.
So, yeah, I, I'm Lena. I was a governor for the last two years with her DOW and so, yeah, it's been an incredible, exciting time. I think the numbers you can see on our page, like speak for themselves, we have,
we have, I think over 800, 500 scholars, right? We have,
just let me check. We have like a lot of,
we have like over 800 scholars. We had participated in more than 20 hackathons with our scholars. We won, like our scholars won over 300K in prizes. We hosted 11 hacker houses. We had
100 class hacker teams and more than 5,000 people attending our events. We hosted women in web 3. We started with hosting women in web 3 branches and having scholarships for people. We hosted our first
Hercon in Amsterdam two years ago in April. We have, we had our first hacker house. This is where we officially kicked off in Denver two years ago. So that was like our initiation, our public launch. After that we had so many fun hackathons where we learned so much.
I feel like also looking back at all the years, like our events became more and more technical. I think we can talk about their numbers, but actually looking at how our community evolved. It's what I find so rewarding and beautiful. I think all of these like special single stories of people that won prize money and with that prize money, they become, started becoming fun.
So they invested that money into their education and went to a celebrity bootcamp. But instead, like it ran from her down Germany, instead of like getting the money that she staked for the coding bootcamp back, she like donated it for like a scholarship for a woman that would want to take that course.
We have so many of our governors, now of our members placed in the biggest protocols. We have people in optimism and abitrum. We have in cello and noses. We have in the graph, we have in noun style. We have like, every time I go to in these global hackathon, I see people thought that we're heard.
But our scholars, like doing a workshop, I think it's incredible. And I think we all came so far. And I think our, our strategy of saying like, hey, we want to like, take you from being a hacker, the hackathon to like, becoming a founder, becoming an investor, becoming like a builder.
Like, I feel like you can, we now after two years, we can see that that this approach was actually successful to invest so much in these scholarships and education, and helping people level up and having study groups.
And, and now we can see that success and we can see that people take part in shaking, shaping that ecosystem. And I think that was the goal from the beginning on to like take a place at the table, be part of decision making.
And, and now we have so many like meet, also, I forgot to say mental media style, like we really like, like, our people are now everywhere. And we have this amazing network of women in all of these like chains and, and for me, it's just incredible to see how far so many people came like, and, and what kind of influence heard
out now has, and had in the past two years on the life of so many people, of people that also came to me and said, like, Helena, if, if, if head out and I like, kick my ass to take part in this hackathon, I would never have been as confident enough to apply for a job.
And then I got that job. And I think we believe that hackathons, hackathons empower people that they teach people that they are the best tool to educate you to find, like, to find a job to how to build a product, how to become a great developer and like a great builder.
Yeah, I'm just looking forward to seeing the new stewards, continuing the work that we've been doing and so amazing, like, like you probably many of you haven't had so much from us in the last month, but what you have to know is, like, for two years we were just like always doing
outside work and we really like missed on the internal work of really creating this decentralized structure where we also want to include our community to take part in decision making, but also really educate them about becoming like taking part in decentralized decision making.
And, and the new stewards, they have been working so insane and putting in all the effort in their time and we got so far and I'm, I can't wait to see how we also going to set up the events now with like more community involved and and
really open up the DAO for for everybody who wants to contribute and and yeah, it will be amazing. I can't wait to see what the people and the scholars from this year where they going to end up in the next two years and how we're going to grow and I think maybe it's already time for the roadmap, but I can't wait to hear them reveal what's up for
all of you in the next year because it will be very, very, very cool.
Thanks a lot.
Yes, I second, Lina, I really can't wait to hear what what you what the subdials have in store for the coming year so let's just jump right into it, and I don't know if.
Yes, we can start to, to offer.
It's sorry. Aya, Aya of Paris, or are you going to speak on it serving the roadmap for her dowel products.
Yes, hello. Do you hear me well. Yes. Yes. Okay. All right. Thank you so much for all being here. That's such a pleasure and always a pleasure to to be with her doubtful so I'm really happy for that.
So, yeah, there is a mama which is a new seaward on the herd our friends, and she's my sister so I'm really happy that she's here.
I'm also happy that the soul in is here as well but we are with Kelly for her dow friends and we're cooking some, some events so NFT Paris will be soon in like 10 days so we have prepared, we are preparing an event for that.
And we are a second target is not only to be present in Paris because we are in Paris based in Paris but in France in general so we are planning as well some events with the with women around France and speak about the community and how to build and how to keep building around
France which is one of our targets so yeah, there is as well. So that will be in July we haven't still prepared that but it's on the roadmap.
And, yeah, that's basically all the events that we will be attending of course they've gone but I will let so then maybe present all the, the, the, sorry, the plan for for that so thank you so much, and I'm happy.
And you will see that there is a lot of things that will be moving around.
Beautiful and I did you touch on Ren's redness. I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing it correctly.
Red, I don't know Ren's. I don't know. Ren. Ren. Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah sorry.
The French accent yeah yeah yeah the second the events will be in the end so it's on the west of France. And yeah we're gonna speak with the, we're still preparing that but it's a club of women that was in engineering school and they want to prepare an event to know like,
how we can get inspired and how to build been a woman in the ecosystem. So, it will be in 11 March, no, 18 March, just have been delayed. So if you are in French and if you are in the rain, you are more than welcome to be there.
Beautiful.
Welcome. Thank you.
Okay, next up is Herdao Korea, we have Jessica.
Hi guys, long time no say it's Jessica from Seoul, I mean like actually from Singapore, I just moved to Singapore about a week ago to find a new job at DeFi.
And yeah, it's been a like wonderful year, like 2023 with two ZK events, both in Seoul and Singapore with KBW and token 2049. Yeah.
Oh, beautiful. Are you done.
So, to revoke and to give you guys some retrospective about those like two couple of events, like, Herdao Korea, that Korea was not originally like plans for the KBW events, but like on the way to token 2049, and during the Herdao stewards like Asia trip.
And that KBW events was really like quickly planned and executed right. Tracy did an amazing job with raising funds and sponsorships. We partnered with hexes and the other like fellows.
Yeah, we invited some some amazing local developers and local female founders to the venue. And then they shared us their like business stories and they gave it gave them their pitch.
And then about like a couple of weeks later, we moved to Singapore for like token 2049 event. And that event was the main one. So, we partner with hexes as well. And then, and the other like partners as well.
Yeah, that event was really, really huge in a like decent place. And yeah, the sessions were like, they were mainly talking about the ZKs about like technology and like fundraising and startups, those kind of things.
Yeah, they were they were so resourceful. And I personally wrapped up my Herdao Korea job officially like last week. And then I just moved to Singapore. So like after I like finishing up the like document stuff and those kind of things.
By February, I will be like, like switching off to Singapore and things and focusing on Herdao Singapore and stuff. Thank you.
Wow, thank you. And I hope that we'll be seeing you later on in the year during our, well, it's about to be mentioned later. But thank you so much, Jessica.
Next is Missy of Herdao Kenya.
Take the stage.
You can start with with Carol, maybe from Herdao Spain, because I sent an invitation to Kenya, but
not yet accepted. Yeah. Okay.
Hi, everyone. And I'm really excited about the Herdao roadmap for this year.
My name is Carol, and I am a Herdao scholar, proud member and also a governor for Herdao Spain. Herdao chapter launch on June one past year.
Before we first started talking, I just want to apologize because my English is, it has to improve. And I'm so sorry if it's hard to understand what I'm saying.
I wanted to talk today a bit on how living the comfort zone is one of the best choice I made last year.
I speak in English, taking the risk of doing something new.
Those were things I didn't allow myself to do out of my fear. But I decided to change this, take some risk and there to do things that were scary.
I realized how limiting it was and also I realized that I could, if I wanted to do, I can do.
I wish I had learned this a long time ago, but it's never too late, right?
And I want to express that I am very grateful to Herdao because through its scholarships program, I have the opportunity to learn from other people, not only technical things,
but also about the human quality. I've been able to meet other women from other places in the world, all of them with the goal of learning, collaborating, sharing and improving their lives.
After almost two years of training in blockchain technology, I've decided to undertake and try to give back a little of what I've received from Herdao.
This is how the idea of 0x goes arose. This is a project I found for public goods that I am building.
The idea of this project is to make a real impact in the web tree ecosystem, boosting growing communities.
This project actively participates in staking protocols by running validators and operating notes to earn passive rewards and staking incentives.
These rewards go towards communities. To get yield, we have set components, delegated staking pools with 0% deposit fees and 7% unstaking fee that is dispersed among all of communities.
Our staking pool implementation yields zero token and other partner's tokens as incentives for staking with us.
On the top of that, staking pools have a boost in yield from yield strategies from protocols like beefy, yarn, and idle, which help to lift up the yield to pool members.
We started building this a couple of weeks ago. At the moment, we are operating a note in Garly for Card to See, which has already produced 66 blocks with only 7% usage in resources from Raspberry Pi Zero.
Our deposit and stake mechanism is functional in our frontend, and it's life already too.
I'm building 0xGo with my friend and highly experienced developer Denny. We both know how difficult and how important it is to find financial support when you're a fresh community.
He also helps Daos to create solutions for data and chain systems. We are preparing really cool things in order to build a strong project to enhance other communities.
That's all. Thanks for listening.
Well, I wish some congrats for this.
Yeah, that's amazing. Very inspiring. Thank you so, so much, Carl.
We will have a session where we can all ask questions in the end. So if anyone has questions for Carl and anyone else, yeah, we have that slotted.
Next, Hardal Kenya. Take the stage.
Hello, my name is Wanjiko. I'm from Hardal Kenya.
Yes, so I joined the Dao like last year. That's when I got to know about it.
And I was like, I really want to be a part of it because it really like goes with what my mission was at that time and still is today.
Yeah, so my, my friends are here, Kazea, Lavender with the Hardal logo and me. Those are my fellow stewards in Hardal Kenya.
So I can start with talking about what happened last year and what is going to happen this year.
So last year we had the Polkadot Safari where I actually got to know about Hardal and kind of like where my technical journey with Web3 started.
I used to just be in DeFi. I didn't know that we could build dApps.
So, and it's quite discouraging cause I, I, at that point in time, I was still in school doing my software development, actually just finished my software development course, but no one had ever told me about dApps building applications in Web3.
So being exposed to these technologies is where my journey started as coming into the Web3, like I just used to do trading, but not, but not the other technical bits.
And for me, that's where I realized that this is a new technology and it can be used to empower people.
So let's do it. Let's go. Someone helped me. And because they were there, I got to be there and I got to know about this.
And hopefully in the future it can empower me too. And that way I can also empower others.
So apart from the Polkadot Safari, we also attended the 8th Safari, which was around, was it August? September.
September, yeah. And we can probably say that one of our teams won at the 8th Safari hackathon.
And there were various challenges during the hackathon. I'm so glad that they were able to do it.
And I hope that this year we are going to be able to address those challenges so that everybody can be able to walk away with something during the hackathon and also much, much more when it comes to learning how to build in Web3.
Yeah. So for this year, we are community partners with the Polkadot Savannah, and we are going to be having the campus mix us, whereby we will be going to various universities to introduce people to Web3 and to introduce them to Polkadot, which is great.
Because now somebody who was in my position last year will be like in an upgrade. They will get out of university knowing how to build and knowing that building in Web3 exists.
So we are still on the planning, but we are going to go and visit a couple of universities, not only in the central of Kenya, but all around Kenya.
So by the time we are done, you will go to various parts of Kenya, and people will be knowing about Web3 and also will be knowing about Haadao, which is going to be great.
Leading up to that, we are going to be having a boot camp for Polkadot, where people will get to learn how to build on Web3.
And then following that, there's going to be the hackathon, and where people will get to build their projects, which this is so great because people are not going to go there confused.
And they're just starting to learn how to build on Polkadot on the time of the hackathon or the month of the hackathon. People are going to have gone through a boot camp, which is going to help them with their journey of building.
Hopefully, through that way, and during that time, they're going to be able to meet people who are going to be able to help them scale their journey and push their journey in the Web3 space.
Yes. And then we, apart from that, we do have, we are planning to be having build hours and more boot camps during this year so that we can help people be able to grow in this space, you know, receive recognition.
So there's someone who told me, there's someone who was in a meeting and they say that when it comes to Africa, people really don't, you know, expect so much, especially when it comes to building.
And it's something that I'm hoping that we all can change through these boot camps and hackathons and conferences. Yes. So that's all.
Well, thank you. Thank you. Why don't you go for that? For those of you that don't know, I was also a Hurdal Kenya steward last year, launched in September of 2022, just in time for Eve Safari.
But yeah, I'm so excited to see where the girls of Hurdal Kenya are going to take it now that the team is bigger and more intentional.
Next is Katia would have been next for Hurdal South Africa, but she's not here. So I'm just going to quickly touch on their plans. They are having or hosting an event sponsored by ICP, I think next month in March in Johannesburg.
Following that, they're going to have another event in Cape Town at UCT, the University of Cape Town, sponsored by Polkadot.
Katia has very big, big plans working with the ladies from the townships and just introducing them to basics like tech, you know, and no no has, you know, in the past she represented Hurdal South Africa at one of the biggest and major conferences with three conferences in Cape Town.
And she also spoke on panels with EMURGO Africa. And yeah, she's a consultant in AI as well, building, I think it's a DeFi wallet on chain. So that's Hurdal South Africa, very quickly, short and sweet. Next.
Hurdal South Africa just joined as a speaker.
I didn't see that. Welcome. Is it no no or Katia?
It's no no, sorry.
Can everybody hear me? Thank you, Siannoy. I was just like, oh, we're here, we're here.
Thank you so much.
Hi, everybody. I joined with Hurdal South Africa's account. I am no no from South Africa, one of the governors of Hurdal South Africa. We just recently started just growing the community.
We are so excited to spread with free education. I'm particularly passionate about varsity students. So our approach is similar to Hurdal Kenya, where we are targeting vosities.
And our first event is actually with a school. They're not necessarily a varsity, but they are a postgraduate kind of school. They teach coding. They are heavily on heavy on code.
And they also promote innovation. And so they are very big on exposing their students to emerging technologies. So they are a perfect partner to have on our side.
We also have UCT. And I know Siannoy hooked us up with that one. Thank you, girl. So we have UCT on our side. Also, just we're working with them. We're planning on having more educational events with them, hackathons.
We're building a relationship with ICP. They are a strategic relationship, particularly because building on ICP is a bit more easier. If you have JavaScript, if you have Java, you can't build on ICP.
So we wanted to just tackle the low-hanging fruit, introduce a blockchain protocol that's a bit more easier for the community. Because right now, blockchain education with free education, especially within the Johannesburg region, because we're looking at Johannesburg and Cape Town. Cape Town is the hub. It is the Silicon Valley of Africa.
However, Johannesburg is a bit left behind when it comes to exposure and just what is capable and what's possible on the chain. So we want to see young people build. So there's a lot of hackathons that happen.
Although they open up that channel opportunity for the hackers to use blockchain, nobody touches on it. You hardly ever see anyone suggesting or coming up with a proposal for a blockchain-based solution.
So we want to see these hackathons filled with blockchain solutions, but we also would love to host varsity-based hackathons. So what ICP has communicated is that if we can expose them to the right target audience, then they can then through.
Also, in partnership with Herdao, do varsity-based hackathons in partnership with other universities as well within Hauteng and across South Africa. So we're looking forward to that. We're looking forward to also having more partners. We're looking at talking to Gotani Pei and how they can come in and educate. So they are one of our speakers at this event.
So yeah, as far as roadmap is concerned, it's just education, heavy on education, heavy on then rolling out more hackathons and then also looking at long-term hackathons where we encourage a two-month long hackathon where we take the participants through an extensive way of just innovating, hoping that we really come up with the real products that can be developed to solve African problems,
but also to innovate from Africa to the world. I like how Herdao Kenya said, nothing big is expected from Africa. So we want to change that narrative. Let's change that narrative. So yeah, we're excited. Roadmap is not fleshed out completely. We're still working with Herdao Global to see what else we can add. And yeah, but we're still a baby. We're still starting. Looking forward to great growth. Thank you.
Thank you. I didn't know that Gotani Pei and Herdao saw that. I wish I could attend that event even more, but that was beautiful.
Okay. It's not an extra event. We just called them to the ICP event. So they were like, yeah, we would love. So we were like, okay, cool, come on. And they would then be sharing on the DeFi side and just possibilities of building DeFi solutions.
Okay, perfect. And for those of you who don't know, Gotani Pei, it's an exchange. Am I right?
Yes, they are. They are an exchange. So basically what Menzi wants to do is introduce the fact that yes, they are an exchange. But these are other things that they have seen or been exposed to from a DeFi perspective. And just from his perspective, what he's passionate about when it comes to DeFi. And yeah, with three.
So that's the kind of narrative that we're going to have from them.
Thank you. No, no.
All right.
Herdao, Nigeria.
For Bali, is it possible just to accept the invitation to talk? Or maybe I need to remove one or two people.
Maybe, yeah.
Is it possible right now for Bali and in India?
Hi, did you say India?
Okay. Are we waiting for a bit? Okay. I think Herdao Bali has become a speaker. So let them go first, maybe.
No, it's fine. You can go. That's fine.
Okay. Awesome. So hi, everyone. I'll just quickly introduce myself. I'm Ben Nila, or you can call me Nila.
I'm one of the governors of the Herdao India subdao. And we're also a relatively new subdao.
We started around April, May of last year. And we have Banshika here, who's actually another governor of Herdao India.
And I think she will tell you a little more about Herdao India activations that we did last year and what we have in store for this year.
Yeah, I just, you know, before I lent it over to her, I just wanted to say that I'm also one of the global stewards.
And I think my journey also started as a Herdao scholar. And I think that has been so important in my journey in Web3.
And I can see so many people here, so many women here who have come in the same path that Herdao has played such an important role in their path to exposure.
And knowledge and basically helping them land the job or the career that they've always wanted. So that's super wholesome to see.
And I think that is the passion. And that is the reason that we're why we're all here and why we're doing this.
And yeah, I'm super happy to see if you want here. I, you know, I understand that we're all we've all joined this call from different parts of the world.
So it's like super early for some people and it's super late for some people. But we're all here. And, you know, we want to have this discussion and we want to create the change.
And I think that's super amazing. And yeah, very excited to unveil what we have in store for this year with regards to HD Global.
We have some super exciting activities for you. But before we go to that, I'll hand it over to Manchika.
Hi, everyone. Thanks for that, Nala. And yeah, hello, everyone. I'm Manchika. I'm very excited to be here and share what Herdao India has in store for 2024.
So just a bit of summary of what happened last year. We launched in May of last year. We had a very fun launch house in Chennai, one of the south Indian cities of India.
And it was really fun. We had a lot of people who showed up and supported us. And Herdao India, Herdao itself is very well known in India. So it's awesome that we have a sub chapter in India now.
And yeah, that was our launch house. And then we had some very fun community partnerships and a branch event during ETH India week.
That doesn't mean Blockchain Week that we had. Starting with the community partnership, we were community partners with literally all of the events that happened during Indian Blockchain Week because they reached out to us.
And they know how impactful Herdao is and how impactful all the women in Herdao are. So definitely, everyone reached out. So if you've seen the banners of IBW events, you'll find Herdao India over there.
So we were well represented. After that, we had a branch event for all the women in Web3 and it was a blockchain branch. And a huge shout out to our partner, Celo, who made this possible.
And we had a super cool branch. We met a lot of women and we had a lot of fun, a lot of cool pictures, a lot of fun stuff, a lot of good food. So that was fun.
With coming to 2024, we are more focusing on the technical workshops this time. We are going to do a college roadshow all over India.
We are targeting tier two, tier three colleges and even tier one colleges where people, not just women, but even everyone who are not exposed to Web3 that much will get to know what Web3 is and how we can benefit from Web3.
Just not as a developer, but as a content creator, as a designer, as a growth and marketing strategist and everything. So we are here to help them get in this Web3 train.
So we are doing that. We are focusing on that. And then we have very fun each Mumbai coming up in March and we are definitely going to do some fun event during that time.
So if you guys are in Mumbai in March, so definitely just hit us up. We'll be happy to host you all. And then we've got Eat India as usual every December.
So if you guys don't have plans for December, make it right now. We would love to have you for that as well. So yeah, that's in store for Eat India right now.
But definitely there'll be more events that will come up. And we have a lot of partnership that goes around because recently we had partnership with our connect.
We are having another partnership event with Fleek where we are community partners. So we always do all these fun stuff with different protocols and we've got a great connection.
Also, just before I finish this up, I want to give a huge shout out to Hurdao and all the governors of Hurdao, India, because as Nila said that she started as a scholar, I joined Hurdao, India.
Hurdao was the first Dao that I got to know when I joined Web3. I didn't even know what Dao was. Dao was a very funny word to me at that time. But Hurdao was how I got to know about it.
And I was like, when I get to understand stuff, I will definitely come and contribute. And I did. And I just want to give a huge shout out to Hurdao, India, governors and everyone who started their journey as a learner and now have landed amazing jobs.
I just want to say, Nila is growth and marketing strategist at XR Protocol, another governor. And Sneha is DevRel engineer at middle school. And I am DevRel at Instadap Avocado Wallet.
So, yeah, we are very excited to have you. You know, we want to thank you all for this. And we are very excited to show you guys what we have in store for 2024. Thank you so much, guys.
Yeah. And just piggybacking on Banchika, we really mean it when we say we'd be super happy to host you for Eat India because it's one of the it's not one of the it's the largest Ethereum hackathon in the world.
And, yeah, so it's definitely a must attend event. It's it's just an amazing week. It's very chaotic. But it's super fun. And you get to go to like a million side events and learn so much and meet so many people.
So, yeah, so, you know, marketing your calendars. 2024 is the year. Everyone just come off to India and we'll have a blast.
Yeah, and good food. Food is on us, by the way.
Food is the best way to get us there. Thank you. Looks like you have so much in store. Sounds very exciting. Thank you, Vanchika.
Harald Bali. Next, I believe that is April.
The last one before the roadmap.
Yes. Have we had Nigeria, though?
Hello. Hi. Hey, everyone. It's lovely hearing all the amazing stories from everyone in the subdials globally.
I'm April. I'm from the Bali subdial. And I'll just speak a little bit about what we're doing. So last year I attended a dev event and it was amazing. It was a meetup event.
I met some great people in the community, in the web free community in Bali. Bali is a great hub for web free. There's lots of crypto communities and lots of web free communities that we really want to tap into this year for the events that we have.
And we're currently working on a roadmap for Bali. So we are planning to do some meetups and brunches and workshops and also to introduce another hackathon, which should be really exciting.
And then there's coin fest in August, which will be great. And so there should be a major event around that time as well. Just a coinciding coin fest because a lot of people will be out in Bali for the event. So we want to tap into that.
But yeah, I'm really excited about organizing these great web free events out in Bali. And if you guys are over there, we hope to see you there at one of the events.
And I'm going to pass you over to Kismet who will be working with me on the Bali events. So yeah, great speaking to you guys.
Okay. Are you next?
Hello. Hello. Well, I'm just I'm just chiming in. I'm also working with April with a heard out Bali. And just, you know, just excited. I think she gives she's given everything as far as what our road mapping is so far. We're kind of in the beginning stages of everything.
But yeah, I'm just super excited last year. I think it's almost two years ago at this point where I first went to a hackathon in Bali. And it was one of my first introductions to the web free world.
And being someone without a necessarily technical background, because my background is architecture and hydroponics and things like that.
I was able to kind of be thrown into a community to see how we how we could come together to kind of make dreams happen. And so I'm really excited to be a part of making that continuation contributing to a continuation of that happening in Bali and bridging, you know, those gaps that we have in the in the world of tech
and just trying to get all of us some experience and just kind of like extend our network and things like that. I'm just, yeah, I'm just super, super pumped about it. So I was I actually won one of the submissions to the projects that we did together at the hackathon.
So I'm currently also even developing out that idea. So, you know, when it comes to her down, I truly believe that the base of it will be able to create projects that will be changing the world in all kinds of ways.
So, yeah, that's, that's all I had to share and wanted to add on to just the her the her down Bali experience and my current contributions or my current, what do you call it? Yeah, my current experience. So, thank you.
Thank you. Thank you, Kismet for that. I hope that we will be see you as well towards the end of the year. Big plans with her dog global. So I think that wraps it all up.
So we saw with a show on to talk about it already done, but you can also speak. Yeah, thanks so then. Hi, everyone. Hi, so then. Hi, Lina. Hi, see, I know I hired out Kenya. Hi.
Hi, well, how about France? I think I met a few of them in Turkey. Yeah, so how about Nigeria? We basically started our first event we launched with our first event, which was with courtesy on December, where we, we actually had more guests than expected.
And it was a great event. Personally, I hosted the event and so many people came, although I expected more girls, but you know, that's one of the reasons why Hadao is, you know, is actually doing what it's doing.
And so many people came, the food was good. And we actually have a few people who have actually a couple of people who have actually registered into the grants program. And we are actually going forward with that.
And we're still trying to bring in more people into the grants program for courtesy. And yeah, that's about it for the retrospective for courtesy. And moving on our plans, we actually want to build the Hadao community, you know, because we just launched, and it's still very green.
So we are still like a seedling. Personally, I would actually would love to infuse the Rust community into Hadao, Nigeria, because you know, we have a very strong Rust community in Nigeria here, and also infuse the Solidity community.
Because, you know, Hadao, I mean, it's a Dao, and most of all these blockchains are based in Solidity and Rust. And of course, JavaScript, because if you can write Solidity, you can definitely write JavaScript.
So it's just brings in, it's like a, you know, one stone kills two birds, right? And so we are planning to do more virtual events, more dev workshops, and build our community, you know, let us have like the numbers, you know, strong numbers.
And then of course, we'll definitely be having workshops that will be sponsored by protocols, you name it. So yeah, exciting times for Nigeria. Thank you.
Thank you, Ayo. And I'm very sure by the end of the year, your events will be full of women. So yeah, just keep at it.
All right, so I guess now we are done with the subtitles, and we can introduce or unveil the roadmap. And Solene, I hope you are feeling better. I know you are feeling a bit unwell. But you got this.
Thank you. Thank you for everyone. That's really amazing. All these plans. We need to take some notes after the Twitter space. That's really amazing. I'm pressing. So yeah, what's the vision for 2024? So, like, with three words, just educate, like attract people.
Educate and build. So it's like the logical for this year. And you as subdao, you are grateful to attract and educate people. And also to just build with some people during the academy.
Yeah, for the vision is like really focused on education, because the last two years, the community grows very, very fast. And it's like, complicated to manage everything. And so this year, we are really focused on just like, organize everything and be really efficient to deliver some educational programs.
And yeah, so what's what's your install for this year, probably vanilla, if you want to start to talk about many events, it would be really, really nice.
Yeah, sure. Hi, everyone. Me again. Yeah, thank you for starting us off. Like she said, we've been, you know, the last two years really concentrating on building our community and making sure we have a global presence and, you know, basically making sure that everyone, it's an inclusive dao. So right now, we're going to focus on a builder community.
We're going to make sure that technical skills of our community is going to definitely take, you know, an upwards peak by the end of the year. So how we're going to do this is, as Lena mentioned, that we had our first Hercon in Amsterdam in 2022. So we're bringing back Hercon.
And we're not only bringing back Hercon, we're going to make it a global series.
So I'm super excited to tell you all that we're going to start Hercon, our technical conference series with this March with Eat Global London.
During the blockchain week, during Eat Global London is going to be our first Hercon of 2024. And then we're going to go right over to EatCC in Brussels this year, which is happening in July.
We're going to have our second Hercon there, followed by Singapore in September when there's, you know, token 2049. And then we're going to end it up with our last Hercon of the year, which will be in November in Thailand.
So the specialty and why we've chosen these four specific cities is because, you know, it's not only something that, you know, we're just targeting randomly global events or conferences.
We want to make sure that we attract all target audiences. For example, if you see Eat London and Brussels, we're going to be around a very enthusiastic hacking crowd, a very builder-focused crowd, and that's what we're planning to attract there.
And then when you go over to token 2049 in Singapore, you're going to have a lot of, you know, business-oriented individuals and people who are part of community and marketing.
And, you know, we're trying to include them as well. And then we're going to end up in Thailand in November for DevCon, in time for DevCon.
And, yeah, I don't want to give away a lot about that. Solene will tell you more about what we have planned for that because it is not just Hercon, we have a lot of things planned before DevCon.
But, yeah, when I say that these are the main events for this year, it's not only going to be the Hercon conferences, but also going to make sure, you know, we do a lot of collaborations with other DAWs and other protocols and to bring you more side events like Miriam Brunch event,
like a starters pitch event where people can pitch their startup ideas, just small, small side events like this that can help the community and give them more exposure.
And, of course, we'd also, you know, wherever possible, we're going to try and bring a scholarship program wherever possible so that we can have members who actively contribute to Herda, we can give them the opportunity to travel to this place and help us host the event,
as well as, obviously, hack and learn more and get to attend all of the side events during that week. So, yeah, this is what we have planned when it comes to main events for 2024.
I hope, you know, all of you are excited as we are. So, yeah, I mean, after Solene to tell us more about what we have, especially around, you know, DevCon season.
Yeah, yeah, for sure. So, thank you, Nina. So, she is in charge of the main events, like she said, and for my part, I'm in charge of a special program in terms of education and in terms of events for DevCon.
So, the educational program is called RotoDevCon. And so, basically, the goal is like, like I said before, so attract, educate, and build.
And so, what's the goal? We're going to start in April, probably, with different boot camps that all members of Subdao and members of the community in general are going to take part.
So, the boot camp will be related to Rust, Solidity, Cairo. So, it's like a different programming language in order to be able to come up with some skills during the RotoDevCon program.
So, the RotoDevCon program is basically split in four pop-up cities. And each pop-up city, like, will be during 15 days.
So, be willing, during this 15 days, and during this one, we're going to train women, Roto developers. So, like, around 20 by pop-up city, around different topics like governance, decay, and public goods.
Because, like some people of you said, we are really focused on public goods things because we are, Roto, it's a public good. So, it's critical to be on this topic as well during pop-up city, and to support as well local community.
So, the goal for each pop-up city is to run local meet-ups in addition to boot camps, like 15 days boot camps. We're going to have local meet-ups, workshops, and mini-acts with the local community around 100 people by the city.
And everything is going to be led by women co-developer of pop-up city. So, we are really, really excited about it. And at the end of the program, we're going to have a global gathering, like, the global, the Herdio Global Academy, during DEFCON.
And we are really, really excited about it because after this one, we're going to have some great projects more related to different topics like public goods.
And the goal after this one, it's like to open opportunities to be financed from different accelerators and stuff like that to build your own projects.
So, it's the role of this one, of the road to DEFCON program, and what is the city? So, it's like Bali, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. So, we are really, really excited to collaborate, for example, with Herdio Bali to organize each pop-up city.
And it will be really, really nice. And that's the first time that happens in Herdio. So, yeah, that's all related to pop-up city, what to DEFCON program, and the stuff until December.
And, yeah, if you want to support us for the pop-up city programs, like what to DEFCON program, you can donate on Bitcoin or just join Herdio. And for that, we updated everything this weekend to join Herdio or to give, if you want to make a partnership request about different events.
So, thank you, everyone, for your input, for your alpha. It's really, really nice. Right now, we are well to be focused on the engaged community. We subbed out and to provide a local education program and global education program.
And, yeah, just after this Twitter space, we have special announcements, special threads that you're going to probably love it. So, you don't hesitate to react, to share this one, because I think it's the main thread that we need to relay during this year.
So, yeah, thank you.
Well, thank you, Solene and Vanilla.
I saw lots of reactions to the opportunities for sponsorships to attend the road to DEFCON, and we all look forward to it.
So, we're just going to move on to the Q&A session.
If you have questions, for sure.
If you have questions, yes, indeed.
Maybe, Kazia, you also wanted to, I think you wanted to say something.
Can I still say something?
Please go ahead. Yes.
I'm not really much of a question, just glad to be on board and learning a lot of stuff about DAOs, and as well, you know, working with the team, learning new skills, and all the good things you guys are looking forward to do is going to be part of a learning process for me.
So, I'm really looking forward to this.
Thank you, Kazia. Do you have any questions?
Yes, you know, the question about the focus, what's the focus topic on the tech cities again? Yes, public goods, ZK, and governance.
I just wanted to ask again, because it went so fast and I was so excited. What will be all the topics that the tech cities will focus on?
Yes, around governance, DAO, governance, ZK, and public goods, like the three modules topics for this room.
Amazing. Okay, cool. I just want to say to everyone, also, it's incredible to listen to your roadmap. I'm so excited to see what also all of us can be doing together.
I hope we will attend a lot of online hackathons all together, because that is my favorite thing to do. And we will build amazing things.
So, yeah, I can't wait to see all of you at some online hackathons and real life ones as well. But yeah, very much looking forward.
Thanks, Lina. So great to hear from you, this kind of feedback. Thank you.
So right now, we're going to just post the thread and you're going to enjoy it. Let's go.
Thank you very much for your attention. And like I said, great input. And we're going to provide a lot of good things for this room.
Thank you so much. You are doing the most incredible job. And everybody, all the students here, all the DAO governance, you are incredible.
So I'm very, very excited and pumped for this year. I feel like all of us are going to go into this year. And we're like, oh, my God, we're going to do it all.
So thank you so much. You are incredible. And everybody here who spoke today. So, yeah, you inspire me. Thank you.
Before we wrap up, I think we definitely have to mention Lina and Tracy, of course, I think they've really helped us out and they've really guided us.
And, you know, they've been very patient with us and we had like a million questions for them as soon as we came on board as global stewards and they were there and they continue to be there for us and help us out whenever, you know, we need something.
So you have huge props to them. And I don't think, you know, we'd be able to do any of this without their support. And I think it's because of their encouragement and because of their support that, you know, we're able to do as much as we can for her.
So thank you so much, guys.
Yeah, I agree. We do agree. Thank you. So let's go. Bye bye. Bye. Bye.
