GM all you wonderful people.
I'm the other one here at the moment.
I'm sure that will change.
As always, go meme for trees. Thank you. you
howdy howdy good evening thing
Hopefully the uh there we go they're up here hey how are you happening i'm using my service and not the wi-fi because the wi-fi has been acting up and the service also acts up being
in a foreign country with it. The all good option.
It's working now.
That's what matters.
How was your day?
Extremely busy.
I mean, it's good.
It's good because it's better than what it's been the last like month and a half probably two months so
I started the investment consulting job
and my morning was
spent sending out like 20 some different
emails spent sending out like 20 some different emails. Yeah. But hey, it's a Web3 thing. So I'm excited
because I'm learning. I'm I get to be able to see all these different white papers. So it's
actually helping me prepare as I go to launch my own project I don't even want to call
it a project my mission but yeah how about how's your day then well it is you know 7 30 in the
morning so I've only been up for about you know two three hours um but yeah I'm doing good kids
are up they're getting ready for school the younger ones are already off to school. The older ones should be able to handle themselves while I do this.
Let's find out, I guess.
How old are they again?
They are 13 and 14.
So they should be able to, but, you know, sometimes they need an extra kick in the pants.
Yeah, that was when I wanted to be the most
independent, so that
makes sense. That's when I was like,
I gotta get out of this house.
hopefully they're
They're usually good, it's just getting out of bed
is the thing they don't want to do.
I woke them up once. I don't know. First, I grew up in a house where it was like,
if you did not get up at your scheduled time, you weren't going to get the bathroom time that you wanted so i was up at 5 45 every fucking morning
and like on the dot because i mean when you grow up in a family that's run by the cia intelligence
it's like you do what they say if you don't your life is hell
It's like you do what they say if you don't your life is hell
I lived in like some facilities and stuff when I was a kid and it was very like
Here's your scheduled time and like you use it or you don't get it like kind of stuff as well
Like I get it. I know I'm like I feel like I'm pretty nice to the kids
honestly, like my childhood was
Rough way to describe it
But not a you know trying to make sure next generation is doing a little better, you know
Do you guys know?
You guys know
I invited him up realizing I didn't know him.
And so he tries to join the Crescent spaces, but I don't know.
We didn't get scammed with buttholes yet.
How are you doing this morning?
Nice to meet you, Benzo.
You got anything you want to say?
His hand is up.
I thought he had something to say.
Good morning, Jimmy.
How you doing?
Mr. Groen.
He's either busy or it's broken.
His phone did die on me
in the middle of her talk
for tree gens.
Who knows?
I know that he's
between meetings right now.
So I'm glad that he was able to make it.
Yeah, here it all is appreciated.
I know that when he has the time, I was going to say we're going to try to, like, probably prioritize his character introduction story.
Because, you know,
I don't think he's got the time to hang out and chill with us all day.
I think he just rugged
because he's not showing in the space at all now.
Yeah, I see that.
How are you doing this morning, MK?
Hello, hello.
Yes, I was just, you know, accusing some people to come and find me by night,
you know, because what I found this morning is like astonishing, you know, it's like my
goat, you know, I'm doing fine, you know, I'm doing better. Today we did some work on our new farm with with Patrick so excited but at the
same time you know I'm behind so I I'm improving brother nice to be here nice
to be is it the first session yeah like there's a we're just kind of setting up
to figure out when who can play when today we were gonna introduce some character nice
And see if this was a good slot for mr. Groen. He seems to be very busy and all over the place
so his time slot is what I'm trying to nail down
Mostly because a lot of people love him and he brings in an extra audience and that audience loves trees and stories
and stuff to plant trees probably uh they'd help spread the word so you know hi
let's invite Jimmy back in here
how about found how's he doing today?
Is he still here? Yeah.
Hey, Jimmy. I'm good.
Middle of the afternoon.
But I said I'd hop in.
Well, yeah, and if there's a time that works for you,
let's set up to play a game, for sure.
Like, if this isn't a good time.
I actually have, I haven't signed the paper, the agreement yet, but I'm getting a sponsor to do these spaces.
So, not only do I need to, like, get this runway going, I need to, that's where I need to build the audience.
I need to keep the stories growing.
I need to schedule times with people who want to play.
You know, it's going to be like a job.
Yeah, Saturday this time.
Sorry, son.
No, I feel like I should say sorry.
Saturdays would be great for me because it's like 2 13 the afternoon
uh right now where i am so saturdays would work but i'm sure i can i can swap things around
so that whenever the group agrees i'm down for it well my trouble is is now that I'm a single father of four, weekends are basically for the kids.
So I'm trying to find weekdays times that work for people.
Hey, found where are you?
Sorry, go ahead.
I can do 730 in the morning every day until there's a true gen space.
So, this works.
Yeah, that's what we picked today so we can get you going.
And I was hoping Jimmy had some moments to get Professor Doge.
I made his character as well.
He, you know, inspired him long ago.
And now he exists.
Or you could be Leonard.
You know, a turtle with a top hat.
I think Leonard would probably be a paladin.
He beats people with a cane who don't do what they're supposed to.
do with a supposed stick.
I'm like, Jimmy, do you want to speak
before I talk about Guanwu?
Do you want to speak?
Oh, just super quick. Found, where are you based, bro?
Yo, which part?
Nairobi. I have a part? Nairobi.
I have a house in Nairobi and another one in Califi.
Dude, I'm in Nairobi right now.
Oh, that's cool.
We could meet up for coffee or something.
Let's do it.
Let's do it.
Let's grow.
All right.
Yeah, you just said which time it is for you, and I'm like, oh, shit.
That's the same for me.
Because my neighborhood house is in Westlands.
But I can drive to wherever you are.
But we can talk in the DMs and meet up.
Awesome, fam.
That'd be awesome.
And then I'll be in Nairo until, like, Sunday probably,
and then I'm going to coast for some mangrove stuff.
But, yeah, that'd be awesome.
So let's connect in the back channels.
Back to you, Song of O.
I wanted to know if you wanted to be...
Where are you going?
A bit of a delay there.
I'll chat to you directly.
Yeah, go ahead, Song.
So, Jimmy, we were talking about your character
And that you have the choice
Do you want to be the turtle
With a top hat James
That's a paladin
And knocks people with his cane
Is James here?
James might be
Or you can be
Jimmy already has two characters
he has Professor Joe
and Leonard
so what do you think a day in the life of Leonard
what does he do when he gets up in the morning?
I knew he lived on a very
fancy airship
but this time he's going to come to a city
where they've announced that there's a very powerful artifactship, but this time he's going to come to a city where they've
announced that there's a very powerful artifact
lost in the wilderness somewhere.
You know, what do you think
Leonard would want to use
this very powerful magical artifact
Wait, did you say in an airship?
Yeah, he flies around in an airship.
Alright, alright. It's a giant, eligible kind of thing. Wait, did you say in an airship? Yeah, he flies around in an airship. All right, all right.
A giant, eligible kind of thing.
All right, so your first question was, what does he do in the morning?
Probably a smoke and a pancake.
Fires up the old piperoo and has a pancake.
And your second question was, what he uses the artifact for?
Well, it's been announced that it's been found, or they think they know where it is.
So, like, his interest in it has peaked because, I mean, it's extraordinarily valuable, but it's also supposed to be extraordinarily powerful for, like, essentially, like, wild magic that makes things grow and things change um but what would he use it
well uh it uh it regenerates. Sorry. I'm a tree gen at heart, so...
It regenerates the world!
Well, that is kind of what it
can be used for, or it can be used
to make monsters.
Leonard's a good guy, though. He's not about that
monstrous life, so...
Okay, yeah.
So, you know,
you gotta keep it from the bad guys.
Plus, you got to use that power for good, right?
So, Leonard gets the news.
You guys, you know, take port in this place called Cardov's Gate.
They have...
Did you read the introduction at the top or at the link I sent you?
Not quite, but I'm going through it right now.
I mean, we could just talk about it, I could read it.
But yeah, that's basically, there was the new,
you heard about it, you showed up.
Leonard is a paladin as well. Like, what kind of oath
or code do you think he follows?
Like, daily life, like, just
we don't break this code, no matter
where we go or what we do.
Right. The old
thou shall
butts unless
they are cigarette butts. or if you have express permission
it's a bit of a lengthy code but it's uh yeah it's an oath that we live by here Leonard is a strict monogamist. Yes.
Which is fair.
You know, he's a 300-year-old total man.
And he's a paladin, so they tend to have a higher code of ethics.
All right. So, as you land in this sprawling town of Cardov's Gate,
there are all kinds of people
doing all kinds of things.
Adventurers, guilds, taverns,
just gatherings of
merchants on the streets.
Do you think that Leonard would do anything?
How do you think you would go about gathering
more information or
talking to the people who live
here about this
artifact that has supposedly been
located nearby.
Well, I've got my
Looney Leonard podcast,
so we just invite
them onto the pod, do a little interview,
info that way.
I imagine that most people are willing to talk
to you, though in medieval times, the
idea of a podcast is probably beyond
most of these people.
You're going to be a witch.
you've got magical means to
transcribe information, and that's enough for people.
Um, all right.
So I'm going to roll some dice or if you have a, I can make your character quick.
I made professor doge because that's what I, I was just did, but I didn't make a Leonard character.
I will make a Leonard character.
Um, so yeah, you, so you go around the town interviewing people. I will make a Leonard character.
So, yeah, you... You go around the town interviewing people.
I'm going to roll the dice and see how good or bad that goes for you.
Because I assume you didn't get all that stuff.
Like I said, I don't even have the right character made for you.
So, in no way, you did it.
But no worries.
We can imagine for now.
I'm still going to roll dice on his sheets because I can.
Are you using D&D Beyond or do you have a real set of dice in front of you?
I'm just using D&D Beyond.
I ordered more real dice, because I
was looking through. I've only got...
Well, honestly, it's only a few sets of
dice, which, playing in real life with
friends, you need a whole bunch of dice.
Especially to run the
game, I roll a lot of dice
at a time.
link me the dice rolling
link? Because I don't have all the right dice.
Otherwise on D and D beyond,
like all you do is tap whatever it is and it rolls the right dice for you.
I'm trying to,
here we go.
D and D dice roller.
Nevermind.
I was looking for the link.
Also the link to like to make the characters or find your characters.
You already have a character made.
I can send you the link if you need it.
I need to log back in.
I'm going to go do that right now.
Well, you rolled a 12 plus 2 is 14, Mr. Leonard.
So you're very sociable. You're getting out there. You know,
you use your influence and your presence of, like, awe that comes with landing on a fancy
airship to impress these townsfolk. You learn lots of information about how dangerous the
woods could be, and that it's probably in some large underground ruin because this island is filled with various ruins of some ancient society.
There's still arguments of who or what built it,
but they know that these facilities are vast
and these people had mastered many crafts that are still being explored today.
So your character is going to spend some time talking to the townsfolk
and figuring out, you know, what's the best ways to get into the forest,
where is there some ruins you can get into.
Obviously, you could attempt to commission the airship,
but you're not, like, solely in charge of it.
You're largely, like like just a passenger.
You know what I mean?
Like it's fancy.
And so we're going to transition over to like one.
You, why do you think you come here looking for, for stuff?
Cardobsgate.
Juan, you. It's the Song of...
Oh, I'm so sorry, what do I...
Okay, can you repeat?
I was too busy figuring out the dice rolling thing.
I mean, did you read the intro?
I wrote something a long while back about this.
Well, we could go from that.
We'll find it and read it, I suppose.
I'm trying to find that,
but I can just make something else up because I really can't find it.
I thought it was going to show up in the comments easy,
but I'm not seeing it.
All right.
Well, also today you're going to meet different characters and stuff
relatively quickly.
As there's Leonard in the crowd.
But, I mean, you come to town, you probably came on, you know, a normal boat by sea.
I was on a normal boat.
I remember we talked about that.
We showed up, or I showed up on a normal boat, and the day in the life of me is rescuing people and healing them.
normal boat and the day in life of me is rescuing people and healing them.
And I heard about the artifact through the whispering of the woods and I saw that it
had immense power and I didn't, I don't want it to fall into the wrong hands.
to the wrong hands. And I want to be able to use it myself to one in my personal artifact collection,
and also would obviously use it in times of dire need. I wouldn't be using it just, you know,
willy nilly, all here and there, whenever it would be very intentional whenever I would use it because it's power and because you never know what the karmic kickbacks might be fall out because it
has the ability to do both good and evil um and I honestly wouldn't outright ask anybody
about it I would actually be more in this place of like observing and walking around
the Cardo's gate, just looking at the people and the beings and how they're all interacting with
one another. And I would listen to the conversations that I was closest to. and as I would catch wind of a conversation around the artifacts,
I would follow that lead, and based off what I would be hearing would be based off where
I would, you know, what my decisions would be.
Well, as you begin to, you know, observe the town. There's something that stands out a fair amount as,
you know, airship crests the eastern horizon and then settles itself near the gate, near
the docks, and people have come to town. There's a man who has very charismatic, seems to be
wealthy and influential, literally just sitting people down in the middle of town, asking them as many questions as they can.
Talking about day-to-day life, you know, things around the area.
So this seems to be one of the most powerful factions that is seeking the artifact.
That you don't really have any knowledge about.
So it probably piques your interest and draws you to
what would be the Crazy Leonard's podcast slash interview stuff that's going on.
As you see a turtle who's interviewing a number of locals
and anybody who basically gets close enough to the stage
that looks like they
might know anything about anything ends up getting pulled into these conversations.
But they build a fairly jolly story together. They all are sharing knowledge. Now, sorting
some of the truth from some of the fiction here also becomes challenging because the funner it gets, the more exaggerated people are telling stories and laughing together.
But it definitely seems like a good place to at least gather locals and stuff.
out and you have it on your screen if you can roll a oh I guess investigation
would be a good skill for this or perception so whatever one of those is
a higher skill for your character
Did it roll
Song of Oma you still with us
I muted myself by accident
I am with you
Sorry So I'm trying to, I'm looking for, I'm seeing, oh, passive perception, passive investigations at 15, and I need to know what dice I have to roll.
Well, if you look, there's a place that just has your skills listed, and then you'll have like a plus or minus something next to it.
If you just tap that number, it automatically rolls the D20.
Oh, hold on.
It's the bonus for you and stuff, which, you know, not that you're not able to add small numbers.
It's just nice that it does it all for you.
It shows perception.
It shows senses and then saving throws.
And then above that, strength, dexterity, constitution.
Am I on the right page or do I need to get on a different page?
Are you on your phone?
All right.
Then it's going to be on a different page.
On the desktop, it's all on one page.
But on the phone, there's going to be a skills section.
Sorry, I'm not trying to jam up the game, guys.
No stress.
I figured it out.
Okay, where we go?
Perception plus four.
It's rolling.
Okay, I got a 16 plus four.
16 plus 4. I got a 20.
I got a 20.
Look at that.
Look at that.
You looking around,
you see that there are people who are
basically just standing
around and learning what they can,
similar to you. And these
people would appear to be
the more influential
people that
are here in the streets.
Like, you know, like, the people who are
influential, who are, like are in their day jobs,
like the churches and the government officials and stuff,
these are the influential public figures
that might be entertainers,
they might be affiliated with wealthy merchant families
or possibly criminals.
As you're looking around,
there's a rather diverse group of people,
but some of them that are hanging back and just watching, you know,
the Wacky Leonard podcast are doing the same thing you are.
They're learning as much as they can while letting somebody else do as much of the work as possible.
You definitely see that some of these factions are people that are let would
you'd imagine would be less than reputable you know they don't look super
friendly they don't look like they are in this to be helping other people
necessarily but there is a lot of power and or money on the table so everybody
is whispering how they can get it in this fountain of information that's just
been presented to
a vast populace of people
is extraordinarily useful to everybody.
included is, again, you learn the same things
that were being taught to Leonard for the
most part. Ruins,
where they're at, what might be in them,
stuff like that.
Then, stuff like that. Then you,
your character stands there and watches the podcast for a while as Leonard does his job.
MK, who are you and why do you care?
why do you care?
You can pick a character you already have
or we can make a new one up.
Hello, hello. Hello, guys. Hello hello Sorry guys because
I'm you know my mother doesn't
Feel very good
I've never
Yeah if I could
Go later I would really
Appreciate James thank you
Absolutely This is supposed to be fun Don't you know If I could go later, I would really appreciate James. Thank you.
Absolutely.
This is supposed to be fun.
Don't, you know, keep your quality of life high.
This isn't supposed to take it. Thank you, brother.
I appreciate it.
All right.
Kerski, do you want to play with us when you have the time?
You're here.
Did you read the introduction
Of Cardob's Gate?
So who are you and why do you care?
I'm not going to play
I'm going to be an NPC
Fair enough
But if you need someone of Royalty 20
I have plenty of dice
Well maybe it'd be fun to get some
You can roll for some of the people who aren't rolling for themselves
That way they don't feel I'm just
Cheating them
The DM always rolls bad for me
I just always roll bad
That's not just for you
Alright found I just always roll bad. That's not just for you.
All right, found.
Who are you and why do you care?
I'm still Dark Star.
I'm not changing that, but...
Why do I care?
I guess because there's another paladin now
maybe he'll help me remember stuff i forgot so that could be my reason for caring
there you go you're like i gotta go learn paladin stuff um yeah or see if he recognizes me at all.
If he's also not afflicted with memory loss like I am.
Oh, he's like 300 plus
years old. I'm sure he's afflicted with memory
You know, it comes with
the territory.
So Darkstar probably also, he sees the podcast, the crazy Leonard's or wacky Leonard's podcast that goes on.
You see the paladin.
I also guess that Leonard is probably a paladin of truth.
Lies are bad news.
He learns information and he shares it with everybody freely.
Which, you know, in theory is great.
In practice, sometimes has some practical drawbacks.
like all those bad guys who now know more than they once did.
Like all those bad guys who now know more than they once did.
But after the podcast winds down,
Leonard, you see some interesting characters that didn't want to come up and speak.
One of them is a panda that stands on its back legs
and, you know, fairly nicely adorned
who have been intently listening to your show.
What do you think Leonard would say to
what appear to be your fans?
You're back, Jimmy.
GM, GM, I'm back.
Emergency situation.
I'm back with cracking.
If it's an emergency, handle life, bro.
No, it's okay.
It's handled.
It's good.
It's good. It's good.
Jack Lowe is having some challenges. I had to check in on my Britta.
He's doing okay now, though.
Yes, tell me. Tell me. What's next?
Okay. Here you go. Sorry.
You have done your podcast or your interview sessions here in the streets for a while. An audience has grown. You interviewed a bunch of people.
There were a number of interesting characters
that decided not to actually take part in interviews.
One of your potential fans is a panda,
about middle height of average for a human,
humanoid character,
who has intently been listening to the podcast
and observing the other audience members,
what would you say to your, you know, I guess you would imagine they're your fans,
or at least people who are interested in the topics,
the observers, the audience who have watched your show that is now concluded?
What are you going to tell your fans?
That's all, folks.
Thanks for watching
or listening
futuristic magic,
which we have teleported here
for your audio pleasure.
All right.
Is there anything
Juan, you would say
to Leonard off off air as he's done this podcast and gathered all this information?
I would ask if there was anybody that wanted to speak to him outside of the podcast. Like, didn't want to, you know,
speak to him in such a public setting.
Well, you're basically the first person he's talked to
after, like, they've gone off air kind of deal.
Because, like, you were just kind of standing there close by,
and you, by far, are the most interesting-looking character
in the audience.
Like, everybody else is,
your normal elves and dwarves and,
So when there's like a anthropomorphic panda stand in there,
the turtle is like,
there's another,
animal person.
Let's go talk to them.
That's an interesting fella,
But this is also where I didn't really write this in for your characters, but one of the things that probably comes up fairly early in your conversations with each other is points of origin.
Were you, like, because there's some animals that are, like, first generation, like, awoken by magic,
and then there's other ones that have been, like, born to families who have been awoken for generations.
And then there's other people who just fall through cracks in reality and get here.
So, like, you know.
But usually the anthropomorphic animals start to, you know, where did you come from?
Like, how did you get here?
Like, this place is, you know, not where everybody is from.
And if your characters didn't know that,
then Leonard,
Leonard would have known that because he lives on the airship,
which has other animals that collect there.
I'd say I'm the first of my generation.
I was born of magic.
So that's an interesting journey that Leonard will probably want to know more about later.
I don't really know Leonard's story either, but, and Jimmy is, Jimmy's here, he can tell us.
Is Leonard first generation, born of magic?
Is he born to
awoken, like,
intellectually awoken parents?
Is he from an alternate universe where he
fell through reality?
Jimmy, I think,
ended up as a listener.
Yeah, I see him as a speaker still, but I don't hear him speaking.
X is doing its thing then.
Well, we can continue.
Juan, you, and MK's story.
Leonard will continue to...
...for everybody.
All right, I'm back.
You guys can hear me now, right?
Can hear you now.
Okay, yes.
Alternate universe.
Lock it in.
Final answer.
All right.
In this universe, is everybody turtles?
Part tree, part turtle.
Definitely a mix.
Part turtle. Part turtle. That's the universe of tree people part turtle. Definitely a mix.
That's the universe of tree people and turtle people.
Does Leonard want to get back there, or is he happy
being here?
Making a difference here.
You know, he's pretty content.
He's got his whole pod thing going.
He's getting some traction.
Getting some traction.
Yeah, yeah. He's distributed his whole pod thing going. He's getting some traction. Getting some traction. Yeah, yeah.
It's distributed on the Magical Crystal Networks.
You know, people can scry on you from all over the place.
You know, probably got some deals going with John Carpenter's Home Goods.
They're passing them out for you.
Usually people don't have spells to scry on themselves,
but Leonard was like, we need this to help people.
So, you guys are standing there in the streets.
in the streets, you kind of have this brief conversation of icebreakers of points of origin.
You kind of have this brief conversation of icebreakers of points of origin.
There's a paladin nearby found, which is his character's name is Darkstar. I believe he's a
dark elven man. He looks like he's battle-hardened, but confused, kind of, like lost, but he does come up to Leonard and seek some sort of guidance
on his journey. He's forgotten a lot of his, a lot of what's happened to him in the past,
like he has memory problems, and now he needs to continue on his path of being a good paladin and doing the right things, but not knowing
who he is or where he's from
is possessing, is, you know,
putting forth a lot of challenges for
his character. Do you have any
advice for this?
I guess to you, it's still
a young paladin. You're old
as, you're very old.
Me? I'm the old one right yeah yes well
young whippersnappers
you wash the dishes
good advice
good advice
side note here which was fun for me
I played with Daniel
and he wanted to teach people to wash their
hands and I went
over a brief history of like the first person
who suggested that was I think they were
killed for it I'm not sure I'm sure it was gruesome
because that's what it used to be
but he was like you would life would be so much better.
And they're like, but we have magic and healers and stuff.
We don't need...
That was the true site he was starting in this medieval world.
So there's an anthropomorphic badger somewhere in town
trying to teach people to wash their hands as well.
Because he travels around on the airship too.
So, you guys kind of meet, you talk so found.
How does your character feel about the advice being general cleanliness and, you know, and that's the way to live life?
Well, it's not bad advice.
Wasn't really what I was looking for with my memory issues,
but I guess every little bit helps. So I thank the Elder,
and I proceed to go look for a river somewhere
so I can not just wash the dishes,
but wash myself in my armor.
All right.
There are available water sources
and bathhouses here
within the city
that have been built out.
So it's pretty easy to find a bathhouse
that's just a decent quality.
Water's clean, it smells good.
You may even have some flowers and stuff around.
So it's good to be there I guess while you're at the bathhouse cleaning yourself
and your armor the are you doing anything else there's like people around
you just focused on you know diligently spit shine in this armor. I'm focused on diligently
spit shining the armor.
Following my elders' advice.
Alright, so
MK has disconnected
for the moment, so we'll circle back
to Juan, you, and Leonard.
What are you guys doing?
I mean, there are other people here
in the crowd that Leonard could be talking to
All kinds of young children are
Extraordinarily excited to see you not necessarily care what you say, but you're you know a four-foot turtle man
You're interesting and exciting just to see
But other than
chat with the public and
do stuff, you've gathered a fair amount of information
on how to get there.
The relative dangers in the woods
are that of
described as
what I would describe to you as like a
prehistoric forest. There's a lot of
dangerous lizards
of various sizes.
Watch out.
You also being reptilian,
you know just how dangerous they can be.
So what is your next move
now that you've got some information about the general area?
You know the populace is relatively friendly, at least inside the fortifications.
You probably also heard not only the threats of the forest, but of the local area.
There are ruffians and bandits and stuff if you're not careful.
They say don't go places alone
so you don't get robbed.
Stuff like that.
What's up, Song of Home?
What are you guys going to do?
Right before you said not to go off on your own,
I was already thinking that I was going to ask
Leonard, the elder paladin turtle man,
Leonard the elder paladin turtle man to uh walk with me to see if we can find like a pub
where we can listen in and also you know I'm I'm a panda and I like to eat a lot
so I want to make sure I get my belly full as I take more information in a pub with
what do you got yeah I know this great pub that's got all the leaves perfect for your panda grub so
let's let's hit it let's get lit get lit get some stuff in ya Leonard does in
fact know where there is a like five-star restaurant that will make
panda themed cuisine for you he is from the Aurora which is where he lives so he
takes you back to where he generally lives which is a luxury suite on an airship. It's like a giant green glowing
dirigible. They basically fly around the world and make impact investments and help people.
He doesn't have as much... It's been a long time since he's been in the field, but now that he's getting up there,
he wants to get out there and do stuff again.
on this adventure.
But you guys go to this dining hall where they
bring you plates
of what you want. They bring you bamboo
that is shaped and flavored in
various ways with flowers and things
and fruits. I don't
know if pandas can eat fruits in real life, but... I think we can eat fruits. I don't know if pandas can eat fruits in real life.
I think we can eat
bamboo. I don't really know.
I don't think they eat fruit.
I think they just eat bamboo, honestly.
Yeah, I think that's all it eats, bamboo.
In the game.
potions I make,
but that's because I'm made of
magic, so I'm able to eat those, drink those.
Well, I also imagine that you can just eat other stuff.
It's a world of magic and wonder.
You could eat fruits and flowers.
That's all right.
And mushrooms.
No animals.
No, no animal for animals.
No animal byproducts.
I'm a vegetarian except for honey.
I like my honey.
I think a lot of turtles eat meat
but I don't know if all turtles
eat meat or tortoises.
All right, no, see?
No, no, this is a veggie, veggie tortoise over here.
Veggie tortoise, gotcha.
Occasionally pescatarian.
I'll eat a, I'll eat a, wait, I was going to say a worm, but that is definitely not a thing.
What is a worm?
Slug of the sea.
See, this is also...
I love these games. You explore things. You learn new things
all the time. It's fun.
If you figure out what the diet
of people who will eat bugs is, let me
know what they're called.
guys get served what is
basically the best prepared meals
of your, like,
specifically for your species
and your abilities to eat
and your flavor palates in this
very beautiful restaurant.
I think Juan Yu is more used to eating mushrooms in caves and things
as he wanders through the wilderness
and doesn't really seem to have a lot of desire for material things of the world
as much as this material, the artifact,
it's not as much as he desires it for himself
just make sure that it's not being used badly i seem to be the ultimate goal uh you guys would
have the same agreement and alignment that this is important and you know regardless of how it's
going to be used when once it's got we need to make sure it's not gotten by somebody who would
use it uh for something nefarious.
Because it could even be used to create
more awakened animals and things, potentially.
could have a lot of
ramifications, because they would be
basically blank slates that whoever
was awakening them could teach them,
make them however they
wanted, essentially, with
beliefs and things intact. So the ability to do such a thing could be devastating to
the power structures of the world, and ultimately cruel to these what were once free-willed
creatures that have been manipulated by magics.
One news story is probably more of being born of magic in the forest. I was alive. I wasn't alive, and then I was.
Where other stories are not as peaceful or as freeing.
Some of them are born into what is essentially slavery or some type of twisted belief structure.
And that's obviously something that Leonard believes would be bad and is to be avoided.
Juan Yu also agrees that that would be really bad.
We don't want any conscious beings being born into slavery or captivity.
Big facts.
Yeah, you guys. So you guys talk about it.
You guys are
in the dining
hall here, and
there are other characters around. I actually
had some friends come over that, in case
people couldn't play D&D, they were like, let's play
D&D. So they might make characters
and jump in, which will be fun.
But they've played a lot, so
I'm not worried about them missing
So you guys
talk about why it can't
go into these hands.
You probably talk about how dangerous
it sounded to go out there.
Various ways that you could do
scouting and that you could do scouting and uh that you could find
you know you guys got as much information from the from the general populace as you could but
it wasn't really that extraordinarily helpful than a few like other places of interest on the map
um and some tales that seemed exaggerated about what you might find there.
You guys are able to fill your bellies, but...
So what do you guys think?
Like, is there plans? Is there missions?
Do you guys try to get to know each other better?
like obviously the goal is to get to this artifact.
Like, obviously, the goal is to get to this artifact.
Do you think that we could find a shop that sells maps or a trinket that like,
that can be like a compass to help us detect this magical artifact?
Or is there a library we can do some research?
Any of those good ideas to you, Leonard?
Yo, what was the question?
So I proposed the idea of, you know, looking for a place that sells maps or trinkets that can help detect magic.
Or maybe you have one on your person already.
I don't know.
Or we can go to a library and do some research and or we can continue to
explore the area I'm adding one explore the area looking to talk to other interesting people that
actually know a little bit more than just the general exaggerated stories that we've come across already. Yeah, fresh out of trinkets, but
I reckon I do
know of a map provider
that can lead us to the promised
lands. Her name is
Mappy McMatheson.
she knows what's
up. She definitely knows what's up. So
hit her up.
Get to the bottom of this.
Miss McMaps.
She lives here on the ship.
She's a famous cartographer.
She likes to travel the world and make fancy maps.
She's really good at her job.
She's probably been already out about town
collecting these items.
As you guys walk to another
section of the ship, it is not nearly as ornate.
It's one of the lower levels.
Much less.
Much less fancy.
It's basically like.
Leonard's was like a giant sprawled out suite.
With fancy furniture.
And space to do stuff.
This is just like a hallway with rooms with beds in it.
It's kind of where this
lady lives.
And then she works aboard the ship as a navigator and,
and she freelances as a cartographer.
But her and Leonard are friendly.
She's happy to share what she's gathered from the town with you.
I'm going to tell you,
you guys kind of caught me.
I'm not done with the map.
So I'm going to tell you, you guys kind of caught me. I'm not done with the map. So, I'm sorry.
We can explore the town more.
Well, and it's not that I don't, but she will be, you know, providing
you with a basic map, but she's also going to ask you to find
more on-the-ground points of interest,
larger and smaller stuff, so we're going to fill in the map as we go some as well.
But the locals have the general map of the town and the surrounding area. Once you get into the
forest, there's a bunch of ancient ruins and city structures that aren't really well mapped out,
which she's interested in.
And she's gathering what she can from who she can.
But with the news of the artifact being found somewhere in the ruins.
Through scrying or whatever.
Everybody is being fairly tight lipped with their maps.
Of where the ruins and their entrances are.
And she's not about to pay them a bunch of money
for information that she can't verify.
You know, they're basically not trusted sources
with unverified information.
She's not going to start spending her money on it.
But if you guys will go out there
and you guys will, you know, track stuff down
and make better maps of the areas outside of civilization, then she would be
inclined to reward you for that. And once you come back with general stuff, she can
figure it out a little bit better. Also, Leonard has mastered people scrying on him,
and she can essentially watch and, you know,
fix things through.
So not only does Leonard have his podcast,
it will eventually be a,
interesting Truman show sort of thing,
possibly more interesting because he's on an adventure.
What's up song of home.
I'm wondering if I have any spells in my back pocket that can help me be able to detect entrances to the ruins myself.
Well, there are definitely detect magic spells that are low level that you could have selected as your character.
I think I don't know if I put your character together or if you did,
but you can edit it still at this point.
We haven't really done anything that's like,
no, you're still level one.
Just kind of figure out, you know, put stuff together,
choose the stuff that we're going to use.
yeah because having a detect magic spell in my back pocket would be useful when we start
exploring runes because i mean the reality is is everybody wants their hands on this artifact
some people it feels like are being paid by those that don't have the skill set to go out in such a
wild adventure um there's a lot of competition out there so it makes sense that people don't
want to share what they know when it comes to resources in navigating this land. Yeah, that is what she has come to find out.
Like, she's been in lots of places,
and it's usually not this hard to get people to share
what they know about the local area.
And if you can get the same information from a few places,
then she's happy to put it down on her maps.
But with everything, getting misinformation from some places and
information being so difficult, you guys are her best choice for, like, accuracy, which is very
important to her. Now, she did understand that there are several entrances to the west at a
central point where there's almost, like, a smaller encampment in the jungle.
She says that that entrance is, she's pretty sure that that's verified, like she got the
same thing from a couple people, but it's obviously well known, so it's unlikely that
the artifact is anywhere near that entrance. She also heard rumors that these caves and these
the artifact is anywhere near that entrance.
tunnels go on for great distances underground, so even if you go in at that entrance, you might be
able to find your way to where it might be. That said, it still creates the challenge of traveling underground instead of above ground.
It's harder to go the direction you want to go.
It's probably filled with more dangerous things.
So finding an entrance above ground would be better.
She also, since everybody's talking about this artifact, they did talk to the
Alchemist's Guild, the people who put out the notice. She says that she found, they
can tell you within a mile of where the item was located, that area has been thoroughly
scouted by their own people, and there is no entrance
within several miles.
And it is fairly
deep underground in a subterranean
basically,
she's like, they have no idea how to get to it.
That's why they're pointing it out. If they had an idea
how to actually get to this item,
and you might not even be able to get to the item is is one of the things she's pointing out um these
tunnels are collapsed it might take years of like archaeology and excavation before you can breach
the tunnel systems that you actually need to be in um this notice is like she's basically a
scientist and she's like this is enticing and, and, like, a smart person is, like, very enticing, but the reality is that this thing will probably still not be found for years and years.
Like, but any information is better than no information.
But it's still, at this point, just more of, like, we we confirmed an item exists and it's buried over here in the woods.
Um, she's sure that within a few years of nobody actually gets it, people will begin tunneling from directly above.
You know, how long that'll take, who knows.
um but you guys learn more about the surrounding area kardav's gate is the only
um like ship accessible port for like long ships to really bring goods in and off
in and out of the island uh there are a few small towns that have been carved into
There are a few small towns that have been carved into what are essentially prehistoric forests filled with dinosaurs and lizard men and cannibalistic orcs.
You guys learned about some of the stuff that lives out there.
It doesn't sound super friendly.
There's a reason why civilization here doesn't just expand into the wilderness.
You get some general warnings, like watch out for clearings in the jungle,
because that's where the bigger predators like the T-Rexes and stuff live.
It's enticing because you'll be able to move faster.
It's enticing because you'll be able to move faster.
So she also gives you a general bestiography of the animals that she's heard exist.
She's also heard about some of these animals in other parts of the world, so she believes some of them are real.
Some of them sound like they're made-up monsters that scare the locals.
sound like they're made-up monsters that scare the locals she's not sure what to
to make of it all but give you general warnings and asking you know miss
maps Lee for information was probably a good idea she seemed to be well informed
she was already out like let's talk to all the locals um there is apparently a tribe of people
who lives on the water near or several tribes of people who live on the water near the island as
well uh which she finds interesting that they are semi-nomadic um tribesmen that don't live on land. Not really relevant
information to you, but she still wants
to share it.
As you guys kind of
talked to Miss Mapsley for a little while.
If you have any more questions
about the area directly,
like things she may have learned, feel free to
ask them while you're here.
So, one question.
Does Leonard or I already own a compass?
And if not, can we procure one from Miss Mapsly?
That's my first question.
I believe they would be... One, you guys would already have one.
I think your character is also a druid,
which just in general has, like, no direction.
Like, if you do get lost, you can just be like,
oh, I magically know where I am.
Which is nice.
Oh, that's good.
I forgot I was a druid.
That aligns.
I think you were, like, a druid. That aligns. I think you were like a druid wizard
or something.
You were the powers of the universe.
Well, that was your goal.
And obviously, because I make the rules,
we can just make it happen.
We're going to do
the Gestalt rule variants.
A lot of the stuff we're going to have to fix or we're just going to have to know as we go through.
Because I use a lot of, like, I used a lot of homebrew rules.
So, like, we're going to use their website, but we're going to have to fill in a lot of blanks, guys.
That's far fun that way. One of the questions that I have for Ms. Mastri is when she was exploring and already talking to the townspeople and gathering the information that she shared,
was there anything unusual that she noticed or was told, but she didn't pay any attention or pay mind to it that might actually be of use when it comes to finding this artifact?
Um, I mean, mostly the, the, the danger of the woods appears to be exaggerated to her
because most of the places you guys have been in the world aren't as dangerous as these
guys say this place is.
Um, that said, they might not be exaggerating.
Some places in the world are extraordinarily dangerous.
This seems to be an isolated pocket.
She's actually, you know, where wildlife has been, you know, evolving or not evolving in various ways.
Obviously, there's not dinosaurs and stuff everywhere.
There's a lot of magic here,
which makes things a lot more unpredictable, she says.
And for that reason, probably dangerous.
And that's another thing.
This artifact itself has been seeping wild magic
into the world around it for centuries.
The closer you get to it, the more unstable reality as you know it becomes, because it's just been unfocused
magic that's seeping into the world. As you get closer to it, your wills and the wills of others could even become manifest as reality,
depending on how dense the magic has built up in areas.
She's suggesting as you get close to it, expect things to be weird, at the very least.
And that also is probably where some of the weird stories from the locals come from,
though those are always expected to be exaggerated.
That's actually very useful information.
Jimmy, do you have any...
Or Leonard, sorry.
Do you have any questions
that you want to ask Ms. Mapsley
her findings?
What is the...
Any shortcuts?
No, not that she's aware
she's asking you guys to go find the shortcuts
the easiest
thing that you might consider a shortcut
is you know taking
more people with you
um that has pros and cons
though obviously you have to be able to trust
these people also
you will move slower if
you take more people but dangers are different in groups like apparently there are lots of large
predators so it's the same deal you want to move fast you guys go in a small group if you want to move slow you'll go in a big group uh now in a
big group you move slowly and there is you know only big things will come but that means there's
almost guaranteed loss of life uh if you move quickly uh and quietly then that doesn't have to
be the case.
As she's just kind of helping you with general strategy of how do you get through the jungle.
It is a dense jungle, so go prepared.
You probably could pack light on the food
as long as you're good at surviving out there.
There's lots of things to eat.
You guys are both.
Herbivores.
And it is a dense jungle.
Filled with leaves.
And you know.
All kinds of.
Mushrooms.
Mushrooms.
All kinds of stuff.
And that's where it's.
All kinds of stuff. And that's where it's all kinds of food to eat out there
for you guys, or anybody, generally,
as long as you know how to or
willing to put in the work to
actually do it.
So, there's also several rivers that are reported to be in the area.
They all seem to flow, you know, outward to the ocean as normal.
They seem to be created from a centralized point somewhere near the center of the island.
point somewhere near the center of the island, which suggests some type of natural geysers
or possible magical creation. No sure things here either. This land, you guys are here to help explore it. You guys don't directly work for the City of Luminosity, but you do share knowledge and resources with them.
And they have an interest in magical items, locations, things, plants.
All those glowing flowers and things
are from the queen's garden
or things she's had people collect.
Like those NFTs you guys have.
Are they from Lunaris Hollow or something else?
I'm sorry.
Well, honestly,
basically the queen of luminosity collects rare and fabulous plants.
So it's essentially just stuff that's being collected from all over the world, usually.
Like, most of them.
Like, some of the stuff's from Luminum Hollow.
Some of it's just from the Glowing Groves.
There's a bunch of locations I've made that have stuff like that in them.
There's a bunch of locations I've made that have stuff like that in them.
And then the collection.
I'm going to eventually do just a garden collection and stuff.
Now that I'm figuring out how I can do the game stuff better.
But that's not what we're here for today.
What's up, Sonofo?
So, speaking of the size of our group
i i don't know if either of us have the ability to fly
like if we got magic or we got a little doohickey contraption that can help us like fly over things but because there seems to be
more animal humanoid uh beings in this area that I've seen in a while um I'm wondering if we can
find somebody that has wings that can fly and if we can keep our group to like maybe two well to three people tops so that we can travel
stealthily but also have eyes of like being able to see the land downward um i mean i don't i mean
i guess leonard doesn't have a problem of flying he lives on an airship i think the problem does
become logistic because le because Leonard is fairly heavy.
And, like, if he's going somewhere that's dangerous,
he's probably going to wear armor, which is heavy.
you guys probably leave the airship
as you confront this problem. The only way to
actually confront it is to go
out into public. There is
a freshly polished
and clean, he smells like lavender and roses,
Darkstar, the paladin who is searching for his way. Basically, he did what the elders
suggested, and he's going to try to maintain his level of cleanliness above where he may have previously. But he's there to help you guys out along the way.
So, as you guys see each of these, is there anything you say?
I'm curious if Darkstar knows
I'm curious if Darkstar knows where we can,
where we can
or if he has any memory
of the best
how does the words I'm trying to
does he have experience
in being able to
or investigate land
I don't know what the word is
that I'm trying to say
but I'm curious what his
experiences are in like
tracking and
moving on land
I don't know much about tracking or cartography, but I'm very stealthy.
I am half wizard, half paladin, so luckily I do have magic, I do have strength. So I think what we should do is pick the closest direction, map face, am I saying that right?
Centers and start exploring from there.
Well, part of the
intel she gave us was that there are known
entrances in the West. There is
other ruins on other
sides like the North, the south, the east, but the entrances to those, we can decide if we want to take the route that, you know,
is easily accessible in the West where we know where the entrances are,
or do we want to explore by going a different direction
and see if we can find the artifacts that way.
Like, would we want to come from the south, the west, the east, or the north?
The west is where...
The east of the ocean where you guys came in on the docks.
Oh, thank you. I guess we can't go any farther east.
So, north And south and west
Are directional choices
And the west is the most
So those are our choices
Where do you guys
Want to go
How do you want to enter
We could start with the most
explored section,
which is the west.
Because with our skills,
it would probably be easiest to find the way
From what our
storytelling
has shared is that the artifact most likely not there and we could
possibly be able to find it underground but we would have but that leads to a lot of danger as
well i mean and i think any direction we go there's gonna going to be some danger, but there's going to be more people
and more competition if we take the popular route that's busy and that's already been explored
and nothing's been found. I think that we could avoid possible run-ins with bad folks.
Like, not saying that the South or the North won't have anything
hairy to come across, but
there'll be less people.
So, I'm...
I feel like we should try to go
a different direction than going
through the movements, but I want
you guys... How do you
feel about the North?
North works for me, Jimmy. What do you think? Or Leonard, what do you feel about the north? North works for me, Jimmy.
What do you think?
Or Leonard, what do you think?
Elder Paladin, what direction?
Oh, he's a listener now.
So you guys think the north? And then the north does north does like curve to the west slowly but you can leave
What is card off gate to the north?
There are also several
What are like small like?
Villages they still have like defensive palisade walls and stuff like that.
They still are defensive structures around them, but the city has big stone walls.
These are smaller wooden defenses with farmland and stuff behind them as you travel out of the city immediately to the north.
find them as you travel out of the city immediately to the north.
I'm going to say it's a couple days travel before you actually hit the jungle in the
last of the Palisades, which is there anything you guys do while you walk for...
I'm going to roll dice to see how your walk actually goes, but are you guys doing anything
while you're walking through farmland?
I'm definitely collecting intel if anybody's heard or seen of anything
unusual because of what this artifact does i because it from what you were saying is that
it's been seeping magic into the land around it and that it uh can influence one's will to become
a reality so i definitely be paying attention to people's stories.
And because it's a couple days walk,
we could possibly run into somebody that has an unusual story.
Maybe somebody that is scared of something that happened unusual.
And I'm not talking about the crazy
monsters or the cannibal orcs i'm thinking something like really unusual that just isn't
the regular uh wild creature experience what do you think uh dark star start. Yeah, I think that's a good idea. We can talk to the locals.
And as we're walking, I think I can cast a detect magic just so we know it's.
Yes, there's magical traps or magical disturbances in the direction we're moving it.
That's a good idea.
What is your passive investigation and roll an investigation check for?
I mean check.
Whoever wants to do stuff.
My passive investigation is plus three.
Should I roll for it?
Yeah, I mean, you could always get better than a 10 on the dice.
I just wanted the passive so you get at least least that because i don't have them written i rolled an eight so i got an 11
on the in total all right well your passive is higher so that's what we'll use um you guys
as you're walking through like you're taking you're kind of taking a little extra time to
talk to the locals.
A lot of people just rushed out to get into the dungeons and start exploring for the treasure.
You guys are like, yeah, there's a lot of people.
You found out it's not going to be a quick thing.
No reason to rush.
Let some of the monsters be cleared out.
Let some of the paths be blazed. Let some of the paths be blazed.
Anyway, you're leaving out of town.
Somebody else was like, I'm going that way.
So you guys talk to these locals. You find some weird stories about stuff that's not really about the artifact,
but it's also weird that people are talking about something other than what everybody else is talking about. One of the farmers in the Southland had a flood and a bunch of
his land and his crops destroyed, so he's trying to go around and get people to help
him. And that's not the weird... The unexpected flood was obviously weird, but now none of his donkeys will work, and there is
some sort of protest going on,
and he's not sure,
like, it's just a weird story.
Like, some of the people are like, the donkey,
like, there's an uprising of, like, farm
animals, apparently.
And there, it's just kind of, the farmers are kind of
talking about it. It hasn't really gotten
to anybody outside of
the farmer circles yet.
Though they do seem to be clamoring
enough that eventually somebody important
do something about it, you'd
So, what do you, does that story have any interest to you guys?
What's it mean?
Well, the fact that you said that it's in the south that this happened,
it makes me think that maybe we're heading in the wrong direction going north.
I think that maybe we were heading in the wrong direction going north.
Because of the fact that the farm animals are rebelling and it's making it difficult for the farmers.
There's something there because, you know, these non-magical creatures, they usually are well-trained or well-behaved.
You know, usually cows just do their cow thing and donkeys do their donkey thing, but they're rebelling.
So something's giving life to this rebellion, and it doesn't seem natural.
So it seems more magically based.
What do you think Darkstar?
I think you're right that the artifact is probably in the south.
So do you think we should turn around and go south
or continue exploring north and see what we come up with?
I think we should start heading north,
or sorry, start heading south.
Like, we should follow some of these stories
and investigate.
James, can I cast another investigation?
It's free world.
I mean, as long as you got spells to cast, use them up.
We are going to do a different healing system than the 5e this time.
I like the 3-5 slash homebrewed rules from there.
five slash homebrewed rules from there.
Short rests basically don't exist,
and long rests only give you a small fraction of your hit points back.
So magic and endurance become...
It allows there to be more depth to the story than, you know,
the story then you know i'm a superhero that gets up every day and saves the world okay i cast a 10
I'm a superhero that gets up every day and saves the world.
for investigation
so does that tell us anything about us turning around um well the farmers are obviously this is
big news to them and they're excited there's's a lot of them that are worried about like, what if their animals start to like not want to work?
And like, what if they, you know, what if this is an issue that's not just isolated?
Like there's also people who are like, it's just fucking nonsense.
it's just fucking nonsense and you just you're wasting your time because you know some of them
And you just, you're wasting your time.
are like traveling miles away from home to substantiate a claim like this isn't something
that every farmer's gonna do you know what i mean uh there's a bunch of people who are saying it's
not real but there's enough people who are saying it's real and like people are talking about it
that like you guys are pretty sure that it happened, as you talk to a bunch of different farmers and get, you know, variations of basically the same story.
You don't know if it's related to the artifact, right?
You don't, like, you know that it is a magical anomaly definitely took place.
Like, your character has an intelligence, like, he looks back through, like,
his memories that he has and, like, what he can tell about the world, and he's learned since he's, you know, started to remember things again.
You can definitely tell that a magic anomaly took place.
There's nothing that necessarily links this to the artifact, because this place seems to have a number of magic anomalies that take place at various times, possibly all stemming from that artifact.
Possibly there's a large number of artifacts lost
out here in the woods. And that's one of the only reasons
that the large presence of the Alchemist Guilds and the
Wizard College and things like that are even here.
You're not an expert of, you know, civilization,
why we build it, where we build it.
But you know there's a reason that the rich people come here and build things.
And, I mean, it's not... If it's as dangerous as they say it is, it has to be enticing.
And this artifact, you know, is one of many things that
people are probably after in this forest. This one is just like the Holy Grail kind of thing.
You know, there's a whole bunch of things that's like, oh, you could have, you know, this wand of
power, but that's not what we're looking for today. There's all this, like, here's a chalice of, you
know, mastery of this or, you know, things of all over
the place. Um, but
today the news was this specific
so you, that's what you kind of piece together
with investigating and talking to the
farmers, is like, oh
yeah, they're fucking, they let, they put, they
print it in the newspaper, everybody's excited, but
I mean, our grandfathers
told us stories about it. Like, the farmers aren't excited about the news of the artifact. Everybody's excited, but our grandfather's told us stories about it. The farmers aren't
excited about the news of the
artifact being
proven to be real.
They're like, yeah, we believe it's been real for
generations. It doesn't mean anybody's going to go
find it. It doesn't mean that
things around here change in any meaningful
way. To the farmers, it
means that there's going to be a bunch of cheap
meat to compete with in the markets
and, you know,
less mouths to feed because people
are dying. This is bad for
business as far as they're concerned.
Go back to town, drink
your ale, you know.
That's their advice.
Oh, sorry, did you want to say something, Darkstar?
No, no, go ahead
Can we actually trust the Alchemist Guild?
Like, do we really want this artifact in their hands?
You guys didn't really go learn anything about them
We should have probably done it about them. No.
We should have probably done.
Or you could ask the farmers what they think.
Oh, that's a good idea.
Do we need to roll for that?
Just take a 10 for, like, role-playing
sake, or you can roll to see if you want to try to, like, do better.
But if you roll, you're going to take what you get.
So do you gamble or just roll with the story?
That's the game.
it's up to you do you want to take a 10 and you want to roll the dice
It's up to you.
Do you want to take a 10 or do you want to roll the dice?
now when you're in danger or there's dire consequences for failure you have
to roll the dice but generally in role-playing if you don't want to roll
the dice you just can take a 10
what about you mr. Leonard as you've been walking around listening to the farmers?
They don't think people should be running off in the woods and into the caves.
Jim, Jim, went on a bit of a side quest there, chasing butterflies.
Can't go in the caves.
They don't know me, son.
I got my armor ready to grow.
I'm feeling, uh, you know, very confident because, uh, I might be slow, but we are steady winning this race into the caves. Okay. So do you want to continue north along the mountain ridge, or do you want to go investigate the anomalies in the farmlands to the south?
I'm an anomaly chaser kind of guy, so south.
We're all in a unanimous agreement then. That's good.
Alright, so you guys are like,
all right, let's head south and check on what these farmers are gabbing about.
Glad you guys roll some checks as you walk along, I suppose.
You do find out that the latest news of this one newest, greatest thing,
the general population isn't nearly as excited as everybody who is like heroes or positions of
power like the idea it could be found is very tantalizing but a lot of people also go back to
just like what normal work is you know like it's fairy tales and fantasy um it's not something that
they expect everybody to do it takes you like another day of walking, you know, half a day walking back south to Cardov's Gate, you know, the main part of the city proper there.
It's easy enough to find, you're close enough to Leonard's place that you can probably even just stay at the airship. He's got plenty of room.
He's generally a pretty generous guy.
Then you guys head off into the south out into
the farmland you guys have about a day's travel before you can get to where the
farmers said that this thing happened as you get closer it is undoubtedly
undoubtedly weird here people are beginning to congregate, moving south. There are a number of
different farmers and things. There are interesting folks that are moving along the path as well.
As you guys get to the south, you see that there has been what is essentially like a barricaded area and a number of of people on
both sides of it kind of clamoring at each other and behind it there's a bunch of different farm
animals who are walking around um wearing various like different pieces of clothing, but none of them seem to be fully dressed.
And they also seem to be distraught.
Some of them making noises, some of them more speaking.
So what do you guys do as you approach this scene?
I want to go talk to the animals that have the ability to talk and see what went on.
What do you guys want to do?
I'm following you. I love the animals.
Let's get it.
Okay, let's go talk to the animals.
Alright, will somebody give me a charisma or diplomacy check?
Roll the dice, tell me what you get.
Sam, can you do that?
Or you need me to?
I don't have my roll dice.
I'm doing it. So you want me to do a...
What did you want me to roll, Jimmy?
Persuasion?
Persuasion.
Yeah, persuasion or charisma.
I don't have charisma showing up. Charisma. I don't
have charisma showing up on my thing.
I don't know why. Radio, persuasion
it is. I got a 19.
Yo, let's go with what you have because
my persuasion was really bad.
Well, the paladin stroll
up with the air of authority they're like hey hey hey everybody
calm down what's going on here um well the farmers are all distraught that lots of their
crops have been destroyed and many of their animals are now refusing to work uh they can't
plow the fields they can't plant the food, there's going to be big issues for them,
but also, like, everybody else who lives here eventually,
like, price of food, you know?
Who doesn't that affect?
The animals are largely confused
and feel like this place is terrible and unjust and they want out.
I have an animal handling dice roll.
Do you guys think I should use it to try to, like, convince the animals to calm down
and we can, you know, maybe talk things out and figure out what happened.
Yes, let's do it.
I rolled an 11.
I've also got a
dial call I'm supposed to be on right now, so I'm going to try
to multitask, but I'm here.
I love it.
That's the big guy.
He's got his crystals open, wheeling and
So, what does my animal
handling roll of Eleven get us?
Well, the guy here, or the horse that's here, is insulted.
He feels like you don't understand and that you are, like, you don't look like them, but you're treating them pretty much the same as they are.
They want out.
Or things have changed.
So they don't,
even though I'm an animal,
they don't see me as an animal.
they first,
but then you started to like treat them like animals and they're like,
they're fucked up.
I fucked up. Like animals and they're like
Like a person I guess right which is like we are people too
But again like a couple a week ago that none of these had
Consciousness to be like we are people and all of a sudden a lot of them do and they're like wait this is not a good place to live
like no this is not what
I want to do with my
they're like we've been living in captivity
and we're slaves and we want to be free
oh goodness
also like I rolled to see
like if they could tell us what happened
too but the
horse resulted.
So I must have asked my question really terribly.
Yeah, well, it's just the way you interact with them.
They're very much like, no, we're going to try to do this.
And, like, you being, they'll be forgiving to the point that you're not, like, get away from me.
We're not going to do this.
It's time to fight.
But they're not excited to let you in to like talk to other people so you're kind of here at the what has become a barricade
for a little while and there are definitely people on both sides of it as far as like
regular humans and elves and stuff who are like here's what you know we think should happen some
people are like pro liberation of these animals slash
people. Other people
are like, no, they got, that's, you know,
I can't afford that.
It's basically the farmer's side of it.
three. Oh, you go. Sorry,
Darkstar. I rolled a 17.
Will that help our situation
any, Or will they
look at us as treating them more like animals?
And you hold an air of authority
as a paladin.
They do...
They'll let you in to try to...
Basically, they're like,
we'll let you guys talk to somebody
who's not the guy at the line.
The people at the line are very agitated, you know what I mean?
They're, like, standing there trying to make sure nobody's fighting each other,
but they're all kind of, like, worked up in, like, pre-fight kind of, like, insults.
And, like, you know, there are also some town guards that have assembled
to try to, like, get people to settle down.
This does indicate that eventually there will be people of authority that show up and ultimately make a decision.
One way or another if it's not resolved on its own by the public within a reasonable time.
Is there any way we can use magic to calm both sides down um you guys are basically just with
with uh dark stars roll uh guided past what is like a riot lines uh to a barn that has been
uh things have been thrown at it you can see that things have been smashed around the outside of it.
Inside the barn, there stands a bunch of different people,
and there's some animals who are all kind of perched around,
talking and listening to one another as, you know,
as if like congregated, sharing ideas, concerns.
Also, a lot of them are still just kind of scared
and trying to figure it out.
And the guy in the middle on a podium
that has been built there,
it's kind of like a little perch.
There stands a well-justed chicken
who seems to be in charge of this liberation movement.
He and his family has been unjustly enslaved,
captivity set for slaughter.
He's willing to die fighting,
whatever that means.
As a chicken,
there's not a lot he feels he can do.
His horse brethren, though,
he's got faith in them
if it comes to it.
What's up?
I don't know if you'll believe me,
but I swear to God,
before you said there was a chicken at the podium, I was thinking of a chicken at the podium.
I don't know, I just know, like, that's great. It was a chicken.
Dark Star, what do you think we should do, because I'm over here cracking up was a chicken. Dark Star, what do you think
we should do? Because I'm over here cracking up
about the chicken.
I think we should ask the chicken
if there's anything
we can do to help.
we should see if he can give us
any more information
about where this consciousness thing started
or how far away they think the distance spreads.
That's a great, great idea.
This chick is incredibly charismatic.
As you guys enter the room,
he hails you as brothers and allies from the other side of the picket lines.
Here to help in the liberation and the justice of the free people of the barnyard.
As you begin to question him, he's very quickly to suggest that you guys will go off and talk in a less, you know, announcing everything to the world kind of way.
He jumps down off of his podium. There is a large hog that he jumps on the back who is wearing
what is like a leather vest of sorts, and he begins to walk with the chicken who kind of nods his head and encourages you to follow.
As you guys, I assume, follow the chicken back to the back of the barn
where there's some stalls and some stuff set up.
You can see that there's a number of logbooks
and would have been basically the business logs of the farmer before
event took place. And they've been
going through how
animals have been sold
and slaughtered for years.
The records were fairly well kept.
Which is infuriating
to these animals that
we don't really understand.
But the chicken begins to explain that there was a great flood.
And basically, that's what everybody remembers.
It started at the flood.
And after the flood, they gathered us up and put us in cages.
And the horses were the first to break free um you know they
size and strong and they were expected to to do work um and i guess there was just
there then nobody knew what was going on uh they were just yelling at us um he does say
that there were a few people hurt you you know, when it all went down.
You know, he's hoping that there's some way that they'll be forgiven for this,
but that his side is pretty passionate about not going back to what that was.
They don't understand why these things happen,
but they're interested in not being part of it at the moment.
I mean, I agree with them.
They have consciousness, and nobody wants
to be a slave,
let alone murdered for food,
and be aware that
that's what's happening.
So, how can
we support them and also
can we ask if they noticed if the chicken or the pig or any of the horses that they are in
commune with if they noticed anything about the water if they noticed anything about the water,
if they noticed anything about the land when
they started coming to consciousness?
He says, honestly, they've been caught in conflict
since their first memories.
And they don't really know what would be
considered weird or odd
beyond what has
already transpired.
These people's consciousness
started like
a week ago. Whatever is
happening now is normal to them.
though they don't like it
Though they don't like it.
like they're like this shouldn't be normal
They're like, this shouldn't
be normal.
I definitely agree
what was it
now I think
next thing we should ask
is one how we can help
liberate these conscious
animals and then the second thing is to
ask the local floods came from that happened a week ago that way we can pinpoint color i suspect point because what I suspect is the flood water washed part of the magic over onto this farm.
So if we know what direction exactly that the waters were coming from we can kind of narrow
our search and it might make it a little easy to do a perception check for magic.
trick for magic.
complete agreement of that.
Well, the chicken is not withholding
any information. He tells you
he's not withholding information he has,
but he doesn't know where the waters came from
nor where they went,
only that they were here.
You would have to talk to somebody else to find out that information.
He does say that this plight, from what he can tell and what he gathers, has a lot to do with these books, you know? So, um, he'd like you guys to help figure it out. Okay. So on one aspect, because there was a flood, usually you can see
remnants of the direction of the water naturally without having to
ask anybody.
That's one thing.
And because the chicken is aware that the way things were not how he wants
them to be,
and he wants them to be liberated,
but he doesn't really,
besides being liberated,
there's nothing else that he really wants help with?
I mean, he realized that he had consciousness a few days ago and was able to communicate with the other animals and the humans eventually after practicing speaking.
His family is not amongst the most respected or in the greatest position I
guess his goal is to not have whatever this is happening to his family again
he's not insightful to the world like he has no idea what happens beyond the
barricade or outside of the farm there was a. He was put in cages. They killed some of his family. They rioted.
You know, and this is, from the other side of it, you would be knowledgeable enough,
like there was a flood. A lot of stuff was damaged and broken. They harvested some of the
chickens afterwards, which sometimes they do it because there's not enough grain stores left and, like,
they gotta manage the herd. Sometimes they do it because the humans themselves and food stocks have
run low. Like, you would be aware, like, why, like, this process took place as far as, like,
the human civilization's function. Now, like, even that is kind of beyond, you know, what was the scope of understanding that happened.
You know what I mean?
Even that you were like, they ate them, that probably makes them even feel a little bit
better about the whole scenario.
Like, at least there was some reason that, like, this happened.
That it wasn't just, you know, for no reason at all.
Not that it's enough of a reason that he's like, I'm going to let it continue.
But he's like, okay, like, there's a reason.
But there seems to be reason beyond that.
Like, hidden within these documents, with your general knowledge of the world, are relatively easily understood.
knowledge of the world are relatively easily understood.
Like, they understood them enough that, like, they were trading for things
and exchanging things for their relatives, as it were,
and that this slaughter took place after they were aware of it.
But your knowledge of, like, general arithmetic and, like,
how the world works can understand that this is largely an economic
issue for these farmers. Like this was a way of life for them. They provide city to the food,
like food to the city. The city protects, you know, everybody like those walls stand,
those guards are there. Um, like, and even in the time you guys have been here,
more guards are showing up to try to, um, understand the scenario to a better degree.
you know, like,
olearchy kind of way, which seems to be traditional medieval standards,
that these animals don't really have a lot to do with, like,
fair trials and existence.
But, I mean, humans aren't really treated that great,
like, in general, you know what I mean? It's medieval times.
People are put in cages and murdered for not doing what they're supposed to do.
So, like, these animals, you're like,
all right, well, let's see if we can at least get you to that.
That human standard seemed to be a very standard goal
across the map for these ones.
Your characters realize that that means money for these farmers.
That means crops.
That means that they're going to want to restart their businesses
you know, keeping the populace fed. And if they don't, then the whole, you know, the whole economic
structure of the island does shift and causes hardship for a great, great many people,
possibly even people who live off of the island and the surrounding islands,
because this place seems to be well-established and produces a fair amount of food.
So, like, both sides of this seem to have a fair, you know, plight in the world,
and you as heroes that come to investigate, what is your goal?
what is your goal?
What is your motive here? What are you going to do?
What are you going to do?
Is there a way we can bring in non-conscious animals
to help the farmers and free the animals that have consciousness?
Are the animals that have consciousness going to be upset
that we feed unconscious animals to the farmers?
feel like this is that, you know,
ethical dilemmas of the reality
of the world. These...
Your characters, given
the ability to negotiate with both sides,
realize that it is...
Again, it's an economic issue. Yes, you could get
animals to replace them.
The moral issue of
it is, like, the animal keeping is so
bad you realize that you can't really confront that in any real way that's going to be meaningful
or change society um while there's people with pitchforks and you know riots going on um you
know that's not the time to be like eat right and exercise in a general sense so it when you're
like can we do this and things it does become yes it's possible but where do you
get the finance finances to do something like that becomes the question so you
guys look for a way to source these animals, to do this, to help alleviate the farmers' struggles?
Or do you, you know, draw blades?
What's your MO?
Can we just free the animals and piss the farmers off?
Oh, wait, no, there's repercussions that could reach out to other islands.
Dark Star, do you have any ideas?
I want to free the animals.
At least the conscious ones.
I think we should talk to the farmers and tell them we'll help them gather more animals once we're finished with what we're doing to the south.
And try and cool the tensions down between the striking animals and striking humans.
So we kind of negotiate some sort of ceasefire
while we travel south.
Charisma and persuasion.
One or the other.
Whatever one's better.
Okay, one second.
My persuasion is bad.
It's a four.
And I don't have charisma, apparently, as a panda.
You're very emotional at the moment.
You're like fuckers go. You're basically joining at the moment. You're like fuckers go.
You're basically joining the riot lines.
You're not being very helpful.
How do you roll next time?
I'm not good at staying in character because I keep laughing.
My charisma was 19 and my persuasion was 6.
I think we'll go with charisma.
Okay, yeah.
You're supposed to just kind of pick which one,
but you went with that one first anyway,
so that's the one we're going to use.
So, yeah, you are very charismatic.
Let's just do a ceasefire.
You're going to try to help the farmers.
You know, these guys are scared and confused.
You don't really want anybody else getting hurt.
The farmers are like, okay, we don't really want people getting hurt.
The guards are also like, yeah, we don't really want people hurt.
It still comes down to the farmers.
They basically are like, we don't really have time to wait for you to do whatever you're doing.
The crops need replanted. like the flood destroyed stuff if we don't get back to
work like immediately people starve like not only their families but other
people's families like that's and that's another reason why this whole thing is
in like they're like it great we want that sure reality
comes back that every day we do this people get hungrier every day that this isn't resolved there's
you know that's where the leader of the the farmers comes to you it's like yeah this is what we want
too but the reality is is like i can't control everybody forever. Okay.
My other suggestion, if I'm still using my charisma, is we convince the drought animals, like the horses and the cows and the bulls, to help the farmers with the plowing for pay in grain and convince the farmers to hold off
slaughtering any other conscious animals for food so that the animals are
basically working for pay but pay in food instead of in money and that
hopefully by this time to go finish what we're doing.
Okay. So you basically suggest that you will explain
to the animals and
to the farmers that they will... Most of the farmers
also work for food and barter.
Like, money is only exchanged by
rich people in these societies,
which includes you guys.
Usually most of the
so they're like, okay, so we just
have to treat them like
they have to explain the system and not
kill any of them. They do wonder
how the chickens and those become
useful, like why they should feed them.
Like the animals
that generally they were here for
solely for meat
production or things like that.
They're like, how do we...
We're not saying that...
They're just like, okay, everybody
eat. Get that. What jobs are we
giving these guys? They're not saying
no. They're saying, help us.
The chickens, I try and convince
them they will help with pests and
weed control. Yeah, exactly.
The chickens are going to help with the pest
and they get their food naturally,
eating the pests.
Alright, so
we don't really have to pay the chickens,
we just need to not kill the chickens.
You probably can figure that managed out
with other farmers and stuff.
He says it is a big change,
and people aren't going to like it,
they'll try to make it work.
And of course you have to get the animals to agree to it as well.
as like the foreman here around the farm is like,
we got to get back to work.
If that's what it takes,
we'll see if we can make it work.
But the animals have to agree to that as well.
Like, you're only talking to one side of the fence.
So if you want to go back and negotiate with General Clucks, you can have a conversation with him.
I have a question about the chickens.
What's that?
What's that?
So, since that they've become
conscious,
have any of them laid any eggs?
And is there any effect
on the eggs?
And are the
conscious chicken eggs
And are the chickens okay
with giving
their eggs up?
Well, this is a thing that Leonard would probably know,
because he's talked to a lot of different anthropomorphic animals
and collected backstories across the Aurora,
that there is a chance that they could be sentient.
be sentient. There's also a chance they could just be normal chickens. This has created issues with
There's also a chance they could just be normal chickens.
people, you know, organizations, civilizations, things in the past, you know, where there's,
like, royal families of, like, fancy leopards or something, and then they have a child who's
literally just a wild animal. Like, it's not terrible as far as what
is in the world,
but as far as society
views it, it's usually considered
less than ideal.
is vast and cruel as it is.
Chances that these chickens,
even Santian or not, have a good life out there.
Leonard would also know that gnomes have no known civilizations left.
You know, they, small, not able to defend themselves from the powers that be in the world have vanished. So, you know, they either have to
find place amongst the larger
fate will find them much the same.
Would be wisdom
that he has from being 300
years old.
We need to go to
Captain Clux's name.
I rolled a 20 for charisma.
So I'm pretty confident we can convince Captain Cluck to agree to labor like the humans do,
as long as they're not eaten
well he is like of course you rolled really well he's a little bit concerned
that it won't work out as you know hesitant to agree to such a deal but as
long as his people will be treated you know with with respect amongst the Crowns and do the works, then he's happy to continue
to live amongst them as long as he's not under threat of death, which is their first and
foremost concern. He looks up to you, you came in here as an authority is like we're gonna help you
and this is kind of the problem he's like all right here's this you gave him the solution uh the farm animals he goes out to his podium he gets up there he begins to announce that
they are going to um they're not going to kill it like the humans have agreed not to kill any of us
but we do need to return to
work in exchange
for grains
and shelter
and protections that they
otherwise would be providing us
there is some of them that feed back
amongst the animals that they've never seen
any of the dangers of the world because the farmers kept kept the only danger in the world
is the farmer as far as most of these things are aware like there are there even things this is
are they lying to us uh with your 20 i'm going to say it carries over to the crowd where you
reassure them that the world is filled with things that would not hesitate to consume them,
that no such deal could be struck,
and the walls keep that deal intact, and they are maintaining the walls.
You have some memories of what you've done in your life,
the trails you've come,
hordes of creatures that would eat humans as well
as any of these animals so those tales of nightmares beyond the gate kind of
reassure those animals from a party that came in and was like I don't want to see
you guys come to harm was like this is this is very real and even though
there's murmurs amongst them they settle down and agree to the
deal and as as song said you guys can see the farmlands destruction in which
ways the waters came from and swept there are a number of trees and things
still in the fields that need to be cleaned up before the fields are even plowed and planted.
The water had come from the south...
You know, south-southwest.
Oh, no, it would be south-southeast.
It would be south-southwest.
Yeah, it comes from towards the ocean,
but there's a mountain range, like cliffs that surround the island
So like in the edge of the mountains there
There was something that gave way
So let me look at the map, let me see where it came from
I was going to say, is there a way that you can post the map on the top
In the garden?
I'm still working on it, but yeah.
Okay. I know you're
working on it, but I just thought I would.
No, I do want to
share it with you. Sorry I didn't do more work yesterday,
guys. It's okay.
I'm grateful to be here
and I'm having fun and laughing.
I'm having lots of fun doing with me, please.
Yeah, chicken telepathy.
Well, this is also where you begin to learn that some of these animals do have magical capabilities
and are more capable than even some of these.
You know, they've essentially become sentient and sorcerers to some degree, some of them.
become sentient and sorcerers to some degree, some of them.
Is there any geese among this group of animals?
And are any of them laying golden eggs?
No. No such luck.
Sentient chickens who seem to be good at, you know,
organizing and moving things about to where they need them to be.
As, you know, organizing and moving things about to where they need them to be. As, you know, sorcerer chickens,
they do have the ability to, what's
essentially mage hand stuff,
telepathic, you know, pick stuff up,
move it around.
Telekinesis.
Telekinesis, yeah. So you've got a bunch of chickens
with telekinesis, and
a bunch of talking horses and mules.
Even the chickens, how are they going to be useful?
They seem to be fairly charismatic and help with organizing and even getting the other animals that are not sentient.
And some of these animals have changed in various ways.
You can notice there's ones of different colors. Some of them are
sentient, some of them are not. That have changed colors
and done different things to them.
Magic came through here and just did a bunch of weird stuff
stuff and caused
and caused some social upheaval.
some social upheaval.
But you guys come through and with
some good, you know,
charisma checks and
skills and authority.
You... Nobody's
murdered anybody today, except
for some badly injured
humans at the start, but
they should recover.
So... And that wasn't you.
That was the animals, but
some chickens, but
it was a rough
story. A lot of people also
went in the flood. It was a
it was a tragedy.
Even the farmers lost
like other family members
and farm hands
families and friends stuff
but yeah they agreed to get back to work
animals being brought
food and asked to do
things instead of told
and pushed
the farmers
are still kind of like,
I don't know.
You guys realize, not far from the
picket lines, as things start to settle
down, there's
a gentleman in a top hat who is
well on his way to go talk to
General Clucks.
Four and a half foot tall red coat
you know long
long flappy things behind it
I don't know what they're called
you know what I'm talking about that
yeah he's got big flares
tails top hat
with a big flower on it
he's excited to get in here and talk to these people now that this ordeal has subsided.
I think we need to spy on him.
I feel like on a certain level, he looks like he's asking for attention to be noticed, to be seen, but I feel some part of him is not to be trusted.
Will you guys keep an eye on...
I can't hear James. Am I the only one?
No I can hear him either
Can hear you now
Alright yeah
It wronged me for a second.
All right.
Yeah, he goes in and he quickly starts to talk to these animals
and offer them jobs, adventure.
Whatever they're doing here isn't going to be nearly as grand
as what they're going to do if they go with him.
Yeah, he starts to try to round up these talking animals to come with him.
Yeah, I got a bad feeling about this, dude.
We need to protect the chickens and the animals from this guy.
I feel like he's up to no good.
You can go talk to the guy.
We're gonna have to roll a...
I feel like he's not to be trusted
for some reason.
He looks too flashy.
Like, it's like a
smoke and mirrors type thing.
Do you feel the same way, Darkstar,
or do you get a different hit on this person's character?
No, I do feel
either he's been sent
to search for the same things we're searching for
or he wants to been sent to search for the same things we're searching for or
he wants to
sell these
gifted animals to
someone who's looking to start
like a magical
something.
Yeah, I get that he's
trying to harvest them
for something.
I rolled a persuasion, and I got a 24.
Sorry, not persuasion, investigation check.
that gets him to show his cards,
So I know we can talk to him, but I also feel like maybe we can get more information out of him that gets him to show his cards, what his true intentions are.
what his true intentions are.
That's what I'm hoping.
Well, he's very open with what he's doing,
and he encourages you to come and visit.
You guys should come to the circus.
He heard these guys were here.
He just thinks that they would do great.
Him and his friends would love to have him.
You know, that seems to be genuinely what he's doing. him and his friends would love to have him you know he doesn't
that seems to be genuinely what he's doing
you don't know much more about the circus
other than it exists and he wants people to go work for him
he also says that they are not being
they're being hired
as entertainers
but he assumes that they don't really have to do much
other than hang out
let people touch them probably
but you know for more than grain and
seed, as poultry sums these farmers can offer.
Oh, the 28th charisma.
I think we should, like, negotiate a little bit on behalf of the farmers,
because if all the animals leave with the ringmaster or whatever it is,
it'll look like we didn't keep our agreement with the farmers.
So my suggestion would be if some of the animals want to go to the circus
for better pay, better living conditions,
he has to find a way to compensate the farmers
with either non-speaking animals, grain, money, whatever they'll all agree to.
So all three parties are kind of okay.
Well, the circus master doesn't like this,'re you're here negotiating on behalf of the farmers
but he you know respects it he's like all right i get it you you're here to do your job i'm here to
do my job uh we'll come to some sort of agreement uh he will talk to the farmers himself well
they'll find things or things to do to make sure that these animals, um, though will be dearly missed.
He's sure,
will be replaced.
he's basically like,
you can tell he's like,
I'd rather just,
screw these guys and leave,
but because you're here and you're,
talked good and on their side,
he's like,
all right,
we'll, we'll see what we can do.
We'll make sure that the farmers aren't left
without their supplies.
You know, they do like the
cheap beer and
meats that come from
all of the abundant farmlands
that are actively productive in the area.
He imagines that, you know, less people with food in their bellies
means less people coming to the circus.
So after all, it's his bottom line, right?
He justifies it to himself.
He's a businessman.
Yeah. And he's like, well and he's like well the economy right
so you guys have resolved
all of this with nobody murdering anybody
that's a good beginning to
you know good guys
we can continue a walk into the southern forest where the floodwaters came from you knew
know that you're gonna have to walk south for a while a ways and like the mountain range and
figure out where there was a reservoir of water that let loose you don't know if it was natural dams or if it was some type of,
you know, magical aquifer that was built somewhere, but you do know that the floodwaters had come
from the south and somewhere from, like, the mountains that are, like, right around the edge of the mouth of the island it's also why Cardop's gate is such an
a important landmark it is the only gate like city that has a landable like beach and there's
a large sea gate so nobody can come or go from the island without going through the gate. That gives the gate owner
supremacy for the island
and all of the people who would there
live on it.
If he doesn't want you getting off
the island, you don't get off the island
unless you go through the mountains
and down cliffs
which is extraordinarily dangerous in its of
itself but just in terrain but then there's monsters and magical beasts
everywhere as well so the gate is pretty much the only way on or off the island
that isn't considered extraordinarily perilous.
And, you know, you guys are helping keeping that economy stable,
which is good news, right?
You've traveled south into the farmland.
You've helped some people. I assume you guys get back traveling south to track the disaster
Walking is going well
through the morning and
Evening are there anything you guys are doing while you're walking checks. You're making stuff you're talking about
you guys have a lot of time, you know to walk and do
Free time stuff kind do free time stuff.
Kind of free time stuff.
Gather berries.
I don't know.
Whatever your characters do.
So I'm investigating the land that we're walking on.
And I rolled a 24 again.
Because I'm looking for signs of any magical activity.
I'm also looking for mushrooms.
Well, with a 24, throughout the morning, you're gathering a number of interesting and never before seen species of mushrooms.
I'll make some NFTs at some point.
I'll give you some of them
I'm hoping to get a lot of
like again
if the sponsor stuff works out we're going to be making
new series like every time we play
a game and hopefully they all get
put into the card games
I need you guys to pass them out to people
too that's extraordinarily helpful
I will gladly pass out
more mushroom NFTs you know I'll pass out extraordinarily helpful i will gladly pass out more mushroom nfts you know
i'll pass out whatever you get me to pass out but i am excited for more mushrooms okay continue
well we'll get that done um as you find a bunch of different ones that have seem to have been
magically altered in various ways whatever their previous um you know, whatever they were previously, probably has been amplified or changed significantly by magic.
You actually rolled high enough that at one point you probably do hear what is...
Actually, give me a constitution save. You feel something.
Give me a second.
I'm looking for constitution.
Where would it be under?
Just on your front page where it has
your abilities. There's
strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence.
Oh, here we go.
Constitutions, 15 plus 2.
And, oh my god, I got a really low thing.
You rolled a 4?
Well, I mean, you get a 6 six which means you fail this constitution save Which means
You hear what sounds like
And like them asking you to stop
As you go to pick some of the mushrooms
That have grown around some of the nearby trees
Oh no the mushrooms
Are conscious too
Some of them apparently are
Because you failed the will save
Their spores infect you
And you can hear them
And they basically are like
No don't hurt us
Now actually taking the mushrooms themselves
They probably are all that against it.
They probably ask what you're going to do with them.
I was going to save them for my studies.
I realized that I couldn't eat them.
But as a magical panda that originated from magic itself, I was really curious about them. And I meant no harm.
Well they probably asked you.
To trade something for them.
Oh what do I have in my stuff.
I don't think I filled that out.
You can easily.
Just gather some stuff.
From around the forest.
And pile it here.
Like yeah they can't move
effectively.
Can I ask the mushrooms
what they desire
most out of the forest?
More food.
More food.
Mushrooms eat rotting woods
They basically, yeah, if you go and gather them up, some leaves and some sticks, Mushrooms eat like rotting woods and stuff.
They basically, yeah, if you go and gather them up some leaves and some sticks, they'll be like, you are amazing.
Okay, I'm going to do that.
Do I have to roll anything to see how well he does? No.
Not really.
There's leaf litter and stuff all around the forest.
The things here have been really destroyed and pushed away, but you just bring back a big
pile of leaves and sticks. Uh, it makes them extraordinarily happy. Um, they also are happy
that you're going to take some of the mushrooms with you. They ask you to, to pass, you know,
spread them out. Um, that would help them out immensely. Yeah. Uh, you know, they don't know
what you eat. So, you know, they don't know if you should eat them, but they're also not against it.
They make these for the purpose of propagation, so you're helping out by carrying them somewhere.
Yeah, I'd rather plant them than eat them, and I want to study them because they have magical properties, and I don't know what the effects would be if I ate them.
I could trip or I could die or something.
I could open up a portal to another dimension by eating it and just view that portal.
I don't even know.
So I'd rather study them and plant them around because magic propagates magic, in my opinion.
Well, they'll remember that.
They're a week old.
They're just kind of chill though.
Their life has been pretty chill so far.
I like them.
They made some
squirrels and stuff.
Last week.
Or last couple times. the sun was up.
Like, they don't really have time.
You know, it isn't great, but
their concepts are limited and it makes
it hard for me to narrate from their perspective.
It's okay.
It's okay.
Is Darkstar doing anything or am I
going to continue doing things?
Because I have other ideas besides investigating.
And what this looks like to them for a minute is you kind of go into, like, almost like a trance.
And just kind of, like, start gathering stuff up and picking mushrooms.
So, like, do you guys do anything?
And she just kind of starts to commune with nature.
Up in the stories over there.
I'm tripping y'all.
I think that's what's going on here.
Just touching them.
pass a perception
check just to make sure she's
before I interfere.
She looks physically fine and she looks mentally aware, but still, you have no idea why she hasn't communicated any of this to you.
She's been telepathically talking to mushrooms for a second. And then she starts collecting things and doing things.
Okay, I cast a seven.
So, don't think it'll tell me much.
Yeah, I mean, she doesn't look like she's in any traumatic trouble.
She's just acting a little weird.
But also, she's a panda.
You've only known her for a couple days. Maybe this is what pandas do.
I'll err on the side of caution
and assume this is what pandas do
when they're in the forest.
So, I'll hand
the stage over to her so she can
continue this
side quest.
if I'm able to
find anything besides mushrooms
because my investigation check
As you begin to realize that
those farm animals were probably not
the only thing
affected by this,
you do see that there are a number of other animals
that seem to be more
intrigued by your presence than
an animal normally would.
Like, they seem to be more
curious and less fearful than
animals tend to be.
You know, a couple birds
sitting on nearby branches, kind of curiously
watching you.
There's a few small monkeys.
I think they like the capuchins.
So, the animals are friendly and curious.
Well, I mean, they're curious.
Oh, okay. We can't assume they're friendly and curious. Well, I mean, they're curious. Oh, okay.
We can't assume they're friendly.
I mean, my experience in the real world with monkeys, they're fucking terrifying.
But anyway.
This is a different world, so maybe they're not as terrifying.
I don't know.
Wild monkeys that could potentially shoot magic at you.
Yes. No. They're scared of monkeys in this world, too.
I feel like I need to keep my distance from these monkeys.
And even though I'm noticing that these animals are observing me more closely than I've experienced with wild animals I am cautious
especially with what happened at the farm revolt because I got really emotionally tied up
in that whole experience and I didn't do a very good job in helping. So I feel like my luck with other animals right now is not the best,
especially also the experience of mushrooms.
So I'm a little cautious right now in interacting with them.
Well, I mean, you just, as you look around,
you notice that they are around.
Like, you're like, oh, now what these things think or do
or how they've decided to live since
they've been aware that like they have choices to be made like you know to step away from the order
and examine that um it is an interesting you know change shift you realize you're not just
walking through the woods you're walking through people's front yards.
Okay, does Darkstar notice these animals? And does he notice anything else unusual
as I'm still gathering mushrooms
and looking for other magical things?
I mean, if he has a decent perception,
then I'm sure that he would.
Perception is like his face.
Yeah, he plays in
pretty normal.
I haven't seen anything.
He plays in pretty normal.
He's not nervous as an animal. This place seems pretty normal Yeah It's normal I think you guys
You guys gotta do your space soon
Yeah it's in 8 minutes
Thank you guys for coming
I really appreciated it
I hope Jimmy can make some time and
collaborate with some stories coming up, too.
I'm going to organize
some more games. I'm going to get on here and probably
keep playing throughout today,
tomorrow, whatever.
I got some friends that are going to help me
out to keep games
going and we can keep players in
rotation and stuff.
So, it should be fun and also like I said
I didn't sign the papers yet it takes a little while for the back and forth because they want
to make sure you know it's all good to go I guess but we're gonna be doing you know small tokenized
impacts I've talked to poly Raiders which you guys know who they are I help them getting kids
to school and stuff so we're gonna be helping them with things uh if you guys know jerry from we try better he's gonna do some more touchbutt tokens
for us um and each one of these token series is gonna be worked into this game and have the same
automated trading systems on the back end to you know make that money because that's why everybody
buys crypto um but they are also going to be
micro-cap tokens that we're going to encourage
people to pump and dump and adjust the
stats of their characters
for money.
generally do.
because I'll be continuing to have
stuff to pass out to participants.
If you have characters here, we can continue to build them and do stuff.
Like Darkstar in the Siege game will probably be a boss
once we start working in all the other contracts to make it work and pull the right stats.
Because he's been playing a few games with me.
I know that...
Wutan, is that his name?
I'm not great. I named
the characters, but I don't remember them.
But he's going to be
strong because you've done a lot of stuff. I keep
powering him up, you know, so that'll be
helpful. Once that game is live, you'll
be able to kick some ass from
being a dedicated community
Guan Wu. Guan member. Guan Wu.
Are you saying...
Yeah, Guan Wu.
Are we going to continue this story same time, same day of the week, next week?
I want you to talk to Jimmy and find out what day is the best day for him because
I want him here and active
and participating.
Not only do I think it's fun
and it's good for him to relax, I also
think that him doing
so, he's a natural entertainer.
The fact that he's a
300-year-old turtle isn't
going to hurt that any.
So we'll get him in here doing that.
And we want to come on down as well because our party of people is traveling together right now.
So we want all three of us.
It definitely helps when combat and stuff comes up.
If I talk to my friends and we're going to do some other stories around the city,
we'll do probably some good guys, some bad guys,
some just guys who want to get rich, whatever.
Good guys, bad guys, guys.
We'll do some other stories that will essentially interact
and interweave with these stories to some degree.
So that'll be fun.
Yeah, thank you.
I'll give you some more NFTs as they're made too.
We can do these sessions and then I'll pass them off to you
and you can give them away in the tree gen spaces
during the weeks.
I completely said that I was going to do another giveaway on my profile,
and then I had so much on my plate, I totally spaced.
So I need to do that.
So sorry about that.
No, also, if your life becomes more demanding than, you know, can do that stuff,
just let me know.
Again, everything here is voluntary.
So if you're like, my life is a little more busy.
I don't have the free time anymore.
We can cut back or stop, you know.
Yeah, my time just kind of escaped today.
And I planned for this.
And then was like, oh, crap, I need to do that today.
The day is not over.
It can still happen.
I'm just saying.
Also, like, if there's people doing stuff like i said i think people are going
to need at least 10 of them and they're only going to be like two bucks a piece so if people
if you want to just kind of pass them out to people so they can play the games um people who
you know will actually try to play the games and not just try to sell them because we don't even
have a floor price like you know if you don't want to play the game there's really no reason to have them um exactly okay yeah there's a lot of ways we can give them away
so i know like jerry was trying to buy and some tech issues were coming up so i just gave him a
sentinel i just gave him one because he was trying to buy one and there was something going on I can't remember what but yeah
well thank you for helping him out with that
I know that um we're gonna have
a bunch of them and everyone we sell
you know 80% of it goes back to
public goods liquidity in some form
sweet I'm gonna
hop out cause I gotta I know Jimmy
Jimmy's in this space he needs to
get ready to go in the other one i'm like i'm sure that he's got some
love you guys get to get to work
okay so i just want to say i Love you I'm grateful for you
And I love playing and I can't wait
To play more
Yeah we'll pick either next Wednesday morning
Or we'll pick another day
Okay sounds good
I'm actually going to close it down
Found if there's a different time
that's better for you let me know
because like I said I want to organize a few games
and like I got to get like
things organized and a workflow going
but I'm getting it
but playing games
it is hard for me to I guess
there's a multiverse Darkstar can be everywhere
at once clones of Darkstar
yeah I like playing with you found because you There's a multiverse. Darkstar can be everywhere at once. Clones of Darkstar.
Yeah, and I like playing with you, Found, because
you have good rules so far,
and you have a...
You think a different way than I think,
so it makes it
for a good game.
Okay, good stuff.
Alright, I'm pretty easy, because
like I told you yesterday, I can always move things around.
If everyone's good to do Wednesday, then I'll make it Wednesday.
Well, we'll wait to hear from Jimmy, but otherwise tentatively Wednesday.
All right, guys.
You guys have a good day.
Have a good day.
And see you in a bit, sort of'll swarm in the Shijen space.
And if you launch another space today, James,
I'll probably hop in that as well.
You guys got me out of work early,
so I'm home now with loads of time,
so good to go.
All right, yeah, so hopefully next Wednesday we'll meet you guys.
