All right, let's get started.
This is Tim again.
For those who are joining for the first time here today, I am the host as well as head
of social here at KuCoin.
And we have Mohit, who is the strategy lead at Avail with us.
And we'll be deep diving into Avail, what it's doing at the project, what problems it solves
and everything more about its token as well as future plans.
So thanks, everyone, again.
And why don't we just get started with a high-level introduction to your background?
Hey, guys.
This is Naruto.
I work as a senior at Avail.
And I think we have our speaker, Anurag, coming in in two minutes.
So if we can give like two minutes for them to come back.
Okay, no worries.
Yes, for sure.
Sorry, who is coming on to speak?
Anurag, he's the co-founder.
Okay, perfect.
Just please ask him to request a speak and I'll get him up.
Yes, that's great.
Okay, I just got the news.
He is just coming up in a minute.
He was stuck in another meeting, but he's coming.
Thanks for waiting, guys.
Thanks for joining our space here.
Let's just get started because we're a little behind time.
Perhaps you can start with just an introduction to your background and why you decided to found Avail.
Yeah, slightly sorry in joining a few minutes late.
I'm Anurag, co-founder of Avail.
Been in the crypto space for seven years now.
Previously founded Polygon.
Before that, I spent about 11 years in fintech and regulatory technology.
Spent the last six, seven years building out a lot of the Polygon stack, including the Polygon POS, Polygon Plasma.
A lot of the bridging infra, also involved in acquiring firms like Hermes, Zero, Maidan, and so on.
And also actually started Avail within Polygon in late 2020.
And we spun out Avail from Polygon last year in March.
And I left all operational roles at Polygon last year and focusing on Avail full time from then.
Avail, yeah, so I mean, Avail just launched a few days back and here we are.
I'm happy to speak more about Avail further.
Yeah, so thanks for that introduction, for your own background.
But can you also just introduce Avail as well?
What inspired the creation of it as well as what problems it aims to solve?
Of course, so Avail, to understand Avail, like what really Avail is, Avail is really, you can think of this as infrastructure for the role-of-centric future.
So what does that mean?
Essentially, Avail builds a set of components, one of the first that we launched on Tuesday is a state-of-the-art data availability layer,
which implements data-ability sampling with validity proofs.
Avail is the only project that implements this with data-ability sampling with validity proofs.
And the technology is slightly similar to what Ethereum wants to implement on its Dankshading roadmap.
But we don't stop there, we also build something called Avail Nexus and Avail Fusion on top, which provides roll-up interoperability.
Essentially, what we really want to build is a more unified roll-up and blockchain ecosystem by connecting all these chains together using both Avail DA and Avail Nexus.
To give more context around why we started Avail in the first place is Avail was started in late 2020.
This was around the time that Ethereum started on the roll-up-centric roadmap.
And so, I think a lot of the people at that time didn't really appreciate that.
But essentially, if you see the history of blockchains, the first blockchain came out in 2008 in the form of Bitcoin.
And Ethereum was the first general-purpose blockchain in 2014.
But after that, all the iterations that came after Ethereum were slightly variations of what Ethereum could have been.
