Thank you. people can hear me better now i've gone to the good old-fashioned phone and straight
up to the ear if someone in the main radix telegram could let me know if i am now audible
that would be extremely helpful awesome so uh expensive mic randomly plugged in uh just as i caught in the door apologies for
anyone who tuned in for the last 30 minutes i did not realize they hadn't plugged in just as I come in the door. Apologies for anyone who tuned in for the last 30 minutes.
I did not realize they hadn't plugged in and wasn't working properly, but I'm glad you can
all hear me now. So I will speed run this and do it once again. So we cover all the big news and
even better news, Dan is here. So let me get Dan up on the space as well.
so let me get Dan up on the space as well
and we can then just call the last one a drill run
but now Dan said it's going to be all the better as well
so Dan hopefully you should see the mic ability to co-host
I'll just ping that over to you yeah I'm not sure if Dan is still having some issues he might be having exactly the same problem
I had half an hour ago of just walking in the door and trying to get everything to work
of just walking in the door and trying to get everything to work.
So in terms of the Radex recap, for the last two weeks,
so Dan, Andy, and I have been locked in a room
for the last two and a half days
and going through all of the foundation strategy things,
the priorities for the upcoming months,
and really what is going to be necessary to make sure
that we get Radex and the fantastic ecosystem
of DAPs being built on Radex and all of the community really what is going to be necessary to make sure that we get radix and the fantastic ecosystem of
dApps being built on radix and all of the community what is needed to get some more visibility
to get more users and get more capital in so before i kick off dan i can see you're speaking
now can you hear me uh yeah i've just booted up my desktop. I just walked in the door for my flight.
The traffic on the M6 was awful.
My flight was fine, and you didn't miss much
because I just spent the last 30 minutes apparently talking to myself
because no one could hear me.
Yeah, and there was nobody to tell you
no no one's tell me that i no one could make a word i was saying so but it's worked out for the
good because that would have been the end of the space but instead and i want you yeah yeah we're
here so i i guess we're gonna we're gonna run through this quite quick now i
suppose yes we probably should so okay i was gonna speed one through the things i did in the same
order before and we'll end up on some of the stuff that came out of the foundation kind of strategy
planning days that you andy and i have been locked into um so first up is of course the wallet updates so the big one is since the last
time we spoke is that the dap directory is now live in the wallet and this is something that i
know dan you and i were super keen on getting in gannadi stella and all the team have been
very keen as well as all the community very keen to get in place so that has gone out and is really
testament to the the approach that you've now got everyone in the foundation working on which is
get stuff live iterate from there don't wait for perfect being the enemy of the good
exactly yes do that as much as we can uh obviously some things you don't want to take that approach
like security critical stuff and things like that but But a lot of things can work very well with that approach.
So we'll do that where we can,
and things where we need a bit less speed and more haste,
we'll do them where necessary.
But I'm very happy with a lot of the progress
that we're making at the moment.
Some things are still a little bit behind,
as I'm sure the community will be very quick to tell us.
But some things are moving in the right direction too.
And of course, that directory is just the latest on a line.
We've already got the next fairly big wallet update
already going through the App Store review process.
So early next week, Radix domains are going to be incorporated
into the wallet. And again, on this iterative approach, that first release is essentially
resolving domains if you want to send assets to another account. So if you had, for example,
Dan.xrd, I'm just going to my wallet and go send assets to Dan.xrd, and it will resolve
system that the rns foundation has built in there we'll then add in more things to make sure that
that's even more featureful and being able to be used in more places but again get get something
out get things there get it get the ball rolling and i'll be running early next week. Yeah, RNS is extremely overdue.
But now we're going to have it finally.
So let's use it to its max.
There's so many things you can do with the RNS stuff in the wallet. So, yeah, small things first, and then we can build into that.
If the community has any ideas on things we can do with it that's cool that we can support in wallet and stuff, then please do let us know.
I'm sure you've all got millions of ideas.
But, yeah, we'll just iterate that as we move forward and keep Wiley busy.
And I've got a shout out to, well, every ecosystem team but this week the xrd domains team wiley and others there have been
extremely helpful to the wallet team in getting this integration in a good place getting it live
asap and also working with the foundation on making sure that kind of v2s of this are in a
really good spot as soon as possible so really appreciate that assistance as we do always from
anyone in the ecosystem indeed well done everybody
for pr and marketing as the next on the list um as we've got to plow through this sam yeah so i did the podcast last week while you were busy traveling that was a good kind of general primer
on radix i was really looking at why defy is so promising why hasn't it got the foundations it
needs and essentially why radix is the answer to that.
So if you haven't seen that,
we basically went through
why most L1s aren't ready for mass adoption,
why DeFi still has a UX problem,
some of the other lesser known features of Radex.
So things like developer royalties
and why they're so powerful.
And we also touched upon the growth fund
and the incentives campaign we've got coming
up as well but perhaps more excitingly Dan where are you off to next week uh oh what's it called
I forgot the name uh I was joking I was uh yeah I'm actually quite excited for that conference
because it's they've got a really good lineup um anybody who's anybody in crypto
is seemingly going to be there um we don't have a booth so i'm free to wander around and engage
with people and uh meet up with with with many people i haven't seen for a while as well because
i didn't do the conference circuit for a while so uh looking forward to catching up with old
friends and make some new ones and spread the Radix word.
I'm also on a really good panel with some very knowledgeable, smart and influential people in the space.
I mean, that's an understatement.
You've got the CEO of the SWE Foundation, Mert, of course, co-founder and CEO of Helios,
and the co-founder of Zirkit on a panel with you.
Yeah, and I'm the moderator on this one.
So somehow I've got to keep all these,
so we say vibrant personalities in check.
It's going to be interesting.
I'm sure I'll lead to some good quotes.
And also for Proof of Talk,
I know Astralesson is going to be out there.
Our PR agency is going to be out there supporting you.
And I also want to give a big shout out to the Radix Community Council for helping organize all of this,
dealing with a lot of logistics for you and really helping out the foundation there to get that sorted.
So thank you very much to all of the community council for that.
Next event, of course, coming up after that is not actually a foundation one.
It is the great team over at Radix Wiki. So they're going to be running another Dap in the Day workshop hackathon with Brunel University in London. That's going to bea-Day workshops have been extremely well received from like Imperial and St. Mary's and the students there and is a really good way
to get the next potential wave of scripted developers and even Web3 developers into the
space and starting off the right way with Radex. Yeah I love these kind of day-long
hackathons that they do in these universities.
And I went along to one of them
and it was an interesting experience
to see how passionate people are
who've never even touched anything like crypto before
and the guys that run it do a great team.
There's always a good amount of community support there as well
which is great to see people chipping in and helping with that um so yeah just just keep them
up i i love that that these are being done it's just a shame we can't do more
there's always time done there is time to do more time there is time there's but there's there's
lots going on at the moment um but we'll we'll get there um with with more hackathons and
various other things i'm sure so i'll move on quickly because we don't have that long the
grants so we've got a big backlog of grants have been going out and we're now making sure that
we're getting those promoted effectively so shout out to intern for getting those out and getting
updates on those so the ones that we've announced
in the last two weeks was an mvp grant for raccoon.fun the launchpad for defi plaza and their
calm algorithm for oasis which are building a radix solana bridge and radix charts again everyone's
familiar with radix charts here and of course nft wars and did you know dan nft wars already have a thousand plus players
oh wow i did not know this information that's very impressive so they're all going well we've
also got a lot more grants um to announce they have been long overdue getting the promotion so
we're making sure we're getting those out really to highlight the amazing things that have been built
by many of the people tuning into space here today so we'll keep that up um in the wider community um we've got flux
life now on mainnet so flux is a collateralized stable coin native to radix so f usd where you
can users basically can set the interest rates or you earn yield by providing f usd liquidity
and more stable coins in the ecosystem are hugely important which i know we're going to come on to Users basically can set the interest rates or earn yield by providing FUSD liquidity.
And more stable coins in the ecosystem are hugely important, which I know we're going to come on to, Dan,
when we talk about some of the stuff we've been doing over the last few days.
Trove Pro has gone live in early access.
Big congratulations to Rippy and everyone else involved with that. So make sure you go and play with that.
So make sure you go and play with that.
They've got some really good traction so far.
I think Rippy was messaging me the other day that they've done about 10% of all of the previous Trove volume in the first week.
Yeah, that's getting some wheels on it.
And of course, add some more good competition into the NFT space, obviously alongside XRD gens.
add some more good competition into the nft space uh obviously alongside xrd gens so all of these
sort of things just help make a vibrant interesting ecosystem that when we get some more eyes on
things with the incentives campaign with hyperscale which we'll come on to that's going to really help
us be able to retain and give interesting things for people to do in the ecosystem as both users
and also with their assets uh speaking of more more people in, The Machinist deserves a big shout out as well for kicking off his new Radix 101 series.
So he's got his first video out at least.
That was one basically covering how to get the Radix wallet, how to get started and set up.
His next one, it may have already come out.
I'm not entirely sure because I've been on flights and traveling. But his next one is going to be around kind of like how to get involved with staking, how to select validators and all that. And again, huge shout out to the machinists for creating all this great content and getting things going there.
app go live so they're already live on the Android store they're going to be live on
iOS soon and for anyone who doesn't know Radix Hub is a mobile app which has got loads of
information about Radix it pulls in latest social feeds blog feeds links out to dApps
and a whole bunch of other stuff so fantastic work there just increases the surface area
that people can discover Radix learn more about Radix and get engaged. So great work there. Now, Dan.
shall we kick off some of the things?
And I know we've got to be a little bit,
a little bit teasy here because we're not ready
with all the final comms on it,
but what we've been up to for the last few days
and some of the foundation priorities.
I'm sure you have a list of things
that you've put together on the plane very quickly for us to talk about.
So number one, and to give a bit of context to people.
So we kick this off really, as everyone in the community will know, we've been listening, working through the feedback from ecosystem builders,
from holders in the community on what are the things that are really going to move the needle.
on holders in the community, on what are the things that are really going to move the needle.
And there's three big things that we know are coming up, and we're going to be really focusing
on those, especially over the next few months. So first of those is Hyperscale, second is the
incentives campaign, Airdrop, and the third is Bridges. Do you have any preference which one
we hit first, Dan? No, roll the the dice and you pick. So let's go
let's go incentives campaign because we've got some we've got some good things out there there's
been some great discussions over the last couple of weeks around this obviously post the token
holder consultation that going ahead we've really been full steam on that so many of the foundation
team have been working through that priority list of things that we want to incentivize and essentially one of the key things that we've
got is again this iterative approach that we want to be taking because this campaign will run
effectively weekly we can do a lot of trial and improvement during this phase so step one that
we're already committed to is that the first activities that will be going live is uscc liquidity into the ecosystem and you said it beautifully this week um stable coins are the
oil of a defy ecosystem so we're kicking off with that but we also are pushing full steam ahead on
all the other things so making sure we've got traded activity in there making sure we've got
activity across things like perpstexes making sure we're grabbing kind of the entire kind of net activity.
So things like fees paid is something we can track, making sure that then we're working through
additional asset types, including native Radix assets, and really building that campaign up
and iterating as we go through. The next steps on that are we've all on timelines for we want to have for making
sure that we get that first version up very very soon and we've got some good appetite and very
good feedback from builders from the community and everything else and appreciate there's some
where there's views on which things should be done first which things should be integrated how certain
things should be done but really want to stress that we're we're hearing all of those and one of the big things about the campaign is that it's
designed in a way that we can iterate on things add things change things if something works really
well we can double down on it if something isn't working we can swap it out or change how we
approach something so all of that feedback is very much appreciated yeah hold on yeah just like um we're basically flat out on
this so there there are a million things that we would like to have ready for day one but it
unfortunately just just isn't possible with the team that we have and a limited number of hours
in the day so um we've got to prioritize a little bit but as adam says
very quickly we can we can iterate and add more things and we can capture a much broader spectrum
of stuff in the ecosystem over a short period of time so i understand there's some frustration
about some of those things um and we share that but we are we are stretched so um there's only
so much we can do in a short period
of time um and we want this out the door as quickly as possible so we hear you but we're
just having to make calls based on the resources that we have in the time that we have so nothing
more than that next thing as a priority dan i'm gonna let you have the mic for a bit. Is, of course, Fightersco. What's going on there?
Yeah, so we had a really good, great test a couple of weeks back.
And then, unfortunately, I've had to travel quite a bit.
So I was traveling the week after, and then I've been locked in a room with Adam and the
foundation team over the course of pretty much this week.
And the next week, I'm at Proof of Talk.
a status quo. I have been doing some code on the road because I recently treated myself
to an insane laptop machine so I can do more codes.
It is a beast and it weighs a brick.
Yeah, you see that. Yeah, carrying that thing around is not fun for long periods of time.
But it does allow me to be much more productive on the road, which is what I've been doing. So I've got a couple of little bits and pieces just to
finish up. I've got a shitload of commits to make that I'm going to be doing over the weekend
with a view to at least kick something off with community to sanity check some of that. And then what I'm
looking to do over the next few weeks is to essentially get a community test going where
we can run it for a prolonged period of time. Because robustness is really what I've been
concentrating on a lot over the past couple of months in between all of this restructuring and team getting settled and redefining priorities and stuff.
So as much as I would have liked to have focused 100% on hyperscale, we've had to be quite dynamic.
But the amount of time I'm able to spend on it now is orders of magnitude more than it was a few months ago. So we've actually got a bit of momentum again, which is good. And we are
thinking about how do we bring in the third parties quickly as well over a very short time
horizon so we can have maybe not a million tps tests somebody in the community
suggested this and i was already considering it too i think a couple people suggested it actually
in dms to me about why don't we just do a smaller scale one with a couple of the third parties or
whatever we can achieve quickly and then shoot out for the bigger test a bit later because the
logistics of lining up everybody is a bit of a nightmare so that's what
i'm looking to do asap um just want to sanity check what i've changed push the code up community test
imminently and then we'll line up uh one or two of these third parties to join a broader community
test so we can get some validation you guys can get some validation uh we can have some third-party confirmation um that it's doing what it needs to do and then when
that's rolled up we can then shoot for the proper big bang one because like i say there's logistics
involved um and i think kind of adopting that somewhat iterative process that we are now pushing at the foundation.
And I always want to give a shout out.
I did it on my dry run of the space where no one could hear me.
But big shout out to everyone in the community
who's been doing or participating in these tests.
And a lot of that robustness work that you're working on at the moment
on the network is down to the help of people like Teevan joining from a laptop on wi-fi
and people all over the world basically putting this network into real real life situations
so that you can find those bits that need to be worked on so that when we do kick off kind of
bigger more public tests we're in a position where the network is reliable robust
and resilient to all of these different factors so yeah everyone taking part i i think that what
we're what i'm going to um mandate for our next test everybody who joins these is that we aren't
going to push the shit out of it and break it because i
really would like to get a steady pace long soak test right um and based on the last test that we
did there isn't much more upside available on at least the machines that i'm running um because
they're fairly low spec to keep costs down it is quite expensive to run those machines flat out um with
higher specs so machines i'm using a fairly low spec um and the what was it 250 000 swaps a second
they were all pretty much a somewhat breaking point so pushing for a high number at this stage
in these tests isn't really going to achieve anything more. And all the robustness work I've been doing
so that we do have a strong, reliable baseline for these third-party tests, we need to test that
properly. And that is, okay, I mean, it's not exciting. It is exciting when you consider the
rest of crypto, but from a Radix point of view, running 100,000 swaps a second for six hours, 12 hours and beyond, that's really the kind of testing that we need to do now.
So if you guys pressure me in that group, I'm going to say no, we're not going to push it to break it because we basically did that and we know where the number is.
So a bit more reserved, maybe not as exciting, but necessary.
All very good to hear and then the the third big priority that we have in in the near future is of course permissionless bridges
and specifically permissionless mint burn bridges and i'm not going to say too much don't worry dan
okay i'm not going to name them but we had a big working session on this yesterday afternoon, following off the back of some conversations that I'd had out to consensus and not to count chickens before they've hatched.
is on a timeline quicker than we were expecting and as long as we can get that across the line
we're hopefully in a very good spot for getting a truly permissionless bridge
from an established partner up and running in line with the incentives campaign
yes anything more you think we should add on that dan
no i've got i've got pre-announcement PTSD. So let's just leave that.
I'm sure the community's got that too.
So let's just, things are moving forward quicker than we expected
in a very positive direction.
And that was very good to have that movement this week.
We were very, very hard, flat out,
to try and get something on the table
because it is important to the incentives campaign.
And I'm very pleased to say that those things,
as of today, are moving in a much better pace
than we could have expected.
So still, as Peachy would say subject to change
unknown unknowns but it's looking very good so um we'll leave it there and and do you want to
touch a bit on like obviously those are the the three priorities that we've we've been working on
a bit more on why we're focusing down on on those things to make sure that they're successful based on
where radix is where the ecosystem is where the wider market is yeah like like those three things
are a trifecta at the moment that all play into each other right so you've got the incentives
campaign which to be uh you know fully utilized and live up to its proper potential need to need to bridge. If we have
a bridge, then people from other communities can frictionlessly find their way in to take
part in the Radix network and to take part in the incentives campaign. And then Hyperscale
is just kind of tops all that off with you know uh a demonstration of the technical excellence
that we not only currently have but that we we will have in the future uh and that many of the
hard problems in crypto especially regarding scalability and stuff um there are solutions for
and you put all those things all those three things together um and execute them well um then there's there's a very strong
narrative that comes out of that and there is very strong actions that can come out of that
and a lot of upside potential in terms of community growth and wallet downloads and
installs and all these things so um they are the things that will have the biggest bang for the buck at the moment. And that's where the autofocus needs to be in terms of, you know,
foundation duties in terms of myself and you and Andy and everybody else involved.
And then the team are doing a cracking job on keeping on top of everything else.
So put all those things together in the right way.
I think that's our best opportunity at the moment and if we do it right it should be explosive
i haven't said it done myself oh thank you sir so we're pretty much up to time and i'm sure
like me dan you you have a family who has missed you.
Yes. With all the traveling recently.
I'm with the chaos for a little while.
So I will quickly give people a minute or two.
If you've got a burning question you want to ask, request the mic.
Otherwise, we'll be wrapping that up. And we will take it from there.
I mean, any final words from you, Dan?
Today's going to be interesting.
Yeah, I don't know if you want to touch on this.
Yeah, let's just touch on it.
So this morning woke up to everything.
Trump and Musk. We went to bed with trump and musk we literally
left we left we left the office and my goodness it was it was almost like radic's curse striking
because it was like i left the office uh when we went for food last night feeling very very bullish
yes i was like this is looking good some pieces are falling
together and in the time it took off to eat dinner the richest man in the world and president
of the united states decided to have a public social media route yeah it was surreal um and
then yeah this morning and so um it just i don't it's impossible to always make the right decisions right um and
based on past experience when i have stepped in to help it's been well received um and so that
seemed like the best thing to put together quickly this morning that could take some pressure off
and a bit of relief for people who were maybe suffering or had woken up to that bad news um clearly on this occasion that
wasn't the right decision to make the community were very vocal respectfully as well thank you
um on pointing out that hey don't do this this is bad we don't want you to do this stuff um and as i say you know we are we are human beings um we make the wrong call
sometimes we read the situation wrong sometimes um it's it's fine to be wrong um accept that you're
wrong listen to the people who are telling you that you're wrong and do something about it so
i would like to thank the community today for calling that out in a respectful way.
I think everybody understood what I was trying to do
and how we were trying to step in and help.
But ultimately, you guys didn't want us to do that.
So I thank you for your advice.
And it is what it is, right?
We'll let the community take the lead on that obviously we're
we're around for assistance if if there's anything that we can do to to help this situation but i'll
leave this particular scenario to you guys to suggest um but i think this is this is part of
what was really good about this morning was there's a stark difference between
how that may have gone down a few months ago um and the interaction between the foundation and
the community is a lot healthier now um i i i think everybody in the community has seen that
things are changing if not changed hopefully for the
better and in a general direction there's still things that can be improved and i'm sure we'll
all get there but i think between us you know if if we are right 60 of the time and you guys are
right 60 of the time then the best decisions will be made and if one of us is either the foundation or the community is making
a potentially bad decision then we should help each other to realize that um and not that the
community is ever wrong of course but on the very rare occasion that you may be
um but i think working together in the way that clearly seems to be happening will be very good for us as individuals, people, a community and RADX as a whole.
So thank you very much to the community for pointing that out today.
And thank you for doing it in a respectful way.
And I've got to take a moment and I'm going to make you blush, Dan.
And I've got to take a moment and I'm going to make you blush, Dan.
But being in a room with you this morning when that was all kicking off,
like you were there super bright and early, straight on it.
And I would go to war with anyone who said that you didn't give a shit
because like you were grinding immediately as soon as you see that.
Like you saw that the community was hurting you saw
that it was a shit situation and straight away we're going into how can we do something even if
we can't magic one make this better what is what could we do how can we do it what is actually
plausible and you were working with many and even just the the response to when the community kind
of fed back respectfully about that not being a course of action straight on it.
And that is something that is massively lacking,
but generally in the world of that ability and that care.
So I think the Radix is very lucky to have you.
On that soppy note, before my wife gets jealous and maybe i'm
taking you on a date night and we've had no one come up you scared them you see it's always when
i when i do this thing for my own people want to come and come up on talk and moan of me and stuff
like that but when you're here no one requests to speak oh i wonder why actually maybe maybe i talk bluntly it's like yeah i'm not gonna do any of that
i'm nice really i think i don't know anyway uh yeah well i yeah i you may hear from me all later
on because um i potentially have a date with the machinist on his basis so if I can find the time after having a quick
reconciliation with family
then maybe I'll see you all later on that one
and I'm sure machinist and Felix
will ask the questions tough or otherwise
they will and I'm sure you'll be blunt
it's the best way to be so on that beautiful note
thank you very much for everyone tuning in this space is recorded we'll forget that the first
half hour ever occurred where x decided not to let my microphone work or maybe all of them work
simultaneously it worked out in the end so thank you very much everyone and have a lovely weekend and a lovely evening indeed see you all soon
