let's go welcome welcome everyone to another episode of whale tank we have a
great show today welcome everyone welcome to our great speakers
Shif how are you doing it is the first whale tank of the month the first one
we've done in a while to be honest I feel a little bit out of shape I'm
excited to get back into my judging mood we've got a fantastic lineup of
projects and judges alongside us today and what a better way to start off your
Friday depending where you are across the world with a whale tank I'm feeling
good how you feeling whale how's your how's your thoughts of the month been
feeling good you know last week we wrapped up our nifty island competition
which was a great great success we got Charles joining us today as one of the
sponsor of whale tank and of course co-founder of nifty island so and one of
the judges today so a lot of roads but yeah it was a lot of fun we had a lot of
players on on our island so there's definitely a lot of fun we're looking to
add what to do more in the next next few and a few weeks maybe we were
working on a couple of couple of things behind the scenes so yeah I think it was
a great yeah great initiative great success Charles I hope you you enjoyed
it too I know you played on the island too so can you tell people how hard it
was to to reach it off all right it's so this is where it's like I'm like okay I
I'm glad I work on games and don't compete in them professionally because
people are so insanely good it's crazy I'll pin a tweet this is the the Usain
bolt of seals I'll just pin one I think he was close to the top close to one of
the fastest but just absolutely insane it was so difficult which was great I
think that's what people like and but check this video out this is a really
insanely cracked seal competitor here I'd highly recommend watching it I
actually don't understand how they do it and and I've played the game quite a
lot I couldn't believe it as well when I saw this I was blown away all the
shortcuts all the tricks that seal was moving that seal was definitely moving
pace and the fact is that was the third spot it baffles me even further for one
of the first two as well I mean whale I know we live stream last week showers
ice helping us with the stream this definitely puts our attempts to shame by
tenfold dude yes it's like a normal human being might take 20 or 30 minutes
to get to the top this guy did it in just over 30 seconds like holy shit that
is insane that is beyond Olympian that's like being from another planet
actually insane different species it's crazy I think my first one I've let it
on easy mode so with checkpoints so I don't have to start from the beginning
each time but I think it really took me like I think you're right it's like 26
minutes to reach the top so it's insane to do it in in 30 seconds but yeah I
think that the top five or to be honest like the top 10 the top 20 had a really
really good run unfortunately only the top five will will get some surprises so
seal is definitely one of them but yeah it was was a lot of fun
shallot to ice again for the live stream I saw you doing today thank you
for for joining us yo good morning good afternoon everyone good morning well
tank holy I'm doing good you know that run it's I've watched it a bunch of
times it shocks me man like oh because I'm a big advocate and a huge nerd when
it comes to speedrunning like games done quick all those charity events and
honestly this clip is one of those clips that you can toss on the billboard and
just like it's a crazy crazy clip and people will actually donate to see how
it is and I really like this kind of concept because this kind of opens the
floodgates for people to see like okay this is actually how you play the damn
game whatever I'm doing like going from platform platform that is a that is
that's just child's play like that is what we're supposed to be doing at all
but like this guy like the fact that he's like going from play multiple
platform skips he's clipping like just pixels on certain platforms and doing a
certain jumps like that is honestly that's one of the most impressive runs
that I've ever seen man I'm so hyped for this let's go we are also Sanjay
joining us I saw your your videos today when you and you played with shift so
you could share also your experience from from yeah chilling on whale island
and trying to make it to the top how was your experience thank you for for
joining us Sanjay thank you whale and ship for having me here you know excited
to be on whale tank never been here before as a speaker or up on the stage
so super nervous a little bit nervous as well but you know nifty island I've
already played the game a lot the other day I was playing tilted tilted towers
in there and then the and then I was playing nuketown and then I was doing
like only up with your on your map whale I must say you know what I think I did
alright compared to like you know just trying it for the first time and going
in it but ship clearly was sweating super hard and just flexing on me you
know it doesn't look real good for the brand but you know I guess you need some
PR training or something but yeah I know it was a great fun you know there was
this one jump I just kept messing around like I don't know something's up with
that jump you know I'm gonna report it to Charles later on in DMS but but
overall great experience excited for this space thank you for having me can
just say when it comes to games whether I'm the host or not I'm gonna be
competitive Sanjay and as an expert programmer yourself as like like you
claim to be one I was very disappointed with your performance couldn't even get
up to the top no matter how much time was given to you very disappointed but
it's okay I'll let it slide onwards and upwards to the next competition let's
go yeah as you can see in the audience if you haven't already you can still
visit well well island and the competition is over but you can still try
to try to reach the top you don't have to be as good as see you with this run
as I said it took me 26 minutes to reach the top so maybe you can beat my time if
you if you can't beat seals time yeah but let's get into it let's get into into
well tank we have really exciting exciting guests today shift do you want
to do a brief intro about the the project that are joining us I know I see
AI arena on the on the stage I did a brief space with space with great
yesterday basically I will be one let me see if I can pin the treat I'll be one
of the eight captains in the AI arena competition so yeah excited to to hear
more from from create today I will pin in the space we all joined by by block
games and by KPR so exciting exciting guests I think we will start with this
block games correct just so we'll actually start just a little bit from
Charles here what is the latest update on nifty island before we get into the
segments of whale tank and just a heads up I know we have a lot of new people
tuning into today just a quick rundown of what whale tank is me and whale and
alongside our judges that we have today including Sanjay ice we're gonna be
reviewing and of course hearing the pitches from these projects and giving
our honest feedbacks we're gonna be asking the hard questions the like
questions everything in between so you get an insight completely into these
projects and how you view them moving forward and at the end you get to vote
in which pitch one year over essentially so each project gets 30
minutes max in each segment and that's how we can proceed but before we get
started want to hear an update from Charles on what's happening with nifty
island it's been a fantastic it's just a couple days recently and of course since
the launch talk to us Charles how things being appreciate it yeah so I'll kind of
give a big overview I'll say kind of concretely how are things going today
and then concretely what what are we up to next what can you expect from us and
then finally I'll offer a little bit of a just bigger frame on kind of what I'm
most excited about when it comes just future of web 3 and all that so in terms
of concretely where the game is at it's it's right now in a place where people
keep coming back so their attention stats have been really strong like kind
of astonishingly strong which has been great it's not a ginormous game by any
means but it's you know four or five thousand people playing every day and
then coming back repeatedly and and just qualitatively like people are having a
great time there's plenty to improve where and I'll get into that but what
I'll say is we have something weird and wonderful that people really enjoy and
and that everything else is downstream of that in my mind that's like the most
important fact so no complacency from us but we have something weird and
wonderful people are enjoying and we're really grateful for every day that
people choose to play with us so that's been great and in terms of so that's
kind of the current state and then in terms of what things that you can expect
from us really you know on a very tangible level quest system these
obstacle courses races in-game competitions with prizes are the killer
part of the killer kind of feature set for crypto gaming in my mind and you're
gonna see us rolling that out we did our very first quest targeting forgotten
runes the other day it starts it's gonna start simple but they're gonna get
really intense and complicated kind of more complicated more competitive and
have much much bigger prizes so that's coming you're gonna see the marketplace
which is really in its infancy emerge as a place where game art gets dropped in a
really compelling way that feels like what happened on OpenSea for digital
artists you're gonna see it happen for game artists on the marketplace so you're
gonna see that rolling out that's not gonna take too long you're gonna see a
wave two of the airdrop that is bigger and better than the first more bigger
rewards and additionally brought likely broader eligibility and accessibility to
the airdrop we're gonna be kind of increasing top of funnel finally you're
gonna see a lot of improvements around how viral the game is and what people
choose to share from the game I won't give away too much there but we know
that content discovery in the game is you know it's interesting but needs
improvement and we have some big ideas on how to how to change that and then
without ranting too much I'll just say really quick kind of on like industry
level like how we're thinking about this so I think you know we've all been
really excited about you know additional l1s more and more infrastructure more
and more blockchain infra on a whole the thing that really motivates me to work
on this is I think there's just a new vector that needs to be worked on in
crypto which is just you know far like really novel consumer experiences and I
think if we can collectively get excited about not theoretical future coming soon
products but live live web 3 native delightful consumer applications and if
we can push really hard on those together we can really change the space
that's that's what motivates me here is you know making the value prop for
crypto way more tangible making it so that people look at our corner of the
internet and say damn they're having a type of fun over there you can't get
anywhere else and that's really what motivates me to keep pushing on it and
if you choose to build with us know you're being rewarded for it through the
played airdrop campaign wave one farmers are really the OGs in the making
but wave two will be even bigger and better so yeah anyway that's where we're
at I've been enjoying the hell out of it and deeply appreciate people for playing
let's go and I think this last week we last few weeks we saw basically everyone
in web 3 joining us to open see started to weigh in a lot of NFT projects of
course so yeah love to see you have to see the success we're very well deserved
and excited to you know made work on more more experience together so I think
before yeah thank you for the update Charles we also got kippers today joining
us from block games keepers are doing hey guys nice being here oh man this
week was a busy one probably it was the busiest week in my professional career
cuz from Monday to Friday every day back-to-back meetings like from 8 a.m.
to I don't know 7 p.m. so crazy busy but super excited to be here let's go and I
was sure you will tell us a little bit more about why you have been so insanely
insanely busy because plugins working on a lot of a lot of stuff yesterday was
printed in the show the tokenomics announcement for for block so I'm sure
that will be kind of part of your part of your pitch now but if you're ready to
go feel free to yeah give us an intro on on what you what you're working on the
block games what's new and kind of what's the what's the vision for you
should I go ahead with the whole pitch yeah please go heads up for the people
tuning in this is where the the segments start and compress obviously we've been
talking behind the scenes thanks guys you know 30 minutes start now and of course
you can start with your elevator pitch 30 minutes I hope I'm gonna squeeze in
quicker but awesome guys I'm Kepras the COO and co-founder of blog games and I
like to call blog games team a team of mobile gaming experts as we have been in
the scene for quite a while right now so with our founding partners Astati we
have been publishing games for a while so Astati we're developing games since
2012 we were publishing games from later on but we have a lot of experience in
publishing games and mobile games one of the core success of mobile game is how
you are acquiring traffic and user acquisition is a very important pillar of
entire mobile gaming industry and nowadays and over the last couple of
years it just become a lot more difficult mainly due to privacy policy
regular regulatory shift we had Apple introducing privacy policy changes two
years back now this year Google are gonna introduce very similar policy
terms as well we're gonna have another regulatory on the finger fingerprinting
and basically what that means is that you know acquiring the right type of
traffic just became 88% more expensive and you know I can give a practical
example like when you're downloading mobile games this pop-up up there is
ASCAP not the track and everybody clicks on it right and when they click on it we
as advertisers we don't get the information about the users whom we
acquired and where they're coming from hence we cannot optimize our budgets
hence in order to acquire that same high-quality traffic we have to buy the
traffic very broadly when you buy the traffic very broadly user acquisition
costs go significantly way up while the LTV of the app whether it's a game or
just a regular app remains the same right because you either monetize
through in-app purchases or you either monetize through in-app ads and mobile
game publishers mobile game advertisers developers are searching for new ways to
acquire traffic and we have seen that shift as well from publisher budgets
being allocated towards alternative distribution channels and basically
blog games out of that whole experience was built because we saw a problem and
we knew how to solve it and blog games is an alternative distribution channel
so in practical words basically it consists of two parts so one part is our
app so we have an app which is a centralized app over there we have many
games integrated integration takes minutes because we have integrations
with the mobile game back-end tools called MMPs so basically right now we
have somewhat like because we're close we have some would have around like from
30 to 100 games across different geos but later on we will have a suit of
between 100 to 200 games across geo so each and every game has its own
milestone its own goal action RPG game might have a goal reach level 10 level
20 level 30 so basically what we are doing is we are assigning value to
those goals and whenever our players they see a game that they like they click
on it they see the goals listed as well and they see a value when they hit that
goal that milestone they get that payout and the payout is coming from the
developer or publisher basically they're giving us a payout whenever we send them
the traffic that hits their goals they're in-game KPIs and a part of that
revenue we're sharing back with the players basically incentivizing them to
perform those actions plus incentivizing them with with with you know rewards to
share data with us as well so that's the that's the blog games app but it
comes as mentioned it consists of two parts the other part is our web free
player identity protocol which basically defines the rewards so we are sourcing
off-chain data you know what types of games the you know the players like how
many how many times per day they are playing how long they're playing whether
they spend money inside of game how often they do that and then we're
sourcing on-chain information so how does the person interact with smart
contracts how does the guy whether the guy holds any value amongst those
contracts whether he has any of these and the combination of these two data
sources basically defines the player identity the better the identity the
more the rewards the player is gonna get and that's that's basically the
book three part of it I'm not gonna go into the entire white paper because the
protocol has a lot of other elements to it which are not yet disclosed so I'll
skip that part but that's that's the core and then we have the the token
which will act as a supplementary reward incentive backed by real-world revenue
so we're getting revenues we're allocating them to buying back our
token we're incentivizing the best performance with an additional reward
which is block token and then additionally block will have some other
in-game purchases attached to it so it will have an ability to remove certain
gated content for pros players will be able to stake block in order to get more
rewards publishers will be able to acquire players with with block and it
will also represent a certain certain vote in that in the in the upcoming
roadmap and you know governance and affairs in terms of traction so we have
been performing pretty well on both sides you know the business and the web
too and web 3 as well so in terms of web 2 and our focus is is is you know to
import high-quality mobile game publishers developers so of those we
have more than 150 on board already we have you know all of the connections
throughout the experience and know-how and because we have been in the market
for so long so all of our clients they're web 2 high-quality game developers
that means that they already have games that are performing well they have
sustainable revenue streams from those players hence we are on boarding them
because minimum spend per week is going to be per day is going to be thousand
bucks but you know certain other clients will pay a lot more you know 300 500
thousand you know dollars per per month for our traffic and then we also have
the web 3 side of things which is our blog games dice and Genesis collection
which basically represent our best performing community you know
identities so the blog has some future links to you know blog games player
identity and that collection has been performing as well pretty well you know
since since since October we've generated more than 7k in ETH in trading
volume which accounts to close to 20 million dollars which is a lot
considering that we have shipped the collection in the beer market and yeah
that's the traction right and and we're with this model we're after the user
acquisition industry which is right now around 15 billion dollars market per
year and that this market is also growing on a 15% compound annual growth
rate and we have seen this is just the UA market right but the alternative
distribution market is growing even quicker because as mentioned before
publishers are searching for alternative solutions that would provide them return
on their ad spend and yeah and we have the team to execute the entire project
as well so me and Ben as we have been shipping and building products in the
past so you know our our our how to put it that way we always wanted to be in
gaming but is it me I can't hear him anymore I can still hear him I can still
hear him I hear him I hear him yeah hello yeah let's wait for you guys to
sort it out it's fine you can continue all right awesome so as I was saying and
we have the team to do it so me and Ben as we have been building some other
startups and the previous one that we have built we've it was in a real estate
industry we we raised money we scaled it and we sold it to UK multi-billion
dollar corporate called Zoopla it's a classified listing ad and basically in
real estate we wanted to solve let's say real problems first but then our
hearts were in gaming and then and we said that next time once we're building
something cool we're gonna do in gaming plus we were investing into crypto since
2014 so we all always wanted to match our passion with crypto and and and you
know game five is a perfect combination and then we also have our match with us
who is CTO at blog games so he was a CTO at Aneba a gaming marketplace that is
currently doing somewhat 30 million euros in annual recurring revenue
before that he was a CTO at tessonet and tessonet owns NordVPN north pass so he
was behind NordVPN which is the number one VPN in the world and not just that
I mean they own out of 10 most popular VPN they own I think six which is
which was their strategy but I mean he knows how to build scalable products so
that's our CTO our CMO because he was a head of publishing at a company called
North current North current is the biggest mobile game publisher in the
Baltics and he was looking after their publishing side of things and basically
he was managing a hundred million dollar plus yearly user acquisition budget so
we know what our clients when allocating budgets are looking for
because we know what are their needs and yeah guys that is my pitch fantastic
appreciate Kifris minus whale gang rug halfway through he's probably sitting
into the whale tank account right now can't hear anyone but a fantastic pitch
and we have 18 minutes bounces around so the judges feel free to raise your
hand and ask any questions you can press style for Charles Charles far away hey
yeah those those cool I I'm curious it's like that so it seems like the market
problem you're speaking to is that mobile game publishers are in this
increasingly fierce competition for attention and you guys are trying to
leverage web 3 to make that battle easier at least that that that's what
sounds like to me and the and I'm curious so just very tangibly as a
player if I arrive on the platform and I'm looking for a game how do I like
kind of see
