and the collaboration with Fenwick West
to support their vision as well
uh again if you guys are wondering what I'm talking about

dropped January 11th, 2024
for the products and the tread
you know covering pretty much all the details
it's actually pinned up above
from none other than WhisWang herself
everybody in the room to kind of get a grasp of this
one of the main questions that I kind of wanted to you know
start a conversation off with
a little bit about the origin
to that collaboration eventually
this partnership specifically
it's something that you don't really see
you know like a lot of people talking about on social media
but also I was really curious about the origin
like before we actually start talking about this recent drop
what's kind of the origin of the partnership itself
so around the origin of the partnership
it came about because Z was introduced by a mutual connection
to one of the executives at IPX
so for those of us who aren't familiar
IPX is the global creative studio
it's an extremely popular
cast of ensemble characters
that comes from the Line Messaging app
which is like WhatsApp but the main messaging app
and what I think is really interesting
is that they launch Line Friends as stickers
to be able to help people communicate better
because at the time it was very difficult to send photos
in a lot of different Asian countries
they have what you call a high context culture
where you require a lot of nuance in how you communicate
so the stickers were able
were the differentiator for the app
and actually from the time they launched the stickers
with the Line Messaging app
I think they got like a million users
something astonishing like that
I actually learned that from the CEO of IPX
during a dinner that I had with him
when we were in Seoul for a business trip
but to answer your question
on why this partnership is really exciting
with Line Friends they've been able to broker partnerships
and do super interesting things
over the last ten years or so
so they've worked with McDonald's
they've worked with Starbucks
they have a Netflix series
and I think the most bullish thing out of all of this
is that they see so much potential in the Beans brand
and they're invested in growing the Beans brand
as one of their global IPs
so that's the thing that I think is most exciting
about this entire partnership
Now Wiz, that's amazing really I love this
and something that I was really curious
I feel like we've talked about this multiple times
not only like with you in the stage
but also like as a community
which is the potential of the Beans IP itself
and I actually wanted to ask
from your personal perspective
how is it that we measure success
the partnership, the product launch
because I've seen multiple times
people arguing about multiple projects
oh yeah the IP has a lot of potential
we see this, this, and that
but I was wondering at least from your personal opinion
how is it that we measure success
For me, the measurement of success
so as we all know in Web3
and for me the real measure of success
is bringing in that next generation of people
and for me I believe they will come
just because they love the products
that we and other NFT projects have made

I feel like you gotta cater to that community
but if you're not making efforts
for each particular project
I feel like you're setting yourself short
you can actually go beyond that
Beans as a whole they've been doing

behind this one specifically

my meeting minutes from my first ever meeting with IPX
when I was talking about what our goals were

from what I originally envisioned like a year ago
so the first goal that I put down
was to cultivate and expand brand awareness and loyalty
and demonstrating the mainstream appeal of Beans
the second thing was to expand TopofFunnel
by leveraging IPX's network
to forge partnerships with top companies
and then the third was to
showcase Beans IP alongside Global IP
that IPX has developed in-house
such as Brown from The Line Friends
you heard it from the goal herself
you know shout out to Wiz for keeping it ass
straight to the point as possible
I actually love this Wiz because I don't think I had
you know her like straight from the source like that
probably anybody in any project so that's actually why
you know formation straight from the source

especially I think Korea is where one of these places are
and also something related to like the actual process
like a behind the scenes thing maybe people aren't aware of
sure you said that you're relatively new to the garden right

great to see you as co-host leveling up truly
so a little bit of background in terms of this partnership itself
so IPX is a South Korean company
they're part of the line messaging app ecosystem
so over the course of the past year
I think between myself and my teammates
I think we've been to South Korea like four or five times
just to make this partnership happen
and you know a little bit of a spoiler alert
we'll probably be going to South Korea again soon
to chat through a second drop and you know other things
that are going to emerge from the partnership
based on the performance of how this first drop has gone
so first of all big shout out to you guys for supporting
you know the beans community is just different
I mean you guys are amazing I've seen all the posts
you guys are incredibly supportive
and this would not be possible without the beans community
you know when we're talking to IPX about working together
we were talking about you know Azuki potentially and beans
and Bobu all the different IP
and for me beans just holds a special place in my heart
it's just such a unique community
I think people can come in as their genuine selves
it's a little bit unhinged let's be real
I saw Lello's post with Az's beans with the flute in the butt
I will definitely be including in a recap to IPX
but you know beans are just different
and for me I've always been such a big advocate of the beans
and chatting with all of these different partner companies
Line Friends totally gets it of course
because their bread and butter is literally cute IP
what we've seen in Asia as well is that
there's a huge reception to the beans
there are a lot of people actually
who are just Line Friends fans who have gone to the Gangnam store
they're like what is this
and literally tens of thousands in foot traffic
just organically encountering these
these incredibly die-hard Line Friends fans
so you know it's really really cool
to be able to accomplish all of this with our first drop
in terms of the behind the scenes
there is a lot of back and forth
I had mentioned this on the espresso shot yesterday
I think sometimes in the NFT world
since we're used to operating
you know with digital products and NFTs
and you know digital art and things like that
I think that it's a little bit hard to understand
the scale of manufacturing and logistics
that's needed actually to ship a launch like this
we have fans all over the world who are ordering these products
you know getting them into your hands quickly is one thing
making the products and you know
just going through the entire sampling process
you know testing different materials
it was a real joy to work with the IPX team
they really really are best in class
with the things that they do
they have so much attention to detail
you know it's funny I was chatting with them
about the creation of the PBT toy
and actually a really big manufacturing challenge
was the implementation of the PBT
because you have to have it
you know you want it to be under a surface
but you also need whatever it's under to be thin enough
and also needs to ideally be on a flat surface to scan
so there's a lot of you know trial and error
when it came to the PBT toy
but we think you guys will be really happy with it
it's been a real labor of love
and you know a lot of learnings for IPX as well
in terms of incorporating the web3 element
which we were super adamant on having
so yeah I'm happy to dive deeper
into anything that you guys think
would be interesting to learn about
and hopefully that provided a little bit of behind the scenes
you know of how all of this came about
we do have some hands up in the audience

just being that you've been there four to five times now
what has been like the most memorable experience
one that you were like yeah I absolutely have to come back here again
you know the team that I've been working with at IPX
the main people I've been working with

and I think that they really helped demystify
I don't know if I've ever actually mentioned this on spaces
but a lot of the IPX team actually only speaks Korean
neither does Cheryl who's in the spaces right now
who's our wonderful growth manager
who worked alongside with me with this drop
and without her this wouldn't be possible either
so Ryan and Simon I think were amazing partners
they were dealing with you know the huge time zone
between the United States and South Korea
you know we have calls at least twice a week
they were the ones internally
you know working with the product team
and the retail team and the marketing team
to make all of this happen
you know going back and forth with their management
there's like literally hundreds of steps that
go between you know coming together
and deciding you want to partner with a company
and then you know designing
what like the concept is for the first drop
to actually getting the first drop into the hands of our fans
so I'm really proud of what we've accomplished here
I know that some of you guys have already started to receive
your templars and keychains
and you know I love seeing that on the timeline

something I've been really inspired
just the overall development of beans IP
Japan right there needs to be
something that gives the IP
there needs to be something that's like a little
so um if you guys are familiar
with line friends and actually
quite a lot of Japanese IP as well
that's called something like
the reason why that really takes
off is because if something is just like
perfectly cute it's kind of vanilla
you know it's kind of boring
approach the beans IP the way
we think about J and Jelly we
want to give them personality they're not

is what makes them relatable

late last year I had said
on my sub stack that we're exploring
kind of short form animation
that we'd like to release via YouTube
to be able to expand the story of beans
a bit more just because through
Instagram and TikTok a lot of the content
is you know going off of trending
audios or you know trending memes
and so on and so forth I think that's really good
for growth but it's not good for
really building a brand because then
it's like who are the characters
short form animation that
really expands upon the story of the beans
will help with the retention of people
who come into our ecosystem because
they you know they liked and
they liked in Instagram reels that their friend shared with them
or they stumbled upon a TikTok
so yeah that's currently in development as well
just checking up with you brother does

yeah that's a great idea I've been integrating
probably too late to do now
since they're in production but
you know obviously future
tie up and the elementals as well
for sure I mean I think the three
collections all work together
or can work together as well as being
would love to see it for sure
absolutely man I appreciate that

social media aspect to beams
which has been you know helping
so much kind of spread the word

much would you say that that social
media presence was a factor
into locking partnerships
such as the IPX one because
we see so many other projects trying to
follow the same route so I was wondering
if done the right way just like
beings have been doing for such you know
quite some period of time
to get at but I hope that made sense
sense what I'll say is that when we
were in discussions to do a partnership
this growth that you've seen
it's literally been from zero
to a hundred thousand on TikTok
in less than a year probably just the span
zero to four hundred thousand
you know to answer your question if you're pitching
a new partner I definitely think that
but you need to have more
than just that I think a big
factor to be honest with IPX
is that they knew how strong the
community was and that's what
are the backbone of a lot
of what we do and I think all
of your unique personalities
really combine to create this
colorful and dynamic mosaic
