NFTs glow, innovation in the show.
Inspired from the ground, watch the progress as it grows.
Builders get the ground, never fold, never slow, this the base NFT show, everybody let's go.
Sketches on napkins to decentralized captains, blockchains they run and break it through the old patterns, lifting up the dreamers till success ain't a question, late night at base junkie, it's the session, makes it later dreams, but the passion ain't a JPEG, crypto convos, buzz like lightning through the headset, build a shape, the culture, roots and dead with the code, on this pace we elevate, it's a glory filled road.
Welcome, welcome, welcome everybody to another edition of the Base NFT Show.
We are live for the very first time on a pretty big account.
It's not my account, it's not Base Junkies' accounts, it is the Build on Base account.
We are happy to have you here if you like NFTs.
This is a show for you every Monday, 1 p.m. PST.
I think it's 8 p.m. UTC. I don't know.
Sorry, Europe time. It's terrible for me.
But we got some great guests.
But more importantly, before we start with anything, Face Junkie, my friend.
Most important question of the day, my friend, is how are you doing today?
I must say, it feels good to be on the big account. I know. I mean, this is a massive step up for the NFT ecosystem on base.
I think for a long time coming, you know, people and builders and founders in the NFT space kind of feeling a little bit less out in the cold saying like, you know, when will the base team show some love to the builders on the NFT space?
When will the base team show some love to the builders in the NFT space?
So starting last week with the first base NFT show, we saw the base team show up in force.
And then this week, them stepping up another notch and saying, yo, we want to host this from the big account.
We want to amplify the builders who are pushing on the red days, the green days.
really excited to listen and speak to some of our guests yeah i feel like i feel like i'm in the
minor leagues in baseball i just got called up to the big show this is like my opening premiere in
the the big leagues so hopefully i do it proud and i don't get sitting down demoted so we won't
try to get demoted we're going to be our a game but uh again none of this
will be possible base and talkie talkie uh floor is yours my friend i know you have some valuable
things to say thank you bill and thank you base chunky hey gmgm everyone welcome to our second
episode of the base energy show which is part of our growing series of base virtual events hosted
right here on the base build on base account it's your first time tuning in. This is a community-led
session hosted by Light Now on Bayes and Bayes Chunky where we spotlight artists,
builders, and storytellers shaping the on-chain NFC space on base. And today's
lineup features some incredibly creative minds here to share their work, talk
process, and explore what's possible when culture meets on-chain. Before we jump in,
a quick disclaimer. Today's conversation is for
informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute investment or legal advice.
Views expressed are our own and do not represent Base or Coinbase. Nothing shared should be
considered an endorsement by us, Base or Coinbase. And all right, let's get it. Super excited to see
Pretty excited to see what's cooking.
what's cooking. Passing it back over to Wait Now on Base and Base Junkie to get us started here.
Passing it back over to Wait Not On Base and Base Shunky to get us started here.
Yes, nothing we say is financial advice.
We are just two guys amplifying what you guys, the builders on base, are doing in the NFT sector.
But let's get it because we have three amazing guests, first of all.
And I know you're pretty stoked about this, Base Shunky.
We got Shields going to represent Bass Downs. And also she's speaking at NFT NYC and we have
the amazing TYBG. Thank you, Bass God, on as well. How does it feel, Bayshungi, on your end to be
finally like, all right, not only are we having this cool show with great guests, but more
importantly, we are able to, like, like for me i'm so excited that the base
uh core team is showing so much love to the nft ecosystem like tell me like why would any other
builder on any like why would you choose any other chain when you have base pushing this like to me
it's a no-brainer and i'm so excited for this for for all of us what do you think
i mean to be honest you know i i've i've danced
around the different chains i you know i have a background in eth nfts and then of course i spent
a good time on ape chain and some lana just you know just testing the waters and of course it's
fun to be had on every chain and there's good builders and bad builders on every chain let's
just get that clear uh i see a lot of good things happening over on ape chain
and you know it's it's great to see you know communities coming together now this is an area
where base was lacking base has been listening and base has the potential to really kick it up a notch
and and jump into the big leagues you know base has the the best onboarding mechanisms across the world to uh onboarding
normies into crypto and the fact that the the team is so in touch with culture community and
supporting uh different different sectors of the space through these community run initiatives it
really shows that uh base is the place for builders. Absolutely. Meta G, shout out to you.
We will emerge from this market on fire of Victorious.
We made it to the majors, Dry Tortuga.
We made it to the majors.
We appreciate each and every one of you.
The way this show works is a little different than our show on Thursdays.
Three guests, 15 minutes each segment.
We'll dive deep about them.
to dive deep about them and then we will have a group session at the end bring everyone on stage
And then we will have a group session at the end.
and if there are if there are you know community questions please type it in to uh the x spot or to
the twitter chat it in we will shout you guys out at the end and then any questions that you have
let's go already about 1100 uh on the main account very nice very nice hopefully you guys like what
we have to say so without further ado bass junkie i think we call up
shills first how does that sound to you it sounds like it sounds like the best move
i agree it's the best move shills how are we doing today what is up my friends i am fantastic
how are you all doing oh better better better to know it's Monday. I don't care about the prices at all.
I'm just stoked to do this show and have you on and everyone on this stage.
And yes, who cares right now?
Honestly, when it comes to the market, everybody knows what it looks like right now.
There's no point in really getting into that.
point in really getting into that um you know i think uh that's a great segue into you know
the the the culture of nfts and the culture of art and music and games and what it really offers
and um why we're really here today so you know i'm not gonna steal your thunder i'll just stop
right there and see what you maybe want to ask first yeah let's go so shows we're going to talk
about what you're going to be doing nft nyc And we're also going to be talking about base nouns.
So I want to kind of know,
we want to get a little more amplification on all these projects,
but we want to know what excites you.
So let's start with base nouns,
Why are you so passionate that you want to come on stage and talk about base nouns?
Tell us more about it for those that are tuning in who don't know really
first it's dark nouns. So dark nouns is the collection. Well, first, it's Dark Nouns.
Dark Nouns is the collection.
It's directly from the Base Nouns account from Goya Bean, who is our originator of the Base Nouns overall here on base as a spinoff of, obviously, the OG Nouns.
And he built this community for us.
He and I actually met at Basecamp last year,
Basecamp 101. Shout out to all my devs and storytellers and builders that were there.
It was a really magical time. And we met on the bus, actually, heading up there from California.
And it was just like that instant cosmic energy of you're cool, I'm cool, we're humans, let's build.
And we just kind of have stayed connected ever since. And I've just followed, watched what he's doing, watched the community
he's been building with base nouns. And then he actually came into the creators group here
on the back end, where all of us together behind the scenes that Statuet had helped get together
last year and established, and let us know that he was going to be building this dark nouns
collection. But he didn't tell us what it was he he's real stealth like that um so it was
more of a hey i'm working on something let me know if you're interested um and i'll read you in
so i of course was interested wanted to jump in and learn more about it um and then it kind of
just grew from there um i actually have my own piece in there and a lot of people don't know
that um i don't do pixel art usually i do smoke
art um all handmade all you know uh layers within um canva typically is what i use but um to to be
invited into doing something so prestigious was really cool for me and i was able to utilize the
templates and tools that they have for you to use to to make the pixel art with the nouns you know
requirements just like you would with any other requirements for collections.
And I was pretty impressed with what I actually did.
And I was scared to send it in,
but I did and it got a lot of great feedback from Goya and others as well.
And I actually don't know who has mine today.
I've been trying to chase it down and I'm probably going to put a bounty on it
at some point because I don't know who it is that owns it.
But if you want to, yeah I think I think we're dancing around the burning question here can you tell us which one is or can you yeah can you tell us which one
is your exclusive shield give us alpha girl give us alpha yeah if you look down on the creators I
think it's the creators um when you go over on the left, I think it's the creators.
When you go over on the left-hand side, like look at your traits and stuff, you should see like who are the creators, I believe.
I forget what it's called.
I don't know what they name it.
Yeah, I'm down there somewhere.
And you'll get this listing.
See, you can see all of the great names of people who contribute it.
Who's not working dark noun at all?
Ugaroto, Ugaroto, you might need to talk to Shills.
Yeah, and the concept behind the dark nouns is, of course, you know, just it is what it is, right?
Things can go dreary. But when that happens, it actually is more of it allows a new beauty to be created and it allows new origins and new themes to emerge.
And what he did with that was allow for this brand new play space to be created.
And it's not just a place where it's, you know, maybe derivatives of things or,
or there's nothing wrong with that. I represent that right. But this was really an opportunity
to bring so many different artists together across all of the base ecosystem. I've not seen a collection yet
that has had 39 different individual contributors who may have put multiple pieces in, but, you know,
wide range of variety across all of the major base collections who contributed to this. So
you'll see that as you kind of dig through and see who some of the creators are. So that's pretty
impressive in and of itself.
But with what he's doing with the community and the rewards that are being given back,
If you go look at the base nouns,
if you go look from Goya Bean,
I think it's a seven different giveaways
that we're doing right now,
I want to say starting today for a sweep contest.
the type of things that we're giving away
from physical rewards that will get mailed to you
from other NFTs, from USDC. And guess what?
Even if you aren't a holder,
we're going to give you 20 bucks if you just share our stuff and it actually
like gets us some more sales and you're going to get entered in that drawing.
Who actually just gives free money away for, for actually like just sharing.
Nobody does that. They say they're going to, it's engagement for me.
That is not what this is. This will actually happen. So it's really, that's why I represent, you know,
there's a lot of emotional ties to it, you know, just from my relationship with Goya as friends
and builders. But more than anything, I've seen the community that has rallied around it.
A lot of the one-to-ones that are out there are actually literally off the market. They've been
off the market the entire time.
I know there's some in bigger names, of course.
You know, we all know Jesse collects everybody's stuff,
but Vitalik actually has some and some others too.
And another big alpha I'll leave with is that something that Goya has also
been working very hard on, and it will reward Dark Noun holders,
is he's actually working on bringing the big casino to base,
casino yeah i was authorized to tell you all that he said wow i know he's already been working on
the siren the siren emoji would be like ding ding ding ding that's big time okay okay so he's been
dropping up a few things here and there on that um and that's all i can give but just know that
there is a casino in the works that he is spearheading for base for coming to base not base specifically themselves are involved but he is
spearheading that with folks that on the base chain amazing let me ask you this base junkie
so what is because again you are more you're probably one of the most in touch person when
it comes to that i know nft culture what creates a project what creates the branding the vibe what makes a project
successful so in your opinion you know obviously you're very much um what's the word you're you're
not biased at all you just kind of tell them where your take is what are your thoughts on
dark downs in the sense of like what strikes you as most appealing for the community is it the art
is the community what what strikes your fancy i guess you could say
well i think it starts from uh from goya being himself the fact that he was able to bring in over 30 different artists shows the fact that he's respected uh in the space and you know people don't
just just you know contribute to other people's collections uh for the fun of it like it's it's
because you know he's he's he gives as, I mean, he supports others.
And that's one of the things that really makes Base Home,
you know, builders supporting others.
So Goya has been, he's been on multiple of our shows
He's championing other builders.
And therefore, when it's time for his collection to launch,
you know, he can reach out to a bunch of people
and then people are like, yeah, you know what?
I got your back, support builders so i think that is that is pinnacle in in um you
know bringing communities together yeah i think so and i shout out to goya because you're right
builders help builders but builders don't just help anybody it's a collaborative effort like
don't expect if you're coming on base to be like i'm a builder help me no it doesn't work that way
it's about relationships it's about being able to provide value to others.
If you do that, others will naturally want to help you.
So creating what Goya is doing does strike me as well.
The fact that they have 30 different artists contributing to collections such as Shills
and now she's advocating for it is super, it's difficult to do, but it just shows the
level of authenticity and leadership from him, from Goya.
because we have a little bit of time left.
Now let's talk about you,
because you are somebody who is establishing yourself
as one of the predominant, massive figures
in the NFT's case, most well-respected,
one of the most well-respected men or female.
And I have a lot of respect for you.
And now you're super-tuned you and now you deserve flowers i met
you about a year ago with the woman initiative and you pivoted now to nfts and creating a massive
force and now you're going to be speaking at nft nyc talk to us first of all what does it mean to
be speaking at nft nyc and second what are you going to uh be talking about when you're there
yeah um well i think first and foremost it means that that I'm on the right path to what I've been doing.
To your point, you know, I entered the space a year and a half ago-ish and just really was trying to figure out my groove and where I wanted to land, you know, permanently within the space.
And art has always been my love.
It's literally been my whole backstory of my life.
And in my pieces, a lot of that kind of
comes out and there'll be more about that to come out later down the line but as far as speaking
specifically I've been speaking at events and conventions and stuff most of my life with other
things a product related maybe or technical related a lot of charity work, volunteer things that I do. So naturally speaking to me is
just normal, I guess you could say. But to have submitted for the first time ever to speak at such
a large event, the most coveted NFT event, realistically, if you will, in my opinion,
from what I've seen in the globe that really truly does hit all the areas and gets better
um means that i made it it means that i'm really doing it right it means that my passion for all of you because for those who aren't aware my subject for um the the talk that i was actually
granted and it's not a panel it is an actual 10 minute solo talk of me on stage for 10 full minutes
And it's solo talk of me on stage for 10 full minutes.
So that was a, it was, that's why I said, whoa, it was a big deal.
I did, I did not expect necessarily that that would happen.
I thought, sure, I had a great shot just because of my background.
But to truly be accepted was a whole other level.
But it's because I was supported by this community, the NoPunks community, Astro and Hulu especially,
by this community, the NoPunks community, Astro and Hulu especially, who really just helped give me
that growth over the past year to use their platform, to grow their brand, to grow them,
to grow the community. And within that meeting, all the different groups I have and being able
to just really be somebody that everyone can come and talk to. I know that for me to be able to get
all of that, because that's what I will be speaking about, the no meta movement is what
we've heard a lot of people talk about, dubbed no meta. It specifically came from the no punks
derivatives that came out, which is a one-to-one of all the 100 or 10,000 crypto punks that are
out there. And the movement behind it is, you know, when you strip
away the noise or for their lack of what their accomplishments were, we're stripping away the
skin tones out of the CryptoPunks and just focusing on the traits. It is no different than when we
look at each other as humans. And some of you have heard me say this, but this is what you will hear
me talk about then. When we stop and strip out the noise and we stop and strip out the indifferences and the things that don't matter.
And we focus on the skills and we focus on what people are good at and what we want to do with each other and our human aspects and how we together can do this huge brand new life of an ecosystem where we fundamentally say, you know what?
where we fundamentally say, you know what, you're a cool person, and I like you, so let's see where
You're a cool person and I like you.
this can go and what we can build together without having all this legal nonsense in the way, or
these staminas, because you're from over here, you're only allowed to be in this space, or,
you know, you were raised in this way, so Lord heaven forbid, or you didn't go to college, so
you are nothing. I've been to college three times and have no degree. Let me say that
out loud. I have been to college three times and I still have no degree and look where I am. So
take that one. No, kudos to you. It doesn't matter about the college degree. It doesn't
matter about anything. It doesn't matter who you are as a person going out for what you want. And
you are a case in point where I just know, and I'm not just saying this because you're on the show.
I just know you are going to be a force to be reckoned with. So Shills, we have to end our time here. I can literally talk to you for an hour. I know basically,
but we want to make sure before you leave, you have the floor. Any last words you have for the
over 2,600 people tuning in from the Base Builders account about you or Dark Downs?
Yeah. The other piece, and this all just happened last week. I was also accepted to have my art showcased at NFT NYC.
So I'm not just speaking.
I am also a first time artist.
And I attended their first ever boot camp that they held last week.
They did a two day boot camp for what their one hub platform is, which is an actual all encompassing place for you to do all of your art from minting from sales.
It brings in all of your stuff from minting from sales it brings in all of your
stuff from other platforms that you've minted on and um they were asking for feedback on on how
it's functioning and some alpha they have of things that are coming out that i cannot talk
about yet but all i can say is this fundamentally will be the biggest nft nyc we've ever seen and
there are some massive artists tied the biggest just think of the biggest artists in the world right now.
And that's all I'm going to say.
what I want to leave for everyone here is that no matter where you are in the
as long as you have a desire to be more,
Just find the people who believe in you.
It only takes one person and then from that
person that's what networking is you do need to know people to get somewhere in life it's not
oh she left us like on literally like she was like on the cusp she was on the cusp i was like
where's my popcorn oh you broke up i was like waiting i was like oh
my god what's she gonna say next i'm sorry i think your connection is good if you want to
it was it was profound it was profound oh man i don't even know where to stop that you know it's
it's just the the the border the board the bottom line is is that everyone is able, everyone is capable, and everyone has the empowerment to be more.
And just find one person who believes in you.
Find a small community that you can jive in.
I'm 43 years old, and until last year, I didn the world, the things that I want to see accomplished currently in the majority of my life and the people I'm surrounded in don't see it that way.
And that's not a negative.
And I found home in all of these communities and all of the people who are on base because they want the same things too.
people who are on base because they want the same things too. And we're unstoppable because when you
have strength in numbers and you have people who are empowered and they know they are to take
control of their lives, you will not stop them. Period. Amazing. That was incredible. I'm honored
to know you as a friend and you're a base builder. And honestly, hopefully people took words.
And it doesn't matter what age you are.
At the end of the day, never give up.
Never stop believing in yourself and surround yourself with those that also believe in you.
Shills, we appreciate you very, very much.
Man, how do we even top that?
I think, no no offense that's tough
it's a wrap guys it was great to have you guys thank you for episode two sorry everyone
honestly like um i can listen to shields just talk uh because because you you hear the sincerity
and the passion and you know i got to know her in the the no punks chat and she's always championing
others and the fact that she does that time and time again,
and then it's finally found her tribe and getting noticed,
and all the builders are supporting her.
She deserves all the success in the world,
and I really feel inspired after listening to her.
All right, so now we're going to turn to the next guest.
We're going to talk to the Ape Society base junkie.
I'm going to let you lead the way. We're to add up the guys but i'm excited for this one
because uh they've made the move to base and i think they made the right decision and i'm happy
they did so without further ado let's get them up uh let's see boom we got a couple people on stage
let's go they roll deep they roll deep guys how are we all doing today GM GM we're good how are you
can't complain bro it's a good it's a good day to talk NFTs in the markets can do what they want
but I must say looking on the timeline seeing the community showing up and seeing the builders
building I know you guys are completely unfazed by the markets. And I think is today, is it today a big day for you guys?
Yesterday or last night, within the last few hours, it's kind of a blur.
I didn't get much sleep last night.
Yeah, the bridge to, so we bridged from Cardano last May
and the bridge has been open since then and last night we reached
five thousand five hundred and fifty five out of seven thousand nfts which is a really great number
um over to base and the bridge closed forever so it's official you're now no more now it's
you're on base that's way back. No way back.
The decision is officially final.
What's going to happen to the 1500 that chose to stay?
They can print them out, do whatever they want with them.
A lot of those are inactive wallets.
A lot of people over the last few years have kind of just quit crypto, for example.
We noticed, like, looking at wallet activity.
As you know, there's just not much going on over there in terms of volume.
So a lot of people have just kind of walked away from crypto.
So I don't know how many of those are actual people left.
But, yeah, I'm not sure what they're going to do. I mean, to be honest, the fact that you still had,
they had 5,500 people that actively made that move. Like they saw the vote from the Ape Society
dial. This is we're moving to base. This is the timeline. And if you want to come with us on this new adventure,
actively, you need to do these steps. The fact that you've got 5,500 people, 5,500 people
or apes to come across, that shows the strength in the ape society and the amount of people that
are still active, even through the bear market.
Yeah, they show up. It's one of the strongest points, in my opinion, about NFTs, right? And
why NFTs on base are such a great fit. With base's consumer-centric focus and really,
really heavily focused on bringing on new people to crypto and on chain,
an NFT project is the best place for people to land.
Because, for example, in our case, the three of us have been in crypto for many years,
but then we've got members who have also been in it for many years.
And then there's people that have been in it for a few months.
And it's just this like crazy knowledge base where you can come in.
If you don't know something, there's people of all professions, all skill levels, and all sorts of things.
You can just find out whatever you need to find out with information and better your life, per se.
That's what I love about NFTs.
There's always something for anybody.
It doesn't matter your skill set.
Once you join a tribe, that's how we grow.
We learn from others, and we can also help others.
And so that's the beautiful thing about being a part of a collective that can inspire.
And with an NFT collection itself, you get the added benefit of amazing artwork.
So, Congo, if you don't mind, we have about 3,500, 3,400 people tuning in.
Shout out to each and every one of you joining in.
If they've never heard much about the Ape Society, why don't you give us a brief rundown as to,
you know, what is the lore and what, you know,
inspired you for creating the collection?
Yeah, the three of us met many years ago,
trading meme coins and alt coins
and all sorts of good stuff and NFTs eventually.
And over time, like, just kept getting rugged
and getting into projects with huge promises and then realizing, like, look, the three of us are really smart together and we work really well together, like finding players or whatever it may be.
And so like we went, we could probably do this differently. And originally we chose Cardano. We thought that it would take off. Like there were a lot of promises, da, da, da, da, da.
And so we went over there and just in the end, it's nothing against them.
They have a great community over there, but it just didn't align with where we wanted to go.
And so we had been watching base since inception, like since before it even launched and watched it very closely.
And during this time, we built the number one project over there.
We had the number one lending tap over there for NFTs and tokens, all sorts of good stuff.
And we had created this essentially like a game, like an on-chain game.
This whole, this giant ecosystem was completely gamified and people loved it.
And we were watching bass at the
same time and we were looking to possibly we wanted to get involved with it like right from
the start and we started looking at uh for example incorporating our lending protocol with it but
eventually we just decided like look this they just align way more with our values and what
they want to accomplish and it just seems like just a much better fit.
And so here we are and zero regrets.
We're super, super excited to be here.
Like, look at the platform you guys have been given.
You guys are exceptional hoes.
And now they've given you the big stage,
which is what you deserve.
And they're doing everything they can to support people
that are building on their chain.
They're making insanely good hires.
You can see how consumer-focused they are.
They're making all these strategic hires.
It's the best place to be, in my opinion, in crypto at the moment.
And I think, first of all, I think you made the absolute right move coming on to base.
And you could just feel that energy. You have the community support. And I think you made the absolutely right move coming on to base. And you could just feel like that energy.
You have the community support.
You have – and I think it's unique.
You come from a perspective of you were building on another chain,
and you saw the ability of what base has in the future.
You've had that foresight.
So you give a good perspective as to, in my opinion as well,
why should builders choose base?
So I think that's really good. I want to get the other guys into this mix. Matassa and Carmen, how are you guys did that so i think that's really good i want to get the other guys into
this mix matassa and carmen how are you guys doing don't be shy i don't bite
sorry i forgot to mute uh how's it going yeah he's my mic he's my mic good i didn't bro you
have you have crystal clear bro you might you might you're putting me to shame i think your mic is better than mine bro really there's a meme in the in the apes community
that my mic like is the worst mic bro and they all so okay i hope this is recorded uh yeah they
know it's recorded mike oh man awesome awesome awesome how are you guys doing we're good man
we're good but uh no happy to have you on the show and i just wanted to also have you speak and so i guess with you let me ask you and then i want to
have base junkie run the rounds for you specifically you can wake up day in and day out and do anything
but you chose to work on the ape society with your fellow co-founders you know what inspires you to
wake up to make sure that like hey i'm dedicating my on-chain experience to making the Ape Society as big as possible?
I think, like, to be honest, I'm kind of addicted to build stuff.
It's because, like, we did a lot of things like past three years and we still are.
We're working in a couple of projects while delivering and like building it and delivering it and getting the response from the community.
And good thing like we're doing cool stuff and people react well.
It's an addictive feeling, right?
there's always something to do, right?
The three of us all have our
equal founders. We all, you know, all
sort of the same CEO, but all different skills.
So we all do different stuff.
So yeah, you just have to chip in, do your thing.
And at the end, the end result of what we build
is just great stuff that you can see.
Our latest was Vault, the landing protocol.
I mean, and you can see it by yourself.
It's a creation of our dedication.
Every day, this is our job, the three of us.
We trade on chain and we do crazy stuff,
like all the agents, but we build on the side as well.
So yeah, every day I log in, check the charts,
and do stuff for the Ape Society.
I could tell the passion.
I mean, I think everyone tuning in, almost 4,000 people have that passion.
Bates Young, I want to turn it to you.
You know, you told me when we first started our show, actually, in the beginning of January, I asked you specifically, yo, bro, like, what are your top two collections on base?
And I remember vividly you said one of
them was the ape society they didn't pay us anything then you just genuinely liked it let
me ask you as a collector you know what draws you into what the ape society is building
well to be honest um similar praise to how i was saying about you know from the founder right i
mean just just hearing from two two out of, the fact that they have this build, build, build ethic, build it, ship it, get it out there and add value.
This is a core ethos of the base builder mindset.
I mean, these guys, I remember when they were on Cardano and they were a big fish in a small pond and they had
uh this lending protocol they could have they could have literally coasted and rested in the
blue chip spot but these guys were one content with that they're like look base actually is more
of the builder's playground this alliance better with us we won't be top dogs there we'll have to
earn our seat at the table and then when they came they brought they brought gifts they're like hey guys we developed this that will be a fun
thing for everyone to use we're developers hope you have fun and i was like yo these guys it's
like they came to a party and they brought a crate of beer and i was like okay you know what i love
i love this you know this uh ethos of you know looking for challenges, keeping on building,
and the fact that they have such high engagement,
The Discord is super active.
And I remember, in fact, they were very courteous to me.
When I started my show, I think maybe I had like 200 followers at the time,
and I reached out to Kongo.
I'm like, hey, man, I love what you guys are doing. I are doing been the fan for a while do you want to come on the show and it wasn't a case of
like big time in me or anything and man they brought they brought like 400 they came in they
came in force i was like what the heck like literally blew me away and hearing hearing the
passion in in the the founders voices hearing the passion as they speak, and seeing that they keep on pushing and seeing the community show up, how can you not be bullish?
And I think that's just a testament to the team.
It all starts with the team.
I mean, just like even with base, it all starts with the base team.
Jesse's infectious energy trickles down.
Same thing with NFT projects. And I tell people on pretty much
every show, if you are a founder and you want to build something on base, you better be passionate.
You better show that you believe in this because if you don't believe in it,
then why should anyone else? And I think Ape Society is an exemplary aspect of how it's done.
They wake up day in and day out to showcase what they're proud of working on and people take note.
And I think the floor is almost a 0.275 that's that's incredible but before we wrap it up because
we do have to pass over thank you base god congo i want to give you the floor uh we have almost
4 000 oh we just hit over 4 000 viewers um the floor is yours my friend is there anything you'd
like to say regarding the ape society yeah i'll give a couple points and then i'm going to let cardman actually
finish because i think you wanted to give some alpha on your show yes we've got a bunch of
listeners uh from our community that are begging for that um check out volt.ag it's our lending
protocol uh that we've spent the last six months working on. It's a really great product. It's
basically an improvement over what we already built on another chain that was the number one
over there. So once it gets going, we're going to be adding new features and all that. We're
keeping it simple for now just to prevent feature dump because with Base, a lot of folks, it's their
first time trying DeFi. And this, in my opinion, is the perfect app for that.
So you can lend and borrow on your NFTs or your base tokens.
And it's usually like low caps, things like that, that you're not going to find on other lending protocols.
NFTs we released last week.
It's already getting excellent traction.
And so we're really excited about that.
And then I'll let Cardman finish it off while I lose my voice here.
Yeah, so that lending protocol is very exciting for us.
And thanks for having us on as I jump in here.
And the alpha that I want to drop is that the next thing that we're working on actively every day um is we are building an unchained game um i don't want to drop too
many details but we've had some gamified element in our previous um previous iterations of our
project previous previous times and people have a lot of had a lot of fun, you know, doing things like crafting
or doing things like stinging their apes in gamified ways.
But we're building a new game with a new IP.
We're going to be dropping some info on that soon
and how everybody can get involved.
So we're really looking forward to that.
Well, first of all, number one,
thank you for sharing Alpha.
It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
when we get those things.
But this Revolt lending protocol
looks extremely interesting.
And actually what we should do is,
I mean, we're out of time now,
but in the next few weeks,
like get you guys on Base Chunkie
thursday and let's just dive deep man because i think it's uh unique and needed um but yeah guys
thank you again for for coming on i mean uh man again i don't know how we're gonna top it but guys
check out the ape society let me uh got don't want to remove them from stage i think that like
was just such a good conversation.
I feel like we're taking them off stage
because I want to talk to them more, don't you, Bass Junkie?
When we have fire guests like that,
it's just like, I want more, more, more.
We're two for two with absolutely
what a great panel last week uh we had the mysticals
the safe souls and okay boomer and they all brought the heat as well so you know guys this
is just a you know message to all the nft communities out there if you want to you've
been building for a long time and you want to you know get in touch with us you know just slide
onto the dms and find out how you can come onto a future show.
But remember, there's two things we love on the show.
We love Alpha and we love giveaways.
And these guys have been bringing
the nonstop Alpha tonight.
And before we bring on, thank you, Base Scott,
I want to give a shout out to one of our guests
from last week, Save Souls,
They're celebrating their anniversary this Wednesday, I believe.
I believe it's the one-year anniversary.
It was like a few days ago.
They celebrated their two years.
On Wednesday, they have the two-year party.
If you guys aren't doing, please join that.
joining as well. We are also talking with Quigley shout out to Quigley. Uh, the base cartel will be
talking more about the stuff we're working on the Topey launch. Um, but before that, I'm going to
a hundred percent join captain, uh, in the save souls, uh, party. And that's just an exemplary
way building for two years. That is what i call being based so shout out to you
captain um and also just want to say shout out to rachel on chain we love rachel uh she's the best
i can't say enough about her proud to uh to call our friend business partner and everything all
between she uh brings the heat she's an amazing host amazing person i could probably talk about her all all day honestly and give her
flowers so i think we should i think we should bring up a project called thank you base god you
might have heard of them people out there might have heard of them what do you say base junkie
should we i i think i think let's go for three for three in terms of top tier rockstar guests and all right yeah all right number one
uh number one floor prize nft the ogs thank you base god disciple my friend i hope you're i hope
you're ready to be in the hot seat there were two amazing guests prior let's make it three for three
how are you doing today sir um i'm doing great um obviously there's a lot going on around the world
but there isn't a better time to be on base.
Everyone's locked in, focused, just doing whatever we can to control our destiny.
So happy to be here and chatting with you guys.
Yeah, we're happy to have you as well.
Obviously, you're one of the collections that a lot of people in the NFT community do know.
And that's a testament, obviously, to your floor price and the fact that you guys have established yourselves as a blue chip.
First of all, maybe there are, but there's over 4,000 plus people listening in.
So there are probably many who are new to the NFT space.
What exactly is a base god and what is the ethos behind the whole NFT collection?
What is the ethos behind the whole NFT collection?
So for anyone who's unfamiliar with the BaseGod project as a whole, it's a meme project.
There was a meme coin that was launched in December of 2023.
So we launched when it was like super quiet on base.
No one was really building here outside of Toshi, Mochi, a couple other folks in the meme community.
And when we launched, it was a totally fair launch.
There isn't really a team that is like behind it centrally organizing everything,
which means that we do everything decentralized.
So what's really cool about that is we're able to move a lot faster on different matters
and like ship a ton of products
and ideas and memes and just fun stuff. So if you go on our website, you can probably see all of the
different things that people have created that's sort of within our lore. And the whole concept of
the project is sort of doing a parody of religion, just having fun with the idea of worshiping a god of base who looks similar to someone that
you might be familiar with. And the idea of being bald and a couple other funny jokes that we've
made. But it's all in good fun. And the core ethos is just pushing base culture, making sure
that we're doing our part to represent base in its entirety really
well. And that's something that I think resonates a lot with people who hold the token as well as
people who hold the NFTs. So on the NFT front, we like a week after launching, there was someone in
the community that was like, hey, we should do an NFT collection. Fast forward a month on January
25th, which is Brian armstrong's birthday we launched
base gods uh and there's 809 which was a little hat tip to august 9th uh which is when mainnet
went live um there's 800 that are in the collection and then there's nine that are one of ones
uh and so all of the one of ones if you go down a little bit on the website uh you'll see that
there's sort of like a story that goes along with them uh which is really really cool um and that mirrors um somebody's
personal life story and growth and career trajectory so anyway you can read through that
on your own time um but yeah you know we uh over the past year have just been building good vibes
good energy i guess uh everyone at this point like everyone who's in base memes
uh is probably familiar with with our project and uh it's been a really cool journey just to
see how it's taken off because again we never had like a treasury we never had a team or some sort
of like council running point uh it's literally just like homegrown organic base building uh at its finest so uh really really
cool to just see how far we've come yeah and as statuette shout out to you statuette as statuette
says big b is risen fire sign emoji i love it and i love the one cool thing about like community
growth and building is the cool thing about your projects is when people are tweeting and something
they all just end thing tybg thank you base god like you can send a great tweet tybg i think that's very clever i actually
didn't realize that you guys had 809 because base two of them got burnt um and that was like
there's there's sort of like a story behind the the two that got burnt um but it was basically there's a trait where uh the the base god has hair and that's like
the ultimate sin um and so uh it's sort of blasphemy to like even have hair depicted on
our god um so one of those got burnt uh it got sent to the burn address never going to come back
it's kind of like it got sent to hell but yeah you know it's like uh the whole thing uh has been super fun tybg for anyone who
doesn't know is actually a homage to lil b the based god who is one of my favorite rappers of
all time i think one of the most influential people in not just rap culture but internet
culture as well and anyone who says based like the word based, that's something that you can really just like credit
to him. And that was like 15 years ago, he was really, really popular. And I think people don't
even know like how influential he was. And so one of the things I wanted to do with this project,
because I saw everyone saying, based, based, based, like all across crypto, all across base,
I wanted to make sure that there was like a little bit of a a nod to his like the origin of it um and he's someone that i i always found super influential so
very cool base chunk i want to turn to you now obviously you are the resident nft guy
expert and you know things better than most so i want your opinion first of all what is
like there's no denying they think you base gods the
blue chip on base i mean they've established themselves what do you think in your mind is
the reason they have remained so successful um over over the year or so is it because
the art is fire i think it is is it the culture the community like talk to us, what resonates with you in this collection?
Well, I mean, to be honest, I have some thoughts, but I would love to hear straight from a disciple's mouth, because that's exactly the question that I would love to ask him and, you
know, to give advice to anybody who's starting in NFTs. How do you build that culture how do you build that community and you know anyone
you know how do you take it to to the promised land yeah i think like especially on days like
today and just times like now in the market um it's a good reminder of um what you need to think
about when you're starting a project um for me i've been been in crypto since really like 2017 was my first cycle, you could
say. But I got more into it after the pandemic. And I was always into memes over the past four
years. It's just been something that really spoke to me. And NFTs I wasn't too familiar with last
cycle, but I've obviously come to grow experience in that area. And the one thing that I always
told myself was like, I never wanted to launch a project unless I really, really believed
in it and felt like I was going to be able to do it until the wheels fall off. I think people
underestimate like, you know, you get all excited, you launch a project, you get some hype around,
you know, day one, week one, month one, whatever.
But things change fast in crypto and like you're not always going to have the spotlight on you.
And you just kind of have to be comfortable with that, number one.
Number two, the blockchain is forever, right?
So if you launch something, you have to nurture it.
You have to, you know, want to grow it.
and people can sense whether or not you actually believe in what you're doing.
And people can sense whether or not you actually believe in what you're doing.
I think that's something that people in our community saw from me early on,
and it became contagious because we had a really unique approach to the way that we built,
which was around really ethics, doing things the right way,
things that resonated with the base team and the broader base community as well.
things that resonated with the base team and the broader base community as well.
And here we are now where it's less about the artwork,
which some people might like the artwork or they might hate the artwork.
It doesn't really matter.
The bottom line is there's something bigger that's going on with the collection
as far as when you see a base god in the wild or when you're in our community chat
it just feels like you're a part of like the true essence of base and a very unique culture that
you're not going to find on solana or no offense to them but like you're not going to find on
solana or another chain it's like very very base ethos and so i would say just like having
determination picking out what culture you want in your community and actually exhibiting those traits yourself and projecting that onto the people that are your early adopters so that they can then carry the torch and continue to spread those good vibes.
Like that's super, super important. You need evangelists and people who are just like diehard early on. Otherwise, you're probably not going to succeed.
people who are just like die hard early on otherwise you're probably not going to succeed
um and yeah you just got to stick with it i mean we're over a year into this uh and at this point
it's like you know we're not we're not going to just fizzle into into nothingness um and you kind
of get get to this like lindy effect as they call it where the longer you stick around the longer
you're going to continue to stick around and so yeah like I said the
blockchain is forever I didn't want to launch something unless I truly believed that it was
like a project that I would participate in literally every day for however long um and so
yeah I mean it's it's been really really cool to just see like how sticky we've become regardless
of all the crazy market stuff that goes on amazing man and i again i want
to give you a shout out i know how base junkie was um talking about ape society giving them a chance
when he wasn't maybe as big i never really told you much maybe i have once or twice but you came
on the podcast as well and i wasn't big back then i was just you know guy would like to talk and
create a podcast and yet you chose you, you weren't like a big
ego. You're like, yeah, let's try to shut it up. And that's, uh, you know, uh, stuck with me ever
since. So I do appreciate you because you didn't have to do that, but that is the true base ethos
way where builders help builders who have loyal attention. So thank you. Um, we do have to wrap
it up with you, but again, want to give you the floor. Any last words, my friend, for the BaseGod community? Yeah, we have one of the things that we try not to do is like hints and teasers.
And it's very hard to get alpha in BaseGod, which is both a it's a blessing and a curse.
I think, you know, a lot of people are conditioned to like get a roadmap.
And, you know, you you want to hear what like a team has planned or how it's
going to pump your bags or whatever and like we just have never done that um for a variety of
reasons uh but the the few things that i can say that are on the lookout and have already been
announced one is uh the desk toys and bobbleheads um that we i think like two months ago, there was a post that went up about those.
Those are in production. They're going to be free for all holders while supplies last.
I think there's like 200 that are supposed to be made. And so we'll have some more details.
There's two people in the community that are making that happen, which is, again, really cool
to see. We don't have a team.
We just have people who, like, raise their hand to build a 3D model of Base God and then
get it printed and shipped.
And, like, I mean, you can ask for, like, better collaboration on base.
So that's one thing that should be coming soon.
And then the second is MemeCon in Lisbon.
We had a disciple in the community who is uh going to be representing
us there and who was able to um get us listed as a sponsor uh that's the first week of june
um i think there's a couple other base memes that are going to be there um but yeah you know if
anyone's attending uh feel free to reach out and maybe we can uh work on like a cool activation or
something fun there just uh i don't know giveaways anything that you have in mind hey shonky i mean lisbon yeah it's down the road for me so
nice all right so you guys get you guys gotta chop it up uh yeah that's there but that's super
cool so disciple we're gonna hop you off the stage but we'll get all you guys back on. So thank you, my friend, for coming on the show.
Now that we had Thank You, Bass God on,
I think it's time for us to give a little alpha too
because the biggest holder of the Thank You, Bass Gods
is Malfusaurus, and he has his Bass Media X.
Here's a little alpha in case you guys don't know.
Let's get a little segue.
Bass Young and myself are behind the project the topis 8808 base builders uh united spread positivity across the
base ecosystem and beyond well the alpha for you guys is we're gonna be launching on base media x
their first ever collection let's go pretty exciting yeah honestly it's been i mean this connection has been a long long time coming uh
very excited for the topi you know as as many of the builders who've joined us today have said i've
shown you the the the hunger to keep building and supporting others here that is our mission
and that is my mission that is bill's mission to uplift the entire base nft ecosystem through
that is bill's mission to uplift the entire base nft ecosystem through uh starting the non-functional
alliance and uh spearheading that with the topi and topi support topis and topi support builders
absolutely and i'm excited to have mophosaurus on he is a key staple of the base nft ecosystem he's
the biggest holder pretty much every project out there so to align ourselves with that like with
someone as bases that is a big deal so i want want to give a shout out to Mephosaurus, Bass Media X.
And like I said, he is the biggest holder of the bass gods and a huge supporter of art and culture on bass.
So we wanted to share that.
So now, guys, I think it's time for a community group and group session.
Let's just get everybody on.
Let's just get everybody in Toki.
I was such a good session.
I was so engaged the whole time.
Can't believe like all the great insights shared by everyone here.
It's already been an hour.
It can go on for another hour or two.
I have a job still. Yes. A non-paying job let's go to be honest what was what scares me like after episode one we're like oh man do we peak too soon like we had such amazing guests like
so much alpha and then and then like this week we brought the big guns but i don't know what we're gonna do next
week yeah i i don't know either again i i'm sure we'll have to figure it out later in midweek we
gotta figure out just know if you're a base builder in the space an nft project maybe an
artist it doesn't matter and you want to be on the show please let us know it's free we just want to
expand the base ecosystem but you're gonna have to bring your A game because these individuals did.
So let's just open up for a brief Q&A because I want to kind of get everyone's thoughts.
Whoever wants to jump in.
Just before you do, I see Congo's not on the stage.
Is he hanging out in the backstage?
I think you have to leave.
It sounded like he was dying.
Yeah, yeah. But let's just get everyone's opinion because it's important. I don't see him. I think he had to leave. It sounded like he was dying.
But let's just get everyone's opinion because it's important.
What do you guys think is going to be the catalyst to get a base NFT season?
Do you guys also believe, because I'm of the belief,
there's going to be a base NFT season like there was in ETH.
But I'm curious to know your guys' thoughts.
Do you think that similar traction will occur on base and if so what do you think
will lead the way i think it's already here i think personally it's already here i think it's
happening um with all the migration that we're seeing right we're seeing all these different
chains migrate and i mean look at look at who you've had on the first two shows two major groups
that are migrating um and we know there's more coming,
which is Toro and his team
who had the pocket cows on layer one.
And they're coming over into base specifically
with this brand new Foul Play NFT and world.
And many of you may have been seeing
some random stuff across the timelines on that.
And I just, I feel like that we,
too much speculating on when this, when that, pun intended, that we don't realize we're already
there and we're living in it. So what we need to do is take what we have and amplify that.
Does that make sense? Yeah, it does. And do you think, what about you guys from,
you know, Ape Society or Base Guys? You guys also think that, I mean, I know for sure that the energy is there.
Do you think, and it's not about prices, but do you think, like, what do you think would
take other people off-chain collectors to come onto base?
Do you think it's just number goes up or do you think they need to see something different?
Like, what would your guys take for you?
Personally, like, I think, you know, obviously number go up always helps
like anything in life ever. But I think like the more that we have sessions like this and
more collaboration. And I mean, I've been on a couple of these calls over the last few months,
which is really, really cool to see. Like people just need to, and even the fact that we're on the build on base account right now,
people just need to see that there's a concerted effort and like a,
we're all in this together type of vibe where we're trying to make this happen
and elevate different projects and give people spotlight.
All of that, I think entices both builders to come to base obviously but then also you know with that
people are going to be interested in participating in these communities too so I think that the the
more you know people who've been around continue to stick around and participate and throw their
hat in the ring and say hey I want to want to talk to this person, that person, collaborate.
I think that's really helpful too.
What do you think, Bass Junkie?
Yeah, I think in part it's due to organizing,
organizing events like this, uplifting each other,
and just collectively raising the awareness.
I think the fact that the base team is supporting builders
and giving us this platform to help raise the profile
of other people that are working day in, day out.
This is a great way that we can let people on-chain know.
But then also, I think think like ip you know reach reaching
um reaching the masses uh the fact that like base has the best onboarding mechanisms and that the
builders are building you know user-friendly um tools i think this is a great way to so that
people can onboard through coinbase and not just go off to to defy on
different chains but actually realize you know base is is a welcoming place and by being organized
we can pull up a front and say like hey guys look this is this is what everything that base has to
offer yeah yeah and i i proofs in the pudding, like I said, base, being on this account, we've had currently 5,100 people tuning in, almost 5,200.
Typically, that's not the case.
So that clearly shows with the base leadership, just by allowing the community to operate.
They're not doing anything else.
I'm giving a platform that they want builders to succeed.
And it's truly a community-run thing.
So talking to the base team enough, can't be understated how much it,
is behind you and really appreciates everything you guys are doing.
So I don't think we have any more questions out here.
So we're going to give talk at the last minute for the stage,
base God and the ape society and shows truly amazing time to have you guys
each and every one of you and stick around in our chat any sort of things that you need amplified
we want to help uh forever because you took a chance to come on this show we will be supporting
you the rest of the way so thank you all thanks guys thank guys. It was awesome. Really good job. Thank you.
So we'll get them on and off.
And then we will have the final words from Taki.
I still am not going to get fired.
But yes, Taki, the floor is yours, my friend.
Yeah, huge shout out to Waylon Bass and Bass Shockey for having some amazing session.
It was like super fun diving into the world of Bass NFTs with all of you such great insights from the three presenters who spent
time with us today and also to the audience who came in hung out and spent time as well
if you're building on base yeah we definitely love to connect reach out if you'd like to help host
these community-led virtual events or present at a future one or planning to keep on scaling them up
and getting more projects in the spotlight these are are 100% community led and community focused so if there's anything that we can do to help,
please feel free to reach out. I'll drop some info in the live chat as well on how we can stay
connected with us and also the projects who presented. Reach out on X, hop into the base
discord and check out our upcoming virtual events on luma and also this broadcast
will be preserved on the build on base account if you miss anything so tune in and check out
if you came in late um now that's all for me keep pushing boundaries keep creating and we'll catch
you at the next base virtual event hope that everyone has a good rest of your monday and the
rest of the week as well thank you talking yeah i um i'm stoked i'm stoked for
what the future holds in the base nft ecosystem the fact that it's a bloody monday everyone's
losing their minds but yet we had over 5200 live uh just shows a testament of you know we're in
the right chain right sector stay base stay building appreciate each and every one of you
let's do it again on monday what do you say base base junkie? You down again? Let's run it. Let's run round three next Monday.
Round three it is. So again, guys, if you are a builder or you're just an individual artist,
if you're base, hit us up, hit base junkie or myself up and we'll see, you know, we'll try
to get you on the show because we want to amplify all the base builders on this chain.
So yeah, Taki, I appreciate you.
I'm going to let you end it because I don't have the ability to do so.
And thank you, everyone, who came with us today.
I hope everyone has a good day.
