Problem description: Children living in Enugu south and Nkanu east Local government areas of Enugu state, Nigeria are among those most at risk of the impacts of climate change, threatening their health, education and protection. In Enugu State, children in public schools in both rural and urban areas are highly exposed to flooding and air pollution as a result of the location of many of the schools. Solution description: To make a significant difference in our ability to safeguard the futures of these children from the impacts of climate change, we are embarking on Project 10000 trees for 10000 children where we intend to plant trees in 96 public schools to reduce the effects of air pollution, flooding, reduce the incidences of flooding, and provide shade/playgrounds and moisture conservation to prevent climate disasters for children. Beneficiaries will be involved in Climate education awareness activities including tree planting, environmental sanitation and waste management in schools. To Develop school-based tree planting and sustainability plan that will involve 10000 children in various communities in Enugu South and Nkanu east local government area of Enugu State, Nigeria in tree planting. Planting trees with children will help to provide a space that will inspire a love of nature, teaches about the role of trees in mitigating climate change, a demonstrate what can be achieved when we take action together.
