Okay. Yep. What's up everybody? Patrick McGinnis here for our first live chat talking about FOMO
coin, my new favorite topic. So first of all, let me just introduce myself. So I'm Patrick
McGinnis. I'm American. I live in New York City, but grew up in the state of Maine. And the reason
why you're here is because the reason I'm here as well is because I'm the inventor of the term
FOMO, fear of missing out. Obviously an iconic term in this world of meme coins and crypto.
It's so great I put it on a hat.
So I invented FOMO 21 years ago, 22 years ago.
And I actually have here, I think there's only like two copies of this in the whole wide world.
This is the original article where I coined the term FOMO.

exists today is because everybody loved to use the word all my friends and my neighbors
today is because everybody loved to use the word, all my friends and my neighbors.
I was in business school at the time. And then one of my neighbors, a guy I actually didn't know,
but this guy called Mark, Mark Zuckerberg, he launched the Facebook in the same semester
that I launched FOMO. And obviously today, thanks to him, well, you know, FOMO is everywhere.
And it has been a huge part of the culture of meme coins, right?
I've been following meme coins for a while.
I've never been active in meme coins until now, but I've been following it.
Why? Because it's fascinating.
It's fun.
And it is full of FOMO.
You see what I did there?
I didn't say the F word, but I thought it.
It's everywhere.
And so what happened was very recently, I think it was like last week.
I mean, I've lost track of time because I'm in your vortex now.
But last week, I received a message from somebody who said, it means the internet.
And he was like, we're creating a a fomo coin and we would like to
make you um part of this and give you the creator fees and um come and talk to us about fomo and
like get involved in this thing i had no idea what any of that meant to be honest with you
but what i did know was that um i wanted, number one, learn about this space, intellectually interested in it.
Number two is that I wanted to, you know, build a community.
I was like, I learned about the community aspects of these coins.
And the idea of getting everybody together in one place has been awesome.
And frankly, it's also created a ton of foam with me.
As you've been noticing, because it's all out there,
I've been buying the coin, right?
So I think it's important to, if you love something,
if you love something, you know, you want to have more of it.
you want to have more of it.
And so I've been reinvesting some of the creator fees in the coin.
And also, as you will have noticed,
I've also announced that I am giving some of the creator fees
to the Planet Word Museum,
which is a museum in Washington, D.C. that I super love.
And that is the first museum of words that is fully voice interactive.

Talk about FOMO.
This museum is like a FOMO factory, which is why I love it.
And so, you know, this is,
that's the story on what I've been doing with that.
But like, you know, what is going on here?
Like, why, why does this matter?
Like, why are we all here today, right?
Like we could all be doing other things.
It's because this is the ultimate meme coin
for the ultimate crypto meme, right? I wrote an article today. I'm sure some of you
guys checked it out talking about like what I think are the three most important memes out
there in crypto. We have HODL. Love me some HODL. And, you know, shout out to the HODL creator,
Love me some HODL.
And, you know, shout out to the HODL creator.
Super cool guy.
I mean, what a legend.
We have FOMO, Fear of Missing Out.
And then the other one that I kind of dig is FUD, which I had heard about.
But I feel like, you know, so far we're keeping our FUD in control, right?
But if you think about FOMO in the context of this entire space,
like this in space really is the living embodiment of FOMO, right?
And I think what's been crazy and what I've noticed
since I have been part of this community,
and by the way, I want to shout out to everybody who has been writing. I'm getting emails from people. People are sending me LinkedIn messages to make
sure I wasn't hacked on that first day. My favorite story so far is there's a guy who lives in Kosovo.
I stayed at his hotel. He's a front desk manager of a beautiful hotel in Kosovo in Pristina.
He wrote me on LinkedIn and asked me if I've been hacked. And I was like, no, what do you mean? And he was like, well, I'm buying FOMO coin. And I was like,
holy crap. Like, that's insane. So anybody who's been involved in the community,
giving me ideas, advice, like I'm listening, right? I'm learning and I'm sharing it with
other people. And it's important that you know, like we have community members here
who have been supporting and stepping up for this coin.
So, so far, you know, we have folks who've helped out with Jupiter verification, which is completed.

So like there are some smart ass people in this community who are stepping up for this coin
because this isn't, I mean, I think of this as something that I like, it's much more than, I mean,
yes, it's lovely in terms of, you know, if you can make an investment and do well in it, like
awesome. And I hope everybody does, but it's more, it's more than that. It's about building a
community that validates and celebrates the relationship that fomo has with this space this as i said like i just somebody said to me earlier
today and i was like this is so dope the ultimate meme coin for the ultimate meme right and so um
so that's kind of one of the things that they kind of brought me into this space and then ever since then
looking at this community and learning from you guys and building it and we're like scaling up
pretty well i mean i think we're north of 800 people and we were at zero a week ago right and
we're seeing the volumes tick up the interest tick up like this is cool like we can build something
really fun and my goal and what i'm hoping for is that it kind of jumps outside of
this space and becomes something people are talking about. I want to read an article about
how the FOMO meme coin is the hot thing out there and how it's created this movement where people
are in on the joke, right? That would be dope. That would get me excited. I can't tell if there's
questions, by the way. I'm looking at the live chat, but if you guys, I did see some questions.
I think I answered most of them, but feel free to drop some in.
I do want to show you a couple of cool things that I have just sitting around
besides my formal hat, which I love, which is that,
so I've been interacting with some of you guys,
and I sent some of you guys books.
We had a little competition, and so one of the people who won a book, we were chatting, he is from Korea. And so I was telling him that actually
my book, Fear of Missing Out, which is right here. There it is. Boom, boom, Russian,
and this is a great one, Serbian.

I just got a message from somebody, but it's asking, somebody's gonna help me out with
some of the tactical stuff.
Guys, seriously.
Also, the other cool thing about this is that I am learning your world.
So, you know, it's like I've never owned crypto,
but I'm not active in crypto.
And what has happened is that y'all have given me such FOMO
that I am the guy now who's like living on Twitter.
It's pretty crazy.
Waking up at three in the morning, checking my phone,
like what's been going on with
my twitter because i do like twitter i'm very addicted to it and i like hearing from all of you
i have got my friends in on this buying the coin which is pretty dope so like i have a friend last
night who i was like telling him about this and just like explaining kind of how it works and he
was like oh my god this is crazy i would i i don't get it and then by the end he's like, oh my God, this is crazy. I would, I don't get it. And then by the end, he's like, so how do I buy the coin? And I'm like, head over to PumpFun. He bought the coin,
which is dope. So I kind of love that for him. I mean, so we're converting people, right? It's
like Moonshot, PumpFun. I mean, I didn't even know about these companies, but I am now like
on them and I'm enjoying them and they're pretty dope and all the dynamics around them.

what's been interesting about this community
and the reason why I'm here,
I'm a busy guy. You're all busy people.
Why are we here?
Because this is the ultimate thing.
And I think this has the chance to be something...
I'm committed to being in the community,
to contributing to the community. As you notice, like I've been writing articles. Why?
Because I'm trying to figure this thing out and understand it and the psychology and integrate
it in the way I see the world so that I can talk about it in different places. I can talk about it
in my keynote speeches. I can write about it. Like who knows what we're going to do with all
this information. But I think it's cool to shine a light on this culture that a lot of people don't get. Like
most of my friends, by the way, have had, it's very interesting. Like when I tell my friends
who are my peers and we're all like 50, they have no idea what's going on. Like even the ones who
are in tech and in, you know, like that are venture capitals and stuff. They're like, yeah,
like I know nothing about that. I'm like, well, join the community and come learn from everybody else. But I was at my coffee shop
the other day talking to Victoria. She's 20. She's all over this. Right. And so this is like,
this is a youth driven movement. And I just think it's pretty dope that you have folks who are showing up and educating me
and making me the guy who is supposed to be, I'm just checking, I'm going to drop this
link in this basis post just in case, giving the guy who is supposed to be the master of
FOMO and immune to FOMO and all this sort of stuff, because, you know, I said, like literally what I do for a living, I've lost control. And so, um,
so I don't know what to say about that, except that, um, except that it's pretty hilarious
And definitely fun.

number one so i am thinking about this actively i'm talking to some members of the community right
and so that's dope and then also um totally open suggestions. Like this is your community too. And so
please share and, and, and, you know, tell us about it. Okay. We have a good interesting comment
here from Larry. We need to create an official telegram group as a place for decks updates,
coordinating promotions, trending activities. The goal is to increase coins visibility, strike the market. Okay, that's cool. Yeah, I do have Telegram. And what I can do is kind of run this by people who
know more than I do. And we can have a conversation about it. But like, that's a very helpful
suggestion. Thank you for it. Like, by the way, there is no bad suggestion. As long as you look, as long as we keep the vibes good, right, which is totally part of FOMO coin, like mean people, they don't get to have FOMO. Okay, we don't let them have it. So cool people who have good suggestions that are offered in a spirit of like kindness and supporting the community
and the coin like I'm all for it um because number one I have a lot of humility around this
space and that I am learning right number two I have a lot of respect for the time you guys are
putting into this because you are I see people like responding and being, being part of our community. And I don't know, that kind of warms my heart every day.
And number three is that like within, you know,
I do want to see this like flourish. Right. And so it'd be cool. Yeah.

and tagged them just explaining
the fomo of moonshot and i think we would love to get um get get involved there so if you guys
are listening um moonshot sending you my love and we would love to get more involved in there
we're working on that i know we have some members of the community that are working on that because
we get it right okay we have a suggestion you thought about
reaching out to matt beal he's the butt coin top holder and has his own podcast could be a great
club hell yeah matt beal you clearly know what you're doing because but coin i've read up on
but coin somebody sent me something on it i mean it's it's a ridiculous coin, first of all. So well done,
Matt. But would love to get involved with Matt. So Matt, we'll figure out how to do that. If
people have ideas on how to get to the right people, anybody like that, like you guys,
I'm a podcaster. I will do media all day long. I don't get sick of it. So I will make space in my schedule to talk about FOMO

So I'd never met him.
However, over the summer, he rented my friend's dorm room
on the Harvard Business School campus.
And then he didn't clean up.
He kind of left it a mess.
And so they kept his security deposit of like $500,
my friends Claire and Deborah.
And I'm always like, if you had gotten fucking sharers, and oh, I said the F word. Well, if you'd gotten shares in Facebook, like you would
be so rich right now. So they had emails from Mark. Now, I didn't meet Mark. I've met Eduardo
Savard twice. The first time I met Eduardo was actually at a bachelor party in Vegas.
Eduardo was actually at a bachelor party in Vegas. And this was like before he was known, right?
And so I was like, he's like, I was like, what do you do? And he's like, I'm the founder of Facebook.
And I was like, you're not Mark Zuckerberg. And he's like, no, I'm the other one. And I was like,
yeah, sure, whatever. I Googled it. And then I was like, holy crap, this guy is the other founder.
I was wrong. Of course, there's others like and and um chris right and then years later uh um he had me back so like uh what's
you know eduardo's venture capital firm hired me to speak at their annual meeting and when i gave
my talk i talked about the story of fomo and i I was like thank you Eduardo for being here and by the way what happens to me is exactly what I did to Eduardo I'm like I'm the creator
of FOMO and people be like oh come on and then they google me and they come running up to me
and they're like wow you really are so I was like Eduardo I really get you man um let's okay here's
have you met other famous builder or person I have been lucky to meet a lot of famous people because my podcast has a lot of famous
people on. So I've had everybody from like Jay Shetty. I've had Jimmy Wales, the founder of

you're watching i met lindsey vaughn last year now before well no you know before all this stuff
with her like breaking her leg again it's so terrible but she's amazing i spoke at a conference
right after her so i've met a bunch of people i've been super lucky. But to me, it's nice to meet celebrities.
I like just meeting people. So everybody who's
part of this thing, whether you're, I mean, if we have Reese Witherspoon
buying FOMO coin, then we'll officially die.
But I want to talk to all you guys. I like it.

that's crazy. And then I would love, love, love, please, please, please give me ideas of
stuff you want me to talk about and write about, okay? I'm a podcast host. I'm a writer of books.
I'm a person who is interested in what you're doing. Like, I want content ideas because
number one, that's cool. Number two is that putting cool things out there
is a way for us to grow our influence
and get powerful people to pay attention, right?
Like if you look at the things I'm writing about,
I'm thinking about ways that we can get people interested
outside our communities to come and join us.
So that would be really dope.
