Testing testing one two can you hear me? Okay?
Welcome, welcome everybody. Good to see you, Skuni. Kryptonia will get you up here as a co-host here in a moment. Thanks for joining us for No Artsy Friday. I hope you can hear me okay. I am sitting in a fairly loud hotel lobby. Welcome up to the stage, Kryptonio. Can you hear me okay?
Beautiful. Well, we're going to let people trickle in here and we're going to get things started.
I'm absolutely out of my element here for the first space away from Yotu Labs,
down here in Miami at the Gates Hotel, sitting in the lobby,
as the Temple crew and Paper Buddha set up for their event later this evening.
It's been an incredible time.
I've met a lot of amazing people, a lot of Tezos presence here,
and I'm going to do my best to keep documenting it.
But today and right now, we're about to fire up another Artsy Friday.
We're just waiting on Visceral Glitch to get here as our guest today.
And until then, we can jam out some music.
I actually made a song recently utilizing AI.
And then I remixed it and wrote some lyrics and sang about this journey
So this song is actually dedicated to Art Basel of Miami and Miami week
I hope you guys enjoy as you listen to this song
Please repeat the space let more people know that we are here about the chat with this little bridge I'm I need to grow the network. What but all supleasure, to build our futures better.
I need to grow the network, the adventure to the treasure.
The needles down and then lay this loud while thoughts ignite.
Talking dreams and landing moves while we cross state lines
Mapping opportunities for hopes remaining light
Very mile, little closer to that vibrant city light
For work but also pleasure, to build our future better
I need to grow the network, the adventure But also pleasure to build our future's better.
I need to grow the network, the adventure to the treasure.
For work but also pleasure to build our future's better.
I need to grow the network, the adventure to the treasure.
and I scrolled where the culture's green line Feeling high, moving forward
My pain on its left is a rhythm in my chest
Though it's something bigger than it's in and every step
I see the death of holiness and world to next
A journey made with people who believe in what's wrong with that.
The world's but also pleasure. To build our futures better.
I need to grow the network.
To venture to the treasure.
The roadblood also pleasure, to build our futures better.
I need to grow the network, the adventure to the treasure.
The adventure to the treasure Make sure to retweet the space, let everybody know that we're here about the chat with the Visceral Gliss.
That song you were just listening to is an original that I created specifically for this trip down in Miami.
And again, I am currently sitting in a lobby as the crew gets an event ready upstairs.
So thank you so much for having us up here again.
We can't do it without you guys showing up.
I really appreciate it. Thank you for being here, Spoonie, United Saints, Fendel, MB, Tazos Event Calendar, Massive D, and whoever
else can make in here, make sure to share space. How are you today, The Visceral Glitch?
I'm really good. I'm in New York, and it is cloudy and cold here, and you guys are all in Miami,
and I hope you're having an awesome time i've seen some
of the photos and stuff that looks great i'm so happy for everybody and everyone's just like
shining and i'd love to see that so uh yeah big love big love to everyone down there at the moment
appreciate you throwing roses and we will throw you some warmth if we can oh that would be nice
it got really cold here it's actually so warm so warm that I sweat the second I walk outside.
Oh, yeah. It's hotter in New York.
Yeah, you're sweating before you walk out.
Oh, goodness. So you got that and rain.
I know that you just are you about to go or did you just come back from that Mexico City?
I am going next week and that's why I'm not in Miami because I couldn't do both.
And they're like less than a week apart. So, yeah, I'm part of the Wait and Help Foundation, this Mexican Mexico City residency,
where for the past two months we've been like studying like
uh indigenous culture and history and art and all kinds of stuff from Mexico
and uh I made a piece of artwork for it and then we're going down there to present it all
um next week so yeah I'm leaving on Thursday so this week next time I'll be in Mexico City so
I'm really excited about that um but I'm missing everyone this week as well. So it's a lot of ands.
But yeah, that's going to be really exciting.
Emphus Trash is going to be there too.
excited that I get to see her.
in the show. And yeah, last time I was in Mexico
City, I saw her as well. So that was really nice. So I'm looking forward to seeing her. It's been a
while. And she's also got a really cool piece on curation here and up on the wall as well.
Did you get a chance to see that one Love Dahl curation? I did. I saw the clips from last night.
And I saw what she put up, and it looked great.
Yeah, it's kind of exciting that we've both got pieces across these two shows,
with The Temple and then with Wait and Hope.
So, yeah, it's really exciting.
I haven't actually caught on. Do you have any pieces being showcased on this event tonight as well? Yeah, yeah, yeah's really exciting. And did you? I haven't actually caught on.
Do you have any pieces being showcased on this event tonight as well?
It's a piece called Time Marches on Miami.
And I made it last year when I was in Miami.
So like because my work is street photography.
So wherever I go, I'm collecting photographs.
all of them into glitches so like i have a whole i have a whole bunch of pieces from miami because
i've been for the past few years uh so i put one of those up into it and uh yeah i was curated into
it so that was really nice i was really excited and i'm not there but it's so lovely to like be
up with all of my friends it's like i'm not there but my art is and uh so take pictures so you are huh yeah you're you're literally here in spirit because
your art is your spirit spot speaking you know and that's really um that's just as good in a lot
of ways especially because you also get to be there you get to be two places at once yeah it's
exciting so um and i'm so you know and I love to see everyone shining at the moment. And
whenever, you know, these kind of get togethers happen, it's like everyone's got their moments.
And I'm just, yeah, the event tonight looks incredible. And last night looked great. And
yeah, I love to see it. Like everyone, everyone's doing well, everyone's winning. And I feel like
that's, that's healthy. You know, I feel like that's that's healthy you know I feel
like we used to have a lot of society where it's like uh it's only I can win in I have to win if
you lose and and that just doesn't work anymore it just doesn't it never really worked but now
it doesn't work with these spaces and so what I love about them, it's like I'm winning. And so we're all of my friends and we're all doing this together.
And that gives us strength and power.
That's to me why I love the space.
And honestly, like why I love the temple, because it's about that.
It's about coming together and growing together.
That's a good segue, because I would love for you to, of all introduce yourself before we got do you get dive too deep into the weeds because obviously there's spaces
for you i want you to be able to promote your work your story your process your inspirations
whatever you want to say so just to emphasize that but also of course i would love your perspective
on what the temple is because i'm throwing myself in with them for a week and it's
been quite an experience they're amazing people they are they are um well what do you want to
start with first do you want me to do you want to start with myself or uh let's start with you and
then lead into how you found the temple and experienced it okay so um my name is the visceral
glitch and I am an augmented reality glitch artist.
About eight years ago, and before that, I was a music journalist and a motion designer art director in New York.
I worked for, like, big companies and broadcasters like Rolling Stone, JPMorgan, Chase Complex, things like that.
change complex things like that uh eight years ago um i was kind of slow with work and was kind
of feeling a bit low and i decided to take a school of motion course to kind of like up my skills
and part of that was to uh do a daily practice and i hadn't really done a daily practice i was very shy about anything art related
i was very much shied away from it um and but i decided to do it and actually people that's how
i discovered people that way uh and i kind of was really liked what he was doing it was like
daily artwork i sort of got the idea of making dailies and i wasn't sure what i was going to do
at that point i was really into infographics.
I love infographics, visualizing information, but you can't really do those as dailies. They
take a lot more work. So I was kind of looking through Instagram and a friend of mine had posted
something with a glitch in it. And I had done some glitch work when I was at Complex, but in
After Effects, and I knew that she didn't know how to use After Effects and I asked her what she used
and she told me it was a program it was an app called Glitch and so I downloaded the app and I
made my first piece and I posted it I was like oh that was kind of fun and then I did another one
and another one and another one and then I was like, there was a point I was doing like six or seven a day.
And I like through this huge following. And I just kind of like happened. And I was going for a run
one day, like, like three or four months into this project. And I live by a power station and a cemetery.
They're on the same block.
And I was running past the power station, and the visceral glitch slammed in my head.
And I didn't know what that was.
I liked the name of it, but I didn't really understand it.
And I was like, oh, I kind of like.
