like so you guys probably I don't know if you guys were paying attention like for the past like six
months it's been we haven't really had much meme coin activity but you know slowly i'm seeing this big uptick
on like the active users and the traders and even the volume is all gone like 10x in the past week
and there's been some coins that have gone to like 300 300k and then every night there's like
one that's like going over 100k well that doesn't sound that crazy um you know to a lot of people
because maybe on solana
stuff goes to a million and stuff like that but it is actually pretty good because um you know
like the volume that even with a coin that goes to like 100k or 200k like the volume that it brings
in to the on chain and like that's all tracked is like if you go look on defy llama it's it's like 10x right so
so that's why i i you know certain some people like meme coins some people don't but that's why
i just i tell people like it is quite important for us to have just kind of at least you know
um an ecosystem that has like people playing around and messing around with the meme coins
because it brings volume and it brings eyes like if you go in baka's space when he's doing his meme coin thing nightly like
there's a ton of new eyes in there bro like like guys people that i haven't even seen in the
ecosystem have started to show up and people from other ecosystems starting to show up so you know
when you we think of the meme coins yeah you know there's ones that aren't going to make it some
only last for like you know a couple hours but then every once in a while there's a good one like
hose or um you know baka's one with bag and then we just recently had this one called win which is
pretty funny one you guys should go check that out um and what they do is they're like magnets
for liquidity and and attention so like they're it i believe it's a net positive for the ecosystem as long as people
understand that hey these are the riskiest assets in all of crypto right so you obviously you got
to be careful you know um because they're they're very very volatile and you know some of them don't
last very long you know so you just got to understand that going into it but i i definitely
do think that if it keeps going in this direction,
I mean, the numbers and the metrics tell the truth, right?
If all the numbers are up that help the chain,
then I think it's a net positive.
And the main thing is bringing new people over to the chain.
So I think it's good.

login for Ape Express and you don't have to do wallet connecting that we switched up the deposit
flow too. So it's really easy. You don't have to connect your wallet. You can just send any crypto you want.
It can be Bitcoin, Solana, whatever.
And it just automatically will turn it into ApeCoin on ApeXpress.
So no more bridging, none of that.
You just click on the, it still says bridge tab,
but you really don't have to connect your wallet or anything.
You just pick which asset you want to deposit
and then you just send to that address.
And then it'll just automatically turn it into apecoin so that's also good for apecoin because it you know it turns outside liquidity into apecoin and the number one
thing when you're trying to get new people over the number one pain point is they're always like
oh man i got a bridge i gotta do this it's like no well you can just use whatever crypto you have
if you got solana just just go over there and just send the solana in and it'll turn it into apecoin so we wanted to
make the deposit flow a lot easier um so yeah we just updated that and we got some more updates for
the platform too so now when you're trading you don't have to um approve on metamask anymore
either so it makes the trading experience a lot better as well you just press trade and then your trade will go through so you'll see a difference when you go um trade on the platform
oh wow so let me just clarify so i use a solana wallet and uh i basically send it on solana
network to uh my deposit address correct and it uh automatically bridges uh and creates uh
basically bridges to apepeCoin.

So like we've been thinking about this a lot because we're just like,
man, people hate connecting their wallet.
They hate, you know, they hate doing the approvals on MetaMask.
They hate if they don't have any ApeCoin, they hate, oh, I got a bridge.

So we're just like, well, we got to get this.
We wanted to put the social login and the passkey login on there for a while.
So we put that in.
So now you can log in with your social wallets or your passkey.
And, yeah, when you say, let's say you have, like, I don't know, Arbitrum or Sol, you just literally just click which asset it is.
And then you just deposit and send.
And then you don't have to worry about bridging or any of that stuff.
It'll just automatically turn it into ApeCoin and you're,
you're, you have a wallet built into ApeXpress now.
So yeah, it's good.

I think that's the way, right? So JB, maybe before we get into what you're cooking here with Marscats,
how did you end up in the space and when did you join?
oh thanks for me it was like maybe i'd say 2019 about um i kind of got in quickly with like a
dogecoin purchase like i think it was like some ad i saw somewhere um it looked pretty stupid um
and i was a total you know i thought i thought uh bitcoin and stuff like that was like a giant
scam back then because i was one of the you you know, the idiots that was buying silver gold
back in like 20, you know, 2008 or post 2008 got kind of spun into the whole Peter Schiff kind of
cult. And, you know, I was gobbling that. I mean, I was just, I was totally converted, you know,
like a massive gold silver bull did a lot of buying. And like i even you know was already a collector of uh coins um
so uh yeah so then so saw dogecoin and i'm like yeah this is so stupid but i'd seen some like
interesting stuff going on so i got some of that for like 80 bucks and then went back to it a little
bit later but more from like the mining perspective like i really liked what um i found a little bit
more about mining bitcoin mining and like specifically eth because it was quite uh quite profitable as well at the
time um and uh just randomly checked back my balance of dogecoin on this like exchange that
doesn't even exist anymore in in canada um and it was at like four thousand dollars so it went from
like a hundred bucks to four thousand and. And I was like, what the,
what is going on? So then I sold half of that. And, uh, you know, a few weeks later, kind of just like went back to check it, you know, to check what was going on. Um, and it had done
another like four, four X. So I was like, what in the G so that's when I was like, okay, I need to,
I need to kind of like, you know, find out a little bit more about this and kind of go down the rabbit hole. So big mining and then like, you know, NFTs from like
collecting coins and stuff like that. And even younger with the cards, I think that was like a
very, very easy onboard for me just from like a collecting side, right? Like these are the early
artifacts of like, what's probably going to be this like digital, virtual kind of network that's, you know, interconnected and stuff. So you've got a
chance to be there and playing around with the kind of the early artifacts of it and collecting
some. So that was like the kind of the main appeal to me, like what I understood mostly. And then
end of 2021, early 2022 with like the meta uh, the metaverse narrative and stuff.
Like I was completely converted because like ready player one and stuff.
Like to me, that's, that's where we're going to go.
Right.
Like watching sports, virtual AR, VR, kind of like embeds and kind of like your glasses
or even like lasers up in a screen or in a, in a stadium and stuff, uh, people watching
sports and kind of quasi VR, like someone dunking the basketball
right in front of your face. Like, of course, we're going there. That's of course where we're
going to go. So yeah, completely converted and joined MarsCats. I'm not the original founder
of MarsCats, but joined MarsCats when it minted in summer 2021. And in 2022, market slowed down and stuff.
Some of the founders were kind of like looking for an exit. So I offered to buy the IP off of
them and get control over everything. Took a little time to finalize all that stuff. But then
yeah, after that, everything was like smooth sailing. Did it because the IP is freaking awesome.
Just got to look at my PFP.
You know, IP is freaking dope.
Early artifacts.
And, you know, we kind of fell in love with the Web3 gaming side of things.
2022 was kind of like the decline of, started the decline of Web3 gaming.
But we stayed focused on it. And then, yeah, I could talk a bit about what we're cooking
kind of with the rise of Web3 Gaming again and stuff.
Man, I'm also so bullish on metaverse and digital worlds.
It seems so obvious.
It just depends when it's going to happen, right?
I think it's a matter of when than if.
And, man, you want to own digital
stuff in the metaverse and how how can you own the stuff like it has to be on blockchain right
so which is nfts guys so yeah i'm so bullish on that uh that's why i'm sticking other deeds
that's why i can't wait for uh other Persistent World launch probably this month, right?

what was the journey about man what is the project about and and how and or what
led you to actually you know do some stuff on ape chain yeah um i'd say the the kind of the
story starts a bit with um with nifty island Nifty Island and I'll link it up.
So back in 2024, well, before then there was a lot of setup.
Like I chatted with the founder of Nifty in like 2023 and saw kind of what they were planning to go live with and said, yeah, this is a perfect environment for what we're doing for Marscats.
And, you know, we want wanna integrate our IP into virtual worlds.
And it was kind of like the promise
of like sandbox Decentraland,
but actually being able to,
but it being there and not costing $20,000, $25,000
of land, which folks will remember like back in early 2022,
like you were considered a buffoon if you didn't have
a $25,000 piece of land in in the sandbox right and you were people were throwing tomatoes at you
if you're leading a project and you didn't have one and you weren't thinking about you know building
an experience and stuff and you know look look what look you know look what that left uh some
folks but yeah nifty free to play you just just get in, add your, you know,
put in your IP. People can spend their points on acquiring some of these assets, these NFTs that
are structures you can put on your like plot and stuff, your land. And so I was like, okay,
this is freaking dope. And we really thrived in Nifty Island um really kind of slowly rose um rose to you know at like a top position in that
that virtual world now we're the top eth uh community in there and um so doing all these
like game nights and like we started doing like loads of streaming as well and and just like all
over twitter and like you know branching out to other platforms.
And it was great.
We were pushing, you know, to get ApeChain also integrated because it's a great spot for people to start messing around with their IP, start, you know, playing around with stuff.
And a great setup for when OtherSide does go live.
You've got now two, you know, big platforms you can play with.

Like, a lot of the game nights in Nifty and approached said, like, yeah, let's do some game nights in uh you know on ape chain and and uh what do you guys think and so we started
to do uh host all the you know the weekly ape chain game nights on thursdays in the chain discord so
alternates if people don't know about that it's super dope g's is already integrated there's like
a whole bunch of other um you know bunch of apes integrated as well macy's and it's kind of more like fps shooter what i think most people are are used to
and uh and yeah and just like i was kind of like you know blown blown away by how kind of uh
open the you know the the community was and like we're also cooking some stuff on shadows and and
uh just having like the you know ox quit being so responsive and stuff and like in like DMs and like and seeing how we could kind of like, you know, leverage that.
And we're cooking something that's going to be coming out soon when some of the stuff is a bit more ready on their end.
But yeah, dude, I was just blown away by kind of how like very honestly that just how open and nice they were like um then great great like you know
breath of fresh air to see someone you know that that's kind of representing that that ecosystem
being so open so like yeah you guys host it do whatever you want and kind of giving us the keys
to be able to do our thing so i was like you know if we're gonna do it if we're gonna do this and
we're already kind of big and nifty and we already have like the experience with like events building stuff quests and we know how kind of people are are responsive and
i've been in ape chain for a while like buying loads of nfts and um really love the kind of the
energy and and the vibes here i was like yeah let's do something i think i think the space is
ready like we're not looking to uh you know blow the freaking the hatch off the freaking submarine
here but i mean it's like i think we can keep the the space warm i think we can show some good positive use cases for people
for launching new ips in these virtual worlds stuff that people are already used to seeing on
like you know open sea or blubber you refresh your metadata cool might as well be in a game and
refresh your metadata too and do both right so that's kind of the magic we're trying to plug into with this is like do an nft mint like people are used to but also have a live
reveal not only on your open c page but also in game live you can kind of refresh the map like
bang look what i got again you check the avatar trade it oh my god look at the prop the bit you
know the the item build with it and like check it out um it out. And so kind of unleash that magic there.
And yeah, and just kind of see how that goes.
And Nifty, I think, is a great tool for us to drive that experience.
But all the assets that we're going to be putting out are going to be completely interoperable.
So people can go on the other side with it.
Anywhere that uses like VRM,
FBX, like all these like, you know, open standard file formats, they'll be able to use that in whatever world, right? So connect your wallet into HyperFi, connect your wallet to Portal.
You'll be able to kind of check out your avatar, walk around with it and stuff, right? And we can
also update the standards. We can do, you know, whatever we want just so that people can do,
update the standards we can do you know whatever we want so so that people can do can take their
things um anywhere right so so yeah it's it's just kind of nft mint but live reveal show people what
it's like in a virtual world but then also use the game engine itself to power these like game
experiences right where you can get more nfts you can have if you want to go through a more of a
a game um a more like a champ like we're calling it the champions track but if you want to go through a more of a game, a more like a champ, like we're calling it the champion's track.
But if you want to go through a bit of a more challenging experience, you can go down that path and you'll have better chances of getting some of the NFTs for the project, just to be able to power the game and get people to want to
collect some of these items and go through the season, right? So it's very similar to what
people are used to in Web2 games, like a seasonal battle pass product where, you know, you, I think
I'm babbling a little bit too much. I'll pass it off to you. I'll go into, I'm sure you'll have some follow-up questions.

it gives new tools to projects, right?
And NFTs are about culture.

will be much better experience than Twitter Spaces, right? And that's where OtherSide
or NiftyIsland are coming. And I definitely want to hang out with you guys there. It also
gives you as a founder, like new tools,
how you can bring utility to your holders
because a lot of projects and holders
are like one utility, right?
And I believe the digital utility is great
because it doesn't matter where you live
and you still can be part of that.
And also it's not that crazy like IRL events
because hosting ApeFest, like it's nuts, I think.
You know, the ApeFest that we've had so far,
it had to be so expensive, so hard to do.
You needed to have like a huge team to actually do that.
But digital, it's, I would say, much easier
and people don't have to travel
and you can flex items,
you can have different like gaming items
i really like that and i'm you know that's why i'm also bullish on other side or nifty or
everyone that's building something for it and i know a lot of projects on apechain they actually
been building something for for other side or uh nifty so yeah jb go ahead yeah and i was gonna say
like what i think is really good to to understand too, for folks that maybe aren't haven't or maybe know more about other side, but maybe not about Nifty and like some of the others is that they're very different products.
Right. Like so other side is like kind of like the triple A, you know, very advanced kind of game experience that you could put in.
kind of game experience that you could put in. Like, you know, basically no limits to the type
of kind of code or the type of interactions you can have. And graphics also like top-notch graphics.
Whereas like Nifty is kind of like the very easy to build. Like on the other side, like they've
already said, it's going to take many, you know, multiple months for people to put together
something. It's not something you can just kind of quickly put together and voila, you know, you're
good to go, right?
It's something that needs a lot of significant amount of effort, but the end product is going
to be like X, you know, top, top, top notch, right?
And then you've got Nifty Island, which is kind of on the other side, right?
Very easy to put together, lots of limitations on what you can do, you know, with the code
or the game environment.
It's a bit more basic, but, you know, it's in or the game environment. It's a bit more basic.
But, you know, it's in the experiences are a little bit smaller.
Right.
So so that's kind of like a good way of seeing it.
And if anybody knows about portals, which is on Solana, it's kind of like in the middle.

So if you think of like other side taking multiple months to build something, portals
is maybe like multiple weeks to one month.
And then like Nifty is kind of like the few days
to a week type thing, right?
And that's kind of a good way to see it.
But yeah, very different, but all of them,
I think will just uplift each other, right?

So Mint's going to be end of July is the best I could do.
For the first release, so what we're doing with this is a bit of like, there's a lot of firsts that we're trying to do.
So one of the things that came before this, our test of whether this was something we wanted to kind of uh to put out was like palm
cats which we did um like a free mint a couple months ago and that was also um a live reveal so
we minted a whole collection said hey reveal is going to be in like a couple days come out for
this time um this date and then we did like you know flip the switch had the you know 3d metadata
loaded and we kind of broke some stuff on the nifty side because they weren't, I think their pipeline
wasn't on paper, seemed to be good.
But then, you know, when it actually happens, it's like, oh, damn, like, you know, they
didn't expect like all sorts of different things.
But it still was a decent result.
But that was like the first time anything like that had been done like
in Web3, right?
Like a reveal of this like massive collection in a virtual world.
So what we're trying to do with this is do even more types of items.
So you'll have avatars, props, buildings, all sorts of cool, like, you know, weapons
and stuff.
But it's also the other
challenge is that we're doing multiple releases right so we have to peek at different you know
before mints and stuff like that so for this first release we're trying to do our best to leave
as much room as possible um for for future releases so we're not going to go crazy supply
we're not going gonna go crazy mint price
because we want everybody to have a really good experience
right off the bat.
And we don't want this to be dragging us
into the next future because we got a whole year
of stuff planned and we're building up
to some very important releases and partners
that we brought on that, you know,
we want this to be like uh um how do you say
like just something like like a good you know something good pushing us forward versus like
this ball that's kind of hanging behind us and we have to kind of but we have all these like really
cool surprises and mechanics that we're going to be uh dropping throughout but we want the first
release to be you know really good for people involved but also, we're also going to be using it to kind of balance certain things out so that second release is great,
third, and, you know, it just kind of gets better from there. But we were, we're not stupid and we
know the first release is very important for us. But, but yeah, so that's kind of a bit of alpha
too that all that I've dropped there. Maybe a stupid question.

How does it actually link to the original collection,
the Mars Kets Voyage?
Is there any direct link or some kind of like airbrush
for the original users?
Or why or should people be looking into the original OG collection?
Yeah, so there's going to be a few surprises that link that on the lore end.
So cats are, you know, some of the cats are genetically modified to fly to space, right?
So to go to Mars, that's kind of the original lore story modified to fly to space, right? To go to Mars.
That's kind of the original lore story, just to keep it short for Mars cats.
But there are some cats left behind, like, you know, the not so performant that didn't
make it onto the ship.
But, you know, they're not just going to go and, like, you know, kill them all.
They still have to train and do some stuff and get ready for other tests and voyages.
and get ready for other tests and voyages.
And so the group of cats that were there and were training,
something happened to the training ground,
and there's like a full lore piece that we have of that posted.
And they transformed into these kind of crystalline-looking cats
that can go through portals and go through the rift
to travel to all these different environments.
So it's a voyage of these cats
going into these different environments,
these different worlds.
And these are the releases that come out, right?
So it's the cats going to meet these new characters,
these new worlds and talk to them.
And there's gonna be interaction as the release goes.
And there's like a string that kind of,
ties all these together.
And we have an Easter egg,
well, already a few Easter eggs,
but we'll have a few more going intimate
that I'm sure most people are gonna miss.
But yeah, so that's gonna be something
that will then trigger later on in this.
And what kind of experience is you building for them
in Nifty Island?
Like, what can we expect?
So what you can expect, so at launch,
there's going to be more than one world
where people can go and visit and check out.
It's going to be completely lore- from from uh what we're putting out and uh people be able to play the games the different
and there's going to be some like uh some branded games and also some like branded events based on
uh based on the lore um and right from the get-go they'll be able to enter quests like so right after
reveal they'll be pushed right into quests right so if you want to go the basic track you can start doing those quests um and there's also
going to be a more challenging track available right at reveal and then there's also going to
be for people that are less into um gaming and stuff like that there's going to be art contests
there's going to be trading contests um there's going to be all sorts of you know cool contests there's gonna be trading contests um there's gonna be all sorts of you know cool contests that that uh um that are planned and um the other piece i was gonna mention too is yeah
so for onboarding it's a beta game and you know we're also very rushed on time we're gonna have
two different onboarding sessions so for people that do wanna even if you don't wanna grind and
play you don't wanna you know play the the shooting games or the different races and stuff, you can still,
and I know a lot of people are going to be this type of user. They just want to go in once a week,
a couple times a week to kind of take advantage of like an event, hang out with people,
check out the new avatars they maybe just traded or whatever, but they're not really into like, you know, grinding for the games and stuff or being that
good. So we're going to do onboarding sessions so that people can go, can get in. We're going to
tell them exactly what parameters to put on their computer, the settings, the resolution, all that
stuff, so that every single time you get in, you're not bothered. You're everything is for gamers.
We already know how to do all this stuff by,
you know, it's like secondhand to us to know how to change the window settings and all that stuff.
But, you know, for people that aren't, we're going to get them like right away. They're going to know
exactly what to do. If they're not with a group, how to get into Nifty and kind of hang out with
people or do some cool, some other stuff. if you are into you know playing you know how
exactly to get the best benefit because you are going to be farming um the island token as well
and we're gonna be putting lots of eight eight token prizes in there um um too um so yeah for
sure people are gonna go and are gonna get in because it's gonna be driven by like a lot of
rewards nfts we're also buying nfts from um the projects that um that
we've collabed with too for uh for like whitelisting and things like this um to help drive
some of the contests and everything but what we're really kind of secretly hoping for is that
people really do kind of get you know attached to the lore that's being put out and the characters
that get they get um created the artists that we're bringing on,
and it's part of this kind of decentralized model
that we built and we wanna kind of keep doing it that way.
They have full IP rights.
So we just have exclusive license during the term
of like what we're doing in like the project,
but we're gonna continue to create utility
throughout like long term.
But we want them to have full IP ownership so that if they want to do some cool stuff
with it, if they want to do, you know, seeing the community like, you know, go in a certain
direction, they're free to continue that lorry, that store, that story, that lore.
And ideally, you know, if we do a good job, they'll want to do it with us again, right? And we can maybe do other metaverses. We can do other, you know, whatever, right? But
we want them to have full ownership and to take pride in kind of what they're doing. It's not
like a commission thing. It's not like a, you know, here, take it and that's it. We're creating
something like that we think that people can resonate with and have some fun with.
Yes, lots of rewards put in it. That's going to be great. But really, we want, if we're going to
get web two people or mainstream, you know, there has to be really good lore, IP, and some really
fun events and contests and stuff. We're thinking how to do also some like live, some cool stuff with like live, not gambling, but like wagers and stuff like that
with some of the new platforms that are coming out too,

So yeah, so that's kind of like a good breakdown

It's very interesting with on-chain data right on Somnia they release some
new platform that connects your yaps and I read on timeline that they might also connect your

I built out what's called a peer-to-peer OTC marketplace.
So pretty much people can trade NFTs for NFTs, right?
And of course, you've seen that before, but I've added an extra feature called the Secret Santa Protocol.
And so people deposit an NFT of a certain collection.
They hide the NFT and they ask, you know, which collection they want in return.
So neither side knows what they're going to get.
But with that, people are doing like peer-to-peer swaps of, say, floor NFTs that they're not really into the traits of.
And, you know, the other user comes through and exchanges.
So neither side knows what they're going to get.
And so this Wednesday, we actually got 22 NFT communities from Ape Chain coming together as part of the secret Santa party.
And we're up to 500 NFTs far in the, in the swapping
pool. So we're trying to do a lot of things. And we're actually on top of everything we're built
building with clutch markets, trying to build like the best NFT infra. And so that includes like a
AMM to improve liquidity and the floor prices of it, of NFTs long-term and kind of beat out
arbitrage bots and just many things like that.ki i'm a i'm a d5 builder
