Hey everyone, thanks for joining. We're gonna get started in just a minute or two to get everyone a chance to join.
Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in. This is the third Sustainable Blockchain Summit AMA before SPS, the Sustainable Blockchain Summit next week, which is going to be in Boston on April 13th. Thanks so much for coming. We'll get started while people are still sort of filtering in and some of
the folks who are speaking at SPS coming up and have spoken at SPS events in the past are logging in and becoming speakers. The Sustainable Blockchain Summit is right at the intersection of all of the amazing stuff going on in Web 3 and in Sustainable
So we all know about both the problems and the promise of Web 3 when it comes to sustainability and climate, right? On the problem side, historically a lot of blockchains have caused a lot of emissions and we're looking to both measure, have a
really good understanding of what the environmental impacts of different Web3 systems are and reduce those impacts. Then on the promise side, there's a ton of ways that verifiability is central to both Web3 and to sustainability.
So when we talk about measuring and reducing environmental impacts, Web3 is all about building verifiability into our computing primitives. Right? So allowing us to verify data, understand the provenance of data, and interoperate between different systems that need to share data in a distributed way.
Those are exactly the tools that we need in order to improve sustainability, right? Improvies G give people a better sense when they read, okay, this company, this project, this product is carbon neutral. You get a sense for what that means and be able to verify those claims, right?
That's what we're looking to do at the standard walk-in. We're looking to highlight all of the ways that we can decarbonize Web 3 and use Web 3 to decarbonize the world. So we have a bunch of really great speakers here who have spoken at SPS events in the past, like the one that we did last
October in Bogota in Columbia. And we're going to just go around first and ask people to introduce themselves and talk for a couple minutes about what perspective they bring to this, right? So what project you're part of and what you're looking
to talk to people about at SBS. So we're going to go down this list. We have Peter here from Ripple. We have Anna from Coco Dow. I believe we have Gregory from Regen here. We have Chris from Toppill and we have Nirvon from the Climate Collective. So Peter, if we could start with you.
Great. Yeah, so I'm from Ripple and I've been working on providing a new set of climate and sustainability based tools for the XRPL. So Ripple's work
with the XRPL foundation to make sure that XRPL is 100% carbon neutral. Ripple itself has dedicated itself to being carbon neutral by 2030. And we're partnering with watershed to actually provide full transparency on our corporate journey for that.
And then finally another big thing that rippling out last year and we're super excited about all the activity we've got on it is we announced a hundred million dollar fund where we are buying carbon credits and carbon
forward from promising sustainability and ecological projects. We're also doing some equity investments and some of these projects and infrastructure providers. And our XRPL grant cycles now all includes sustainability projects.
as well as we funded a bunch of early stage and late stage companies using those funds. Awesome. So you're really right at the intersection of of decarbonizing Web 3 and using Web 3D decarbonized the world. Right. Like you're both demonstrating how with
With the xrp chain you can build tools in support of having this really low carbon, carbon neutral blockchain and then also building on top of that in order to help people make sustainability claims. Yeah, for sure. So we've been working with the state
several different companies, Rocky Mountain Institute is one. And also we've been following some of the foot for those who are familiar with the global blockchain business coalition, the IWA voluntary ecological markets token standard. We've been helping implement
