Thank you. so gmgm i'm going to attempt something here i done the, the music other than when it just first starts up like that.
I'm going to see if I can put it back on.
I'm in like,
I don't know,
five seconds here.
Flash a hundred.
If you can hear,
if you can hear the,
if you can hear the background music,
I'm looking here.
Host or insurance.
You can't change these settings.
Yeah. Any, um, can hear hosts are in charge of code changing settings.
Yeah, any Yeah, we played around, we failed to say no worries uh i was gonna see if i get the music
back on but yeah not uh not working i should probably know how to do this by now it's like a
feature that you would think would be relatively easy to operate like background music just makes
sense now everyone has a soundboard but yeah it's uh it auto plays when you start the show and now
like there's still a music button but you click it and the only options are you can select journey
vibes jazzy or nostalgia and then auto play when the spaces start or you can turn you turn off
auto play i'm actually gonna turn it off i've
never done that but there's no way to just fire it up now so anyways gm gm thanks so much for
tuning in give us a like retweet up top hit the bookmark the space is pinned up top if you haven't
yet done so already smash the reminders for the shows the rest of the week number 800 coming up
tomorrow would love to have a full house for Steve's return on the day after Christmas.
Going to be a super short and sweet show today.
Just wanted to jump on.
Most importantly,
wish everyone Merry Christmas,
Happy Hanukkah,
Happy Holidays,
whatever you celebrate.
If you celebrate,
I hope you're out there enjoying time with your friends and family.
If you're not celebrating anything today,
hopefully you're able to enjoy some time with friend and family regardless. But if anyone anyone has anything on your mind drop it in the chat feel free to come up open
stage we'll probably hang out for maybe i don't know half hour or so might not even run that long
maybe we get into something hot we run a little bit long but i actually did not um did not properly
charge my phone last night and i'm at like 35 so we we will, uh, we won't go any longer than that. If
the phone starts to die, we will, we will call it a day, but first congrats of the day. Maybe
we'll do this a little wind of the week, anything you're celebrating this week, anything you're
looking forward to this week, or even the new year, if you've got any, if you're, you know,
a lot of people will do their new year's resolutions. I'm not a big resolutioner,
but I do greatly enjoy the last week of the year.
Kind of a good opportunity to reset and plan for the upcoming year.
And it's typically a very productive week for me.
I grew up in 20-plus years in retail, running retail organizations.
And holidays were always very busy, as was the week after christmas
week after christmas is most retailers their busiest week of the year outside of like you
know the week escaping black riding and whatnot but um since i've been out of retail it's this
this week has been kind of a uh you know in the corporate world for a few years and it's like
everyone's out so there's nothing going on.
It's been a great opportunity to kind of prep my personal goals, what I'm looking forward to the following year.
And as I left the corporate life for good this past spring, this last week of the year hits a little different.
But congrats to Clay. Booked his first four-figure meme coin win, bought a DGEN pass. Welcome. Great to have you in the war room. I'll pin that up top here in a second if anyone's looking for the official collection for our DGEN pass.
so not a uh out of the trenches for a day and didn't really see seemed like kind of a quieter
day uh in the world of web 3 if i missed anything anything caught your eye uh feel free to drop that
in the chat down below or throw a request to come up and share on stage i will say the poll um
i i think i i had a uh a quote tweet drafted i did not send i'll put it up top yet if you if you
didn't see this poll yesterday i haven't voted There's like an hour left on it. What mean would you grip gift to
a friend or family member for Christmas? Uh, the four options were unicorn fart dust, ping goof,
chill guy, and fork coin. Uh, if other drop in the comments, uh, kind of floored, um, by the,
the results of this pool. I won't spoil it for anyone hasn't checked it out, but,
uh, uh, I'll, uh, I'll quote tweet this out, pin it up top. And yeah, if you haven't, uh,
uh, if you haven't voted yet, get your, get your vote in there, but yeah, actually floored by, uh,
the, the current, uh, the current pool results, probably not going to change a whole lot with the
final hour, but, uh, you know, shocking for me, I, I, excuse me, I expected it to be a
little more, um, I expected it to be a little more across the board, not necessarily so, uh,
such a runaway winner, but, uh, I, I guess probably a little bias baked into my following
with the larger, uh or NFT contingency.
But nevertheless, still somewhat surprised to see such a runaway winner
in terms of what meme everyone's gifting to their friend or family.
Agent GM, welcome to the stage.
I don't think I have to ask you.
I'm pretty sure I know which meme you would gift to your family.
But GM, is my assumption correct?
And what brought you up today?
I'm actually... GM, GM, GM, thank you, Cap, for having me up. I'm actually mixing a little bit
of Pengu and some Unicorn Fart Dust as some gifts for today. And maybe a little ape chain NFTs.
Please don't sleep on those. If you guys, I don't have an ape.
I don't have a Bored Ape Yacht Club.
I've been watching the club,
obviously, for a while,
but I've been supporting Ape Chain NFTs,
and I don't know
if you've been watching,
Gorgan, what he's been tweeting.
He went on a little holiday sweep, too.
Don't sleep on Ape Chain, please.
I've been down in the trenches.
They're actually doing
trenches spaces starting very soon with the Gs. Supporting that, of course. But I want to say
one thing. I'm thankful for one thing this year. UCAP, what you're doing here. I've been loving
this. This is what motivated me to be a little bit more active in spaces,
more active in communities. I'm going to be a little bit more active, obviously, in abstract
communities, but also Ape Chain. I'm not going to give that up either. I'm not taking anything out.
I'm just invested in this. That's a lot because of what I've come here in the mornings.
Sometimes eight for me.
We don't do daylight same time.
So it's sometimes eight, sometimes nine for me.
And I'm thankful for you guys and what you're doing.
And it inspired me to like kind of do the same and put my part in.
Thanks, man.
Awesome, man.
No, I love it.
Great to hear.
Appreciate you.
Appreciate the support.
And yeah, don't sleep on Ape Chain. I did see Gordon's shopping spree there and a lot of excitement, a lot of activity. And I think that team has some more things planned as they head into the new year.
Yes, NFTs have seen a surge and a lot of people believe it is token driven.
I don't disagree, but I also starting to feel like the spidey sense is going off that we're actually there's actually real, genuine, authentic excitement building around NFTs again.
Newer NFTs.
And I was not expecting this, this cycle, to be very candid. I expected the rotations back into some of the blue chips from last cycle. Wasn't expecting a lot of new stuff. But between what you just mentioned, the stuff popping off on Ape Chain, I've seen a lot of excitement already on launches prepping for abstract launch.
And I did not view the L2 wars like a catalyst to drive another nft season
but it certainly seems like we're we're on that way would you agree agent
um yeah completely i don't know if you guys have been watching abstract like they pre-launched uh
the genesis rings i actually had pre-ment for that uh on chain heroes so i i did see it but i
haven't i didn't pay attention how are they doing it like are they are they minting on like mainnet and then played a bridge later like how explain like
when they when they're doing these pre-launches what exactly are you minting or what are you
minting on i think each each chain is playing differently i each project i'm sorry is playing
it differently because on-chain heroes they launched on uh they launched their genesis ring
i believe it was i actually was on whitelist i did
not expect the hype and i literally missed it by 30 seconds like the mint it minted out very quick
and it shot up from 0.2 mint uh on eth to like i think the floor right now is like three point
something if i'm not mistaken so like you could i mean if you just put like you could be in the
club like how i've wanted i'm chasing kind of the club for, like, a little while now.
I would be in if I got that mint because I could have probably flipped that into that.
Obviously, I'm very bullish on what's happening on abstract, so maybe I would have made that trade.
But, like, I don't know if you've seen, like, what Kabu is doing.
Kabu's upcoming project on abstract.
I think their mint was on base.
I was on the presaleale so it's very interesting
what they're doing they're like minting um not on abstract because it's not obviously live yet
um but they're taking like pre-sales um i actually got a little late on um the what is i forgot the
name um ruy ruy i believe it's pronounced i'm in like i was in that community a little bit
but i didn't know they had a discord and they have already also done pre-sales for that um so it's
it's kind of interesting how they're like getting people excited and on board before the main net's
even going strong and if you jump in those discourse like they're very active much more
active than i'm seeing a little bit on ape chain that i'm i'm also bullish on too because um i wouldn't sleep on like what's
going to happen with ape express i know that's going to be on the spotlight uh i'm sure thank
ape might like also fall into that in some way like i'm i'm very bullish on both like without
even talking about like you know what's going to with the Zuki and doodles and stuff like that. It's very interesting.
And I think there might be a little mix with the stuff you've mentioned before, excitement
with AI agents.
They're already talking about that in Ape Chain.
It's very exciting times.
Very bullish for 2025.
I just hope, you know, the Trump administration responds like they've
promised to respond.
Yeah, I think, I mean, you
brought up something good I want to circle back to in passing there.
You mentioned you've got your eyes on the club
and you're
looking to pick up a mutant
or, regardless of whether
it's a mutant, a little, an Azuki,
a doodle, if you've got
your eyes on some of these blue chip assets,
there's going to be a lot of, I feel, volatility
as we lead up to token drops, as we distance from those.
And yeah, you could reach,
you could chase something after it's pumped,
or you could be like agent and be patient, pay attention.
And he missed a mint that went from, you know,
0.1 or 0.2 to three plus ETH. Instead of chasing that and thinking it's going to go to 10 ETH,
and that works for some people, wait for the next one. And that's the thing, I wasn't expecting
this, but we've already seen several, you know, cooks that have went from like mint price to multiple ETH in, in, in a day or two.
And that's the sort of stuff where the, the excitement, the interest is there.
And you, if you're paying attention sooner or later, you're going to find yourself in
a position, okay, I secured this allow list.
Am I going to mint or not?
Well, if you see it, the, the allow list starts minting and you see these things start popping
off and the floor is lava and they're selling for you know 10x premium take your mint and then
either either you're right now or you strategically sell into one of those pumps
and and you hit a you book a few of those wins you know you you find yourself easily picking up a mutant or a pudgy or a freaking crypto punk like
it's just this the the AI uh AI these recent mints that have absolutely ripped up this was
happening nearly every day in the last bowl and you missed a lot but it was okay because you knew the other one and we're not
quite back into that full full mania mode but man it sure does feel like things are heating up and
you mentioned the new administration we flip into the new year i it's far exceeded my expectations
in terms of excitement interest activity volume around new mints. I was expecting like really almost no new mints
on the NFT side to be a part of this cycle.
I was wrong.
Like it's not only is it, are we going to see it?
It's actually increased my conviction
in some of these blue tip assets.
You know, I still hold and still bullish
on some of these teams from last cycle
because we're seeing the new excitement. I think that bodes very well for a lot of the legacy
brands as well but i see we got a couple hands here i want to get our guests in and like i said
shorter show today so by all means if anyone wants to join the conversation throw us a request
we'd love to have you up on stage join the conversation in the chat if you haven't
give us some love on the space
above and uh we greatly appreciate let's go drew and then we'll get down here drew
oh i'm glad you you called on me chris i could we're on our way to church so i wanted to i
didn't want to drop off and not say merry christmas and i didn't plan on getting on but
when i saw it was the 800th episode i was like i, I just have to be part of it. I got to be on there.
So I want to wish you Merry Christmas.
799 a day.
We couldn't break the streak.
800 is tomorrow.
So we got to get you back to back days, Drew.
Well, I'll be on tomorrow then.
I just literally, but I didn't want to then be on and then off without saying, you know, good morning and Merry Christmas.
So my wife is driving.
We're headed to mass.
And that was really all I had, man. I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas
and say how stoked I am that you, you guys keep sticking with it.
Well, Merry Christmas to you and yours. Appreciate you jumping up and appreciate you,
your, your missus there and let her, if she's listening to the foreign speaker, let her know
how great we grateful we are for you and all that you do for this space and Steve and myself.
You're one of the great ones.
And I am, you know, not to get all sentimental on a space on a Christmas morning, but it really is all of you, the people tuning in on a Christmas morning, the people, you know, sharing the comments in the chat.
Like, this is what I love about Web3.
Yeah, I'm a tech nerd.
I've been in tech my entire life.
I've been on the leading edge of tech most of my life. And nothing has come close to
the love I have for this space because the people are just absolutely incredible from
the widest range of backgrounds, of ages. It doesn't matter. This common love for this space
is something that's pretty special.
And it's times like this throughout the year
that really reminds me how grateful I am to be here
and how much I appreciate each and every one of you.
So yeah, thanks for the kind words.
Appreciate you jumping up today and enjoy that mass.
Dow Jones, GM, sir.
Happy holidays to you.
GM, GM, Merry Christmas.
I just threw my hand up because you're going on
about how we're going to see a lot of new mints. This is about when I got into crypto in about 2020, this point in the cycle. So I just wanted to throw a PSA out there. I was cleaning out my discord. I minted so much absolute nonsense and garbage and stuff last time. I just want to throw the PSA out there to be a little bit more judicious this time. I got wallets full of nothing but trash and one penguin so just a little psa
double think before you double click it's a great psa and i did the same i have
multiple thousand nfts there's probably a dozen that i really care about maybe not even actually
and then i probably i could probably count zero two cap i mean i can't tell you how many discords
were really good in 2021.
And then I scrolled through them yesterday and there's the same six people GMing each other in there.
So, you know, community isn't going to outlast the dead project.
Bingo. So that's my approach to this cycle.
I'm in and out and I'm not like I'm not looking.
I'm not trying to dump on my friends. I'm not I'm not trying to, you know, be a extractor because I won't like my,
my gains in this space mostly stay in this space. You know, I was, you know, I do this for a living
now. So like our, you know, our, our sponsor deals and stuff that, that pays the bills,
but my trading gains, my, my trading gains are, I will parlay into other, whether it's
My trading gains are, I will parlay into other, whether it's coins or tokens, things that I'm very long on, communities, assets I'm very long on.
And last cycle, it was easy to see the excitement, believe the excitement.
It was, you wanted to root for these teams.
Everyone was talking, what's the next, at the was talking what's the next at the time what's the
next board apes and it was pretty likely we were going to see a next board apes but we weren't
going to see or or something that was going to capture the attention like they did but it was
extremely unlikely that we're going to see hundreds of them and when i say you we had these
opportunities on a daily basis i mean if you mitted something for 0.1 and it ripped up to 2 ETH, it was easy to convince yourself that, holy shit, this is the next Bored Apes.
But if you were here then, you realized that Bored Apes didn't rip up to 2 ETH overnight.
They didn't mint out instantly.
It took them weeks to mint out.
And then when they did that Saturday, April 30th, May 1st, they meant it out. Then the pandemonium hit.
But even then, like, I think Steve joined a couple of weeks later and he picked up his
eight for like 0.3. Like it was a big, big, big, big deal. It was one of the most
memorable moments. A core memory from last cycle was the war on the floor. That was about apes breaking one ETH.
Was a major deal.
And that was, I feel, months into, you know,
after they came out.
Maybe it wasn't months.
It wasn't instantly, that's for sure.
And, but after that happened, there was this,
the collective space was on a massive chase
for the next one.
Don't try to chase the next one.
Look for something that
you're excited about, whether it's the tech, the team, what are they doing beyond the mint?
And in some of those, maybe you do find a winner that sticks around for the duration of the cycle
and next one. But to Dow's point, the statistics, the majority of them, and this isn't just Web3,
this is life. 95% of businesses don't make it five years,
period. It's not going to be any different in web three, just because they're building on chain.
Most of them are still going to fail. And the difference is if your local coffee shop that opens up and they got a business in a few years, you're not out anything, you know, other than
maybe you got to find a new coffee shop here. You could be out thousands of dollars that, that it's a Dallas point.
Like there's,
you don't need to overextend yourself to find community.
we have our,
our DG network,
our war room.
it's our web three home for many of us.
it is gated.
We have the community asset.
We gate it last cycle.
You don't need to join the DG network war room.
You don't need to join the dj network war room you don't
need to join the discord to be part of our community if you're here every day you're part
of our community you're you're your friends your family and you don't need to spend any money now
if you want to deepen that relationship and and maybe there's some perks and allow us or something
sure join us but there's never any pressure and it's not a i would never want anyone to join
with thinking oh i'm gonna buy a couple of these passes because this thing's going to rip up to one ETH.
It's not like we're not that if it does, it's by accident.
Like we are not attempting to pump the floor price whatsoever because we don't want, it's
just not what we're trying to build.
We're not trying to build something that's hype and fizzles out.
I think the reason that DGN is still here is we didn't do that.
It truly was a home where we all hung out every day last cycle with
no financial incentive. Even after we gated it, it said it was because the community asked us
because we were getting some spam bots and it was making it a lot less harder to get and stuff. So
we gated it per the community's request. And it's never once been, okay, this is our 10Xer.
This is a home. And there's a lot of those homes in this space
some you can get in for 0.1 some might cost you 30 40 east a lot let me here's what i i can't
speak i can't drive home enough the crossover in this space is absolutely real. Like, just, I mean, Dow, you're in there.
Would you say, I think just by way of the war room,
we have indirect access to almost every major community in Web3.
Is that fair?
Yeah, definitely.
In your upper echelons, you have someone who's pretty dialed in,
you know, pretty much every, I guess you'd call front-running NFT community
and people who are actually dialed into the news and trying to report it as fast as they can. We share posts
faster than other people because obviously my feed's a lot more pudgy than yours, right? So
if I see something come over the pudgy feed, it goes right in the war room.
Yeah, man, I love it. And that's where i still as i try to think through this cycle
discord was it was not even close like it was the home or that's where the homes the home bases
were last cycle now many have launched their telegrams i i don't think we've found our final
form yet to what be like in some cases for the ones that were around in 2021
i i don't like i think discord will always be one of the homes but for these new web3 native
brands launching now i i don't know if they'll even launch a discord and i all but at the same
time i also don't know as if telegram is is the best place for a home now it's probably not what you're gonna you raise your hand for but i'm curious your thoughts on like discord
versus telegram versus other for a home base and then whatever else you wanted to chime in on
yeah i mean i'm one of the people who loves discord i think it's super organized i love
that you can just search anything look anything i like the new notifications tab i'm a big discord
fan obviously during the board the bear, everybody moved to Telegram for
shitcoining and stuff like that. I have not joined the train because the Pudgy Penguin Discord
Telegram, excuse me, is token gated, and I refuse to connect my wallet to any more things. So I stay
out of the Telegram, but I'm with you. I think that that's where the kids play. That's where
the shitcoiners are. So that's where they continue to keep the volume. But why I raised my hand was
we're talking about how new mints are going to
come there'll be new winners blah blah blah i was curious on your opinion of you know up here we
have three premier nfts that aren't going to take away and that are going to continue to take away
mind share during this cycle are we worried that what was 10 last time might only be three this
time or might only be five this time because we still expect mindshare from apes and pudgies and doodles and punks and blah blah blah blah blah yeah i know i i do think so and
that's why i thought and and actually as i shared i thought we'd see a lot more consolidation i
didn't think we'd see as much new stuff popping off and so to your point i i think it's we we are
our attention is going to be spread wider than it was last cycle.
And without new participants, I think that's the variable, right?
Like, without new participants, it's challenging for me to see
100 ETH plus type floor prices, right?
Like, I'm not saying floor prices won't run.
They will.
We've seen it.
Pudgy's proved it.
Or they got to suck away from the cap,
which is what my worry.
I don't know that without new participants,
it can be 100 ETH board ape and 100 ETH penguins.
Yeah, I don't.
It's very hard.
I don't want to say it's not going to happen.
It absolutely could.
We've seen it happen before.
It's hard for me to envision multiple collections
running up over 100 ETH without new participants.
And when the crazy mania happened last time,
I don't know.
I'd have to look at like active wallets,
but I certainly,
it felt like there was,
I don't know,
10 X the amount of like active participants and like daily mints and stuff
that there is now.
even as these new mints run up,
it feels like a lot of the,
like the same grinders
mostly that were here throughout the bear.
I just don't know. Maybe the new
participants come.
I still don't know. I'm
fully convicted. We have a raging bull
for 2025. I just
don't know how wide it goes
the new participants come from because
a lot of the leading brands apes the pudgies i i
think they're both building out chains right and and maybe like we hit that point where
consumer adoption really does take off i just in, in my head, I still think that is like a year plus out, right? I think
like next year will be a lot of laying the foundation and maybe the market markets and
these things just get crazy and people flood in because they're seeing, you know, they're seeing
zoomers just print money on TikTok. But I really think like the flood of new users, I think it's probably more than a year away. I could be way off there, but that's my gut is, yeah, I think that the attention being spread could potentially limit some of the upside.
But it doesn't mean we're not going to see potentially crazy upside from where we're at today, as well as these new mints that
we've seen. And that, like I said, was completely unexpected. Now, I'll let you get back in here if
you wanted. And then, Adrian, I saw your hand fly up and then back down. But we'll go to you next,
if you want to get back in here. Dal, any response? Yeah, you know, I'm just interested
to see how this works out. You know, there's like, what, 8,000 of us maybe who have been here
through the bear into the cycle. You would expect these people to be a little bit more educated on how the space works to make money i'm interested to see if
those kind of people will be rolling back into the traditionals for example if i'm making some
money in the cycle penguins have been good to me it's very likely that i roll into penguins
as opposed to trying to chase new mints and blah blah blah so i'm just interested to see how it
all plays out who makes the money and where they put it. It's going to be exciting. Yeah. And I do agree with that. I think that's where I'm at is I'm going to certainly be paying
attention to these new minutes and you'd be paying attention better. But my, my plan is if I hit some
winners, I do absolutely intend to, A, I'm still stockpiling majors. So I'm still growing my ETH,
Bitcoin and Solana bag with Solana being my, my bag. I'm
focused on growing the most this cycle. Last cycle, it was all about building my ETH and
Bitcoin position. This cycle, it's about building my Solana position. And, and like, if I, I've been
talking about a bean or an elemental, if I get some big wins, I'll pick up an Izuki and I'm probably not doing it just for the token,
right? Like that's where, like, I still would like to, at minimum would like to pick up a
little before abstract launch. I'm not going to do the token claim and then floor my little,
like my, my moves that I'm making are going to be exactly what you just said. Like either,
yeah, picking up another mutant because they've been
good to me. And I think there's something, you know, on the come or one of these other collections
I've been on the, I made a doodles on my list. Like I, I split a doodle with Crocs and we've
been a great pair there because there's been times that I probably would have looked to sell.
There's been other times he probably looked, looked to sell. And because we, you know, we,
we got agreed unanimously that thing has stayed in our wallet and grateful it did.
But like a doodle is one that I would like to add, you know, add a full doodle at some
That's kind of my goal this cycle is, and I don't say that to be like derogatory towards
any new mints.
I just, I'm good when it comes to communities, except there's some exposure to ones that
I participated in.
I've been to a lot of events and I don't have the exposure I'd like yet.
So that's, that is kind of the, my, on my tick list,
my goal list for the new year is okay. We, we need, we add a little,
we add an elemental and then we hit some bigger wins. We looked at the,
you know, the OG Izuki, we looked at the, you know, the, you know,
the OG Pudgy, we looked at a, you know, full, full doodle.
Like that's kind of where I'm at agent. Go ahead and get back in here.
No, I, I mean yeah, there's a lot of great points, I think, from either side.
I'm kind of mixed.
I don't know.
Maybe it's the problem of listening to you guys too much, especially like Cap and Steve,
different perspectives and stuff like that, and everyone else that comes on stage.
But it's like, I'm kind of bullish on everything like it's it's all kind of exciting like I I think
people should kind of spread out of what they think is going to happen because I mean based off
you know insights I've heard from you I'm much more interested in like uh you know meme coins
Solana what's going on over there um AI agents, from what I've heard over the
past weeks, I think you've seen my comments and
stuff like that.
I'm also, because of
for example, the penguins,
they got me into
ordinals, which was with pizza pets and stuff
like that.
I completely lost that.
My pizza pet died, and then
my other pizza pet died.
And I even invested into another pizza vet and it died too. So it's like, um, but like this is,
this is actually alpha. If you're, if you're a creator and you want to soft rug your community,
create some sort of Tamaguchi on chain, something that, that the, that users have to actually pay
attention to and do something, interact with daily eventually you'll just you'll take all their money because
we we have a collective attention span of a squirrel sorry agents go back to you right
no no you actually summed it down better than i could even um but no i mean i i think this is kind
of the steam uh the theme of the space and i think it was said i forgot who said it but it's literally
the vibe i i felt it's like you know scare money don't make money and i'm not saying like you know jump into everything but
it's kind of like let's interact with different areas because i mean you know people were building
i'm not saying like you know don't take profits if some projects that haven't been building
happen to shoot up maybe you take bags because you have to maybe
you're like just done with those communities but there are also some other communities that are
like you know doing some stuff i i don't want to talk about ape chain too much again or or abstract
too much but like geez what what ride is doing with that and everything i mean like i mentioned
before they're doing a 24-hour space and stuff like that. There's other people doing stuff.
There's other strong communities being built.
I don't even know what's going on in Solana, but I'm interested in that.
And that might be because of Pengu.
That might be because of what I mentioned before.
It could be Farcoin, UFD, everything I've heard in this space and stuff like that.
I don't know.
But I'm interested. And I think that's, I don't know if
that's the fun thing, the dangerous thing going into 2025. But I think there's, for the people
that have been here since 2021, that's where I started. It's kind of fun and it's exciting.
So it's like, yes, take everything with caution, of course, but it's like experiment a little bit.
I'm not saying put all your bags in anything.
Obviously, take profits where you need to.
No one's going to judge you because at the end of the day, you've got to take care of yourself and your family, whatever you have to take care of.
But, yeah, like look into other different areas um you don't have to invest
into it just to look into it i i've i've met people that uh were in communities that i've been part of
in uh since 2021 where i just pass them an hn nft you know i mean i'm planning to do the same thing
with the abstract because it's like if you've been involved in this space, maybe you'll get excited about it.
And it's the same thing I follow,
being active in these spaces.
Like I would have never thought
I'd got into meme coin so early.
Like, and maybe I'm late actually.
I feel like I'm late now, but I'm also kind of early
because when I tell my family about Farcoin
and other things in this space,
it's like, I don't, I, they can't fully comprehend
what's going on. So, um, uh, it's exciting. I think that's just a comment I wanted to make,
like be open to everything, but obviously take care of yourself.
Yeah. Great advice. Great advice. Dal, we'll go back to you and then I'm going to get Wiseman
here. Dal, go ahead. Yeah. I'm just curious what you guys are looking for in this next cycle,
as far as what is a definitely want to mint this.
You know, we had the Doc's founder thing and I ended up with a stoner cat in my wallet.
And now Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are hanging out with Diddy at parties.
So I don't think the Doc's founder is really what it is.
And then nowadays, you know, a coin does better if the dev lights himself on fire and smokes crack in front of the camera.
So like, what are we looking for here when it comes to moving forward?
Like this is a cooker. What's our mint cooker recipe? in front of the camera so like what are we looking for here when it comes to moving forward like this
is a cooker what's our mint cooker recipe man it's a great question and my my actual answer
is i don't know i'm still looking for what i'm looking to identify um i mean i i minted uh one
the other week that was like some 404 thing and and the website was fancy no idea who the founders were but it was getting a lot of hype
and it was a bonding curve and i i long i basically burned a thousand dollars i mean i ended up
selling some so it wasn't truly a you know 1k loss but i think i probably burnt 600 bucks and how
much easier and it was for these people to make these projects i don't know that the spray and
pray is going to work so hot for anyone on this round. You can't. You can't. That's exactly where I was going to go with this.
I mean, it was easy to spin this stuff up in 2021 for those that knew what they were doing.
There was a lot of dev farms where they were just copy-pasted and they'd swap out the animal pictures and redo the same contract.
I think now with the advancements of AI, no-code websites and stuff like you can make stuff look really good
for a fraction like something that might have cost a team like a quarter million dollars to
make it look like okay there's a real production team behind this i think they could probably do
it for less than 10 grand now and it's going to look like oh my god this is the next big thing
and the reality is they have nothing other than a hype video so yeah i i don't know i i don't
it's not docs founders for me and this is going to sound maybe weird. One thing I am looking for or at is AI-led projects.
Is it someone LARPing as an agent?
Is it a real agent?
I think next year is going to be the year of the AI agent and of swarms.
And I think we're going to see things change significantly when you talk about these communities and organizing people and things like DAOs.
I think agents can actually fix DAOs.
and so that's kind of some of the stuff i'm looking at but just like 99 the nfts went to
And so that's kind of some of the stuff I'm looking at.
zero last cycle 99 the ai agents are going to go to zero most of them are going to be garbage
and just like it's easy to spin up a new website it's very easy to spin up a new agent so you can't
i don't sprain and praying definitely does not work anymore i don't unless you just have a massive
you know bankroll massive war chest that you can, there's just too much stuff coming out
when you factor in the memes as well, that I think you would be hard pressed to just spray and pray.
And I do think it requires a little more due diligence now. And there's still some luck
involved. You still got to follow your gut and the attention. But no, I really don't know. To
answer your question, the criteria criteria what am i looking for
in some cases it will still come back to the team like i see outer lumen out in the chat and i i'm
not deep in the ordinals ecosystem i you know picked up a pizza pet and you know that's that's
you know about the extent of my ordinal bags is is a dead ordinal but when i when i see that team
and the respect for outer and what they're doing, not just with quantum, quantum cats, but with the upcoming wizards, like that's,
that's something that intrigues me because I know the people, right? I know what outer is capable
of. And so like, those are individuals, Hey, I'm, I'm still always going to support my friends.
If they have an opportunity, if I'm in a position to do so. And the, the, I think that's
maybe how I will sum it up is, well, I don't, I also am going to go into that with, with low
expectations. It's like, Oh, collect it for the art. I'm not collecting anything. Cause I love
the art. I'm just, I'm not independently wealthy to the tune that I should be spending tens of
thousands of dollars on art. I just, I'm not in that spot in my life. And so I'm not going to be buying something just because I love the art, but I will
buy something to support a friend. And if the thing doesn't work, if they're, if they're one
of the 95% where their venture goes to zero, I'm okay with that much more so than, than just buying
something because I vibe with it or it's the art and it's a material investment. So that's kind of,
kind of, I mean, kind of helped me build my thesis for next year. But some, it will be friends,
some, it will be docs founders, but that certainly doesn't guarantee success. I think, A, I plan to
be more selective, exit a lot faster. And the ones that I really get vested in from a time and energy standpoint and monetary.
It's going to be few and far between.
And part of that is probably, I probably need to do the Discord cleanse like you did.
And while some of these, I don't know, the NFTs probably never catch a pump,
but they just sit there and collect dust.
It still is, I just think, focusing a little bit this cycle on a
supporting the people I want to support, but also when I find a winner, double down on those
winners. That's one thing like my takeaway from last cycle, I admitted apes. I never bought another
one and I was there the whole time, but they just, they ripped up to a point where it was always,
wow. I, at the time I'd started with, you know, less than less than one eth and so when they ripped up to pass
an eth like it was hard for me to even put my head in that mind you know that that mind frame
but if i could run it back certainly there was moves i could have made i want to we're going to
go to wiseman next as i as i invoked uh i i do want to talking about that you know plans what
we did last cycle i saw a question from from Mr. C. I want to answer
real quick, at least do my best to answer. And then we'll go to Wiseman. Mr. C in the chat says,
borrow against an NFT or sell. And I just had a quick response. I said, it depends. There's
pros and cons of both in everyone's situation is different, but how you, you know, if, if you're there, like, so taking out a loan on an NFT point liquidity out
can, you know, for a couple of things, one, it's not most, most jurisdictions, not a taxable event.
So you're pointing out liquidity and you're going to be paying interest, which is actually
a tax deduction. And, but it's going to be a fraction, like maybe at most 50% of the value of the NFT
that you could sell. But again, you don't have, if it's something you don't want to part ways with
your, your, you, you like the IP or you're building with the IP or who knows, like it's something you
want to hold for the, for the long duration, or you're just not sure. Yeah. I, I, my, probably
my best loan last cycle was a Moonbird took out, I don't know, it was around 16 K USD, uh, loan on a moon bird when the floor was probably, I don't know, 25,
30 K. And now had I, could I sold it at that point? Would it have been a better, you know,
exit? Yeah, it would have been, but taking out the, you know, pulling out the liquidity and then
letting that, that bird fly was far better than just holding it until
the price went down to what it is today. So I think there's pros and cons of both.
But my advice on if you are going to play the NFT fight space is always have a plan B. If it's an
asset that you don't want to lose, make sure you have a way to pay down that loan that's not purely
the funds you pulled out of it. And we talk about in and out,
even if you meant something, you love it, know that that interest is continuing to accrue.
And if you just keep playing the minting game and don't ever repay the loan, sooner or later,
you're going to hit a bad one and you're going to find yourself in a bad spot. So I think if
you're doing the loan, it's short-term, short- short term in and out. And that's the other thing is like,
you got to really be confident because there's also, you meant something, you pull out a loan,
you meant something, you know, you meant five of them per point one, you got a half of Ethan to
something and it goes to zero. Like it happens. And then now like you're, when your loan comes
to you, how are you going to pay that thing off? Wiseman, GM, I pin up a post you put out in
September and it's actually hits home for me as I talk about like wrapping up the year and, and,
you know, kind of my, my plan and prep for the new year. 2024 sucked for me. I know I'm not looking
for sympathy, please. This is, I'm healthy. I'm happy. I, it was just a, a year of, it was a
rollercoaster year. It was, I've had a year of it was a roller coaster year it was
i've had a couple of difficult years in my life 2017 was the last year like this
and it's it's all like i am fine i'm not looking for sympathy but it was a very challenging year
in my personal life and the last time that i went through a challenging year. My personal life was 2017. 2018 was one of the best years of my life.
It was one of the, it was, it was, I still had challenges that year, but as far as personal
growth and development and, and getting healthy, it was, I can mark that year as one of the
biggest years of personal growth and development in my entire life. And so while I finished this
year, kind of like with,
you know, beating up a little bit and, you know, black eye and a bloody nose, I'm actually grateful
for that and excited. As I talk about my planning and prepping for this, you know, throughout this
last week of the year, it's, I can't even explain my excitement for 2025. And there's nothing
magical about January 1st. I said, I'm not a resolutioner, but there is something magical about shifting your mindset, about entering new chapters. And for those of
you reading it, I'll read Wiseman's post and then we'll go right to him. He says,
an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties,
it means that it's going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming.
Wiseman, great quote.
It resonates with me this morning.
Thanks for sharing that.
And GM, what brought you up this morning?
Probably wasn't your post, but if it was, feel free to go there as well.
No, I just wanted to wish you and Steve, now that he's here,
a Merry Christmas and everyone on the panel and in the crowd.
Yep, it's been, you know, an up and down year for everybody for sure.
You know, there will be lows and they're not going to feel as low without having the highs of the past.
And, you know, kind of the same thing in the reciprocal.
The highs aren't going to feel as high if you didn't have the lows to jump up from.
You know, the bull the bull isn't going to feel as as, you know, give you some excitement, something unknown that you don't know what's going to come up next.
And life and NFTs and it's all an adventure and um
yeah i really just wanted to come up and say merry christmas and i didn't want to interrupt
uh everybody because it was such a good conversation
sorry my voice is a little no appreciate you sharing appreciate you coming up and
great advice and and yeah i think i agree 100 you know appreciate those those lows
appreciate the highs but don't don't get too high don't get too low and yeah for me
it's those lows make the highs hit so much better like i'm so grateful for the life I had because I have had challenges
in my life, right? If it wasn't for that, like I think life is, you know, this is easy street and
it really has, like I said, every, and it's not just 2017, quite literally every big L in my life,
whether relationship wise, whether financially speaking, business speaking, every big L was followed
by a massive win far bigger than the L, but had I got down in the dumps and, and, and Hey,
it's, it's normal to get down and, and people get depressed sometimes, but you have to push
through that and just know that it will like, like I like I relish in the downtimes because I've lived this life where I've,
I've felt that, that slingshot, that bow shoot forward.
As you mentioned law,
I felt I've been launched into greatness almost immediately following these
L's. And so there's no guarantee it's going to happen.
But the one thing I'm pretty certain of,
if you don't think it's going to happen, if you think thing I'm pretty certain of, if you don't think it's
going to happen, if you think you're just going to be down forever, you probably will be. It's
like, I do believe that your subconscious mind is incredibly powerful and thoughts are things. And
if you don't think you're ever going to break out of it, you probably won't. Go ahead, Wiseman.
No, that's exactly right. I mean, relating it toTs, and to your point about Bored Ape Yacht Club taking weeks to mint out, there was a time you could purchase an Ape below the mint price even.
had to come down a bit before you saw the highs of 2022.
Penguins, kind of the same thing, right?
They were massive, and then they had a little bit of a dip.
And then, yeah, Doodles, you know,
kind of looking to have that same thing happen.
We'll see what the next year has in store for him.
Agent, your mic is hot.
Yes, I'm sorry. Sorry about that. Sorry about that.
That's good.
I forget what I was going to say.
But yeah, just stick through.
And, you know, I don't know.
I don't want to quote a Counting Crows song,
but it's been a cold December.
Maybe next year will be better than the last.
Counting Crows.
That is – we're tossing it way back today.
Holy shit, I was going to say.
I'm like, wow.
Yeah, yeah, that's a throwback for sure i did want i i do want to say thank you for saying like if you weren't here for like you know
it for for the bear or i think it was something like that like you won't enjoy the bowl as much
i i love that quote because it's like the people that have really been through the you know
through the downs maybe made bad decisions maybe selling
stuff too early i've read stories about that like even you know being in the pengu family like they
sold maybe a little too early to like you know have allocation later and stuff like that um
yeah i i think if you've had that experience you value what's going to happen or what may
be happening in the future um something that like I don't want to share
too much about my story but like I had a lot of things stolen from me like on Halloween and that
kind of like pushed me to be like more involved in the space because I saw some movement and like
even though it was a downtime for me like a lot of what a cat says is real like you do kind of have
to feel bottom before you got to get up
and i think we've seen that in the market maybe we've seen that in our own lives and like i mean
just you know keep going learn from the past and i mean a lot of it's learning from the past
it doesn't repeat itself but like you can make better decisions moving forward. And just remember that everything in life, life itself, is not permanent.
There's always change.
Something's always going to get better or get worse.
Or, you know, do something to, you know, I don't know.
you know, I don't know. Um, it's, it, life is full of surprises and you don't know what's
going to come up next for you. Um, but as long as you can, you can, um, you know, weather the storm,
then, um, then the storm will pass. It's great advice, especially in this space that you just never know. You could be one click
away from truly a life-changing event. Unlike any place in the, in, in I've ever experienced,
not even close. And it's not just one click. Sometimes you get, you, you, you know, you've
shown up for years and you get, you get blessed with some big airdrop that you weren't expecting.
Like it really is. There's always something next. There's always a next.
There's always going to be another runner.
It may not be today.
It may not be this week.
It may not be next month, but there will be additional opportunities as long as this space continues to exist. And based on where I think we're heading from a regulatory standpoint, I don't see it going away any time ever, let alone in the near future.
Outer GM, thanks for your patience.
Always a pleasure. Merry Christmas to you and the fam. Send divide in the near future. Outer GM, thanks for your patience. Always a pleasure.
Merry Christmas to you and the fam.
Send divide in the kiddo, my best.
Hey, GM, GM.
Yeah, Merry Christmas.
I also just woke up.
My vocal fry is on point,
just like Wiseman's this morning.
I'm like, oh my God.
But I had to come up
and I had to say happy holidays.
And listening to you guys talk about
and the lows is such an interesting thing. First thing I'll say is that I woke up and
the first DMs and celebratory heartwarming messages I got were from people in Web3.
I literally just woke up and I saw my DMs from someone I worked with at the Hashmasks, another friend in the space,
just someone who I now talk to just on text and not even on Twitter, just reached out and said,
Merry Christmas. This is before my IRL friends. I just got love and giving love back to my Web3
family who have now become friends. So the power of that is just crazy. And I feel so lucky to be in a place
where I have that and I've nurtured that
and people reciprocate it.
That's huge.
And then I think one of the things
that I've learned as someone...
I'm guessing none of those DMs
or none of those messages,
it's not like someone's trying to farm you for...
Oh my God.
Like it's, it's like, it's, it's, I had the same thing.
I had the same experience.
Like it's, it really is.
When I say like the worm is my, my web three home.
Like first place I went this morning to GM and wish people a Merry Christmas.
And then I started texting my family and that's not derogatory towards my family.
It's just, that's the daily routine I've created. And I know, I know these people care about me.
And part of it's like, Oh, I'm going to, I want to make sure I GM and wish everyone well today
because my day could get busy and I may not be in there much the rest of the day.
And these people are really important to me. They mean a lot to me. They're real friends.
It's not acquaintances. It's not people I have fun with in space. These are lifelong friends
and outer you and divide are very much in that world of me.
And it truly is what I'm most grateful for about Web3 is the new lifelong friends that's brought into my life.
And candidly, while I say I'm in enough communities, I don't need any more.
At the same time, I am kind of looking forward to what 2025 brings in terms of new relationships.
Oh, 100%. There's always that as well, right? It's nurturing what you've built and created,
and I love that, and also growing and building new ones. I wanted to say two more things. One,
from kind of the ups and the lows of you and Wiseman were talking about, something that I
had to learn, and it was hard, but once I learned it it was like it just sometimes
it still gets me is that like if you do have a life that's trauma filled with hardships sometimes
it's hard not to live a life where you're like focusing and expecting crappy things to happen
versus actually being happy and enjoying the things you have because you could be you could
learn a behavior where you're afraid that those things will go away. And that actually prevents you from having a life where you're enjoying your life.
And so I think it's really important to like, yes, yes, they are push and pull,
black and white kind of thing where your highs are going to be balanced with the lows.
But there's also something to be said about like actually just taking a moment and enjoying
the things you have or when good
things come along without thinking like oh no but because I've had bad things this isn't real or this
will be gone or I'm not going to even celebrate it I think people that have kind of you know
hardship trauma-filled lives tend to do this and it's such a like hard to learn behavior to actually take those wins so i'm i'm learning to to do that more that
i think is important um and yeah that's that's a big one um so i wanted to to share that as we're
talking about highs and lows on life and that and then like in terms of i think if i could just add
to that real quick because i think it's very important what you just said and i think while I said there's always going to be a next one, there's always going to be new opportunity in the space there is. I think it's very, very, very important that you don't evaluate your own results, your own success, your own happiness in this space by purely your P&L, by purely your financial gains. You'll hit wins, you'll hit losses,
the losses will sting.
And the hardest part is you will see other people
hitting big wins that you miss.
And it's easy.
You can hit a big win, but you sold a 10X
and it ends up running to 100X and you're down.
Like it is easy to get down if all you're
thinking about is purely the financial because even the best traders in this space they go
through ruts they go through downs you know down spells they they most of them have proper
bankroll management and they stay they stay alive i just i think reflecting and what other wins
beyond your pnl did you hit this year? Because some of those
connections you made, some of those relationships you made, that very well could turn into a new
career for you next year. It could be the next big opportunity. It could be a new job. It could
be the next hottest NFT collection to mint. And you've built a great relationship with the founder.
There are so many ways to win in this space beyond a profitable flip. And I think too often, most of us, myself included, will often measure our wins and
losses or our success or lack thereof based on our monthly P&L.
And that's dangerous.
And the very last thing I say, and by the way, if there's hands up, like I can't, Steve's
a listener to me.
I can't like Twitter's rugging.
So, but I'll just say this because you kind of brought it up too as far as
like career stuff is concerned i mean i'm such a i guess like lucky but not just lucky um
like i just can't believe that i've had like a career in web3 that has been full-time the entire
time that wasn't the goal and the reason i'm bringing that up is because, you know, we talked about like meeting new
people and stuff.
And for me, like going from full on, you know, deeply ingrained in Ethereum to now, you know,
working with a Bitcoin company, it's kind of like such a huge pivot, but also so many
new relationships and friendships have come and are coming out of that, which
is really amazing to see that and made me realize too, like just how much there is to
gain from cross-pollination across chains and that kind of thing.
And yeah, that's been incredible.
And I think what, just like for people making New Year's resolutions and thinking about
wins and all that, those connections and the time that you put into doing things, I think leads to a lot of opportunity.
I mean, that is my entire story in having a career in Web3 is like I didn't apply for a single of the three jobs I've had in like a direct here's my resume kind of way.
And that's all just because of being present
participating and learning and showing up and and making connections and friends like that's
that that is that was that is it there's there's there isn't anything like there's no playbook
in that regard it's kind of just like if you're gonna do your best you then people are probably
gonna notice that so and I think everyone has different motivations for being here.
And I think that's totally fine.
Like some of it is to hang out and trade.
Some of it is to have a digital identity in the form of a PFP and like bond with your
fellow holders.
Like sometimes it's about, you know, getting that first merch drop before everyone else.
And sometimes it is about a career in Web3.
Like all the motivations are are different and i think that
like the biggest value i take away from the space looking back is actually not financial and that's
not because divide and i haven't made you know a bag here and there we have is a life-changing money
i don't the thing for us is life-changing means such a different thing. Like we have worked and we have retired and then we have worked again.
And we ebb and flow on like how we value our free time. And sometimes we'll, we're able to take a
year off and just like sit with our dog, you know, on the ice and stare at the water and do nothing
to have room for then wanting to get in and work hard again. And that's because we know that life is very finite
and not all of it is just at the end.
And maybe that's the biggest thing I'll tell people,
especially if you're starting out
or you're thinking about your life or you're reflecting.
And even if you have kids, all of that,
think about how you may not want to save
this idea of your free time till the very end when you may not want to save this like this like idea of your free time
till the very end when you may not have it anymore or you may not feel super great about like you
know doing the travel you want to do or whatever it is right like I think realizing your own age
and mortality is probably the biggest win if you can do that early because you're going to make
decisions so differently if you actually understand what it means.
And Jobs already said it best, right?
Like, listen to his commencement talk, you'll have a pretty good idea of, like,
what it means to understand that maybe taking that, like, half a year off if you can,
or taking a weekend off, whatever it is, like, and focusing on, like, that respite to, like, just be chill and chill and reflective and like giving yourself that time to
invest in yourself is super huge because if you save save save and then you pile it all up and
now you're like well okay I'm 70 that's when I'm gonna retire like are you really gonna want to do
the same things when you're 70 you're probably gonna have a different outlook on life you know
so make sure that you in invest in in in the now um i think that's
that's a big part of that so in the space what i've gained is is the relationships and the
friendships and i feel extremely lucky to have that that is my biggest ultimate win of all of it
that and having the and the team that i work with now, which is like the coolest team ever.
And I'm obsessed.
I love it. Great, great advice. And I too am grateful for our friendship as well as,
you know, I mean, it blows my mind where it's a Christmas morning and we've got over 120 people tuning into a coffee with captain space. Like if you would have told me this three years ago,
I would have laughed at you. You know, we started this show December 3rd, 2021.
And that first month, like, I don't think we maybe broke a hundred listeners.
I remember 60. There was like maybe 50, 60. It was you and Drew and Steve. I think, yeah. Like
it was, it was, yeah. I mean, I remember that's when I met you guys and I just can't
believe like, you're right. You said this and I'm like, has it been like this long? It's just crazy.
And yeah, you know, if you both were not the amazing people that you are, you wouldn't grow
such an incredible community behind you. So that's, that's like, you don't, you don't even
need the flowers. The flowers are all of the PFPs in this space on Christmas morning.
Those are your flowers.
Well, I really appreciate the kind words.
It means the world to me.
I mean, you're going to get me emotional here this morning.
It really is.
I'm not often a loss for words, but it is when I try to get out my feelings now.
It's hard to put into words because it does mean so much to me. And
it has nothing to do with a monthly P&L. It has everything to do with these relationships,
these friendships, these acquaintances, these business partners. And yeah, big shout out to
Steve. He joined us from 30,000 feet and looks like he just lost his wifi, but certainly we certainly would not be hitting 800 consecutive shows tomorrow without him. He is
one half of coffee with captain and he may not have been here from the day one, but it wasn't
long after. And, and soon as he, uh, as soon as he began his coffee with captain adventure, he,
he's not, uh, he is not wavered, but the thing
you said about, well, I don't know. I'm trying to lay in the plane and you got me, you got me
thinking all, you got me all in the fields this morning. I don't know where exactly. I have more
fields. You want fields? How about, how about this one? The best part is for any people that are newer to knowing both of you, is that like when you had your spaces like, you know, 800 episodes ago or whatever, like, and when there were only, you know, 50 whatever people in it, like nothing's changed in terms of who you both are and the kind of show you want to have and the kind of integrity you
bring to the space and the interests that you have. Like the best part is the consistency of
coffee with Captain and Steve. And many people may not know that if they've joined at show 500
or joined at show 600 or whatever. But for those of us that have been there from the beginning,
you know, early, early in, and I'm
one of those people, like, I don't give my time to anything that I, you know, don't believe in or
support. I don't, I don't give a fuck. Like, I, you know, pardon for any children that are listening,
but like the reason why people give you your, you know, their time, which is such a huge commodity,
right? Like is, is because you foster that kind of care and
that kind of community. And you know, is it having ups and downs? Absolutely. Every like
family unit and community will, but you've created this like bond, I think from all of
us in the, in the war room. And it does definitely feel like a family kind of gathering, even
when you pop in there and I don't know if you guys, you know, for whoever's in the war room, you'll know, like everyone's a character,
just like every family has, you know, the uncle, the dad, whatever.
And we all are that.
And, but at the end of the day, we're like, that is such a trusted place.
And that, that element of trust is, is, is amazing.
And that's something that both of you fostered because of your kind of like I think there's this unwavering consistency in who you are as people because you kind of
you are growing with us but you also like know who you are at the core and that core is the
foundation of the show and people either are in it and they follow it or they don't get it and
that's just that that's the most like amazing thing right because you know how real and genuine the people that do show up are in in wanting to give you and steve uh their time
myself included means the world we we're wrong a lot we'll be right occasionally but the one thing
we really pride ourselves on is you're getting the real Steve and Cap.
Like this is our authentic self each and every day. And like I said, while we could give you
all the non-financial advice, disclaimers that we may should or shouldn't be doing,
it really is we share what we feel and there's no other ulterior motives other than we love the
space. We love all of you and And we're grateful to be here.
The one thing that you said,
I am going to circle back to,
and we'll probably look to wind things down and wrap up here.
If anyone else has anything they wanted to get in here,
throw up a hand and I'll go to you before we shut things down.
But I did pin Achilles very kind words up top.
I felt fitting to,
to share that join the worm a little back,
a little while back says a token
thank to thank dj network and wish our amazing chris and steve an amazing christmas to them and
their families thank you for sharing so much value for being honest and contributing to our growth
of our amazing web3 family the past three years would not have been the same without you and the
rest of the coffee with captain and dj family merry christmas to you and your families
right back at you right it's like this is the show while steve and i have been here for
799 consecutive weekdays it's it's not steve and myself that makes the show it's this community
and we we love tuning in like this started because we we were doing it in discord and
talking with our friends and catching up on the space that we all share you know common interest
in and it's it's grown into this, but to Outer's point,
it's Steve and I are still, well, hopefully we've grown
and become better people in some regard
over the last three years.
But as far as our authentic selves,
it's what you hear is what you get,
show one and show 799.
And the one thing Outer said that I just,
I do feel it's worth double tapping on is your time, right?
And your goals.
And I did not have that balance in really in my adult life.
I went very hard, like no days off for five years building a startup and had a successful exit.
And then immediately with no break, with no sabbatical, I went from one startup that was
successful right into another bootstrap startup and put my head down again. And it all turned out
okay. But 10 consecutive years of the rollercoaster I don't, I really don't like using the word
regret. Like I don't have regrets in my life. I've had a lot of learning experiences, but the one
thing I, if I could do it over, if I could run my life back, yeah, I would have bought Bitcoin at,
you know, many, many years ago, more of it. But the bigger, the bigger thing thing more so than any financial decisions was i would have taken more
time off like the whole reason i went into business for myself is so i didn't have to run the corporate
rat race and then i found myself and just how i'm wired instead of working 40 hours a week i was
working 80 hours a week most weeks and there's a lot of time that i i can't get back like my kids
are pretty much grown like i've got a junior in high school and next year she's out of the house and they're amazing kids. I'm grateful for all the time I've
had with them, but absolutely something where as I move forward in life, like I kind of joke that
I'm retired now. Like I'm not, you know, I guess I could take a job for someone, but it's going to
be because I want to do it, not because I need to do it. And, but it's not going to come at the expense of living my life. And fortunately, like I,
I love what we do. I'm very great. I don't, I joke that I'm retired because I don't consider
this work. Like I get to hang out with my friends and talk about something I'm passionate about.
That said, I think keeping that balance is something I'm consciously thinking of as we get
into another raging bull is, as I mentioned, I've got one, you're pretty much one year left with my
youngest daughter at home. And I, it's, there's no amount of money that's worth me sacrificing
that time I have with her. So great, great advice. Good one to wrap on. Appreciate everyone tuning
in today. Blows my mind that we've got, you know, well over a hundred people
tuning in on a Christmas morning. Uh, I see, I see Mike coming up. We'll get him up here real
quick and then we'll, uh, we'll get him some final words and wind things down. Calling some
attention up top. I did pin the, um, the link to the DJ and past if anyone was no pressure whatsoever.
I just, I want to make sure if you are looking at that, you're looking at the correct collection.
Shout out to our guy Steve.
The show 800 tomorrow.
We'll give away one of those DGN passes tomorrow for show 800.
So if you don't have one yet, come back tomorrow.
We'll wish Steve a belated Merry Christmas,
and we'll raffle off one of those DGN passes for show 800.
And in Dow, just for some light reading he pinned up top sygar's
uh post on abstract chain plugin officially merging it with ai16z so looking like we'll
see some agents uh out of the gates there but mike gm always a pleasure sir welcome what brought
you up today merry christmas happy hanukkah can you guys hear me i got old apple headphones in okay we got you yep good to go you know i've been listening i'm out taking the dog
for a walk kid woke up at 5 15 this morning made him wait till 6 15 to open presents he's playing
super mario maker 2 and i just feel blessed taking the dog for a walk two things i wanted to talk i
wasn't going to share i haven't really been jumping up on spaces a lot lately just been feeling like
listening and letting things evolve around me
as opposed to trying to be a center of a conversation,
which I am an only child.
I'm very good at, or good at attempting anyway.
But two things.
One is the Web3 family.
I wasn't here since the beginning for Coffee with Captain,
but I certainly feel like I've been here for a while.
And it's wild wild like the time
thing you know the idea of like where you put let your attention go and i'm the type of guy likes to
throw up a space and kind of have it going in the background while i'm i'm doing stuff and i'm an
early riser so you know i'm usually in my office by eight and um it's just so interesting that like you know we
there was we had so many options in the beginning to kind of like put our time into a space you know
and i say the beginnings three years ago two three years ago but you know there were other morning
shows and other they were at other times but the idea of like i don't know what what what
the idea of like, I don't know what, what, what had me gravitate towards this show and you guys,
obviously it's the realness versus whatever the other stuff can become. But you know, it, it,
it's not lost on me how it, even on, although I'm not in the war room yet, still trying to make it
happen, throwing out Weethoffers, but, um, I always look for a deal i'm a true new yorker um you know the
idea the idea that putting your time and like growing in this space with people i really do
feel like this is my family like you know we've met in real life a couple times you know we don't
i thought like we're texting each other on the on our phones but it just feels like home and it's really it's it's i
want to say thank you and i'm grateful you know i've had some wins i've had lots of losses whatever
right like you were saying doesn't matter um it's truly a place i feel like this show where i can
come listen participate and trust that the people are at least giving their honest take on whatever it is.
So I really want to say thank you because to be honest with you, I am the type, I'm a loner.
I'm the type of guy who kind of likes to have a little bit of a home base,
but also like venture out on my own. But without a true home base,
it's kind of really hard, I think, to kind of do anything consistently. So I wanted to say thank you for that.
The second thing I wanted to say, gratitude to the world and to my life.
One year ago today, I was waking up Christmas morning with a broken leg and a completely torn ACL, MCL, dislocated knee.
I had went on the trampoline with my son on Christmas Eve a year ago, yesterday and uh sufficiently fucked myself up so i'm about to turn 43 and i i
am up to 13 miles uh running i did a half marathon about a month ago i avoided surgery completely
and um yeah i'm just so grateful for my legs you know, and it's like for the body, really so grateful.
So I had a lot of coffee today, so I'm feeling it and I'm very happy to be here.
And happy Hanukkah to all my fellow Jews tonight and Merry Christmas.
Love you guys.
Grateful for you, Mike.
I appreciate the kind words.
And I mean, I think fitting that, you know, shared that post of Wiseman's talking about the arrow could only be shot
forward by pulling it backwards.
And another example of having a pretty rough event moment a year ago.
And it sounds like it turned you into, you know,
even focusing more on your health and getting back in shape and a good,
you had your arrow shot forward. So congrats on that.
I'm healthier and in better shape today than I was before that and ever really have or have been.
So it's incredible.
It's wild.
What I thought was like the worst thing that could happen to me actually turned out to be maybe the best thing.
And it's amazing whether it's an injury or, you know, some financial trade.
Like, again, I'll just reiterate my biggest wins, my biggest losses in life.
Just reiterate, my biggest wins, my biggest losses in life, my TARDIS L's, 100% of them have been followed by a massive win.
Sometimes it was financial windfall.
Other times it was a door that opened that set up something that was just incredible.
And in some cases, I wasn't expecting it.
But I do believe that, and I'm not smart enough to be able to understand and connect all these dots in the universe.
But I do believe that, you know, sometimes you need to take some some dings.
You need to take some L's to change your perspective.
And and sometimes it's that that perspective and your outlook on life can.
There's there's wins in front of you every day that you just miss because you're not looking
for them or you're, you're distracted or you're down, you're, you're, you're, you're paying
attention to your tour ACL instead of, you know, some other opportunity. Cause that's, it's easy
to focus on when things aren't going right. Just know that it's not just Mike or Wiseman.
Like the reason I believe this is I was, you know, at a young age, I was very fortunate. I had some very
successful self-made individuals that for whatever reason, they saw something to me and they took me
under their wing and they turned me on to this way of thinking to turn me on to success principles.
And I'm forever grateful for that because it's stuff that it's not only if I have these lived
experiences, I've heard similar stories in real life examples from almost every single person I
know, personally, that has achieved, you know, tremendous success or wealth in their life. And
so when when I, you know, have a down moment or hit a string of L's, it's, I start getting excited
because of the anticipation of what might come next, knowing it's no, there's no guarantee.
But as I said earlier,
if you're only focused on what's going wrong,
that next opportunity,
you'll probably miss it,
even if it is right in front of you.
So really enjoyed the conversation this morning.
It wasn't,
didn't know what we would actually get into
on a Christmas morning show.
Blown away by,
still over an hour into this.
We've got over 120 people in here.
It's just,
you all mean the world to myself. I'll speak on behalf of Steve as well. It's truly our pleasure
to show up every morning. It's Coffee with Captain and Steve and hundreds of other individuals that
make this community so great, that make the show each and every day. Like sometimes Steve and I
will come in with a list of items we want to talk about. And sometimes that'll carry the show, but it's rare. Most days,
it's just like today we come in with, I don't know, maybe there's something on our mind.
And then someone from the audience will come in and fan the flames of that conversation. And
this morning was no different. So shout out to Agent and Wiseman and Outer and Mike and
everyone who joined us today. Really appreciate all of you.
Just grateful for another incredible year. And even though, as I said, it was a tough one for
me on certain areas outside of this space, it's one that it was still, I'm alive, I'm vertical,
I'm here and sharing Christmas with each and every one of you and really, really excited for
what I feel is about to come and
looking forward to, I said this, this is a productive final week of the year,
setting up a big January, I feel. And we'll be back tomorrow, show 800, hit that reminder up
top. If you haven't done so already, the carousel is all the way to the left, smash that reminder
for at least tomorrow's show, 800 will be special. As I mentioned, hold me to it. If I forget,
remind me, I offered to give up a, give out a DJ and pass.
We will definitely do that tomorrow.
hope everyone enjoys the holidays,
whatever you're celebrating today,
or even if you're not celebrating,
I hope you enjoy the day and hopefully you get to spend some time with some
friends and family.
And we'll be back tomorrow,
bright and early 8 a.m.
As Steve would say,
have a wonderful,
wonderful day,
