Music Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I thought you were going to start wrapping on top of the whole music.
I couldn't find the button to turn off the music.
It's like a hundred story building.
We just hit all the buttons. Wait, that's so funny. I didn't realize that's what happened because I was really jamming to the music. Sorry, everybody. We were in the elevator. It just wouldn't stop. It's like a hundred story building. We just hit all the buttons.
Wait, that's so funny. I didn't realize that's what happened because I was really jamming to the music, but I was like, dang, we're here.
It's the layout is really odd too, because once you try and turn off the music or at least do what I thought I needed to do to turn it off, there was an end button, which sounds like end music, but I realized I almost ended the stream and really threw a wrench in our parade. So welcome. The elevator ride is over.
We did it. How is everyone? I was just making sure I got the space posted.
How are you? How are you all? Happy New Year.
How are you? How are you all? Happy New Year.
Yeah, we did it. It feels funny doing this after we did the community year and stream as well.
It's like double stream. Yeah. Getting so much. Yeah, I'm losing my voice again. I don't know.
It just doesn't want to stick around. It's always something with you. I think it's because you don't eat enough meat.
I think it's because I talk too much.
I think it's because I talk too much.
Well, do we have a lot of stuff for December to talk about? It was a holiday.
So, you know, we could talk about what we got from Santa or we could cover
I feel like it should be Ralph's choice.
We were initially supposed to do like a mail-in show where you could talk about stuff because there was a lot in December.
But here we are and there's a lot to talk about.
There's a list somewhere, I'm sure.
I guess I should pull that up
yeah i think we do that every time it's like there's nothing to talk about and then it's
actually like there's a tough stuff to talk about which speaking of do we want to kick it off i'm
happy to start yeah i feel like if we wait too much longer you might just not have any voice
so yeah it's been tough all day um i would happy. Oh, so welcome to the monthly recap, everyone.
We go through what's happened in one month in the Stellar Ecosystem, all the latest,
greatest, biggest news and highlights. The format of the show is myself, Raf and J-Rome. We each go
through one big story from the previous month. So in this monthly recap, we're covering December.
one big story, we provide a longer overview, and then we give a little bit of commentary about that
story. And then after each of us has gone through one big story, we do a round of all the smaller
stories that we want to mention but aren't going to dive all the way into. So my big story for this
past December was Stellar House Miami. This was the third in kind of a
flagship series of Stellar-owned events last year. So the first one being Stellar House in New York
in April, the second, of course, being Marian in October, and the third being Stellar House in
Miami. And what Stellar House does is it brings together people who are kind of leaders across
not just crypto, but kind of fintech and emerging markets in general, which is pretty cool. So we
get to branch out a bit. The cool thing about doing it in Miami is that we did it during Art
Basel. So that meant that there was also a lot of the crowd that kind of surrounds like art and
art markets or music or just creative industry folks in general.
This wound up being a really cool event. It was hosted at actually, it was hosted at this place that was, it came across as a giant gallery. It was actually also doubled as someone's
real home or property that they had turned into an event space, which was amazing. It had a
gorgeous backyard with a dip pool and just incredible art and artwork up
all around. And just like these big wide open spaces for people to sit and hang out, which is
really cool. The format of this particular event, just a one-way event, but it went from, we started
with a brunch hosted by Boys Club, which is really cool. Boys Club is awesome. They're an internet
collective geared towards teaching people how to get into crypto. It was actually a really early join for me.
They have a cheeky name because it's run by women and well, not exclusive to women at all. It's
definitely like very fun and girly content that they make and produce. They're an awesome
media company. So they hosted a brunch to kick us off. And then we had kind of an afternoon of panels and programming and then an evening cocktail party, which was really, really fun.
All hosted at this amazing venue.
So really cool way to highlight a bunch of different ecosystem projects.
We had CrossFit there talking about the Marshall Islands activation, which we'll get into.
We had Red Swan there speaking on how they're tokenizing real estate.
We had discussions with Boys Club on the future of media and marketing. We had Chipped Nails
represented. I love Chipped. They're NFC Chipped Nails that are super easy to use. They tie to a
social profile and are built on chain. I was wearing mine all day and tapping people's phones
to give them my contact information, which was really fun.
It just wound up being like a really great day.
Lots of ecosystem projects there.
Got to talk to a lot of builders.
And a lot of people who maybe weren't as familiar with Stellar got to experience this as an awesome one-day event where they went, they learned, they hung out.
So, Raph, you were there.
Yeah, it was really good. We had some big partners, there. What did you think? RAH FRIEDMANN HILLSKI- Yeah, it was really good.
We had some big partners, too.
I don't know if they're partners or not.
One of them is a partner, but we also
had a wormhole there, which was interesting.
So we've had a couple of events now close with wormhole.
Maybe 2026 means a wormhole integration.
RAH FRIEDMANN HILLSKI- Yeah, who knows?
But yeah, really awesome people. RAH FRIEDMANN H really awesome people and yeah also the pool
if we say like we i don't think i've ever seen a cellar event where people just end up in a pool
it was very miami it was very miami and really really like fun like the pool part just sort of
happened naturally we had people like the outdoor space, like the whole space was amazing. The outdoor space was especially really cool, like just very well set up to
hang out and like form really cool connections with people. And there was a very natural
kind of people getting in the pool element that was not like, it was just very fun.
Um, and it felt so weird.
What's an unnatural way to get in the pool?
I more so meant it didn't feel forced or strange to have people in a pool at an event.
Chad wanted to, Chad from AHA Labs wanted to jump in the pool late at night, but it
was alcohol, so they told him not to do it.
There was people there already for the full plunge.
Stellar House Miami also went viral on Twitter.
I don't know if we're allowed to discuss that, but it was.
Yeah, that actually wasn't at Stellar House Miami. That was at the Pudgy Penguins event.
But yeah, it was the picture, though. The picture in the post was all right.
Enough. We got in the post just from the Pudgy Penguins event. We actually triple confirmed that.
I see Chad in the background. Yes, correct. He was at the Pudgy Penguins event.
They all went over together. I mean, we almost went viral.
But no, actually, that's a good point, Raf, because one of the themes that we just found, we had an awesome presentation from our content team.
So thank you so much to them.
But one of the things that we found throughout the year is that these owned events do really well in terms of online engagement.
And with Stellar House Miami in particular, we just had, like, it really was such a fun event
that there was like lots of chatter online.
There was a little bit of FOMO.
And then the people there, I think,
were really enjoying themselves
and sort of naturally posting the experience,
Like, I feel like we don't, you know,
like we get out into the world,
but we don't necessarily see like a bunch of chatter about it,
but our content team really crushed it this time.
And we saw clear spikes and kind of like engagement and excitement around this stuff, which is
Favorite part, live streamed the whole thing on Twitter.
So you get to see everyone in real time.
So yeah, so that was my big story of the month.
Raph, I'm glad you're there with me.
It was really, really fun event.
There will be more Stellar H houses coming up in 2026 so if it's something that you all are able
to come to i'd highly recommend it it's been fun i was sad to miss that i was sad to miss that so
it was really nice to be in the warm now for a different type of fun protocol 25 we've mentioned
on a couple past shows saying it was coming, but Protocol 25 is now officially on Testnet.
So Protocol 25, codename X-Ray, Stellar's latest network upgrade.
It went live on Testnet on January 7th yesterday.
And the mainnet upgrade vote is scheduled for January 22nd. The big picture here is X-Ray begins laying the groundwork essentially for developers to build what we're calling configurable compliance forward privacy applications using zero knowledge.
So doing all that while not compromising the transparency that pretty much defines Stellar and blockchain in general.
So the name X-Ray we've talked about a little bit, but it was intentional showing the thought there was kind of showing only what needs to be seen, nothing more.
So some key technical additions that are included with Protocol 25.
BN254 elliptic curve, that was from CAP74, I believe.
The most widely used curve in today's Zika ecosystem.
So people coming from Ethereum with AIP 196 and 197 would be familiar with that.
Also some Poseidon stuff from CAP75.
And that's all to do with highly efficient ZK circuits.
So these additions, pretty important.
I mean, people coming over from EVM, it makes it really easy for them to migrate and port their
projects over to stellar so that's pretty important and then enterprise is also the ones using stellar
today they need privacy solutions that's been known for a while and then obviously the ones
coming tomorrow and in the future are going to expect it so this is kind of laying the groundwork
for that so first major milestone in sdf's long-term privacy roadmap that they outlined in Meridian 2025 coming down the line early 2026.
So cool stuff already in the dev docs.
But January 22nd, mark your calendars.
We will have a new protocol release.
Hopefully, as long as validators vote.
Hasn't been an issue in the past, but you never know.
Is getting an x-ray a positive thing
yeah we we could debate on the name for a while but you know when when we're going with
alphabetical and we've done w and then uh kind of uh skip over the next one and then we got to go
with x i mean there's really not many choices so because
xylophone would have been awful but yeah yeah yeah not too cool so does have does have some
meaning there but definitely some thoughts around the name yeah name aside it's privacy is for sure
like the new meta of 2026 although zcash is this morning is having a little bit more trouble with it. But I do feel
like I'm seeing so much chatter about privacy just across the industry. So I'm glad that these tools
are coming live for sure. I feel like Stellar's trying to position itself as a privacy chain
coming up. I feel like there's all these different changes trying to make that happen.
trying to make that happen.
Yeah, it seems to be that
there's just more interest
in actually implementing and adapting
privacy tools. I was super pumped.
I think it was two years ago when the privacy pools
Jay, did you just say this? That there's a cool privacy
pool tutorial on the main blog?
Yeah, there's some stuff in the
dev docs. I'm excited know. Yeah, there's some stuff in the dev docs.
Yeah, I'm excited to see like that kind of stuff come live.
I think that's going to be awesome.
Like those tools I think are really neat.
Yeah, I'm just excited that it seems to be moving fast.
You know, we went from like, not to say it came out of nowhere, the focus on privacy,
but it was kind of abrupt a little bit.
It was because people um one smart
contracts went live it's like what's next and then all of a sudden privacy was mentioned and
then all of a sudden we start getting protocol releases in rapid fashion that started incorporating
these things so it's just been nice to see the the pace of the innovation around zk on stellar
impressive job core team i hope that we do like i hope zk means not privacy, but more gaming on Stellar.
We'll talk about that later.
And talking about ZK, it's totally off-subject.
Can we talk about Smoothie Capital?
Yeah, tell us about Smoothie, Raf.
If you've been blending, maybe you've been smoothying.
How long do you think about that one?
Smoothie.capital is a portfolio management tool for your capital assets. So essentially you just copy your seller wallet,
your public key into your smoothie capital interface,
and it gives you a full breakdown of how you're doing,
projections on your wallet.
It gives you performance by pool per thing,
like average performance over the last like six months.
That's actually probably my favorite feature is that I can go and talk to someone and say,
hey, yes, these yields are really high, but they've been really high for a really long time.
You should go look at Smoothie Capital and understand that this is not a short-lived thing.
So, Smoothie Capital just makes it really easy to visualize borrowing and lending through Blend.
And props to Bruno from the foundation that made this happen.
Yeah, and that's Smoothie.Capital,
if anybody wants to go check that out.
But yeah, it's super, super cool little tool.
And it's amazing that with all the AI tools,
I'm pretty sure this was just kind of like a vibe code weekend project when I saw it posted.
And then obviously he's done some more work on it since then.
But I mean, with the amount of dev tools in the ecosystem now from I think he's using GoldSky as an indexer and backfilled some information off of through BigQuery.
backfilled some information off of through BigQuery.
So I mean, it's kind of like a,
it just shows you what's possible with all the tooling,
dev tooling that exists and with the AI tools
You can put something like this together
I was looking, this is so awesome.
I'm gonna take some screenshots of this
and sit the red and oh my gosh
people lost their money it's like total scam blends of scam guys just like take
the time to learn about it it's so much easier to like understand what's
happening and the opportunities that are there for you yeah but hey I mean good
on people I mean it's not the worst thing that people are skeptical and
start i mean when they're dealing with finances and if they if they default to a i don't like
that until you prove me wrong that it actually is safe um there is there is some positive to that
but it is kind of a an uphill battle when people see the yields and they're like well you know
where's that where's that yield coming from but But you can, you can pretty easily look at the, at the site or the docs and see that
it's just, just yield passing over from borrowers to the lenders themselves.
There's no, no money being created out of thin air, thin air at any point in the protocol.
So we need to like have a, like, like a space where all we do is we justify blend stuff.
I feel like you should understand that it's completely different than Terra Luna.
I feel like there's like take the most common misconceptions and we debug.
Raph, the best thing you've done in today's space is link things that are good to things that are not good over and over consistently.
The number one way to build dress is to be like, we're not like this shitty thing.
We'll just like avoid any kind of bad players in the crypto space in the past but these are like like you come on
you get onto reddit and like they like jump right into concerns versus opportunities and
it's really hard to deal with you know i feel like we're like some work past experiences but
it's really hard to forget the negatives when you're trying to build something new so you know
if you guys have questions and you're wanting to learn, go hop on Reddit, post your questions, come to Discord, ask them. Like,
this is the way. There's so many opportunities on Stellar. And you're just... If you're being
pessimistic, you're overcritical without asking, you're kind of missing those opportunities.
Yeah, for sure. I mean, we all know I'm a big, I'm a big blender.
Barry's in the audience today.
Be happy to do more things around demystifying blend because I think it's awesome.
And the people who built it are great.
Well, now that Ralph dropped the Terra Luna, you know, name in here, you got to take us
back to a positive, positive place, Lindsay.
and turn this thing around. Make it positive. Yes. So it's time for the lightning round.
And I'm going to kick us off with a couple of stories. The first being that the Marshall
Islands in December launched the world's first blockchain-based UBI on Stellar, which is super
cool. They are going to be distributing quarterly payments through a
stablecoin called the USDM1, which is digitally backed dollar. There'll be bonds backed by US
treasuries on Stellar. That's going to over 33 citizens across the remote islands. They're having
really big distribution problems with this program previously. So the Marshall Islands
actually has a fund that was granted to them by the US government after nuclear testing was
unfairly done on the citizens there. So this is part of a reparations program from that fund of
money that gets equally distributed to all the residents of the islands there, which is really,
really cool. Like this is legitimately a government aid backed program, um, reparations that is now being done fully on chain. So that
was really, really, really exciting news to end the year. And like really shows the promise of
what blockchain can do in terms of rebuilding, um, different structures that people rely on.
So awesome, awesome work. Um, shout out to our partners at CrossMint and the
other folks who made that happen. Really cool. Secondly, State Street Investment Management and
Galaxy Digital are partnering to tokenize a private liquidity fund on Stellar. They are
launching Sweep, a tokenized money market fund that is initially starting on Solana and it will immediately expand
to Stellar through Chainlink interoperability integration. The fund lets investors use PYSD,
stablecoin for 24-7 liquidity. And this deal is coming together with Ondo Finance,
who is seeding it with about 200 million. So pretty cool on the institutional side to see that get launched.
Open Zeppelin's Relayer now supports Stellar.
the deprecation of the beloved launch tube
So if you've ever mined Kale through your browser or even with one of the beloved launch tube is on the horizon so if you've ever mined kale through your
browser or even with one of the cpu or gpu miners chances are you've used launch tube however launch
tube was never meant to be production ready so open zeppelin's relayer is so it's not a direct
replacement but it does do most of the same uh same stuff as far as transaction infrastructure
for your project so relayer is now the way to go there.
If you have some Kale miners set up using LaunchTube,
I would definitely suggest jumping into the Kale channel
in Stellar Global Discord
and asking how to get switched over.
The Kale community will help you out.
A bunch of very helpful, very healthy farmers
that are willing to help you out.
So if you're using LaunchTube, time to switch.
Space Time, a new company coming to Stellar
that had a space name beforehand
is live with verified indexing.
What's cool about them is they're bringing ZK databases
to Stellar so you can pretty much onboard the institution with all their assets.
So through ZK very simply.
So very excited to see them and what they're going to be doing throughout the quarter.
They basically had to support Stellar.
I mean, you can't be called space and time and not, you know, support Stellar, right?
Lindsay's asleep. Oh, no i was talking while i was on mute i didn't realize um i yeah anyways
so stellar crossed 1 billion in rwas which is awesome uh end of the year over 1 billion uh
it's yield bearing assets and stable coins and lots more coming in 2026.
And now we got a lot of stuff to do with blends.
So Etherfuse, our buddy Dave at Etherfuse joined the blend party.
So the Etherfuse lending pool is now live.
This is the fifth pool, the fifth V2 pool, I should specify, on Blend. Assets
supported so far are XLM, USDC,
and then their current assortment of
sovereign debt tokens. So you've got your
Who cares about it? They've got a lot more
on the roadmap, so I expect that list to grow
exponentially over the next few months.
So go check out the new Etherfuse pool on Blend.
Did you guys launch Tessero on the Yulblux pool?
There was some being supported by Reflector
And then just haven't gone around to it, I guess.
Yeah, maybe we should do that.
Yeah. And then also on that kind of related note to blend DeFi index announced that they just
crossed 1 million in vaults. So DeFi index is a service that provides the earning strategies,
mostly via blend that power the yield in wallets like beans. It makes it super easy for users to
earn yield and not have to worry about managing a pools which pool do i need to be in um claiming of rewards stuff like
that they also had an integration with sieve cash announced so getting more wallets onboarded over
there great to see them growing and i'm excited to see more advanced strategies get created through
there so right now it's basically
picking which pool, you know, it's going to earn the most yield for you, but seeing some more
advanced strategies get created through there would be pretty cool. And then you mentioned a
little bit earlier, some zero, some ZK gaming. So a little, little note on that. So our beloved
Blend Dizzard, the artist formerly known as blend desert
has rebranded to olos like zero loss get it uh since that is the entire concept the blend in
the previous name was kind of not really warranted the concept was zero loss lotteries so um we're
working towards some really cool stuff later this month with a loss to get a bunch of games created. So definitely one you're going to hear about more in the coming weeks,
definitely on the next show,
there will probably be a lot going on there.
So you can check it out now at O loss.com.
No longer a blend desert dot,
I think that should become a trivia question later.
what was the original name of O-Loss?
My tribe, what is it called
you know tribe your your group of people that you play with yeah uh faction faction that's right
yeah you group group yeah you pick a faction to join and then play your games so there's just one
game still still just one game like blend dessert, the number picker.
But that was literally just like Tyler's proof of concept game.
So the goal is that people can integrate their games.
And he's also going to have a split of the earnings for the developers.
So when you if you're a developer and you create a game to integrate with, then you can get a share of the profits.
then you can get a share of the profits.
So Tyler's always got something cooking.
So Tyler's always got something cooking.
And like I said, we're working towards some stuff
towards the end of the month
to really ramp up the amount of games on there.
So if you want to get a head start
and try and figure it out a little bit,
see what's going on and how it works
you can check out oloss.com.
but if you want to go on a quest,
there's a new set of Galaxy quests.
A bunch of quests for Allbridge.
So they're rewarding people to bring their money into Stellar.
I mean, there's a 10K reward pool that you can dip into,
get your share of and then at the same time
getting this pair of 10k rewards you're going to learn which wallet to use on seller and how to get started which decks you can use and also how to turn up to 17 apy on stable coins by doing these
quests so go check them out it's a good way to get encouraged to use
what's still there our girl g has been absolutely cooking in the lab some more no longer do you need
to bust out some google foo to try and find a way to get some usdc or urc on testnet because now it
is integrated directly into the fund account page in the lab.
Even though this exists, I still suggest creating your own test tokens in most every case,
but this does make it easier if you need quote unquote official test assets. If you haven't used
the lab in a while, you definitely need to go check it out. It has a lot of cool new features.
This just being one of them, there's many other new features that uh
g has integrated whether you're trying to inspect a smart contract function uh simulated transaction
build transactions i mean you can do pretty much everything in the lab so uh definitely go check
that out lab.stellar.org sounds like you've been playing with the lab lately. I love the lab. I have been in the lab.
Some smaller ecosystem news.
SkyHits launched a new community curations feature.
It allows anyone to upload their own music.
Curators review the quality and read the tracks.
Approved tracks get minted on chains instantly.
Verified artists can also upload their music with non-deleteable equity.
So lots of cool ways of actually getting content onto Skyhits,
which is a web3 music platform on Stellar.
Gaming-wise, CyberBrawl has announced pre-registristers are live for Android, and Fred has hinted that there's early access
perks for those that pre-register.
So go check out the CyberBrawl Twitter and find the Play invite.
Wombat Exchange has integrated Stellar, and they've launched with a new stable pool for uscc zed usd uscc yeah sorry zed usd
zed usd uh go check them out uh the more they get used the probably the more pools that they're all
launched and euro bank deposits are now free on beans beans has also been hinting at some cool
new features that are supposed to change the game.
Been following their Twitter.
Looking forward to see what's coming up.
And Overcat released a new version of Trezor Desktop for Stellar.
So Trezor Desktop is now fully supported.
Overcat, our unsung hero.
One of the many. Doesn't get enough credit no shout out to overcat
one day one day um one other thing that we can end on and know not about skipping it but
if you missed it right before the break we did do a video live stream with lots and lots of
members of the community would highly recommend going back and watching that it was a lot of fun for us and if you'd like to see more of those and or be
featured on those please let us know please reach out um i i genuinely had a lot of fun doing that
so huge shout out to our comms team for putting that together it was great my favorite moment of
that whole live stream was when dixie and Rice were doing that guessing game, and then
I feel like she had a bum, and she was like, hey, he doesn't know that's me, but that's
And it was like a cool little secret moment.
Well, did you notice the Easter egg that I put up, Justin Rice's album cover from his
Yeah, if you guys don't know, J. Rice had a band, and they're really good. Easter egg that I put up Justin Rice's album cover from his band. Yeah.
Jay Rice had a band and they're really good.
And they're going on tour again.
Jay Rice is going on tour or is he skipping out?
So it's like the Northeast.
So yeah. The end of your live stream was a lot of fun.
Really cool. Like little interviews and stuff. So that is on the main stellar org channel. Go back and watch it.
And with that, we are only four minutes over.
That's not bad since you took, I think 10 minutes for the just chatting in the beginning
about stellar house, Miami. So you took a third of our time and we still got done.
So you were the big talker this time, not me.
Nanny, nanny, nanny, boo-boo.
Do you want to do the upcoming events?
Whichever, I can start us off.
There's a couple of events in Lattano that are coming.
Stellar Coffee Break today in Tomoko, Chile on January 9th, which is Friday?
So if you are in Chile listening right now, go have coffee and chat about Stellar.
And then the other LaTown one that's coming up big time is there is a five week boot camp with bath that's getting ready for the give hackathon
in march in columbia i believe this one is an online event but you can head over through
twitter and they have a registration link for this so if you are in latin and you want to maybe in
the future head off to columbia for a hackathon this is your
way to to get known um do you guys want to talk about india sure i'm happy to grab that one
ryzen is hosting a stellar build-a-thon in kolkata that is on january 24th there's been so much hype
and really really cool videos that we're trying to keep up with from the Stellar India team. So I highly recommend giving them a follow on Twitter.
Looks like that's going to be a really fun event. So shout out to Stellar India and Rise In.
And there's also that singularity residency. Oh, yes. Again, like you were talking about,
like they've been really active on it. And like they're posting pictures of where it is
in Goa. Or is that how you say it goa it looks
unreal it looks super cool i feel like the costa rican crew is going to see someone organizing
something and go and be like we need to organize something ourselves because that's like a beach
competition right there yes and that is a residency i actually don't know how long that is lasting for
either um that is a single day event as well oh no it's a five
day sorry that's a five-day residency program which is awesome it looks like registration for
that is currently closed but like i i truly recommend keeping up with their content online
like it i think it's going to be so fun and they're they're doing an awesome job like creating
hype around it and stuff so that begins on january 27th an eye out on socials just to get a little FOMO from it.
I think that's all we have.
Well, we'll be back at the end of this month with everything that happened in January.
Going to be another good year.
See you later, Alligators.
I was just going to let it be silent for a while.
See if we can make it awkward instead of cutting off.
But yeah, I know we always mention this,
but yeah, if anyone has anything
that they find going on in the ecosystem
that they think we should know about,
feel free to send any of us DMs.
DMs are always open for all of us. If you see anything going on, you think we should know about feel free to send any of us DMs. DMs are always open for all of us.
If you see anything going on,
and we do still want to do a mailbag type episode.
Maybe we'll do one of these months and we spend the first half covering the
news and the second half doing a mailbag type thing,
but we need mail in order to do that.
So feel free to shoot us over whatever you have and we'll,
we'll try and work it into one of these shows
coming up in the near future.
But yeah, thanks for joining.
I'm glad we got done on somewhat decent time
and we'll see you on the next one.
