There are hundreds of millions of dollars being left on the table. Until now, large privately owned centralised finance companies & banks are the only organisations that have lending facilities tailored for lending against government issued tax credits in the film industry.
Reel Finance aims to change this.
Before we get off on the wrong foot, Reel isn't aiming to fund films. This is far too high risk & not something we want to expose ourselves or our investors to, at least not yet anyway.
What we aim to do is to offer collateralised lending to producers & production companies who have already secured grants or funding in the form of a government issued tax credit or national film institute grant which is being held in escrow.
These production companies need liquidity (cash flow) the current solution as mentioned above is cumbersome & expensive, we are seeing these banks & companies charge upwards of 20% in fees & interest on a 9 month loan of $1m.
By leveraging the power of the crown in the crypto industry Reel Finance aims to create an application that will allow users to lock up their stablecoin be it USDC, USK or USDT & invest as part of a syndicate against this same collateral. The result is an ultra low risk investment product which provides high returns to the investors.
As we scale we and have multiple loans out to projects we are considering offering ETF type product that would allow investors to lock up a fixed amount in return for a fixed percentage APY calculated dynamically across all active loans. Our modest estimation based on fee's & interest is that we can provide investors a steady 15% to 18% return on their investment annually.
In order for Reel Finance to work we need customers who require loans & the good news is that we have them in abundance. Reel Finance co-founder Krystian Kozlowski is a film producer with over 20 years experience in the industry. With this experience Krystian brings with him hundreds of connections in the industry many of whom have already expressed advanced interest in utilising Reel Finance for liquidity on current and future projects.
Reel Finance isn't re inventing anything, collateralised loans against grants and tax credits in the film industry are already being granted to the tune of $2 Billion in 2022 in the UK alone. What Reel aims to do is to take a slice of that and share it among retail investors who would normally never have the chance to invest in such endeavours.
Our goal as we scale in 2024/5 is to completely automate both the application and investment process using a combination of Artificial Intelligence & a DAO to assess project applications & approving them for our investment vaults. These integrations would allow the application to operate in a 100% decentralised manner as we feel it should be.
This week Reel Finance has been acknowledged and granted a credit as "Executive Producers" on the as yet unreleased film "The Partisan" for our contribution both consultative & financial.
Our goal is for the next film we are involved in to be featured on & invested in via Reel Finance, the blockchain based application.
