Yesterday was actually
a holiday in Portugal.

What I love about
Portuguese holidays

And what I've realized
since coming to Portugal

So it's pretty incredible
how they do holidays here.

which is why I was out.
It looked like we hit
about 56k yesterday.
Everyone getting pretty depressed.
It felt like...
We recovered slightly.
I think we rallied back
to around 59k
and now we're hanging out at 58k.
Bitcoin hit a death cross,
they call it,
on the weekly,
which is why a lot of
technical traders
are suddenly saying
we're going to like zero.
But that has a very mixed response
about what actually happens.
It can be the start of the trend.
It can be absolutely nothing.
Solana is back at 140.
Beef is hanging out
just below 2,600.
Solana's underperformance
slightly came to an end.
It feels like they're all
kind of tracking each other
lower at the moment.
Bitcoin may be slightly
outperforming.
Meme coins continuing
to bleed really,
particularly the major ones.
It feels very PVP
out there at the moment.
And yeah,
I think GIGO is the only
meme coin in like the top 50,
which is higher today.
So definitely feels like
memes are being hurt slightly.
What we are seeing is
DeFi come back a little bit.
So if you've been looking
in the last week,
all the major DeFi coins
are higher.
Partly this is due
with the fee switch.
And partly this is actually
just to do with more
going on in DeFi.
Suddenly DeFi,
number of loans has hit,
or number of borrowers
at least has hit
an all-time high
on things like Aave.
and you start to see
TVL start to track
closer up towards
the levels that we saw
in like 2021-22 areas.
So DeFi is seemingly
where people are
degening a little bit
more at the moment,
but in general,
it feels like the timeline
doesn't want to buy
into those stories
like crazily either.
So I think people
are just getting
a little bit depressed.
That's the general
sense of it.
In macro,
we had another
strong day that yesterday.
It's going to be
actually one of the
strongest week.
I think it's going to be
the strongest week
for stocks in nine months.
So yeah,
like we had a really
big rebound.
The NASDAQ
is basically,
well,
recovered a lot of
those recent losses.
That was after
retail sales
came in relatively strong,
which was another
indicator
after the jobless figures
slightly earlier in the week
that we're not heading
to a hard landing
and that was enough
to get everyone
bulled up.
But the moment
macro started rallying,
weirdly,
crypto started selling off
and that kind of
freaks people out
a little bit,
I think.
So what's going on?
Is it over?
Are we going to 25k next?
It's never over.
It's never over.
It's just one of these chops.
That's what I think.

this week
was pretty good.
It was good for risk assets.
You had
inflation,
both PPI
and CPI
come in below
expectations
on the headline numbers.
You had retail sales
have a huge beat
versus expectations.
So what does that tell you?
It tells you
inflation is still
trending lower
but it tells you
the US economy
remains very strong
which increases
the probability
of a soft landing
which is that
the Fed was able
to get down
inflation
without significantly
harming
the economy
sending it
into a recession.
So for risk assets
the data this week
is extremely
extremely good
and we've seen
it play through
in stocks
as Michael said
stocks have had
one of the best
weeks they've had
in a while
interest rates
are a lot lower.
Risk is rallying
in trap markets.
It's just
crypto that seems
to yet again
be stuck in the mud
and significantly
underperforming
traditional markets
and again
I feel like
it's technical things
you know
it's like
people are talking
about the US
government Bitcoin
again
the Mt. Gots
distributions
we've had all
the jump selling
of ETH
there's just
all these
technical
sell pressures
on crypto
and not only
just ETH
but also Bitcoin
and probably
FCX estate stuff
and other things
like Solana
etc.
There's just tons
of sell pressure
right now
on crypto
and it seems
like we haven't
still had
the retail influx
and we've had
some ETF infos
but it hasn't
been as huge
and as persistent
as we would have
hoped
and because
some tech stocks
have done so well
this year
stuff like NVIDIA
and the whole AI bubble
people haven't felt
the need to
move
or switch to crypto
to chase those
like extra returns
and that's just
where we are right now
and I don't know
I feel like crypto
can continue to
underperform
TradFi for a bit here
it's like what's the
big positive
casters for crypto
other than like
Trump winning
and obviously Trump
has now fallen
massively behind
in the elections
and even if he did win
we don't know
you know
what things he's
actually able to implement
and how soon
he's able to implement them
so it's almost
like the landscape
of crypto
having been like
so bullish
it's just like
being flipped on its head
once again
because of these
technical sell pressures
and also because
the politics
has gone
in the wrong direction
that we wanted
to see
for crypto
but you know
like when everything
feels shit
and everything feels bad
that's the time
you're supposed to be buying
and I think if
what you have to remember
now is we're going
to go through
month after month
after month
of rate cuts
because
the Fed base rates
right now
is at 525
to 550 basis points
that's like
a ton of rate cuts
that the Fed
is able to do
over the next
year or two
if they need to
we're in rate cut season
now we will be
from next month
and that does change
the way the market behaves
and the market reacts
and the psychology
of the market
so there's a hope there

we get crypto
going again

we just haven't had
that spillover
from TradFi
to crypto
just because
so much of TradFi
has actually done well
this year
and outperformed
