Hello, hello, everybody. We are just getting one moment to get all settled. Hey, little
box crew. But if you can hear us, will you just give us a quick emoji just so that we
know sound is working well? I can hear you. Awesome, great. We will just give one moment
for the rest of the morph team to join us. I think we are almost all here, which is great.
But yeah, welcome. I'm excited to talk SparkLoom and all things about this morph hackathon and
how we are sharing it with the little box crew. But yeah, we will just give everyone one more
second to join the Twitter spaces and then we will get started. And just for those who don't know,
I'm Gloria. I am the director of global events at morph. Fun fact is that I used to work at
middle box leading internal and external events there. So I might be familiar to some of you
all, but I'm glad to see some old faces and some new faces as well. I have a great team that I get
to work with on both sides, actually. I think they're all great. So it's great to be able to
join forces and bring you one fantastic hackathon. On our morph team, we have Rahat. He is our
dove well. And then we also have a Brill who will be joining us in a second. She is also our
developer advocate. And the build a box team, we of course have Rachel and Annalisa and Irena and
Morton and Blurta. Jonas. Jonas. We're all here to bring you a great hackathon and a fun time for
the next four weeks. Oh, and hi, Rachel. Rachel as well. So cool. I think we have everyone on
stage that we need to have on stage. So we can go ahead and get started. If that works for y'all.
That's good to me. Awesome. I'm going to probably pass it to Rahat first so that he can do his
introduction and then I'll give it to a build and we'll start with some insight into this hackathon.
Hey, y'all. I'm Rahat, one of the folks on the dev rel team at morph. I'm really excited to be
starting this hackathon off both a little bit, introduce yourself, but I'll be doing a couple of
the workshops. I'll be around to help mentor folks who are building throughout the hackathon and be
able to give you some support there. Hi, everybody. I'm Abriel, and I'm going to be judging the hackathon
but also helping a lot of builders. I'm very excited to see what you guys are going to build.
Also, I'm going to do office hours to help people, resources, ask. You're welcome to ask questions
every Tuesday in our Discord channel. Yeah. If anything, we really were thinking a lot about
the people who are going to be building during this hackathon and we wanted to create as many
resources and opportunities for you to reach out as possible. There are going to be definitely
ways to do that. You'll be able to always contact us in Discord. You'll be able to
sing with us in our office hours, but there's also a lot of resources on the developer docs and
on the YouTube channel where you'll be able to kind of have those resources available to you there
as well as workshops. While we're doing this, let's go ahead and jump right in. I'm going to see if
maybe Rahat will tell us a little bit more about morph, like what is the protocol and technology
and then what is kind of going on behind the scenes and why we are doing this hackathon.
Yeah, so a little bit about morph. Morph is a layer 2 scaling solution on top of ETH.
What kind of differentiates our solution versus some others would be a couple things. One is our
optimistic ZKAVM. We take the approaches that both optimistic rollups and ZKAVMs have and combine
the best of both worlds to give you kind of a cost-effective rollup that still has the security
of a ZK rollup. In addition to that, a couple things that make up the full picture would
be our decentralized sequencer. Abril actually has some content coming out so that you can dive
deeper into some of that stuff as well. But what we wanted to kind of achieve with this hackathon
is really starting to interact with builders, starting to see what folks are really interested
in building and see how we can support first the hackathon and even beyond. The hackathon is kind
of like a starting point. We want folks to come in here, see what you're interested in, see what
you're building. Obviously, we've got some really cool bounties and everything like that,
but this is really just the beginning of it. We want to make sure that all the builders who
are participating, who are part of this, we have more long-term relationships providing you support
throughout your journey and building whatever project or protocol that you might have.
Of course, we're going to be supporting throughout the hackathon. This is just the start of it.
We want to make sure we're building an ecosystem of builders who are really
pushing the boundaries of making sure we're putting out cool dApps for consumers.
If you go through our docs and everything else, that we're a very consumer-centric
chain. We want people to be building for other people. Anything that we can help out
on that end of things, we'll be here throughout the hackathon and beyond.
Yeah, as Rahal had mentioned too, this hackathon is part of a broader ecosystem that we're having,
so it's not just the hackathon, but we also have the incubators and then the grant programs that
are going to be rolling out as well in concurrency with this hackathon. There's a whole lot of
opportunities to get involved. This hackathon has both coding and non-coding challenges as well,
so we really want people who are just excited about more from what's available to
constantly feel like they can contribute to the ecosystem.
Let's get into a little bit of the nitty-gritty about the actual hackathon.
The hackathon is going to start on March 25th, so on Monday, that is when it starts,
and there are a couple of different tracks. Maybe I'll go ahead and let Rahit talk a little bit
about the tracks, and then I'll go over the hackathon schedule when he's done with that.
Yeah, so there's two main tracks. One is the consumer-centric track, and one is an
innovation track. Consumer-centric track, we're looking for folks to build, like I mentioned before,
stuff that people will be using from day to day. One of the things that I made sure was in that
track was that we want you to build something that the team or anyone who sees it, it would
be like a DAPT that I would open every day to check something, do a transaction. We want to
encourage people to be doing stuff on-chain, so that's really the main focus of the consumer-centric
side. How do you get people to just transact on-chain daily and make it fun, make it easy,
make it accessible for them? And there's a bunch of different ideas that will be listed out there
that you can go through. There's three prizes there. They range from like $3,000 for the top
prize, $2,000 and then $1,000. So they'll be like a top three in that track. And the same thing for
the second track, which will be an innovation track. So that's more where we're looking for
you to really try different things. You can build with AI, build AI agents on-chain,
do things like building out new infrastructure for the chain. One of the cool things is since we're
early in the journey here, there's a lot of opportunity for folks to come in and build
really cool and for projects that are geared towards helping other builders in the ecosystem
as well. So if you take a look at like really the start of like some other chains,
like if you take like Avalanche, for example, one of their early projects was like Trader Joe,
although there's like D5 protocols on like across different chains, because like they came in,
they were kind of the first folks to like really build something that was good on that chain,
Trader Joe took off really well, right? So you can kind of like emulate that success now on
Marft is like a unique opportunity to come to like an ecosystem, build like a really cool app
that may already exist in some form or another. But because we're starting off the ecosystem,
you have like that first person kind of mover advantage of like coming in and building
something really cool, something, you know, improved or better than other versions of it
and other ecosystems. So we're really looking for innovation on that side of things in that track.
Yeah, and then the third track is that no code track. That's where we're looking for things that
are that don't require coding that you can use to kind of boost the morph ecosystem. So it could be,
you know, YouTube tutorials or YouTube analyzations of morph or you could be, you know, memes,
it could be some business analytics, and there's a lot of opportunities there to contribute to the
morph ecosystem where you're not necessarily coding a project from scratch.
Yeah, so that is a little bit more about morph. The spark loom hackathon kicks off the 25th. And so
we'll have a kickoff session on that day at 9am PST. There's a zoom link when you
sign up for the hackathon, that would be an invitation to our kickoff. And then that whole
week is filled with lots of great workshops that will be hosted by Ebel and by Rahat. So maybe Ebel,
if you want to tell us about your workshop that you're hosting that week, and then Rahat,
if you could tell us about yours after that, that would be helpful too.
Yeah, so I will be hosting the first workshop the next Tuesday. And so that will be basically
an introduction to morph just to get started to know more about the technical details. And I will
show how you can deploy a contract your first contract on the testnet using our tools for you
know, can be like hardhats or foundry. So that will be basically the workshop and then we can
make office hour afterwards, to just, you know, respond some questions or whatever you want to
ask after the workshop, we will even have a session for it. So yeah, that will be the first workshop.
Yeah, there'll be two other workshops as well. So the second workshop is going to be kind of like a
full stack building, building like a Venmo clone type of project, where we'll explore like,
not only like the smart contract side, but also like the front end side, how to like put everything
together. So there'll be you'll be learning about, you know, some of the latest kind of like
tooling in the space. So foundry, VM, Wagme using like these popular tools to build out like a robust
app. And the third and final workshop will be around testing fundamentals, how to test your smart
contracts, make sure they're, you know, doing the things that you say they're going to be doing,
as well as some like basic, some like around security, and making sure that you're keeping
security in mind when you're building out your projects.
Awesome. And just for FYI, we will also be having like a team building session that will go on
on Monday, so that people can find team members if they want to work with team members.
That's fine. But you can also do team building in the discord. If you want to just kind of drop what
you're thinking about making, or that you're looking for a team or anything like that, you can do that
in discord. One note is that you don't have to have a team in order to contribute to this
hackathon, you can just do it solo if you so please, that's totally fine too. And you can join
the hackathon at any time while the hackathon is going. So all your team members don't have to
be there from day one, if you find someone that wants to join the hackathon, or join your project
during the hackathon later, that's totally fine as well. And I think we've touched a little bit on
the prizes too, but each track, I think when you go over the prizes for your track, and then we can
go over the prize balls for the other track too. Yeah, so on each of the consumer and the
innovation tracks, they're both listed the same way. So the top prize in each of them will be
3000 USDT. And second prize would be 2000. And third prize would be 1000. So three winners for each track.
And yeah, a bill and I will take part in judging some of those. So
we're looking for folks to really bring in some awesome projects, some awesome ideas.
If you need feedback on any of those ideas, we're happy to give those as well.
Yeah, and in the no code track, we have a pulled bounty that is 2000 USD. And so that bounty will
be awarded to the top prizes that come into the no code track that will be judged internally by
our morph team as well. So I want to be able to open the floor up for anybody who has any questions.
And while you're thinking of your questions, what I will do is I'll try to get some of the resources
up. But I guess a bill and if you want to tell people where they could find our resources,
that would be helpful. And I'll start to get the links.
Yeah, you can find our resources mainly in our docs. But also, you know, like we are building a lot
of templates for you guys. You can find our YouTube videos to just get to know more about
the technical details and introduction. And you can always talk to us in Discord, Telegram,
in our office hours. And yeah, anything that you want to see from us, we are happy to help.
We'll also be sharing kind of like a couple GitHub repos of resources and templates as well.
So once the hackathon proper starts off, you'll have access to all of those.
And we're working on getting the links right there on the jumbotron for you.
One of the links is the link to the hackathon. If you want to go ahead and sign up, that's great.
That link will be there for you in just a moment. And then let's see, the other link
is going to be to the developer docs. One of the things that I would strongly suggest too,
is like Rahat has a great eight minute video that's currently up on YouTube. And I believe
Abril has a video that's up on YouTube as well, going over decentralized sequences. Rahat's one up
there is about just an overview about morph and our architecture, and it gives you a little bit
insight to our technology. So if you want to familiarize yourself a little bit more about morph,
that's a great starting point. And that kind of helps you as you start to ideate as well.
Let's see, with that, I'll open it up for questions. If you want to raise your hands,
then we'll know who we need to bring up and we can try to answer a couple of your questions.
All right, I don't see any questions. So why don't you give me a thumbs up if this
sounds great for you. And if I don't get thumbs up, then I'll know I'll have to answer something
more details. Awesome. Thank you, Amir. Yeah, so I don't really have anything to add unless
anyone else has anything to add. Oh, perfect. So with that, you know, I will just say happy
building. I'm excited to see what you all create. This hackathon, again, goes from March 25th to
April 22nd. And we're excited to kind of see what you all build during this time. Yeah,
we're excited to be able to show this opportunity to you all as well.
We will have a tweet also sharing all the resources and everything that's related to the
hackathon. So stay tuned. And yeah, I'm very excited to see what you guys will build.
Just one piece of insight to when you go to register for the hackathon, you won't be able to
see the you'll see the tracks, but you won't be able to see the actual challenges until the
hackathon starts. That's just so everybody has an equal chance to create their projects
all at the same time. So if you don't see it, don't feel lost. They will open on the day of
the hackathon start. So then you'll be able to see the actual challenges, the requirements that go
along with those requirements and or with those challenges and a little bit more insights around
like, you know, what we would love to see and, you know, what your submission requirements are and
things of that nature. So if you don't see them right now, don't worry, that's by design. But
you will see it on Monday, and you can always come to our kickoff and get a little bit more
insight there. And but they're also the kickoff will be recorded, and you'll be able to see it
all on our YouTube as well. With that, happy building and Rahat or April, do you have any last words?
No, just looking forward to seeing the cool stuff everyone builds will be around
the, you know, happy to answer questions that come up any resources or support that you all need
will be here. Yeah, looking forward to it.
Yep, until then, feel free to find us on Discord. We're more than happy to answer questions there or
send us a DM if you don't want to ask anything publicly, and we'll make sure that we get your
questions answered. Yeah, happy building. I can't wait to see what you all build. We're super excited
for you to be part of this community. Alright, bye, everyone. Thank you so much, Biddlebox,
for setting up this Twitter spaces, and we're happy to be collabing with you on this hackathon.
Yes, I'm super excited. Alright, happy building and see you all soon.
