Alright, let's get this started. Hopefully everybody's doing great today on this beautiful Thursday. We are so close to the weekend. It's just a lot going on this week. I'm really excited to hear what y'all have been working on. As always, please raise your hand. Come on up to
the stage. Today we will be joined by Donnie a little later than usual. So just as an FYI, it's just me up here for a little bit as opposed to our normal spaces, which is Donnie and me jamming on some
topics that have been providing the space of Web 3. But as usual, if there's anything you want to share with the group, definitely raise your hand coming up. Let's get started. Yeah, so I think for the last couple of
weeks now. Every Thursday we have hosted these spaces and we've been talking about altos. It's just an interesting topic for me personally. For anybody who doesn't know, just because I'm behind the ontology avatar here, my name is Humpty Caldera
on and I'm a contributor at ontology. I've been a contributor there for almost two years now. Wow, feels like yesterday. And I'm also a host of the Eclipse APN podcast. So that is a Web3 podcast that
interviews, founders to have everyone like ourselves get a better understanding of what it is to build in Web 3 and hopefully motivates us to become Web 3 founders ourselves because there's as most of you probably know and I hope you know
Web 3 is ripe with opportunity. It is open to anybody who is interested in tinkering with the technology and leveraging the network effects of the technology and combining what they do, maybe in the traditional Web 2 space
So there is no reason at all for anyone not to experiment with it. I'm also co-founder of a Zaynq and we are building an air drop modeling tool using decentralized data.
I'll give a bit of background to Entology and then I'll kind of jump into the L2 discussion as I usually do. So Entology is a project that has been building different Web 3 projects or excuse me, products since 2017 when they joined the decentralized identity foundation.
And as early members of that group, they've been involved with developing open standards for digital identity. So decentralized identity and verifiable credentials, all that stuff as you may have heard previously being discussed for this
something that intelligence has been building for a long time. They also have built a layer one solution that supports multiple EVMs including, they're multiple VMs, including EVM, and they're currently incubating an L2, called Gotion. There's a lot of other fun stuff. Last year I helped to
to build a orange protocol which leveraged your decentralized identity to build a self-savarin or private reputation, something that you own, something that you use to reveal and it's has to things that you've done in this space to unlock new private
experiences, whether that is joining a social channel, whether that is participating in governance without necessarily meeting a financial token to do that. You don't have to buy in, you just basically use your reputation to participate in governance. That's some of the cool stuff that I helped to build last year.
And yeah, so with that said, I wanted to circle back to, you know, this conversation that we've been having now for going on, I believe, a month, which is an L2. And get anybody in the audience that wants to talk about this. Please, please raise your hand.
I think this space is open for you to be able to share your thoughts and your perspective. If anything, I would say you're encouraged to more than being just a preference. It makes it more fun than just me talking to myself. I promise you. So when it comes to L2,
We've seen kind of on the Ethereum side that have explosive growth. It started with maybe some side chain technology like Polygon, the DIA Network, which is now the Moses chain.
And with that optimism, they develop, you know, this optimistic rollup if you will, which then has allowed for the continued growth of new platform, new protocols, new networks that utilize that technology.
So, why is there this kind of explosive growth in
this space and then I like to look at the parallels with maybe other networks that have some of the similar challenges and the opportunities to build something similar there. And recently I think last week we talked about
building layer two technologies on top of Bitcoin. Because, as I think many of you know, have you been attending these faces now for the last couple of weeks, the Bitcoin network?
has become bogged down by increased usage of the platform. Right? And that's a good thing. I don't think that that's a bad thing. I think that's a wonderful thing. I personally am a big fan of experimentation.
to push the boundaries of innovation. And I think what's happening over on the Bitcoin network is exactly that. So the question then the last couple of weeks has been, at least last week was
When will Bitcoin?
deploying L2.
And I mean, some people have mentioned that there have been some different developments that aren't necessarily L2s that provide scalability, right? Because again, going back to what are some of the challenges to these networks that necessitate L2s.
A lot of the times is scalability because the base network itself cannot efficiently manage the requests that are being made to it because there's just a lot of people that are trying to come through.
And a lot of people that are trying to use the network either to transact normally like they would with Bitcoin or to purchase an NFT or whatever else it is. We've seen that on a theorem already. So it's nothing new.
These scalability products, like layer 2 networks, provide
an opportunity to increase the usage while aligning with the values and security of the base net. So, and Ethereum, like I said, we have quite a few being led by optimism, but even now we're starting to see some of the kind of a new
technology that is being built that seeks to scale it out but in a different form. So, where optimistic rollups have an optimistic view of transactions, right? They assume something to be valid until proven, but it isn't.
networks require a zero knowledge proof before submitting it to the network, right? So there is I think value in both. It's interesting to see the different approaches that are being taken. So the question then is
What do we believe to be a similar parallel approach on Bitcoin?
is that something similar to an optimistic, something like ZK or something entirely different. And what I've read, what I've been seeing over the past couple of weeks, is that
Bitcoin itself presents a very unique opportunity for developers to build with
to build with some of the technological restrictions of that network.
And I use restrictions here in a positive sense, where these restrictions are part of what make Bitcoin secure, right? So how could developers take advantage of that to be able to build an L2?
And I mean, the answer for me easily is, I don't know. I personally don't have the answers to that. But that certainly is a space that remains-- there's a lot of interest because there's a lot of attention.
that's being directed towards it because of all of the development and traffic has been caused by the development. So just some of the things to extend and maybe close
flows the conversation around out to that we've been having over the past couple of weeks. If you have any comments and thoughts on theory on Bitcoin ontology as a layer two solution, I'd look to hear
If not, I'll take a moment here to take a sip of water and then I'll go through some other talking points.
All right.
what I used to do back when I used to host these conversations on my own before I had a wonderful collaborator like Donnie joined me every week. I used to go through the anthology monthly report to report on some
things that ontology is doing and updating for themselves on the layer one blockchain or to some of its kind of incubator projects. And for anybody who wants to follow along
You're more than welcome to click on the medium link that is not pinned to this Twitter account, but it is a second tweet. I will also pin it on this page so it should be populating shortly.
to go ahead and click on that. That is what I'm going to be reading for the next couple of minutes and hopefully after that.
We can get some hands here. We're Donnie would join me next time. I'll be between him and I. But until then
Let's read some of these updates. He would entail he's been up to. Just for anybody who's new here.
one of the reasons why I'm personally very attracted to ontology is because they are consistent.
They have since their launch in 2017 been consistently building and creating valuable tools.
for the advancement and adoption of Web 3. So take a look, ointy.io, take a look, ointy.id. These are all different sites that share some of the things that ontology has built over the last
four or five years. So with that sum.
Ontology, as I mentioned earlier, zincubating a layer to oh wait, that's not what this is saying. Sorry, 90% down with the EVM index optimization. So
One of the things that I mentioned I know earlier too was
Ontology being one of a few blockchains, if not only blockchains, that supports multiple virtual machines. That means allows for different programming languages to be able to develop on top of ontology.
And one of those is EVM, which they launched last year.
with this progress that they're reporting on.
EVM is becoming a much more competitive, attractive solution for Ethereum developers to deploy the contracts that they've
built, maybe previously on Ethereum or SAP support from the network to be able to deploy those contracts and develop those products on the blockchain.
To be mentioned too, I don't know how much of it is left yet, or still, I should say.
But, on top of that, you also have a developer fund that they're using for insensivizing.
I don't know where that sits now, but I would highly encourage anybody who's interested in developing on an Ethereum compatible blockchain.
To take a look at that reach out to Entology and other DMs are open and they're always looking for new developers to onboard into the ecosystem.
There is continue development on Anthology's EDM. So that becomes more useful product for developers.
Also, to be reported, I know on Tology mentioned this a couple of weeks back.
optimizing our energy, taking liquidity.
You know, one of the things that I don't know if this is helpful that I'm sharing here. So forgive me if this hasn't been said before. And if I don't have a lot of information about it, but I'm tall.
is they understand the value of staking and the staking economy.
And to that effect, the ontology is building.
tools, they can state their own tea, generate rewards, but still maintain some liquidity of those tokens so that they can participate in other protocols like D5. So to that effect,
from what I've heard, there should be an announcement coming soon about a DEX that's getting built on Entology.
and a liquid staking.
protocol that's getting developed on Solitude. So keep it down those because I know those are definitely very attracting ways of encouraging participation for those of us who like
to remain liquid so that we can participate in DeFi or in some other dejan activity where we're able to buy cell land NFTs
liquid-staking allows us to take advantage of both valuable components of ontology. One is, sticking our tokens, generating yield from that, securing the network alongside that.
as well as being able to take the liquid token and then
participating in some of those other activities. NFTs defies, you name it. So I think that's really wonderful. I love to see that. Entology continues to adopt kind of some of these, I would say at this point,
I really appreciate this topic development.
because it definitely shows that anthology remains committed to its staking community, which last I checked, it's a huge part.
of the Entology community, people who hold on to and stake it in generate a yield from those tokens.
I think that also will allow for Ontology to see their other projects and products flourish, in particular in the DeFi and NFT marketplace space.
And I'll invite you again raise your hand coming up to the stage. Show your thoughts. Doesn't have to be about this. We can really chat just about anything. If not, I'll continue for a few more minutes.
This is just really a space to provide updates. I'm going to try to keep it short. I would if it's a space we can have a conversation about the ecosystem at large. Then I'll keep the space open a little longer.
Some of the other things here, I'll just run through them very briefly. Some of the other updates have to do with media initiatives that I've participated in, some of my colleagues like Jeff and Donnie and first
and assassin all of the community members of Entology participating in extending the value proposition of Entology to new audiences. You can read that for yourselves.
30,000 followers on CoinMarkerCapt, that's interesting. More people are interested in seeing and reading and following untilty from a market perspective. CoinMarkerCapt is a wonderful product.
There's also been a recent outflow or just many, many
different
interviews with some of our team members here. And just briefly, it looks like some of the people that they've interviewed are Cristina, Eden, Donnie, my collaborator here, and many, many more contributors. So you can find the links to those in the update or on the Entology blog, which should
pretty easy to access. Let's say I'm going to do one more update here and if I don't see any hands then I'll probably be closing this in the next few minutes. The next five minutes more likely. But I do hope that I hear from you and you can come up so we can have a chat.
There has been
additional product development updates from on toe, you know, it's all just identity wallet. We haven't heard it from me before. I don't know where you've been, but I talk about on to fairly regularly and I do think that it is the best digital
wallet, you can own because it goes beyond just holding digital assets. It's about owning your identity. And so there's an opportunity here through Onto for you to generate a
decentralized identity, but also leverage the wallet to be able to manage identities such as the NFTs that you hold, you know, a reputation that you've earned from the different
the ontology products for instance that you've used or some of the partner projects and products that are been integrated to onto. So take a look with the updates. A lot happening there, including a recent article about
identity wallets, you know, that onto ice published. Some of the final growth metrics here
are the growth of transactions on the main net, almost 8 million transactions on the network with close to 200 applications that are running on ontology. So I think it's commendable. Total transactions, almost 20 million.
And so that is very encouraging to see the added growth and support that the community has felt I would assume to be able to or to be encouraged to participate across all of these different products and anthology.
recruitment updates. This is great. I think one thing that we saw the tech space recently go through is kind of a bit of a pullback where people were let go from technical work, technology company.
So if you're one of these people that is interested in blockchain development, that is interested in community development, if you're interested in marketing support, decentralized identity,
Definitely reach out to Entology.
I believe it's careers.oant.io if not it is careers@oant.io which is an email. You can go to the website oant.io all the way to the bottom I think they have some information about how to get hired at ontology. They're looking for
or marketing manager, a go programming language engineer, front end engineer, looking for a senior engineer DevOps and a UI designer. So a lot of opportunities on Entology.
you believe to be one of those people that that's one of the roles that you can occupy, oint.io or careers@ointidio.io.
That's all I have on my end. Would have liked to engage many of you who are in this call in a conversation to learn, you know, pay.
While you're here, what interests you in the space of Web 3 some of the things that you learn about ontology some of the ways that you can continue to grow with ontology
This space is always open for you to have a conversation about these things. So I want to thank everyone who showed up today and join me here.
We will be back next week. We should be back now with our trio next week. That would be Polaris, Donnie and myself.
So without further ado, thank you so much everyone, wishing you a wonderful rest of your week and a wonderful weekend as well.
