Longe de você, já não tô mais nada
Deus é uma parada, diverso em cima
Perto de você, eu não me pergunto
Eu não me pergunto, eu não me pergunto
Ela é meu estado de espírito, ela é a minha proteção
Eu sou a paz, eu sou o amor e a esperança
O telefone me tocou novamente

Starting with five minutes.
A dedicated father of five, today, he focuses much of his time on his business ventures
and living his best retired life.
Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome the legend himself, Anderson Spider Silva.
Hello, everyone, thank you so much, everyone, thank you so much, my brother, how are you doing?
We're going to be right back.
We're going to be right back.
Now, you come from humble beginnings.
Now, you come from humble beginnings from Curitiba, Brazil.
Maybe share a little bit about the type of environment.
Oh, you know, Curitiba is a very beautiful country.
It's a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful city, you know, and I'm born in Sao Paulo.
I'm born in Sao Paulo and I grew up in Curitiba, South Brazil.
And it's a very good city, you know, the people is very kind and I'm so happy to live there
for a long, long time in my life, you know, because everything I have in my life, everything
I take memories in Curitiba gives me the good vibes, the good things, you know.
So it's a very nostalgic place for you.
This is where most of your childhood memories were made.
Now, you said you were born in Sao Paulo.
At what point did you actually move to Curitiba?
Well, I moved to Curitiba when I was 40 years old and I started living in Curitiba with my
So I was under the impression at some point you moved in with your aunt and uncle, but it
was your stepmom and dad.
Yeah, my uncle and my auntie is protect me a lot and help me to make something special
And my honor, my respect for others, you know.
Now, you know, of course, at some point you moved, you said your stepfather and your stepmother.
So I'm just curious to know, did you move with them for any particular reason?
I mean, what was sort of, I'm trying to figure out how you were actually raised.
When I moved there, I remember my stepmom and my stepdad and my mom talked to each other
to make something better for me in the time, you know, because my mom is living alone with
me and my grandmother, you know.
And that's the good decision my mom take it with my stepfather and my stepmom too, you know.
So she wanted a better life for you.
So she had to send you away in order to give you or provide you with that opportunity.
Okay, well, that makes sense.
Now, I also know that at some point when you did move in with your aunt and uncle, what
was that sort of, what led you into that path?
Because I know that your uncle was a police officer and was it more of a discipline?
I mean, I grew up in the family is police and my stepfather have a background to the army.
And when I stopped to, when I finished the time in the army, go to the police department
and I grew up with my brothers, my stepbrothers, everybody's cop in my house, you know.
And I go to school to come cop too.
And the last two months, I just talked to my stepdad and he said, you know what, that's
I don't know, but I feel that's not my life.
Yeah, it's very interesting because my stepdad stopped talking to me for two months.
So he stopped talking to you because he wanted you to be a police officer.
You were studying to become a police officer.
And right at the very end, you said, you know what, this is not for me.
I said, you know what, that's not for me.
You know, I need to do something different.
And the time is, is very, is very, I, I, I feel I disappoint my dad.
But when I feel my, the, the different life in my career inside the MMA, my father just
come talk to me and say, you know what, you take the better decision.
Sometimes the fathers like to do something better for, for sons, but it's not the truth.
It's not always the answer.
I'm glad you made the decision that you did because clearly you knew something he did
But at what, so when you decided you didn't want to be a police officer at this point,
you already knew that you were going to be in martial arts.
Well, I started martial arts, uh, in school.
I started to, to, to, in a, in a, in a program in the school, the, I started in a capoeira
in school and, uh, that's my first experience in the martial arts.
And after that, I started to, to learn Kekondo close to my school.
And, you know, the, the, the rest of martial arts come in my life very, um, you know, it's,
I, I never, uh, just take martial arts because, oh, I, I need to do that.
No, because I, I feel the martial arts helped me to understand more, uh, myself, you know,
to just, uh, feel my own energy to make something special for others.
So now when you're in school and you're learning, you're learning capoeiras.
Sorry, Anderson, your, uh, your microphone.
It was just rubbing on your, on your chest.
It happens to me all the time.
So it makes a little bit of a noise.
So now you're, at this point, you're learning capoeira in school.
And was there any thought in your mind that this is going to be the direction that you're
Or at this point, you were still trying to figure it out?
No, I just try to, to enjoy the moment.
I never put in my life, oh, I come professional fighter or, you know, in the time, my mind is
So I just try to, uh, uh, learn everything in this martial arts to come the same, my professor,
the same, my coach in the time, you know, and come good, the same, my coach, you know.
And I think that the professional life in martial arts, in mixed martial arts, come very natural
I never just, you know, that's a good one for life, you know.
It's come very natural for me.
I thought that, you know, uh, I'm pretty sure, like, you came into fighting kind of by mistake,
Like, like, your calling was football first, right?
Can you talk about this a little bit?
So, the first of all, I just, my, because my dad lives in São Paulo, and, uh, and all
my, my time when I have a break in school, I go to São Paulo to visit my dad, you know.
And, uh, one time I saw the, the tryout in the Corinthians team in São Paulo.
It's a huge team in São Paulo.
And I talked to my dad, dad, I go to try out in Corinthians.
My dad said, yeah, you, you can do anything.
But, when I, when I come to school, the Corinthians football, uh, class, I come very, uh, what
The guys don't give the permission to come inside to do in the tryout.
And the same place, and the same complex, is, uh, the boxing, Olympic boxing team, the
Corinthians Olympic boxing team's training there.
And I, I start walking there, and I, I see the guys training, and sit down, and I, I start
And, uh, in the time, uh, the, the coach, uh, come talk to me, uh, Victor Ribeiro, is
come talk to me, and say, hey, what's up, kid?
You're training something?
I say, uh, I train in martial arts, but I never train in boxing in my life.
But I'm not here to train in boxing.
I come to, to, uh, to try out, the football tryout, but I'm late, and something happened.
The guys don't give me permission to go inside.
It's very funny, because the same moment I say that, my coach, the boxing coach, just
take the equipments and give for me.
Okay, now, you come train in boxing.
And I call my, I remember I, I call my dad and say, dad, I go to the fight camp.
You know, go to, to Corinthians to try out, to play football?
And I say, yeah, but, uh, I go to boxing tournament.
And my dad, boxing tournament?
I say, yeah, I'm a little crazy, dad.
I, I explain everything for you when I'm back home.
And that's, I start to, to boxing and Corinthians.
Yeah, it is, it's something crazy happening in my life, you know.
And it's, it's, it's interesting, Frenchy, I'm just going to jump in here quickly, because
as he mentions Corinthians, and I just thought to myself, at some point, weren't you sponsored
Yeah, for a long time, uh, Corinthians sponsored me, because I have a good relationship with
the, the, the club, you know, the Corinthians club.
I have, uh, a lot of friends there, and I have a good, good story with the club, you know.
I mean, clearly, but Frenchy, jump in.
No, this is, this is crazy.
Like, like, like, just tell me, like, you think that you, you, you, you, you think that
you had, like, that, uh, that ability in football, the same ability that you have, like, in martial
Like, oh my God, brother, you, you, you put him in a, in trouble situation.
I have a, I have a good, you know, but I'm not good.
I continue training for sure.
I come, uh, professional, but I think God have a plan for every single person in this
world, you know, and God give me the different direction for my life.
You know, that's crazy how this thing works, man.
Like that's, that's amazing.
That was your calling, man.
I mean, you can, you can fight this.
That's, that was your calling.
And what's interesting about that is the full circle, right?
The Corinthians sponsoring him in a different element, which to me is pretty good.
Now, um, as far as your, so at this point now you're, you know, training, you're, you're
boxing, but at some point someone says to you, Hey, like, you know, I see star power
Like you are a strong fighter.
And, and just kind of going back a little bit, I know that you've listed Muhammad Ali
as well as Bruce Lee as both your influences.
Uh, you know, that's very funny because when I young, when I very young, I watching a lot
the Bruce Lee movies and when I hang out with my friends, I just, Oh, today I'm Bruce
Lee and my friends, come on Anderson.
And my friends bully me a lot.
And I, I just whole time when I start with, hang out with my friends.
And, uh, when I go to, to doing something, I say, I'm Bruce Lee guys.
You black Bruce Lee, man.
And I use them the stuff.
And I talked to my mom, my step mom, mom, just doing this for me.
And my mom just doing something and I use in the, the, the pants and the shirts, the Bruce
And I walk in the street with my friends and everybody, whoa.
And Bruce Lee, black Bruce Lee is called, it's funny, you know, because I watching a lot of Bruce
Lee, the movies and, and I use in the, the, the whole, uh, uh, philosophy, the Bruce Lee
to continue learning something martial arts, you know, and Muhammad Ali is a special.
It's so special because I, the, the, the, the man give for every single person in this world,
especially, uh, athletes give the chance to you doing something special in your, your own life.
You know, you believe in yourself, you can do anything.
Nobody can say for you, you can do that or this, or this, or that, you know, and Muhammad Ali show,
show for the world and show for us how special you can do when you believe in yourself.
So Muhammad Ali provided the hope and then Bruce Lee had a philosophy that you sort of walked
That makes a whole lot of sense because I think I can see glimpses of the Bruce Lee and of
the Muhammad Ali within you.
I wouldn't say Spider-Man, but they do call you the spider.
So, uh, I know he was another inspiration.
I mean, I think it's, Bruce Lee is, is a special in my life.
You know, Muhammad Ali is, uh, is, uh, the, the, the God for, for the boxing world, you know,
and Spider-Man come to my life because I grew up watching the Spider-Man and I, I remember
I just talked to my mom every single time, mom, please, please, please, please.
I needed the stuff for Bruce Lee.
I need the stuff for, uh, Spider-Man.
And I need this and that in my mom.
One, one time when I, my mom take the money and go with me and I story and buy the suit
for the Spider-Man for me.
And I put on the suit behind my uniform, you know, and I hang out with my friends in school.
And then when I have my break time, I take my, my, my uniform and I put on the mask and
start to hang out with everybody in a completely suit, the Spider-Man suit.
And one time, I remember one time the, the, one of my, my teachers just call my mom, my
step mom and say, uh, listen, um, please, uh, Dona GT, you can come to school because
Anderson, I think you have a little problems.
And when my mom go to school and the, the teacher start talking to my mom, Hey, listen,
You need to take care of the kid because he is really think he's a Spider-Man is jump
and my mom is, don't worry.
He's, he's, he's, he's very normal.
And don't bother me about my kid because he's thinking he's a Spider-Man is a Spider-Man.
And I, and I, I, I'm like it.
The, the, the, that, that the people, uh, say, Oh, Anderson, I mean, my nickname is Spider-Man
because it's a very, uh, close to the real story for Spider-Man.
You know, I grew up with my, my step family, you know, and, uh, Peter part two.
I think is everything is connection, you know?
So who gave you, who gave you the name, who officially, yes, who gave you the official
Listen, guys, this is very funny.
One time I'm in Japan to fight in pride and I have the shirt, the Spider-Man shirt.
And I, I go to the lobby, the hotel lobby, and I sit down and the lady, um, come to talk
to me, the lady working in, in, inside the pride, come talk to me and say, Oh my God,
Anderson, you very, uh, uh, your body is very similar to Spider-Man.
And I said, wow, you're a Spider-Man.
And I said, Oh, thank you.
And what happened at night?
The lady talked to the, the introducer guy.
And when I start walking to the, to the arena to fight, the guy say, from Brazil, the
Spider-Anders, and that's, that's the Spider-Man.
It seems to me like your stories all have a sort of predestined sort of path.
Like we can kind of see where it's headed.
You know, you grew up being obsessed with Spider-Man and suddenly they call you the spider.
And then of course, you know, I look at Muhammad Ali and I see your journey now in boxing.
You said something very interesting, which, you know, you said that Muhammad Ali was the,
the sort of, uh, the embodiment of boxing.
Would you say that that's what you are to MMA?
Because you are the Muhammad Ali of MMA, it seems.
I, I think I try to do my best, uh, every single day.
And the, and the time when I fight MMA, I learn every day.
I dedicate my entire life to do my best inside the sport, you know, but I, I remember when
my step-mom talked to me about responsibility, you know, and my mom say, don't think you fight
for yourself, you fight for the new generation, you fight for, show you for the people, how
much the people can do anything in your own life, do your best because you have a responsibility
And I say, whoa, I don't know, I don't know what's going on, but I think that's very powerful
And I, I continue to do my best and I try every single time when I go inside the ring,
I go inside the cage, I try to show for the people, you can do anything, you know, you
love, you have a dream, you have a passion, do your best because it doesn't matter if it
happens, uh, you can live a good life when you don't have a passion in your job, you don't
have a passion in you, something you, you do, you don't love, you know?
No, that's absolutely correct.
Because I mean, French, I know you're going to jump in here and I definitely want to hear
I know you have some really good viewpoints.
It's just, uh, it sounds to me like your mom gave you a real purpose.
And I'm, I'm, I'm very lucky.
I'm very lucky because my mom, my step mom helped me a lot, you know, and give me a lot,
a lot, a lot of things to grow up a good man and respect the others, you know?
And yeah, I, I, sometimes I, I, I think the, the whole situation happened in my life, you
know, I come to live with my step mom, my step dad, I think God give me, uh, the good
family, you know, and putting everything in my life to, to help me, to help the others,
That's, that's, that's definitely, uh, very valuable.
And, um, my, my, my question to you was like, not really related to this, but, uh, mainly
that your philosophy, like about fighting, because we, we know that you are a very dedicated
and, uh, disciplined, you know, uh, you know, sport, like, you know, uh, athlete, but, um,
I wanted to know, like, when definitely you, you, you, you got that, like, when, when was
the time that you really got that, uh, that, that concept of discipline and, uh, uh, this
philosophy that you have around fighting?
Wow, French, you know, uh, when I start fighting professional, uh, I never, I never realized I
come, uh, champion UFC or, you know, I just start fighting because, uh, professional, because
everybody needs to work and, uh, take care of the family, you know, I come father very
young and, uh, I start fighting professional, but I never forget in my mind, uh, the propose
that God gave for me and that I continue work hard, you know, and of course I have a different,
uh, moments in my life, in my career and a lot of difficult, you know, a lot of problems
that people try to, to cut me to the, the, the, the fight, uh, war, you know, and I continue
Minotauru help me a lot and I, I keep my focus strong and when I, when I, when I decision
continue fight, you know, but I think is the moment is the more important in my life and
I realize this is my destiny, my destiny is my first title belt when I fight with Hayato
Sakurai in Japan, you know, and, uh, and the moment I, I, my first fight in Japan to
the, my first title belt, I, I realize the big responsibility I have with myself, with my
dreams and, and the, the, the, my fans and the people in my country, you know.
And so just to kind of add to that now, I, um, so you mentioned briefly that you were
a father quite young and this is before your real martial arts career began or took off.
And so how were you able to balance family lives and trying to build or achieve your goals
in, in pursuing, you know, uh, this career and how was it on your wife?
I'm sure it was probably difficult, right?
You know, very difficult.
I, well, I passed for a lot of difficulties in my life, but, uh, my family gives me a whole
support, you know, my parents give me a whole support and I, I think I don't have the, in
the time I don't have the support to my family, my parents, nothing happened in my life, you
No, I completely understand.
And so now you don't have your family support.
You're getting into this new career path.
You have children, you have a child at least one, right?
And then you have a partner and she's trying to support you, but she's also raising a baby.
So you're probably hitting each other's heads, right?
She's young too, you know, my wife at the time is so young, you know, and, uh, I'm, I'm not
in the time I don't have experience, my wife don't have experience.
And I, you know, the parents help us a lot, but it's very, it's very tough moment, you
know, but I believe in everything is for today.
I, I, I see my family, I see my kids, I watching my grandchildren and say, you know, thank you
God for everything you teach me, everything you put in my life to, I'm grow up good man,
Well, I mean, yeah, you definitely went some through some hardships, but I think that you
see the reward at the end of it.
Um, now, and congratulations on the, the, the, the, your, your great children by doing.
Frenchie's excited to become a grandfather too.
I feel, I feel I'm no ready, but he's okay.
I don't even want to think about it.
That's what you're talking about.
Uh, you know, so you're a grandfather now.
Do you, when you look at yourself in the mirror, do you, do you see yourself as a grandfather?
I, I, I already talked to Gabriel, my son.
They say, Gabriel, you, I don't think so you ready for come father because I'm not ready
to come grandfather, bro.
And my son look at me and say, dad, I feel you.
Because I'm not ready because I'm not ready.
You fathered two times now.
I'm joking, but I'm so happy.
And I, I believe in, you know, Gabriel is so happy too.
And the, the baby come to make the good and the special energy for everybody in this house.
So now you mentioned Gabriel, who's, you know, a father, a new father, but I understand he's
also a mixed martial artist like yourself.
Uh, a couple of your sons actually are.
And so, you know, you've been through it yourself.
What sort of advice do you normally give them?
Because they're pretty much at the same sort of level or stage that you were in when you
Gabriel and Khalil fighting, you know, but, uh, I like to talk.
I like, no, I talked to a lot with the kids and I say, listen, I pass for different situations,
bad and good in this sport to make a good life for you guys.
You need, you want to say in one thing, you don't do this because you love is not real
Don't do it because you're doing something wrong.
You don't love, don't do it.
You know, and that's my, my concern for my kids.
Do you think they're doing it because they're trying to live up to your legacy?
I, I believe in the kids, uh, doing because love, you know, is a passion.
And of course you continue the legacy, you know, but, uh, Khalil have your own, your own,
uh, uh, free way to work.
And I try to help both and everybody, the kids train with me every day, you know.
And, uh, I try to help the kids to learn everything correct and training correct to continue your
own story in the sport, you know?
Now, do you think that people in general fans will have, will put pressure on your sons to
I don't, I don't think so.
I don't think so because it's a different time.
It's different generation.
You know, the kids have more information, you know, the kids have more, uh, uh, uh, uh,
support, you know, and I think it's a different time.
And I talk to my kids a lot.
Don't, don't, don't put your pressure yourself just doing because you love, you know, you,
You don't love, don't do it.
Don't, don't, don't try to, to push, push yourself hard and make depression for the people
Because the final day, when you go to fight is only you, it doesn't matter how much you're
training, how much I help to training.
And it's only you inside.
You don't have something special inside your heart.
No, I can, and you know what?
You don't do your best if it's not a passion to begin with.
So you're absolutely correct.
It's much easier to make mistakes when it's not something you love.
So I, I definitely agree with you on that.
Now, tell me Anderson, at what stage or at what point were you offered a contract?
At what point or at what stage were you offered a contract to fight professionally?
And I think my first professional contract is when I fight in Japan, you know, and I say,
wow, I have my first contract to fight, you know, and I'm, I'm so happy, but the real
one, when I, I take the real contract is my real big paycheck is in UFC when I fight
And that's, I, I think in the moment, everything's changed in my life.
And were you, and so tell me a little bit about how you were discovered, at least for
the listeners who are just tuning in, how were you exactly discovered to fight for the
Because I know, you know, people go through the ultimate fighter, you know, there's, there's
different levels where people get to kind of be scouted, but for yourselves.
So, uh, I started fighting, uh, in Brazil, you know, in the Mecca world.
And, uh, after that, I, I fight in Japan and Shoto, I fight in pride.
And when I come out the pride, I fight in Korea.
Uh, I fight in England for long, long, long years.
And when I, when I take my, my second title belt in, in, um, in England, uh, UFC offered
And that's, I, I decide, decide with the team, take the decision with my team to fight in UFC
because I have more exposure, uh, more visibility, you know, and I, that's, I, I start fighting
I mean, you, you sort of put the UFC on the map.
I mean, what was your relationship with, uh, Dana, like at the very beginning?
I mean, you just, just say what you want to say, you know what I mean?
Like, you know, I, you know, Dana is Dana, you know, Dana is Dana, everybody talking about
Dana, you know, a lot of people will talk good, you know, I have my own opinion about
Dana, Dana, Dana came like Dana, Dana came and swooped him up.
Dana worked with Elon Musk.
Don't do him like that, Dana.
You know, I have my personal opinion, you know, it's not, it's not, it's not surprise for anybody,
you know, I have my own opinion about Dana White, you know, and, uh, I, I, I, I respect
Dana a lot, you know, I respect the Fertitta brothers to give an opportunity, Dana to give
an opportunity to fight in UFC.
And, but, you know, it's, it's, it's only about professional, you know, it's a business.
I see, I see what you mean.
You know, it's a business.
It's, it's not about personal, you know, it's a business.
It doesn't matter if you're a good guy or not a good guy, it's a business.
You're doing something good inside the cage, okay, you're good.
You're doing something bad, you're out.
It's normal, you know, it's, it's a business.
That's the game, you know.
Was there ever a time or a point during your career where you thought it wasn't just business,
where you thought that maybe you had some level of brotherhood?
Like, no, definitely not.
Brotherhoods I have with my, my, my coach and my family, you know, but I don't, I don't
believe in the, the, the, you can't feel that in, inside the companies, you know, the MMA
So, you know, it's a corporation, you know, in a, in a, I, I, for a long time, I just tried
to feel this is my family, you know, I, I put in my heart and I working hard, I dedicate
a lot for U of C and in the one time I, I realized it's not the true.
It's not my family is not, it's not, I'm not inside this family is only business, you
know, this family is, you know, is a fake when I, people say, oh, UFC family.
And, but it's okay, you know, because UFC helped me.
I helped UFC, you know, I think I helped more UFC and UFC helped me.
That's how I feel, that's my feeling because I lost time with my family.
I take a fight and a challenge to myself to help UFC when I don't train me, when I'm not
preparing myself to fight, but I do my best, you know, I do my best for my fans and respect
to my fans and for UFC too, you know, and the final day is when you finish your day, you
finish your work, you need to understand one thing.
You make numbers, you're a good man.
You're inside the family.
You don't make numbers, it's time to go.
And that's happened to everybody, you know?
I mean, you're absolutely right.
I mean, UFC is UFC, the corporation is corporation.
We, we, we, every fighters and every athlete, I think, at a certain point, experience those
type of things, especially when you're top tier, mainstream, you know, and the legend,
And, uh, there's always going to be like some type of, uh, friction, either like, you know,
they, they, they love you or they dislike you or they don't care.
Like, you know what I mean?
You know, you know, you know, you know, brother is very, it's very fast.
Three days and, uh, and two days, everybody hates you, you know?
If you don't serve their purpose anymore, like, you know, if you like, you know, start to
decline a little bit or whatever, who they feel that you're declining or they feel that
they cannot use you anymore.
Well, you know, it is what it is.
Like, as you say in their mind, it's a business, like, you know, and that's, that's what we,
we, we, we need to understand, but I know there's a hall of fame.
So like, are you going to a hall of fame?
You know, I know this situation, but I, I'm, first of all, I'm not.
Available in the time because I have a lot of things to do.
And I talked to my master, Minotauru, to stay there to represent me.
And I think my son, Khalil, and my son, Gabriel, going to represent me because I'm not, I'm
not in, in town to go to the, to the hall of fame, you know?
I mean, a hall of fame without Anderson Silva is not really, but anyway.
Yeah, you definitely had a hand in shaping the UFC.
So I think that there's a little bit more that could be done for your legacy within, you
know, the UFC franchise, if you will.
Now, I'm going to dig in a little bit here about some of the controversial stuff that
you had experienced, because I think it sort of falls in line with the discussion we're
Somebody had messaged me in the back chat saying that your English is very beautiful,
I continue, I continue, I continue to learn.
It's very, it's very difficult for, when I, because I come to United States, I'm, I'm
old when I come to United States.
I don't come in a time, I don't come to United States in time to go to school.
But anyways, I go to school, I continue, try to learn English, because I live in here for
But it's very difficult, you know, for, I grew up in Brazil, I talk to Portuguese, and
to change for English is very tough.
I, I student every day, and I, I learn everything, new one every day with my kids, my kids help
me a lot, my, my teachers in school.
Hey, Anderson, you're doing amazing, amazing, quite honestly.
I mean, just watching some of your videos from when you were a little bit younger to
It's terrible when I'm young, it's terrible.
Oh my God, it's terrible.
You know what, it wasn't terrible, it's actually fascinating to me, because you picked up the
I mean, yeah, you've been here for 11 years, but I mean, as you said, you came at an old
age, and it's usually hard to retain language at that age, right?
But you learned fairly quickly.
No, no, you, you did great.
You know, it's funny, because one time, I remember, I'm in a, in a, in a press conference, and the
guy asked me about something in Spanish.
And I say, no, no, no, you can, you can sing in English.
And the guy asked me about, about English, and I say, of course, yes, of course, but
And the guy asked me about, so your voice is good, because you feel your voice is good,
because you're strong, man, you're powerful, and you feel your voice is so kind.
And I, I don't, I, I don't want to stand in the time and say, yeah, of course, of course,
But, oh my God, it's terrible.
I think he was trying to say that you have a very gentle voice for such a strong force,
You, you sound very nice and kind, and, and I'm sure you're all those things, right?
But, uh, when you see how you move in the ring, and the way that you fight, uh, and how
you, you maneuver in terms of your skills, it doesn't match your voice.
I mean, it's funny, because everybody bullying my voice.
My kids, my friends, my dad, you know, everybody bullying with my voice.
And I say, come on, man, you don't have a voice to the good man.
And the guy said, no, you don't have.
Listen, I know for a fact that the, the, the men with, like, you know, uh, high pitch
voice, they're very dangerous.
Like, you know, we know another one like that, right?
You know, because everybody, everybody thinks my voice is, oh, hey, what's up?
But it's not, you know, I, I, sometimes I try to do something, hey, hey, hi, how are you?
But I can't, it's terrible.
No, it's not, definitely not.
No, no, we appreciate your voice here.
It, it, uh, it's very gentle, so we like, I like it anyway.
I can't speak for everybody else, but, uh, we'll leave your voice alone for a second.
Now, Anderson, you are no stranger to controversy in 2015 and 2017 as well.
You went through some scrutiny regarding some alleged steroid use, which sort of left, you
know, a mark on your legacy.
Uh, maybe you can walk us through what that entire, uh, situation was like for you going
through that and why is it that they discovered certain steroids in your stream, sort of what
Well, you know, the time is a very tough for me, but thank you, God, everything is come
And, uh, the commission, uh, uh, put them in a, in a situation and I don't want to stand
in the time, you know, but there's a matter of time, everything you consume when you, when
you fight is your responsibility.
But when, when I do in the test for everything is the, the commission, when the, the new commission
come, the new commission, uh, check it out, everything, see, you know, it's not Anderson's
It's, uh, problem to the company, the lab makes something wrong and, you know, thank
you, God, everything is clean, you know, and, uh, I just prove, uh, my respect for my
fans and for sport in the time, because, you know, this, this construction, a lot of powerful
story I create in my entire life, because the excuse and the problem, the, the lab do
it, you know, it's not my fault.
And that's very, I mean, what MJ just, uh, like, you know, is raising is very important.
Yeah, no, definitely, definitely.
And that's very important as well to kind of let the, the, the, the fan know that like,
you know, the lab is at fault and not you.
And then, by the way, the lab, uh, has been found guilty, you know, not you, like, you
know, so like, you know, like, you know what I mean?
So that's very important to, to, to understand that.
So, uh, you definitely, uh, cleared and, uh, you definitely show your respect for the sport
And I mean, Anderson, you know, obviously there must've been a lot going through your mind
because I know that they handed you a one year suspension.
So what was going through your mind during this time?
Did you think that you were losing your entire career?
Were you thinking about a different game plan?
Oh, in the time I just tried to, uh, uh, found the solution, you know, the true.
And I, I spent money to prove, uh, I'll never lie, you know, and thank you, God, everything
come resolved because I put on my lawyers and I, I, I paid the different labs and outside
the country, you know, for people, shake it out, everything in, uh, the commission together,
you know, I just, uh, doing my, uh, collab with the commission, everything in the commission
ask me to do, I, you know, and thank you, God, everything's clean, you know, and my, my name
And I'm, and I'm happy to hear that too.
No, I mean, did they even reimburse you?
Did they give you back your money for all the money you spent?
I hope you got something back.
You know, but it's not about money.
But, you know, I, I, I spend a lot of money, you know, to prove I'm, I'm in loss, I'm nothing,
You know, this is part of the past.
Everything's perfect now, you know, is helping to understand more.
the game, you know, this part, the game, you know, it's very interesting.
I have more experience to help my kids to don't doing something wrong, you know?
I mean, I, I want to take it back a little bit, uh, quickly regarding, um, so you, you,
you speak a lot about like one of your mentor and, uh, someone that you refer as your master
So I want to kind of, uh, understand, uh, how that connection, you know, uh, came about
This is very interesting, my brother.
So Minotoro is the different, in the time I, I, Minotoro and I, uh, come close it is a different
It's the best teams in the world and the best teams in Brazil, the best MMA team in the world,
the Brazilian team in a shoot boxing.
And I'm part of the shoot boxing and Minotoro is part of the Brazilian top team.
The guys, uh, fighting a lot, you know, the different guys, the, the both, uh, uh, team
fighting a lot, I fight with the guys, with the Minotoro team and, uh, the, the Brazilian
top team fight with the guys in my team, the shoot box and the time, but something happened
and the pride, I come out the, the, the team, the shoot boxing and I come close to Minotoro
because Minotoro is the idol for me.
And I, I respect Minotoro a lot, you know, doesn't matter, Minotoro is the different team
and I'm the, the team, opposite team.
Uh, the situation and the life put, put a Minotoro and I together, you know, and, uh,
I start training with Minotoro.
Minotoro helped me a lot, you know, in the moment.
In my life, I don't have nothing to do.
I don't have money and I think, uh, my career is top and never back to fight.
Minotoro helped me a lot, give money, give money to me and my family to, I continue, uh,
work to my dream come, uh, real, you know, and it's my master is give, give me the, my black
belt in jujitsu and, uh, my, my best and amazed friend.
That answered your question, Frenchy.
Yeah, no, definitely, definitely.
Yeah, no, that's, that's, that's great.
Cause I always wanted to, uh, understand, uh, like that, that connection.
Now you, you answer my question.
Um, yeah, definitely go ahead.
Um, yeah, no, so, and again, I love that you have, that's how you met him.
Now I want to just go back because you have a little bit of experience now going through
controversy and you sort of understand the, uh, the system of the UFC, right?
Now I want to kind of know what's your relationship with John Jones, because you know, he already,
he went through some controversy as well.
So when you were going through, or when he was rather going through his situation, did
Were you guys in contact?
Uh, did he ask you for any advice?
You know, he's, he's a very interesting because, uh, John Jones and I, and I don't like to
talking about when I, John and I, uh, stay close, you know, and, uh, I call John a lot
and John call me a lot, you know, and, uh, I have a good relationship with John Jones.
I respect this, this man a lot, you know, and I talk to, to, to, to him a lot.
And I, I love John Jones, you know, he's my young brother.
And, uh, I like to, to, to stay close with John Jones when I, when I go fight, because
I live in, in California in, uh, John Jones live a little far and, uh, I live in LA.
John Jones live a little far, but, uh, when I, John Jones have fight, I call and say, Hey,
You know, when you come to LA, just come to visit me.
And I, I have a good relationship with Jones.
So when he was going through his situation, he never reached out to you to say, Hey, Anderson,
what do I do in this case?
I'm going to say, man, just putting the good people to work close to you, to prove you're
innocent, to give everything, every single support for you, you know?
And, uh, everybody, everybody make mistake, you know, it's a human beings.
This, I'm going to happen.
Nobody can judge you for something you're doing wrong because when you're doing something wrong,
you have a chance to change and doing something correct.
Except one thing, when you lost your life, or take the life to somebody, you know?
Then it's too late, yeah.
But when you're doing something normal that everybody doing, because everybody make mistakes
You need to understand and take the opportunity to learn and doing something better, you know?
Yeah, no, for sure, for sure.
And that's, that's a great segue to talk about, um, you know, we, we talk about a lot about
the support system, uh, like in the team around, like, you know, athletes.
And, um, I know, obviously, uh, today your team is pretty, like, you know, well-rounded and
you have, like, amazing people working with you, like, you know, like my sister, Taliesba,
But, uh, at the same time, I wanted to understand, uh, in the beginning of your career, right?
Uh, and that happens with a lot of different athletes, by the way.
In the beginning of your career, uh, were you surrounded by, like, you know, people that
Of course, like, you know, can you talk about, uh, those type of, uh, time?
Like, you know, this time, like, you know, uh, where you have, like, you know, people that
wasn't, you know, uh, yeah, definitely go ahead.
Now, wait, Anderson, now, wait, Anderson, before you answer that, just remember, we work
for French, you just don't give them all the secrets now.
French, my brother, let me, let me, let me tell you something very important.
And, in, in, uh, everybody make, make mistakes when you start, you know, especially in the
fight war, you know, because what happened?
And, uh, in, in, in another day, everybody knows you, you have a new friend, you have
a lot of people just hang out with you, say, oh, you can do anything because you're the
champ, you blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, but I'm lucky because the, the, the martial
war, uh, philosophy I have in my life helped me to don't make, uh, huge mistake in my life,
So, in essence, what he's saying is that, you know, if I go wrong for whatever reason,
just give me another chance, don't you let me go.
All right, all right, all right.
Yeah, I mean, I just, I just try to, you know, every single time, the people need you
So, you, you go make mistakes, doesn't matter, happen, you come famous, you, probably, you
don't have good people behind you, you go make mistakes.
But, the more important is, you need to understand the purpose that God has for you and the good
people you put in your life to never make a huge mistake for you, never come back, you
Because the, the problems you have, the mistakes you go do it, but when you have the good support,
the good friends, real friends, and family, you can do anything, you can do, you, you can
make mistakes, but you learn and doing something better.
And I totally agree with what you say.
Uh, mainly the way, uh, and I, I can't really speak about it by being like, you know, for
example, like one of Mike Tyson agents, I know exactly what you're talking about, because
it's not always about like the financial gain, right?
It's about the well-being of the, the talent, your brother, like, you know what I mean?
Me, I hate when people say like, yeah, you're the manager, you're the agent.
No, like, he's my brother first.
If there's a deal who makes like, you know, $10 million and he's not beneficial to himself
or to him, I won't take it.
Like, you know what I mean?
So, and that's, that's, that's the type of thing that like, you know, uh, people need
And, uh, that's basically what you, you're saying as well.
Like, you know, uh, the decision-making is very important and having like this, uh, very,
very valuable support system around you, uh, make you be like a better person, a better
You're a better businessman today because, uh, you understand, uh, I mean, in contact with
those people, you understand business will be better, I assume, right?
Because, right, you know that, you know, so, uh, sometimes you work to the, the, the famous
people and, uh, the guy never listened to the good people.
He's tried to listen to the stupid people.
That's the problem, you know?
And, uh, sometimes this has happened to me, you know, and, uh, sometimes, oh, oh, this
I come to, this is amazing deal for you.
And I say, okay, that's good.
And, oh, I go sign here in, in, uh, one year I lost everything and say, oh my God, but
you're not my friend, bro.
I can't, I can't, uh, talk to you now and never answer the phone again.
This happens to every single famous people don't believe it in your real and professional
Because the professional friends is the people go to work in the good things for you.
And the good friends never lie to you and say, okay, this is good money, but it's not good
That's the good professional.
And, and, uh, I mean, I speak, uh, with a manager, like, you know, a lot, like, you know,
Talisa and what we, we usually say is that like, you know, no is the most of like, most
of the time no is the better answer.
Like, you know, like no is the better answer, you know, because, uh, uh, you know,
uh, there's a lot of, uh, uh, uh, difficulties, like, you know, surrounding like, you know,
athletes and their entourage, like, you know, most of the time.
I think, uh, for most of the athletes out there, especially top tier athletes like yourself.
So, uh, no, having like, you know, a very great support system is very, very important.
And, and, uh, I think that you, uh, you have that now.
And, uh, and I mean, we can see it, like, you know, that the way you move and the way
you're the different things that you're doing, you can see it, uh, that there's not something
that, like, you know, uh, that's something that we can see.
So that's, uh, I'm very happy for you.
And then for everything that you actually, yeah, you, you come old, you, you come with more
experience, you learn more, you know, and, uh, I thank God.
I, I have a good team, you know, and I learned a lot with the others, uh, uh, professional
fighters, you know, and professional athletes, you know, and, uh, I just, I remember one
time when I stay with Kobe and I just asking something very important for Kobe to say, why
you can't, uh, live with that situation, you famous, you, why, why are you doing for, uh,
And Kobe say, you know, this is a matter of habit, people never stay in your sight.
And this is a matter of habit, you don't believe yourself.
You never come better for you.
You need to believe yourself in the one I people thank you.
Oh, because you the bad guy, you this, that make a bad guy, you the bad guy, but the people
never stay in your sight to doing something better for you.
You know, just do your best, do your best for the people you believe in is your friends.
The people you believe in need you, you support, you know, that's, I try to, to do it in my
life, you know, and I, every single day I learned something new one.
Uh, I try to, uh, help the others, you know, and doing something special for the people.
And, and, and now like same type of support system, of course, now like your family, right?
Like, so how, like, you know, we, we, we talk about like, you know, how it was hard or
harder, like, you know, in the beginning of your career, but now, uh, now that your kids
are, you know, uh, grown and then you, you, you, you, you're a grandfather now and everything.
So how is your, your family structure now, like this support system around the family,
now that you less in, uh, you know, in the, in the spotlight, but did you have the time
to, uh, you know, make up the time for the, all those years that you, you, you, you lost
being like, you know, a fighter and all that.
I try to pass more time, you know, the good time, you know, with my kids is no more, it's
not kids anymore, you know, 22, 23, 24, you know, it's 20, you know, it is no more
babes in the house, but it's good because it's very close.
My kids is very close to me and I stay with my kids, uh, whole time.
I just talk to my kids every day, you know, when I have a time to, to hang out, I stay
I try to pass my whole experience and the kids learning a lot and listening a lot, you
know, and, uh, I try to, to do the good support for my kids, make a good decision in life, you
Like, you know, I love seeing your videos with you and, and, and, uh, you know, Khalil
and Gabriel, like, you know, uh, training and all that.
That's very, uh, uh, I love that.
You, you definitely inspire me a lot.
I don't want to see him fighting in the ring.
He's not, he's going to, they won't call him, they won't call him this fighter.
See, Anderson, what you did, like you got him.
Oh, you're suffering, you're suffering bullying too.
Um, but, uh, you know, I wanted to kind of bring it back.
And I definitely want to open this floor up to the, uh, to the guests soon, the listeners
Uh, so have your questions ready guys, and go ahead and retweet this room so that we can get
more engagement on this wonderful conversation.
And I want to take it to, um, a moment that, that stood out to me because, uh, you know,
I know that you have a very gentle voice, but it seems like you also have a very gentle
And I say this because UFC 234, you broke down during your weigh-ins against Israel.
I wanted to know what made you so emotional.
You know, I think the fight with Israel for me is a, is a, is a very, very big challenge,
you know, because, and that fight, I prove for my fans in the world, how much I love my
job, how much I like to learn martial arts, because this, I mean, I happen, you know, I
lost the fight, of course, but I don't see nobody fight the same I fight with Israel, you
know, and, uh, I don't know, maybe because I know, I believe in my entire experience inside
the martial arts, every single, uh, discipline I training, I put in, in, in, inside the cage
and the time when I fight with Israel, you know, and, uh, Israel is a champ, you know, is
a champion, and I respect Israel a lot, but I believe in, I'm the only one fight, uh, doing
the good fight for Israel.
He stated that you are the best fighter to have ever fought in MMA.
So the respect, the respect is mutual.
Go ahead, NFT kid, I want you to jump in.
Yeah, sorry, I was, I've been driving this whole time, but yes, Mr. Spider, uh, I just
wanted to ask one question about a fight.
There was a fight between Shale Sun and you a while ago, and, um, how mad did he make you?
Because that fight buildup was just so intense, one of the most intense fights, and then you
come back and just beat him in the fifth round.
I mean, it was, it was an amazing, amazing fight.
It was amazing, like, come up story, everything about it.
So I just kind of want to know your, like, I don't know, your experience and feelings about
You know, my fight with Shale, my first fight, is, uh, very interesting.
And, uh, first of all, uh, Shale is my friend, you know, and I respect Shale a lot.
And, uh, but I believe in the first fight, I'm, I'm, I tried to do my best, but I hurt
And, uh, I, the, I, the doctor in, uh, two weeks talked to me and say, you, you can't
You're, you're, you're broke your hips.
And I say, okay, doctor, I'm not going, I'm go home.
And, and, uh, two days I just walk in and I don't train me.
I just try to recover a little bit.
And I just talk to my manager, Ed Suarez in the time say, Ed, I go fight in the, in, uh,
and I'd say, you sure, you sure, bro, you don't need to do that.
And I say, no, I need to do that because I promised to my master Minotauro, I go finish
this, this guy, you know, and what happened, I'm make the stupid decision to fight with
Shale with my, my ribs broken, you know, it's crazy.
I hope that answered your question.
Um, I found out about it, I think a little bit after the fight.
So I definitely knew, but, um, yeah, there was just, it, it was all kind of mind power
that you came through that and, uh, kind of the never give up attitude, obviously that
you have just ingrained in you.
And then one more fight that just happened.
It was a boxing match between Jake Paul.
Like what was your overall overall, like thought of Jake Paul and the buildup and, um, like,
what was the experience like for you?
Cause I know it was boxing and you're more of a, I mean, if you were just able to throw
elbows or knees, it would have been done.
You know, I think, I think, you know, I have the different experience.
I win a lot, but, uh, I feel that in, in that specific fight, uh, the people think the Jake
don't, don't, don't, don't have a boxing to fight with the people, but Jake has, you
know, he's, uh, he's training hard every day, you know, he's training hard.
He's a very good fighter.
And, uh, I waiting for, uh, uh, Jake and, uh, Diaz fight and maybe, uh, Jake give me the,
uh, the revenge, you know, because I agree, I can fight again with Jake and doing the
better fight, you know, but I, I respect Jake a lot, you know, I respect Jake a lot.
And, uh, I think the fight is, is this, you know, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose
and the more important and you make something special for your fans and learn something for
your future, you know, it's not about only inside the ring, but outside.
You know, Frenchy, you want to jump in?
No, no, I was, uh, talking about like, go ahead.
I'm going to ask my question after you.
Um, yeah, no, I mean that, that fight with Jake Paul, I think a lot of people kind of,
you know, they all believe even to the core, even me to some degree that you may have thrown
that fight, but you know, I mean, we won't get into those details just yet, but you can,
you could tell us if there was maybe an extra couple of dollars there that allowed you to
maybe just give it to Jake Paul.
Am I allowed to say that?
Or does that break your contract?
I don't understand what you say.
No, I said it very fast because I'm, I'm trying to imply, uh, that you gave Jake Paul this
You know, I fight, uh, for win, but Jake is, is better than me in, in, in, in the night,
I can't, I can't let you, I can't let you say that.
You know, like, yeah, he's so humble.
He's the most humble guy in the world.
I mean, a lot of people say, you know, a lot of people say, oh, you win the fight.
You win the fight because Jake, run, run, run.
I think Jake wins the fight and they're waiting for the next challenge, you know, maybe after
Nah, look, I like Jake, Jake, Jake is my, he's my guy, I like him, but you can't say that
it's better than you in any type of, you gotta relax.
I mean, it's not better than me, but in the night is better than me, you know, is win
In the moment, it's better than me.
So I'm, I'm going to accept that, but I, I, I know that a lot of your fans don't believe
it, but I, we're going to leave it there.
Let me tell you something.
I don't believe it too, but you know, win the fight.
You know, it's win the fight.
Now, uh, I, I'd like to take it back a little bit, uh, Frenchy, but if you want to stay on
this topic, by all means, you can ask your question.
No, no, no, let's, let's keep the jackpost up.
Now, uh, the, the infamous kick seen around the world against Chris, uh, Weidman in 2013,
I believe it was, if I'm not mistaken.
I mean, did it, did you think it was going to end your career completely?
Because that was a career ending injury.
Well, you know, uh, I passed in for different, uh, experience inside this sport, you know,
uh, and I have a magic moment in, uh, terrible moments inside, you know, in the moment when
I broke my leg, the moment when I doing the special kick and Vitor Belfort, you know, in
a gift, the name for my company, Spider Kick, you know, but I think everything is, is about,
uh, moment, you know, you have a magic moment in, in, in your life.
When you're working hard, you have a special and magic moment, you know, you have a bad
I mean, but the recovery process was probably very stressful, maybe psychologically
I can't imagine thinking that this is what makes your money.
This is what, you know, provides for your family.
And then suddenly you're, you know, your leg splits in half and now you have to figure
out how you're going to get back into the game, how you're going to be able to fight
Will it ever be the same?
Well, you know, in the moment when I broke my leg, I just passed in the bad moments, you
know, I just, I feel, I never come back to fight, you know, in the, in the first, uh,
six months, you know, and, uh, my family gave me the whole support, you know, my kids give
It's tough for me to come back to home, you know, and see my kids, uh, waiting for me and
see my wife waiting for me.
And, uh, the people love me, waiting for me to come back home is very tough.
And, uh, in this moment, I just try to, uh, think something, uh, to change my life, you
know, the experience to change my life, you know, using the whole, uh, painful, the whole
experience, the bad experience I have in the moment to change my life, you know?
And that's, I do, that's, I do.
And I, that's, I'm here again, you know, and that's, I continue challenge myself.
That's, I continue, uh, uh, working hard to make something better and better in my life.
So is it safe to say that, like, you know, this injury allow you to kind of, uh, design
that new career for you and, uh, basically have like all those extra, uh, athletic, uh, stuff
You know, the injury helped me to a lot of things, you know, Frenchie, Frenchie, because
look, when I broke my leg, I stopped to see my whole business because I put in a lot of
people to work for me and the people do a lot of things wrong, you know?
And when I broke, it's the, it's the first time I stopped to shake it out every single
part of my business, you know?
And, uh, and the time when I broke my leg, I start cut the bad people in my life, you
know, because, you know, the God is so special.
The God is so amazing because imagine the God, the God don't show me, uh, everything.
Maybe today I'm not here to talk with my fans.
Maybe I'm not have a chance to do in the better life to my family, you know?
And, um, I think God is so, so perfect, you know?
No, definitely, definitely.
The moment I broke my leg, I stopped to shake it out, everything.
Changed my business, changed my, my bookkeeper, changed everything.
A blessing of these guys, man.
It's almost like, um, you know, like you have to go through this trial or this sort of, uh,
obstacle in order for you to see everything around you that's going wrong, right?
To be able to clean it up.
You know, and, uh, you know, I think that God gave me the, the, give me the chance to come
back, you know, and, uh, say, you know, it's, you, you don't have this, you never stop.
I, I, I'm sorry, but you go broke your leg because I know you go stop.
There's absolute, no, no, absolutely not.
I completely understand what you're saying.
I think that sometimes God needs to shake you a little bit in order for you to figure out
what's going on and take it, take a moment to, to restructure your environment.
Because it's not going the right way.
This is what's happened to me.
The whole thing, you know.
I mean, uh, and, and we definitely proud of you for actually doing all the things that
you do and how you actually overcome, overcome, overcame like, you know, this whole situation
because to, to, you, you, you probably, let's talk about your mindset during that, that time.
Like, it's probably like, you know, one of the hardest thing.
I have some people like, you know, playing soccer, I mean, football and all that experience
and stuff and stuff, but like, you know, the, the, the injury that you had, like, was
like something really crazy.
Like how, how, like, you know, how do you find the, the, the motivation, like the strength
to overcome that situation?
You know, well, it's very interesting because the motivation is my family give me the whole
motivation, you know, and I just, I, I, I remember I look in the window and I, I look
the people, uh, running in the beach and I say, wow, I, I need you back to run.
I need you back to doing something, you know, and the, the whole support my, my family give
me, help me to, you know, reborn in doing something special and doing something new one in my life,
So I wanted to ask you now, if we can, sorry about my headphones here.
If I'm curious to know before you ended your, your career and, uh, you know, you had an
opportunity to potentially, and I think it was just kind of something that people were
just talking about in the wind, but it was probably one of the most, I don't know.
I feel like it would make me live out a dream if I ever got to see a GSP and, uh, you know,
an Anderson Silva go to, you know, at each other.
But I've always wanted to see what you guys could do in the ring together.
And I know that the opportunity is not necessarily there anymore, but would there ever be a potential?
Of course you have potential.
You know, I, I just, I believe one thing, uh, uh, George, Sampia and I can do anything,
you know, and I respect George a lot and, uh, you know, I think George and I can do another
special exhibition fight, you know, because, you know, George don't have, don't have more,
uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, interesting time to training to hurt yourself.
George have a family the same me, you know, the different than me, the George kid.
It's so young, you know, and imagine the guy start training, start learn something new
and then training to fight and hurt yourself.
It's not, it's, it's, it's not make sense, you know, and I believe in Jordan and I can
do in the, the exhibition fight, you know, for the fans, because everybody asking for this
fight, everybody asking to see George, Sampia and Anderson Silva fight.
My dream, you know, I think that's good fight in boxing, you know, in this official fight,
you know, I think everything is possible.
You know, when you have a God in your life, everything is possible.
You know, Anderson, I agree with you.
And, um, if you are ever in the mood to, uh, fulfill a wish for someone like myself who
desperately wants to see a GSB and Anderson Silva fight, please, I would love to see it.
Just George is my friend.
And I go talk, I go talk to, I go talk to George and, and, uh, and see George interesting
to doing the exhibition fight, you know, but let me tell, let me tell something.
This happened is not real fight, you know, it's only exhibition.
George and I is friends, you know, George is my friend, you know, and probably the people
go see, but listen, listen, if it happens, just remember me and remember you made my dreams
That's all you need to know.
Make it happen, Anderson.
I go, I promise I go try.
Well, before we take, uh, you know, some, uh, people, uh, you know, uh, to take some people,
uh, to take, to do, to give some, uh, question.
Why don't I speak Brazilian now?
No, like I would say like, you know, I'm a, I'm a, make sure that like, you know, I
don't want to, uh, get you to, uh, uh, you know, strain that we have, uh, here.
I want to make sure that we get like some questions.
It's probably because it's 6 a.m.
But anyway, so, um, uh, I'm a, let MJ keep going.
Um, one thing I wanted to actually
ask you before we get into, uh, getting some questions from the audience, cause I know
that we, we won't keep you too long.
Um, Conor McGregor seems to be sort of the voice of the trash talk in UFC or MMA rather.
So, uh, you know, you saw how Khabib, you know, destroyed him.
Um, do you think that his bark is louder than his bite?
That's an expression, right?
Do you think that he talks more than he's capable of delivering?
No, I think the people need to respect, uh, Conor, you know, because Conor, uh, bring for the,
the, the, the new generation, the sport, the, the good news, you know, the good things, you
know, the trash talk and make the, the sports more exciting, you know, but it's, the problem
is, it's not about only talk is you need to go inside the ring.
You need to go inside the cage and do your crazy and amazing job, you know, and what happened
at the last, the last, I think the last three fights for Conor is, uh, don't put in the,
the, the guys, uh, make a good challenge for, for, uh, Conor, you know, Khabib, we have
Khabib is, uh, is amazing.
It's for me, Khabib is, is the best fight in, inside the cage.
Because if it doesn't matter what happened, Khabib never give a chance for nobody to prove
It's go inside and, and, and putting your game inside the people and put it on the ground
and stop and finish the fight, you know, and that's changed a lot because the game changed
a lot, you know, Conor is a strike guy.
He's not, he's not the guy to fight in the ground and, uh, the people like to see Conor
McGregor in, in, uh, stand up and fight with the other strike.
When you see the, the Conor fight with, uh, Khabib, you don't see the strike guy, you know,
you see the, the, the only, the supremacy, the Khabib supremacy inside the, the, the cage,
you know, but I respect both.
And bring for the, the new generation, uh, the talk show, you know, and, uh, doing something
very, very important for the sport too.
The people need respect the Conor McGregor.
Uh, one more, sorry, let me just quickly add to that because, um, I mean, you saw the
I understand that you're saying he brings excitement to, um, you know, to the space, but, you know,
sometimes there's a thin line, you know, between respect and disrespect.
So, you know, at what point does it become disrespectful?
You know, you saw the situation where Khabib and Khabib's team, you know, uh, got angry with
Conor and his team and during that, but that whole bus fight, I don't know if you remember
You know, it's tough because, listen, I can't, I can't say nothing bad about Conor, you know,
of course he's doing something wrong.
I say, when I start the conversation, you know, the human beings is make mistake, you know,
and this amount of happened, you need, you want to stand and.
Learn something you want, so you don't make the same mistake in your life, you know, and
I know, um, uh, you know, Conor brings a lot of things back, but I believe in one thing.
I, I don't, I don't know, uh, nothing about Conor, uh, personal and I, I can't say Conor
is the bad or good, but for me as a good man, but for the athlete, famous athlete in doing
a lot of things wrong, you know, and this is bad for sports, it's bad for your own image
and a lot of people like him, a lot of people hate him, you know, and I, it's the same, you know.
No, absolutely, absolutely.
Now, would you say, you, you said that, that Khabib is hands down the best fighter in the cage.
So that's your favorite fighter?
My, Khabib is one of my favorite fights, you know, John Jones is my favorite and
the other guy, you know, everybody say, oh, why you say this guy is the best fight?
Why you say all time this guy is, is that you're the best fight?
But, but I believe in BJ Penn is the best fight ever in UFC.
Ooh, Keith, any words on that?
I mean, I, uh, that's, that's, I, I agree, you know, uh, BJ Penn changed the, the game,
you know, BJ Penn make the, bring to the, to the, to the time when a BJ Penn fight, bring
the new level for the MMA, you know, and, uh, I believe in BJ Penn is the best fight.
I hope you guys heard that.
So I'm going to open the stage up for a few questions.
I know we had Doodle on stage a second ago and hopefully he'll be back.
Um, yeah, in the meantime, in between time, let's get some questions in guys.
Go ahead and retweet this room.
These, uh, rooms are recorded.
So replays are indeed on, uh, let me go ahead and bring some,
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
I want to ask something first.
That's just for me first.
I got a couple of questions.
First one is just for me.
Uh, what is your playlist when, before going on?
And you're listening to soft 90s R&B or what's going on?
You know, you're bullying me too, bro.
You know, I listen to, you know,
You know, you and, uh, we always meet bull me a lot.
You know, that's not good.
You know, that's not, that's not good, bro.
You, you need to stop bullying me.
You know, I love you, bro.
I know you love me, but you bully me a lot.
I, I just, you know, the whole time when I, when I stay in my camp training, when I go
to the fight, I just listen to the old and terrible R&B, you know, in the, my kids say,
No, dad, this is too old.
You know, when I, you know, I just, I, I love this song, bro.
You need to stop bullying me.
I'm with you all that, man.
There's nothing better than 90s R&B.
Nothing better than that.
No, nothing, you know, and so my favorite is, is, is, uh, uh, uh, uh, jagged ass, you
know, when I, every time I just, when I listen to jagged ass in my car.
You kick your ass on jagged ass?
And my kids say, dad, stop, man.
Now you're doing flying kicks listening to jagged ass, bro.
Cause I say, come on, I'm grandfather now.
You're not cheating like a video, you know?
She said, let me, let me hang out with my, my good son, bro.
And, uh, the last one is more, uh, I want to talk about your acting career, man.
Like I know you have a movie coming out.
You know, I, I work, I work with my cult, you know,
And I, I love this man, bro.
And, um, I work with Michael Olmos is the director.
And it's so amazing movie, you know, more than city is coming to, uh, to be very soon.
And, uh, I have the new, the different projects come with, with Michael, you know, uh, Michael
Olmos, uh, because I learned to, you know, I, I write to, I, I, I write stories too.
I, I'm, I mean, I'm not professional, but, uh, no, no, no, I get it.
I try to write and I'm doing something very special and, uh, very soon I have a news for
Can you share it with us right now?
No, I can't talk right now.
But I promise, I think it's come to the, the new franchise for the, the good movies,
I'm working hard for that.
Well, I'm going to throw a couple of names out there, but like, you know, it's either the
Fast and Furious or the Expendables.
No, I think it's better than both.
I go to the space, but it's something crazy go happen and make this movie.
I working hard for a long years, you know, to doing something special because I believe
When you have a good movies and the good stories, stay for rest, the life, you know?
You need to make a good stories, good movies and putting people to go inside the story
with you, you know, putting the, the, the whole people when I'm watching come inside
the story with you, you know?
So, and that's, I try to, to make something special.
You, I'm very proud of you, man.
Like you definitely are doing a lot of great things.
I'm very proud of you, my brother.
I mean, the story of Anderson Silva in itself is actually a phenomenal story that should
be written and you should have, you know, something in the works with your, your, your
I think that would be phenomenal to watch, right?
So, um, it's come to the Paramount Plus.
I don't say nothing for anybody except for you guys.
It's come to the Paramount.
It's a, it's a story about my life, you know, when I, the beginning.
But, um, I think it's good.
I think everybody will like it.
Like, you know, how, how, what is it called?
Um, uh, I don't, I, I, I can't talk right now.
You cannot, you cannot talk, you cannot talk about it, but stay tuned.
Paramount, Paramount Plus.
Is that Paramount Plus or just Paramount?
Spider come to the Paramount Plus.
Anderson, Anderson, Anderson, Anderson's being a little, a little, a little secretive.
No, but listen, he gave us, he gave us some exclusive, like.
He gave us some exclusive.
But what I will ask you, Frenchie, because I know you guys have a brotherhood, but why hasn't
Mike Tyson been training you to go against Jake Paul?
That's, that's the only question I really had.
Listen, Mike Tyson can help you to train me.
He's probably, go kill me, you know, and I'll never fight again.
The people don't believe it, you know.
You can, you can train with Mike Tyson.
Probably, you go, go kill me.
I'm not, I'm Mike Tyson's friend, you know.
Like, you know, you don't want to be like, you know, on the side.
But look, at the end of the day, Mike, the problem with Mike is, I always tell him, when
he gets in his mode, he's just like a beast.
Like, you know, when he gets to his mode, he's just like, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's
It's just like, you guys have like the same mentality.
You just got like fight to kill.
Like, you know, I don't know.
Even him in training to kill.
I said, like, where, where are you going?
Always he tell me, I'm back.
I said, bro, like, it's not the night.
Yeah, no, definitely not.
Listen, sister, you don't love me.
I'm not going anywhere with Mike Tyson except to take the juice.
Well, Mike Tyson would never allow you to give it to Jake Paul.
Now, probably Mike might have a lot of experience to help me, you know, to teach me something.
But training with Mike Tyson, spying with Mike Tyson, never.
And, bro, Mike is still very fast.
He's very fast and very, like, explosive, man.
I'm like, bro, you got to relax.
Honestly, it would be an honor to get punched by Mike, Frenchy, just so you know.
It would just – to spar with Mike, I wouldn't even hit him back.
I would just try to move.
That is a nice death to have.
The people is crazy when people think about Mike Tyson.
It's not ready for fight, you know.
It's just change the key.
Ready to kill everybody inside the ring.
No, he definitely didn't lose it.
Like, you know what I mean?
It's just, as you say, he just turned the key.
Like, when he get in his mode, and he got, like, muscle memory.
So, when he gets to training, he gets in shape real fast, and all that is all in his mode.
And I was like, who – what are you training for?
Like, you know, what's going on?
An apocalypse, that's what.
So, the good thing is me and Mike just doing the break fast.
No training sparring, not session sparring.
I can see Mike beating everybody, but not me, definitely.
We're going to take some questions and let you go.
Oh, I have, like, the last one for me.
So, when you do, like, a retrospect on your legacy, do you think that it's complete?
Are you satisfied with what you accomplished?
Yeah, I'm completely satisfied.
Now, I just try to pass everything I learned in my entire life from my two kids, you know.
To the kids doing your own story, you know.
And every day, I try to pass something new for my babies, you know.
And that's my mission now.
The next fight with Jake Paul, you know.
I'm preparing my mind to war.
And when I'm training, I'm training to go to war.
And I believe in the, the, the, I, hopefully the Jake accept the challenge after this fight with Diaz.
And we'll see, we'll see, we'll see.
And I go talk sister with, uh, George St. Pierre.
But remember, with George St. Pierre is.
I want to see, but I want to see blood.
Anderson, I want to see blood.
I'm just messing with you.
So Anderson, you've been a joy.
Let me go ahead and open the floor up to some people who have been waiting patiently to speak to the legend.
So we've got Mr. X, you can take the floor first.
I'll go High TV second, Honeycomb, Mitch, and then Mindset.
Thank you very much for having me.
I'll just go first to say something in Portuguese to Anderson, and then I will make a question in English, if that's okay.
Ok, so I just told him that it has been an honor to be here to speak with him, because I have been following his career since the Pride days, and, you know, for me, he's one of the top 3 ever fighters.
My favorite top 3 is Anderson Silva, it's Habib, and it's Kenjusuki Sakuraba.
From the Pride days, his nickname was the Grey Sea Hunter.
I wanted to ask you something, Anderson.
It's a question that I always like to make.
You know, you are a professional fighter, ok?
When you go in the ring, it's you earning your bread.
But what was the fight that really gave you a special pleasure to beat up your opponent?
That you really wanted, really, really, really, really to beat him up?
So, I have the different fights.
I have the pleasure to beat the guys, you know.
But it's tough to say, you know, because it's not personal.
And, you know, sometimes the people don't understand.
But I have a couple guys I beat in.
I take the pleasure to beat inside the ring, inside the cage.
You want to say who are they?
But, you know, I can say the special fight for me.
My first title belt with Hayato Sakurai in Japan.
It's my special and very emotional fight.
Because it's my first fight.
I realized I fight for my country in my first title belt.
It's like a super arena, right?
Yes, I took a super arena.
I have the different fights, you know.
I have a special and a very...
The fights I love to talk about, you know.
With Dan Henderson, because Dan Henderson is an amazing fighter, you know.
I think nobody knows that.
Because when I fight with Dan Henderson, I talk to Dana White to put in the...
Unificate the title, the pride in UFC.
When I finish the fight, I win Dan Henderson.
Dana White don't give me the belt, the pride belt.
But send it to my house, you know.
Because I have the title belt to the pride in the shoto in UFC.
You know, in the cage race.
That's amazing, you know.
I mean, I can say that, like, you know.
The person that I enjoy you beating him up was Vito Balfour.
Frankie, you take me, bro.
All right, next question.
Thank you for your question.
I hope that answered it for you.
Hi TV, I believe the floor is yours.
Hi TV, going once, going twice.
Saved by the bell, my brother.
Frenchie, I met you with Benzino back at the Outbox.
It was good seeing you then.
Oh, good to see you, bro.
Anderson, I have one question for you.
I heard you mention that, you know, you are looking for a rematch with Jake Paul and that,
you know, you want to do an exhibition fight with George St. Pierre.
Is there, if let's just say, for, you know, whatever reason, none of these things go through,
is there something else that you have planned for the next fight?
Because honestly, watching you box Jake Paul, I was, I wasn't one bit surprised because I
know that you were always talented when it came to, you know, striking.
But to see you move the way you were moving out there, you look, you should be out there
So my great question is, when is the next fight, if not Jake Paul?
I'm just waiting, you know.
And now I have to, I have to talk to my brother, George St. Pierre, you know, to make the exhibition
fight because my sister there, you know, just pushed me hard to make this fight.
She practically twisted your arm to her.
MJ, you're not, you're not, you're not cool, man.
Like you're twisting Anderson's arm.
I mean, listen, that's just what it is.
You have to understand and know that I put him in position to do this exhibition fight.
But, but Anderson, let me tell you something.
You know, she's from Canada, she's from Canada, right?
Hey, we want you to win against him, okay?
So, but, but don't worry.
It's a, it's a, it's a exhibition.
Just a little bit of red.
And say it was an accident.
I hope that answered your question, dear.
I'm going to go ahead and throw it to Honeycomb.
Honeycomb, the floor is yours.
Good evening, Frenchie and Silva.
There's so many, I love your first round knockouts, right?
Just, uh, the excitement of coming in and energy and, and cleaning it down.
Your humbleness, being in spaces like this and sharing your story is, uh, outstanding.
Uh, biggest impact of what you're talking though.
Um, even through it, you, you give it to God.
And, and in that, that touched me more than, uh, you know, of watching you beat the shit
out of people and, and the level of it.
And then, and then just the emotion that came through of the, the trials and tribulations
that you went through and how you embraced it and, and recognized.
And I coincidentally or ironically, however big air quotes you want, these other ailments
that didn't align fell off.
And now you're here achieving of, of the greatness that you are and giving back to the community
and focusing on the children.
And I just wanted to jump up and say, man, I, it is an honor and, and, and thank you for
being the shepherd you are for the people who need you, who need it most, man.
Oh, thank you so much, my friend.
I, I, I agree one thing, you know, God give me the, the opportunity to help the others,
you know, is inspiring the other people, help the other people to do something in your
And, uh, I need to say thank you, brother.
Thank you for everything.
Thank you for, uh, follow me to help me to continue doing my best.
I hope that answered your question or rather your comment.
So the next person up is Mitch and then I'll throw it to fighting chance network.
Mitch, the floor is yours.
Thanks for letting me up.
Uh, hope everyone's having a good night.
It's been an awesome conversation.
I love listening to Anderson.
He's such a humble person.
Uh, yeah, it's just awesome.
My question for you, Anderson is, uh, I felt like when you and Izzy fought, it was like a
passing of the torch between the, uh, middleweights.
Um, and now we saw what happened with, uh, Izzy and Pereira fight.
Uh, I was just curious, like, what was, like, what was your stance between them two?
Obviously, because Pereira is from, uh, Brazil as well.
But I felt like you and Izzy probably have, like, a special connection.
And then, uh, obviously Pereira is going up in weight class.
And I know you did as well when you, uh, fought Forrest Griffin.
And, uh, how do you think that will pay off for Pereira?
And is that, like, a, a good thing for you?
Because you can now root for both of them in, like, the best sense possible?
Or, uh, yeah, just what's your, uh, thoughts on that?
My brother, I, I, I believe in, uh, Pereira is amazing, is, uh, amazing and a good fight
You know, but, uh, fight is, is very interesting because sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
But, uh, I think Pereira can make mistakes to go to the, the different, uh, class.
You know, I think, uh, Pereira don't, don't do the, the, everything in the midway class.
But, is, every single person have your own dream, your own goal.
You know, and I respect Pereira is, uh, my friend.
And, uh, I, I just pray for you, for, for Pereira to do your best in your career inside UFC.
And, like, when you went up in weight class, uh, was that, like, a struggle or, you know,
you see John Jones do it, um?
My brother, when I, when I, when I, the guys put him in a, in a different class, it's not
It's because Dana tried to put him in a, in a bad situation and challenge him, you know?
And, uh, I'm a martial art guy.
I'm not, first of all, I'm a martial art guy.
I'm not, uh, fighter, you know?
And I'm using my whole skills in my entire life in martial arts for win.
In my weight, in the, the different class, you know?
And, uh, I just try to, to do my best to prove one thing.
Martial arts is different for fight.
You know, the people fight, uh, sometimes, but don't have the martial arts background and
the legacy behind the, the, your body, you know, behind your, your heart, behind your
And I have a martial arts, the, the, the basic to build my entire career is a martial arts
That's what I make successful when the people put them in a challenge to move to the different,
uh, uh, category, you know?
It's a whole different type of like honor and discipline martial arts versus just fighting.
Well, uh, thank you for that question.
I hope that answered it for you, Mitch.
I'm going to go ahead and move you down now so I can give the opportunity to, uh, clear
up the floor and allow someone else to speak.
So fighting chance network, please ask your question.
Uh, man, first of all, you know, thank you so much.
I am extremely grateful to be up here and ask this question, Mr. Silva.
I've been a fan for so long.
I am so appreciative of this opportunity.
Now I'm going to get down to it.
Es un honor y un placer para, para, para, para hablar contigo en este, en este lugar
aquí en el Twitter space.
So my question, the attitude, the attitude of fighters, uh, like you say, you're this
martial artist, man, and there's always this respect and, and there's this way that you
It's not a crazy way of being there's confidence in the ring, but, but nobody outside of the
ring sees you as a flashy kind of crazy attitude person.
But the time when you find Nick Diaz and then his little brother, uh, Nate Diaz, and then
people like Jorge Masvidal that also, that, that come from a Hispanic culture that, that
They're very tough, but these guys get in that ring and they, they fight, they fight for
So that, that mentality from the martial artist who stays cool, calm and collective, like
yourself, Liora Machida, people like that compared to those, what, how do you feel about
How do you feel about that style?
Brother, I, I respect a lot the GS brothers, you know, and, uh, is this style, you know,
that's, that's the style for the guys, you know, my background, I learned, I started
learning, uh, the capoeira in my school and, uh, go to the Taekwondo to learn the martial
And I started training Wing Chun, uh, Filipino martial arts in Jiu Jitsu in boxing.
And let me tell you something very important.
You know, when I talk to my old master, when I come to, when I start fighting UFC, when
I talk to my master, master, I, I, now I'm, I'm in UFC, I go fight for the title belt and
And my master say one thing for me.
And I never forget that my master say, that's good.
But, uh, when I start training here, when you come, uh, walking for this door and come
training here, I don't train you to come fighter.
I can't, I train you to come better person, better than me.
Now, you have a chance to change your life, to change the life of your family.
But, remember, everything is going to change.
Something good happened to you is something bad happened to you.
You need to understand and try to put in the martial arts philosophy behind you to protect
you because I teach you to come better person, not for come fighter.
That's the difference for me and the others I believe in, you know.
I hope that answered your question and you're absolutely right, um, Anderson.
Nothing is promised, you know, um, can you guys hear me?
Uh, I hope that answered your question, darling.
So, we're going to go ahead and throw it to a few people.
Guys, make sure you're following your hosts, your speakers.
For more content like this, retweet the, uh, room.
And, uh, up next, we've got Machiavelli.
Machiavelli, where's yours?
We're going to take a couple more and then I'm going to, uh, let my brother go.
No, I don't want to let him go.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
You said he's not leaving.
Listen, he knows he found a home.
Go ahead with your question.
Yo, uh, I just want to like...
I just wanted to say thank you to Freddy, uh, Keith and MJ for having me up.
Hello to everybody else in the building.
But Anderson, um, yo, great job.
You know what I'm saying?
But really, my question has nothing to do with any of that.
How do you feel about the evolution of the new Spider-Man and being now that he looks like
You know what I'm saying?
And like, we've gone full circle now.
You know what I'm saying?
How do you feel about the evolution of the character and now that...
And have you seen the new movie?
Let me tell you something.
But I believe in the next Spider-Man and he come black.
You know, I've been saying that you were the next Spider-Man,
but nobody listens to me.
You know, I think the next Spider-Man and he come black.
Yo, the new Spider-Man is black.
No, he's not Anderson black.
In a Marjo movies, he's not black.
You know, in live action, yes.
But I believe in the next come black.
Yeah, there'll be a live action.
The Marjo do that, you know,
and because it's good to change.
It's very good to change, you know,
and everything is possible in Marjo in DC world, you know.
Yeah, well, if Ariel is black, we can definitely have a...
Hey, well, thank you guys very much for having me up.
Anderson, it's phenomenal what you've done.
You know what I'm saying?
And we look forward to any kind of exhibitions or anything that you have coming up.
Congratulations on your Hall of Fame.
You know, let me interject with a quick question before somebody else jumps in here
because I have a feeling somebody might ask this.
But, you know, in the spirit of, you know, I guess they call it Pride Month, right?
This might be controversial, guys.
How do you feel about born men who identify as women, so trans, you know, fighting born women?
This is very tough conversation, you know.
But I respect everybody, you know.
But when you're talking about the transgenic, you need to respect the whole situation
because it's not easy for the normal people.
It's not easy for the transgenic people.
It's not easy for gay people to live in this world because it's tough, you know,
because these people don't have too much space, you know, in the community, you know.
And the normal people, sometimes, you know, the normal is not normal, but try to judge the people
because it's transgenic, because it's gay, because this, because that.
I believe in the people need respect because the final day, everybody's a human being.
You need respect everybody, you know.
No, definitely, but look, look, me, what I say is that I told Mike Tyson to identify as a woman.
Stop this, stop this, immediately stop, immediately stop.
Immediately, but Anderson, I don't want to say Mike Tyson.
You know, but it's very interesting, you know, talking about that.
But, okay, so the transgenic go to, to, to, inside the sport.
Let's go create something.
No, no, no, no, no, no, nobody go kill us.
I think let's go make the, the, the new category for the transgenic, for the people don't start
talking bullshit about the transgenic people, you know.
And, okay, so the people like to fight MMA with the girls is the transgenic.
Okay, let's go create the one category for the transgenic, you know, and that's it.
Okay, so you go to the Olympic Games.
You go to the Olympic Games.
Oh, you have the, the, the, the ladies, you have the transgenic.
You have the category for the transgenic too, you know.
And that's, stop to talk about the transgenic.
Stop to attack the transgenic people, gay people, you know.
It's, it's completely crazy, you know.
The people need to respect each other.
So, so let me just quickly sum it all up because it is a sensitive topic.
So what you're saying is that you have a love for people and you believe everybody deserves
the opportunity to participate in whatever they'd like to participate in, but to accommodate
them, to make it easy for them.
Let's go, let's go found that the, the space for the people.
I agree, you know, but not go to, not putting the people behind the bus and just judge, you
know, because that's not, not real.
That's not God give the, the chance for everybody to stay here in this plant, you know.
That was, that was beautifully said.
That was very beautifully said.
Did you want to take any more questions, friend?
Well, listen, I'm just going to say he's not living.
I want to let him go, but let's take a couple more.
Let's take a couple more and then I'm going to let you go, brother.
We have, we have, we have been patiently waiting, so I'm going to go ahead and give
We, we, we give it to mindset.
But I'm going to preface, I'm going to preface it with this.
Mindset has a lot of love to give and he has a lot of wisdom behind him, but mindset,
if you can just keep it slightly short so that we can allow other people to also participate,
if that's okay, brother, I love you.
No, but listen, listen, I love, I love mindset monologues, like, you know.
No, no, leave, not to, no.
Only because we have other people raising their hands.
Otherwise, the floor would be completely yours because I love your voice.
And my, and Anderson, my set is a poet too.
Wow, that's, that's a lot of flowers.
And, you know, I'm okay with keeping it short.
I just, I just want to say one, that was a great answer to that question that Emma just asked.
I think in all of this time, I've never heard anybody respond to a question like that in the mindset of, like, let's create a space for them instead of trying to put them in one space or another.
You know, I just wanted to point that out.
But the question that I have after listening to this conversation is, like, you made a lot of choices, you know, like changing, changing your sport when you were younger.
You went through a lot of these controversies and things like that, and you decided to, like, really fight for yourself, you know, was all of this, like, like the martial arts mindset of why you really liked this before you even started doing martial arts?
Because, like, I think it takes a lot of courage to switch sports, especially if you're doing something well at a high level, to switch and try something you've never done, right?
And then going through the controversies and saying, hey, I'm not going to sit back and wait to see what happened.
I'm going to be active about, you know, getting to my victory and claiming my name, my legacy.
So I'm wondering, did that start with just the martial arts, or were you doing this, like, when you were younger?
What were the influences that led you there?
Wow, that's a good question, bro, because I like to respond to you the one thing, you know?
I go do my best, you know?
And this America happened.
You know, the people judge, or the people say, oh, this and that, and it's old.
Oh, Anderson is junky and blah and blah.
And it's a lot of bullshit about me.
I don't care, because I believe in myself.
God gave me the opportunity to come in this planet to doing something special for the others and for myself.
Wow, that was a beautiful answer.
I hope that answered your question mindset.
Amazing, amazing, amazing.
So let's go ahead, and do we have one more?
I think we have SMS, I believe.
Hey, what's going on, Anderson?
It's an honor to kind of be on here and talk to you.
I've been a fighter, kickboxing and Muay Thai fighter, for about 12, 13 years now.
Still a little bit competitive, fall back in August.
Won that fight, but I've dealt with a lot of injuries and setbacks.
Four ACL meniscus reconstructions throughout my whole journey doing it,
but I never kind of stepped back because, you know,
we were honored to have somebody like you that kind of led the way.
You've had some, you know, devastating injuries and still came back from them.
And, you know, kind of watching your career, you know,
we have posters up in our gym, Modern Fujitsu Athletics,
and we have some creeds that kind of go, you know,
hand in hand with what you've been saying with your answers and stuff like that.
And I just want to share half of it.
It's seek perfection in character, be faithful, and respect others.
That's what it starts with.
And a lot of the things you said, it's like there's four things that really matter,
you know, in the big team of things.
You know, I grew up wanting to fight, but once I learned about martial arts,
once I learned about, you know, pray, train, study,
it changed my whole outlook on everything and, you know, brought me a lot more peace.
A lot of people see if it's fighters, you know, not sure, you know,
how that aggression, how we're able to control that.
And you were kind of somebody that really symbolically led that way without really,
you know, knowing you're a very humble fighter.
And that's something I was able to pick up.
But one thing I did kind of have a curious question is,
when did you know it was time to kind of, you know, walk away and hang it up?
What gave you that fulfillment?
Because I know as a fighter myself, it's always like, you know,
I want to go back in there.
I want to get back in the ring.
But it's like, when do I know it's my time?
And, you know, somebody like you that's been able to get there,
hit that Hall of Fame level, what would your answer be for somebody like me
in that position or anybody else kind of wondering when to get to that next stage?
So, you need to believe in yourself.
And sometimes you need to stop, just stay alone and take time to realize you make everything
you do inside your sport or inside your job.
And that helps you to realize you ready to continue or you ready for done, you know?
And this doesn't matter how to happen, you're the war.
You stop professional, but you never stop because you never know.
And that's what I learned.
That's what I use in my personal life.
I continue training because I never know.
I'm a warrior and I'm challenged myself.
You know, I never know when I have a challenge to myself.
But one day I just say, you know what?
I go stop fight MMA because my body don't support anymore the training, you know?
I have an injury in my leg.
I have an injury in my back.
I have an injury in my knees, you know?
And you talk by yourself and say, you know, it's time to stop.
That's how I stop fight MMA.
Yeah, definitely I can agree with that.
There is that little voice sometimes.
It's like, you know, you put yourself through a lot.
You've had a lot of success.
But I really appreciate that giving me a little bit more insight.
And congratulations for an amazing career.
And thanks for everything you've done for the sport and the people in general, man.
It really means a lot to us.
It's so strange to me to have to call people by their stage names, especially when they're
So, Anderson, I have a real question for you here.
How did you meet Frenchie?
Bro, like, I don't even remember.
Yeah, well, we're going to have to remember this story because I need to know how he met
It's his manager at the time.
I mean, his manager, current manager at the lease, who made that connection.
And, you know, as people know, I'm part of Mike Tyson's management team.
And then I think we were trying to do, like, you know, conduct some business.
And I remember, like, Mike's brother-in-law took me to that meeting.
And then we definitely clicked.
And then she took me to see Anderson, I think, the very next day or a couple of days later.
And, man, that was just like, you know, I went first to his...
You were in Torrance, right?
I just tried to open the new one there and there, you know, open for the public because
the space you come to visit in the time is only for me and my friends and my family.
Oh, definitely, definitely.
So, yeah, at that time I was contemplating, like, you know, opening Mike Tyson's gym, Mike
And then we were talking about potentially do the same overseas for Anderson.
And, yeah, I went to, you know, visit Anderson.
And we just built a friendship and a brotherhood, man.
He's just like so humble, so lovely.
He's a gentleman and how you can hate on Anderson.
But, like, you know, if he wasn't a fighter, you can't even, you know, believe that he beat
people, like, you know, for a living.
No, and then, like, you know...
I met his sons and, you know, Khalil at the time and all that.
No, we just, you know, became, you know, brothers.
And he knows that wherever I'm at, he has a brother.
And then every time, you know, Thales hit me for something for him, I'm definitely, you
And every time I ask them to do something for me, they also, like, you know, are so quick
So we definitely help each other because it's very important, especially in this industry,
there's not a lot of real people, you know.
So when you find real people, it's very important to stay close to them because there's not a lot
of real people in the industry, you know.
So, you know, definitely, yeah.
But, you know, brother, you know, you're my brother.
Anytime, you know, you need us, everybody here for you, you know.
My family, Thales, you know.
You know you have a family here, bro.
Of course, of course, you know.
And it's definitely, like, you know, the same here.
So, I mean, we're going to see each other soon, man.
Since COVID, we haven't seen each other for too long.
Like, you know, I've been, like, this COVID thing, like, made me think I wasn't, like,
locked up for, I don't know.
And Australia was, like, really, really, really strict.
So three years with no, like, you know.
Yeah, it's crazy, you know.
The world has come crazy, you know.
But it's funny because it's not funny, but it's strange, you know.
That situation, the COVID happened, a lot of people died.
And you continue, everybody continues to see the leaders in the world doing something stupid, you know.
It doesn't make sense for me.
This thing is a whole, you know, the topic.
Like, this COVID thing, I don't know.
I mean, I really don't know.
And all I know is that that was crazy.
All around the world, that was crazy.
Now, let's save this account, Frenchy.
I'm just happy to be outside.
Let's keep this account, Frenchy.
Like, you know, when you start talking about COVID and all this stuff, like, you know,
the people start, like, blocking me and stuff.
But, nonetheless, man, I love you, man.
I love, like, you know, your surrounding, the people that surround you.
So, I really appreciate you guys for making that happen.
I know that's probably your first Twitter space.
So, I'm really, really happy, like, you know, happy that you did that with us.
Thank you for inviting me, you know.
All right, MJ, take us out.
She said, a phone just died.
So, should I take us out?
What do I have to say or something?
After all that talk, she's going to have a phone.
But, I guess I'm going to have to take us out.
Well, I'm going to do that, like, you know, in music real quick.
And I think I'm going to play this one.
No, thank you, my brother.
Yeah, I will let her know.
And then, it was another great, great episode of, like, you know, Culture Talk.
Well, you guys are the best.
Thank you, Anderson, again.
Wednesday, we have, like, the jam session.
We're going to announce, like, the top 100 at midnight.
The top 100 have basically been selected for the tape.
Then on Friday, we have 7 a.m., please forgive me.
We have what we have on Sunday.
I'm still here with you, but I don't know anything.
Yeah, you don't know shit.
Well, we have a bloggen on Friday.
And next Sunday, we have another guest of Culture Talk.
It's time for me to go to sleep.
