How are you doing these days during the summer?
I'm good, man.
It's been really fun getting Ishida no Kaze out in the world
and working through the second mint
and all the stuff that's been going on,
but just enjoying interacting with the community, enjoying building a new community,
and enjoying exploring some new art and new ways to do things.
And I absolutely love the experience. So can't wait to learn more what's behind. But before we
get into it, man, I wanted to ask you about of course
about other side because you have that famous 288 plot we we've talked about it through the years
what you want to build there uh do you have odk uh have you built anything there already or
what what is the current status i would love to know um i do have odk. I have not been working on it too much yet.
I'm sort of not doing first move on that.
I want to see how some other people execute,
but I'm excited for getting closer
to when we can actually have people come to our plots
and engage in a new way.
Yeah, I think it's going to be so much fun,
especially with people that I know, right?
And that we've talked about what they want to build there
and it will be amazing.

let's get into what you cooking man because i probably never minted nft like that you know um
i went to to telegram i i talked to ai probably and suddenly i saw some incredible animation that
i was able to mint so the whole experience was kind of interactive and cool.
Could you tell us a little bit more like a backstory of how did you come up with this idea
and what the whole, I tried to pronounce it correctly, Ashita no Kaze is about?
Sure.
But you should sound angry, right?
When you speak Japanese japanese it should be like
or not i don't know man yes it has a very like strong guttural tone there's there's some
underlying anger in there it seems like sometimes but um so i guess you know we'll go way back
i've been thinking about ways to integrate skateboarding and web3 you know, we'll go way back. I've been thinking about ways to integrate skateboarding and Web3,
you know, really since I found the space in 21 and just, you know, bouncing around different ideas.
And it finally sort of came together for me in this project that I wanted to create. And
the other thing that I really wanted to do was take advantage of some of the tools we have, you know, with with Vibe Coding now, I'm able to get the things that have been in my head out, which I think is the most amazing part of it for anyone that hasn't really explored that yet is like, it actually enables you to do these things that you just think about.
of con you know the combination of all those things came together and i was like okay how can
i make a interactive generative art project right and deliver it in a different way and i've said
this a lot but i've i've i was a huge and am a huge fan of 10k tf and how they've done their
multi-modal storytelling and how they integrated the community into the story. I always thought that that was something special. And it made the community feel incredibly engaged. So
the next step of that is like, can we actually have the community create the art collection
and do that in a way that's fun and engaging and each piece is something that they created
as part of this bigger collection.
And so, you know, in my mind, it was going to be easy,
like, oh, okay, yeah, you chat with the bot,
we can export some art and mint it on Apechain.
You know, that's the easy side of Vibe coding.
And then the other side is the 20 services that you need to figure out how to make work together
and work in a production environment
and deal with traffic and all those things. So the first minute got totally blown out. The traffic broke the pipeline,
the bots came and started botting the contract and it was just like chaos. So had to shut that
one down at 215 pieces. And then went back to work for like the last three months on making a more robust pipeline to do this
and make it really work with traffic and in a production environment so um you know spent the
time working on that spent the time working on the contract shout out to uh to coffee and quit
and james for some oversight there so that i could figure out the right way to do this and minimize the bot this time,
which has worked well. The Mint's been open for a week now, and I don't think we've had too much
bot action. So really excited it's going there. But basically, at the end of the day, I just
wanted to figure out a new way to create NFTs together and build a community at the same time and that was what what prompted the
whole the whole project so maybe before we jump more in uh it would be great uh for those zero
people in the audience who have no idea what we were talking about uh what is ashita no kaze about
what's the mechanics how does it work etc just just? Just a brief intro maybe. Yeah, so basically you just go to this Telegram bot.
It's pinned in the W underscore TMR underscore account.
It's probably my account too.
I'm losing track at this point,
but you go to the bot and you hit the menu,
check out the start.
It'll give you some instructions on what to do.
And all you have to do is ask questions about this world.
And as you start engaging with the bot, it'll give you some guidance if you're not getting visual responses.
But once you start getting visual responses, you'll have a chance to mint them right there in the app.
You just click Preserve Artifact and then select Wallet and Mint.
Choose which phase and you're off to the races.
So far, the only people that have been able to mint were if you held the first collection
that gave you two guaranteed mints in the second one. If you had a 288 token, either from our first
edition vodka or the second edition whiskey, you able to mint the third phase was for people that
interacted with the bot the first time but weren't able to mint and then the fourth phase is going to
be open to anyone who hasn't minted yet and that is coming very soon guys i pinned the tweet uh from
oh and yeah tino also put the tweet so you can see the art it like i really enjoy the
process i really enjoyed it it's in japanese so you need to translate it to understand what it is
about um it reminded me 10k tf which i really love i love the storytelling i love the art i love the
vibe i think it's awesome so i enjoyed it a lot if people want to join right now betty what what
should they do uh can they join or should they wait for the next phase yeah so you can go ahead and
and uh click into the bot just um let me i'll post the link here in a second but um i'm gonna open
the fourth phase and like i said that is going to be open to anyone that has not minted yet. So one of my big goals with this, the first bot, like 64 of the 215 tokens gotters who then went ahead and really capitalized on the
financial side. It's just straight extraction. And it's so frustrating, I think, as an artist,
as someone in the space, when you watch people put all this hard work into a project, and then
we're at a phase where people are like, oh, you can't sell, you can't sell NFTs for X amount on Ape Chain at this point, people aren't engaging, but then they're willing to buy them secondary from people that essentially stole them for, you know, you know, many multiples of that.
And it's just like that, that doesn't do any good for the space.
And I think I'm at the point where I'm just tired of that happening.
So I wanted to figure out a better way to do it.
And I'm really excited
because our distribution's over 50% at this point.
And I think for longevity and for community building
and for these collections,
the best thing you can do
is have a good distribution of people
that actually care about owning the tokens
as opposed to just flipping them. Not to say that we don't need flippers and that that's not a part of it.
Like I'm fully into the DJing games too, but for the art projects, I think that the value is like
getting them to people that care about them. And, you know, that's a little bit contrary to what
drives collections to the top of leaderboards and all those things.
But I actually think it's the best thing long term
when you see what happens with things like XCopy or Rec guys
or some of these projects that were collected by people that cared
that grew into something meaningful in the space.

Do you have any tips for people that want to start creating their own art, how to approach that?
Yeah, I think, you know, if you ask a question and you don't get a response, it will give you some prompts on things that you can't ask.
And that will take you down some rabbit holes i think um one thing that i'll say is that people haven't really explored
the waterfront or the warehouses too much and that might be a good idea for some stuff we got coming
up um the other thing that i would say is that um right now and i'm working on getting the fourth phase open here in a minute.

And just watching the art come through, I think, is another fun way.
So if you look at the collection,
it's at A&K underscore T2 on OpenSea or on
Magic Eden. And as you watch those pieces come through, there's just been some amazing, amazing
art. And if you look at the description of those collections in Japanese, that might give you some
pointers too on how to come up with something that you might like.

Like the AI is a game changer. Like it's absolutely crazy what you can do. And in 2021, it was impossible.
And now I see also animations of different PFPs
coming through AI.
And can you imagine next year or 2027,
it's going to be insane.
And that's why I believe that blockchain
makes so much sense for us, right?
And I think, and I still believe that
buying NFTs is like collecting a history.
For me, it's still like buying those Jordan 14th when, you know, it's like when he made the last
shot against Utah and, you know, there's a lot of talks about it and he became the GOAT,
the greatest of all time, you know, not LeBron, not anyone, MJ, right? So yeah, I just wanted to say
that I believe in that and I think it's great to support people in this community. And this project
is really fun, man. I had a great time. I love the art. So what's after the phase four, actually?
Like people will be able to mint. Do you have any like future plans that you would
like to share with us today? Yeah. And actually I wanted to give a little more info just for,
for people that haven't been, you know, engaging the, what happens in the, in the bot when you go
to mint is it actually creates a privy wallet for you. So there's a Privy embedded wallet created and you'll need to transfer 11.01 APE, basically a little bit for gas in there. Once the wallet is created,
you can find that wallet under the menu under account button. And that'll give you the info
that you need to transfer some APE over there. But next phases for this,
I wanted to get this collection to 1,234 pieces
because there's some things that I have planned
coming down the line that I won't talk exactly about today.
But I just will say that this second Mint
isn't the end of what I'm doing with ANK,
definitely not the end of what I'm doing with ANK, definitely not the end of what I'm doing with Telegram,
and exploring new ways to Mint that especially help prevent
botting and give people a fair chance to Mint projects
that they care about.
I think Preview and Glyph and these kind of easy
like wallets that are easy to set up. That's 100% the future,
how to onboard new people into Web3.
And I really
enjoy using it. So love it.
Love it. It was so simple.
I don't even know how I set it up. I just click
one button and I had it. I transferred
the ApeCoin and that
was it. So yeah, really
enjoyed it. And I think,
I don't know if you see that guys too but you know
snoop dogg selling 12 million dollars worth of nfts or or stickers or gifts or what was that on
telegram i kind of feel that you know selling like cheaper nfts to to more people outside of web3
might be a way and you need glyph or you you need Preview. You need the solutions to set up wallets for masses, right?
And I think that's going to happen.
And that's also a big opportunity for ApeCoin and ApeChain, right?
To bring people in, especially with the other side.
So it's very interesting, right?
I can imagine like onboarding my friends because, okay,
I don't know how they can buy what's the easiest way to
actually buy ApeCoin like if there's some in-app like credit card purchase option but I can be
like hey send me the address and I'll send you the ApeCoin and it's so easy for them to set up
compared to like hey write down the seed phrase which you will probably lose and then you'll use
your funds too so yeah love it. Dino
how was your process when you created the wallet and and minted your NFT? Yeah it was great it was
always these kind of things are a bit not scary but like kind of I'm kind of concerned and
and just thinking a little bit sometimes just deing, but I do not understand the technical side of it.
So maybe it would be also good for people like me
to explain that data, how does it actually work?
Because Telegram runs or has its own blockchain tone.
We talked about it on the show previously,
a few episodes ago, and these are on AVE chain.
So maybe how does this work, this entire process?
Because for me, this is very exciting.
And I think this kind of cross-chain thing
is just amazing to know that exists already
and we are part of it.
Yeah, no, it's super exciting, I think,
to be able to do some of the things we can do now.
And basically, Telegram runs, there's an API, an open API that you can use to work on Telegram.
So you can build all types of apps on top of it.
But there's also a native Privy integration.
So that what's happening is there's a seamless, like once you're signed into your Telegram,
essentially, when you click a button, that signs you into Privy and that creates an embedded wallet for you.
So it's all happening in the background.
One of the big goals that I had was like, I want to make this so easy that my mom can do it.
And so that was fun to explore.
And it actually, it's a little disconcerting, I think, if you've been in Web3 because you're being so careful.
You're so used to, you know, making sure that you're not going to get drained or click a weird link.
But because you're authenticated through Telegram, that essentially handles the rest of the authentication process and creates your privy wallet for you.
So, you know, it's taking advantage of those things.
And, you know, to Grateful's point earlier, we have so many of the tools that we were hoping would exist for the last couple of years are here now, whether it's Privy and Glyph and just some of these easier abstractions that allow us to interact with the blockchain in ways that we couldn't before.

then Privy also can, you can send transactions to the blockchain through that Privy wallet.
So it's all kind of, you know, again, like how can you make this as simple as possible

but I'm certainly exploring ways
to integrate their native blockchain
because I think that, you know,
we kind of saw what happened with the BAYC sticker drop
and some of these other drops.
They get botted to death and that just doesn't,
it doesn't feel good, right?
Like it feels very extractive
and I know that that's part of the game,
but like if you're here and you care
about it and you're part of a community and you just get botted out like that sucks so um a lot
of the the work that i did was figuring out better ways to do that whether it's token gating
across chains whether it's you know figuring out some other ways to prevent botting um and just
making sure that that the process works for the people that are actually
there because they care about the project and not there just to extract crypto from it.

to explore how can we make this easy for people to use

But for someone who's not doing this on a daily basis, it's still pretty complicated.
So I'm excited to, you know, I think the next phase of that will be integrating how to purchase the ApeCoin or whatever crypto you're looking at directly in the app.
And I know you can do that with Glyph.
I didn't have time to integrate Glyph. It came out well past when I was working on this. But I think that
between MoonPay and what's the other one? I don't know. There's a few other apps where you can buy
under $500 worth of crypto now in the US very easily. So I think that that'll continue to get easier as we move forward and just make it like a normal part
of how you work, how you do things on your phone.
And you just won't have to think about it too much,
which is going to be great.

but we're actually not touching even even like 0.5 or 1% of CT mindshare that we should be. And that's because
the algorithm is feeding us what we want to see. The way to beat this is the same way that
Polymarket became super popular. So popular now that they're integrating with X. They tweet like
they're a news platform. And by doing doing this they're able to break the algorithm
because people searching for keywords like you know whatever it may be trump israel uh bitcoin
stocks things like this that's showing up on people's feet now what we want to do is have
those keywords show up in association with our markets with you know the word ape chain in there
with the clutch website on ape chain that's, with the Clutch website on ApeChain.
That's going to onboard users,
and that can actually have a massive effect.
What we need to do is break the algorithm.
People think that's like the best way to do that
is obviously have one NFT collection
or one coin go really crazy.
These are short-term things.
Long-term, we have to have a super efficient strategy
that's going to give us a steady inflow of new users.

And what I tell them is that these are people
who have been on ape chain so long,
they've accumulated so much that they just have
a lot of points and they're potentially founders.

and I'm echoing this with whoever I talk to, is that I think if people grind out the two weeks and do all the daily quests and even just have some exposure to Ape Chain NFTs, that they'll be able to grind it away somewhere into the top 100.
And at that point, you have a 1 in 100 chance for a 35K NFT that's potentially life-changing long term.
So that's what i'm mostly telling
folks the questions are mostly related to some of that i think we on ape chain understand spotlight
pretty well i don't think people on the outside really know what's up people don't understand the
sweeping model that it's not that they don't understand how it works it's just they've never
heard of something like that before and i think we need to be a little louder on the prizes that are going to be won and the model, how it works.
Essentially that, hey, this chain is coming through and injecting liquidity by sweeping collections because it's a big deal.
No other chain does this.

the timeline they look at the leaderboard and it's like well shit i got whatever i've got 10 nfts on
ape chain i don't know if i can grind all the way up there i guess if you get to 100 you still have
one in 100 shop but like is there any concern that's like repetitive action of the same people?
Yeah. I mean, concern, I don't know if that's the word for it,
but that is something we are aware of,
or that's something we are looking into, right?
We're going to keep in mind, we have the stats from the previous season.
We'll have the stats from this one. And just making sure, you know,
we have a firm understanding of, you know,
why people are either not being able to climb up the leaderboard or, you know, why X, Y, Zs are, you know, towards the top every time.
So definitely something that, you know, we are keeping top of mind, something that we're monitoring and, you know, through ideally through different types of spotlights that will allow different types of people or different participants to climb up the
leaderboards right like right now frosty is i think towards the top uh i don't know he was like middle
of the package last season so you know definitely something that we keep in mind i don't have the
direct answer for you now but uh you know for sure that that is something that is top of mind for us
i'm simply asking the question because i just know it'll be on the timeline it'll be in maybe not even on the timeline but you'll see it in group dms where
people just aren't even you know they're not even like trying necessarily spotlight um just because
they feel like there's no chance and i'm not saying they're right by the way it's just that's
the i mean for christ's sakes look at look at uh ape fest tickets um you know it's like there's
always going to be a complaint about something you know, unless you guarantee that everyone gets a board ape
to all the people that participate in Spotlight,
somebody will complain about something.

and know it is a possibility, right?
So just trying to either tinker one multipliers tinker just overall
mechanics or tinker the overall season to allow you know different participants to be able to
climb up those leaderboards it's definitely something we are looking towards yeah yeah and
if you don't mind me saying spend like obviously i don't i don't speak for the team i'm not a member
of the team but this is an open discussion we get a team member on this stage so i think it's good and i think that's a really
awesome question especially for the long-term future of of ape chain and the spotlight program
because i think it's such a unique program it's one that it's great the longer it sticks around
the better i think easy tweaks to the mechanics man can can easily solve these problems right now
that's mostly based on the multipliers because Because right now, pretty much what you're hitting the multipliers with
and what you're hitting the sweeps with
and what the app Spotlight is featuring,
those are the big three things that are getting incentivized here.
If you remove the multipliers, you still have the sweeps and the app,
but then you just have a more merit-based model.
So it's less about what you hold and more about what you do.
And I think that'd be pretty fair. I think people could get and i'm not speaking for the team obviously i don't know what they're gonna do i don't have any inside info on this
i'm just saying i think that kind of model is a no-brainer kind of and then when we got like when
we get folks coming through we can tell them hey you can really win first place if you're a really
hard worker you got some creative ideas for, I really love one of my favorite quests is the one where somebody has to be creative and come up with their own predictions market that they're going to seed.
Like that, that is community involvement.
That's where somebody's maybe going on a walk, sitting, meditating for 30 minutes and coming up with a great idea that's benefiting all of Ape Chain.
I mean, this kind of merit-based stuff is a no-brainer, in my opinion.
