That's DGEN, D-G-E-N.network.
Welcome to the future.
GM Cap, how's it going?
It's going good.
Can't believe it is December 22nd.
I don't know where the year has went.
And yeah, excited for the show, excited for the day.
And yeah, going to be a big show today, a big weekend ahead of us
and finish out this year with a bang.
But I am excited to hear your thoughts on
the trial of jimmy the monkey yeah i think there's a lot going on uh all the room warms up and
everybody comes in um i will say uh i am still a boomer we talked about twitter update yesterday
and some different things that elon's doing we had some good debate over whether it was good or bad for Twitter,
whether we were feeling good about Elon or not.
One recent update.
So I'm not complaining about the update, but one recent update.
I definitely just pulled a boomer move last night.
So we pull clips from the show.
By the way, GM, if there's Daily Dosers here, hit us with the GM down there.
Let us know you're here.
We'll look at those comments here in just a little bit.
As Daily Dosers know, as well as people from coffee with captain know uh our friend mackie cuts clips for actually both of our shows and mackie had cut me a clip
uh where we were talking about doodles and and i've been pretty pretty forthright about the fact
that i really like doodles scaling business model plan i really like the fact that they are working
towards millions not thousands i like the fact they're not going to dilute their own IP. I like
the fact that they're thinking through things and how they're going to reach lots of people,
have a real business model. And I love how they appeal both to children, adults, grandparents.
We've got people tell stories. The grandparents like the doodles. My children like the doodles.
So we had this exchange, Susan and I, Susan, who's a regular on this show,
about, you know, doodles and, you know,
how we feel about doodles
and like the fact that we think
that they have a good scaling model
and this is something we should be asking business plan wise.
And I posted the video, this wonderful video, Mackie cut.
I go to edit it and then I go to bed
because I realized I forgot to say clip by Mackie.
So I always want to give Mackie credit
in the clips that he cuts because I want him to get more business and more jobs and help him get
more work. And he's doing, you know, he's cutting these clips for us. They're awesome. I go to bed,
I wake up and I have all these comments. I ended up pulling down the tweet, but I have all these
comments about like, is this a prank or whatever? I don't know how this happened. When I edited it,
Twitter made it a still image. So I went to bed and woke up basically to being a total boomer
with everybody talking about like, so you posted a picture, you thought it was a video. Do you know
the difference boomer? So, um, I don't know. I, as I continue to age into this technology, it was,
uh, it was a tough look to wake up to. And a couple of people were joking around. They're
like, Oh, it was probably a prank or something. And then someone was like, I was joking when I
said it was a boomer move, but here we are. So.i.p me here i am uh waking up this morning to comments about my uh my my
missed transgressions so anyway cap how are you how was your morning probably better than mine
i think so now you made me think if i should go check like my timeline see if there's any tweets
that slid out or anything i'm not uh i think i survived the evening though unscathed i did see this morning i woke up breaking news the first well
two things the first drive-through chipotle is opening up in in in the tamp area or has opened
up not drive through like you you you go go through the line like you normally do more like
i mean you're in ohio we have drive-through
like liquor liquor stores like you can just drive your car through like a garage and pick up so this
is like the new chipotle that's just opened up i also saw coincidentally then cap you're just
making us americans look so bad can you just stop right now but this is hard it gets worse every
time every time he opens a new sentence he's like like, yeah. Also, have you seen these new KFC bowls that basically
pile the most unhealthy stuff into one bowl?
Those are good.
Guess what we do here in America that's even worse
than you thought.
We don't even need people to
serve this fast food.
The McDonald's, I saw in Zeneca's tweet just a bit ago,
was the first fully automated,
fully robotic McDonald's just opened up in texas so yeah we will uh you could you can come ingest your 3 000 calorie meal
without even talking nursing no she's kababio all right let's move on good morning everybody
good morning steve good morning captain how you doing gm right what is your what is your i'm
curious what your diet's like actually because you seem like a pretty healthy person you meditate you get you know you get you go to the
chiropractor we should probably we should probably share for the new daily doses here part of our
show steve has a typically three or four times a week a pretty hot breakfast take
i know i and also we're probably gonna um talk about some sort of meaningless stat about a sport
sometime on the show. I'm preparing myself for that. We're also going to talk maybe about cold
showers. And it's going to be amazing, y'all. Just get ready. So I love the random chit chat.
I love the random chit chat.
So my diet, I used to eat terribly, like cereal plus orange juice,
then sandwiches for lunch, and then pasta for dinner.
And then I realized, I guess your body's not designed for that.
So I switched.
And generally kind of have as much healthy stuff as I can.
But I love candy, as all the daily dosers know.
So actually, I live on candy.
And it's great.
Somehow I'm still alive.
Candy and eggnog.
I love it.
Is it bad that you just, when you said you ate terribly, you ate like, you described
my typical day on like a random Tuesday of what I eat.
So I feel pretty pretty called out here. You're young and fresh and you can kind of do whatever you want with your body.
You know, you get to be 45. You can't do that. Sorry. You'll see.
That's what I'm worried about is I'm as I've gotten older, I always thought I'm like, oh, it doesn't really catch up with you.
And now I'm 39. And I think the past two to three three years i've seen it really start to catch up with me and i'm like
oh man i need to like i'm starting to pay for it so it's uh no it's uh good for you clemente you
eat to perform and uh gm everybody again by the way um we're excited to do this crossover show
with with ryan and clemente uh we're big fans of daily dose we pop in when we can we always
promote daily dose on our show and tell people to head right
there after we close out.
See a lot of folks in the crowds and familiar faces.
Chris Hoddle, Teacher Katie, hurt me.
V Squared,
Dunked Cookie, always good to see
you out there as well.
Lulu DeFi, the Daily Dose Philippines
picture in the comments.
Appreciate you stopping by all the
way from the Philippines.
And Jack showing that he's starting with a Mickey beignet,
which looks both delicious and like my tummy would hurt for the rest of the
So I appreciate everybody jumping in this morning for the,
for the daily dose crossover.
the goats,
the goats with a fantastic,
fantastic tweet with all of us hanging out in the Zoolander car, which I'll pin to the top here in a second.
But, Cap, I suppose we can dive right into it and we'll kick kind of around the panel with, you know, Clemente and Ryan giving their takes on things.
And we'll keep an eye on some hands.
I see Vicky is requesting, who is probably the biggest celebrity in the room today, because yesterday the Board of Yacht Club dropped the trailer for the trial of Jimmy the Monkey. For those who haven't been following the trial of
Jimmy the Monkey, effectively what they did was they've been teasing it out for a while. It's been
on a roadmap for over a year and on Thanksgiving, the day before Thanksgiving I believe it was,
they announced that on Christmas something's going to be happening. That something is what I think happened these past couple of days,
which was they dropped the trailer along with a timeline leading into January
and through the rest of the year for this sort of ongoing lure
that they're building in the Bored Ape Yacht Club community.
Amongst that, they said there's going to be a variety of tiers
for people who are going to get a claim of some sort.
So there is going to be an NFT associated with this. The tiers would go if you have a mutant and a dog, or if you have an
ape and a dog at the top, a mutant and a dog would be the next level of the tier. Then it would just
be a dog. And then I believe a mutant or something along those lines. I think eight might be higher
in there. But the point being, the claim is going to be based on what sort of nfts
you hold in the ecosystem we don't know what that means exactly yet uh the big news is the trailer
dropped yesterday vicky was starring in it who's on stage right now which was a nice surprise i
think i saw vicky and tropa were the ones i recognized in there and um cap i saw it i'm
gonna go pin the ghost tweet to the top and hand it over to you.
And then I'd love to get Ryan and Clemente's opinion if they had a chance to see the trailer
or on anything trial that Jimmy Monkey related.
But Cap, what were your initial thoughts?
Because I have thoughts.
Yeah, I'm excited primarily about
what you've already led off with,
that several known noticeable apes from the community,
Vicky, one of which here on the stage,
was easily identifiable. I think this is the, you know, we talk about content companies and
the future of media, and we spent a lot of time this week talking about spaces,
these brands that are content companies, and especially these Web3 brands that are incorporating
their community and their community's IP. I think this is, that's more so than the actual storyline itself.
I'm most excited about seeing that.
And it was a, even though like I've been very excited and bullish about the possibilities
of IP and leveraging IP and the network effects in this space. This was kind of
an aha moment for me, seeing more clearly what that may look like in a future with brands like
Yuga as they continue to scale and work their way into different mainstream media beyond just the
project itself. I'll go to Kamlente here for a second, get his take,
and also welcome everyone.
GM, Steve and I have a habit of just kind of jumping right into things here on Coffee.
We will reset the room and get back.
And there's a few other topics and some themes or some specific things we'll get into.
But often, if you are new here, we do typically just jump right into the news of the day
or what's on our minds, what happened in the late night hours in the space
or sometimes it's what chicken piccata
or meatloaf is Steve having for breakfast.
But we will find a way to weave it back
into a Web3 conversation sooner or later.
And on that, Clemente, GM.
GM, so we actually talked a little bit about this yesterday
on the Daily Dose, but one
of the things that I notice and that I'm curious about because you guys are both representing
the Ape ecosystem, one of the potential downsides that I'm seeing from this storyline and this
trial that's happening is that all of a sudden the Bored Ape Yacht Club has
a high execution risk, high performance risk heading into the year that it didn't have before.
And my observation from that is potentially like, is it possible for Yuga to build out this
ecosystem, build out the IP without necessarily entering into this performance risk, high
volatility points for their holders. I noticed some of the comments on Twitter were like,
hey, I love this storyline. I think this is great, but I don't know how I feel about my
six-figure asset is now automatically going to experience some volatility because of this
speculation that's going to enter inevitably with this,
the new mint and the kennel dogs and all that stuff.
So I'm curious what you guys think as ape holders on that.
That's a great question.
You know, for me personally, I would say I'm not as bothered by sort of the volatility.
To me, this is sort of what I signed up for, which is for them to execute on things.
I'm probably not as much of a,
I'm not the, I would say I'm not the savviest
or smartest investor when it comes to the dollars
and cents of how these things are going.
Don't get me wrong.
Like I think, you know,
I'm not knocking anyone who makes money.
I think making money is a good thing
on these sort of assets.
And, you know, you should sell if you need to sell
or if you, you you know ever need
liquidity there's no there's nothing wrong with that but for me personally this is actually what
i signed up for i'm actually very excited about um well i have some some some critiques on the
jimmy the monkey and how they went about it um which is totally cool it's their universe they're
building and i'm a part of it but to me me, I actually enjoy this part of it, not because of
the speculative pumps and movement. Although it does put more money in their pockets, which
actually effectively is better for me because I know that they have a history of passing
profits that they make onto their holders, which I think is the right model in Web3 when we've
seen things like 8Best and other things they've executed on in the past or prizing competitions.
like eight best and other things they've executed on in the past or,
or prizing competitions.
this is what I signed up for.
I get to participate in some sort of game.
I get to have fun with my friends.
And to be honest,
and this is probably a little corny.
I get to feel like a kid again,
to some degree,
one thing board API club has done for me is that,
they had a mobile game last year and like last December,
I want to say it was,
and it was like my son and I sat there
and grinded at a mobile game.
And as simple as it was,
it was something that was really fun
that I look forward to participating in.
And, you know, the treasure hunt,
it gets people together from all over the world
who try to solve these puzzles to make,
to uncover a prize and uncover a secret code.
And, you know, even the ones who don't end up getting
like a special sort of POAP or
whatever it is for participating.
Like to me, those are things that are fun.
And the asset volatility I'm not as worried about because at least the plan is, now look,
if I ever needed the money, if I had a bigger tax bill than I expected or my, you know,
children, you know, had a doctor's bill or I had a doctor's bill, I would sell my eight
because that's just, to me, that's the right move right to do but generally speaking because i'm planning on
holding for a long time the volatility doesn't bother me and this part is fun but cap i'll let
you answer and then let's i'd love ryan's take as well yeah no i'm similar i am here for the ip
building the creation and and take some shots built you know build some things probably break
some things along the way not everything's going to be a massive hit but but this is the fun and
exciting part i'd rather see this than than than just no action and and solely relying on the
community to to build and and and put anything out there to ship any product or any any any content
i think this is kind of the, you know,
I don't want to say the optimal or best of both worlds, but I,
as I mentioned earlier,
I'm a big fan of how they're doing it with incorporating, you know,
Vicky and others. And I think it's, it's just like, it's,
it's like my wheels are spinning. Where can they go with that?
And what will we be talking about this time next year as it relates to
Vicky's mutantant Ape?
Yeah, and before we go to Ryan,
I'll say one of the reasons I'm already really excited
about this crossover show
and why I love doing this show with TAP as well
is my immediate reaction was thinking about the content,
thinking about the direction they were going
and what it meant for the holders.
But Clemente, that's such an insightful question
about the executional risk
that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise
had you not asked it. And same cap even on the ip building wasn't
necessarily what i was thinking of so uh already like really appreciate having you all up here but
ryan i'd love to get your take on any part of this yeah um i've got a couple thoughts to share
at first uh i i just want to say hi to all the daily doses that i see you in the comments um and it's
hilarious a lot of you are like holy biscuits this is early uh daily dose is early enough
so it's fun um you all showing up i appreciate it also it looks like shoplifter raises chickens
which i've always wanted to raise chickens um like it seems like you know steady supply of eggs would
be great but i know chickens aren't very nice to each other, I've noticed.
So there's a lot of pecking each other and things.
That's not great.
So I just want to point that out.
Also, I noticed that Yan Yan noticed that my diet is actually hot tamales and whoppers.
So I do live on those.
So I watched a video last night.
I was in a space I jumped in with with josh ong and a bunch of
you know kind of og apes and and it was fascinating because the whole room was you know full full of
apes and and they asked me to come up on stage and i said you know well the only you get asset
i own is my crypto punk um but i've always wanted to get into the ape ecosystem. But what I found most interesting was their discussion as apes
because there was people on stage that said
they literally watched it frame by frame
and spent that somebody watched it backwards.
Somebody was zooming in on all the different artifacts in it.
And I gathered two things from that.
Number one, there's a group of people
that are so deeply engaged
that they want to do that.
It's a game.
It's interesting.
It's exciting.
They're way red-pilled into the BAYC ecosystem.
That was interesting to me.
And these are adults that have jobs and kids and things.
So that was interesting.
The other thing is it's not accessible
if you are new to the ecosystem,
you're not in the BAYC ecosystem,
or you don't have time.
So you have this kind of fascinating dynamic developing
where there's this club, it's very expensive to get into and then people go deep deep deep on it
and i just thought that was kind of interesting we experienced that with proof right where it was
very expensive to get into proof at one point and then we had this game called grails and people
went all in and it felt you know like the way people are looking at this video so i think the bigger
question is does this kind of storytelling treasure hunt dynamic work um is it good
for the community long term yes or no um i think it's interesting so a lot to unpack there
as well yeah i think you hit one of the things that I was thinking about quite a bit was
exactly that first part you said, which it's almost funny, like, hearing you mentioned the
behavior, because to me, I was going to mention, like, almost in a different way of why I think
apes continue to be a successful NFT brand. And it's a thing that's hard to put your finger on
when people try to recreate apes, and what they built from a community perspective, because the level of identity and sort of community that people feel around the Board API Club who have them,
because it has it for many of them materially changed their lives and affected them, is really interesting.
And that first part you hit was something I was going to say as well, which was the analysis of the actual video is hilarious.
Every time Board API Club drops something, because think about it. say as well which was the analysis of the actual video is hilarious every time board api club
drops something because think about it it happened when they dropped the teaser picture as well so
there was a box they dropped uh and people were circling the dog on the box and hypothetically
saying like does this mean my ape which has this trait which i think is what this drawing is on the
box then the box sort of changed uh in the trial trailers they're pointing out that somebody had a
screenshot of one specific part when jimmy the monkey's in the bathroom with a circle saying
is there something in the smoke here which it's probably either just you know an error in editing
or maybe it's something that was like already in that bathroom but like is being obscured by the
smoke but the level of sort of theories that people throw around which we're
going to get the theories here in a little bit as it relates to you ryan because for which horse are
you backing i'll give a little teaser we have a sponsor segment by zed run we're doing we're
going to talk about the best guesses on ryan's project that he has launching in 2023 so there's
speculation abound in the space um but just in general i mean i think the level of speculation
is interesting and the way that
the community gets hyped you know i'd said this like at some point the other day where it was like
and i kind of teased it or said at the beginning of the show as well where very few things get a
like i am a 39 year old man with an eight year old and an 11 year old right i have children i
have a job and yet i feel like a kid on Christmas Eve when Bored Avia Club drops these sort of announcements or trailers or things that happen because you get excited.
You're waiting. The anticipation's there. It's like waiting for any of your favorite things to happen that you'd like to do, like anticipation for a vacation.
Like there's those studies about it's not the vacation itself that is the full value of a vacation.
It's actually the anticipation up
to a vacation that actually leads up to it that helps you as well so that sort of whole piece here
i think is a really good observation ryan of the behavior of how you know people say i like the
trailer i didn't like the trailer but one thing you'll see in the community is these like super
sleuth detectives analyzing it um i want to touch on your second point before i go to clemente real
quick though because i think it's a good question for apes and a beef that i had actually when they
dropped the treasure hunt as much fun as it was which was you know is it accessible to everyone
and how they drop it and are they being thoughtful about that they've had issues before but with
international accessibility of when they've dropped things like the surprise mutant drop that was not
kind to our international audience which i was not a fan of and that the puzzle that they dropped um it was not ideal it was like a random surprise
drop on a tuesday um somebody at professional puzzle solvers had solved it by like the next
day which totally was in the rules but for me that was actually one of my things i was bummed
out about at the time is i love to participate in this stuff, win or lose.
And I think it was, again, like a random Tuesday at like, you know, 930 at night when I had to work the next day. And it was like, well, I can't play this game with everybody else.
So I think your point about sort of the accessibility and ability to play it for people is a really good one.
But Ryan, since I was I was responding to you, I'll go to you first and I'll run right down to Clementmente because you may have thoughts on what i said is related to what you said yeah you bet and obviously um
other speakers we love you and it's nice to see you too hopefully pop up your hands if you want
to participate i don't want to dominate the conversation here um but i well here's the
dynamic like if we zoom out and look at this you know because what if you don't own apes or you
can't get into apes like you know, how is this interesting to you?
I think what's happening, and I think we're seeing this happen with our project, is that people have seen historically that if they get into a collection that turns out to be a rocket,
rocket that long-term it can be this, this, this club that they're in that also yields them,
you know, pretty wild wealth. And if they don't get in early, um, it, it quickly, you know,
slips through your fingers. And that's literally the way I feel about apes. Now it's like, gosh,
I just can't really get in. Like I'd like to, but, you know,000 for something is hard now. So this drives the
dynamic and the interest in it. I want to get in. And then once I'm trying to get in,
I want to solve puzzles. I want to spend time. I want to dig in because it might be worth
the effort long-term. And then you get in and then it's very exciting to to make that effort
because you're already in the door um and you're in the club and and um and this is a fascinating
human dynamic and i think we'll keep seeing this happen with projects but we'll have and i said
this on the show yesterday i think we'll we may not have projects ever again like punks or apes or even early proof
um where these things go from one eth to hundreds of eth right and so will people still be this
interested in spending time solving you know puzzles and and and games if there's no real
financial incentive um it's an interesting thought exercise yeah it's a
good take and i think one that um again i won't i won't go down this track again because i started
off with it it's one of the reasons why i love what doodles is doing because it feels like
the media they're building the ip they're building and potentially irl they're moving towards
isn't going to require you to spend a copious amount of time online doing sort of these virtual
puzzles that are maybe midweek but instead maybe will work more within your everyday schedule.
But Clemente, go ahead and get in here. Yeah. The quick thing I'll say, and I'm going to try
not to get, I get too fired up because I, this type of stuff really excites me. Um, but this
reminds me like what I'm thinking about is what's inevitably going to happen is people try to
replicate this. What always happens is
Yuga does something and then other projects go, okay, they did it. That must be the next meta or
what we need to start doing. But what's so important is like this, this reminds me of back
when I was in sales, right? Where every single person on the team, on the sales team, would try to copy exactly what the
top salesperson was doing. What are they saying? How do they say their tonality, how they follow
up, whatever their process is, they try to follow it. But what would happen is 99% of the time,
they would fail and they wouldn't actually do or perform as well as a top salesman.
actually do or perform as well as a top salesman. Why is that? It's because it's not what they're
doing. It's why they're doing it and in the context of what is happening at that same time.
And that's what is important. It's not actually what you guys doing. And that's not what needs
to be replicated. It's the process and the context of why it's happening. And that's what needs to be replicated. It's the process in the context of why it's happening. And that's what
needs to be replicated is how do you recreate that dynamic that allowed this to happen at a
high level? And it goes back to Ryan's point is like, can that be replicated once again? I don't
think so. So, and that's just my take. So instead of trying to copy what you guys doing, try to copy
how they did it and in the
context of why it was able to succeed to build your own theory your own community and try to do
that at a high level in today's current environment i love it the house so so powerful it's just i
mean you think about i was trying to relate just hearing both of you talk is great takes and I'm trying to think what other traditional movies or film or comics have had similar community speculation and collective lore building and storytelling. And like the, all the Easter eggs they hide throughout that with whether it's the books
or even like the intro of House of Dragon, you know, the story that's told in there.
And it's not an obvious, you gotta, but there's fans that go deep and they have podcasts and
they break all this stuff down, whether it's Game of Thrones or the other one was like
MCU and all the Easter eggs hidden throughout the Marvel universe.
I think that how is a key element of storytelling
that others shouldn't attempt to replicate
or copy exactly what Yuga's doing,
but that how, part of that process,
and this has also been part of the BAYC lore
from the early days,
from the beginning of incorporating the community,
whether it started with the treasure hunts
that Steve alluded to,
or just this always not sharing the whole story. But it's not just about... So many others,
I think, took it the wrong way about being not transparent or having a stealth men. It wasn't
about that. It was about proper storytelling where the community is fueling that storyline if that makes
sense ryan thoughts on that uh happy to go um i see a bunch of hands too so i'll just be fast um
i actually there's a good comment uh from the crowd uh from dow jones and they said would
love to hear your guys take on production quality and the storyline. And that's actually what I want to talk about. I, this is 0% FUD y'all. So do not
interpret this as FUD on BAYC at all. But I found it interesting that the, the, the video is, is,
is like a Ren and Stimpy video, which focuses on kind of body humor, you know, pooping, farting,
bum holes. Like I I'm fine with that. that um but it is interesting and probably it's on brand
um but it's kind of i just that really stuck out to me like as someone that isn't in the bayc
ecosystem it was kind of interesting how that was the focus like literally it's a toilet
you know a guy comes out of the toilet after i i think it's jimmy poops you know interesting like i personally
i want i generally want to see things go towards more kind of like um family friendly everybody
included type narratives um but i do love ren and stimpy honestly and it had ren and stimpy vibes so
there's that all right two things on that I wanted to hit on something with Clemente
because I thought Clemente brought a good point and then actually Ryan
I'm glad you went there because my brain was going
there as well but a couple things
just reset the room thanks everybody for
joining us for Coffee with Captain we run this
back every Monday through Friday at 8am
Eastern time we appreciate our Daily Dose friends
stopping by today and not just providing
not just providing an audience but not just providing, you know, an audience,
but providing great insights.
The comments are great.
We actually had opportunist in the comments post,
speaking of something Ryan said,
slow down the video of Jimmy the monkey
locking the door with the code
because they said, pay attention to details.
And this is the type of thing we see
with Port Avia Club people,
a slowed down video so that we can see the code
if we ever need that code.
On the piece that Clemente said, I want to add one more part just to give Ryan his sports bingo card analogy here,
or a piece here by making a sports analogy, is not just sort of how they do it, which I think is a really good point.
It's also who is doing it sometimes matters.
You know, for years, people would say, let's replicate what the New England Patriots are doing.
But they also had Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, or let's replicate what the New England Patriots are doing.
But they also had Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, or let's replicate what Alabama football is doing.
But they have the best athletes on the planet going to their school.
And sometimes it matters who is executing on something as much as, you know, again, I can try to execute on something like Ryan's doing at the Daily Dose.
It doesn't mean I'll be successful because I'm doing exactly what he's doing and he does it so well.
So I think that there are things that you can see about how people,
it's not just, it's what, it's how, and it's who.
And there's this combination that matters.
I'll save some thoughts on the content
because I know we have a lot of hands,
but before we go through some of the,
I see the order of the hands.
I want to let Vicky, regardless of where she has,
cut the line and say, Vicky, GM,
how many people immediately noticed you in that trailer?
And what's that like?
How did that whole thing happen?
I want any backstory you can give us.
We're fortunate that we usually get to have some newsmakers on
the day after the news comes out.
In this case, it's a regular.
It's Vicky, out of nowhere, in the video, from the top row.
Vicky, what's that about?
GM, everybody. GM, coffee with Captain. I'm very tired. Good morning, Daily Doses. out of nowhere in the video from the top row vicky what's that about gm everybody gm coffee
with captain i'm very tired good morning daily doses ryan commenti um yeah it's absolutely
amazing uh it kind of i i knew something was going to happen possibly but i didn't know what
it was so i think uh the main thing is for me so there's a couple of aspects, is that those who don't know, within the video itself that Yuga launched there was Tropo Farmer, Crypto Keezy, Beer of the Ape, Low Belly and myself.
And that to me was absolutely phenomenal that they included people in the community that are here day in, day out, helping other people.
And it wasn't just a
kind of just a rolled out bogs down a thing and I say I had a feeling something was going to happen
but I wasn't sure what it was going to be so to suddenly get a Christmas miracle that look ma I
have legs and not only do I have legs which I've never seen my legs before I also get a knife
I mean Vera fair play to her I said vera i'm so glad you got the shots
i said i i wouldn't have wanted the shots but to give me a knife perfect branding and i didn't know
um it had actually come out until my phone started blowing up with is that you vicky and and i'm like
oh shit what have i done because like then when all the tweets started coming in of is that you
i'm like oh no
something's gone wrong so I was typically busy at work and didn't see it straight away but um
yeah it's a perfect kind of example of you going above and beyond using the community and obviously
some great community people there and also as we've discussed many times before a perfect example of branding when
you use your pfp and people recognize uh my pfp and they see vendetta around the interwebs then
they know she's now they definitely know she's up to no good because she carries a shank
no that's uh don't mess with vicky if you thought Vicky's roasts that she does on the show are scary, just wait until you see her carrying around a knife with her ape.
So, you know, I think to me,
that's a very good point about the branding though,
is that immediately I saw it,
and I didn't realize Vera should have recognized,
but I don't know every ape necessarily exactly by their PFP,
but I immediately saw you and Tropo and said,
wow, that's Tropo and Vic.
Like that was one of my first takeaways from the video.
Here's the alpha that we didn't realize until just now.
Grimlinks put in the comments,
the code from the video is 41254.
The very first thought, my brain instantly thinks,
wow, this whole time, Ryan and Clemente
have just been training us on how to capture
these codes from these videos
to plug them into the PO app, which that's a whole other story.
But no, the codes, I didn't get the tie until now that Ryan and team have been training us this whole time.
Yeah, surprise, BOIC is dropping PO apps now.
Did you realize where the number links to?
Other deed. You got to look at what other deed it goes to.
It goes to a sewage other deed.
Oh my God.
This is incredible.
I need to get, yeah.
This is, this is,
we got to get some puzzle solvers on the case.
I know, I know at least one very good puzzle solver
that I might have to pair up with my ape and mutant
come for this thing.
That I could, that I could probably tap on this. um with that said rigs because you're excited enough and have done the research
and have already not having a yuga asset you have dove down the rabbit hole to ultimately do this
thing uh let's go to rigs and then we'll go to punter well it's not entirely true i do own one
mutant still so i i do have that one and and i have to hold it because of
an ip play i'm using using with it uh otherwise i probably would have sold it however at this
very moment i do feel some fomo uh even though the the video ended with a butthole uh which was
interesting uh in its own right um i don't want to go too much into that, but just because those that don't
know, I do host a show as well. So I don't want those that listen here to come there and hear
everything that I've got to say. But last night, there were several people trying to figure out
what the clues were. The code, you guys did bring that up there. When you plug that in and start to
look, what are the differences? What could that code be?
The one thing, the correlation I did find, I thought the other side deed made sense.
There was a sewage line coming out of that tube, out of that deed. So I have to imagine there is some sort of play there where this is going to end up taking place in other side.
The trial, whatever that means.
My big gripe I have with the video, though, really is on the animation change.
Based on the other side video to this one, the animation,
the art style changed pretty
drastically and i didn't i don't think it changed for the good but again art's extremely subjective
um so i don't know what everyone else's takes on that that are but i want to tell clemente
this is the first time i've actually been on stage with clemente uh i believe but the con
you hit the nail on the head because I come from sales and business
development as well. And the concept of trying to duplicate what other people are doing,
once I got into sales leadership, I would always say, you can't do what I do. You can take nuggets
away from what I do and try to make them yours. But this is the same thing we're going to see.
We'll probably continue to see duplications when we need to see new iterations.
So I just think what Clemente said was really well said
and shouldn't go unnoticed from others.
So just wanted to give you some flowers on that one, my man.
That's awesome.
Let's run to – it's funny because as we talk about storyline because
i'm kind of with again i'm kind of on ryan's side with the storyline where it's not fud ren and
stimpy was was funny at a period of time it's not exactly and it's i'm fine with it not being
perfectly family friendly but i actually think i said in the in the dj network war room yesterday
i'm not sure that mass adoption looks like a key comes out coming out of a monkey's sphincter uh
but we'll see. It's not
exactly the type of thing where when I call my kids from a NFT trip and I say, and I said to
my daughter, I said, I'm bringing you home something from an NFT, one of the NFT projects.
You know which one it is. And my daughter immediately goes, ooh, I hope it's doodles.
She knows doodles. She loves doodles. And then she actually lost the key chain at school,
literally cried and was afraid to tell
me, of course, I was totally fine with it. I'd gotten one for myself. So I then gave her my
key chain because of course, I'm not going to let her be sad about that. And she'll get her key chain
back and just tell her to be a little more careful. But I think with that, it's like, am I
going to share this video? Actually, my eight year old son probably would like it. So maybe I would
depending. I don't know, there's some some debauchery in it. But speaking it's like when I'm saying like oh when I was eight I might have thought this was
funny maybe again it's their style but maybe not exactly my style but I'm open-minded to kind of
continue the uh the discussion um let's go let's go punter next gm boy I am so pumped this morning
I don't have like the gentle tornado energy but I just want to say I'm so pumped because it's a crossover of two of my favorites, or probably my two favorite communities.
That's how I spend the bulk of my day, definitely my morning. Love you, Gunter.
I've gotten to meet three out of the four hosts, I'll say, because I've gotten to meet Cap and
Steve. I've gotten to meet Ryan and Clemente. I'm looking forward to meeting you one day soon.
But putting all the love aside, I did get a chuckle out of Ryan saying that it's early for the Daily Dosers because actually he has a global audience.
Sorry if I digress for a moment, but I was in a room of the Dutch Daily Dosers the other day,
and I don't even speak the language, but daily dosers are popping up all over the globe so
Ryan shout out to you and Clemente for what you and the whole family has built there. Just real
quick for my take on the trial of Jimmy I haven't really done the deep dive yet but first of all I
love hearing what happened with Vicky. Vicky's a regular not only on the show and I've gotten to
meet her as well. Regular on the show, all over the community,
always talking positive vibes and stuff.
So to see her featured in that is just amazing.
And last thing I'll say is I love the puzzle-solving stuff.
Like to me, I love the lore building.
I love engaging your community in that way.
So while I haven't watched everything and done the deep dive,
so I can't comment on all that, I will say those are some of my key takeaways uh top line
great call puncher i you didn't do the i'm done you almost always do i'm done talking you didn't
do i'm done talking puncher there we go puncher's puncher's uh famous for uh using the accessibility
move from clubhouse which i think is great for those who maybe aren't able to
um who are who are reading and trying to figure out and differentiate who's speaking uh the i'm
done talking is a classic move from from the clubhouse days um right for a second i saw your
hand go up so before going to hands i want to see if there was something that percolated in your head
as we were having that discussion uh and ryan and clemente always feel free to jump in at any time
as we're going um and steering steering this now four-person ship.
No, thanks for saying hello again.
And Punter, appreciate your kind words about our audience.
We're just blown away by the global audience of Daily Dose.
So thank you.
We're just excited to be here. I want to give the show credit because you all, back before anybody really knew about Daily Dose, you all were encouraging people to come by and listen to us and really always appreciate that support.
And Vicky, it's super cool. The comment I did want to make is it's really interesting how much it ties you in emotionally to the brand when they use your mutant in this like global video. And I do think we'll see more of that where, where
brands, and I'd love to see this from moon birds and, and punks and like to actually tie in some
of the personalities into, into brand videos. Cause then you're just a fan for life. Like,
oh shit. Like my, I literally literally my brand is now tied in globally
to this and everybody knows it um so i thought that was really fun to see and then they added
yeah the knife you were just badass like it was just cool i enjoyed that vicky go ahead cap i was
just gonna say ryan hit on like the global community and i just i know first of all thanks
again for for joining us this morning both you ande. I know you've got a really busy schedule and busy day ahead of you.
I do, Steve, maybe we put a, to use one from your line, put a pin in the Ape conversation
a little bit.
We'll certainly continue the takes about the production quality and just the video itself.
But Ryan, I don't want to assume, I do assume that most people on our show, our regular listeners are familiar with the Daily Dose.
And I know there's a lot of Daily Dosers that tuned in this morning.
We appreciate all of you being here.
But do you want to at least take just 60 seconds?
And for those that aren't familiar, throw a pin up about your show later today.
Give the 10,000 foot view of the Daily Dose.
10,000 foot view of the daily dose?
Yeah, thanks, Cap.
Yeah, thanks, Cap.
So as I came out of Moonbirds and started a fund,
we were doing this daily analysis of the market
with John, our associate,
and going through the numbers
and looking at what was happening in NFTs
and talking about the news.
And then I thought, well, why don't we do this as a show?
This is valuable information. So why don't we do this as a show? This is valuable information.
So why don't we do a daily show and just share this stuff live? That should be helpful. It should
be fun. And meanwhile, we were dreaming up this project to launch. And so I literally in a cab from the airport did the first daily dose is called NFT daily dose.
And I think like 800 people joined and we just, I talked about the news and people hopped up and
it was so much fun. I was like, Oh my God, that was super fun. And then we did it again.
And then John, and I want to give him credit. He has a hilarious Twitter handle, which I can
never say it's like peanut butter and jelly
that he's quietly helping behind the scenes.
He said, you know,
why don't we like use PoEps?
You know, G Money did it.
And then we sort of both thought,
well, why don't we drop PoEps on the show
to build the allow list for the project?
And it just evolved.
And, you know, we started doing the show more and more and it got bigger and bigger and bigger. And, and so
now the daily dose is Monday to Friday, 10 30 AM Eastern. And we, we dropped the news,
we drop, um, discussion. We, we really connect the daily dose community globally. Um, and then
sometimes we drop a PO app and and as people stack those po
apps then then hopefully eventually uh they'll be able to get on the allow this next year so
it's just been a wild fun ride and i i every day i'm just blown away by a gratitude and
thankfulness for our community they they're the best i love them so much so um and clemente came
on uh he was helping out on various shows, and he just said,
you know what? I want to help. Let's go. And now he's the producer. So Clemente really helps the
show run and be professional, and he brings a huge amount of value. So I appreciate you,
Clemente. That's the Daily Dose. Yeah. I mean, it's one of the best, if not the best you can find.
And I remember when Ryan came with the concept of I'm doing all this research anyway, figure
I might as well to put out a show about it.
And I just remember him saying that and thinking that's brilliant, because part of the reason
Cap and I actually started this show is that, you know, we're a couple of olds who go to
bed early and we wake up in the morning and we'd be like, what did we miss?
So it forced us to have to sort of wake up, do an hour of research and then talk about it and actually get educated by our own community.
Because what makes I'm sure, you know, your show as well as ours is that people come up and comment in the comments and come up and talk and help us think about things in different ways.
I mean, you know, right off the bat, like the comments that, you know, you and Clemente made about the trial of Jimmy the monkey.
It wasn't about necessarily the trailer itself. It was about these overarching ideas of where the space is going, which is the type of discussions I love to have.
So I appreciate both of you for bringing that point of view.
Cap, as mentioned, anybody who's here to talk about trial of Jimmy, again, I think we can get back to it in just a bit.
But the two things I think we want to hit on is trial of Jimmy the Monkey.
I mean, we want to hit on is uh trial jimmy the monkey or i mean we want to
hit on is which horse are you backing cap and also the other thing which is not i i've been asked
i'm keeping my mouth shut until i'm allowed to talk about it um but cap which way do you want
to go first i'll let you dealer's choice this one well before we go on there one thing that
just all this talk of of pos and I'll date myself.
I've been in this space a while and even we went to like that first NFT NYC and probably this, I don't know, maybe like the first half dozen or so POAPs I even ever downloaded was just like scanning a QR code or going to the website.
It took me, I might have been in the space a year before I even realized they had an app.
So that's the life alpha this morning. If don't have the po app app make sure you've
downloaded that uh you're it's much more efficient it's easy to keep track of all your po apps and
especially if you're if you're stacking them out there you're uh you're missing out if you don't
have the app but steve i think we i know we've got some time crunches here so maybe i mean ryan
alluded to it.
I don't want to put him on the spot,
but we might be able to pry a little bit at Alpha
or maybe even get a comment.
I'm not expecting, because I ran this by Clemente.
I didn't even talk to Ryan about it.
But let's dive into which horse are you backing
because I want to see if we might get a,
maybe some fuel added to the speculation.
So for those who are new here,
we have a segment we do every week
called Which Horse Are You Backing?
sponsored by our friends over at Zed Run.
So if you're not familiar with Zed Run,
it's built on Polygon,
which is the same place that you'll find
brands like Starbucks building
and Nike building
and all sorts of huge brands.
It honestly is one of the coolest ways
if you're not familiar with the platform,
to at a low cost play around on the blockchain
because the cost of horses is, you know,
to race and go with a horse is pretty cheap.
You know, you can get it for less than $100,
I think at this point, which is awesome.
And besides that, it's a beautiful platform.
Again, if you haven't seen it, you can go to the website.
You can see streaming races. And it's gorgeous.
It's one of the things that when I have family over for Thanksgiving and they ask what I do and I say work in tech and they say, what do you do in tech?
And I say I'm a consultant and they say, what do you consult on?
Because I'm just trying not to have that conversation.
I explain NFTs and I'm like, just let me show you this.
And I will plug in Zed Run.
I will stream it on our TV from my computer.
And they're like, wow, this is beautiful.
I'm like, yes, I own that horse. I buy, I can buy horses. I can breed horses. I can sell horses. I
can race horses. And for me, my kids actually helped me name mine. Cap has a very serious
stable. He's one of the larger holders in Zed Run. Big fan. I personally name my horses with my,
with my, with my kids. So we have horses named like cotton freaking candy and we do
talk about bruno and uh we all rotate who when it comes time for me and my wife to name them it's
things like you know midnight taco bell and i love cheesecake so um those are sort of how we do it
uh lebron nays actually is one of my favorite uh that one was not taken uh because at the time
baker was the quarterback for cleveland and baker nayfield was taken which was sad so anyway long
story short um zedron, love this sponsored segment.
What we do is we talk about one of the trending topics, and then we sort of rank them.
So we might say, what is the best project right now?
Well, these mid-caps are running between 8 and 10, Ethan, or things like that.
What's the best IRL event?
Those sorts of things, and we do a win, place, and a show. For this particular one, we've decided to go with the best guesses
on what Ryan is launching in 2023.
So there was a tweet that he put out saying,
any guesses on what project we're launching in 2023?
We went through the guesses, so I'm going to say the three,
and then we'll discuss them, and Cap and I will rank them win, place, show.
So the first one we'll talk about is from lifofifo.eth.
So L-I-F-O-F-I-F-O.
Go give them a follow.
121G pass.
Holders get to spend their earned vote by staking or any other constraint mechanism
on what the fund invests in.
If the fund ends up investing, pass holders get an allow list to that project.
So that was one.
Number two was, I'm guessing you'll incorporate a number of things,
but judging by your daily dose questions about founders and teams,
it feels like a launch pad and web consultancy for Web 2 and or Web 3 brands
that's going to be in the mix.
Vinnie E100, Vinnie E, Vin E, the letter, underscore 100,
dropped that one on Ryan's comment and talked about a consultancy
where maybe the community's involved and helps out with that
and kind of lifts it up as a community.
And then Depengster, so D-P-E-N-G-S-T-E-R,
I'm sure another regular daily doser with a cool-looking doodle said,
a curated native Web3 networking platform for founders,
community members,
investors to interact with each other.
So we have a community,
we have a launch pad and we have almost a Dow that votes on where the fund
where do you want to go first?
you forgot that you forgot the one that was correct.
It eggnog brand.
There's a lot of eggnog brand yes there's a lot of eggnog
this is actually like 99%
chance that someone
in the daily dose community actually develops
and ships an eggnog brand within the next 12 months
at this point I would buy
the heck out of that me too
that sounds that sounds great if it's got whiskey
in it I'm doing it
yes Drew's all the way in
who said that was Was that Drew?
Eggnog brand powered by Rickhouse Dahl.
Drew sits silent in the bushes until there's a chance to pounce
and talk about some delicious, well-crafted drink.
He's always chilling in the cup, just waiting for it to happen.
A lot of people were talking about a better solution for PoE apps or everything.
And as we mentioned, download the Po app app because that app is awesome.
Like that's a great one for scanning, for codes, things like that.
I would say, as Cap was saying earlier, PO apps don't necessarily need a new solution.
The app itself is great and a great way to retarget.
But Cap, where do you want to go first?
And then we'll keep moving.
But we have a DAO to direct funds.
We have a DAO to direct funds.
We have a sort of community just of investors and folks
because he's been curating this community of folks
who regularly show up and learn the news
and are really educated.
And then we have a launch pad.
Yeah, my show, my third place is,
I'm going to go with the curated networking platform
and community.
While I think that is great,
I think that will likely be a byproduct
um i i think it's it's it's like it's almost seems like it's already there and so i i sense
there might be something a little more than that no no no certainly that could be great in its own
right but yeah i'm gonna put that as as number three based on um i think it'll be something above and beyond.
Code is 6953.
Get in there.
PoE app code 6593.
6953, friends.
6953 is the secret word.
So we've been telling you to download the PoE app for a reason. we're trying to tease it out there is a coffee with captain daily dose po app
six nine five three uh you will mint your po app with your secret word in the app so get in there
and get it um mrs nft bark i see you out in the audience you need to get this po app as well uh
let's uh let's get this rolling let's see a couple thumbs up make sure everybody got it um and the mint window closes at 55 so hustle your bustle i'm seeing some thumbs up hustle your
bustle let's go okay fun back back to the guesses i want to hear uh i want to hear captain uh reveal
all so so cap you went with uh you went with show on a uh on on the community uh i'm gonna go with show on the dow only because i feel like i
you know a dow is something that can have a lot of legal implications can be a little worrisome
depending on how it's handled i have no doubt that ryan would handle it with the uh doing
everything above board one of the things i've said often about ryan is that he handles things
extremely above board um the way he's transparent like when people got upset that one time,
I know you came on the show one time,
people were upset that you sold a bunch of moon birds or bought a bunch of
moon birds.
When you announced you were buying a bunch of moon birds and next week you
bought a bunch of moon birds.
So that was always a,
that was a fun week for,
for NFT and people not paying attention to things.
But, but that, so I,
so I just think the Dow is maybe a little bit in the legal territory.
So that is my show.
Who is your place, Cap?
It'll be the Dow.
But you probably reconvince me.
I'd probably put it in third place now too.
But I'm going to go with the Dow as my second place finish.
Wait, for newbies to this game, because I feel like I listen to your show all the time,
but I can't remember.
What is show and what is – what's the other one?
So win, place, and show.
Win is first.
That is our guest.
Place is second.
And show would be third. Got it. Okay, cap has the community for show i have the dow uh for
uh for place you have the dow cap i'm actually going to put the incubator the launch pad for
my place so so my second place is actually the, uh, the incubator. Cause to me,
I think it's a great idea. I just think it has a lot of levels of complexity and how
you're going to weave the community and drive sort of excitement and value in the community
surrounding this incubator group. So, you know, for me, the Dow is the show or the Dow is,
is third place. My second place would be the incubator. Um, and then I'll just go ahead and
say my first place and then hand it over to you to discuss your first place. My second place would be the incubator. And then I'll just go ahead and say my first place
and then hand it over to you to discuss your first place.
My first place is actually the curated community.
The reason being,
Ryan has built this unbelievably educated community
because people who show up regularly
are learning the news.
They're understanding how the world of Web3 works
and they're hearing really intelligent opinions
on the Daily Dose regularly
from the people who speak on stage.
So to me, it makes sense to say, this is the tribe I want to roll with in Web3.
Ryan talked about this board API club community that's so passionate.
And I think that it's hard to recreate something like that.
But I think getting people with common mindset, ideals and visions for Web3 in one place makes a lot of sense.
So to me, a curated community, you you know zeneca's 333 club what
we've done in dgen network these sort of curated communities to me proof collective would be
another example uh ryan's background with it's also interesting talking about ryan as if he's
literally not right here um ryan's background in proof collective i think lends itself he's like
literally standing right here um lends itself to this sort of thing so cap that is mine just to re uh we'll
reset our three places in a minute but uh what is your what is your uh you talk about your win
yeah my win is going to be the the launch pad the consultancy i think it's it's it's maybe it's
i'm biased because it's top of mind don't don't vote on that pool by the way i broke it just like
steve can't figure out how to even announce the proper uh po app code even when it's just a simple task like that i i put a 24 hour
pool up when it's supposed to be like 15 minutes so hold on your votes i'll repost it here in a
second but i i think the idea of like this ycom for for web 3 it it really and maybe it's because
we had pawns and the frogs on yesterday what they're
doing with the the frog tank and i know ryan has done his whale tank in the past like i just
i think there's there's a i see a big need in web three there's a lot of young hungry really
creative types a lot of a lot of great artists a lot of great talents. I think several of which lack maybe the business experience or that acumen.
I think maybe that's back to that community and that networking.
But I think even some assistance along the way, I think, could be really intriguing.
Interesting. So just to review, your three are number one, Launchpad Consultancy,
sort of like the ycom idea two is
dow and third is community mine is number one community number two launchpad and number three
dow so that's sort of the direction that we ended up going ryan i know you have a you have a hard
stop coming up in just a bit here any alpha you want to drop or insight or even teasers you want
to give us uh before you have to run i'm just smiling so much because it's so fun to hear the guesses um uh so much creativity
and like interesting ideas so um it's fun but i also want to come out throw out a comment that's
pretty fun dom dom said that they got the po app and it's their first b-a-y-c because it has uh
y'all's apes on it which is fun um gosh
i mean y'all i want to tell you exactly what we're doing like i i i literally can't sleep
because i'm so excited about it um so trust me i want to tell you everything but i can't
so um but we did drop some big news um i think it was Tuesday that Immutable is our first official partner,
and you should focus on the word first.
So there's a lot of exciting news to come out.
I have a lot of work to do, though, before we reveal more.
I can confirm the fact that Ryan does not sleep.
I wake up to messages from him, even though I'm in a different time.
I'm five hours ahead because I'm in Chile right now or two hours ahead of Ryan.
And he wakes up before I do some days.
I'm like, what the hell's going on?
I'm a morning person.
No, at this point, you're a midnight person as well because you're both.
Because you get messages from, you're always sending.
But anyways.
It's not healthy at all.
Always exciting.
Seriously, I have two phones and I'm not supposed to use my Twitter phone past 5 p.m.
And I've just been breaking that rule literally every day for the past three weeks.
Ryan, I know you've got to bounce.
Any other life alpha or advice?
You've talked about the cool showers, the don't use your work phone after 5 p.m leave us with something that
maybe you haven't shared yet what's a little nugget that you do that's helped enhance your everyday
life yes um so i would say you know what um for me personally and this is going to be very dependent
on your in your style but i actually i'm a verbal processor and so i going to be very dependent on your style, but I actually, I'm a verbal
processor. And so I have to figure things out by talking, saying them out loud. And so actually my
morning meetings with John and Clemente are tremendously helpful for me because I can work
through things verbally. So I think I would encourage people to figure out how they think
through issues and then go to their strength like my
strength is not writing um it's it's speaking and and and figuring things out verbally um so that's
been a big unlock for me um so find your style and like lean in on that that's awesome so really
interesting i'd never put it together but that's steve mentioned earlier that's that's kind of
essentially how this this show got created is i i would prefer much to talk through like what happened last night than than scan an
hour's worth of messages and discord and and uh yeah that's that's a really interesting take i
never really given it much thought thanks yeah verbal processing um y'all this has been uh so
much fun and absolutely honored and blown away that you want us to hop on the show with you and and
appreciate it y'all were i think the first twitter space that i started listening to regularly
so i want to appreciate you for what you've done and also just want to send out so much love to
all of you daily dosers in the crowd like we we would not be anything without you we are a community
we're strong together.
And I just appreciate you so much.
And thanks to Clemente for helping keep the wheels on the bus and John, who's quietly operating in the background.
And then there's a bunch of other people that support me and help me.
I want to appreciate you as well.
So got to bounce.
Love you all.
And we'll hopefully see you on the Daily Dose later.
Appreciate you, Ryan. Again, appreciate you all stopping by. And for those hopefully see you on the Daily Dose later. Appreciate you, Ryan.
Again, appreciate you all stopping by.
And for those who are Coffee with Captain listeners, obviously,
head over to the Daily Dose at 1030.
Again, when people ask me, like, what are the shows that I listen to or what are the shows that I regularly try to make sure I catch,
it's Daily Dose right after ours.
I mean, it is always Daily Dose right after ours.
So we appreciate you all stopping by. It's one where it's like, to me, it's Daily Dose right after ours. I mean, it is always Daily Dose right after ours. So we appreciate y'all stopping by.
It's one where it's like, to me, it's like, it's funny
because I know a lot of people love the pull-ups.
The pull-ups are fun.
It's not even, it's not about the pull-ups for me.
It's about the content.
It's about the hosts.
It's about the people on stage.
A lot of times I have to get tuned into work
right after this show ends.
I'll pop in the Daily Dose and just pop it in my ears
and kind of listen to get, honestly,
opinions that maybe we didn't get in the morning or maybe the piece of news we missed. So recommend everybody
stop by there and also appreciate the life alpha from Ryan in general, because I know that, you
know, a couple of things I'd say, one, what he said about like sort of talking through a wise
person that I know once told me there's sort of two types of people and how they process is why he's like don't judge this person because
they're very quiet because they think before they kind of go through they
process in their mind they take a little time to mull and I'm very similar to
you know what Ryan just said were what Cap said we're I'll talk things out to
get to like the ultimate solution so a lot of times I'll be on the phone with
friends and they just hear my thought process out loud which is an interesting way to go about it
but you know great talk
and you know Clemente brought up the idea of the work-life balance thing
which I think is a good one to even talk about
because I actually had this issue I was talking to Mrs. NFT Bark yesterday
where I felt wrong and weird like something was off
I had worked from 7am until about 7pm or so,
and maybe had like a half hour break to stretch and like a 20 minute break to walk my dog in that
period of time. And I felt weird closing my computer so early and being like, I'm done for
the night. It didn't feel right. I almost felt guilty. So I almost need to reassess my own
relationship with work a little bit and figure out how to make that a little bit healthier
because at the moment it was actually a very hard thing to do so I can associate with what Ryan was
going with there but anyway thanks for stopping by everybody we can get back to I think there's
a lot of people were thinking trial of Jimmy but I know Punter your hand went up during the
segment so I'll toss it down to punter and then we could probably rotate back
into trial jimmy the monkey or moon birds either way um i like both both topics and i know there's
a lot of thoughts on both so appreciate everyone's patience punter which horse get in here which
horse are you backing pull is live it's up above in the jumbotron as well as in the chat
and and rigs and uh drew we'll get your comments back up i'd removed them just so it's it's the
should be the comment all the way to the left for the which horse are you backing and uh, we'll get your comments back up. I removed them just so it should be the comment all the way to the left for the which horse are you backing
and after the pool's done,
you can feel free to post up there again.
Yeah, just a quick comment.
Steve, I was joking with Ryan yesterday
that you and I suck at collecting pull apps,
so we got to get a little bit better at that.
We do show up for the content.
I've probably been in the Daily Dose every day
and I have one of those suckers,
so I'm going to get better at that and I fumbled the bag on the one this morning.
But just real quick, I wanted to just follow up again and say how stoked I was about the space this morning.
A great idea to bring the two communities together.
And something that I've noticed is I'm seeing real-world network effects coming from both shows.
Because after the Daily Dose is the Pop and
Post show, which is a community run show.
And that gets regularly two to three hundred people off of Coffee with Captain.
You know, you now have Riggs' show in the midday and then you have other people starting
social audio.
So it's just really amazing and inspiring to see people coming together, real world
community growth people
stepping up to create content so not to get all feel good and everything but
uh i'm just pumped up and stoked about this so thanks for putting this together
yeah absolutely i credit to cap i mean he just texted me at one point and
actually i think he mentioned it on um he mentioned it on the uh on the what's
it called on the on a show one day where he's like even steve isn't aware of this but we're
doing a crossover with ryan uh next thursday i was like oh cool excited for that you know because
obviously it's good to see ryan we met him down and uh we've met him a few times um it's becoming
regular where we see him at events and we almost are passing uh two shifts passing at night a lot
of times because it's you know you're trying to meet everybody and see everybody and you're like oh yeah we've
we talked quite a bit with ryan but it's good to have conversations with him and bring him
onto the show for the crossover because i truly do believe um you know he has a very intelligent
audience that is uh extremely thoughtful that comes up the stage and speaks and so
it's good to have that but with that said like let's go back to trial so if you were
wanted to talk trial to jimmy the monkey that said, like, let's go back to trial. So if you wanted to talk trial to Jimmy the Monkey,
toss your hand back up.
Let's keep rotating through.
I know Gator, it was thinking about something.
I know Outer, I saw Mackie had a hand up earlier.
So let's go Gator first,
because Gator, you've been patiently waiting.
Your hand must be exhausted.
I was holding my breath this whole time.
But no, Punter, you put it in a really good words.
I like this. I feel the same way about the show. I come on every once in a really good words. I like this.
I feel the same way about the show.
I come on every once in a while and love the topics.
And then just cool to see other spaces that are popping up here and there and other leaders in the space, you know, trying to do things.
But I had a question for Ryan, but it's really to not just Ryan, because I heard I know he's gone.
I heard other people talking about it as
well, like kind of commented on it as well. But one of the things was like, one of the things is
that people were saying is like, they wanted the apes to be more family friendly. And I just don't
kind of like, I really want to understand why, because like, if you really look at the history
of it, it's always been edgy. And I don't think that's, in edgy and i don't think that's in my opinion i don't think
that's what they're going for um so like back in the day when we got the the fuck it tweet like
like we already knew what was up so it's just like why now do we want it to be family friendly when
um when edginess pushing the boundaries of that was the thing. And just about how people are feeling about the trailer.
I think the fact that the last thing that we saw was a monkey's ass was like it was shock value.
And look, everybody in the space is talking about it.
I think they got what they wanted. And I, you know, I, I, I liked it.
You know, like I think that it did. It had the effect that they wanted and i you know i i i liked it you know like i think that it did it had the
effect that they wanted to have maybe they weren't going for that but look look everybody's talking
about it so i just wanted to know why is everybody wanted to be more family friendly
that's a good good take i actually don't i would agree i i actually agree with you on the it doesn't
need to necessarily be more family friendly because they made it
Their brand is sort of punk rock streetwear type feel about them.
Not like the clothes themselves,
but like that feel of almost being like stealthy and how they do things.
having Eminem and Lil Wayne perform is,
and Snoop Dogg and,
and future like that's not necessarily a kid's game,
It's different.
it was just
like probably and again this isn't like this is gonna make me sound like old man shouting at cloud
it was just maybe a titch past my comfort level from a humor perspective as i mentioned like a
little more too much down that road than i expected yeah well it's like but it's also like
sometimes it's like great comedians do that right it's like when you watch some of the great comedians, you'll be like, they're really
And then all of a sudden you're like, ah, that one made me a little uncomfortable.
And then maybe you think about it later and you're like, that was actually pretty funny.
So I think that that was the thing where I was like, okay.
Speaking of pretty funny, that might've been the most reaction I've got all morning.
And like the thought that went in my head now, I blame super spaces.
It's like, man, I think Steve probably just got credit for that.
My one zinger I had allve probably just got credit for all for that that uh that my one one line my one zinger i had all morning you got credit for no i super
spaces don't worry you will always outrank me in super spaces is our understanding uh chamber
our djn co-founder made a comment where he was like uh i don't think steve will ever rank in
super spaces because i think it's emojis against talk time and steve's talk time is way too long
so i don't think uh i don't think i'm winning any super spaces which is which is fine I need to work on
that but but no it's a good it's a good it's a good take from you uh from you Gator I think it's
like it did feel on brand to me it felt like again the beginning part like with the bathroom I was
like kind of ha ha and then then partying with the box was very funny to me that was like sort of on
brand it was like sort of the end where I'm, I could have done without the monkey's butthole with a key coming out of it.
But you're right.
You're exactly right.
People are talking about it.
So I think it's a good take.
And I think it is, you know,
they're building a very clear brand and doing it.
It's a funny part that I heard was people are like,
the CEO of Activision came over and the first thing they did was,
you know, monkey or they're like, people are like,
this is why Nicole stepped down or joking around, obviously.
But like, Nicole's like, go enjoy the monkey's asshole.
So anyway, it was, it's definitely interesting, but I definitely think there's a, I can see
where the people think it's a little like much because to me it was like, probably a
little far, but I think it's a really good point from you, Gator, as far as like, not
just that, but the actual, the really good insight you had at the end is, if they wanted to get people talking, which people would have talked no matter what, but if they really want to get people talking, they got people talking.
So good call, Gator.
Let's go ahead, Gator.
No, no, yeah, no, I was just saying, yeah, like, that's, that's kind of how I saw it.
You know, you know, I don't, there's some things in the space that I don't agree with and stuff you know there's some things I feel like they go too far but
it was just like that was it we it just made everybody start talking about it literally that's
the whole topic and I think that you know um even though it wasn't something that a lot of people I
mean even though it was something that people felt uncomfortable about like it it's still putting eyes on us so um yeah it's funny because there's this old like phrase like you know people would
use like you know if you're talking about the stock market people might be like you know there's
lots of stuff going on and people be like well apple could fart and and the cnbc would cover it
right um and it's like they literally put that to the test they're like board ape yacht club can
literally have a monkey taking a dump with a key that they've swallowed.
And the entire space will stop and pause and talk about it for multiple days.
And here we are.
It's almost like we're a parody of ourselves and our own meme.
But I don't know.
I mean, I'm here for it.
There's going to be different brands who differentiate themselves.
And what did Gordon do?
Exactly what Ryan said.
He came out and he goes, it's Ren and Stimpy Humor.
We're really proud of this work we've put out.
And at the end of the day,
it's what I've said about like,
Kat mentioned game of Thrones earlier and like,
let's take the last two seasons out,
which were,
very bad in my opinion,
not great,
but like game of throne,
people get mad when like their favorite characters got killed.
And it's like,
it's not your decision.
It's George RR Martin's decision.
And that's what makes this show awesome
is that the person driving the ship
is making it really entertaining
and unpredictable and interesting.
And I think with Bored Avi Yacht Club,
it's very much the same.
It's the person steering the ship
or the people steering the ship
are bringing their vision to life.
I want to go to,
actually, I want to go to Outer Lumen,
who's had some technical difficulties while we got her.
Because not only is Outer a regular, not only is she probably the biggest brain I know, she has notes and a flowchart.
So I want to kick it down to her.
Hey, GM, can you guys hear me okay?
You're good. We got you. We did it, Outer. We did it.
Oh, my God.
We've been troubleshooting all morning in the DMs.
That was wild. So I'll tell you what happened in case it helps anybody else who's listening.
It wasn't registering that I was in this space at all.
And Divide like checked too.
It just wasn't showing.
And after restarting, restarting my phone, blah, blah, blah.
What I actually had to do, and this is like, I don't know if this is true or not.
But what I did was I saw a friend in a different like smaller space.
And I joined it as a speaker just to like
literally say hi to them but mainly just to see if I can reset the voodoo of whatever's happening
in Twitter spaces to be registered as a speaker in the space anyway I think um I think I accomplished
that I think it worked so here I am uh thanks for having me up I wanted to respond back to like i don't know an hour ago when clemente said
um something about uh the idea of innovation but before i do that i wanted to definitely give a
shout out to a gator just said about memes because i think like that that's what came out of um of
the red and stimpy-esque um i think aesthetic that um the latest uh video brought which I also, by the way, love.
I think one of my favorite episodes of Ren and Stimpy
was when there was a toothache involved
and they like animated the roots of the teeth.
That was incredible.
And I loved it.
And I will forever remember that as a visual.
And just seeing people like Photoshop
that anus onto like merch and underwear and stuff.
Somebody replied in the comments. Sorry oh somebody somebody replied in the comments
sorry somebody brought in the comments it's a gm that's overlaid with the monkeys you know
b-hole so i think it's exactly oh it's just been really fun and i love memes so so that's been
amazing but as far as like this notion of innovation clemente said how you know like
yuga does something and then it's copied and it's kind of like a
cookie cutter mold for certain things and you know I think we've seen that right obviously with
a lot of derivative projects that came out in the space just not even from Yuga just in general the
the idea of like if we have a 10k maybe that will be the next apes like that was a sentiment for a
while and then even the notion of a second tier membership right the mutants came out and then
everybody whether it made sense or not, introduced the secondary membership to their collection.
You know, I don't even think it was for the right why.
And so that was what I wanted to bring up, right?
This notion of why versus what.
Because something that Clemente touched on is like really considering why something is done as opposed to what.
But so far, the what has been financial gain, right?
The what is that if you do this, you may make money.
So we'll do this as opposed to thinking about,
well, what exactly will this do for our project?
Because they're chasing the what,
which is potential financial gain for holders and for the project.
And I think one of the things that I think is interesting
is that we also, as buyers in this space, contribute to that lack of innovation, right?
Because not only is it put forward for us, but with our buying behaviors, we support it.
Whether it's because we ape into the latest derivative project to think that maybe that will work, or it's because we buy that second membership, or whatever our behaviors are. I think it's important to consider those as well.
I don't think it's fair just to throw any particular, you know, project under the bus
and say, well, okay, you know, they're not innovating because I think it's a twofold
One is sure, perhaps they're not innovating, but they're not innovating because they have
seen another project copy.
And then they've seen success there as well because of the buyer behavior of people getting
into it. So I do think it's, it's a little bit of a push and pull there anyway i'm i'm i am
personally quite excited about what's happening um with this latest news uh and i love the aesthetic
so i'm definitely bullish on it and yeah i'll i'll stop there for now i have a little merch fun
a parody gift uh music interlude for later uh that i think it's
hilarious that i heard on a on a show yesterday which highlights the the whole idea of winning
races definitely community and i think this uh this would be a good support of of of that uh
that horse winning the race the community horse so much good uh so much good information there
like so many things to unpack in that. And I think the meme
part of it, absolutely 100%.
The copycat part
of it, 100%. One thing you said, though,
that I really love is the idea that
we as a community, NFT community,
need to take accountability when there's a lack of
innovation because we vote with our
ETH and when we're voting on
doodle fellas by buying
those and trying to flip them onto somebody else, that that's our choice on something that, you know,
is going to, you know, take money and put it towards there and encourage that sort of behavior
from others, right? Like when me and I'm guilty of it too. Look, I minted two Scottie Pippen shoes
and sold them immediately for a gain and used it to buy the plague frog yesterday.
It's like, I did it.
I minted a project that probably isn't going to have staying power,
and then I sold it immediately to buy that pond frog.
So I'm as guilty as anybody.
Like, I'll tell it myself all day, and it's easy to wild track me.
It's NFT Bark and NFT Bark Bolt.
Like, I want to be as transparent and above board as possible
because, you know, it is what it is.
Like, I'm not hiding anything.
I just want to also just quickly add, and I think that's okay to do those behaviors.
I just don't think it's fair to say that things are not being innovative on, right, when we do that.
You know what I mean?
Like, I think that, yeah, it's totally fine to do whatever it is that you do with flipping JPEGs, blah, blah, blah.
But it's just not fair then to go back and say, okay, well, I'm supporting all of these things. And yet I'm not seeing innovation.
I just want to make sure that I clear that up.
Did you flip for a gain, Steve?
Yeah, apparently you can in certain markets.
And I don't know.
I saw I got the allow list.
And I'm a terrible flipper and a terrible seller.
It's been a long time.
Like I de-genned a lot in the summer of 2021.
And this is one of the very few times i i
got back into it uh and was really going after it so it was it was uh it was one of those things
where it was almost like i felt dirty probably because it was i talk against it of the greatest
player of all time but that's a whole nother story yeah no it's it's nice that uh he was a
we won't go there we could go there we won't go there. But yeah, definitely, definitely nice to...
When you're the teammate of the second greatest player of all time,
your NFT project's bound to run.
But that said, I think that there's some other truth
than what you said about the innovation piece in general,
which was whatever BoardAviatClub is doing here,
they mention it's never been done before
and they're doing something different in this space.
And people don't give them enough credit for Mutants. I'm not saying it's never been done before and they're doing something different in the space and people don't give them enough credit for mutants like i'm not saying it
hadn't been done before because i don't know if it for sure had but a one-to-one trade match
with art based on a deflationary asset that ultimately is burned um to make mutants was
different and new and then everybody replicated it and they've consistently done these things
in their ecosystem that hadn't been done
before from an innovation perspective that people then copy um or at least hadn't been done at scale
it's like the way moonbirds is allowing you to flip traits on chain like has it been done for
yes i had people telling me that hasn't been done at this scale with this level of uh ui and ux on
their website and how they're doing it not that i I'm aware of based on different partner NFTs you have in your wallet.
Like that sort of innovation is interesting.
And I think a lot of people say like, let's copy that mechanic, which look,
like it's okay to take inspiration from others,
but you can't expect to be the next Bored Ape Yacht Club
if you are doing exactly what Bored Ape Yacht Club does.
And so that's why we appreciate when we talk about people like Frank and DGods
that they're trying different things. And it may not always be right, but at least they're trying
to do different things at Proof, at D-Gods and Dust Labs, at Yuga Labs, Doodles. They're all
trying to build their own thing and do things in a very specific way. They're hiring accordingly,
the executions they do make sense. So those i think are important but let's go mackie jack then von fronten in that order then we'll go back to maybe to rigs at that
point um mackie i've been waiting a while after mackie i just i want to recognize um mr benjamin
steve i don't know if you connected the dot yet i was not aware till this morning i think we had
connected but um mr benjamin was the designer of our po app so i want to make sure we get to him i don't know if he's on any sort of time crunch but we can go to mac
and then uh and kick it there next if you don't mind no no worries guys i just wanted to come on
and say thank you so much um your community like my my twitter's blowing up right now with the
overwhelming love from you guys and i just want to say thank you and uh you know honestly i'm
i'm like ryan i wake up really early. So sometimes when I wake up like 6 AM,
10 30 is just way too far away and I need, I need something to do. So this,
this space was great. I had a lot of fun. Really appreciate you guys.
Stop, stop by anytime. We are very grateful. Mr. Benjamin gave you a, uh,
gave you a follow and appreciate you designing that awesome PO app.
It's far better than any, I've tried to design some PO apps.
They're not good.
So I appreciate you, you helping us out there and cap great call out there.
Anytime you need help, man, I'm here for you.
Be careful what you wish for.
We may, we very well, we may well bug you again.
So appreciate you.
No, no, it's like, absolutely will happen now.
So thanks for the, thanks for the offer. And really, truly echo everything Steve said. It is no, so I appreciate you. No, it absolutely will happen now, so thanks for the offer.
And really, truly, I echo everything Steve said.
It is no joke.
It's by far my favorite POAP.
I can't even think what would be a close...
Actually, it would probably be the one...
The close second would be the one that Steve made
for our live coffee with Captain.
That'll always hold a special place in my heart,
but from an actual...
You never know what the future holds.
From a design standpoint, this is first class. Really appreciate it. special place in my heart but uh from an actual you never know what the future holds hey from a
design standpoint this is uh this is this is first class really appreciate it and uh great to connect
thanks guys thanks for having me
mackie go go ahead and get in here now yeah i can vouch for mr benjamin being a quality human being
he's super helpful and is like literally willing to help anybody figure out
anything with poe apps it's yeah he's offered it many a time i'll be i'll be reaching out
eventually benjamin don't worry but on to jimmy trial of jimmy the monkey which god i'm so glad
that i live alone so i don't have to worry about people listening to me say these words out loud
but but the uh the butthole it's it's an attention grab it's uh
it's the cock punch tactic it's like i said it's a meme because it's unlike anything else like the
i don't like it but the fact that they just did it it just it speaks volumes but i am curious about
about one thing what is the new holder experience for bake like for for board apes like does anyone know like
when someone buys a new one now like do they walk into the discord and everyone's like oh
the new kids here like it's such an expensive asset that i feel i have no idea like if i was
i can't afford one and i don't plan on buying one but if i was somebody who was gonna you would
want like a parade a parade in Aladdin?
Yeah, that's what I mean.
It would be so underwhelming to link into a Discord
and do the same thing and be like,
oh, I'm here, look, I got access to this channel
for 80 grand or whatever it is.
Mackie walking down to the main deck of the Titanic
with the big chandelier.
It's like what he expects
when he walks into Bored Apew Club Discord.
Prince Ali!
Yeah, that's what I...
I like the Aladdin.
And definitely Robin Williams doing a voiceover somehow, too.
Yeah, no, that's...
You know, for me, that's something I don't know
because I've been in BAYC.
I bought shortly after Mint when it was like 0.3,
like 4.35 floor. I bought mine for 0.3. It point like like four point three five floor.
I bought mine for point three.
It was like right at four around that time.
And I remember when we used to join in Board Ape Yacht Club, it was a huge deal.
I think it still is, particularly on Twitter, because when I see new apes, I try to welcome them as well.
But what used to happen when you bought last year, which I don't know if it's as ubiquitous this year happening, but like someone would buy an ape.
They would tweet about aping in and like a hundred people would respond it was probably like 10 people
but like my you know i had like 200 followers at the time so it felt big but it's like people
would just respond with like gifts of ape gifts of yachts gifts of welcome you know all these
and it was like this massive like party every time someone joined the club when we um when we used to
do uh back in the day when we used to do back in the day,
when we used to join board at the club,
I'd say like summer last year into fall last year.
Now I think there's still sort of a lot of response on Twitter.
I'll be honest.
I don't hang out in the BAYC discord a ton.
It's not necessarily a home base for me.
It never has been as much as I love BAYC,
not my cook,
my home discourse are sort of DJ Network.
Another one that's a project that I'm working on
that I haven't talked about super publicly yet,
which some of you know and some of you don't.
And then some of the other friendly
faces like
I'll pop into
Goats from Time to Time, On Chain Monkey.
There's a few that I really like.
But to me, I don't spend as much time on Discord
so I'm not sure what the Discord welcome looks like.
I do know that, you know, people do get excited and celebrate.
I'll say this, too, about the community.
It's one of the weirdest communities in the sense that people say,
the amount of times people say, when you meet someone in person,
an ape, an ape, people say, when did you get your ape?
What's your ape story?
And no other community, like, I don't hear people saying, like,
hey, what's your Moonbird story? Or what's your Doodle story? Or hey, how'd you get your ape, what's your ape story? And no other community, like I don't hear people saying like, hey, what's your moonbird story?
Or what's your doodle story?
Or hey, how'd you get your goat?
Or where'd you get your dead fellas?
But apes are big weirdos in the sense that we do that.
I've also heard people say, and this is a weird one,
B-Love said this to us where he said,
I'll wear merch for every single NFT project,
but I don't like wearing ape merch
because I feel like I'm like faking then
because i don't have an ape and i'm like no man you can support whatever brand you want right and
he's like no it feels weird so i think apes just have this weird dynamic so i don't know exactly
what the welcome is like more so in group groups i think uh at least in my experience it's i like
you i'm not in many discords uh hardly at all that being one of them uh dgen is my home and it's where i
spend 99.9 percent of my discord time unless it's like for an announcement um most of my
you know you see it on twitter occasionally um unfortunately there became such a period of like
you know scams or you know fake uh i just got my ape and it was like that was a playbook for a while that that lost a little
bit of its luster. But where I see it mostly now is in these either private group chats on Twitter,
I guess would be most of them. There's a couple of like 75 person group Twitter group chats that
usually it's like someone. I guess I don't you don't see many just like complete strangers aping in.
It's like maybe someone in the space or it's someone that knows someone in their personal life, some high net worth individual that's entering the space.
And so there's, I think, more at this point with such a high dollar asset, it's more of like a warm introduction.
more of like a warm introduction uh here meet my friend so and so they just picked up their first
Here, meet my friend, so-and-so.
They just picked up their first ape.
ape and instead of that being on on twitter i've seen it more in the you know the 75 person twitter
groups that's a good take it's the sub communities because i'm in a few of those as well whether it's
based like i know like there's magic city apes cap that you're you're in and people get excited
about that um and there's also group chats like i i'm in like a bayc good vibes group that um
you know a few people like you know uh you know blau and hello it's morgan and some other folks
started who were just like we're just gonna cure and vibe out and people are like it's funny because
i posted a tweet one time people are like what goes on in these super secret ape chats everybody's
pumping and dumping and i posted a screenshot one day and it's just like 45 gms in a row every
morning so it's like it's like look at us sinister plotting world domination as we say GM to
each other and share memes.
And like, that's basically what happens in those group chats.
But you also figure out when you can meet up, right?
It's like, you're like, oh, I'm going to be in this place.
Or, hey, does anybody have any tips on this?
Or people alert each other of scams.
So it's almost like a club where you, it's such an interesting little strange secret
society where it's not so secret, right?
There's nothing crazy.
It's just people looking out for each other because you have this common shared goal of Board API Club being successful.
And you have this common shared identity of your profile picture and this sort of common shared meeting place.
And I think it's just you share ideas, you have fun, you share memes.
It's almost like a college alumni association or something that's souped up ored up or or kind of you know kicking ass there i don't know steve facero said he he expected the well the trumpet welcome
when he first got his degenesis and went into the war room for the first time have you not
did you not write the custom piano song yet oh yeah i should i should write custom piano song
for new degen holders we do get pretty excited though when people join degen although it's not
going to be like overwhelming because it's a community of a few hundred people so it's not like
the biggest but I think we do a pretty good job
celebrating when someone's like just got my DGEN
pass welcoming a board and
DGEN I mean DGEN
is my home base community by far. Size doesn't always
matter Steve. Size doesn't always
I mean I feel like the question
is almost like does Ape follow Ape still
and yeah that's the thing.
Those are, yeah, those are, that's,
that's actually one of my favorites.
People put out there like,
is ape follow ape still a thing?
And it's like somebody who just like copied
and pasted my ape.
By the way, we probably buried the lead
with not roasting chamber
in the first few minutes of the show,
but congratulations to getting the attention
of the frogs.
Well-deserved.
It may have taken a little bit longer
than Steve and I,
but it looks like you've caught up to us and maybe even surpassed us by the end of the day. Well-deserved. It may have taken a little bit longer than Steve and I, but it looks like you've caught up to us
and maybe even surpassed us by the end of the day.
So just congrats on that.
It did happen.
Oh, I'm so excited.
Actually, I'm not going to say anything.
Go ahead, Kat.
Go ahead, Adder.
Oh, it's okay.
I just given yesterday's tweet battle.
This is exciting.
I guess our science experiment is over before it began,
since it worked. I wanted to share something because I got to hop off here. I've got a meeting
that I think will be probably relevant to every single person in the space if you're a DGEN.
So just a bit of context before I play it. This is a tiny little interlude for the space.
Just a bit of context before I play it.
This is a tiny little interlude for the space.
So there's a community member, part of the MFers, called Dad Mod.
And there's a group of MFers that do production, some really funny parodies.
And it's a show called Daddy Issues.
And so they had the year-end one yesterday.
And this was on the show.
And it's so funny that I asked Dad Mod if I could play it on this show.
Because I think everybody here will resonate with this sentiment.
So I'm going to play it and then I'll pin this to the top of the space if anybody ever wants to show up in the daddy issues.
It's produced and there's different segments and different parody ads and stories.
And this thing was close to home so i
uh i thought that it would be funny to play it so here it is show the entire world how cultured
you are in your music selection like spotify on steroids amen give me some merch. I'll diamond hand this JPEG. Until I die, I'll tell them I'm proud. Even if it's a lie, I'll pay for it too. Yeah, it's alright. Let me give you my wife.
Until I die, I'll tell them I'm proud.
Even if it's a lie, I'll pay for it too.
Yeah, it's all right.
Let me give you my...
Everyone needs to know what music you love.
There you go.
That's amazing.
It's like the part where he's like,
I'll tell everyone how proud I am, even if it's like it's like the part where he's like i'll tell everyone how proud i am even
if it's a lie is hilariously uh hilariously on the nose i think sometimes and how we feel
to share it that's just so funny and i think it's home for most people but especially us uh that
have that have a merch yeah and it's funny because like i i will say and this is a true story
my board a biak club hoodie
the original one is my favorite piece of clothing i have ever owned so like i do love that but i
also have a box of unopened stealing bag mutant merch that isn't very good that i spent way too
much ape coin on so and that's just scratching the surface of the merch I own. Giveaway time.
Yeah, oh, that's actually a great... Mackie, this is why they pay you the big bucks.
I gave away an Invisible Friends hoodie the other day.
Yeah, I gave it away for free,
and I don't really like merch, to be honest.
And yeah, just giving it away to somebody in the community
is way better than letting it just chill in your closet.
If anyone wins my dented feels and visible hoodies, there's a few others that I didn't even get the projects.
I've got merch in boxes.
Whoever wins these, you can blame Mackie for the idea.
Mackie, do you ship it?
Because that's the only reason why I have not done such a thing.
Like with NFTss yeah ship it you ship it okay that's just like an administrative
nightmare for me to like go to the post office with a bunch of like merch and ship it to like
random dgens that like reply to some tweet i have i don't know maybe i need alpha on how you how you
did this well here's the oh go maggie there's this like you know if you want to be legit about it
like yeah you probably shouldn't put your return address on it but i mean i'm shipping one thing
he's got feet pics out there in the wild he's not scared
about it yeah i don't i don't know any board apes i don't have a target painted on my back yet so
yeah i um i was gonna say the alpha uh outer is just say you want to give it out on behalf of
dgen which is what i'll do because i want to unload things in my closet and then i can bill
it back to the dgen account um because it's a business expense or uh or i i you know write it off on my taxes as a business expense so there's
there's a bunch of ways i can sort of sneak my my boxing ship of merch uh box of merch shipping but
when i think about the tax advice with steve section of coffee for everyone tuning in today
for the first time oh yeah i have uh i've been we actually need to probably cap
soon have tax show probably like very soon maybe before the end of the year if we want to talk about
not featuring steve or i yeah i i always relay what i relay what my attorney says um uh and uh
it's funny because my my my tax attorney will give me advice and I'll
mention it.
And then all the people being like, Ooh, you're going to jail.
And I'm like, because I tax loss harvested an NFT.
Um, so it's, it's terrifying.
Um, it's not great, but, uh, I'm doing the best I can.
And hopefully the government sees that.
And, uh, I don't know.
I don't want to, I don't want to share a cell with SPF.
Actually his, his, his jail cell is probably going to be pretty cushy.
It's probably better than my house.
Speaking of bearing the lead, we haven't even –
somehow – give us a round of applause for going in –
well, at least 96 minutes and not once mentioning SBF
until Steve just dropped it.
When there's actually very relevant news,
two of the individuals, two of his former executives,
both pleaded guilty to serious charges
and likely will be rolling on mr spf i assume you saw yeah we talked i did and it's funny because
we had this whole thing on this show where after like two straight weeks of like saturated spf
conversation and uh ftx stuff we actually made this comment where we're like, you know, like he who shall not be named,
like almost like Harry Potter-like.
And we went, we basically challenged ourselves to go like an entire,
like three shows without mentioning it once.
And that was pretty much the only time,
like there was like happened like one time in three days.
And it was so refreshing where we all just,
because everyone was so fatigued by the comments,
but I think it's a good topic to maybe kick in tomorrow
or maybe we can get into it depending on hands.
But before we go through hands, we have a policy here.
Gentle Tornado jumps the line.
Gentle Tornado is the Michael Buffer of Coffee with Captain
and the NFT space.
First of all, if you're not following Gentle Tornado,
the man is 300 followers from 10,000
and he is one of the best people in the space.
You should be following him. I guarantee you'll be feeling good after you hear him,
after you follow him. His content makes me feel good every day. Reminds me,
puts a smile on my face, but also reminds me to stay positive. So with that,
I'm going to throw it down to Gentle Tornado. Anything you want to say, GM.
GM, GM, GM, GM, GM, GM, GM, GM, GM, GM, GM. Let's go. We are absolutely riding. Oh my gosh. We are three days from Christmas, but the vibes are absolutely immaculate. Oh my gosh, Steve, that intro was way too nice. But yeah, we are absolutely out here making positivity louder every day. Grateful to be alive. Grateful to be in the D-Jet Network. Grateful to know Steve Kaplan and all these beautiful people in here.
You guys are all incredible.
We can't stop, won't stop, baby.
Let's have a good freaking day.
I'm ready to run through a brick wall right now.
With that said, I always like to think who has to follow Gentle Tornado.
Von Frunten.
I know you usually have a hard stop, so good luck.
You're next.
I am not even going to attempt to follow that.
So I'm just going to hard pivot into my less caffeinated world here.
But I love that.
I feel like every show needs to start off with that.
It'll take the place of any caffeine I have in the morning.
GM, everybody, two things.
First, a huge shout-out to Vicky for being in the video yesterday.
That was awesome.
I had the same reaction when I saw Vicky in there.
I was like, hey, I know her, even though, like, you know, we've never met.
But I feel like I know her.
And then, Punter, I know you're working on the next version of the bingo card uh did don't
know where monkey butthole is on your list but that's definitely been uh hit a lot today um
so two things one on one on jimmy and i think one on just like the broader like
should we be you know be like more like yuga or not um so my uh there's you know so many
conspiracy theories about, you know,
Jimmy and the code and all the different things people are trying to pick
apart on the video on the animation style.
I've got a not well founded hypothesis,
but it'll be interesting to see,
like I too liked the other side video,
like just the quality and like the animation style better.
I didn't dislike this one. It was just, you know, if you're going to ask me to choose one, I like the other side video, like just the quality and like the animation style better. I didn't dislike this one.
It was just, you know, if you're going to ask me to choose one, I like the other side one.
I do wonder as Yuga is starting to build out all of these different brands, right?
They've got Board Ape.
They've got other side.
You know, they still haven't done too much with their Larva Labs acquisition.
They've got 10KTF they're going to do stuff with.
They all, some of them come with their own style.
I do wonder if they're going to do stuff with they all some of them come with their own style i do wonder
if they're starting to make their own style and so you know if in the next video they travel down
the toilet to that other deed that's in the sewer as we've been talking about does that take on a
another side view and they kind of have these distinct i'll call it like visual animation
branding based on the different you're give me big time, big time.
Take on me vibes where it's like on one side,
it's like the super like photo realistic.
And on the other side, it's this.
It's like, it's like, it's like a wizard of Oz.
Like, Hey, we're in the real world.
It's black and white.
We're in Oz's color.
I wonder if they're going to do the same thing.
I got no alpha on this.
I just think it would be really cool and a cool way to somehow then
incorporate Wagmison and 10 KTF and stuff like that in the future too. So we'll see if it goes there. no alpha on this. I just think it would be really cool and a cool way to somehow then incorporate
Waggon Sun and 10KTF and stuff like that in the future too. So we'll see if it goes there.
The other thing on, so now like, you know, that's my fun monkey butthole video comment.
Going into the kind of the Yuga thing and innovation, I i mean i don't necessarily knock anybody who follows
um we talk to founders a lot in our project um and they're looking at what to do and there are
some things that work and some things that make sense i do think the why um uh i think uh i forget
it was vicky or at our lumens that made the comment like you know there's a why there's a how
there's a what um there's a when there there's a who, there's all of that.
But I look at kind of web 1.0 companies, right?
I look at Google, right?
Google has a product that competes with Microsoft Office.
They weren't the first ones to make a word processor and a spreadsheet and a, you know, presentation software.
presentation software, but it fit within their ecosystem.
But it fit within their ecosystem.
And so they followed in that regard in order to bolt something on to kind of
have the, you know, the whole be greater than the sum of the parts.
So I do think, you know,
for anyone out there that's building or looking to build or part of a team,
I don't personally think copying is a bad thing.
I do think that it needs to be intentional
and find out why you're doing it. See how does this add to the overall value that you're creating
for your community, your customer, your whoever, and then do that. If that's all you do, I don't
think it's going to be a long-term successful business model personally, but I don't think we
should be discouraging people from taking things that work and fitting it into their ecosystem where it makes
sense no i dig that um and i think that that's like uh i think it's a good take actually i want
to try something new we've been thinking about trying this in general i want to look at the
crowd for a minute and um we talked about like copying being good or bad i want to ask a straight thing
people following board apes and what they do and doing it in their own way thumbs up if it's good
or thumbs down if they should be doing uh if they should straight up just be doing it themselves i
see rigs with a thumbs up jack with a thumbs up copying is okay to do it the right way joe with
a thumbs up joe's a really smart person warp joe girl in the verse thumbs up so um you know i see
a lot of thumbs up in the crowd coming out.
So actually a really good take there, Von Fronten.
I'm seeing the thumbs up start popping.
Jawan, thumbs up.
Rook, thumbs up.
So it looks like a lot of people.
Tebow, thumbs up.
Most people.
There we go.
Banana Candy, thumbs down.
Do your own thing is what Banana Candy is saying with the thumbs down.
Fiery Bird, thumbs down.
Luz just giving us the fist.
Suarez, thumbs up.
Seems like the majority of people agree with you, Von Fronten.
So I like that.
Good take this morning.
Thanks for bringing a little bit extra value there.
Dow Jones thumbs down.
Can I jump in here, Steve, for a second?
Because this is actually something that I was going to mention.
And by the way, love Gentle Tornado.
Appreciate you coming up here, getting us fired up.
There have been several days just to give him some flowers that I've been down.
As many of us have those days, you see him, one of his videos,
or you hop on one of his spaces, and, you know,
he'll force you almost to say what you're grateful for.
Even on a bad day, just saying it out loud is something that we should all be
trying to do.
So I just want to say I love you, brother.
I appreciate everything you're doing for the space and just bringing positivity.
There's a great book.
And when I say book, it is like a children's reader almost,
the style of read by Austin Kleon called Steal Like an Artist.
If you want to emulate somebody, that is fine. But take it
and twist it. Make it your own. That's why I put the thumbs up. If you were just copying and
duplicating exactly how it is, I would have said a thumbs down. But if you're taking something and
trying to add to it or transition or make it your own, as I mentioned earlier, it's just a powerful thing because you want to learn from –
your parents always say, learn from my mistakes, right?
Don't make the same things – don't make the same mistakes I did.
Well, this is the same thing.
Learn from other people's mistakes.
Sport API Club was one of the earlier projects.
Yuga Labs, Larva Labs, so on and so forth.
If they've made mistakes, don't make the same mistakes.
If they've done something really good,
you should probably try something that they've done that's really good,
but just try to make it your own.
So I just wanted to add that.
And then the final piece, and I'll end up stepping down
and listening for the rest of the show.
So I just appreciate you guys always putting this on
and giving us a platform to talk.
But for what Gator was mentioning earlier that it got everyone in the space talking you're
absolutely correct it got everyone in the space talking my concern is wait till everyone outside
the space starts talking about it that that's why i think the butthole yes it's memeable it's
hilarious i think it's funny uh i'm sitting there looking for clues, so on and so forth.
But as we continue to try to transition to bring on and onboard new people,
if the mainstream news media gets their hands on this, what do they end up saying?
How do they end up saying it? Does it end up on LinkedIn? so on and so forth. So it's just, it's concerning to me that the largest team in the space chooses to do this,
even though it is on brand, when you know it's going to get out and other people are
going to start talking about it, but it's not going to be the way we want them to.
I mean, I get that point of view, but I also um and then i'll i'll run to punter i'll
just say very quickly i think it's it's dependent on like if they're building a brand um again it's
incumbent upon them to build it the way they want and i don't think they have just the way that d
gods doesn't have this obligation to the solano ecosystem to do things in a certain way just
because of them i would argue that board apClub doesn't necessarily have an obligation to Web3 and
I would say they've already done more for NFTs as a whole than pretty much any single
person not named Vitalik.
So I think what they've done for the space as a whole and how they've moved it along
and the way that they, they literally started the PFP era and the bull run.
I mean, like there was not, there were PFPs beforehand.
This is the first Unitable one that everybody kind of got under and then everybody wanted.
And they're one of the first ones that didn't want to flip to get a punk, but wanted to be punks, which made it really powerful.
And so I just think like with all they've done, I don't know that they have an obligation to do that.
I see your point.
I think it's two separate points, so I'm not critiquing your point, Riggs.
I think it's two separate points.
So I'm not critiquing your point, Riggs.
I get what you're saying there.
I get what you're saying there.
But I also think, you know, if they say we want to do something so unbelievably weird
and we want to be punk rock, Ren and Stimpy, you know, they're going to go up or go down on that.
And for me, like, if I was, you know, if I was, you know, clutching my pearls over it,
which I'm, you know, I'm being accused of in the comments today, which is hilarious,
like Chambers making fun of me, who's, by the way, probably very conflicted
because he jokingly fuds Board Ape Yacht Club all the time.
And now this video feels very up Chambers' alley.
So he's going to have to, like, make a decision here.
But, like, you know, to me, it's like,
if I'm clutching my pearls over it,
I can sell my ape and that'll be that, right?
You take the payday and you go to a community you vibe with.
So I think I get what you're saying,
and I think it's a totally fair point.
I would say it's not necessarily their responsibility to do anything other than continue
to build the brand they want because i think people would have said the fucking tweets aren't
great people might have said the mutants aren't great people might have said a lot of things they
do aren't great you know so i think them following through with that is you know just them continuing
to follow through on their vision and and not, you know, that's sort of how you build a successful brand by knowing who you are and building it.
I do not disagree with you at all on that, that they do have the decision making power
to build their own brand the way they see fit.
But it is also our right to have a little bit of caution and fear of what other people
will end up saying and will it end up delaying, you know,
potentially delaying the mainstream coming in. And again, I, that,
that statement's probably an overreaction, but before I hop down, I just,
if you don't mind giving a quick little plug,
if you got all the new listeners here today, one,
I appreciate you coming in. I do host a show as well.
That's powered by DJ network at 12 12 p.m eastern standard time i'd
love for anybody to come and join uh and we can kind of continue this conversation j webb is my
co-host and i i expect some spicy some spicy takes from j webb so i would love any of you to
to join in uh i had it i'll pin it before i hop down off the stage, the link to the show. So just prior to that.
But I appreciate you, Cap.
Appreciate you, Steve.
As always, love everybody here.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, check out Riggs' show at noon.
So go to Daily Dose at 1030 after this.
Then go up to Riggs' show at noon.
And then at 4 p.m. Alpha Afternoons by DGN Network.
If you're following our DGN Network handle up here, give it a follow.
Alpha Afternoons is awesome.
Probably the most underrated show in NFTs in the sense that the guests they get
are unbelievably next level from A.J. Vaynerchuk to Alexander Taub
to like you name it.
Every single A-list guest they seem to get on.
So Alpha Afternoons, one that's good to watch with what they're running over there.
But let's run to Punter and then I'll keep rotating through.
Probably Jack next.
Jack has been waiting a very long time.
So we'll go Punter, then Jack, and then probably Gator, then Eric.
So Punter, get in here.
Real quick, I do want to respond to Riggs, but I popped up to just let everybody know
I've pushed out a new version of the bingo card, and it's pinned into the Jumbotron
if you want to check it out.
We didn't really hit too
many of the boxes today. But Cap and Steve, I want you both to know that I'm starting my mind
is starting to run wild with some potential branding opportunities and potential sponsorship
stuff. So let's talk about that on the side. But no, I want to push back to Riggs and just say,
like, you know, we've we've we've seen irreverent content for many years. I mean,
I wasn't a big Beavis and Butthead guy, and I'm definitely not a huge South Park
But I mean, if you see some of the stuff that comes out of those shows, you know, and the
content they are pushing out, I just want to push back.
Like, I don't want this space to be all warm and fuzzy.
There's different projects for different folks.
If you want to buy a pudgy penguin, if you want soft and cuddly, you have that. If you want to be a bored ape, you have that. You know, I'm a
huge, I'm a huge maxi in a project that I won't show right now, but that has a lot of content that
some would be like, you know, that's not what I want to see, or I don't want my. Pablo's, let's
show it. Pablo's, Pablo's. We can say it. It's an awesome project. You have a great community.
You're talking about the Pablo's, right? I love the MFers and I love my Pablo's but if you look at Pablo's you know we've
got some we've got some questionable imagery but you know what it's for the people that are in that
project you know it's for the people that vibe with it so I just want to say like I don't want
this space tamped down and and pushed to the lowest common denominator of oh it has to be
you know kid friendly or we won't get the masses in here. I just I don't see that. That's not my take. And I'll push back on Riggs every day on that one.
That brings up another point of people being forced to be one dimensional. This is not what
Riggs is saying. So I'm not saying this related to Riggs, who I think has a fair take and similar
to like, you know, Hunter, I think you're in the same boat, but like people being, one of the things I hated, I worked at an agency, like a, like an agency that did
PR and marketing for other brands. And when I was at that agency, I felt suffocated because
I couldn't be myself. I couldn't make the jokes I wanted to make. I couldn't like the things I
wanted to make. Like I couldn't dress the way I wanted to dress. And look like, you know,
Hunter put together a new bingo card. The why i worked at progressive insurance for you know almost 10 years was because i walked in the door and they said you
wear what you wear you think what you think and who you are is valued when you bring your whole
self to work i was more successful at that company than anywhere else i worked because they said be
yourself and what you bring to the table will work one of the things i love about the nft space i'm
allowed to talk about edibles i'm allowed to talk about the way I want to dress. I'm allowed to wear hoodies
wherever I go. I'm allowed to be myself authentically. And I'm accepted here. And in
fact, it's celebrated and I celebrate other people. I'm not as I'm not I'm a positive guy.
I'm not as hype as Gentle Tornado, but I love that he exists. And I love that he's himself.
And I love that he does this for us every day. You know, I'm not as thoughtful, sometimes the way I approach things as Dow Jones, right? In his calculated, thoughtful, almost stoic way, even when he's like, you know, criticizing something. I can't be exactly that way. But it's what makes Dow awesome. And I love him. I love Captain's like, you know, sort of like way he sears the ship and thinks about things in a business way because he has this amazing entrepreneurial background. All of these things make this space an awesome melting
pot of different people. And I like the fact that people can be different. So like to Punter's point,
one of the things I love about NFTs is I'm LARPing as a picture of monkey on the internet and it's
totally normal and it's totally cool. I have friends who make fun of me on LinkedIn or Facebook
or other places like that, but here it's normal and I can be whoever I want to be. And I do like the fact
that I can say people can be multi-dimensional. It's not that you have to be professional. Doesn't
mean buttoned up, wearing a suit, going to work every single day. It means that you're good at
what you do and you love what you do. So, um, you know, not to overly rant on it, but puncher,
you really struck a chord there because my life has changed since I've been allowed to be myself. And anytime I've been told
otherwise, it has been a hindrance to me as a person and my life. So I just love what you said
there, puncher. And I think it's what makes, you know, to some degree board, a dot club,
maybe it's not for everybody, but they, the founders are being who they are. And by the way,
part of who they are, we had a discussion yesterday about if Yuga goes
public, would you rather have public stock or an ape? And that'll be a whole debate we can have
tomorrow or another time. But like, one of the things I said is as long as those founders are
in place, I know part of their ethos is making sure that apes get utility and they bring things
back to the holders. And to me, that's just, you know, that's something that I appreciate about them. So them being themselves is being weird, having fun, fuck it tweets, giant concerts, and bringing utility back.
And it all comes together with it.
So I think, Punter, go ahead and respond, but it struck a chord.
No, I mean, dude, it was amazing, bro.
And I feel bad Riggs stepped down, but we will continue the conversation in the midday because, you know,'m sure he would react to what i said but real quick i'll just give you an analogy uh you
know i do packaging design right and in the 50s and 60s there was this push to like make all food
labeling generic right so if you had a can of beans it would just be a white label with the
word black typography on it beans right, right? And guess what? People fucking stopped eating.
Like people stopped buying food, right? So the idea here is like, let's not try to like,
just make everything generic and like, oh, we're not going to usher in like, nobody wants onboarding more than me. I'm an onboarding maxi, right? But we can't just tamp it down and say,
you know, we, oh, we, you know, we don't want to scare people away from the space. We need to have
a marketplace, a bazaar of different vibes, different projects, different strokes for different folks.
And that's how we're going to get people excited about stuff.
And I'm done talking.
Great, great, great take, Connor.
Let's go to Jack, and I'm going to go down to Gator.
Jack, thank you for your patience.
You have been waiting probably for two hours, and you're one of our faves.
And you always have an insightful point, not to put pressure on you jack but gm no pressure steve no i'm um i needed the time i'm
still running off beignet and espresso and thank god uh gentle tornado came in and you know the
sugar dip was coming and i was starting to drop off a little bit and then gentle just comes in
and smashes me right back up feel like i've had another espresso so yeah i'm
ready to go this conversation's been incredible uh your point on feeling and being who you want
to be uh like it strikes such it just hits me right in the feels because that's exactly
how i feel by the way i'm really sorry if the background noise gets a bit much now i
like it's been silent in my hotel room for the past two hours.
And now I feel like a leaf blower is about to just come storming past my room.
Can't even hear it.
Your audio is crystal fucking clear.
Awesome, man.
Well, yeah.
I was literally a very, very swanky Asian joint the other day.
And this may be too far.
This is how much the NFT space has brought me.
Like the confidence and just myself that I now bring
just in my everyday life outside of this space
because it just brought me so much confidence.
I was in white socks and sliders in a swanky Asian joint.
I had my Invisible Friends hoodie on.
Like I was literally sat there with my Moonbirds fanny pack on.
Like my God, people, like if they directly saw me,
I may have caused a seizure
and i was all about that it was it was fantastic and and yeah i just love this bloody space and i
love you guys so much like you you say i've been waiting for two hours it has not been any sort of
hardship whatsoever because the conversation's been fantastic and i would have been a listener
anyway so thank you so much for that um my point was going to be um
especially with with the video of bea where i see that recently released was i'm really in the pro
camp and you know there's been some points with like ape coin where i wasn't a massive fan of
the american holders having to you know circumvent like the the general process but
and with this i'm so so pro i think what they and, you know, it was signified by the fact that some of that video was beer pong.
And, you know, they're definitely bringing that, like, almost the college vibe, that, like, sentiment of a lot of people had the best experiences in their lives at college.
And even if they weren't at college, maybe, like, to myself, I started a business when I was 18 and didn't manage to, it blew up and I basically, I didn't manage to get to college even though I
was accepted. And so I went traveling afterwards and it, you know, very, very similar experience
where, you know, you travel the world with a group of people. But then you get older and your
friend circle, it gets a little smaller and, you know, maybe you have one or two really,
really close friends that you keep in touch with with but maybe they move on as well because you know if you're anyone like me you're moving
where the business is and you're moving where you feel you can best your life and sometimes that
means that the friendships you've cultivated just get a little bit more spread thin and I think that
is what BAYC are doing a fantastic job of and when Clemente was talking about like how sometimes
people will copy pasta that sort of situation I think that element of it is the like secret
source it is that you know it doesn't matter if you're 20 40 60 like if you're someone who
loved that college experience or you love that camaraderie or maybe you watch like Friends or
Big Bang Theory or whatever your sources were like you know what that's what i want i want that close friendship circle and i don't care how old i am
like i want that vibe back i love my family but i also want that group i think that's what they're
doing very very well and they are playing with our nostalgia like the ren and stimpy that was by no
accident like they've got their audience and to be honest it seems like it's a similar age to
the founders themselves and they are going to monetize that they're going to monetize that
ability to say like anybody any one of us like what what do we really want in life and i think
you know you do well at work have a great career have a great family relationship but then there's
that peace with friendship and i think it
is one of especially since covid one of the most difficult things to maintain and i think that's
what the nft space is and i think that's what byc are doing so well of and that video cultivated
that for me and it just gave me those college rides of like yes i want to play beer pong with
you guys and it doesn't have to be beer if you don't drink i'll play water pong i don't care but i want to be with you guys talking about nfts talking about like what connects us
um and hopefully talking about like how am i going to explain to my kids that that don't exist
currently by the way but how am i going to explain to them that what brought the ball run back was
actually some video of a monkey's butthole and And yeah, that's why they're in college right now. Like this, all of it is just like,
I'm buzzing and gentle, big thank you for you
for giving me a bit more of a kick
because right now I'm just running off like beignet
and espresso and that's my piece.
That's a good take.
And I think it's just a fact when you think about like
community is a core pillar in any major Web3 brand. And it's why, not just a fact when you think about like community is a core pillar in any major
web three brand and it's why not just web three brands it's the thing that web two brands and
legacy brands want to capture they can have a one-way interaction with somebody but by adding
ownership and utility and identity to things you can really jack up what that community does for
you it's one of the reasons starbucks is getting intoTs. They are doing a loyalty program that allows you to own your loyalty and sell your loyalty.
Do you want it for keepsakes? Do you want it for the benefits and make those decisions?
And people already have identity for Starbucks, right? I mentioned this the other day. If I'm
walking through an airport and there's a Starbucks nearby, I float like a cartoon that smells a picnic basket over to it through the air as I waft the coffee and go and
order one. So it's like, I identify as a Starbucks person. So for me, like, it's a logical next step
to say, oh, I can own something in this universe. I can feel more connected to that brand. And the
next thing you know, you foster a community around it. Next thing you know, that community is your
brand ambassadors. And like you said, it's almost like you have this whole new friends group.
Caps compared it where he said, I feel like I'm in college again
with how many people I've met.
And it's like, I just joined this crazy startup with a thousand new friends
and all these different vibes you get that are sort of hard to replicate
in things that aren't Web3.
And it all starts with the concept that
you actually own. You have a locus of control over the asset you own. So I think that that changes
how a lot of things happen with you. And then that ownership leads to the utility, which makes you
excited about it, which leads into identity because you start to do it right. The same way you might
say, I may, I may, you might get a bike and start riding it. And then you ride it enough times daily.
You're like, I am a, I am a bike rider. I am a biker. Right. and start riding it and then you ride it enough times daily. You're like, I am a bike rider.
I am a biker.
And then like maybe then you find a community of other bikers to bike with. It's the same sort of level of tiering but in a provable digital ownership way which has applications across the board.
So good take, Jack.
Love that.
Let's run down to Gator next because I know a lot of people have been talking about your comments.
Gator next? I know a lot of people have been talking about your comments. I want to get it
I want to get it back to you.
back to you. Yeah. No, I really appreciate what Rick said because that leads into one of the
comments you said was that what if this gets out to the general public, like everybody in the world,
right? What if they put it on the news? I think that it's a good thing because then that allows
for the conversations to be started about Web3.
You know, like everybody's screaming mass adoption and everybody wants to onboard new people.
It may not look like what we expect it to look like.
It may look like a monkey's butt and that catches the attention of the world.
And then now everybody's like, well, what is this thing?
OK, what is blockchain? They may not be attracted to the apes, but they may be attracted to Kaiju Kings.
They may be attracted to DJ Network. They may be attracted to now they find out about Starbucks, you know, like different things.
So, yeah, like I would say that it's not all that bad.
Yeah. And it's similar to a lot of things you see in tech companies in general. Right.
general right i mean like with uh you know when facebook and when gary vaynerchuk said that
facebook was going to acquire instagram and then he was right and then they acquired it for i believe
it was like a billion dollars and he said they stole instagram he literally got laughed at on tv
whatever the acquisition cost he said they stole this thing because people can't fathom the idea
that you know people posting know, images of themselves
is worth something, right? But it is. TikTok was funny as like a little dance thing that nobody
was paying attention to until it became the biggest, fastest growing social network. Twitter
was silly when it was like nobody cares what you ate for breakfast until the plane landed on the
Hudson River and the first reports came from Twitter and you realize it's a place to make
real-time news, real-time connections. Facebook was silly. You know, oh, I care about posting on
people's walls and poking people until it wasn't, until you realize there was data and monetization
and their stock tanked to start and then it went right back up. And so I think there's all these
different like things that people will say about new technology. You know, I've told the story.
I taught myself HTML in sixth grade. I'm 39.
I taught myself HTML before Google because I wanted to build websites
because I thought it was cool.
And I had teachers, parents, adults tell me,
not every business needs a website.
This is silly.
Figure out what you're going to really do
when you grow up.
So this is how technology sometimes goes.
And if it comes in the form of a monkey's butthole,
people will say, oh, it's hilarious.
There's a monkey's butthole flying around.
What's this to do?
You know, what's the big to do about this? NFTs are stupid.
But the more they continue to push forward and the more you see them, it's like,
maybe you should be paying attention to it. And one thing I've noticed in overtime is that
I spent years before I got into the Marvel comic universe. I spent years before I got into Harry
Potter. It didn't mean I thought they were bad. And even if I don't like them, like, let's say
that somebody doesn't like Taylor Swift,
she's doing just fine without you.
And there's something about her that people like,
you know, there's something about all of these things.
And when I would say I didn't watch Marvel,
they're like, why do you hate Marvel?
It's like, I don't.
I didn't love this first movie in particular.
Now I've learned to love it.
Don't get me wrong.
But I was like, I didn't love this first movie in particular,
but it doesn't mean I shouldn't analyze why other people do.
It doesn't mean I shouldn't analyze why it's popular.
And so I think a lot of people will see things with NFTs and they make jokes and they make
monkey pictures and what are these things?
And it's ridiculous.
And I think a lot of people don't pay enough attention to why something's popular or they
There's NFT projects I didn't like and I'm not into 10KTF.
It doesn't mean I don't understand that it's actually a very relevant
project in the ecosystem and it's good. So I think that that's something people sometimes lose. And
to your point, Gator, like maybe that comes in the form of this weird monkey's butthole all over
the place and people start making fun of it again and having that conversation. But at some point,
people need to realize that if someone's willing to pay six figures for a picture of a monkey on
the internet, they'll realize at some point it's not just a picture of the monkey on the Internet.
It's a verifiable ownership of the thing that's pointing to it behind it.
There's the token and there's the image.
And so I think like once people start having that conversation more, it'll be good.
And maybe something provocative is the good way to get it going.
So I like that. I like that take.
Let's let's run to Dow and then we'll go up to
Vicky. Dow, get in here. GM from New York City traffic. Iver from Staten Island is back.
The biggest thing for me, takeaway from the Jimmy the Monkey, is how obvious it is how We
New Labs has got their fingerprints all over it. It's the same format that they do all the 10 KTF
drops on. And then as far as the
content in the monkey butthole i mean that screams people to me um so i would just expect that style
of content moving forward and then i just think as far as the monkey butthole goes it's just a
missed opportunity that does it for like you guys always talk about your daughters and bring your
family into the space you can't watch that with your 16 and 11 year old daughter because there's
a monkey's butthole mind you now because it's in this we
knew style we have to wait for the rest of the trailers to drop and this is going to be something
apes are going to have to get used to because that's what ken 10 ktf does all the time but like
how important to the storyline is that monkey's asshole going to be that like you can't go and
show that video instead of the zed run when you're sitting there at Thanksgiving. You know, it's just a missed opportunity in my mind by a leader of the space.
Like, does it need to be there?
We will find out.
But if it doesn't need to be there, like I said, it just seems like a missed opportunity
for Yuga holders to enjoy stuff like this with their families and like with their friends.
You know, it's just another kind of more embarrassing, you know, it's cringy.
You're not going to show that to your boss at Progressive.
I may show it to...
It's a fair point because if I still was in the corporate environment,
this wouldn't be the thing I'm sharing.
I may show it to my eight-year-old son.
I'm not going to lie.
People may judge me on that.
But I think my eight-year-old son is going to kick out of it.
The whole intestine would have been fine.
You can get away with telling that entire story
without it being the final cut frame is just the asshole in the toilet seat.
So, like, I just, we'll find out where it goes as far as being attached to the story.
But, like, it's very people, in my opinion.
You know, he likes that shock value art.
They did acquire Weenu.
And then I go back to the breadcrumbs of, like, you guys were all talking,
hey, they kind of dropped this during the ApeCoin, like, last minute thing.
They're kind of dropping this to look right when stuff's going on left.
So like, is this WeNew scrambling?
How planned is this?
That's just kind of where my mind goes for it.
But no doubt in my mind, WeNew's footprint or thumbprint is all over this.
Yeah, that's a, again, like I love when we're like two and a half, two plus hours into a
show and we get something insightful like this that you bring up Dow with the idea of
like, you know, we knew and it screams
people because it is true it is it is very much on brand in that way um and it's a good point right
like i'm not i wouldn't show this to my co-workers if i was there um like i said i may show it to my
eight-year-old son because he may get a kick out of it my daughter would be like i don't like that
that's disgusting so you're right about that um so it's totally fair but but kind of the punter's
point i guess the pushback would be like yeah i can't share the board ape thing and maybe there's some level of uh cringe
to it for for some people but i can also share doodles and other things right i mean doodle putt
you could take your grandmother or your kid to like it made it very approachable and i think
that's okay so um i think it's a good point and it's fair and i think it's a fair pushback uh
it's similar to kind of Riggs' thought on it.
For me personally, I'm less bothered by it than I even was yesterday
in the sense that, you know, I think that they're doing their own thing
and building their own thing.
I think I've even changed my mind a little bit
or shifted how I'm thinking about it this morning.
Vicky, I'll let you get in here because you share the video.
You are in the video with said butthole.
So feel free to go any direction you want.
Oh, well, I was going to say one thing, which was I love the fact that I did this whole video,
and all I've heard is everyone talk about the monkey butthole, but not about the box, the key, the this, the that.
And I couldn't disagree more.
Very rarely do I get riled up, but there are Jones.
I grew up with Tom and Jerry I grew up with Simpsons
and you know an animal a mouse and a cat whacking an iron over her head and all sorts of things if
you look at now you go oh wow I was brought up on animals hitting each other with broomsticks
poking each other Simpsons has got like the weird cat thing in it where they're you know they put them through like the
blender so it's out there it's always been out there it's just people choose to pick and choose
what they remember and people are picking to choose to remember a monkey's butthole which is
fine you know it works for yoga but there's so many more facets in that video and there's so
much more to come that I couldn't be more bullish. And obviously I do have a knife.
And I'm just super excited.
And a quick shout out to Riggs.
Thank you so much.
I appreciate you for picking up a piece of my art.
Shameless plug.
I love that.
It's good to see Riggs and the Vicky art going on secondary.
Mine went straight to my vault, I believe.
So my Vicky AI art is not going anywhere.
Dow, I'll let you respond.
Yeah, I couldn't agree more.
I'm one of the biggest South Park fans out there.
I actually really like crude content.
I think it's funny.
But I can't help but stress the fact that you're already in a niche market
and you just bring yourself into more of a niche by cutting that audience out.
So like I said, all of the time and Jerry, that was the storyline, was the fight between these two.
I don't know how important this thing will be,
but the fact that, like you said,
that that's taking the cake
as far as what people are talking about.
Is that what they wanted?
We don't know this.
And we're going to have to get used to waiting
and finding out because that is the We New Style.
They do it with 10KTF every Thursday.
So there's going to be a lot of talk
and speculation around this. It's going to bring up some good conversation and my final thought is
are you sure it's the butthole and it's not the key coming out of jimmy's mouth where it comes
back up when he's sick oh that's a i i think it was should have going through his i guess it could
have been going reverse of his intestine but i think think it's probably, but to Dow's point, I think at the end,
I'll stop. I'm not a, I'm not a doctor.
To Dow's point, I will say this. Like, I think that his,
like the probably, my,
my guess based on the number that was typed in and the information rigs
brought to the table and everything else is that this is,
this is the way of them getting this key into the sewer to this box they need to open and there's something to do with that right because it says it links to
a sewer in the other side and the key so i think that that's what this is um and to dow's point
could they have fumbled around with it and gotten it in a different way without it going through
yeah but does it sort of fit the narrative of like to your point like i'm a huge south park's
my favorite cartoon ever a lot of people give me flack because i grew up in the simpsons era but
i like south park better personally i like trey and matt i think they're very clever i think their
social commentary is great and their style just kind of makes me laugh more like i like simpsons
early on and south park took a lot of inspiration we talk about um taking inspiration from other
shows i think south park took a lot of inspiration from Simpsons. They're not a derivative, but they took a lot of inspiration.
So, but yeah, so I'm kind of in the middle on this one and torn,
you know, as we go through it.
And just so you know, and I don't know if Phil's even hearing this,
but Phil, I am trying to get you up.
You have been up a couple times and fallen down,
and I'm hitting the check mark.
So doing my best, Phil.
I don't know if you're getting at it as a speaker or not. It you are, says you're not. So let's see if Phil is, is,
is, is back up yet. Um, Phil, do we have you? I see you as speaker again. I've, I've been getting
the error with you all morning. I'm just checking you here. Phil may not be here. Uh, Eric, I know
you had your hand up earlier as well, and we're getting ready to kind of wind down here pretty
soon, but I do want to see, uh, I saw your your hand go down eric are you still at this place when you can speak yeah yeah i'm here
uh well i was gonna make a very similar point to uh punter gmgm by the way super cool seeing the
collab with ryan carson um there so uh yeah i mean i was just more on punter i mean the first cartoon
i literally saw was red and Stimpy with my dad.
And I think the first cartoon I remember is Stimpy like licking a scab.
And so, you know, I guess also the 90s were a bit different in TV show stuff.
And you had the South Park area, Robot Chicken.
You know, you had Super Jail.
You had these levels of like cartoons that were crazy.
Something literally called Celebrity
Deathmatch, right?
Yeah. Well, even Super Jail
was really
violent and grotesque, and there's always been
that. And then, honestly,
South Park and
Family Guy, they kind of
went a little bit more tamer to that stuff.
And so I thought the video
was highly amusing.
I think when you look at Yuga and their storytelling went a little bit more tamer to that stuff. And so I thought the video was highly amusing. You know,
I think when you look at Yuga and their,
their storytelling background and they're like,
like this all started in a,
a bathroom that you could draw on a wall.
and a dirty bar basically.
And so I think it's right on point for them i think you know
when you look at people coming in from web 2 you know there's the people who watch south park and
there's people who watch the brady bunch right and they probably don't cross over much um and so i
think you know you're gonna you guys probably playing this angle that like, hey, we're going to go after that degenerate
gamer slash, you know, South Park.
You know, they understand the crude humor a little bit more.
And I think, as Punter said, it's good that like, you know, they don't give that up because
let, you know, Dow Jones, there's got a cute little fluffy penguin that makes you feel
safe and, you know, obviously is going to make a great toy.
And, you know, it's probably going to be more like a Dora the Explorer type of content, right?
And you're not going to expect to see a key come out of a monkey's butt on something like that.
So, I don't know.
I find it all humorous.
The video was obviously well done.
Somebody made a point, though, that, like, they definitely changed the artist the artist like or whoever the team was that was doing the first video like the other side video
and then this one because the design looks off it looks like they changed whoever was making it i
don't know if anyone else noticed that as well someone pointed it out i don't know originally
i forgot who it was yeah and um i i think like there's interesting things that you said there
too you mentioned like someone well first of all there's this thing I do with my kids where I'll
say like I this is terrible I'm probably outing myself as a parent but my daughter and my son
will not swear it's something that they're like very like they're very good about it not that I
tell them not to because I actually swear all the time I just think they're words and you know I use
them where it makes sense I don't overuse them.
But sometimes they'll say something.
We mentioned Dora the Explorer.
I'll just like be like, you know, we're going out of the house and I'll be like, in the words of Dora the Explorer, let's go to this fucking restaurant.
And they're just like, daddy, stop or whatever.
Like I always mess around like that.
So it's like funny when you say that.
But like the thing that you said there, which I thought was super interesting about, yeah, some people watch the Brady Bunch.
Some people watch South Park, I think.
And it's not always a crossover.
I would actually argue that there probably is a lot of crossover.
And sometimes people go to South.
It's like the same way that I go to Proof and Moonbirds.
If I want to like under if I want to be in the world of sort of tech and art and sort of that piece.
I go to Bored Ape Yacht Club for things like their concerts that they do.
And I think, to your point, it's almost like changing the channel or the show,
which I think is a really insightful point you made there,
which is like, look, if I flip my channel,
maybe I'm in the mood to watch sports
and maybe I'm in the mood to watch crude humor.
And just like sometimes you're in the mood to watch a rom-com
and sometimes you're in the mood to watch a crude Judd Apatow movie.
It's different.
And I think that that's okay.
Like, you might enjoy a comedy show that's a little bit vulgar sometimes,
and so people can figure out, like, who really wants to fully live in this ecosystem,
who wants to stop by for a little bit.
And I just think it's okay to have both things in here.
So I think it's a good point you made there, Eric, as well,
in responding to Puncher there.
Let's go Dow, and then we'll probably,
we'll see if we can get Phillip one more time.
Go ahead, Dow.
I would just like to know, you know, I don't have a UGA asset.
I have other side deeds, but I didn't have one when they dropped
that original other side trailer.
And I got to imagine a lot of ape holders after that
were screaming like gentle tornado, you know, we're riding baby.
And I just don't know that you're getting that response after this last video in as much of a wave.
So that really, to me, kind of feels the temperature of the room with like how people are actually feeling about the video.
You know, I don't know if anybody was screaming at that last screenshot like gentle tornado like that.
They were so excited. So like, are they regressing from that original other side video?
Yeah, no, I think it's fair.
I think it's something to keep an eye on throughout the day.
I mean, my pushback on that would be
exactly what Ryan said earlier,
which is you look at the reactions
and you go into board eight spaces last night
and there's hundreds of people breaking down frame by frame
what's in there and trying to say,
what are we seeing and how are we seeing it?
right now I have,
Sarah Hodson,
Hodson in my DM,
she's been up here before saying,
having participated in a number of traditional legacy writing rooms,
I wonder if the tail end isn't a euphemism for a prison wallet.
and she said like you know just
mentioned like loads of i wonders today and kind of through the conversation but i think like her
her take is like she's talking about theories and speculations about it i you know we're talking
about theories and speculation so like while it might not be like other side like let's fucking
go like that video right because i think we were all anticipating and excited for that i think this
is still an exciting moment it's just i think a lot of people are putting their their monocles up
with their with their uh detective sherlock home hats right now uh with their big trench coats and
capes and encyclopedia brown coats because they're trying to figure out what's going on in this video
so i think there is still that level of excitement i do think it's different because with other side
yeah we broke down and looked at some stuff but we we're like, we're getting a game. We're getting land. Let's go.
We're building the metaverse. And I think with this, it's more, okay, we have the next several
months to do something which may lead to some sort of massive prizes. I mean, if the treasure hunt
prize was probably a collectively 300 to $400,000 prize, what is this prize going to be now? They've
raised 450 mil cents, you know, like if that prize, and I'm not this prize going to be now that they've raised 450 mil since? You know,
like if that prize, and I'm not saying it has to be or will be, it might just be a game we
participate in. I'm not trying to set unrealistic expectations, but I think there is that, you know,
one thing about Yuga that I've said before is that when they drop mutant serums, I turned to
my wife and I got a normal M1 mutant serum and I got my mutant, but I turned to my wife and I said,
every time Yuga does something like this, there is a chance tonight we will become millionaires, which is wild.
That is a crazy lottery ticket thing to say, but it's only true of Yuga. And so you see something
like this and you're like, okay, I'm seeing a potential to participate in this. I have a friend
who is actually literally a puzzle master by trade, probably the puzzle master of the NFT world.
Maybe I should consult him and we should work together on this thing because
maybe there's a financial opportunity here that could change our lives.
And so that to me is like,
I don't know,
like that's,
that's the cool part about this whole thing.
So I think like,
I get what you're saying,
but I think also similarly with the,
with the code is when they dropped,
it was like,
we knew there were code is being involved in other side land.
I'm like, this other side dropped.
We may get a piece of land that is worth a million dollars.
And that is a crazy thought that only exists with Yuga.
And I'm not saying that's what it's all about.
But that is a unique thing that people still get pumped about.
So, Punter, we'll go to you, and then we'll probably wind down here.
Yeah, I mean, so much great conversation today.
And just like bringing the two communities.
I can't, sorry to harp on it, but I just can't say enough about like bringing the two communities together.
Just to shift off topic, Steve, if you don't mind.
You know, Mr. Benjamin heard me talking about how, and I know Mr. Benjamin from Daily Dose, you know.
Seeing him up here on stage, heard me talking about how, you know,
I'm into brand packaging design. We're in the DMs instantaneously. And we're talking about
setting up a meeting after the holidays because he does similar stuff. So I just want to bring
it home that, you know, I'm so bullish on on Web3 just because of like the human contact that we
make. And the chances like Steve is just talking about how, you know, he's writing this book and he's
got ideas and like the idea generation and the content creation and the way that people are
expanding their mind. I'm so much more bullish on all of that than I am even on NFTs and JPEGs.
And I'm bullish on that to begin with. But anyway, sorry for my rant, but I just wanted to say like,
just everybody continue to show up, continue to make those contacts and and who knows where your life
can go with all that's going on right now and i'll shut up now no punter it's it's a great uh
i think a great thought to almost sort of uh kind of wrap on is that idea that right now we are in this historical time.
Like we had like the ability to DM a founder or somebody doing something crazy in tech right now
has never been more approachable. And I feeling that it's not going to last very long. And to me,
like that's the advantage I'm taking. I mentioned I have issues with work boundaries. And part of
that is, is I see my last couple of years in this space and my next couple of years in this space as a once in a lifetime opportunity to swing the bat, to take my shot, to try.
And, you know, for me, that might mean that the next couple of years suck and I'm taking on a lot of big work and I'm taking on a lot of time.
But it also means that I'm trying to maximize my opportunity to design the world and design my life that I want.
And I think a lot of people out there,
everybody in this room,
every single one of the 323 people listening right now
and the 1,400 or whatever we had in here at one point today
can go out and can potentially do their own thing.
You know, don't quit your job if you need it.
Like, be smart about it, right?
Like, I was doing work in the space. When I wrote the first Harvard Business Review article about NFTs,
I was still working at Nestle. I knew that it could lead to other things, but it wasn't like
I was trying to jump ship just because I wrote this article. I was thoughtful about it. And then
I was able to jump ship into the space. But I just think there's so many opportunities here.
And there's so many people out here that you can create your own world,
whether it's, you know, Mackie.
Mackie's a great example.
Mackie, we've told the story before,
but it's an awesome story.
Mackie sent us a DM like,
hey, do you need any help?
I said, you know what?
We don't have anybody cutting clips.
He's like, I can do that.
He cut us clips.
Next thing you know, we said, can we pay you?
Next thing you know, over the weekend,
he said, hey, I was listening to CZ on Spaces. They was talking to mario do you guys want this for the dgen network handle
we're like yeah can we pay you more um so we did and then we went around recommending mackie to
everyone who would listen we post him in clips and next thing you know he's got he's starting
to turn a career out of it because he gets recommended to other people and i'll go to
mr benjamin here in a second as another example at a punter's point. It's like, Mr. Benjamin, I wasn't, you know,
I knew that the Daily Dose,
I'd seen him tagged a little bit,
but hadn't, you know,
I don't get to go to the Daily Dose as often as I want,
even though I love it or I listen in the background
because, you know, I have to go to work
after our show wraps.
But now it's like, okay, I know Mr. Benjamin.
I know he makes badass PO apps.
Somebody DM'd me and said, hey, who did that PO app?
I immediately said, go to reach out
to Mr. Benjamin. So like these connections and these businesses can happen in this world if you
just find a way to add value or show up and have these conversations. So Punter, I think it's a
really, really good point. And Mr. Benjamin, I'll kick it down to you because I just talked about
you like you weren't standing right next to me. Yeah, no, I appreciate it. No, I just want to
touch on what you and
Punter just said, because not to degrade my own design or anything, but just look what happens
when you put together a simple little pill design and add people in my DMs. I just met like 20
people, people asking me questions, engaging me and Punter, setting up a meeting. It's just,
I freaking love Web3, man. I love it. Yeah, it's just, it's completely, it's just I freaking love web3 man I love it yeah it's just it's it's
completely it's like nothing I've ever experienced before and you know I I said to my wife at one
point like when I was you know again I was I was kicking around I was I was busy it was like you
know I was taking a break at like 9 30 at night and had to get back to it with writing the book
and like working on DGEN and some of the other things I'm working on, which we'll talk about in the next sort of,
in a month or so.
But like that stuff is all keeping me hella busy.
But like I told her, I'm like, I get to do this.
I'm privileged to do this.
I'm able to create a career where I'm doing this.
And that's awesome. So gentle tornado, I'll kick it to you.
And then we'll probably hit this sucker and close it down
so everyone can go walk over
to Ryan's face no man I think this is like the best thing uh that you guys talked about I love
Mackey and I love you know that like if you come in here and you provide value like I am also a
testament to this like the fact that you guys allow me to come up here and get everybody the
energy that I think they need for the day is like something that took 10 plus months to get that kind of like clout in quotes. Right.
But like that type of reputation of doing this,
like being here every single day and just giving and giving and giving.
And now it's opened up opportunities where people are just like willing to
take phone calls with me and give me like in their information that they've
done for years. And so like, just, I can't even beat this down more.
Just give, give, give, and then you ask.
And it's, like, the best freaking thing ever.
The most rewarding, I can't say enough how beautiful fucking Web3 is.
And we keep riding.
The consistency part is so important.
Like, I actually said to my, again, to Mrs. Energy Bark the other day,
to remind me when I'm done, when we're in a couple of years and I'm in a normal life again, where I actually like, you know, maybe work somewhat normal hours or do something, you know, not that I go back to a normal job, but maybe I'm not like pedal to the metal, burning myself out.
And I'm not recommending anybody do this, by the way.
I do it within my comfort zone and I have my boundaries.
I flew back on a red eye from Art Basel.
It may be more tired, but it meant I could go to my daughter's choir concert the next
day. I missed all the good parties on Saturday night. Right. So I have my boundaries, which are
like my kids and my family are non-negotiables, good husband and good father first, then web.
So like, well, my, you know, other things have suffered, like I have my sliding scales, but
I told her when things return to somewhat normal um you know i want to remember
this time and don't want anybody to say that anybody here got lucky or anybody here was an
overnight success or anything like that because even cap cap started this show a little over a
year ago like a year and maybe three weeks ago our first show had like 12 listeners not at the same
time but like in and out and over the course of a year our first year
i believe we made all of five hundred dollars once off one off part of a draft king sponsorship
we did so like a year of two plus hours sometimes we go as long as five or six hours when things
are really pumping like the rider ripped stuff when we had a room bumping and we're talking about
diversity equity and inclusion and had a great stage of diverse people talking about it. And so we were like, we're going to go for five hours today.
We made $500 in our first year.
So I just wanted to be not lost that a $500 USDC deposit to my wallet is all we got.
But what we've been doing and building and working towards is something we continue to work on.
So I'll go to Punter.
Then I do want to wrap because I want to get everybody over to Ryan at 1030 exactly. But But punter, go ahead and get the last word. And then we'll, yeah, no,
I appreciate that. And you know, not to make this a feel good session, you know, because I, but
I mean, because we can't avoid that when gentle's here. I mean, it is a feel good session and we
are fucking riding, right? Sorry to, sorry to swear, but Steve, the, the, the, the part about
consistency, I just want to open up to everybody and say like I was coming to this show every day for like six months or whatever.
And the bear market kicked in.
And I started to get a little bit down and I started to get a little bit lost with what my journey was.
And I wasn't here for a few days and I wasn't here for like a week or whatever.
And then I said – and then I looked at myself in the mirror and I said, wait a minute.
If I want to be a part of this thing, if I want to grow with this community, if I want to really grow as a person, I got to show up.
And I swear to God, I've been here every frigging day since then.
And it's opened up so many doors for me.
And I'm just, I'm just like so grateful to be a part of this family.
And yeah, I'll shut up now.
No, I appreciate the kind words, punter.
With that said, I know Daily daily dose is getting ready to start
appreciate them stopping by this morning ryan and clemente were awesome appreciate the dealer
dosers who not only stuck by stuck stop by this morning but stayed throughout the entire show
y'all are the mvps you're great appreciate everyone who minted that po app 1002 po apps
minted that is bananas so appreciate everybody out there for showing up this morning.
Good topic of the conversation.
Tomorrow, I think we're giving away some Pablos,
courtesy of Punter.
Excited about that.
We'll talk a little bit about that tomorrow,
as well as everything else going on.
Try all the Jimmy the Monkey, Moonbirds,
everything else on the plate.
In the meantime, we will see everybody bright and early
at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Have a wonderful, wonderful day, everybody.
