I'm going to show you what I'm going to go. I I'm going to do it. Oh, you see money? Spread it like a peanut butter jelly
Do it like a oh, you see money?
Money, money, money, money, money
Spread it back. What's going on everybody?
Welcome to another Vala Megaspaces.
It's going to be an absolute banger today.
We've got some amazing guests joining us
We're gonna play one more song and give everyone a chance to jump up and then we will kick things off I want to run away.
I want wanna run away I love you, but I love you. I want to run.
I wanna run, chase the moon and sun
When I'm with you, give it all away
Catching the fire as the wind blows
I know that I'm rich enough for pride
I see a billion dollars in your eyes, even if it's fine, just tell me down.
That's true. That's true. That's true. Thank you. Music Music Music
Music Music Music All right, all right, all right, I think we can kick things off.
It's a beautiful Thursday.
I'm here in Zimbabwe at the moment, which some of you might be quite surprised to hear.
But just a quick heads up that if my signal does cut out it's because the
internet isn't amazing here um so just please be mindful of that um quinn what's happening
my amazing co-host how are you doing today gm
and she's gone quinn also mentioned that she is, I don't even know where she is,
but she also mentioned her signal has been intermittent. Um, so, um, I'll, uh, I'll
first of all, can you hear me again? Yes. My internet is I'm on the struggle bus with you,
Chris. I'm so sorry. I don't know what's going on with Istanbul and, uh, the wifi and the signal
here, but I'm here and i'm really excited to be
here if i'm not speaking as much today y'all know why but i'm really excited to be here and to tune
in and just be here with the vala squad vala fam let's go thanks for joining um next up i'm gonna
throw it over to crazy white boy my good fellow dj homie um who's joined us before but he's joining us here today because he's
skiving from work and he hasn't got anything better to do I'm just kidding what's up brother
how you doing I'm amazing well I think I'm amazing I think I might have COVID I'm not sure I just took
a test I'm waiting to see oh no that sucks well I mean that, that's actually why Rebecca's not here today because, well, I don't know if she's got COVID, but she had really not good.
She had like cold sweats and feeling all feverish and vomiting and all of that.
So, you know, shame she's not here today either.
Just this morning, I felt a bit like weird and it feels
like covid and i'm in like abu dhabi so i was in dubai last weekend and it's a good chance that
out uh in the clubs in uh dubai caught me spending too much time in the clubs there hey
yeah it's all good it's all good having a bit of a break from work to jump into the spaces exciting
well appreciate you joining today, man.
Next up, I'm going to throw it over to our latest partner who we've just announced.
We've got Jimmy behind the Tree Gens account, I'm assuming.
Jimmy, what's going on, man?
Let's grow, let's grow, let's grow.
Feeling great and grateful.
Man, so much for the Vala fam for supporting TreeGens in this way. It's making such a huge
impact and I'm just super grateful. And yeah, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much,
guys. You're all legends. Amazing, mate. Good to have you here today. And next up,
we've got Vapor. Vapor is from the team at Reposa Coffee Company who were recently here in South Africa.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet them
I forget what the event was called,
but they were here for a big Solana hackathon.
How are you doing, brother?
Did not wake up feeling the best this morning, though,
so that's not too, too well,
I am actually doing all right.
I'm feeling a little bit tired.
I haven't been sleeping the best the past few nights just because I haven't been up here on holiday.
I've kind of been here getting passports
and police clearances and that type of thing, which is always stressful. So lack of sleep. But
aside from that, I'm good. Went for a nice run this morning. The weather's here is really beautiful.
At the moment, we got like 26 degrees Celsius, beautiful sunny skies with some clouds dotted
around. So yeah, and I've got everything sorted now that I needed to.
spend some time with my dad
We've also got Sin who's joining us.
I know Sin mentioned that he might have some work on,
so he might not be around the whole time,
but he's one of our frequent guests
here on Val Omega Spaces.
Sin, what's going on, brother?
Please, please, for the love of God, tell me that you are not feeling sick today. but he's one of our frequent guests here on Val Omega Spaces. Scene, what's going on, brother?
Please, please, for the love of God,
tell me that you are not feeling sick today.
You're rugging a little bit, bro.
I can't hear you very well.
Scene has dropped as a listener okay
all right um i guess let's uh let's start off just talking a little bit about april
um because uh i guess things are starting to look like semi better um and uh obviously with
all of these tariffs and stuff we've had a pretty turbulent couple of weeks.
But looking at things today and right now, things are actually starting to look up a little bit.
So the markets are looking pretty good.
Quinn, what are you kind of thinking?
Are you thinking we're back to Pumpytown or are we are we about to go back down
to goblin town oh i hope we're on the pumpy town train okay i really hope we're going in that
direction and genuinely guys i mean what a wild roller coaster this week has been i mean all this
talk about terrace and then the stock market tanking everything just tanking you know it
made me think that you know there's no better industry to really practice riding the roller coaster that is the market right now than crypto.
Right. I mean, we we know how to be in the trenches and to stick it all out.
And honestly, I think that it's all it's all up from here, hopefully.
Fingers crossed. But, you know, it's going to be ups and downs, going to be a little bit of a turbulent time, to be completely honest.
I don't think it's going to be all up from here, but I do think we all needed a little bit of a turbulent time to be completely honest i don't think it's going to be all up from here but i do think we all needed a little bit of a pump right now so i'm
really i'm happy everyone's a little bit happy i mean seeing the portfolio across the board in
stocks and crypto earlier this week was insane i mean i don't remember last time it was taking
that much and um fingers crossed it's only up from here yeah i literally wanted to cry um looking at my portfolio
on monday afternoon it was just like just don't do it just go touch some grass or something um
dude same here did anyone but did anyone buy the dip i mean i don't know if anyone else did i also
thought like it was really weird seeing yeah some red but I definitely bought some dips and I'm pretty happy about that too.
Anyone else? No, I did not buy, actually,
I bought some memes and just got wrecked again. Yeah, nothing wrong. Vapor, what about you, bro?
I've been pretty sidelined for the most part, not sidelined as in like just stables or anything my my positions have just stayed the same throughout all of it i got pretty fortunate
at the end of last year um i was probably one of the first a thousand buyers on trump
under 30 cents so i i made close to a million dollars off of that so i
didn't have to really trade much in this cycle.
So I'm not worried about conditions.
I was here whenever I first joined Solano, whenever it was 200 the first time.
I rode it all the way back to eight, rode it all the way back up to fucking 300.
And I'll ride it back down to whatever it goes to.
So I'm not really concerned with it short term because I've always looked at it as more of a long term asset. So I really have no worries about market. And just overall, with micro macro macro economics, like
nine out of all 10 of the worst crashes within stock markets, trade markets, any type of markets
have recovered within six months of it starting. And the only one that didn't out of the top 10,
I believe was the AIDS pandemic,
which took over 18 months to recover from.
if you really like understand like economics to global scale,
you don't really have to worry the,
if the world survived this long,
it's not just going to collapse at a dime.
People will figure it out.
That's wild. You, um you you got into the trump
coin at like 37 cents that's insane how did you catch it so early um so i i was literally a full
time trench scanner um that one was actually kind of surprising so So during that time, I forgot what day it was, but it was
Valentine's Day, I believe, actually. So I went on Twitter and someone posted a CA saying,
this is going to be something. And I copied the CA and it was nothing on it. It was just a blank
LP. Nothing had been filled in it. And this was like three or four hours before the Trump coin was
announced. So I was just having that on my scanner for the day and I saw it launch and I was a part
of the Martin Shkreli disaster with whenever he launched Trump and also whenever Icebags was
considered to be part of one of the Trump launches that both turned out false. And I always said I
wanted to be a part of the Trump coin if that had to happen i don't care if i lose five times aping fake ones if i get the real one
it will pay off uh so i just kept on doing it eventually it fucking hit gladly it was the third
one and not 50 coins down the line that i had to pick the right one but um was very fortunate that i was just active i guess that day yeah for sure man a lot of people spent
a ton of time in the trenches and then and like actually like scanning for tokens and good plays
and stuff and i think if you spent enough time there you definitely would have made a bag um
i uh i see scene has just joined us again scene what's going on brother how you doing
there we go dude it would not let me unmute my mic and then when i was trying to join back on I see Scene has just joined us again. Scene, what's going on, brother? How are you doing?
Dude, it would not let me unmute my mic.
And then when I was trying to join back on the space,
it was saying that the space was ended.
So I guess the app is still not fixed.
They definitely got to work on it.
And no, I am not feeling like shit this morning.
So I guess for now, I'm in the clear.
But how are you doing today, Chris?
Yeah, doing good, brother.
Like I was, I think you might have missed it. Vapor actually also asked me how I'm doing which is so nice
ask the host how he's doing because no one ever asked me how I'm doing I'm just kidding um but
yeah doing good uh in Zimbabwe at the moment um just sorting out some passport stuff but
yeah beautiful weather having a good time and feeling happy and healthy um
so um yeah we were we were just talking about the whole uh tariff situation and and kind of
what's happening in the us and this 90-day pause and stuff which obviously opens the window for
a bunch of countries to to now make a deal with the United States. And I'm curious to see what
China's kind of retaliation is going to be, whether they're actually going to make a deal,
or whether they're just going to keep raising the tariffs higher against each other.
What are your thoughts on all of this scene? What are your kind of thoughts on what's going
on at the moment? I think the one certainty that we can see is that we are
just in peak attention economy and it's just, it's never going to go anywhere. It's the ever ending
attention economy. And we're also at like the craziest political times in history and it's
just going to keep getting crazier. But I think, I mean, I'm not going to say price go up, price go
down. I've been DCA into my convictions, which right now it's been Solana and Sui.
I've been very interested in the Sui ecosystem, so I'm actually kind of dipping hard on there.
But the one thing I can say is just whenever it does recover, and it's going to eventually
recover, right, I have a long-term horizon.
I'm more of investing rather than trading.
But whenever it does reverse, it's going to reverse
fast. It's going to reverse hard and it's not going to take a lot to make things reverse. So
I'm bullish on the long-term perspective. I just keep buying small spot bags and
I actually did a full, I did a big average pull down on the morning when we woke up and Solana
was sub a hundred. I didn't get it at sub a sub 100 but i got a good price and i did a i did a good
average pull down so i'm just kind of dcaing and doing and going by that spot strategy amazing man
yeah i think that that's a smart way to go and i've more or less been doing the same thing just
like dcaing into convictions um a lot of alts are actually down horrendously um and there's some
really really good opportunities
especially in the smaller cap tokens.
So I think that that's for sure
a smart play at the moment,
especially with Bitcoin dominance
hovering at such a high level.
It's only a matter of time
before it starts coming down
and then we really see a proper alt season.
Right, I'm going to throw it over to to Jimmy at Tregen's and we're going to chat a little bit about what you guys have been up to because I
know you've been cooking a lot I know you've been working super hard and I wanted to throw it over
to you give you the opportunity to give a formal introduction to tree gens um obviously we've just announced our official strategic partnership so it would be awesome
to hear what you guys have been up to and what you've got coming up in the next couple of months
thank you brother thank you thank you thank you yeah we've been building for almost two years now
and uh it's it's been a wild journey um you know building everything that that we've been building for almost two years now, and it's been a wild journey, you know, building
everything that we've been doing here.
You know, we've seen, you know, with all the turbulent times and when, you know, meme
coins went down like 80, 90 percent and a lot of this, you know, bumpy rides along the
way, AI coins and things.
The RWA sector, if you look at all the sectors, this is like the one that really held its value longer term. And sorry about a squeaky mic here. So yeah, I'm really
bullish on RWAs and I'm really bullish on trying to make the world a better place through technology.
And that's really what we're up to over at TreeGen. So the vision of TreeGen that we're trying to
accomplish is a world where anyone can plant trees and earn a living.
And so what we're doing is we're tokenizing tree planting where anyone can plant trees.
They film before and after.
We're actually starting with mangroves because they sequester eight to ten times the carbon.
And then we're branching out from there.
But when they film in our DAP, so we have a decentralized application, people film before and after planting.
The AI that we've trained counts exactly how many trees were planted. And then the DAO with a staked governance tokens, that's what we're launching
soon is TGN. It's a governance token that has a lot of utility. You can tick some boxes, make sure
they follow the methodology. Then you also earn a portion of those tree tokens that get issued.
So there's a governance token for voting in the DAO and also earning these ecological credits,
And then, but 95% goes to the plant is on the ground. And then we're backing that with more centralized blue carbon projects. So we're doing these carbon projects,
selling the future value of carbon credits. And we can do this buy burn mechanism to really make
sure that these tokens hold their value longer term. And yeah, so we're further gamifying tree planting. We have like leader
boards and we have the world's first dynamic semi-soulbound token that visually levels up as
you fund and plant trees. And what's cool too is these NFTs are going to come alive as agents.
These are AI agents that can post online for you. We have a couple of really cool partnerships.
One of them is with XAID. So XAID is a suite like AI agent building platform where you can type the handle of any KOL.
It'll scan all of their publicly available posts and start posting like them in a very effective
way. And then just you can customize it with one prompt. And so each of these NFTs is only going
to be 500 of them to begin with. Each of them will be able to post on X.
And I don't know if you guys remember Block Games, but Block Games kind of took over crypto Twitter a while ago.
When people were posting to FarmBlock whenever they used the cash tag, they got like 2 million users of the cash tag and went super viral.
Eventually it got overrun by bots because bots were, you know, just taking these airdrops that you get when you post.
But they were able to measure the engagements.
And now what they've done for V2 of Block Games is they have ways of measuring real engagement.
So this is engagement based on how much like, comments, shares, et cetera, come from real
So they measure like, okay, are these profiles followed by big accounts?
Do they have the blue check mark?
How long have they been going for?
How many times have they been posting?
All these different variables to see, is this a real person engaging, right?
So not only will we have a massive launch, I can get into that as well, but post-launch
as well, this is a way of maintaining and rewarding the community because ultimately,
Sorry, my hand gestures got the best of me.
sorry, my hand gestures got the best of me.
So ultimately, we're trying to grow a movement, right?
So ultimately, we're trying to grow a movement, right?
I personally broke the Guinness World Record for most trees planted in a day by one person.
I planted 30,469 mangrove trees in 24 hours.
And now we're trying to make more records happen.
We're trying to get a billion trees planted on World Environment Day.
And we're actually on track to do it because we partnered with the Ethiopian government. They set the record at 616 million trees in a day. They keep
increasing the number. It's called the One Day Initiative. The whole country does this. Plus,
I've got seven other countries involved so that we can collectively make history on World
Environment Day. And so we're growing this movement. Your AI agents, your NFT is going to
be able to earn you TGN possibly based on the real engagement that it gets. And as we
move towards this, you know, AI future of AGI, ASI, it's all going to be plugged into this to
really make sure that it's growing that movement and ultimately making the most impact possible.
And for our pre-sale launch, this is coming up, hopefully, you know, depending on the market
conditions, as soon as we're not in a state of fear, hopefully by Earth Day on the 22nd.
Basically, we've developed a multi-tier referral program.
So basically, when we go to launch, anyone can refer a friend during the pre-sale with
these launch pads and instantly on-chain earn 10%.
But what we've also done is it's multi-tiered.
So if you refer a friend who refers a friend, maybe they know some whales or some KOLs, then you can also earn 10%. But what we've also done is it's multi-tiered. So if you refer a friend who
refers a friend, maybe they know some whales or some KOLs, then you can also earn 10%. So
what we've done is we've incentivized 37 KOL managers, each representing between 50 to 4,000
KOLs. And so, yeah, we're going to take over crypto Twitter. It's going to be wild. And Vala,
it was a sick partnership as well.
I'm really pumped for it.
And we're doing 24-7 live streams right now.
So by the way, we built all of this innovative tech.
And it's completely open source, by the way.
Anyone can use it through Gitcoin grants.
So Gitcoin is the longest standing grant program.
They've allocated $68 million so far.
And they do that in a very democratic way.
So all of us in Web3 actually get to decide how they allocate the funds. They use this quadratic
funding formula that was co-written by Vitalik Buterin. It basically heavily weighs the number
of donors that come through in this two-week donation period that happens each quarter,
more so than it values the number, the amounts that they contribute. So like if one person gives a thousand bucks, it won't be matched as much as if a thousand
people give $1. So it's kind of the wisdom of the crowd. Unfortunately, we were voted first place
in the past and we're doing pretty well this time, but we could really support. Literally,
you could turn $1 into 180 plus was the recent forecast. Like that's insane matching.
That's how they allocate the grant funds is they match these contributions.
And, you know, there can be no promises, no tit for tat for any of these individual projects.
But in the past, you know, like Optimism came up through there.
They gave a massive like $1,000 airdrop if you donate to them.
Uniswap came up through Gitcoin, right?
I think they did an airdrop too.
So yeah, no promises there.
However, I think, I don't know if this is set up yet,
but Vala has decided to support anyone who donates to any grant program,
any of the grantees through the airdrop campaign, right?
Maybe you can share a bit about that.
So it's not just tree gens.
It's to anyone if you gro-nate.
We call it gro- just tree gens it's to anyone if you'd grownate uh we call it grow nations because it grows and you do actually have to
support multiple grantees to get the uh to get the to be eligible for that but um but yeah i don't
know if that's set up yet or if that's something still in the works but that's a super cool thing
it'll be uh it'll be coming in the next couple of days, but we will be implementing basically any Gitcoin donations that you make.
You will earn Sparks rewards in Vala Voyage Season 2.
So be sure to keep an eye out for that.
When it goes live, it'll be announced in Discord,
So if you're not in the Vala Discord,
That's where all of the best alpha is.
That's where all of the fresh info comes out um i did want to also ask you so you obviously said that people
are going to be able to plant trees and then earn tokens for doing that so would it be safe to say
that you are the first ever plant to earn uh project oh that's a good question. I know there have been tokenized trees in the past,
but as far as I know, it's in a centralized way. It's like one organization is planting trees,
they tokenize it and they sell it and then they reward the holders with like carbon projects.
That's I think like mangrove down may have done that. But what we're doing is it's a decentralized tree planting platform.
So anyone in a local village can learn how to plant in our DAF,
film before and after, earn these tokens,
and sell it for their local currency.
And so I think we are the first decentralized plant-to-earn platform
Whilst we are on the topic of airdrops,
something very important for anyone in the audience
if you are eligible for the Wavefinder airdrop,
do not claim it because basically there is a Mevbot
who's front running all of the transactions
and he will claim your tokens.
It happened to me earlier, actually.
I had 500 tokens courtesy of Kaito, being a Kaito Yapper.
I did the claim, the transaction failed,
and then it said that my tokens had been claimed.
So essentially, I don't know how that works
but yeah, basically my entire airdrop got swiped
and it's happened to a lot of people.
I think they've taken $200,000 or so far
or something crazy like that.
So if you are eligible, don't go claim.
Apparently they're sorting it out.
But yeah, just a heads up to anyone,
especially if you're a Kaito Yappa,
be aware of that and be mindful of that.
Man, never a dull day hey never a dull day in this space damn it um but enough doom and gloom um i uh i wanted to chat about something
else i don't know if anyone heard that magic eden recently acquired Slingshot, which is pretty exciting.
Did you hear about that, Quinn?
I did. I heard about them acquiring it. I don't know too much about it. I just read the headlines.
But it's exciting. I mean, I think major marketplaces like Magic Eden, I mean, them acquiring,
right now to me is a very interesting time
for companies to be acquiring other companies
that are creating great tech.
It's actually something I wanted to chat more about
because I think that there's this emerging competition
between Jupiter and Magic Eden
and no one's talking about it, because they're in two
completely kind of different wheel parks, you know, when Magic Eden has always historically
been very focused on the NFT side of things. And Jupiter has been more focused on the token side of
things. And Jupiter have just launched their new wallet um and i tweeted cash who is one of the guys one
of the main guys on the jupiter team and i i think he was uh previously at oh man quinn you must know
cash uh he was i do know cash was he was he with metaplex super team he was with super team that's
right super team that's right yeah yeah so he was previously with super team he was with super team that's right super team that's right yeah
yeah so he was previously with super team he's now working with jupiter and um he actually
responded to a tweet of mine earlier and i said jupiter wallet needs to have nft integration and
he said sir we're working on it it's coming soon so in my opinion there's going to be a big big battle of the marketplaces um between because
if jupiter start doing nfts and if magic i mean magic eden is already leaning into the token side
of things um i don't know if anyone else has any thoughts on on you know this but i definitely
think that it's uh something that's potentially going to happen in the next six to eight months
i agree i think jupiter is
great if if they come in and they actually start integrating nfts i mean it'll be really interesting
to see what magic eden does because i mean everyone loves jupiter jupiter is actually a
really really solid product and so i think just based on you know their their history and their
credibility i think people will they'll probably make it as seamless as possible. They're really great with the UX UI as well.
So very exciting times, I think.
I mean, the more, the better the tech gets, the more people come in and the easier it is.
So that's what I love to see.
So yeah, I mean, Jupiter all day long, that's what, that's the direction they should be going in.
Magic Eden has also leaned in a little bit more towards bitcoin and
ordinals and stuff like that too so i'm keen to see what other marketplaces kind of lean into
that as well even though i think the solana game is is obviously uh you know that's got the most
potential for the future yeah for sure um i'm gonna throw it over to crazy white boy any thoughts on
the i know you're not i mean how much are you into the solana ecosystem
versus the eth ecosystem because i seem to remember your you were more into eth nfts and
you only kind of came over to solana more recently pretty much but i'm actually um
i'm actually leaning more into solana more and more um you know we we actually built on base but
i wish we built in solana now i just think like you know because you know even met actually built on base, but I wish we built in Solana now. I just think like, you know,
because, you know, even MetaMask
Solana just feels so clean.
I'm actually very bullish on Solana,
but mainly around the apps
because, you know, like that's,
that has the best UX is going to win, right?
And that's where it's going to go.
And Phantom, like, I mean, Phantom's probably done more for solana than anything else i don't know like
and then also magic even even the shift like small ships a lot of like ethereum nfts like even your
now tokyo's moving to like magic eden more exclusive dropping open c um yeah you know magic
eden's you know solana a face everything but i have to to say that I've got a lot of love for Solana.
And Vapor, do you have any thoughts on the scenario of Jupiter
and Magic Eden potentially competing over the next couple of months?
I've kind of had the same thought as you on it like with them acquiring
drip.hoss that's like they're like leverage in towards the the nft creator ecosystem and then
with them acquiring slingshot they're just onboarding the probably the best web3 onboarding
app if you're going through meme coins uh the ui interface of it the tradeability
cross chain it's just like one of the most seamless things um i have a couple friends
that got moved over from the magic eden team over to uh work with slingshot and i wish them the
absolute best i think they will take over huge market share from a lot of the meme coin competition
um yeah but i do think that
jupiter and me are the ones that are taking like monopoly share of most things um it's good to see
that there is at least two people fighting for it and not one um but the the other competition
including uh people i've worked with in the past and other companies that I've
tried, uh, helping in other ways, they, they are in a tough spot. Like you really have to push if
you want to hold up with those two companies right now. Exactly. Exactly. I definitely agree. Um,
so I guess this kind of brings me to my, my next question, um, which, you know, we've,
we've been doing these things the last couple of weeks where everyone, I ask a question and
everyone gets to give their answer.
Uh, we used to do it in our all hands calls, but, um, we're going to do it again today.
Um, we're going to ask everyone what their preferred Solana wallet is.
Um, and I'm going to go last.
let's start off with Sin.
Sin hasn't spoken in a while.
Sin, what is your favorite Solana wallet currently?
Oh, he's probably having microphone problems again.
Okay, let's start with Quinn.
Quinn, what is your favorite Solana wallet at the moment?
At the moment, I mean, I use Phantom almost every day.
So Phantom is linked in with lots of different things.
I think maybe because Phantom was one of the first ones that I used.
It's just kind of my go-to.
But yeah, I love Phantom.
I like the usability of it. It's very easy to do transactions. And they're always trying to
come out with new chains and various different things. I also love just the display of it all.
I love that I have a username with it. I think it's just really easy to use. I love Phantom.
Okay, there we go. That's a fair take uh next up let's uh let's hand the mic
over to jimmy let's go treasins and see what your favorite solana wallet is yeah it's got to be
phantom too i mean i've got backpack as well but i don't know if you can just buy tokens directly
in backpack like you just put put the ca and buy it but that seems pretty smooth with Phantom. And then, yeah, the usernames are great. Multi-chain, fantastic.
And yeah, do they even have QR?
Yeah, but the whole social,
I kind of said they didn't do an airdrop though.
Like everyone got stoked for the airdrop
and they were like, yeah, let's follow each other.
And then they're like, no, we're not doing that.
But we love them regardless.
Yeah, no, it's super smooth.
Yeah, I think Phantom is, it seems Phantom is definitely the crowd favorite so far. but but we love him regardless yeah i know it's super smooth yeah i think phantom is phantom is
it seems phantom is definitely the crowd favorite so far um i do think that um there's gonna come
a time where phantom are gonna have to do an airdrop to you know keep up with like market
share and stuff um especially with so many other wallets coming into the space and doing cool things. Um,
and there are wallets who are doing cool things like big time. So yeah,
let's, uh, let's throw it over to vapor vapor.
What's your favorite Solana wallet currently?
I was introduced whenever Solana only had phantom at the time.
Uh, so that's always been my main wallet.
But I also use Soul Flare as well.
I try to use multiple wallets just for wallet security, and that team has...
Quick story, actually, with Soul Flare.
One time I downloaded my wallet because I was scared that I was going
to get drained. I was at Austin and I scanned a QR code at some random guy just flashed a QR code
at my phone at an event. And I thought about it and I was like, that's not good. So I went back
to my hotel, started transferring assets. And then on Soul on soul flare whenever i imported the key my
nfts weren't loading but they they were shown like all the pictures were there but they were just like
blank metadata um soul flare was the quickest team that ever has reached out to me in a support
ticket um in their dms quicks one of my best friends in the space. Absolutely love that guy. Oh, what a legend.
So I will always support Soul Flare.
I do have nuance with how I got onboarded into the space through Phantom.
And Phantom showed me a lot of love as well.
I know some great friends over there.
Some who have recently left the company as well to move on to other things.
So both companies, I think, are just phenomenal.
And I think you should use both just to have multiple security assets.
Just don't leave all your things in one area.
I think next we're going to try Scene again.
Scene, are you there, bro?
Yes, yes, I'm here. I'm'm sorry i've been in and out of some calls
no you're good brother no worries so if in case you missed it we're going around and basically just asking the room what is your current go-to and favorite solana wallet uh i uh i just like
what vapor said i was brought up on phantom um during the nft craziness i just
felt like phantom had the best interface so i i use phantom i have a lot of different phantom
wallets i have a couple soulflare wallets that i've been dabbling with but phantom's my go-to
and it's been my go-to i know people will kind of complain about phantom and give it
shit but i love it it's just easy uh and i have i actually found some random ethereum in a phantom
wallet so ggs amazing okay great and then that crazy white boy did i ask you what your favorite
wallet is yeah it's phantom it would be phantom i mean uh yeah and like you mentioned drip as well
like so you i didn't realize that uh drip got acquired by no by jupiter oh by jupiter oh what an interesting move yeah but
that's that's what i'm saying though is that jupiter is now leaning into the nft side of
things and magic eden is leaning into the token side of things because these platforms are trying
to be like all the everything app they're trying to be the place where you go to buy digital assets
it's a slingshot it's easy on ramp it's the quickest on ramp thing that's what they want
to do they want to on ramp as many people as they can they get rwa's coming in that's what's
going to happen right like that's the easiest in and out um because that's a problem everyone's
facing right now people don't have to deal with you know kyc i mean even though you still have to but you know it's it's tricky
exactly yeah and I also think both both Magic Eden acquiring Slingshot as well as Jupiter
acquiring acquiring Drip can both also be seen as user acquisition strategies because by
buying those companies they're also in essence essence buying their user base as well.
And I know Slingshot has a massive, massive user base
Like a lot of people use Drip.
and opening those little treasures and stuff.
I was actually thinking about contributing
quite fun definitely music nfts or something you know yeah that would be sick i think that that's
something we can talk about in just a minute um because i uh i definitely think that that's a cool
prospect um that i have spoken to a couple of other people about but um i'm gonna go ahead and
just share my uh my favorite wallet first so for me i have to say
phantom as well so i think the whole room basically just said phantom um i i love the ui ux super easy
to use um straightforward but my my feeling is is that someone is going to come and steal the show soon.
And I have a feeling it might be Jupiter.
I have a feeling that Jupiter are going to make NFTs even cooler.
And I think you're going to be able to do a lot more with NFTs within the Jupiter app or the Jupiter wallet.
One of the things I don't like about Phantom is I feel like with NFTs, you kind of open your nfts in a gallery and you can
just look at them right and what i envision is a kind of ui ux where you can move the nfts around
so you can like shift them into an order you want and maybe you can like change like customize the
background and um like shift them into different folders and like kind of like do more with them i feel like
at the moment they just kind of sit there um and i want to like display them like i want it to look
like a gallery and i feel like no one's doing that so um maybe maybe it'll be jupiter um soul
flare are leaning into the customization thing um i don't know how many of you guys have used it, but on Soulflare, you can actually now change the banner
at the top of your wallet.
It isn't fully customizable.
They've got like preset kind of wallpapers,
but they're leaning into that more kind of creative direction
where you can set up your wallet
to kind of look the way you want it to look.
is like so that like that's actually so sick if you think about it imagine you know like almost
like a hybrid between canva and your nfts but they just import them you can just start editing
your nfts and just like start literally just like you know just even you know make your like you
know like adding ar to nft, trying to make them move,
Like there's loads of stuff that people could really think about in app, right?
And if you could do all of those things in the app,
it would make you more likely to use that app
because it's just like got so much more cool functionality.
So we'll see what happens when NFTs have their time again,
which I have no doubt that they will.
Someone needs to make them more fun. Someone needs make make it so that you can do cool shit um i really want to
chat to you about music nfts though um i've uh i've been in a space i don't know how many of you
guys know blau um blau is a an american dj i think he American. He might be Canadian, but he's American.
And he got pretty big around 2012, 2013.
Lots of banger EDM tracks and a super nice guy.
But he founded a company, I think it's called Royal or Get Royal or something.
Yeah, it's Royal. Is get royal or something royal yeah it's royal is that is that right yeah royal it's it's really a really interesting concept man i own a bunch of
blau nfts like the price yeah oh yeah like i loved the concept like he was really one of the first
djs who really understood this space back in like the 2020 2021 nft era, even like 2019, I know he was talking about it, but 2020,
2021, him coming out with, putting out his songs as NFTs and then actually allowing the holders
of those NFTs to gain royalties over time. I just thought it was a genius idea. And I have to say a
lot of other people thought it was really genius too. Like I remember when i was a vp of growth for nft nyc i mean every single every
single record album like you had sony you had um every single company in music at that event
because they really thought that nfts with music giving rights to artists to djs and and their
fans was going to be like another napster moment. Obviously, it wasn't really the Napster moment that we all thought it was, but I still really
I think it's such a great concept.
And I think personally, the best place for music NFTs to actually live is on Solana,
especially with compressed NFTs, making them really inexpensive for artists, for any artist
with any budget to be able to independently, you know, put out their stuff and have people own it it's really exciting yeah own it fractionalize you know
publishing sell you know up sell royalties you know you can really like you can really
fractionalize music cool and i know i know that uh so crazy white boy you've obviously released
a ton of your own music and you've had to do that through labels.
What has your experience been like with labels taking a cut
and the kind of things that they make you do in order to fit in their
different crates, if you want to call it that?
How much control do these labels have?
And how cool would it be to have the power put back in the hands of the artist
well they just sit in the tracks like you know i've signed to like i've you know our universal
deal has just expired now and they take everything down from spotify and then they like and now they
you know they kind of onto us again saying they want to re-release and own the back catalog
and they kind of offer you in advance and then they and you get an advance you get a bunch of
money and then and they just sit in it and they just do nothing they an advance, and then you get an advance, and you get a bunch of money, and then they just sit in it,
and they just do nothing.
They just want to own it for whatever reason.
You know, they don't work tracks anymore.
Like, labels don't really work tracks.
And actually, like, a massive artist, right?
And streaming, like, you know, like, per million streams, you know,
you'll earn $4,000, and then half goes to the label half goes to you i mean how many
artists are getting millions of streams these days it's only like being like the top you know one
percent or whatever you know so it's a tricky game um i think if there was a way obviously like
you know with all these avenues now you know selling the ip to tracks or having people raise
you know i think that's a much better way to go forward right and then you can kind of have them
be a part of your journey um and there are some people out there that might want to see that
journey or contribute that journey and be a part of it you know um but not just music movies you
know everything you know um but yeah yeah music's music's tough music's really really tough yeah
sorry i was just updating the title of the space quickly because we're talking about music nfts now
i get excited about this type of thing man yeah no look it's super exciting i mean you know it is um yeah it is i know that uh drip also did do uh they started leaning into music
nfts and i i know that they did send out some i can't remember i think it was some time ago i
don't know if they're still sending them out or whatever but um drip was also kind of leaning
into that and i don't know there's just so many ways that I can see it being the best idea ever like I mean
imagine discovering a new artist right you discover someone who has just started releasing
new music they're like a fantastic musician and you can you can see that talent like right at the
early stages and then they maybe release their first song and you kind of buy into like a fraction of that, like fractionalized NFTs or maybe it's a token.
I don't know. But you buy into that song and you make a bag because you believed in something from the very beginning.
There were a couple of other artists who were doing music NFTs in a really interesting way, too.
Like the cool thing about NFTs is they're just basically programmable digital assets that we can verify that you own.
So if you own, so like I think Steve Aoki was another one who did a bunch of NFTs.
I own a few of his. There was Deadmau5 also.
And and then obviously Blau.
And what they were doing, too like they wanted, well, Blau went down the royalty route, but Steve Aoki was wanting to get people to his concerts and stuff like that too.
So if you held one or two of his NFTs, you would get free access and sometimes VIP.
I think Deadmau5 did at Red Rocks a VIP thing for his NFT holders, which which was like it was only a release of like maybe 50
nfts but anyone who owned one of those 50 nfts could get into red rocks at his concert um vip
which is so cool and i think that that's the really creative thing that you know nfts can
bring out for artists as well it's like the people who actually support you your fans who
you know bring your music up along the way you can reward them along the way as well
yeah experiences yeah i mean i think uh dirty bird i think you know dirty bird your fans who bring your music up along the way, you can reward them along the way as well. Yeah, experiences, yeah.
I mean, I think Dirty Bird, Claude Van Stroke,
it's more like he also had a whole collection as well.
They were actually really cool, Dirty Birds.
Yeah, and they had a couple of experiences,
but it's hard to keep that going as well, right?
You gotta have a community and like a Discord,
and it's like, it's a lot of work, you know,
to keep your community active
as well for sure i think the last thing i kind of wanted to add is like if you think about nfts and
you think about utility like in my opinion you don't get better utility than that like
being able to do like like for example let's just say tomorrow i could go and buy i don't know i'm trying to think who's
one of my favorite artists um let's just say neuron pure i love her music she's i think she's great
if i could go and buy it him she's great yeah she's fantastic if i could go buy a neuron pure
or a fisher if i could no if i can i love fisher fish is great if i could buy a fisher nft
and go to a fisher show in cape town get vip access get to meet fisher in person take a picture
like to me that's enough utility already like yeah like you don't need more utility than that
the problem with one one of the biggest fundamental problems with NFTs was a lack of utility.
You know, like people trying to find use cases
it's much easier to have an actual utility
and drive value back to holders.
And I don't think people would want more than that,
That's probably where I'm the least educated on
I do know Blau, I got to meet him
at a couple of events last year
and I have seen his music
pop up on my radio from time to time
talk to him about that. But overall, I'm not too, too familiar with the industry.
So I don't have too much opinions on it. But I do love
creators being able to express their art digitally online.
Amazing. All right. And I'm going to throw it over to Jimmy. Jimmy, any thoughts on music
NFTs? He gone. Sorry, I was looking for the unmute. You know, I actually used to be in the
music industry for a while. I used to organize charity festivals and, you know,
it breaks my heart that like starving artists is almost like a cliche at this point. You know,
musicians have really struggled, especially with like Spotify taking a lot of the funds and,
you know, obviously pirating and things like this. So really they have to make a lot of the money
with shows and merch and things like this. So having another revenue stream there, right, having another way to to really make money and offer unique experiences to the fans who would love to pay for that, I think is a game changer.
And yeah, I think utility merge with NFTs is the way like what Gary Vee did as well.
What Gary Vee did as well, there's not music NFTs, but giving special experiences like Hangout Hawks, hanging out with him and other celebrities and the gift goats and all these extra things.
And access is an incredible utility of NFTs.
And music can do that in a really special way with the fans.
So, yeah, I'm bullish on music NFTs.
And I love to see that really getting a strong footing in the next NFT wave,
which I do really believe is coming.
I mean, it's resurged to an extent.
Obviously, it's not as crazy as the mania of 2021 was, but it is coming back.
And I think the ones that really have a strong footing are ones with genuine communities,
people who have strong values.
Oh, sorry, my mic's freaking out again my
bad uh and uh yeah so so yeah bullish on it really bullish and would love to see more so if you dude
i feel like we have the same musical taste next time let me know if there's any uh cool nft drops
like this because uh yeah i unfortunately have not bought uh any of those and i i heard a little bit
you know about what was happening with um with uh with some of those. And I heard a little bit about what was happening with some of those
musicians that you mentioned. What was it? Blau. But yeah, no, I haven't. So let me know. Let me
know the alpha. If some are resurging, would love to dabble. We'll definitely do so, man.
What did I want to add now? I wanted to add something, and now I've hit a complete blank.
Well, we're almost out of time, so if anyone has any last thoughts
before we wrap up for the day, feel free to go ahead.
And I've decided to close today with a blau song.
I felt that that's very fitting.
Vapor, I'm actually on Reposa'm on riposo right now i've actually got
my own coffee machine that's my ritual every day i'm just like pivoting here hard and i do
you guys ship to abu dhabi to dubai uae um i'm pretty sure we would be able to i know we do have our uh roaster in um over in europe and then we also ship to canada
in america but i i don't deal with the shipping i just recently got on the team so i'm not
dhs and it says i can add to cart and it's in the local currency so i'm gonna i'm gonna order
and give it a shot and i'll let you know how it goes it looks insane if anything does go wrong message me and i will fix it i will make sure you
get it no worries i'm gonna order now thank you so much i've also got another meeting now thanks
so much thanks everyone peace out thanks for joining man appreciate you we'll see you soon
um vapor actually i i did want to give you a quick opportunity to just tell the audience a little bit
about reposer obviously you're here representing them today in my opinion one of the best projects
um one of the best nft projects in the solana ecosystem hugely undervalued um and and looked
over a lot of the time the art's great you guys have a real product um so yeah would love to hear a little
bit about about riposa i know you've just joined the team so no pressure absolutely no so i've been
a part of riposa as a community member since basically the start uh just recently got added
onto the team so i do know fairly well about it in the culture behind it, even if I don't know the back end fully yet.
So, Raposa, they started as a company back towards the end of the NFT cycle last year.
They run a studio called Helium, where they did the art revamp for balloonsville whenever they ended up
rugging um and they created a they created riposa to become a specialty coffee company
built within web3 um and they've been able to do cover pretty much every event for solana at
throughout the last three years they were probably
the best event host in my opinion this is unbiased even before i joined the team it's the reason i
joined the team i think they crush events whenever i've gone to events just as a holder they've
treated with me with the most hospitality uh i showed up to austin last year they helped me with
ubers uh took me out to dinner, got me into any party I wanted.
They truly treated me like family. And that's one thing that's always set with me in the space.
Also, the coffee's fucking great. That's plain and simple. I don't even like coffee.
I was drinking six coffees a fucking day in Austin. I don't drink coffee. So that's one thing.
And it's a real product. They've had some of the biggest partnerships in the space. They've partnered with Solana Foundation.
They've partnered with Kraken. They've partnered with Williams Racing to do events, even with
Web2 companies at F1. So if you really, truly believe in a company that's going to build and
stay and that is recession proof, that has a product that's going to build and stay and that is recession proof that has a
product that's tangible, it will always be Reposa. And if you show up to any events across Solana
throughout the years, I highly suggest you becoming a part of the community just so I can
see you throughout the conferences and treat you with the same respect I got whenever I was first brought with the team.
Amazing. Thanks very much for that. Yeah. So definitely if you're in the audience,
order yourself some Reposa coffee, a little bit of alpha for you guys today. We are partnering
with Reposa. You're hearing this here first. I don't even know if I'm allowed to share that,
but we will be organizing some alpha tester passes for the reposer community i can't think of any community that deserves it more
in the space um and uh yeah excited to get you guys sorted get you into the vala discord and um
yeah start uh posting some cool coffee content on the Vala app.
I think that that is more or less all we have time for today.
Shout out to everyone who joined us.
You guys are absolute legends.
Really appreciate all of you guys joining.
I don't know if I mentioned this.
Actually, I don't think I did mention this and Dana's going to have my head.
But what you can do if you attended today's space
is go and scan the barcode that I dropped in the comments.
That barcode will basically get you 100 points or sparks
So if you were here in the space,
go and scan the QR code and you'll receive some points on Vala Voyage. Quick one or two
Vala updates to finish off with. We are very close to finishing things up with Apple.
And some other news, we've got some stuff cooking with Amazon, some big stuff cooking with Amazon.
Rad is currently on his way to go to Amazon headquarters.
There's a whole big meeting happening.
I don't know if I'm supposed to be sharing this, but whatever.
I love you guys, so fuck it.
That's about it for today.
We're going to be finishing up with a beautiful song by Blau.
