Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Hello, Unstoppable team.
Stoppable team. Hello world. This is Josh
Hello, world.
This is Josh.
GM, how are you Jack? I think Sandy's trying to get on stage. I see her. I just don't see her actually connected
To the space Peace. Okay, let's try this again.
Can you guys hear me now?
Hello, hello, hello.
And Josh, I think I heard you on here too.
Yes. Hey there, Sandy. Hey, everyone.
Hello, hello. And hey, Greg, whenever I try to hit the co-host, what ends up happening
is it takes me out of being a speaker totally. So I'm just going to stay as a speaker. Is that
okay with you? Yeah, that's fine. Okay. Now for me, you guys are echoing.
Can you guys hear me echoing too?
You sound fine to me.
Okay. Okay. Okie dokie.
Are we waiting for one other person, Josh?
Gerard Dashe from GBA, I think, is joining us.
So, oh, here he is. Speak of the genius.
There we go. Okay, awesome.
Gerard, can you hear us? Can you speak?
I can hear you bodaciously well.
Okay, there you go. And you are live too.
Okay, let's go ahead and get started because I know we only have like a 30-minute slot.
We've got lots of stuff to talk about.
My name is Sandy Carter. I am Unstoppable's
Chief Business Officer. And I am so excited to talk to you today about the Civic Collection,
which is a set of premium domains aimed at the government for the Global Blockchain Association.
I'm sorry, the Government Blockchain Association, and then several podcasts in honor
of Edge Of as well. So I wanted to make sure that you guys knew that there is a pinned tweet at the
top. If you're interested in grabbing any of those as we're speaking today, you can do that.
So now let's go and talk a little bit, Josh, for you. Why don't you tell us about the Edge of, and then Jared, I'm going to come over to you and talk about the Government Blockchain Association.
Well, thank you all for joining, and thank you, Sandy and the Soppo team, for hosting this and being part of our very special event coming up.
I know we'll get into those details a little bit later.
The Edge of company is a global media ecosystem.
It started as a podcast where our focus back in 2021 was NFTs, which we still love.
And it evolved over time to cover the whole gambit of the industry, including AI and gaming, everything from DeFi to real-world assets.
And we've done over 35 events for about 10,000 people.
We do some advisory work.
And then we have our podcast, which is now a live stream TV show and featured on probably 10, 15 different distribution channels and also in over 50
countries.
So I'm really excited to continue our collaboration and partnership.
It's been great over the years and I'm really excited about our partnership with the Government
Blockchain Association to put on an epic event on Capitol Hill next month,
which you guys are also part of.
And I'll turn over to Gerard
to give a little bit of the backstory 411 on GBA.
Thanks, Josh.
By the way, Josh is my hero in the media space.
I've just learned a tremendous amount from him
and he knows what he's doing about getting the word out.
Is it just because he's on TV now, Jared? Is that what it is? Yeah, he's, you know, I thought I knew a lot,
but having an opportunity to watch him in action, it's just been really great. So anyway,
my name is Gerard Deshaies. I am the founder and executive director of the Government Blockchain
Association. My background is I've been in and around government for many,
many years, spent some time in the military. I had an opportunity to see and be involved,
not be involved with, but be impacted by some corruption at very high levels. I then found
out a little bit about Bitcoin and blockchain. And then I said, Hark, this is something that could really, uh, benefit, uh, government. Um, and, uh, yeah, so I, I've had an opportunity to travel
all around the world. I'm a former army infantry and intelligence, uh, professional. And, uh,
at one point I was invited by the Chinese government to go and evaluate, uh, Chinese
defense technologies. Uh, and I said, you do know I'm a former United States military intelligence professional.
I said, no, we know that about you.
We actually know quite a bit about you.
I said, well, that's comforting.
But they said, we have it on good account that you can't be bribed.
And so they liked me for that until I, unfortunately, uncovered some more corruption.
And then they didn't like that anymore.
So at one point, I didn't know whether I'd get out of China alive
because I had detected some things that were not wanting to be detected.
Anyway, I came back to the States.
I made it through that and decided to start this,
what became the Government Blockchain Association.
It was a meetup in 2016.
In 2017, it became a full-blown thing.
Today, we have members that work in 500 government offices around the world.
We have 50 different working groups.
We have thousands of members.
These are people in government that are pro-blockchain, pro-digital asset,
pro-cryptocurrencies that have budgets and requirements.
And our goal is to help people
in the private sector connect with people in government to use blockchain and emerging
technologies to solve public sector problems. We were then invited to lead a group at the United
Nations Internet Governance Forum, Dynamic Coalition on Blockchain Assurance and Standardization.
And today, our mission is really to help people in the private sector implement blockchain solutions in a way that helps both citizens and the governments.
Very cool. I love the fact that you guys are doing this public-private partnership, too.
I think that's really strong, especially around this blockchain area.
And I noticed as well on your website, you also talked about AI.
And I think blockchain and AI really go together. They're like two powerhouses that really help each
other as well, Jared. Yeah. Well, the thing about AI that people are worried about, one of the
things is that they can't trust the AI, right? With hallucinations, you don't know where the
training data is and the training models. And you don't want to share that stuff.
One of the things that blockchain does is it allows us to secure the data and the models in AI so we can trust it.
The problem right now with AI is it can't be trusted.
Great, huge potential.
But we're working with people to develop standards and actually perform assessments.
And one of the guys that we're working with actually
is one of the inventors of blockchain.
Oh, wow, that's super cool.
Well, guys, I know you, Jared and Josh,
you guys approached us about doing this,
you know, civic launch to launch a set of civic domains
and also some podcasts.
Can you guys talk for a little bit about, you know,
why you thought that was a good idea and, you know, kind of what kind of things do you want
to encourage people out there to look for as they're looking at these premium domains?
Josh, want to go first?
I've never heard Josh speechless. I guess I may have speechless. This is crazy.
I'll go ahead and get started. I may be having some mic issues.
So a lot of the folks that we work with are in the public domain already, right? So we work with a lot of local governments.
There's a lot of counties. There's a lot of counties there's a lot of associations right and and a lot of private sector business and they're trying to
figure out how how to get credibility right the problem with with government and blockchain up
until the recent administration is they were convinced that anybody doing blockchain was
drug dealers you know human traffickers or money laundersers, right? And so a lot of people are trying to get
credibility. One of the great ways about credibility is essentially getting known,
right? Having a web presence, right? Having a credible image. And I think that these domains
just really do a great job of demonstrating people's seriousness about really honoring civic responsibilities.
Yeah. And I think, you know, as you look at some of these domains, I think they're, you know,
they're, in my mind, super interesting, you know, to talk about, to look at, and to potentially buy as well, because many of them represent things
that we believe in, like vote.polygon or civ for civic.crypto.
Some of these are really rare domains that really fit the mission that we have.
We even have vote.hub, which I think is also interesting because you you know, you can have a hub of voters,
a hub of law, hub of whatever. I think that's quite interesting too. Some of the domains that
are out there are fascinating. Yeah. Especially when you think about organizations like decentralized
autonomous organizations, right? They all are dependent on some kind of voting consensus,
they all are dependent on some kind of voting consensus, right,
way of doing stuff.
And I would say in the election process, right,
voting, public sector voting, especially the U.S. government,
is having a really, really hard time, again, because people don't trust it, right?
And having a web presence, right,
where you can demonstrate your commitment to voting in elections.
I think not just voting, but, you know, there's land titling, right?
There's resource managers.
There's so many different public sector applications for blockchain that healthcare, as an example, clinical trials, right?
that healthcare as an example, clinical trials, right?
There's so many that I think we need to do a better job of letting people in
government know that you can use blockchain for civic, for civic uses.
Absolutely. Yeah. Oh gosh, you're back. Awesome.
I am back. It's raining here in DC.
Apparently that impacts the internet connection at my current spot.
But yeah, I echo everything Gerard has said and definitely excited about this collection.
You know, some of you might know that Unstoppable Domains and Edge Company shares a really special
collection of domains around .podcasts.
So I just think it's super cool.
We found some special domains within that cluster that are a good fit for this premium
domain campaign that we're doing.
And I think, you know, I'm a little biased, but to me, those are some really rare domains.
We're looking at a world where there's almost 4 million podcasts globally.
So owning some of these top four letter and short domains on product podcasts could be really valuable one day.
And just to sort of expand the conversation, at the end of the day, Sandy, I remember our first interview together and finding out your background, having worked at Amazon and coming into this space and sharing our passion for this integration of, you know, real business concepts and enterprise use cases for blockchain with the
government has just, it's been really exciting because it sort of brings all my past experiences
together. In a former life, I did government consulting. I worked with 18 different federal
agencies and I worked on some open government initiatives and blockchain opens government.
I worked on some open government initiatives and blockchain opens government.
You know, it provides transparency.
It provides verification.
There's so many pure use cases for blockchain in the government sector that I think were
cast aside because maybe they don't make tokens go up and down really fast, but fundamentally they use the
technology in profound ways. Completely agree. And I was just looking, we've already sold 14.
So 40% of the collection is already gone. We just opened up yesterday. So that's what like 24 hours,
40% of the collective is gone. But I was looking, Josh,
news.podcast still out there. Buzz.podcast still out there.
Chat.podcast. Show.podcast. I mean, you and I were talking
about the potential of just podcasts. I mean, those are some
really good ones, I think.
Josh Leffler Yeah, I am shocked that those are still out there. I might have to pick up one
of those myself. I was just going, oh, that would be a really good one. That would be a good one.
And I love all the vote, the vote ones and the civic and the law on the on the civic side. We
just don't have that many left. only have 23 um domains left so if you
are interested in grabbing one of these definitely do it now at the end of the show i know we talk we
always for two or three questions i'll give away um some free domains we just announced dot well
actually let's give away we'll give away a couple of podcasts today since josh is on the call with
us so for questions and I think Josh, you also
wanted to do another giveaway, right? Yeah, well, you're the giveaway queen, so you can come up with
some ideas here. But, but I want, you know, Jordan and I have put a lot of heart along with our teams
into creating what I would consider one of the most special events of the year,
which is the future of governance, money, money, government in the law conference.
It's going to be actually on Capitol Hill with a really special gala on October 29th.
It's a 20th style gala.
And we're going to be playing a game called cryptopoly which
will be really fun and people can win really incredible prizes um sandy will be there as a
speaker and um with her book it's going to be great so i want to give two tickets away to the
gala that actually includes um access to the daytime event where we're going to have Congress people,
we're going to have leaders in the industry, we have folks from everyone from Grayscale to
Coinbase, and you'll get access to this very special event, which has very limited seating
at the U.S. Capitol. Wow, that's crazy. I only want people to
participate in this campaign, Sandy, that actually are willing to come to D.C. and
you know, this does not include transportation or staying at the Ritz-Carlton, but it does get you
in the door of Gala and the value of the ticket is 275 dollars it does get you access
to the capital so dc is beautiful that time of year um i was in dc for 10 years and now i'm back
and um i will personally give you some tips on what to do while you're in dc but uh you do have
to get over there so um sandy if you have an idea on how to do this creative campaign with this audience,
I'm totally open-minded, but we have two tickets up for grabs. That's a $500 value.
Wow. That's awesome. Okay. So when you guys ask your questions, if you think you're going to be
in DC, Washington, DC, or you want to make your way there, or you already live there,
you can choose one of those tickets or you can choose a dot podcast domain, whatever fits for you the most for asking a question at
the end. So tell us a little bit about the event itself. I know you've got some amazing speakers
that are coming. Why don't you give me, Jared, a couple of highlights of the government speakers
that you have coming and then Josh, maybe some of the non-government kind of private partnership folks that are also beyond the
states. Jared, I'll start with you first. Sure. Well, we obviously have a bunch of
congressmen coming. So congressmen people are going to talk about policy and stuff like that.
But we also have people from other countries. We've got folks from the British House of Commons.
other countries. We've got folks from the British House of Commons. They're bringing a whole
delegation. We've got people from the United Nations and different European and German. So
it's really going to, for one thing, blockchain is really global. So we're going to have
government people from literally all over the world and not just congressional stuff,
but we'll have administration folks so
kyle hautman will be there kyle hautman has regulatory authority over every single
um credit union in the country so if you're building fintech systems and you want to interact
with financial institutions um and also local and state so amelia powers gardner will be there she
put the first u.s presidential election on blockchain. She's put vital records on a blockchain. So we're going to have, and I'll let
Josh talk about some of the private sector folks, but we're going to have government people. One of
the guys that will be there will be Dino Cataldo de Lacio. He's the chief information officer of
the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund, a $90 billion fund.
He built the first identity management solution for a blockchain solution for the UN.
He also just got promoted to Deputy Secretary General of the UN.
And I got to tell you something about the folks that show up at our events.
They're very approachable.
Dino is one of the nicest guys in the world.
He'll sit there and talk with you for plenty of time, and he's just a great guy. So the folks are going to be very influential.
They'll be the kinds of people that you can talk to and make deals with, at least in a
scheduled follow-up meeting.
So they're not just aloof, come in, speak, and leave.
They're really the kinds of people that you want to engage with and develop relationships with. But I'll let Josh maybe talk a little bit about some of the private
sector folks. Yeah. So it's a great lineup and you can go to gbaglobal.org slash FOMGL to see the
whole list. But just to highlight a few folks, we have Yat Su giving a keynote coming all the way from Hong Kong.
He's the chairman of Animoca Brands.
They've invested in over 500.
I didn't know you had Yat coming over.
Absolutely.
He's wonderful.
That's cool.
And, you know, he's helping, Animoca is helping with the Hong Kong Stablecoin project. So I'm sure he'll have a lot of interesting insights to share with folks. We've got Craig Sall, the chief legal officer for Grayscale. So that's a really interesting private sector person, as well as Natalia Karajenova, the CEO of Propi. I've known about Propi since they launched
and I've never actually met her in person. So I'm excited to be able to connect face to face at our
event. I think what they're doing with real estate is super innovative. We've got Andrew Durgey,
the co-CEO of Republic,
who's heavily involved in what's going on in the White House.
So his perspective will be great.
For those that don't know,
Republic is one of the biggest launch pads on Earth,
and they do things by the book.
So it's great to sort of see him in the mix.
We've got Vincent Kadar, the chairman of Polymesh,
you know, really interesting organization.
Charlie Hugh, the co-founder
and CEO of BitLayer,
a new Bitcoin L1
that is making big waves
with lending on Bitcoin.
So, you know, we tried really hard
to create a diverse lineup of folks from the
US and globally to represent all the different use cases of blockchain from real world asset
tokenization to DeFi to traditional fintech. And there's more exciting names to come that,
you know, have given us soft confirmations, but we haven't officially announced them yet.
So this is definitely an event you're going to want to be at.
And Josh, if I can say one more thing about the private sector.
It's a great mix of really DeFi people and traditional finance, right?
We just got confirmation today that the guy who built the Oracle Cloud, right, and is the personal advisor to Larry Ellison,
the president of Oracle, right?
He's going to be a speaker.
But in addition to all the DeFi,
we've got folks from MasterCard is going to be there,
all kinds of traditional finance,
all these companies that are trying to get in there,
and then the other companies that are really leading the way.
It's a great mix of people.
You know, I was just sitting here going, I have to go.
And I'm like, oh, wait, me too. I am going to be there. That sounds, I mean, it is fabulous. You
guys have so many great speakers there for sure. And it's so interesting too, you know, somebody
just seen me and said, why would there be other countries coming to a U.S. government event?
But, you know, this morning- It's actually not, it's not a U.S. government event. But, you know, this morning. It's actually not,
it's not a U.S. government event. It just happens to be at the U.S. Capitol. I think that's like
another really special thing is GBA is a global government organization and we will have global
leaders coming for this event. Yeah, that's really cool. I was just with a team today that does staking. And I did not know that Europe has been staking ETPs for years now. And the US, we might start doing staking for, you know, for our ETFs here very shortly, but we're behind Europe. So that's another good reason to have global
speakers because everybody is at different spots along their journey for sure.
This morning I was on a phone call with the Software Technology Park of India.
So in the government of India, as you can imagine, IT is a strategic export for them,
primarily in the services business.
And so to promote economic development, they have an entire government agency called the Software Technology Park of India that has established a bunch of different centers of excellence.
One of them is blockchain.
India government, basically the blockchain incubator, reached out to us and they've asked us specifically to work with them to help these Indian companies essentially mature and develop these blockchain solutions so they can export globally.
So the kinds of people that you're going to engage with at an event like this really open up doors all over the world.
Wow, that's really cool.
Thank you for sharing that.
That's amazing.
I can't wait.
I cannot wait for it.
Idris, it looks like you've already raised your hand.
You're either dying for a gala ticket
or you're dying for a dot, for a dot podcast.
So I'll open it up for you.
Can you hear me, Sandy?
I know you, don't I?
Yes, I am. Always very informative to be on your spaces. I love,
love, love that you bring this guests that just pour out knowledge all the time.
So we interact with our government here in the United States, our government official
via Web2 Rails, right? But after they vacate their office, all correspondence seems to be like purged.
And, you know, even if it's like the office
of the, let's say, representative for District 2,
and everything is purged and everything is refreshed.
So how soon do we think our civic system
will get a blockchain on-ramp
so that there's civic provenance over time,
over administration over time, you know, so that, you know, things don't get deleted.
That's a great question.
Things don't get deleted.
So here's the thing.
You need to come to the event.
You need to talk to Jonathan Bahai, who's the president of a technology called Toto.
And Toto is all about increasing the civic engagement between constituents and their elected officials and keeping all of that data on blockchain.
So exactly what you're asking for, we're going to have a guy who's actually building those systems at the event, talking with lawmakers, promoting exactly what you're talking about.
Okay, thank you.
Thank you very much.
I know you can't make the event. Where are you from
again, Idris? I forgot. I am based in Indiana, but I'm originally from Nigeria, West Africa.
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So whether you want a gala pass or a dot podcast,
you're probably going to pick a dot podcast. Is that right?
Yeah. I'm possibly going to pick a dot podcast.
Hey, DC is not that far. You could come and you
could meet the guy that can answer your question directly. From Indiana. Okay. I hear you.
You know, and Idris, I'd love to meet you in person, but you decided. It's up to you. Okay.
Yeah. Yeah. I would love to meet you in person too. We just had our Stand With Crypto event
here. We just had a chapter here. I was there too. Spoke with the president. So things are heating up here in Indiana when it comes to Web3 and the blockchain. So exciting things are going to happen.
Hey, we'd love to have you as a GBA chapter leader. So take a look at GBAglobal.org and join us there. We have 50 different working groups. And we got a great relationship with Stand With Crypto. They're a great organization.
Oh, that'll be awesome.
I'll check it out.
All right.
GBAglobal.org.
GBAglobal.org.
Any other questions?
I'm going to do one more.
Jared and Josh, I know I said this would only go to 1.30 Pacific, and I know it's at that
Will you guys be able to stay on for just a couple more minutes or do you need to rush?
I'm good. OK, Josh, how about you? I've got a couple more minutes. Sure.
OK. OK. So let's while we wait for other people to raise their hand.
Can you tell me kind of the goal of this meeting? So I'm going to I'm coming to D.C.
tell me kind of the goal of this meeting. So I'm coming to DC. Hopefully some other folks here
will do it as well. What do you hope the goal is? People are going to walk away with what from this
particular conference? What's the action you want people to take? So I think that the interesting
thing about this one that makes this event so different from most events in our industry is that it's educating lawmakers,
policymakers, and congresspeople about the future. So I hope that they take away inspiration,
that the government is actually open and ready to support innovation. And I hope that they also get sort of look at for,
for their own companies, for the companies they're part of, for,
for projects they support,
how can these organizations do more in the enterprise and government space?
And I just, I also hope they may have some new friends and, and,
and see how amazing DC is. It's a
beautiful city. Awesome. Jared, how about you? Gosh, there's so much to unpack there. So our
tagline is to help our members connect, communicate, and collaborate, right? And so there's a couple
of different connection points that I think really work here. The first one is you really want to connect with the staff, not necessarily the congressional leads, but the staff are the ones that can point you to exactly what bills are coming at.
And more importantly, where money is being funneled, right, for grants and for for different projects.
This this administration wants to make the United States the crypto capital of the world.
And so there's a lot of work being done in those spaces.
They're about to put the GDP data and national debt data on a blockchain, right?
So there's so many projects that if you know where these things are coming from, you can pre-position.
So when those RFP comes out, when those opportunities come, you can be in the right place. The other thing is you want to partner, right? What we
find is that most of the organizations in our space are smaller businesses. They can't do
everything. But when they partner together, they can create a virtual organization and compete
against the IBMs and the Oracles and the, you know, the big companies, right? Because it's really about that network effect.
With Josh, we hope that people meet new friends,
and we hope that people do business with each other.
One of the greatest things that we see is when companies come together
and everybody's got something else that somebody needs.
A blockchain solution company, they need lawyers and accountants.
The lawyers and accountants, right? The lawyers
and accountants want to find people that can connect them to new customer bases. So it's
really about connecting. And like Josh said, I like to say that this is an epic event in an
iconic venue, right? So being able to be in the US Capitol, in the halls of power, talking about this emerging technology and where it's going,
it's a sense of awe.
It is this incredible thing
and we will have a tremendous amount of fun at the gala.
Honestly, it's just gonna be awesome.
That sounds great.
Okay guys, now these folks are gonna stay on.
We still have two more domains and two gala tickets.
Anybody else have a question or a comment?
Johan, I know you want a dot podcast.
I know you do.
All you have to do is ask a question.
Anybody else have a question for these guys?
Reesey, thank you for the heart there.
I love that. Thank you.
Anybody else have a question you want to ask?
I think Reese is coming on stage now.
Oh, okay. Great. Reese or Reesey. I don't know how you say it.
He'll tell us hopefully here in a Reese. Hey Reese. Good.
Yeah. Well,
I definitely won't be making no event in over in dc because i'm from
australia but um yeah i just wanted to jump up i just wanted to jump up say hello and um yeah i'm
really liking the push for like the whole you know government coming on blockchain and stuff like
that um i was here like way back in the start kind of thing not like 2018 when bitcoin and stuff come out um i'm an all domains
ambassador for another domain service and um yeah i'm really liking the push for the domains and
stuff like that um with without domains is like you like swap your wallet for your domain
so you can like send on blockchain with ease and i really like that so I just want to know with your domains
and stuff like that what's like the process like what what do they what do they do is it like a
business side where like it's you know you set up your business and just use it for the website and
stuff or is it more in depth yeah there are so many use cases, Reese. With an unstoppable domain, you can use it as your wallet, too. In fact, we do 10 million transactions a week, just taking someone's wallet address and putting it to your domain like sandy.crypto, but then also taking sandy.crypto and resolving it to the wallet address. That's our number one use case. But you can also use it for group chats. You can do encrypted group chats or individual chats to
any other of the 4.5 million domain holders that we have out there. You can use it for a gaming tag.
You can use it for, yeah, so many different things. I know it could go on forever, but I want to be
respectful for Josh and for Jared, who are staying on long for us. But you can do all of that with an
Unstoppable Domain. So if this is your first, I'm so excited that it will be a dot podcast.
Yeah, I love that. But yeah, also another question is like, how do you talk to people
in like the higher government and officials? Like, it's just like a, you know, a mate kind of thing.
I'd be like nervous.
It's like anything.
I just, I don't know how you guys do it.
Like, yeah, it's definitely, definitely something.
Well, I'm about to come up on 450 shows of the Edge of Show.
If you haven't caught our show before um check it out gerard's actually
coming on the show tomorrow and sandy's been on the show a few times so practice makes perfect
before i did this as a for a living i would i would say i had standard stage fright. However, you get to a point where you've done so many turns,
both digitally and in real life, where you realize there's nothing to be nervous about.
This past year, I had a chance to moderate a panel at Leap in Riyadh in front of 100,000 people.
So I figure at that point, it's like, it's all good.
So just practice rounds is my answer there.
Yeah, and I think that if the question is,
how do you talk effectively to people in government,
you have to realize a couple of things. Number one, if you're effectively to people in government? You have to realize a couple of
things. Number one, if you're talking to a politician, you got to keep it to a bumper
sticker, right? One of the biggest mistakes I see that people in this space do when they're
talking to political folks is they get too geeky on them and they lose them like that. They'll
smile, but then you walk out of the room and you've accomplished nothing. The second thing is
you need to talk to the staff and you need to find out what the political agendas are, right?
So, for example, one of the congressmen we're working on, we know that energy is really important to them, right?
And so we try to – you have to make sure you can connect what is it that's important to them.
And there's so many things to talk about.
You've got to leave it all on the table and just really focus in on what their policy
objectives are.
And then with respect to folks lower down in the administration, there's really two
things that they're really interested in.
Number one is not being on the front pages of the local newspaper because of some kind
of security violation or something like that.
And number two, how to increase or maintain their funding for the next year?
Because if you talk to them about being efficient, right,
if you're talking to an administrator, that means we don't spend all the money.
So next year our funding gets cut and our power base gets cut.
So it's really, I would say like anything,
it's really important before you have the conversations to understand
what the drivers are. And the drivers are not always what you would think they are.
Many years ago when I was in college, I got fired from a construction site because we saved the
company too much money, not realizing that the contract was a cost plus contract. So by us saving
the company money, we actually were costing it revenue. So that's my
big takeaway is really try to understand what your audience is looking for and then just hit that one
nail. Yeah. Yeah. I really like that because obviously I'm new to the whole coming up and
talking and stuff and just wanted to be better communicating with people.
And, um, but yeah, that's a really good take. I, I like that. It's just, just making sure that you know who you're talking to and what, what they want and try and give them not what they want,
but like lead them in the direction that like, that's what they want kind of thing.
But yeah, I like that. There's another principle And I kind of use this in politics, right? Like I, I've got,
I've got kids that have very different political views than I do.
And it was important for me to be able to, to communicate to them.
And what I learned is before anybody's going to listen to you,
you got to listen to them. Right. And, and, and, and that,
that really,
whether you're talking about a government administration official or anything, you just really got to know who you're talking to and what's going to mean something to them.
That's correct.
Yeah, I appreciate that.
Thanks for having me up.
And I'll just keep listening.
And Reese, if you want to, just DM our Unstoppable channel, which is up there in the corner.
Let him know what podcast you would like.

Sorry, I missed the beginning of the spaces.
So I have two quick questions.
One for the edge of the show.
And I was wondering about the .podcast TLD. Are you planning to
go to the ICANN auction with that one later on, or will you keep it Web3?
Yeah, that's a timely question. We're navigating that possibility right now with unstoppable domains they've been a great partner and we
haven't made a final determination yet but um i'm cautiously optimistic we can sort of take it the
the icam path um it's quite a uh expensive process um in addition being complicated so um so we are sort of exploring
having um a potential partner for the endeavor if you're interested let's have a private conversation
okay okay very good and also i have a question for uhard. I didn't hear everything you said,
so maybe you've answered this before,
but are you talking mainly to the U.S. government and officials,
or is it other countries' governments as well?
Yeah, so the event is called
the Future of Money, Governance
and the Law, right? And governance
happens at all levels, local, state, national
and international. And
we as an organization have members in
government offices all around the world. So all
the continents,
maybe not Antarctica,
but I think short of Antarctica
we've got folks all over the world.
All right.
All right.
That's great.
Okay, Johan, request that .podcast.
And, yes, I love your question about ICANN because Josh and I have been chatting about it.
about it. I think that podcast would be an amazing ICAN-TLD if we can pull it off.
I think .podcast would be an amazing ICANN TLD if we can pull it off.
Okay, guys. Jared and Josh, I can't wait to see you guys in DC. You guys are great partners. Love,
love, love this conference and all the speakers you have. Looks like we sold another premium
domain on the call. So that means we're now down to 22 domains that are left. So if you're interested,
come and grab it fast, fast, fast. And if you have any questions, my DMs are open. I don't know
about Josh's and Gerard's. Are you guys, you have your DMs open? I believe so. Yeah. So thank you, Sandy, again, for hosting this space and being
a partner in this way. I thought this came out beautifully and it was really exciting to pick
these domains together and to see that people appreciate them as much as we do. It's been
really gratifying. So thank you again on behalf of Edge and GBA for being a great partner.
And Gerard, thank you.
You want to close this out?
No, I think Josh said it all.
Really appreciate all you guys and looking forward to seeing the great work that we can all do together.
So have a great day, everybody.
Okay, awesome.

Yeah, Sandy, we can do a virtual question. If someone listens to this and doesn't,
you know, we can we can give those away to someone listening that that wants to participate
virtually. I'll let you sort of run that and let me know. And I'll go ahead and answer the question
virtually or Gerard, whatever. And yeah, so I'm sure there's someone in the audience that's going to listen to this later
that's like wow I would have asked this question and I want to come to DC so we'll keep that
opportunity on okay that's really cool awesome awesome thank you and thanks to all the listener
